#if you call transhet people boring

I know it's unpopular but being straight can be a very queer thing. Because trans people exist.
A trans person who's also straight is still queer as fuck and not for the "trans" label alone. You can't separate those labels.
Transhet people are queer and actually very progressive and they're not appreciated enough

ok my dndads queer hc post randomly gets notes but i disagree w many of the takes now so im updating it . spoiler warning theres a WHOLE lot of lezzies . just doing the dads kiddads and teens HOWEVER i will say that mark likely is for sure a lezzer
darryl: bisexual and probably the most cisgender one here but he's actually SO cis that it becomes almost gnc . he/him
ron: transhet guy but he thinks his transition is like very unique to him and everyone else is doing it the exact same as each other so he doesnt really get that hes Transgender bc he thinks everyone else is doing it in a really different way than him all together . not in an angsty way hes perfectly okay w that . he/him
henry: trans bi guy we know this to be true . he/him but if you called him they/them prns he would be like well yknow ive never thought about that before but you know what go right ahead (: he doesnt exactly enjoy it but he appreciates just how gosh-darn nonbinary positive you are that he'd still encourage it
glenn: bisexual and like .... hes cis he doesnt really care abt gender much but when nick came out as trans he definitely said something about like . "dude if i was trans? id totally use they/them pronouns thats sick as fuck" and then moved on and this sort of haunted nick for a while . he/him but again he doesnt really care
jodie: cis and bisexual but in such a boring way that he might as well be straight
sparrow: tgirl lesbian who was out at one point but is not now for Normalcy Reasons . she/her in theory
lark: transneu nonbinary and aroace . not out about either of these things but not really as a like Actively Closeted thing they just dont really think abt it . they/he in theory
terry jr: tgirl lesbian also but this time out AND butch . she/he
grant: gay of course . and like .... he is cis and this wont change but he'd be a good deal happier if he was more gnc i think
nick: tguy butch lesbian . he mostly but he doesnt really care that much
link: kinda-stealth tboy (not really intentionally or anything he just doesnt really see it as relevant that often so most people dk) and gay . he/him but he doesnt really care that much
taylor: honestly idk what i think is going on w his gender but i DO know hes aro and bi . give me some time to think on that ok
scary: out nonbinary tfem lesbian!!!!! we know this!!!!!! she/it and when she writes her pronouns down she always writes the it in VERY BIG AGGRESSIVE HANDWRITING to make it clear that its SUBVERSIVE AND WEIRD
normal: bisexual tgirl . currently in a like . Questioning Phase in s2 i feel like ..... her turmoil abt being a Normal Son is tied to that . any pronouns but she primarily
hermie: bigender (girl + boy) gaybian :3 was an open bisexual tguy originally but around the poison ivy era had some Gender Complexity . he/she but certain Method Personas have diff pronoun leans whereas normal herm is pretty 50/50

Shit, I forgot to ask the question.
What are some dos and don’ts of writing transmasc characters?
Hi! This question is definitely less vague than the last one, since "how do i write a bisexual character" is much wider than "specifically, what are the dos and donts of writing transmascs" so that's helpful!
So, usual preface: i am not the spokesperson or ambassador for all transmascs. This is a very general post coming from one transmasc, specifically a nonbinary trans guy, and i 100% endorse and encourage looking at sources that Aren't Me (but stay the fuck away from t/r/u/m/e/d/s).
But, on with it: general dos and donts!
DO: remember "transmasc" and "binary trans guy" are NOT synonymous.
all trans guys are transmasc, but not all transmascs are trans guys. "Transmasc" encompasses any AFAB or AXAB person who's gender is in the general realm of masculine. "demiboy" "genderqueer" "bigender" "trans man" "nonbinary trans man" and "boyflux", for example, are all genders that can qualify as transmasc (though are not inherently transmasc; many can and do include AMAB people). However, "binary trans guy" specifically means someone who was AFAB/AXAB who's gender is 100% male 100% of the time.
There are transmasc lesbians, transmasc people who are both women and men, transmasc binary people, transmasc nonbinary people, transmasc genderfluids, and more.
[afab means "assigned female at birth" btw, and axab means "assigned X at birth". AXAB is for certain intersex people and i am not qualified to delve into it.]
DON'T: portray all transmascs as "uwu cutie soft boys".
putting aside the fact that not all transmascs are boys, this attitude is incredibly infantilizing and uncomfortable. You can certainly have femme transmascs and soft transmascs, but please acknowledge that not all of us are like that. The big push to see transmascs as "soft space beans" or whatever is vile; it pushes us away from masculinity and back into neat feminine boxes. It's only as popular as it is because cis people (especially cis women) are uncomfortable with us being Masculine Manly Guys (or even just androgynous). We are allowed to be masculine, and our masculinity is good and important. Acknowledge this.
DO: show that gender expression =/= identity and every transmasc is different! (this can also go for trans people in general.)
the spectrum of transmasculine gender identities is wide and wonderful. I encourage you to portray this. obviously you can't get all of us in your writing, much less one WIP, but I'd absolutely love for people to show different ways of dress & gender expression for transmascs! The glittery fun way of dress, the boring barbecue camo pants dad, the dramatic emo aesthetic, Just Some Guy... everything. at this point i'm starved for anything. Additionally, transmascs who use pronouns other than or alongside he/him are great, too; as a he/they trans guy, i'd love to see it. (this includes neopronouns btw!) Also, transmascs with a variety of genders and gender types (demiboy, genderqueer, trans guy, etc).
DON'T: try to write about "what it's like to be transmasc" if you aren't.
this goes for literally any marginalization. You can write characters of our identity, and should, but do not write the story of "what it's like to be transmasc". That's not your experience, and you do not know how to do that.
Some general things i'd like to stop seeing:
"this binary trans guy is basically a lesbian" (while there are trans guys who use lesbian/sapphic, that is for personal reasons and most certainly not something a non-trans guy is equipped to write)
Trans people's only orientations being gay or straight??? transgay and transhet rep is important but please acknowledge the rest of us
UNSAFE BINDING. fuck this. you don't have a reason to go out of your way and talk about how the transmasc binds unsafely
"this person uses he/they!" *proceeds to call them by only one of those pronouns for the rest of the entire book*
"this transmasc is masculine and that makes them Worse" stop forever please
some things i'd like to see more of:
transmascs who are marginalized in multiple ways! (disabled transmascs, transmascs of colour, aspec transmascs, ND transmascs, etc)
transmascs who love themselves!! PLEASE I'M BEGGING YOU
transmasc narrators! gimme some transmasc MCs
transmasc love interest that aren't treated like a fetish! yeah, i'm aroace, but i still like seeing transmasc LIs in fiction.
T4T (trans-for-trans) couples involving transmascs!! this includes T4T enbies and T4T m/f relationships
transmascs with plotlines that aren't "i hate myself" (connected to point 2)
transmascs with trans friends!
transmascs in fantasy and sci-fi stories!
transmascs who are accepted by their friends and families!
stories with more than one transmasc in them!
~
I hope this was helpful! Once again, I am one transmasc. I suggest looking around at @yourbookcouldbegayer, finding some other transmasc perspectives, and reading books by transmascs! (fiction and not.)
If any other transmascs want to add on, feel free & please do.
#asks#writblr asks#writing advice#writing characters who are X#transgender#trans#nonbinary#transmasc#transmasculine#enby#trans ftm#ftm#<- please dont describe all ur trans guys as 'female to male' btw. dont call someone FTM (or MTF!) unless theyve said its ok#dauntlessshadowice1#nico yells writing advice into the void

Saw someone do this and I’m bored so eah lgbt hcs
Apple: gay
Raven: bisexual, agender but like, “yeah just call me she I don’t really care”
Maddie: much gender, any pronouns are good with her, but she usually just tells people she/her (not always, sometimes randomly they’ll introduce themself with they or he or a neo pronoun for fun). Gray aroace
Cerise: non-binary, they/she (“just pick one and use it, man, i don’t know”). Aromantic. So aromatic! Aro :D doesn’t really think about sexuality but she does find people attractive. Sometimes she shrugs and says “I don’t know, bisexual I guess”. But they don’t really care, like I said
Daring: man is cis heteroromantic asexual. Thinks sexuality stuff is confusing, still doesn’t know what cishet means, but does know he’s ace (he’s very awkward about it tho)
Darling: lesbian.
Dexter: TRANSGENDER. Was so scared of what it meant to be a prince. What if he opens up the storybook of legends and it tells him his destiny is to be a damsel in distress? His parents kinda made him hush up about it so he’s stealth. Bisexual, also
Cedar: trans girl with many confusing feelings about her gender. Does a puppet even have a gender? It takes a bit for her to come to terms with even the idea that she did have gender. Eventually her dad helps her work it out and she transitions
Briar: straight girl, though she’s dated girls sometimes. Cis but in a purposeful way.
Ramona: butch lesbian.
Kitty Cheshire:
someone: so are you a girl or sumn? What’s your sexuality?
Kitty: *makes the I don’t know sound*
Lizzie hearts: TRANSHET. Was an egg for forever, and before that was very in denile about liking guys (cause she thought she was a guy)
Alistair: trans guy. He wants testerone, but not top surgery. He rocks the binder + open shirt look, but he doesn’t always bind
Bunny: non-binary she/her. Considers herself transmasc. Like, non-binary with left boy. Wants top surgery *eventually*, but not hrt

Gender and sexuality only relate to each other in the sense gender roles reinforce heternormativity. Homosexuality has always defied gender. It's a shame you have such conservative views on gender and sexuality. You can call gay people cis but homosexuality is naturally gender nonconforming. You're just so white and boring.
Hi there! Because you're actually making some points instead of JUST calling me white and boring, I'll respond to you! (which, by the way, what makes you think I'm white? My pfp isn't a picture of me lol and most of the people who call me white as an insult are white themselves) You should really learn to have an argument without being so confrontational. It will do you a lot of good when you grow up!
Anyways, I should probably have explained better. Yes, gender is complex and not easily defined, gender roles are arbitrary, and some cis gay people (which I call them because they ARE cis) are gnc. And there's nothing wrong with that! But gnc cis gays are still cis. A cis man wearing a dress does not feel distress at being AMAB, he does not have to deal with the medical, social, and legal clusterfuck that is transitioning. He can still easily be transphobic. Just look at RuPaul!
My point was simply that straight trans people typically (not always) go through their life for a time identifying as a gay cis person. For example, before I figured out I was a straight trans man, I identified as a cis lesbian.
Because I have this experience, I am better able to understand lesbianism than a cis man (though not as well as an actual lesbian, of course). I have experience both as a lesbian and as a transgender person. I have experience living as a woman and as a man. Cis people do not.
Cisgender gay people generally do not have a period of their lives in which they believe themselves to be transgender, so they have no idea what it's like to be trans, or what it's like to be another gender in general. Because of that, there are absurd amounts of transphobia within the cis LGB community. I'm not sure about your experiences, but I've met FAR more transphobic gays than homophobic trans people.
That's what the post was about. Primarily, it was saying cis gays are largely transphobic, but transhets are not largely homophobic. I understand the confusion, and in my effort to appeal to my target audience on tumblr, I didn't explain my point very well in favor of being a little funny. And of course, none of this is meant to say that I hate cis gays in general, most of them are lovely people. It is also not trying to say that trans people are immune to being homophobic, because they're not! But because many cis gays pull the exact same transphobic shit as cishets, I don't feel the same solidarity with the LGBT community as a whole.
