he fucking hated these things. every year he was paraded around like a damned stuffed peacock, dragged out to bump shoulders and shake hands of the so called adoring public that made his new life of wealth and indentured servitude possible. he pulled at his collar, trying and failing to loosen the fabric, everything he was wearing felt too small, so tight it was difficult to move. it didn't help that the get up had been tailored with microelectronics and small led lights so that he lit up like a christmas tree. he grimaced when one of the sharp wires poked into his neck and tugged on his collar again to relieve the discomfort.
a guest brushed by him with a shrill laugh and cosmo caught a glimpse of his reflection in an impressively impractical piece of headwear and realized he was scowling. i could just die - ! the guest was saying.
Tumblr media
❝ i wish you would, ❞ cosmo mumbled under his breath. the moment the words left his mouth he choked and shoved his champagne glass into his teeth in case they had overheard but she was still laughing, blissfully unaware. the same couldn't be said to his fellow victor beside him, ❝ of . . . joy, die of joy, ❞ he winced. he really hated these things. // @70won , idk who allowed him to be here tbh but here we are .

This might be a ridiculous question. But I was thinking about high fashion and the Met Gala. And I was wondering… if you were to put together a Met Gala type of outfit with Inupiaq styles what would it look like? (I’m sure that the Met Gala had had some problematic past, I’m just trying to evoke the vibe of the outfits… I feel like I’m messing up this question… Zendaya’s Cinderella dress lit up when her “fairy god designer” pointed a wand at it and that got me curious.)
Oh, you have opened a pandora's box of a fantasy i've had for years and years.
So the main piece of the ensemble would be a drop waist gown in the style of a kuspuk. I can't decide on a a color, but it would be silk, perhaps with metalic woven or embroidered detailing to indicate a stripe and/or floral pattern which were the tradional go-to. The sleeves would be sheer but in a matching color to display braclets that mimic the look of forearm tattoos underneath. A trim of multiple layers of black lace dotted with white swarovski crystals would be applied where you would see fur from the parka poking out, such as at the hem, the sleeve cuffs, and along the hood (which may or may not be entirely decorative and function more as a small cape-like element).
There would also be mukluk style boots made of velvet woven to look like sealskin, or even just authentic sealskin mukluks (regalia is formal wear!). Hair would be in an elaborate braided style shaped low at the back of the head with an ivory doll worked in near the shoulder to allude to the image of a baby poking its head out of mama's hood. Also decorating the hair would be a take on the traditional beaded headbands made with pearls and gems or semiprecious stones in colors that complement the gown, making the whole look pop.
One final accessory would be red gloves. Any photos i'd deliberately pose for would have an approximation of the red handprint over the mouth symbolizing solidarity with Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. If people want to fawn over pretty regalia as haute couture, they don't get to bitch and moan about us asking them to care about our stolen sisters.
I doubt it would be on theme but every other white guy celebrity wears a boring black suit regardless of theme so....

i as always am full of opinions and i have a lot of opinions about a particular first monday in may so i’ve decided to share my EXTREMELY UNQUALIFIED opinions on met gala 2023 looks
TO PREFACE! fuck vogue fuck anna wintour fuck karl lagerfeld. he did some good and mostly bad. racist, homophobic, misogynist (especially towards women of color).
TO INTRODUCE! i’m extremely bored with this theme. partly because i have zero familiarity with anything to do with fashion and that includes even super prominent designers like karl lagerfeld. partly because having the theme based on ONE designer seems like it limits the creativity and expression a bit. it’s like there’s nowhere to go. basing the theme off fashion that already exists just seems so boring! you can’t get shit like zendaya’s cinderella dress and rihanna’s egg train and blake lively’s oxidation transformation or any of the AMAZING looks from previous years with a theme that’s based on pre existing fashion. all the attendees are already boxed in. that’s my take anyways, i could be Very wrong. also i will be skipping people i don’t know unless their look is Very Bad or Very Good or I Feel Like It
TO BEGIN!
Tumblr media
rihanna & a$ap rocky
i love her lil flower egg she looks so cozy. almost looks like eva from wall-e. his look feels more campy to me but it’s honestly pretty cool and interesting and it’s better than the five million boring black suits so i like it 9/10
Tumblr media
sabrina dhowre elba & idris elba
the skirt is interesting but that’s it. the suit is a step up from boring black so i’ll give him some credit. unexceptional 3/10
Tumblr media
jenna ortega
STUNNING. INCREDIBLE. the strands of necklace? the woven look? the little half jacket? the bow? the gloves? the shoes turned to platform heels? the CORSET??? it looks like someone tore up the cinderella wicked stepmother’s dress and it looks SO SICK 1000/10 nailed it love her
Tumblr media
taika waititi
he looks like he’s playing benvolio in a production of much ado about nothing where they’ve done like a modernized 1950sish? (is that when men wore waistcoats and those pajama coats like that?) theme with the costumes and set design. and one of the sets is a bar instead of someone’s garden or something. i love it 9/10
Tumblr media
anne hathaway
QUEEN. another woven texture and i still love it. the slits are fantastic, very sexy very cool. the tits part of it makes me think of katy perry music videos and i dig that. gotta be careful though she might be stealing a $150 million necklace 9/10
Tumblr media
pedro pascal
i fucking love this look. i love the red and the coat is glorious. not to mention the shorts. like normally i’d hate that but i’m really digging it. he looks like he’s a don in a mafia movie with really obvious color imagery but it’s like, 1/4 yale boy yacht party 9/10
Tumblr media
kim kardashian
i honestly really like the arm train, it’s really beautiful and elegant. unfortunately the body part doesn’t match that vibe at all in a way that doesn’t work. also i feel like i’ve seen that exact type of dress before. not a fan. also frankly she shouldn’t have been invited back for RUINING a historical artifact. 2/10
Tumblr media
salma hayek
another red look and i dig it. i like that kind of skirt and the bodice is cool, they don’t match BUT in a way that works! it’s interesting! also i see that lil bit of lace on her leg poking through. 7/10
Tumblr media
jennifer lopez
gorgeous but a long train alone doesn’t make a look interesting. gotta give me more than that and the hat is not working for me 4/10
Tumblr media
eileen gu
a good look for a children’s ho— *i am shot in the head and die instantly and my body is dragged into an unmarked van by masked people in nondescript uniforms*
8/10

Sweet nonnie, you don't need to worry about that at all. You can always share your thoughts with me, always. I love it with my whole heart. Though I'd love to choose violence, but what we're gonna do instead is ignore their existence and keep our peace at all times. I'm not gonna subject you to any negativity anymore because I won't be replying to hate. A block would have to do. No one will even know their hateful ask existed and we'll continue living in peace.
Also I LOVE your mind😂💜💜💜 are you by any chance a Gemini, nonnie? Persephone and Hades are my favorite:""" Oh I love everything about this stop making me daydream😭😭 sammmmeee
AND YES I AGREE his hair stylist needs to let the curls show themselves for ONCE:"

oliver's silly little round up of favorite and fun met gala looks bc sometimes ya just need to oooh and aaah at pretty dresses
favorite look of the night: zendaya's second look duh (black dress); the headpiece is wonderful and the bodice, shape of the dress, and different fabrics really made the black dress more special. like the makeup more here, the softer look really helped
da'vine joy - the long red hair? the denim? the contrasting blue shades? literally reminds me of fantasy heroine's dress in the big ball before they run into the forest (if you like her look, def go follow notyourmommashistory on insta!)
phoebe dynevor - loved the draping and the color and the different textures; literally looks like the 'veiled fabric' you see in old marble statues. pink undergarments is a fun change to the usual skin tone garments these naked dresses go with
alia bhatt - amazing bead work, dreamy and soft and so fun! honestly impressed that busy fabric can be sooo delicate and wispy.
gwendoline christie - the hair? the velvet? the cape? wonderfully styled; need her as fashionable villain
pamela anderson - a+ silhouette, love the chain and the feather hair. one of the few neutral colored dresses that didn't fall into the 'sad beige aesthetic' lmao
zendaya's first look - love the stripes and the grapes and the dragonflies/birds (i can't tell), minus a few points cause of the eyebrows. either needed darker brows or less artsy makeup i think
quannah chasinghorse - literally cinderella (and dare i say, better done than zendaya's past met gala look?), love that it looks like a flower, and the beadwork belt and earrings compliment the dress so well
taylor russel - kinda literal with the tree bark, but the molded top is so well done and the skirt draping is very statuesque
harris reed - literally looks like a renaissance painting? no notes, only admiration
imaan hammam - loved the simpler skirt so the studded top and big earrings could shine. gold wrist cuff bracelets were the cherry on top for a perfectly balanced look.
tyla - the sand is a little literal but super cool and love the sand on her arms
penelope cruz - vintage, lacy drama. i want to see this look in a movie (with maybe a different fabric than the white at the bustline)
venus williams - i didn't super love this look at first, but it's def grown on me. very memorizing and the hair accessories help tie everything together.
colman domingo - he knows how to rock a voluminous pant. the cream suit jacket with the cape is fun and could def hold on it's own without the pants.
wisdom kaye - love the color and the drama of the coat, the burned holes is fun and funky; don't super love the hat tho (it's giving boy george)
bad bunny - chef's kiss at the fun texture of the suit, the hat, and the red striping
honorary mentions - anok yai (loved the sparkles and colors and big ring, hated the jumpsuit and weird waistband), lewis hamilton (the flowers were great but a little boring in all black, bonus points for the metal vine tho), gigi hadid (love the bright white and black piping and obvious bustle inspo, but there's no way she could breathe in it), josh o'connor (for the suit tails only)
misc: brie larson's dress looks like the mosquito keeper-outer food cover thing lmao; michelle yeoh deserved better than crumpled up tinfoil

Favorite Met Gala Look??
God, that is a tough choice... Before I get into All That, dishonorable mention to all the basic bitch ladies who wore normal red carpet gowns and all the basic bitch gents who came out here in normal suits and tuxes or Tux But in a Different Color- you had one fuckin job. But now you’ve released the Costumer Opinions floodgate now though, so this will go one for a while. Get my hot takes below the cut
So for background, in case anyone reads this who didn’t know, this year’s theme was based on Notes on ‘Camp’, a 1964 essay by Susan Sontag analyzing the impact in culture and fashion of the rising trend of “camp” fashions in media. Camp being essentially taking fashion to the extremes, going borderline gaudy. As has been pointed out, this movement has heavy roots in the queer community, particularly in the drag sector. That being said, we had a truly staggering dichotomy between people who leaned into the theme to any degree and people who either didn’t even try or are so boring that their idea of a wild time is a woman in a suit or a guy in a color.
Honorable Mention 1 to Serena Williams, for comin out here lookin like Persephone herself came up from the underworld to show yall how its done.
Tumblr media
Honorable Mention 2 to Zendaya, really getting into the showmanship with a light up led Cinderella gown. I’m pretty sure she’s just living out her dreams, theme be damned, and I respect that.
Tumblr media
Fifth place goes to Michael Urie for the iconique half-dress-half-suit look, and further pushing the envelope by putting the makeup and high heel on the suit side and the weird platform dress shoe and buzzed hair/beard combo on the dress side. You, Urie, truly embraced the genderqueer roots of Camp, and I applaud you.
Tumblr media
Fourth place, Janelle Monáein the Picasso-lookin eye dress- I mean, covering ya tiddy with an eyeball complete with feather lashes?? The lopsided stack of hats??? Visionary. Pun intended.
Tumblr media
In third, Cara Delevingne. Not only covering her head in weird knick-knacks like a champ,  but also going absolutely ham on the rainbows. Like, I’m pretty sure those stripes on her legs are makeup, not stockings. That’s just fun. This one’s fun. And very gay.
Tumblr media
A close second place to Hamish Bowles. Now here’s someone who really embraces theme in my opinion. Fuckin TELL me you don’t know a ton of gay guys and a lot of gay girls and gay neithers who wouldn’t rock this shit walkin through the grocery store. I damn well would. The pastel rainbow hair, the soft lavenders, the fuzzy edging on the absurdly heavily patterned cloak-jacket thing, just everything about this Look- Bowles went OFF and I am so grateful.
Tumblr media
And finally, I have to give my top billing to Ezra Miller. Look at him. Rhinestone corset cage. Classic pinstripe suit in all its glory, now featuring a train. That bright red lipstick is so bold but it barely even strikes you behind the SEVEN EYES OF AN ANGEL. And what’s that- oh, nothing, just a MASQUE OF HIS OWN FUCKIN FACE TO HOLD OVER THE TERRIFYING YET BEAUTIFUL TRULY ANGELIC VISAGE HE HOLDS BENEATH. Actual holy SHIT, BOI. You did NOT HAVE TO GO THAT HARD. Major props to his makeup person too- if anyone can find their name, PLEASE let me know- cause holy shit, I keep having to remind myself where his real eyes have to be logically in a human facial structure, those painted ones are so good! And I swear, he is striking such good poses in every picture. Miller KILLED IT.
Tumblr media
And I’m pretty sure he’s also on his way to kill God.

Review: Met Gala 2019
Good morning to girls and gays only.  Straight men can perish.
Well, the Met Gala has rolled around once again and all I can say is: I’m so glad I’m a lesbian. The theme for this year was ‘Camp: Notes on Fashion’ and my GOD did some men decide that this was the perfect opportunity to come in a bland black tux or worse.
Some of the biggest disappointments of the night for me have to be Rami Malek and Taron Egerton, who, having both just played some of the most iconic men in recent history who lived, breathed and ate the essence of camp, saw fit to turn up in black tuxes.  Taron’s was kinda sparkly though and I still respect the dude for his general lack of typical masculinity elsewhere (more men commenting “phwoar” on their mates’ Instagram, please).  Shout out to Frank Ocean who showed up looking like any bouncer you might find outside one of my local clubs on a Saturday night.  He collaborated with James Charles to prove that while some gays showed their best, others certainly did not.  The theme was CAMP, James Charles, and you still couldn’t deliver.
I appreciated the change in pace from Darren Criss and Harry Styles, but to be honest, Harry’s had camper looks in concert and Darren Criss…well, I loved his look, but it also took me a solid ten minutes to work out that it was him and not just Brendon Urie in his regular concert gear.  Glittery jackets and statement eyeliner do not a camp icon make, I’m afraid, though you certainly did better than so many others.
Kim Kardashian was certainly…there.  I’m impressed with the way she managed to make herself look like she’s just stepped out of the ocean butt-naked and dripping wet, but girl.  You’re rich as fuck.  There’s more than bodycon dresses out there.  Also please smack your husband, he’s a dick and he’s wearing a black tracksuit.  Kendall and Kylie were a little more flamboyant but honestly, they were single-colour knockoffs of things I would say you could find at a Rio street festival, except that would be an insult to Brazil and all the ways Rio festivals embody everything the Jenner looks were not.  And to be real with you?  For all the colour that was there, they were boring.  What is it with these women and being afraid to be #Iconique? It’s sad that all they seem to know how to do is emphasise their boobs and hips in dresses with very little fabric to try and be daring.  If they weren’t so rich and influential no one would pay them any mind because you can see the same look on anyone else.
While I don’t like Cardi B, I can appreciate her attempt to get into the spirit of the Met Gala, which she pulled off so well last year.  I only wish her skirt hadn’t ended up looking like rows of theatre seating.  Katy Perry was there as both a chandelier and a hamburger, which, while a step up from the Jenner-Kardashian contributions, leads me to wonder if she knows what ‘camp’ means, or if her foray into queer culture stopped once she was done appropriating sapphic sexuality for male consumption in 2008.  Special mention must go to Benedict Cumberbatch who saw fit to show up dressed like some bizarre visiting cousin of Colonel Sanders who maybe definitely owned a plantation.  It wasn’t a black tux but somehow I just wish it had been.
To get to the real stars of the night, I think it’s only fair to start off by saying this Met Gala was once again, Black Excellence.  I cannot BREATHE for the number of incredible, powerful black icons taking to the pink carpet in works of art.  Let’s begin, shall we?
Billy Porter showed up (and showed everyone else up) with six hot half naked slave dudes decked out in gold carrying him in on a black-and-gold chaise-lounge like a modern-day Cleopatra and, once he had both feet firmly on the floor, threw up the massive golden wings of Isis and owned the entire space around him.  The crown.  The wings. The copious gold sparkly shit. The gold bedazzled stuff on his face. Every other man should be ashamed of his failure to measure up to the king. Also every man in a tux found DEAD by the side of the road thanks to our Lord and Saviour Billy Porter.
If Billy Porter is the king, then surely, there are too many queens to choose from.  From Laverne Cox’s strikingly shaped black dress with her brilliant blue-white hair and statement makeup, to Lupita Nyong’o showing up in the full neon spectrum of the rainbow, black women showed up to take the crown every single time last night.  Janelle Monáe’s stunning artsy dress blew me away, from the Picasso-like features to the multitude of hats that I have no idea how she balanced, she’s a masterpiece.  Lizzo stepped out looking like the Empress of Flamingos and I am absolutely here for every second of it.  The colours are loud, bold, and the outfit is as large-as-life as Lizzo herself.  Her hair was so stunning, I swear I thought it was a crown at first.
Black hair certainly had a starring role on the red carpet as well, from Tessa Thompson’s insanely long braid (she was carrying a WHIP to complete her outfit RIP all wlw) to Lupita’s impressive afro with its many golden combs.  I adored Danai Gurira’s hair and especially loved her Oscar Wilde-inspired outfit: here is a woman who understands her brief and works from it to great effect, and I loved Keiynan Lonsdale’s gorgeous hair and butterfly gown – seeing him embracing his queerness with both arms since Love, Simon led him to come out has made my heart big.
I can’t move on from the black dominance and excellence of the night without mention of two of my favourite looks: Zendaya and Lena Waithe.  If Billy Porter is the king and there are too many queens to count, then Zendaya stands out yet again as the living, breathing princess of the lot of them. I can hear the white tears over black girl magic Cinderella from here.  She arrived in a whole Cinderella dress that expanded and glows from within, a pumpkin-carriage purse and her own fairy godmother to transform her with a little bibbity-bobbity-boo?  She even lost her damn glass slipper on the stairs. A true artist.  As they say in the LGBT+ community: um, wig.
Speaking of which: Lena Waithe.  The lesbian icon herself, who showed up to last year’s Catholic-themed Met Gala in a pride flag cape, and who went hell for leather this year as well, putting every man in a tux to shame by not only out-classing them in how fantastic she looked in her lilac suit, but also paying homage to the origins of camp, with the back of her jacket boldly stating “Black Drag Queens Invented Camp” and the pinstripes on the suit actually being cleverly displayed lyrics to iconic drag queen songs.  She really Did That yet again and I’m knocked dead.
This review is already long as hell and it’s about to get longer because there are more looks that I want to mention.
First of all: Lady. Fucking. Gaga.  My girl did four outfits on the pink carpet in the space of 15 minutes and holy shit did she kill it.  Starting out in a voluminous hot pink ballgown, followed by a more sedate but still impressive black one with a matching umbrella, then down to a slim hot-pink number, huge sunglasses, and statement telephone, and finally ending up in an iconic mesh and underwear set, all while sporting the most gorgeous gold false eyelashes that made the whole thing pop.  The creativity and flair of everything Gaga does has made her iconic throughout the years and this event was no exception.
Ezra Miller FUCKED IT UP. Pinstripe suit with the sweeping train, glittering cage corset on top and a myriad of imitation eyes all over his face, carrying an eerie mask of himself on a stick?  Phenomenal.  The confidence in his walk as he moved and the way he displayed his look was so striking and seeing him own it so much made my night.
I loved Jordan Roth’s take on Billy Porter’s wings, allowing him to show up as a literal whole theatre. I loved Ryan Murphy’s sparkling pink champagne tux and high-collared cape.  Florence Welch absolutely slayed in her glittering wing-collared cloak.
However, one of the standout looks for the night was Hamish Bowles.  The embodiment of camp, with that magnificent fur-trimmed patterned cape. The look is absolutely dominating even when he’s standing still, and when he moves, the whole thing comes alive. Watching some of the dynamic shots taken of him having fun with his outfit, I felt like I was watching a bullfighter in a lion’s mane – and all of that is good.  I can’t quite put my finger on why I felt he looked like a fabulous Mrs Doubtfire (maybe it’s the shoes) but the outfit was one of the best and definitely set a bar that so many men fell short of.
Final Words:
Can someone please tell cishet men to step their game up?  Or men in general (I see you Frank Ocean and James Charles letting the damn side down)?  They can stay boring if they want, however.  The rest of us will be having far more fun without them, and the plain black tuxes certainly are no talking point of the evening.

Sooo if you were to do FPR Met Gala 2019 edition: of the looks that you've seen which ones would you toot and which ones would you boot? also which other queens would you have liked to see on the red carpet apart from Ru, Violet and Aquaria?
Ahhh this is so late but I finally have time to answer all your questions!
Honestly there was a lot of meh at the Met Gala as usual, but I will say that I think this theme made some celebs push themselves out of their fashion comfort zone, more than they usually do at least. There were so many looks so I’m just going to mention the ones that stood out as a toot to me (P.S. could you imagine an actual FPR of the Met Gala? Raja and Raven would go IN bitch!)
My favorites were: Billy Porter who was a hands-down top SHOOT of the Met. Thank GOD someone actually understood the assignment. Janelle Monae in her Monique Heart-inspired get up was awesome as usual. Katy Perry really surprised me and went all out with the theme, her burger outfit for the afterparty was especially fantastic imo. Zendaya always looks amazing and this year was no exception, she was gorgeous dressed as Cinderella. Lady Gaga looked awesome and the costume changes ON the pink carpet were campy as fuck. Lupita Nyong’o looked absolutely stunning and on-theme as always. Cardi B looked awesome. Laverne Cox was gorgeous in her black gown. Florence Welch looked beautiful as usual. Ezra Miller’s look was super cool, I couldn’t stop staring at all the eyes! Keiynan Lonsdale, I wasn’t sure who he was before but he completely understood the assignment and looked great. Michael Urie (again wasn’t sure who he was) looked super cool and was giving me s7 dance challenge vibes. And I actually really liked Rupaul’s suit, even though I do wish he came in drag, I also understand why he didn’t. He’s old and I’m sure standing around in drag all night would be extremely uncomfortable. But his suit was actually super campy and cool with the zebra on the shoulder.
There’s probably more I’m forgetting, but those looks stood out as toots. LOTS of boots for celebs who once again completely ignored the theme and just looked “pretty”. I thought Aquaria’s outfit was cool but not really camp, more avant garde (definitely not worth her little meltdown over it). And I found Violet’s kinda meh and safe, but I find a lot of her style in general kinda like that so it was on-brand.
Other queens I think would’ve killed this theme: Manila no doubt would’ve completely slayed it. Bendela would’ve probably done something super fun and campy. Nina West (when she can pull a look together) would’ve looked awesome in her facekini suit or something. Monique Heart would’ve done awesome, I mean someone on the carpet was literally wearing her makeover outfit. Nina Bonina could’ve done some killer makeup, same with Kim Chi. Katya actually probably would’ve done well with this theme. And of course every year I would KILL to see what Raja would come up with. I know she is usually more of a high-fashion queen, but she’s so versatile that I know she could come up with something amazing for literally any Met Gala theme.

Lucretia and Davenport are the only ones who dress even slightly reasonably (Davenport’s suit is sea-themed and Lucretia’s dress is like a slightly less poofy version of Zendaya’s Cinderella dress)
Merle reuses his Ursula costume
Please consider Taakitz showing up to the Met Gala: Kravitz wears an elaborate raven costume with iradescent wings and a train of feathers three yards long, and Taako’s on his arm dressed as a literal diamond, glittering like a massive disco ball in ten inch crystal stilettos.
I cut a tendon in my writing hand or else I would draw this immediately (and probably poorly). Anyone who wants to have at it would make my goddamn year.

The Duchess of Sussex is Named as the Most Powerful Dresser of 2019
Each year, fashion search platform Lyst releases its Year in Fashion report where it outlines the top shopping trends for the year just gone, as well as the public figures who had the most impact on our wardrobes overall. Looking at data from over 104 million shoppers, as well as page views, sales of six million products from 12,000 stores and media (both traditional and social) coverage, the site is able to determine the biggest fashion moments – and figures – from the year. And its Power Dressers list for 2019 has some pretty famous faces on it. See the top 10 below.
One. Meghan Markle

It’s no secret that the Duchess of Sussex’s wardrobe choices are some of the most followed in the world. Whether she’s on a royal tour, or stepping out for a low-key engagement, everyone wants to know what Meghan is wearing, and where to buy it for themselves. According to Lyst, on average Meghan’s outfits “sparked a 216 per cent increase in searches for similar pieces.” Her royal tour aesthetic – namely, the shirt dress – was also a huge hit with consumers as searches for the item grew by 45 per cent in a month. The Club Monaco dress she wore resulted in a 570 per cent search increase, and sold out within 24 hours of being identified. The black and white J. Crew skirt the Duchess wore for a private meeting with South African politicians, lawmakers and government officials was also super popular – searches for the brand rose 102 per cent as a result.
Two. Timothée Chalamet

If anyone knows how to dress for a red carpet, it’s Timothée Chalamet. The breakout star of 2019, Chalamet has served up some seriously fierce looks this year. According to Lyst, the embellished Louis Vuitton bib he wore to the Golden Globes this year was the most impactful at the event. He followed this up with a sequin hoodie at the The King premiere in London which resulted in a 192 per cent increase in searches for men’s hoodies. Perhaps most impressively, after the actor wore a Haider Ackermann suit, searches for the brand spiked by a whopping 806 per cent in the following week.
Three. Zendaya

Another red carpet maestro is Zendaya. The Greatest Showman star has wowed on several occasions this year – namely, at the Met Gala where she transformed into a real-life Cinderella in a huge blue gown by Tommy Hilfiger (the brand saw a 54 per cent increase in searches as a result) and at the 2019 Emmys when she wore Vera Wang. The stunning green corset dress caught the attention of literally everyone, and created a 33 per cent increase in searches for the brand.
Four. Billie Eilish

A post shared by BILLIE EILISH (@billieeilish) on Jul 21, 2019 at 1:08pm PDT
She might only be 17, but Billie Eilish beat out several fashion heavyweights to snag the fourth spot on this year’s list. Having favoured neon green across several of her outfits, searches for the colour rose 69 per cent across the summer. Plus, when the Bad Guy singer posted a image of her wearing a piece by BBCICECREAM, searches for the brand spiked 211 per cent in less than a week.
Five. Cardi B

Cardi B was a fixture on the fashion week front row last season – and people took note. Her outfits by Chanel, Thom Browne and Richard Quinn were some of the most talked about from the week according to Lyst. Elsewhere in the year, the vintage Mugler dress she wore to the 2019 Grammys caused a 169 per cent spike in searches for the designer in just four hours.
Six. Lisa, Blackpink

A post shared by LISA (@lalalalisa_m) on Jul 1, 2019 at 7:27am PDT
K-Pop star Lisa is having a stellar year – she became the most followed K-Pop personality on Instagram with 27 million followers, and also increased searches for the Celine Triomphe bag by 66 per cent after posting a photo of herself wearing it in the summer.
Seven. Kylie Jenner

Fresh off the news that Coty bought a 51 per cent stake in Kylie Cosmetics, the youngest Jenner takes the sixth spot on the list for this year (she topped the list in 2018). Interestingly, Lyst says the floral milkmaid dress worn by the beauty entrepreneur in August was “responsible for a 66 per cent spike in searches for the style.” Plus, the gold dress she wore to Hailey Baldwin and Justin Bieber’s wedding “had more impact on searches than the bride.”
Eight. Lizzo

My album? #2… this outfit? #1 thoooo! Have you heard ‘Cuz I Love You’ today?
A post shared by Lizzo (@lizzobeeating) on May 1, 2019 at 10:14am PDT
2019 has been the year of Lizzo, and Lyst has the numbers to prove it. The singer’s body positive fashion choices have been lauded across the globe, and searches for leotards have grown 28 per cent year on year as a direct result. Lyst also reports that “Lizzo fashion” has been a breakout search term since September.
Nine. Harry Styles
View this post on Instagram
@metcostumeinstitute #MetGala co-chair @harrystyles wore a custom #Gucci organza shirt with black lace and organza jabot, high waisted wool mohair trousers, patent leather boots, and a single bee earring with cream drop pearl and interlocking G in metal with aged gold finish. Harry Styles’ boy band days are long behind him – a fact which can be seen most evidently in his fashion-forward ensembles. Following his turn on the Met Gala red carpet back in May, searches for single earrings grew 28 per cent, whilst searches for blue suits grew 78 per cent after the Sign of the Times singer wore one in New York back in March.
Ten. Billy Porter

Rounding out the list is the inimitable Billy Porter. Each appearance on a red carpet by Porter this year has resulted in praise from the fashion set across the globe, and with good reason. According to Lyst, his most impactful look was the tuxedo-gown by Christian Siriano which he wore to the 2019 Oscars. In the 24 hours following the event, searches for the designer increased 101 per cent.

Hey guys! So, the first Monday in May just passed, and you know what that means… Met Monday!!! If you have no idea what I’m talking about: the Met Gala aka the Costume Institute Gala is hosted at the Met Museum in New York by Anna Wintour (Editor-in-Chief of Vogue) and some co-hosts too every year on the first Monday of May. Every year Anna throws this insane Gala with all the best celebs and influencers, and there is always a theme. This year the idea was ‘CAMP.’ If you didn’t know ‘Camp’ essentially means extravagant clothing. Anyways, the celebs truly brought it with their costumes this year it was amazing! Every single year I wait up to see what all the celebs are wearing! Generally, for my Met Gala post, I would choose more looks than just eight, but I genuinely loved every look on the carpet that I decided to do my top favorites. So, without further ado, let’s get on to the post!
.
.
.
First of all, Lily Collins! I have to say the most amazing thing I think about her look is her hair and makeup so shoutout to her hair stylist and makeup artist! Her Giambattista Valli dress is also stunning! I love how the dress if short in the front to show her amazing legs and then it has this long, beautiful and dramatic train. This look made it to my top 8 because she looks so ‘Camp’ and amazing!
.
.
.
Next up is Zendaya. Somehow whatever post I do, if it is fashion related Zendaya is always in it! Zendaya was a significant showstopper at this Met because her dress actually moved!  I recommend looking up the video of Zendaya at the Met, but, if you haven’t already, her stylist (dressed as her fairy godmother) pointed a magic wand at her, and her dress lit up like a Christmas tree and started expanding! She was wearing a beautiful Cinderella inspired Tommy Hilfiger dress, and it was amazing! This look will definitely be one to remember (although I still highly prefer Claire Danes similar rocked on the carpet in 2016). Even though it’s a pretty dress I overall liked the performance, she definitely made an entrance!
.
.
.
Now for some male action on the ‘Camp’ carpet! Ezra Miller, first of all, wore a very classy Burberry suit with a corset on top! But the amazing this about this look is his makeup! Ezra’s makeup artist painted 5 more eyes on Ezra’s face! This was such a fresh look, and, everyone was talking about it/will remember it! I also love how he brought a mask with him, so it was almost as if his alien-ish face with the eyes was his real face under his human face!
.
.
.
Next up is another insane male on the carpet. I am so obsessed with this look and, I have legit not stop thinking about it! Michael Urie wore two looks; he wore a suit on one half of his body and a fabulous flowy light purple dress on the other half. He also did his makeup in two cool halves. But, we would expect that the side with the dress would have makeup and the side with the suit would have no makeup, but he reversed it, which added a little something extra special! Love this look, and I loved how he really stuck to the theme and went for it.
.
.
.
Now onto Jared Leto! Another showstopper of the night. In February this year, Gucci did a runway show where some of the models carried replicas of their heads down the runway and, so Jared asked them to do the same for him for the Met. He first wore a very extravagant and cool red Gucci gown but the extravagant part was how he carried his head around for all night..! This is again something we will never forget and will go down in Met history because it is so original and was so unexpected!
.
.
.
For Dua Lipa’s first Met she stunned in an insanely beautiful Versace gown! I absolutely love this look because the colors of her dress are so vibrant and they stand out so well! But, like Lily Collins, I think the best part of her look is definitely her amazing 60s beehive hairstyle! This look was one to remember because of her amazing hair and the giant bow on her dress!
.
.
#gallery-0-5 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-5 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-0-5 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-5 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
.
Janelle Monáe wore one of the most original and prettiest looks of the night (while staying Camp!). She wore this stunning Christiano Siriano dress that looked like an abstract painting of a human face. The best part of Janelle’s look was that the eye that was on her bra actually had eyelashes that were moving! It was so great, so throughout the whole night, she had this large eye on her body blinking at everyone! Her hat ensemble was also great and unique and is somehow reminded me of ‘Alice in Wonderland’! Love this look!
.
.
.
Now finally, last but definitely not least, the queen herself: Lady Gaga! I love that Lady Gaga really brought back her really crazy extravagant self for this Met! The theme was perfect for her! Gaga ended up wearing 4 Brandon Maxwell looks. She wore one super big and long over-the-top bright pink dress. Then she wore a black strapless ballgown. Next up, was a tight pink dress and finally, she wore her underwear with tights and crazy boots! Gaga really put on a show for everyone there! It was simply incredible!!! This will definitely be a look of hers that I will always remember!
.
That’s it for today’s Met post! I hope you enjoyed reading it! Let me know if you agree with my top 8 choices and if there’s anyone else you think deserves to be on this list! I already cannot wait until next years Met!
.
Lot’s of LOVE, as always,
THE MOST CAMP EVER – MY TOP 8 FAVORITE LOOKS FROM THIS YEARS MET Hey guys! So, the first Monday in May just passed, and you know what that means… Met Monday!!!

Last night was fashion’s biggest night out with the annual MET Gala! The exclusive, invite-only event brought out the biggest stars to raise money for New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.
Every year heads are turned with bold looks and this year, stars tried to keep to the theme, “Camp: Notes on Fashion”. To be honest, as I looked through all the MET Gala updates, I didn’t really understand what “camp” meant. I still don’t, but I can tell some people exceeded expectations, while others fell a bit short. Read till the end to see who were my favorite!
THE FIERCEST
GEMMA CHAN stepped out in Tom Ford looking like the Queen that she is. She sparkled from head to toe in a custom sequined gown and cape combo. But the biggest thing that didn’t go unnoticed was the headdress inspired by the icon Elizabeth Taylor.
KENDALL JENNER joined the family in a Versace gown accompanied with Tiffany jewels. Out of the entire Kardashian-Jenner clan, she was my favorite of the night. She looked like she was channeling a phoenix with the fiery feathers and proved to be one of the most sought out models out there.
MUSIC TO MY EARS/EYES
DUA LIPA and that hair! I’m so used to seeing her with her shorter do, but campy can mean exaggerated and well, she pulled it off. She rocked such a colorful Versace gown and the detail of the top was stunning. The UK singer did quite a great job for her first time at the ball.
HALSEY was a lady in red in this Prabal Gurung dress. From the way she carried herself, I got some Wonder Woman vibes. The look was completed with gold armbands and jewelry. How epic would it have been if she met Gal Gadot?
PRETTY IN PINK
KACEY MUSGRAVES looked like a real life Barbie and I am not complaining. She strutted the pink carpet in a hot pink Moschino ensemble, even carrying a pink hairdryer around as an accessory.
EMMA ROBERTS was another actress that decided to show up to the pink carpet in a pink gown. She wore a tiered, tulle Giambattista Valli Couture dress accompanied with a flower crown and Chanel #1 would be proud.
HAPPILY EVER AFTER
MILEY CYRUS & LIAM HEMSWORTH coordinated with matching Saint Laurent pieces. Miley opted for a black and emerald green dress, while her hubby complimented her in a black suit. It wasn’t as “campy” as I thought it would be, but when the two of them walk the red carpet together, you can’t help but feel the beautiful love.
SOPHIE TURNER & JOE JONAS made their debut as a married couple and they did it in style. They defined “matching couple’s outfit” in Louis Vuitton. I thought it was very “mod” with all the color and patterns. Is mod considered campy? All I know is that they looked great together.
NICK JONAS & PRIYANKA CHOPRA made their debut at last year’s MET and kept the tradition going. They rocked Dior together: Priyanka with her extravagant dress and hair and Nick with an all white ensemble.
THE MEN
HARRY STYLES chose to wear Gucci for his debut at the MET Gala. He was tapped to co-host the event and made sure to show off his fashionable self. The black jumpsuit was sheer in all the right places. Harry topped off the look with one pearl earring.
HENRY GOLDING made his MET Gala debut last night, just like a few of his Crazy Rich Asians co-stars. He stepped out in a Versace suit, but it wasn’t your typical black and white number. He rocked a purple and blue ombré suit with a matching tie.
DARREN CRISS was definitely very “campy”. He seems to always push the boundaries and is very confident in his skin, which made this Balmain look work with matching eye make-up. The jacket was 13-lbs, so he probably got a little work-out in!
THE WINNERS AKA MY FAVORITE LOOKS
ZENDAYA graced the MET Gala red carpet looking like a Disney Princess. She channeled Cinderella in a custom Tommy Hilfiger gown, transforming on the pink carpet with a little magic from her stylist. She even left a glass slipper on the MET stairs and I am 100% here for Zenderella.
HAILEY BIEBER‘s  look was one of the first looks I saw that made me say, “wow”. I’m not sure this was “campy”, but I loved it anyway. She was pretty in pastel pink with a backless Alexander Wang gown. The gown was absolutely stunning, along with her hair and makeup, which gave her an overall classic look.  P.S. I’m mad at all of you making Degrassi/Manny Santos jokes.
Who were your favorites of the night? Did you miss anybody because I definitely missed Blake Lively!

Fashion’s most prestigious night has come and gone, and although we’re still trying to collect our thoughts, we’re breaking down the 2019 MET Gala’s biggest moments, right here, right now!
What’s up guys, it’s Emile Ennis Jr. back here on Clevver News, and you know how the saying goes to ‘save the best for last?’ Yeah, no, not today. Celebs SHOWED UP during tonight’s ‘Camp’-themed MET Gala, and I can’t possibly save the best for last when Zendaya actually brought me to tears dressed as THE bell of the ball.
With the help of some unknown fairy godmother and the stroke of a wand, Z’s Cinderella-inspired gown lit up and stole the show. Then again, do we ever expect anything less from this goddess? I’ll wait.
As we take a turn from fairytale to literal nightmare, actor and MET Gala master Ezra Miller donned, like, 12 pairs of eyeballs, complete with a pinstripe suit and I’m almost positive I’ve had nightmares about this same creature coming out from under my bed.
And then there was that time Lady Gaga and her sea urchin eye lashes AND FOUR outfit changes basically won the MET Gala. As the co-host of this year’s event, one of Gaga’s getups resembled that of a giant pink parachute, but it was THIS look that turned all the heads. The Grammy winner stripped down into a bedazzled black bikini and her signature platform heels, along with a wagon that showcased her pink Joanne cowboy hats.
Billy Porter made one of the most memorable grand entrances of the night. Seriously though, you know you’ve made it when you look like an actual trophy while being carried into an event by a squad of six shirtless dudes. EXTRA in all the best ways…
I’d also like to take a second and give a shoutout to Jared Leto, his beautiful head of hair, and his second beautiful head of hair. No I didn’t stutter, and yes you heard that correctly – Jared Leto accessorized his godly MET Gala wardrobe with a replica of his own head. I’m all out of questions and concerns – at this point, I just want to know where I can get my own head cloned.
And finally, there’s always gotta be at least one celeb who steals the show (AKA Twitter), and that goes to Celine Dion who has officially been dubbed the Meme Queen of 2019. The music legend stunned in a beautiful fringe gown, but it was her headpiece that inspired a wave of different items all thanks to the Twittersphere. Behold a dandelion, a pasta noodle rack, Hela of Thor, Yzma from The Emporer’s New Groove, a head scratcher thingy, many other household items… trust me, the list could go on, but we are LIVING.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a hot date with my Twitter feed to catch up on all that went down tonight, so right now, I want to hear all your thoughts on the 2019 MET Gala shenanigans, so get to talking down here in the comments and you can find me on my socials @EmileEnnisJr.. After that, be sure to click right over here for even more outrageous MET Gala coverage and don’t forget to subscribe and hit that bell so you never miss an update. Thanks so much for tuning in, and until next year my friends.
