ATEEZ SMALL PERFUME REVIEW: DIPTYQUE — FLEUR DE PEAU

disclaimer: this is not meant to be a serious perfume review, this is something fun for me to do as I love perfume. each and every one of us have different tastes and preferences when it comes to fragrances. what works for me might not work for you, vice versa. I’ll try my best to describe the scents but I will always suggest for you to go and smell them yourself before purchase. if you want to try these perfumes, please test or get a sample before committing to the bottle. picture credits to all owners.

my scent experience:

this fragrance starts off light, clean, and floral from the iris. the clean scent is not intense but it has a little sharpness to it which made me think there’s some aldehydes in this, but Diptyque never listed it as a key note. as it settles, it’s still remains light and clean, almost smelling like gentle soap. once it dries down, the scent is still clean, but there’s a warmth to it? I’m guessing it’s from the ambrette seeds but there’s something odd about this combination on me and I can’t really pinpoint what part of the scent is throwing me off. I believe it's the warmth lingering in the back that’s got me paranoid but I’m not really into this unfortunately. to me this smells like fresh floral soap and weirdly enough, I immediately thought of popping bubbles in a bubble bath.

the longevity is so crazy, I don’t know if it was on beast mode when I wore this because this lasted over 12 hours on me? I sprayed this around 5pm and I could still smell it on myself when I woke up the next day. it’s pretty rare for fragrances to do that on me as I’m used to 6–8-hour wear but lasting for that long is crazy I had to scrub it off in the shower that morning to remove it. the projection is on the softer side but it’s still noticeable which is nice for a cleaner scent. however, I was feeling dizzy for a moment while wearing this but what’s new here? most clean perfumes do that to me.

additional notes from me:

I really like Diptyque perfumes, and they make really good ones, but this one didn’t work out for me. I’m not the biggest fan of the clean and soapy scents and the feeling’s mutual because they make my head spin in a bad way. if I could get behind the scent in the dry down, maybe I could see myself wearing this, but you know who would love this scent? my mom. she likes cleaner and softer scents so I think I might get her the body lotion for mother’s day (she prefers scented body lotions over perfumes). she says she doesn’t wear perfume, but I remember her owning multiple perfume body creams during my childhood so in some way she wears perfume just not from a bottle.

who would I recommend this to?

anyone who likes the scent of floral soap.

those who want something light, fresh and easy to wear.

anyone who wants to try out Diptyque fragrances.

I really wanted to like this perfume, but I can’t say the feelings were reciprocated and that’s alright! if it’s not meant to be, we’ve got to respect that.
