i use this website!

first, you put your two desired colors into the two hex code things here (i use this website to find the color codes, personally)

then, you click run which sets the colors

type in your text and click the run button next to the color samples. That's where you get the text you need to copy and paste.

once you copy it, head over to your post and click that little settings icon in the corner. Scroll down until you see text editor. In that little drop down menu, there's an option for HTML. Hit that and paste that where you want your ombre text to be!

a little pro tip, it's much easier to find where you want the text to be in HTML if you type it normally in rich text.

It mostly started as kind of a joke when I read about a scrapped scene in Jaws (which never came to be filmed) of Quint watching Moby Dick in a theatre and laughing maniacally at Captain Ahab's speech. I thought it was a funny concept so I decided to incorporate it into my own personal Jaws lore. And then I actually took the time to read Moby Dick and went, "Huh. Neat."

If you think about it, Jaws is fairly reminiscent of Moby Dick. Not so much so that I would consider it a retelling, but just enough that it's obvious that Peter Benchley (and probably Steven Spielberg too to some extent) took inspiration from it. Quint himself is similar to Captain Ahab, and the ending of Jaws (particularly the novel) has a lot of similarities to the ending of Moby Dick.

All that being said, it just makes sense to me that Quint would relate to Moby Dick to some extent. Quint himself is a seafaring individual -- one that most likely came from a family of even more seafarers and was introduced to the book at a relatively young age (either through a family member or someone he knew growing up). It was definitely something that grew on him over time though, rather than immediately after his first reading of it. The more life fucked him up, the more Quint came to appreciate Moby Dick and understand it. I also have this moderately fucked up headcanon that Captain Ahab was initially Quint's least favorite character when he was young -- so much so that he was moderately terrified of him -- only for Quint to later end up becoming Captain Ahab in a way.

I feel like my Gilgamesh post was completely misinterpreted. My issue is not with Gilgamesh being an asshole, it's in how because of the fact that he does sometimes work for higher purposes, or as a secret evil to benefit society (which Fate extra CcC really hammers in)- the side of Gilgamesh that can be childish, petty, arbitrary and a mess has been swept under the rug/ sweetened up, and ignored.

Instead of being a Gilgamesh who improves and grows as a person over the course of respective franchise titles, even his worst deeds are recently excused as "he had goals", "he did it to lead humanity" etc, especially thanks to Fate/Extra CCC's thesis on how he is not a murderer but a carefully scheming, observant form of "justice". To me, I just feel a bit pissed because why can't he be BOTH, or SWAP BETWEEN these modes sometimes? Someone can still be a murderer but claim they did it for noble reasons.

What if he wants to lead humanity but also enjoys their struggles? He can have multiple intentions at once; and his noble justice ones can still work in tandem with him possibly also having arbitrary feelings and petty notions.

Honestly the replies just proved my point so perfectly well that i am kind of speechless. My issue is that Gilgamesh is never seen as both the childish king AND the wise king at the same time. He always has to be "this" or "that" but never "both".

okay so essentially the Slytherin boys consist of about 5-7 boys. Draco Malfoy(canon), Blaise Zabini(Canon), Theodore Nott(canon character, will explain), Mattheo Riddle(Fanmade), Lorenzo Berkshire(Fanmade), Tom Riddle(the third. Fanmade, not the dead one), and Regulus Black(Fanmade, again not the dead one)

You’ll typically see Draco, Blaise, Mattheo, Lorenzo, and Theodore being written about, but its not hard to find Tom Riddle and Regulus Black content either.

So like? Who are these people?? How did they come to be??

We already know Blaise and Draco, they frequent both the books and movies so i’m not going to spend a lot time talking about them.

Draco is just about canon Draco. I can’t think of anything that really changes about him in the fandom.

Blaise has a lot less book/screen time than Draco so a lot of people have taken it upon themselves to characterize him. I see him as a very posh, haughty, quiet person. I think he’s at least half Italian even if he doesnt speak the language, but that differs person to person.

Okay here’s where it gets a bit complicated so stay with me(if you need clarification on anything PLEASE feel free to dm me or send in another ask <3)

Theodore Nott

Mentioned in the books maybe twice, all we know is he’s a slytherin pureblood with some h e a v y ties to Voldemort. Because we have so little information on Theodore, all of it’s basically made up.

Basic information:

He’s fancasted as Lorenzo Zurzolo, and Theodore himself is Italian and completely fluent in the language. You’ll mostly see clips of him from the show Baby(netflix)

Most people agree that his mom is dead, but i’ve seen some fics where shes alive and just ill, and i’ve seen fics where shes alive and just absent. I characterize Theo as a total mamas boy, but again its up to the author.

His dad seems to be abusive or neglectful. Again, death eater dad who is pretty much besties with Voldemort. Daddy issues

I characterize him as best friends with Mattheo Riddle(explain later) because of their family ties, but they truly get along.

He’s an avid smoker with a pension for ciggies, but i’ve also seem him characterized a few times as the Hogwarts plug which i think is SO fun.

He’s this really quiet, observant, yet flirtatious character. He’s a ladies man but still a heart breaker. Everyone wants to sleep with Nott, and thats okay.

Mattheo Ridde

Mattheo comes from a draco x reader fanfic called Possesive by yasmineamaro. I think you can still find it on Wattpad. He’s completely fanmade.

Basic Information:

He’s fancasted by Benjamin Wadsworth, and you’ll mostly see clips of him from the show Deadly Class

He’s the son of Voldemort and Bellatrix Lestrange, and depending on if the author believes in Tom Riddle the Third, Mattheo is the second child.

Again, Avid smoker, also I see him as a heavy drinker. Type of guy to come into class reeking of pot and act like nothing happened.

Fights galore man. Imagine having the dark lord as your dad, no doubt he was fuckin traumatized as a child. This is in response to an ancient ask from around 2018 so feel free to ignore it. I found that post about fandom discourse on your account and found out the sh/eith asks on your blog. So here's some clarification about it.

The majority of the bullying and harassment in the fandom was done by kl shippers, specifically the antis and the normal kl fans got caught in the crossfire. I dont know what hunty did but a major reason why they were on the kl hit list was because they were actively compiling all the harassment and vile behaviour of the fandom (regardless of the ship of choice). This doesn't absolve any harm done by sk shippers definitely but there is a big gap between the severity of bad behaviour on both sides.

The kl fans told a gay man (David Gaider) that he was a pedophile for liking sk and tried to get him fired. Harassed a non binary lesbian who worked on the show and painting her as predator and threatening to hurt her till she stopped wanting to appear at panels, threatening a voice actor's children to the point that he had to start reporting people, and the continued and absolutely vile treatment of Lauren Montgomery for 2 whole years at every perceived slight to their golden by.

The reason kl fans were called delusional by some was because they made several really bad reaches like writing entire manifestos about why kl would be canon and calling it a bible and a testament despite the show runners repeatedly saying it was never on the table and it boiling down to head canons. Insisting that every a/llurance interaction was secretly about kl and insisting every sk interaction was platonic but then redrawing those exact same scenes as kl. Insisting that Kihyun's Keith groping Shiro's tiddy art is brotherly. Telling gay men that that using words like brother or family for your crush when you don't fully understand your feelings means they have psychosexual problems and have an incest fetish then turning around and insisting that C/atradora, another ship popular with kls was actually just the lesbian experience since they were actually raised as sisters. Outside of that there was sending sk shippers gore and cp and telling one they should have died from their cancer.

As for the ages and the sk age discourse, the backstory was revealed in season 7, in season 1 the characters were introduced as 5 teenagers in space meeting aliens, which included Shiro. Now considering Shiro has always looked like an older guy even when he was a teen in the original series people went with it, even those who didnt usually read him as an older teen. Later Keith came back about 2 years older while Lance was still 17 so they started insisting that Keith was mentally stunted and therefore still a "baby adult" at about 20. This was because back when people said Shiro could be 18-19-20 that Keith being 17 is still weird. But kl fans started insisting that all ptsd sufferers were inherently abusive in relationships and that he had "scrambled eggs for brains". They also insisted that he could only be shipped with Allura who was an adult according to them. in season 2 a non canon book was released that said Keith was 18 at the start of the series and Shiro was 25. Unless people were obsessively looking at this stuff you wouldn't know that. Later Allura's va made a reference to Allura dealing with trauma like an average teen which instantly had kls throwing shiro/allura fans under the bus. Also note that they were very against lotor/lance and harassed the shippers within a week of the ship becoming a thing. Basically every ship outside of kl involving these two became problematic in one way or another, sk and a/llurance taking the worst hits. By the end of season 6 kls had their chats leaked discussing their fears of sk becoming canon and needing to cope by rereading the kl manifestos and doubling down on harassing the sk and a/llurance shippers. By this point Lauren Montomery had already liked fanart of shiro and keith making out (s2), Barlee had liked art of them snuggled up (s3), the famous "Shiro loves you baby, he's looking at keith" art had already been posted by Chirs palmer (s1), Josh Keaten had already coined the ship name (s1), Kihyun Ryu was drawing Keith groping Shiro (s6) and Bex had already made several jokes about Shiro and Keith being a couple (s1-7). At this point kl fans started harassing the staff directly and calling them predatory, after their infamous attempt at blackmailing them to make kl canon didn't work. They would change their approved non ship questions during panels to put the staff on the spot, they recorded Jeremy Shada without his consent for a scrap of kl evidence, they posted videos of children forcing them to watch vld, they posted uncensored pics of two classmates (minors) for wearing blue and red, as well as of their very very small students because they were kl coded, they spammed Jeremy Shada's posts with his gf insisting its uncomfortable cuz they look like siblings and how he should date Keith's va instead (a married man btw), they then proceeded to harass Shada when he lost his cool and ranted about the behavior of kl fans in a panel calling him awful things. They told csa survivors that they should be ashamed of liking a ship.

In a later panel for season 6 Josh Hamilton flat out said that sk were in no way related and JDS said that people would come out of the show either thinking they were together or thinking they are just bros hinting at some degree of ambiguity. It was only in season 7 after much of the thing was over that we saw their backstory, the pics that are used to harass shippers. By this point most sk shippers had a completely different backstory for them and those who shipped them from before didn't ship them in this variation of canon. He was also dating someone else during this period anyway.

As for why people ever started shipping sk in the first place, its because Bex made two snapchat posts about the very first episode refering to Shiro being Keith's true love and Shiro bringing the kids (the other three paladins) to his and Keith's date night. Mind you, both Josh Keaten and Bex were actively harassed for saying that sheith was a perfectly normal and healthy ship.

TLDR: The vld show had no show bible and the ages were never elaborated on, people didn't know shit about how sk met and a lot of the narrative is made up head canons being pushed as facts. Majority of the claims against sk shippers is revisionism that was done by antis and these things can be proven with all the records and screenshots maintained by hunty and several other blogs. That being said there were assholes in all ships, even the ones that insist they were unproblematic and innocent.

Could I ask for some advice writing opening scenes? I've always struggled beginning the fic and writing opening scenes difficult lol

ok this ask is fairly old I'm so sorry for totally forgetting about it and letting it get buried but I will try to give advice now!

opening scenes are awful tbh. I struggle so much with them. usually I find the best method is to try and figure out where the plot starts and start just a tiny bit before that. of course 'tiny bit before' is relative, that can mean a few hours before shit hits the fan or days before it hits the fan.

for example, with one of my more recent fics ready set detonate, the fic starts with phil finding fit being held captive. this has no bearing on the main plot at all though. after he rescues fit the two go to a bar that night and that's when they get tubbo's message that kickstarts the main plot. I started the story roughly a few hours before to introduce the world and my pov character and to give some semblance of context, but not enough to fully immerse the reader in the world just yet.

another example is with through a glass divine. I started the story with the pythia waking up from a vision of what's going to happen at the ball that night followed by his discussion with schlatt about the vision and it's possible consequences. but the main plot doesn't kick off till the next scene that night at the ball when tommy kidnaps the pythia.

so I guess a rule of thumb I kind of (unintentionally) follow is to set my opening scene like, one scene before the main plot kicks off? just enough to give the readers a taste of the world and introduce the characters but not fully immersing them in it.

of course I don't always follow this rule. with clinic of course the story starts off with tommy walking home from his shift at the cafe only to immediately find a supervillain bleeding out in an alley. it's all one long scene and I really only give tommy a few in universe 'minutes' before the main plot kicks off. still it follows the idea of giving readers a taste and some context without fully immersing them in it just yet.

Hi, I've seen a lot about affirming 'to get' and 'to remind', and it's always described in different ways, so I have 3 questions that have been bugging me

1. is the difference between the two that; one knows that they already have it in imagination, and the other doesn't?

2. does it have anything to do with how someone says an affirmation or no? because in both cases you're still telling yourself you have it

3. wouldn't the two eventually overlap and mean the same thing, or if someone imagines 'to get' they'd just never understand that they already have it?

If you answer these, I just want to say in advance that I'm truly thankful, as this topic has been making me run loops in my mind.

Hey!! I’m not much of an affirmer but I do have some answers for you.

For number 1: The thing is with affirmations is that everyone believes something different and as a god of your own reality whatever you believe will happen, regardless of if you’re affirming to get or not. However, when I see those stories of robotic affirming, I think a long the way they do start to believe it’s theirs, which is why it’s reflected. Although some may argue the subconscious manifests things into the 3d from repetition, which their method of choice for that repetition would be affirmations, but again they start to believe it so it manifests. It’s up to you which one you choose to believe, none of them can really be “wrong” when you’re the creator. Pick and choose which information you believe and which is complete bull.

2. Nope. Affirmations are just a method, not a mystical way of getting your desires. They help you get into the feeling of the wish fulfilled and solidify you having your desires (they give you confidence to keep on persisting.) There is no special way to affirm, it’s the feeling behind them that in my opinion manifests. Affirmations are just words/sentences.

3. Like I said, a long the way it would eventually become belief, but what I think those creators mean when they say, “to get” means that you will say an affirmation, eg, “I have a beautiful body” but then look at the 3d and take it as final and desperately affirm for something to change and repeat that affirmation while still caring about the 3d and never changing or believing your affirmation. It doesn’t matter how many times you say you have a beautiful body, if you don’t believe it, it’s not gonna happen. When people affirm, they kind of get detached to what the 3d is showing them and a long the way their being changes to one of having instead of wanting, so it manifests.

I believe you may or may not have awnsered a similar ask, but as i read chaos theory i'm sitting here like "oh damn, y/n is really blowing this poor man's mind, heart and soul to oblivion with the knowledge that she genuinely loves him and his affections aren't unrequited or driven by guilt" like damn Rev, you and y/n are going all out on poor vincent there. I honestly can't blame you. Even though it overwhelms the sweet man, he really needs genuine love from someone who's dead set on loving him and him alone.

Anywho, question if we get more content from Square Enix (i pray we do, i really do i feel starved for vincent now) that primarily involves vincent more, are we gonna get to see our man grapple with this knowledge and come to the understanding that the love he's developed with y/n definitely isn't one-sided once you're able sink claws into the new content and flesh out your story? Are we also gonna see his demons come out and play a bit more as well when that happens? I love myself some chaos "scares" and well, i'm kinda itching to see if we get some other demon "scares" sprinkled in èwé

Good questions Anon, this is a huge one so I’ll answer it bit by bit lol.

To start with, I have absolutely left some breadcrumbs in Chaos Theory that hint at some of the other plot things that are going on. These hints are incredibly subtle, maybe too subtle honestly lmao, but I have seen them mentioned in comments so 😅. I do intend to reveal some important plot stuff in the sequel covering the Temple of the Ancients. I’m talking shocking stuff lmao, so that’s definitely coming even if SE doesn’t give us any more Vincent content until part 3.

Without knowing where SE are going to go with part 3, I have a bunch of plot ideas that are somewhat vague, so that I can fill them in with specifics eventually. Unfortunately this means that even when I reveal stuff, it’s still gonna be kind of vague 😭😭. So apologies for that.

I also want to add that while I obviously want to finish this story, I can’t exactly commit to writing another fic once part 3 comes out in 3 years time. So, I am apologising in advance that this story might never end up finished.

Specifically with regards to your question, yes Vincent would have to come to terms with allllll of that lol. I mentioned in a previous ask that as long as the timeline works out, their initial “I love you’s” would be just after visiting Lucrecia in her cave. Emotions at that point would be exceptionally high, and Vincent is forced to make a choice and confront his own feelings.

Like, just consider that conversation for a sec. Because Reader knows a lot of Vincent’s backstory by that stage, it’s not just about him having to make a choice about clinging to the past or moving forward. It’s also coming to terms about what Lu(sexually and experimentally) and Hojo(experimentally) did to him, which he only really does in Dirge in canon. Reader is also smart enough to connect the dots on her own that he might be Seph’s father too. There’s just a whole host of things there and there’s no way I’d ever let Vincent get away with not coming to terms with all of it 😂.

With regards to his monsters, of course they would be making more appearances. I love them and I’m way too much of a monster fucker to ignore them. Each of them would get their own time in the spotlight hehehe.

Honestly they’re one of the main reasons I’m reluctant to commit to a part 3 fic. As a quick example, Chaos Theory has 7 smut scenes. Any sequel would need each monster, the love confession and then an “Under the Highwind” end of the world scene. Thats 6 before we even start on them just having fun and exploring each other, and you know, the actual plot lmao.

How do I know if I have a queerplatonic crush or a romantic one?

Me and a lot of my aroace friends confused tertiary attraction and romantic attraction a lot 😭 There's a lot of overlap so it's quite difficult to tell the difference sometimes.

How I figured out that my "romantic crushes" weren't actually romantic is quite a long story. The gist of it is that I reflected on all of the "crushes" that I had over the past few years and realized that I either wanted to be really good friends with them, liked their style, or I just wanted to fit in with the other girls in my friend group.

I don't know what it's like to experience romantic attraction, but I do know what it's like to have a queerplatonic crush! To me, it feels very similar to how many of my alloromantic friends described their romantic crushes: feeling giddy around them, the classic butterflies-in-stomach, etc. I liked the idea of doing typically "romantic" things with them, but I didn't want to label I and my squish's hypothetical future relationship as romantic.
