I wonder, with the possibility of having a sing 3 sequel, I wonder if Ryan would even be in it. If he would be added , I'm curious if they would redesign him to be more unique, in Sing 2 he looked like any other tiger character in the movie, considering he has the same models as the tiger background, and considering that the main cast have unique models that differentiate them from the other background characters that are the same animals as them.

I wonder what would his redesign would look like to make him more unique that removes him from the background but also relates to him as a part of the cast.

What do you think his design would be if he was added?

Ryan does actually have a unique model! His stripe pattern and eye color is completely unique to him, as well as his build being slightly different. Which is why the tiger we see at the auditions is Ryan in my opinion, as legit every other tiger has the same stripes besides that one (who we actually never see audition so might just be there as a represenative).

We only see two other tigers in the movies (that I could find) and while their stripe patterns aren't the same, they are more similar to each other than Ryan. Ryan has a distinct flame shaped stripe on his left cheek. And while the other two's stripes are similar, that's because bengal tigers do have those type stripes on their cheeks.

See below the facial patterns on an actual bengal tiger:

And then the stripes of the two other tigers we see:

And finally, there's my boy Ryan:

They are distinct from the other stripe patterns we've seen, no longer sickle shaped but flame shaped on the left cheek.

And while it is compressed in the auditions photo. you can see the blobs that would likely look like the other flame branches if he had higher pixelation in this frame (he's tiny and in the background).

And the other two tigers we see, though not in the best pixelation or lighting, seem to have dark colored eyes, while Ryan's are very noticeably green, and likely a shade between olive and sage green judging by how it changes in the various lightings. Even in the auditions, that tiger has a lighter coloured iris.

And as for builds, we'll use a handy dandy chart!

As for the other two, we actually see two different builds for them too. While Ryan is an inverted triangle (mesomorph), which is also Johnny's too for reference, the other tigers do seem to be rectangular in build (to be fair they are in loose clothing and that is my perspective of it but this also would align more with actual tigers too). They also differ from endomorphs and ectomorphs as well.

Ok now on to the redesign. The reason Ryan looks more like a background character despite his unique model is his clothing imo. Whenever we see him, he's either in a uniform (the leotard and leggings), or very plain, nondescript clothing (the costume underclothes and the suit).

So, we can fix this by giving him a new outfit! Which is amazing because otherwise we would have to change the entire model and that would take forever lol.

Almost all the teen/younger characters wear jeans in the movies (the exceptions are the eldest two, Nooshy and Ash) and Ryan does seem to be at least close to Johnny's age so he joins the jean club. Now adding cuffed light wash jeans to his outfit.

Second, Ryan gives off strong perfectionist vibes. You don't become a principal (or at least high up) dancer at a company like the one we see him in as young as he likely is without an ambitious and perfectionist streak a mile wide. So we're gonna go with something that codes that to the audience (aka yes, somewhat stereotypical clothing for that cliche), a dark green sweatshirt over a white button up. This type of aesthetic is also not used by any of the main cast so far and the dark green accent will highlight his eye color, making it stand out more and further giving him a unique look.

And for accessories, which please let's give these kids jewelry, I typically describe Ryan as having two double lobe earrings, with one being a long simple gold one and another that is either a rainbow heart or a gold stud. I also give him a jade and gold necklace (which is tiger shaped in the continuation fic) and have him wear dark green sneakers for more green accents. You can also add in a brown or black belt if you want so he can tuck in the sweatshirt and shirt, but those don't necessarily have to be showing.

So, yeah, that's how I would change Ryan's design to make him fit more in with the rest of the main cast! I really hope we do see more of Ryan, though I am not sold on the idea of a third movie, so I'm pretty sure I'd prefer to see him in shorts lol. anyways here some food for you guys. (Refs of Caleb and Evelyn, i still have to fix Philips o<-<)

Completely free to use but was basically based on as accurate as i could... basically assume. I took some creative liberties as well ut you know, like how I gave Eve heterochromia because there is actually a good chance her eyes arnt golden like eda's (take lillith's or Gwendolyn's for say) We dont even know if her hair is actually red or not it could be brown but that disturbs me for some reason lol ive just imagined her with red hair for sooo long

But heres some headcanon ones for fun!!

Creature Feature Core. Had fun just messing around with ideas. I redesigned dove logo on the rebus box and made into like a family crest.

Other things to note:

I hc that she is an avid "beastkeeper" esque witch and wanted to study the mysterious fauna of the fabled human realm, so she created her own portal to it.

I dont know who came up with this idea but I liked the idea of her being half demon or demon-like.

I think shes really good at illusion magic, in S2E1 Masha talks of how she gave Caleb "visions" of a starge world, so perhaps she teased him with illusions of the isles before actually taking him there. I also think Illusions combined with beastkeeping could equal shapeshifting?? idk maybe im reaching but I LOVE shapeshifter characters so maybe im biased...

The feathers in her skirt are cardinal, bluejay, and goldfinch hehe... and the one in her hair is a barn owl feather and its supposed to represent Caleb <3

Lastly I forgot to change this but I like how each witch almost has a certain color for their magic, even if its not for a specific type. I like to think hers would be a magenta-red color, like the fire magic she was using in one of the Hollow Mind portraits.

Anyways, the jewlery he has, like the cross and the rings were both from his parents that he kept and no i was not aware that puritans actually DO NOT like using the cross so lets just say he kept it hidden.

He is missing his left ring finger because he had a lot of oopsies while carving in the beginning, hes gotten really good at it though.

Ayo, someone by the name of Curly-B-Blog is redlining art of yours from 2020 (while pretending that it's actually Sai Scribble's work), and kind of being a dick about it. just thought you should know.

You know, originally I was just gonna brush it off, but then I went back to look at my old SU art from 2020 and did so much self reflection from then till now.

I think this was around the time I was just learning how to do perspective and tried to use the perspective tool on Procreate for the first time? :0 and I remember telling Sai “Sai I have this STUPID idea, I CANT believe it this stupid joke it’s so DUMBBBB, it’s living rent free in my BRAIN I SWEAR THIS IS GONNA BE SO STUPID DCIUWHEFIUWHIRFUIW4F” and being super excited to show her the finished product. People still think Sai created the Cursed Skin Gloves comic and I think it’s hilarious wjhwnuhwijwuiw

The comic was received very well and it made LOTS of people laugh and I’m still proud of this comic to this very day! :D and tbh if it wasn’t for my obsession for Sai’s Switcheroo AU I never would have found my passion in comic work! (love you you stinky hoe @saiscribbles 🩷)

HOWEVER…. I definitely still had lots to learn! I wasn’t very good at perspective at the time I’ll admit, but I was definitely having lots of fun learning :3

And throughout the past 4 years, ALOT has happened.

I graduated from college with TWO fancy pieces of expensive papers in Visual Development in Animation and Illustration learning from Will Kim and Jeff Soto, and as a I was working with the funny voice man Cougar MacDowall as a comic/story artist and reached in total around 7 million views for my fan series FNAF Security Malware Breached (it was even #21 on the trending list around the time of my birthday 🩷 what a lovely gift), had an insane opportunity to work with Mike Geno and with the voice cast from The Amazing Digital Circus for a fan song as a background and character asset artist, Vivienne Medrano liking and sharing my silly Overlord Husk AU comics, currently on my route to getting my certificate from Aaron Blaise’s Character design program and graduating from Marc Brunet Art School, and now I am completing my first year as professional colorist and art assistant for my storyboard and comic mentor Michelle Lam, aka Mewtripled! (Also I’ll be heading out to Lightbox Expo 2024 on October 26 with Michelle and the team so if y’all ever wanna meetup hahahajaj wink wink wink wink wink)

im gonna be honest im slowly realizing i dont give a shit about "same face syndrome" as a concept

like. i GUESS unless youre a serious professional character designer, i dont see why ur characters or style needs to be 100% unique all the time. why is it not ok for characters to have similar faces/shapes unless its like, a real professional-ass cartoon. hell even then a lot of cartoons/medias do have "same face syndrome" and rely heavily on colors to differentiate between the characters (care bears comes to mind). and yet theyre still cool and fun and people love them. so whats so fuck then

for a long time i was convinced by others that having same face syndrome was the worst sin you could do as a character designer. and like..i GET it, i suppose--really good and appealing character designs ARE unique to the point of being identified only by silhouette/shapes, and it looks bad if you have a lineup of characters w/o hair or clothes and you cant tell them apart. but now im like. who fucking cares LOL like??? you get me???? literally who cares actually who cares !!!!

as long as youre having fun and not Physically Required to have extremely unique character shapes and features, why the hell should you confine yourself to that mindset.. just have fun.....idk.... like who cares man. we ballin

my dmmd au where mink is actually a brown guy instead of being vaguely yellow and grey. left edit is just a skintone edit while the right contains more natural looking feathers. i also gave him a stronger face

i spent a while trying to pinpoint his nation. unfortunately his design contradicted itself a bit and the slapping of random feathers and dreamcatchers everywhere pisses me awf. i wish that the artists had chosen to stick with one specific nation, and the closer i looked it actually wasn't as bad as i initially thought, but there were still some pretty egregious errors made with his design that could be avoided with CURSORY research, and for a company like n+c, big as they are with the resources to do better research, is unacceptable. to be quite honest, i almost hesitate to even make this post because i really don't want people to run with the information ill be discussing. while i am a native dude that enjoys DMMD, i know so many others that dislike mink, his design, and story because he falls into quite a few racist tropes. also, just because i can kind of glean some information about mink's culture based on his character design/home design, does not mean that it's a 100% accurate portrayal of said culture.

TL;DR: i used to think he was supposed to be ojibwe, but upon further inspection i headcanon mink as navajo/dine and afronative, my reasoning below the cut. im gonna make a later post discussing the nuances of his route and the meta racism in DMMD cause its been a loooooooong time since ive played his route. while im not navajo myself (im tsalagi) i at least have the life experience to tell the goddamn difference between nations lol. i also love the inclusion of a rainbow in his design as a fellow indigenous rainbow enjoyer

note: dine and navajo are the same thing, but im gonna use navajo because thats what more people are familiar with.

the easiest way to start would be with his most obviously unique feature, his locced hair. loccing among NA nations wasn't super common, but it did happen due to the culture & rituals around hair (no cutting unless under specific circumstances, braids/plaits end up "locced" from saltwater, etc etc). to me, however, his locced hair didn't feel like a purposeful design choice. meaning, i dont think the artist chose the locced hair because they wanted to convey something traditional about mink's culture, i think they chose it just because it looks cool, or because mink kind of just falls into the "vaguely brown" category. i'd also be okay with interpreting him as black/native, which i think im gonna do because i know that there are (or was, dead fandom) plenty of black dmmd fans that identify with him

his second most unique cultural indicator is his dreamcatcher. unfortunately, dreamcatchers have kind fallen into that "vague native design" bullshit, but they do have a tribal origin: aanishinabe. again though, due to the sheer abundance of people slapping dreamcatchers onto vaguely native characters, i cant say that this is a strong enough point for me to say definitively that he's aanishinabe. also, you dont fuckin wear dreamcatchers. end of, they're not supposed to be on your body.

THEN there are even more important indicators to me that denote exactly which nation he's from.

just judging base on the patterns used on his traditional tapestries, blankets, and runners, would denote some sort of southwestern nation. now they're not accurate designs necessarily, but i can understand and see clearly where they took inspiration from.

the peace pipe on the wall in both his home and his hideout immediately indicate navajo, a southwestern nation. the fact that he has a strong religious orientation to smoking herbs (im assuming in place of tobacco) is also very navajo to me. the pottery in his home & hideout are also very strongly southwestern, as pottery was a very common art in the southwest. the fact that he has an altar at all is unique because altars are actually not common practice and are usually only found in the southwest, which is actually a good detail point whether it was intentional or not. ignore the dreamcatchers which were, again, thrown in randomly

and of course his homeland contains mountains and more importantly, cliffs and canyons which is another southwest feature. there's also his fuckass cowboy boots which are VERY southwestern

IGNORING the dreamcatcher in his hair AGAIN, he's also flexin beaded jewelry. to me, these are just like regular beads, but you could interpret them as turquoise if you wanted. traditional turquoise jewelry is usually inlayed onto silver bands or pieces as well as strung together like so. his white belt also contains a very southwestern design.

as much as some elements of his design annoy the fuck out of me, i love, love, love, love the inclusion of the rainbow in mink's character design. the rainbow is so important to so many different nations, and mink being a religious person, it actually makes a lot of sense for him to have this sort of draw to rainbows or rainbow colored items. specifically in navajo culture, rainbows are used as Bridges between The Navajo and The Holy People, basically communicating with a higher power. a rainbow is also a symbol of the 7 sacred rituals in navajo culture, one color per ritual. here's a youtube video about it, learn something

i do have some thoughts on mink de-loccing his hair in his good ending, but i think i will have to save that for another post further down the line

You loved your boyfriend for being the most supportive of your failed culinary career but you adored taking pictures for the Smosh and Good Mythical Kitchen marketing team- it was your newfound passion and helped you to get through the office's endless teasing about you practically married to a guy who can cook very well and then you who burns water somehow.

↳ (But you wouldn't change it for the world, there was nothing like eating meals cooked personally from a literal chef every meal of the day and Trevor was more than happy to serve and watch you eat the food he made, it was a major love language shared between the two of you).

↳ Fun Fact! You met Trevor by being kicked out of culinary school after being deemed "too much of an endangerment to your fellow staff and students." But what they really were meaning to say was that you were just too good of a chef that they couldn't handle your heat in the kitchen (or at least that was what you told yourself to sleep better at night).

Trevor did not have the heart to tell you that you were quite frankly terrible at cooking but you were an excellent baker... while under supervision (of course). But all the rest of the Smosh cast and crew would think otherwise often steering you clear of the communal kitchen or distracting your very kind offers to help by doing other tasks.

Some had even had the guts to say it, albeit very nicely, to your face that you should not be in the kitchen. Yet Trevor insisted that you were fine as long as he or another trained staff member was there to supervise your culinary explorations.

It quite frankly became a joke around the office, so much so that even the marketing team but up anti-(name) signs, your face in a red circle with a line through it, to show that the kitchen was off limits except it you were with Trevor.

Other departments got creative, the set-design crew made a finger-blender that Shayne used cos-playing as you during a Try Not to Laugh episode recently that had you howling with laughter. The next best was the Games Team forcing you to play overcooked with Trevor and Josh from Good Mythical Morning and then half-way-through switching to real life.

Everyone on set that day lost hair and years off of their life. You swore to see Josh growing grey hairs by the end of it and Trevors loving eyes but shaking and nervous hands and smile pinning you down as you barley missed your fingertips every time you chopped a vegetable or turned the over up way to high to steam a fish.

But the greatest of them all was you and Trevor all completing the 'Can't see, hear, or talk challenge' in the Kitchen with the rest of the Good Mythical Morning Kitchen staff. Trevor played the can't hear character as you choose the cant speak one and Josh the can't see.

At one point you were waving a knife around trying to prove your point without the ability to speak as Trevor panicked, throwing his hands up in the air and shouting as Josh felt around almost getting attacked accidentally by you before everyone was calling the shoot off and even debating of airing the video. (They eventually did and it raised to the top of trending over the culinary section on youtube, take that culinary professor!).

I cant stop thinking about trolls, specifically Floyd. Finally decided to just go wild and draw fanart. Im going insane over this little guy

Pretty short theory/rant under cut

I also really love the idea that he’s been hanging out with the rock trolls since the brothers separated. It could even kinda make sense. His looks kinda remind me of something you could see a rock troll looking like, just mess up his hair a bit. Ofc he has wayy too bright colors to be a rock troll, but he was born as a pop troll. (I can just imagine how much he would stand out oml.) Not to mention, Prince D said in the second movie that trolls can enjoy more than just one type of music. He was also apparently kidnapped 2 months prior to the movie, and the second movie was just a week before the third, meaning Floyd had been missing for 1 month and 3 weeks by the time of the second movie. Someone would probably try to look for him, but after a while of no signs they could’ve just assumed him dead and given up. By the time of the movie the rock trolls wouldn’t even think to ask anyone of the other tribes about him, because he’d been missing for a while and because the whole rock-apocalypse was going on. Only reason i can see it not working is if the rock trolls were against any type of music the entire time and either would’ve just kicked him out or forced him to only play rock (which i don’t believe Floyd would be able to do). Really going into theory mode here: Floyd showing up could be what made Queen Barb find out about the other tribes and first get the idea of the world tour, but only starting to plan it after Floyd disappears and they fail to find him.

I would also love if this was true and every time Floyd plays rock music he gets aggressive and scares the sht out of his brothers lol.

I literally came up with the oc as i drew this, i just wanted some random guy for the pose and suddenly i had a character. He’s just someone that basically clung himself to Floyd immediately when he got to the village. Bro’s kind of a bully but he’s also a loser. (Just wanna say I’m not the type of person that ships ocs with canon, and i’m not doing it here) They end up having a sort of rivalry, as Floyd gets better at Rock and manages to mix it with his pop, he gets a bit popular. Meanwhile Brick has never really tried to gain an audience, but when Floyd gets followers and Brick was already challenging him, he ultimately gets some attention too. They sort of team up and become a duo, but they ensure that they’re still rivals. Inevitable though, they become friends, hang out a lot, sing and dance, like normal trolls. Brick teaches Floyd some specific things about rock and Floyd tells him about his tribe and brothers. Brick would be the devastated when Floyd got kidnapped and would be the last to stop searching. (Never stopped hoping he was alive though). Of course though, he is a rock troll and theres no way he would show how much he cares about Floyd.

-gets headaches due to the circlet (phantom pain)

-he speak and read fluently ancient Chinese , however he got problems with modern language

-he usually sleeps with lil monkeys around

For Mac

- his ears are too delicate for piercings. They would hurt.

- thin , straight/wavy fur like smoke . He can't stand cold

- he can always hear past and present but future is randomly whispering to him

- he got lower body temperature (due to the shadow nature)

- when drunk he looks like a beast but he's a snuggly wuggly teddy bear

-he takes care of his fur regularly himself

For Mei (because it's lacking in other categories and I don't remember more :'D)

- When she fights she tunes into imaginary music in the background. Like Gwen from spiderverse 2

About S5

*sigh* Vent warning. not directed at anyone in particular

I am unable to put up presentable opinion on this season

Also warning to everyone that will read it

If you are here to defend/ you are touchy on subject of S5 please avert your eyes.

The season was mid at best. , script was rushed, the core of it was S3 with meek antagonist, the most evil character there was a bug demon with many eyes, and SACRIFICE was basically word for this season.

Other things I remember from it is a burnt dumpling and Nezha's mech. Oh and Wukong being useless, Mac carrying season on his back , MK being even more stupid than usual. A random guy with a pagoda and a Twink snake. Nothing else .

Let's put my opinion about the animation now :D

Flying Bark got sacrificed just like MK in this season lol

The animation was a pure nightmare, it's like Seven deadly sins Incident

And if you guys think it will get much better from that in one year (let's say for example they will produce another season next year) you live high on copium and delulu.

Our juicy yummy frame by frame animation was taken away and they gave us RAGDOLL animation.

What does it mean? -AND HERE TUMBLR DECIDED TO CRASH ON ME AND IM WRITING IT 3rd TIME :D- you know how hieroglyphs are animated? Ye, that's basically it with extra steps! HOW FUN. NOW WE HAVE PUPPETS 2D. A FREAKING GACHA FROM YT IF YOU MUST. THOSE IN SOME CASES ARE EVEN BETTER ANIMATED THAN OUR SHOW ITSELF BTW. This has it's perks! I guess. It's cheaper and easier to make episodes! :D the cons are we will no longer see good battles in the show. yay "But we saw Wukong vs MK! And snippet of Wukong vs Mac fight!" please, spare me. If you are telling me those were good fights , that is half assed animation they have no idea how works and two dots clashing with eachother you should go rewatch other seasons. the fucking disgrace and audacity.

But no matter. That i can live off, that i can gulp down.

YOU KNOW WHAT I CAN'T? THE SHEER AMOUNT OF MISTAKES ON BASIC LVL IN ART. I am sitting here looking at those colors, those lines this fucking scenography and ask- what a fucking newbie did this .

AND BEFORE ANY OF U F NERDS WILL COME TO ME AND SAY "UUU ACTUALLY ITS LIGHTING FAULT-" NO ITS FUCKING NOT.

THEY CAN'T EVEN USE SAME COLORS AS IN THE PRIOR SHOT , THEY CANT EVEN SAMPLE IT PROPERLY . BETWEEN THOSE SHOTS NOTHING CHANGE THEREFORE THE LIGHTING IS THE FUCKING SAME

HAVE THEY MISSED LIKE ALL BASIC LESSONS IN ART SCHOOLS? OR SOMETHING? LIKE THIS IS A JOKE. NO WONDER PEOPLE THOUGHT TRAILER WAS FAN MADE.

anime screenshot redraw ($30 per character in the shot): i love doing these also. if youve ever had a really good anime screenshot and you wanted an artists more detailed semirealistic rendition of it. even if its just that one of the guy from naruto kicking his leg up and saying "pathetic". especially if its that. i am your man

oc design collab ($10 per day): give me the details on an oc youre having trouble designing, from a description to existing reference material, and ill provide feedback and concept sketches until we settle on something youre happier with. it can be as much as asking me to design them from the ground up or as trivial as "do you think their hairstyle looks dumb"

fma eyecatch ($40): one of the intermission cards where the guy goes Full Metal Alchemist. with your character, matched to the fmab style to the best of my ability, which is preddy good i think

extremely detailed designs (such as final fantasy 14 characters) are a 50% markup! aka, cut the price in half, and then add that amount back onto the original. i cannot afford to be drawing one million belts and swords on a single person for the same price as id charge for bart simpson

if you want me to draw naked people or horny stuff thats another 20 bucks on top of whatever the price is. which, yes, for a full body piece Does make it a bargain for you to just ask me to draw your mmorpg character naked instead.

i dont want to just open up ship commissions point blank because drawing people interacting is so much harder. but if the ship is something i am into as well i MAY be open to it. itd be double as expensive though
