You ever think about how the "keep Riku safe" memory almost wakes Sora up but then Ansem SOD showing up to imply Sora's failure on doing that in KH1 is what plunges him back into sleep?

#pats the top of sora’s head gently and safely: this sweet boy can fit so much mental illness #i hate to say data roxas is right in recoded but #sora’s heart IS kind of easy to break. BECAUSE he cares so much #like you said it’s a strength and a weakness #i would argue his self-esteem has always been kinda low. but his mental state worsens as the series goes on #it is SO significant that he never says the second half of ven’s iconic phrase ‘my friends are my power! and I’m theirs!’#sora never gives himself that credit #kingdom hearts #he and riku really need to talk. or just communicate these feelings somehow #riku really needs to tell sora why he did what he did #and - well honestly idk if being told it’s not his fault will make sora feel better - but #riku can remind sora that riku broke that promise too. they both broke it. and they’ve both made mistakes. it’s okay #sora’s not alone #if they didn’t forget riku’s gd sacrifice… sora could’ve at least seen how riku sees him. and riku would have some idea of how lowly sora #sees himself. it’s only scraping the top of the iceberg but it’s something at least !#instead it feels like sora’s hurtling towards a total mental breakdown and like that’s gonna have to happen before we get #any serious communication between them … sighs deeply #stubborn repressed boys !!!! when will you learn !!!!
