Today the subject is strange... but I need YOUR help! Please.
You've probably seen this body rating chart on Instagram, or on TikTok, maybe here on Tumblr, on any platform. Right? If not, you're seeing it now 👍
Well, what I want to get at with this is, what would be the body classification of the (male) characters in The Hunchback of Notre Dame? And that's why I need your opinion 😌🫵
let's start with Phoebus:
we already know that bodies 1,2,3,7,8,9 are the impostors. This makes us think and discuss bodies 4, 5 and 6. If we analyze his body in the film, we will notice that he is a more robust man, both with his armor and with that blouse he wears at the end of the film during Esmeralda's pursuit.
Even though he is a more robust man, compared to the other male characters, he does not have defined muscles. We can notice this in the film precisely when he is chasing Esmeralda.
Of the options we had, among them 4,5,6, we can remove 6 and 5, leaving only option 4.
"But option 4 has too many defined muscles for Phoebus' body!" Yes my dear friend, I know that. But there is no option for a robust guy with undefined muscles. Option 3 is too skinny, 5 is too muscular. So we can consider option 4 anyway.
Now it's Frollo's turn:
This is already a controversial topic. I've seen many posts here on Tumblr discussing this, and they weren't very friendly. I've read that he has thick thighs, I've read that he's not as thin as he looks, but I'm here to give my opinion.
Based on the movie, it is clear that options 4,5,6,7,8,9 will not be chosen! that is a fact! However, leaving the doubt between 1,2,3.
I am aware that he is an old man, and that his muscles are no longer like those of a 20 year old. But, let's suppose he was younger. What would his body be like?
At the beginning of the film, we see a little bit of the younger Frollo, perhaps. And he didn't seem as thin as you think. Take a look.
notice the thickness of his forearms and legs. (his calves are not left out).
This is the same case as Phoebus, he doesn't have defined muscles. And it seems that we don't have many of these non-defined options in the table. Maybe option 3?
However, the arms in option 3 are still very thin compared to the arms shown in the movie screenshot. Which leads us to believe that perhaps the thickness of his arms is just a consequence of his gloves, since Paris that night was snowing. But what about your legs?
As for her legs, we can see that there is no existing clothing that could be responsible for the thickness of her thighs, apart from a type of stocking. So, considering the same reasoning as Phoebus, I think option 3 for younger Frollo will be ideal. maybe a body between option 3 and 4? or 2 and 3? I have no idea.
"What about old Frollo?"
The film makes it clear that he is a thin old man, we notice when he raises his arms to try to hit Esmeralda with the sword at the top of the cathedral, for example.
And from what I know, as people get older they tend to lose muscle mass and get saggy skin. In the case of muscle mass loss, it is generally in men. We conclude then, that old Frollo's body will be option 2.
It's time for Clopin to hit the track:
Clopin is not a muscular man. And from what the film shows he is a short and thin man. Options 4,5,6,7,8,9 do not exist.
From what I've seen in his scenes in the movie, I think body 1 or 2 would be ideal. He also didn't have defined muscles. I don't think any male character was drawn with the focus on transparent muscles. If they did, it wasn't drawn. (I say this because I've never read the book, so maybe the book will talk about it)
Dear Quasimodo:
Bodies 7,8,9 are some options.
As we see in the film, Quasi also does not have defined muscles, but he is, we can say, more chubby, I think body 8 would be the choice. besides this body being compatible with his strength.
We also can't forget about his hump. Of course! I don't think it affects Quasi's body choice at all.
I think that's just these characters. Please correct me if I've said something wrong or if I'm missing information. I'm really sorry!! And please, if you misunderstand anything, tell me.
Do you agree with this choice of bodies?
