Old Blog is Back
Hey all, so my original side blog, @secondhandskootur, has been resurrected from Tumblr Purgatory. I'll be keeping this blog up as an archive/backup in case Tumblr decides to try pulling more bullshittery, but I won't be using it like I have been.

coming up with an au were a dead character lives but shaking my head while i do it so everyone watching knows i support the role their death played in the narrative and consider it a legitimate writing choice
#@prev yeah from a narrative standpoint quint's canon send-off makes the most sense. my only real gripe is that hooper should've died too#but also god the things i would do for a quint lives ending/au where he survives but actively loses something of himself#& realises just how much he's fucked up. which then leads to him (slowly) becoming a better person#a story where quint seriously gets knocked down several pegs and given a slice of humble pie. where he has to look in the mirror and realis#that he was just as much of a monster as the shark#sorry I'm weak for a version of quint who's generally a good guy while still retaining his chaotic grumpy old man energy

i have a lot of headcanons about brody but i think my biggest one is that he wishes he was a country boy. he doesn't seem to like the big city even if he wishes he could return to it; he comes off a lot like a guy who wants some peace and quiet but on dry land. i honestly think that he would drop everything and move the family out to rural wyoming if he knew it would all work out. brody's just a very nervous guy to me and tbh he'd be much better off somewhere peaceful and kind of isolated. i also headcanon him as a jazz and country music shill but that's for another day

#he's kind of like a whippet to me or perhaps a chihuahua#<- prev i'd say brody is a whippet tbh. basically just any dog that's long gangly and anxious (i always thought of him as a borzoi lol)#hooper is the one with chihuahua energy i think because he a lot of pent up anger#quint would be some sort of stray mutt. i'm not sure what exsct breed though

the city where we live doesn't allow public barbecues so my brother fucking welded a grill to a handcart and now hosts "chill and grill sessions" where he sends all his friends his live location so they can hunt him down on their bikes with sausages in their backpacks while he carts it around evading the police like some sort of barbecue vigilante, grilling on the run. i have never been prouder of him

What if I told you that the novel gets even worse?
Started reading the jaws novel today. Why is it like that.
#tbh i have a love-hate relationship with the book. yeah it's bad but it kinda grew on me & there's some parts of it that i actually like#that being said#without spoiling anything#there's so many subplots crammed into this book that it's enough to leave your head in a spin#and a few of them just don't really go anywhere and could honestly be left out entirely#also warning book hooper is an unlikeable asshole (you'll see why later) and quint doesn't show up until towards the end
