We Know Her Value
Celebrating Ten Years of Agent Carter
Tumblr media
In January 2015, Peggy Carter did something no other female Marvel characters have done at the time: headlining her own show. She strutted onto our screens, knocked out some bad guys with a stapler, and told us to call her “agent”.
In the years since, Peggy, her friends, and the fandom have gone through a lot. We’ve seen the show get cancelled, and Peggy returning, Jarvis returning, Daniel Sousa returning. We tried to #SaveAgentCarter, we held fic exchanges, we cosplayed and Disneybounded, and we created zines. Despite the show’s premature end, these characters stayed in our hearts, and we made sure no one could forget them.
Agent Carter will turn 10 in January 2025. To mark this milestone, I am super excited to collaborate with @peggynet to launch We Know Her Value: Celebrating Ten Years of Agent Carter. Starting from 6th January 2025, the anniversary of the show’s premiere, we will be hosting ten themed days to celebrate ten years of our favourite show. You can join by picking a theme, making a post on that theme, and post it on the theme day. Tag me (@ssrarchives) or @peggynet, and add the tag #AgentCarterTurns10. Your works can be as simple or as elaborate as you like!
I can’t wait to celebrate this momentous anniversary with all of you! Under ‘Read More’, you will find the themes for the ten different days. Hope to see you all then! And if you have any questions, just drop me a line in the ask box or the DMs.
Day 1: Favourite Character
The show has presented us with a whole host of amazing characters, from Peggy to lab rats and background agents. So…who is your favourite?
Day 2: Favourite Episode
Agent Carter packed a lot into 18 episodes: fights, spy shenanigans, musical numbers, engagements, kisses. Which episode is your favourite?
Day 3: Favourite Ship
We cannot talk about Agent Carter without talking about the ships, especially not when the cast happily fanned our fandom flames. Whether you are headcanoning any two or three to be passionately involved, or you have the one true friendship that does it for you, what is your favourite relationship on the show?
Day 4: Favourite Scene/Arc
From Peggy threatening a fellow diner with a fork, to Daniel flopping his five-episode relationship, Agent Carter packed many interesting scenes and arcs into the overall spy shenanigans. Do any of these scenes or arcs stand out to you?
Day 5: Favourite Cast/Crew Moment
Time to look behind the scenes! Once the episodes were over, the cast and crew kept the party going, from the Stark Jar to on-set pranks to the legendary Dubsmash War. Do you have a favourite cast/crew moment?
Day 6: Into the Multiverse
Even though the show was cancelled in 2016, that was not the last we saw of Peggy and her team. Peggy herself returned over and over again, eventually becoming one of the few mortals privy to the knowledge of Loki and the Sacred Timeline tree. Jarvis returned in Avengers: Endgame, becoming the first Marvel character to debut on TV and move on to a movie appearance. Even Daniel made a return in Agents of SHIELD Season 7. Which of these cameos were your favourite? Who do you want to see in future MCU projects?
Day 7: Containment Breach
There is a life for everyone outside of murder gases and space goop. Since the end of Agent Carter, the cast and crew continue to entertain us with excellent projects. From Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning to Resident Alien to The Merry Gentlemen, we have definitely not seen the last of our favourite agents. Have you watched any of these? Do you have a favourite? Do they inspire any AUs?
Day 8: Favourite Fanfic
What is Agent Carter without its fandom? From SSR Confidential to Agent Carter Zine, from fandom-defining multi-chapter behemoths to short and sweet ficlets, the fic writers have not been resting at all. This is your chance to shout out your favourite fics!
Day 9: Favourite Fanart
Artists we haven’t forgotten you! The Agent Carter fandom is home to many talented artists who have graced our dashboards with everything from sketches to whole comics. Let’s share our appreciation by naming our favourite fanart/artist! (Please do not repost artwork unless you have consent from the artists. Otherwise, please reblog or link to the original artwork. Let’s make sure that the artists get the notes and credits they deserve.)
Day 10: Free Day
There is way more going on in the Agent Carter show and fandom for us to cover in one week, so like the title says, take this day to highlight whatever you want! The show’s costume and makeup? Meta writers? Peggy cosplays and Disneybounds? As long as it is Agent Carter-related, you can post about it!

The moment you step into the SHIELD briefing room, you regret every single life choice that has led you here. Dim lighting, stale coffee stench, Fury standing at the head of the table like some one-eyed god of mischief—not the fun kind. And, of course, the cherry on this particular garbage sundae: Tony Stark, leaning back in his chair, boots kicked up on the table, twirling a pen between his fingers like he has all the time in the world.
You should have known. The universe is nothing if not a fan of sick jokes.
“Well, well, if it isn’t the ghost of Christmas past,” Tony drawls, not even looking up. “To what do I owe the pleasure? Wait, don’t tell me—court-ordered restraining order check-in?”
Your teeth grind so hard your dentist probably feels it in his sleep. “Tony.”
He glances up then, eyes sparking with something that looks a hell of a lot like amusement. “That’s my name. Don’t wear it out. Oh, wait—too late.”
Your fists clench, but before you can contemplate throwing a chair at his annoyingly perfect face, Fury clears his throat.
“Much as I’d love to watch this personal drama unfold like a bad soap opera, we’ve got work to do. So sit down, shut up, and listen.”
You drop into the seat as far from Tony as possible, though it doesn’t feel far enough. He smirks like he knows exactly what you’re thinking. You do your best to ignore it.
“Mission parameters,” Fury continues, tapping a tablet so the screen lights up with a dossier. “There’s a rogue arms dealer selling Stark-tech knockoffs to some very dangerous people. We need two agents who know the tech, the terrain, and, ideally, each other.”
You stiffen. You do know the tech—intimately. The terrain, sure. And Tony? Well.
Tony lets out a low whistle, crossing his arms. “So let me get this straight. You’re throwing me into a high-risk situation with my ex. The same ex who, might I remind you, has attempted to kill me at least twice—”
“Once,” you correct through gritted teeth. “And it was an accident.”
“Oh, of course. Just a little ‘whoopsie’ with a high-powered energy weapon. Happens to the best of us.”
Fury looks between you, unimpressed. “Am I gonna need to call in therapy dogs, or can you two act like professionals?”
Tony exhales, running a hand through his hair. “I don’t know, boss. I’m getting some real ‘knife in my ribs while I sleep’ vibes here.”
You glare at him. “If I wanted you dead, Stark, you’d be dead.”
“Flattering.” He winks. “Almost romantic, in a ‘Fatal Attraction’ kind of way.”
Fury rubs his temples. “I already hate this.”
“Yeah?” You lean back. “Try living it.”
“Alright, enough. You two have history. You don’t like each other. Boo-hoo. But this mission is bigger than whatever unresolved sexual tension—”
“There is no—”
“that is painfully obvious to everyone in this room.”
Tony shoots you a smug grin. You resist the urge to throw something at him.
Fury ignores both of you and taps the screen again, pulling up images of a heavily fortified compound. “The seller, Vasili Markov, operates out of this facility. We need to shut him down, recover the stolen Stark-tech, and leave no trace.”
Tony strokes his chin in mock contemplation. “Hmm. Sounds like a lot of work. And let’s be real, I do my best work solo.”
Fury levels him with a look. “You’re not solo. You’re a team.”
You and Tony exchange glances. Neither of you speaks, but the message is clear.
This is going to be a disaster.
Tony clicks his tongue. “Fine. But if she shoots me, I expect hazard pay.”
You smile sweetly. “Oh, I wouldn’t waste a bullet.”
Fury sighs. “Get out of my sight.”
Tony pushes back his chair with an exaggerated groan. “Great. Road trip with my ex. Just what I always wanted.”
You stand, arms crossed. “Try to keep up, Stark.”
He grins, sharp and easy. “Oh, sweetheart, I was born ahead of the curve.”
You turn on your heel and walk out, knowing full well he’s watching you go.
This mission already sucks, and it hasn’t even started yet.
You adjust your tactical gear in the back of the Quinjet, pretending Tony Stark isn't watching you with that infuriating smirk.
"Y'know, you never used to be this quiet," he muses, leaning back against the wall, his arms crossed in a way that makes him look insufferably relaxed.
You double-check your weapons. "I learned the value of silence. Mostly from realizing you never shut up."
Tony clutches his chest dramatically. "Ouch. And here I thought you'd be happy to see me."
You finally glance up at him. "Happy isn’t the word I’d use."
"Mm, well, something is the word, though," he says, tilting his head. "Because you haven’t looked at me properly since we got on this jet, and I have to say, that stings a little."
You huff, strapping your holster to your thigh. "Maybe I’m just trying to focus."
"Right. Focus. That's exactly what you said that time we got locked in my penthouse during a blackout."
Your hands still for half a second before you force yourself to keep working. "Are you seriously bringing that up now?"
Tony grins. "Well, it’s relevant. We were stuck together, a little bit of danger, a little bit of unresolved tension—remind you of anything?"
You glare at him. "If you think this mission is anything like that night, you're delusional."
"Eh, maybe." He shrugs. "But in my defense, that night ended pretty well for me."
You tighten your holster strap with a little more force than necessary. "And ended badly for me."
Tony sighs dramatically. "Yes, yes, the great escape. You fled my apartment at 4 AM like I was a one-night stand you regretted. Not my proudest moment."
You glare at him. "And yet, you keep bringing it up."
Tony leans forward, resting his elbows on his knees. "That’s because I still don’t get it, sweetheart. One second, everything was fine, and the next, you were gone."
Before you can answer, the Quinjet's systems signal arrival. The autopilot activates stealth mode, and the mission briefing flashes across the display.
Saved by the mission.
You press a hand to your earpiece, switching into full focus mode. "We’re almost there. Keep it professional, Stark."
Tony watches you for a second longer, then nods. But there’s something in his eyes that says this conversation isn’t over.
And you’re not sure if you hate or want that.
It’s a disaster from the moment you enter the facility.
The alarms shouldn’t have gone off yet, but they do. The guards shouldn’t have been this prepared, but they are. Within minutes, the entire compound is in full lockdown.
"Well," Tony says, firing off a repulsor blast, "so much for a quiet mission."
You duck behind cover as bullets shred through the walls. "This was your plan!"
"Hey, statistically, at least 40% of my plans work out!"
"And the other 60%?"
"...are fun learning experiences."
You roll your eyes, taking out two guards in quick succession. But the numbers keep coming, and even with Tony's firepower, you're being backed into a corner.
"We need to get to the control room," you say. "If we can override the security, we can get out of here."
Tony scans the layout with his suit. "Way ahead of you. There’s a passage up ahead—"
Before he can finish, an explosion rocks the building. The floor crumbles beneath you.
You fall.
You hit the ground hard, dust and debris filling the air. Somewhere near you, Tony groans. The room is small, metal walls reinforced with no windows. One heavy door.
You’re trapped.
Again.
Tony’s voice filters through the dust. "You okay?"
You grit your teeth. "Peachy."
His suit whirs as he sits up. "Well, look at that. Trapped together in a tiny armored room. Just like old times."
You push yourself up, ignoring the sharp sting in your side. "This is nothing like old times."
Tony shrugs. "It’s got all the elements—tight space, unresolved sexual tension, the looming threat of death…"
You shoot him a glare and try to focus on the door. "Help me get this open."
Tony sighs, pressing a hand to his suit. "Bad news—systems are glitching from the blast. Can’t scan, can’t blast through yet."
You grit your teeth. "Of course."
"So," Tony says, crossing his arms. "Wanna fight or make out while we wait?"
You groan. "I hate you."
"See, that’s where you keep confusing me," he says, tilting his head. "Because if you really hated me, you wouldn’t look at me like that."
Your jaw clenches. "Like what?"
"Like you miss me."
Your breath catches for half a second before you shut it down. "You're delusional."
"Maybe," he says softly. "But I’m also right."
You shake your head, pressing a hand against the wall to steady yourself. The pain in your side flares up, and you bite back a wince.
Tony doesn't miss it.
His teasing fades instantly. "You're hurt."
"I'm fine."
"Don’t lie to me."
You exhale through your nose, turning away. "It's nothing."
Tony's voice is quieter now, but insistent. "How bad?"
You don’t answer.
That’s all he needs.
He steps closer, and you try to ignore the warmth of him near you. "Let me see."
"Tony—"
"Now."
You sigh, knowing he's not going to let this go. Reluctantly, you pull back your vest just enough for him to see the blood seeping through your undershirt. The wound isn't deep, but it's enough to make moving painful.
Tony’s jaw tightens. "You should've said something."
"It wasn’t the priority."
His eyes flicker to yours. "You are the priority."
Something in your chest tightens.
Neither of you speak for a long moment.
Then Tony exhales, shaking his head. "You always do this."
You frown. "Do what?"
"Shut me out. Pretend you're fine when you’re not." He looks at you, frustration and something softer in his eyes. "Was that why you left?"
You swallow hard. "Tony—"
"Just tell me the truth," he says, quieter now. "Why did you leave?"
You close your eyes for a second. The words sit heavy on your tongue.
Because I was scared. Because you made me feel too much. Because I didn’t know if I could survive losing you.
But you don’t say any of that.
Instead, you whisper, "Because I thought it would be easier."
Tony watches you for a long time. Then, finally, he nods.
"Was it?" His voice is barely above a whisper.
You meet his eyes. "No."
His expression softens. And for the first time in a long time, there's no sarcasm, no teasing. Just Tony. The man you once loved. The man you maybe still do.
"You know you can’t escape me, right?" he says, a small, tired smile on his lips.
You let out a breath of laughter. "Believe me, I’ve tried."
Tony smirks. "And yet, here we are. Again."
You shake your head, leaning back against the wall. "Yeah. Again."
For once, there’s no arguing. No sharp edges. Just the two of you, trapped together, unable to run.
And maybe, for the first time, you don’t want to.
Tony leans against the wall, watching you like he’s seeing something he wasn’t expecting. You hate that he still looks at you like that—like he knows you better than you know yourself. Like you haven’t spent all this time trying to put distance between you.
And yet, here you are. Again.
You exhale, shifting slightly to take pressure off your injury. He notices but doesn’t comment. Instead, he tilts his head and gives you that familiar smirk.
“So,” he says, “since we’ve already checked ‘almost dying together’ off the list, how about something a little more fun? Say, coffee?”
You raise an eyebrow. “Are you seriously asking me out right now?”
“Well, yeah. I mean, how often do you get life-threatening situations to reflect on past mistakes and make better choices?”
You roll your eyes. “A coffee date isn’t a better choice, Tony.”
He grins. “That sounds dangerously close to a ‘yes’.”
You sigh, pressing your fingers against the bridge of your nose. “This is ridiculous.”
“Ridiculously overdue? Agreed.”
You glance at him, and despite yourself, you feel a smile trying to break through. You fight it, but Tony sees it anyway.
“Look,” he says, a little softer now, “just one coffee. No explosions, no fights, no life-or-death stakes. Just us.”
You shake your head but don’t say no.
Tony nods, satisfied. “Good. That’s settled.”
A few more beats pass in silence. Then, you frown. “We do still need to get out of here.”
Tony stretches, rolling his shoulders. “Right, yeah. Almost forgot.”
You watch as he steps toward the control panel on the door. He places his hand against it, and with an easy flick of his wrist, the lock beeps and disengages.
The door slides open.
You stare at it. Then at him. Then back at the door.
Realization hits like a truck.
“You had the override this whole time?”
Tony smirks, stepping into the hallway. “What, you thought I couldn’t open it? Please. It’s me.”
You gape at him. “You—you kept us in there—”
“For a good cause.” He winks. “And, y’know, for my entertainment.”
You let out a sharp, disbelieving laugh. “Unbelievable.”
Tony gestures grandly. “And yet, so believable.”
You shake your head, muttering a curse under your breath as you follow him.
The mission isn’t over yet. There’s still security to deal with, hostiles to take out, and a very pissed-off arms dealer who is not happy that you’re taking back stolen Stark tech. But none of it really surprises you. It’s just another day, another mission, another ridiculous near-death experience.
You and Tony fight like you always have—seamless, despite everything. No matter how much time passes, you still know how to move around each other, still anticipate his next move before he makes it. It’s frustratingly natural, and you don’t know whether to be relieved or annoyed.
When the last threat is neutralized, the Quinjet arrives for extraction. As you step on board, Tony follows, settling into the seat beside you like it’s the most normal thing in the world.
You exhale, letting yourself relax for the first time in hours. The adrenaline fades, and exhaustion starts creeping in. But before you can fully unwind, Tony nudges you with his elbow.
“You’re not gonna hit me, are you?”
You turn your head slowly. He looks entirely too pleased with himself.
Without hesitation, you punch him in the shoulder—hard.
“Ow—”
“You locked me in a room just to get me to agree to coffee.”
Tony rubs his arm, grinning. “And it worked.”
You groan, shaking your head. I hate you.”
“Yeah, yeah. You say that, but I still have a date.”
You roll your eyes, but there’s no real heat behind it. He’s impossible. Infuriating.
And yet, somehow, you’re still not canceling.
The following week, you find yourself standing outside a quiet little café tucked away in a part of the city Tony Stark usually has no business being in. It’s charming, warm lights glowing from inside, a few people sitting at outdoor tables chatting over coffee. The kind of place you would’ve chosen for yourself—not Tony. And yet, when you step inside, he’s already there, sitting at a table near the window, tapping his fingers against a ceramic cup. No suit, no press, no Stark Industries entourage. Just him.
When he sees you, he grins like he’s won something. “You showed.”
You slide into the seat across from him. “I said I would.”
“Yeah, but you hate me, remember?”
You roll your eyes as the waitress approaches. You order your usual, and when she walks away, you notice Tony watching you carefully.
“So,” you say, crossing your arms. “This is weird.”
“Weird? Nah. Unexpected, sure. Suspicious? Maybe. But weird?” He shrugs. “I think it’s a step in the right direction.”
You huff a quiet laugh. “I don’t know what direction that is, but okay.”
Tony leans back, stretching his arms behind his head. “C’mon. It’s just coffee. Two totally normal people, drinking totally normal drinks, having totally normal conversations.”
You tilt your head. “Except one of those people is Tony Stark.”
He smirks. “Details.”
The conversation flows easier than you expect. Tony is Tony—sarcastic, charming, occasionally insufferable—but there’s something different about him too. Something quieter, less performative. When he asks about your latest assignments, he actually listens. When he teases you about your coffee choice, he’s grinning like he’s enjoying himself. And despite yourself, you relax.
An hour passes before you even realize it. When the check comes, Tony reaches for it, but you snatch it first.
“Oh, no,” you say. “You don’t get to lock me in a room, trick me into a date, and then pay for it. That’s too much power in your hands.”
Tony grins. “I like when you say it’s a date.”
You glare at him but hand your card to the waitress anyway. As she walks away, Tony drums his fingers against the table. “So, since this wasn’t that bad…”
You arch an eyebrow. “Oh no.”
“Oh yes,” he says, grinning. “How about another? No life-threatening situations this time, I promise.”
You pretend to consider. “Mm. I do enjoy not almost dying.”
“So, that’s a yes?”
You sigh, shaking your head with a small smile. “Fine. One more.”
One turns into two. Then three. Then you stop counting.
Each time, the excuses you give yourself get weaker. You tell yourself it’s just coffee, just catching up, just something casual between two people who used to know each other too well. But then coffee turns into lunch. Lunch turns into late-night drives when Tony shows up outside your place with two burgers and that damn smile.
“I was in the neighborhood,” he says.
“You don’t live in this neighborhood.”
“Well, I do now. Temporarily.”
You roll your eyes but open the door anyway.
And somewhere between all of it, things start to shift. The teasing never stops, but it gets softer. The conversations turn a little deeper. He stops deflecting every time you ask something real. And you stop pretending that being around him doesn’t feel… right.
It’s not dramatic, not some grand moment where everything clicks into place. It’s gradual, like slipping back into an old habit you forgot you loved.
And then, one night, you’re sitting next to him in his workshop, watching him tinker with something you don’t recognize. It’s quiet, comfortable. He tosses you a wrench without looking up.
“Hold this.”
You catch it. “Why?”
“Because I said so.”
You roll your eyes but don’t argue. The quiet stretches, but it’s the good kind. The kind that doesn’t feel like it needs filling.
Then, without thinking, you say, “Are we dating again?”
Tony pauses mid-turn of his screwdriver. He looks up, blinking at you. “Huh.”
“Huh?” You frown. “That’s all you have to say?”
“Well, I thought we were,” he says, setting his tools down. “Unless you’ve just been using me for my riveting company and excellent taste in burgers.”
You snort. “Excellent taste? You eat the same three things.”
He grins. “And yet, you keep eating them with me.”
You hesitate, then sigh. “Yeah. I guess I do.”
Tony watches you for a second longer, then nudges you lightly with his foot. “So? We making this official or what?”
You shake your head, but there’s no denying the warmth in your chest. “Guess we are.”
Tony smirks, victorious. “Knew it.”
“Shut up.”
“Make me.”
And you do.
One second, you’re bantering; the next, your lips are on his, his hands framing your face like he’s afraid you’ll disappear.
You don’t pull away. You don’t even hesitate. You just kiss him back like it’s the most natural thing in the world. Because maybe it is.
The wrench you were holding clatters onto the workbench, forgotten. Tony pulls you closer, backing you against the edge of the table, and you let him. His hands slip down to your waist, fingers pressing into the fabric of your shirt like he’s relearning something he never meant to forget.
You break away just long enough to mutter, “This is a terrible idea.”
“Yep.” He kisses you again.
Your fingers tangle in his shirt, pulling him closer as the heat between you builds. There’s a hum of energy in the air, electric and inevitable, like a storm rolling in. He lifts you onto the workbench, knocking over a few stray tools, but neither of you cares. His lips find your neck, his breath hot against your skin, and you let your head tilt back, exhaling sharply.
“You taste like engine grease,” he murmurs, grinning against your jaw.
You laugh, breathless. “And whose fault is that?”
He doesn’t answer—just kisses you again, deeper this time, like he’s making up for lost time. Like this was always meant to happen. And maybe it was.
A few days later, you’re standing in a briefing room, arms crossed as you watch Fury pace back and forth in front of the holo-display. It’s the same as always—another mission, another classified objective, another dangerous situation that requires your skill set.
But something is different. And Fury notices.
He stops mid-sentence, narrowing his one good eye at the two of you. You glance at Tony, who is standing next to you, looking too relaxed. Suspiciously relaxed. He smirks at Fury like he knows exactly what’s going through his head.
Fury folds his arms. “Something’s different.”
You feign innocence. “Different how?”
He squints. “You tell me. You two normally bicker like an old married couple, but today…” He gestures between you and Tony. “There’s a thing happening.”
Tony tilts his head. “A thing?”
Fury glares. “A thing. A change. A shift in the atmosphere. And I don’t like it.”
You sigh. “Can we focus on the mission?”
“Oh, I am,” Fury says. “I’m just trying to determine whether or not I need to separate you two like misbehaving teenagers.”
Tony leans in slightly. “Technically, we are misbehaving.”
You elbow him in the ribs.
Fury groans, rubbing his temples. “I don’t have time for whatever this is. Just don’t let whatever this is get in the way of the mission.”
“No distractions,” you assure him.
“No making out in the middle of a gunfight,” he warns.
Tony gasps. “You think so little of me.”
Fury raises a brow.
“…Okay, fair,” Tony concedes.
Fury sighs, already exhausted. “Get out of my sight.”
As you and Tony leave the room, he nudges you. “So… does this mean we’re official-official?”
You roll your eyes but can’t fight the smile. “I guess so.”
Tony grins. “Knew it.”

There is annoying things about Peggy Carter in what if season 2 , that when she figloki in battle of new York she look 'it's easy ' , I meant she is smiling a d there's arrogance around her and when you look how he faced with loki yeah, you know what she said, it's annoying
I know in battle you need focus and all but somehow they made leggy look always smiling or smirk everytime in battle look like she not serious or too much enjoying, I am not saying she can't have fun but it's just annoying special she jeep sayi v she is captain Carter. Ugh
Btw if you are PC fans, I am sorry for my rants
Cool, good opportunity to talk about my complete disillusionment of Peggy Carter as a character. The thing is I liked her show, I liked the first Captain Carter episode but by season 2 of What If...? I found her just completely insufferable.
It's not like the idolization of wasn't always there, it was to some extent, but it used to be way more balanced. In her own show she was temperamental and stubborn and those were flaws. in hindsight Jarvis was such a necessary foil as someone who kind of calls out Peggy and isn't a strawman or just someone to talk about how great she is.
I maintain that Daniel Sousa was a better match for Peggy then Steve. If only because they actually spent time together. But also, because they did challenge each other a bit and had work through issues and became stronger for it.
All what if...? can do is talk about great she is, and it's made worse when all Peggy can do is talk about how great she is. It's like watching Ace Rimmer without the cheeky self awareness. It's the worst part of Tony Stark. Characters are interesting because of their flaws and how the persevere and they took those elements away and replaced it with everyone worshiping her. She can just use all the infinity stones because shut up. I think the exact moment it became dead for me is when they had Melina unironically talk about how amazing Peggy is. They took this interesting tragic character and the complicated relationship she had with Natasha and turned her into a low-rent baroness and try to claim this is all about girl power.
Like a said the problems to some extent were always there. They never address the fact she used Hydra agents to build SHIELD and how the various problems she has to be either a complete idiot or willfully blind to miss. I was at some point hoping that would be addressed. That could have been an interesting story. I mean if I can point something out Rumlow doesn't seem to hydra agent in the Captain Carter timeline and there doesn't appear to be the secret Hydra conspiracy. Which suggests it was more Peggy the Howard responsible for that. Whoops, don't think they thought that through.

Cap-IM Rec Week - Day 7
Today’s list is short--it’s highlighting work you wouldn’t normally give a chance to, and that’s pretty rare for me. I give everything a shot because I’m a greedy whore when it comes to Stevetony. But here are two works that standout and that I thoroughly loved. I’ve really enjoyed @cap-ironman Rec Week--if you’re looking for more recs, check out @stevetonyweekly where I post all the Stevetony content I read each week.
Tiny Spy Assassin Steve by copperbadge
An AU in which Steve Rogers was born into the modern day and never received the Serum, but managed to make it into SHIELD as a handpicked protege of senior field agent Abraham Erskine. Along with Phil Coulson, Clint Barton, Natasha Romanoff, Peggy Carter, and eventually Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes, Steve still tries to make a difference.
Particularly in the life of Tony Stark, who picked up what he thought was an art student in a bar, and ended up dating one of SHIELD's top agents...
I am EXTREMELY picky about pre-serum Steve fics and this one is just--fan-fucking-tastic.
[Podfic] Straight on till Morning by Sineala by M_Samro
Tony Stark resigned his commission in Starfleet five years ago, after a disastrous away mission, and he swore he'd never go back. He just wants to be left alone to build warp engines in peace. But the universe has more in store for him than that, as he discovers when Admiral Fury comes to him with an offer he could never have expected and cannot possibly refuse: first officer and chief engineer aboard the all-new USS Avenger, a starship of Tony's own design. What's more, the Avenger's captain is Steve Rogers, hero of the Earth-Romulan War. Believed dead for over a century, Steve is miraculously alive... and very, very attractive.
But nothing is ever easy for Tony. As he wrestles with his secret desire for his new captain and his not-so-dormant fears, another mission starts to go wrong, and Tony becomes aware that Steve has secrets of his own -- and the truth could change everything.
So this fic--podfic--deserves two spots on the list. First because I almost didn’t read it. Star Trek was the first media I can remember watching as a child (dear god, the nightmares from those fucking ear bugs) and it remains one of the nearest and dearest to my heart, so I’m extremely picky about crossovers--but I trusted Sine and it quickly became one of my favorite Trek fics, in or out of the fandom. I’m ALSO picky about podfic--I get very very little time for podfic and I’m super picky narrators on these kinds of things--audiobooks/podfics/podcasts--so I wasn’t sold on the idea, but I had a house to paint and a friend rec’ed it and omg, best decision ever. As emotional as the reading the fic made me, listening to the podfic was even more so. I love it to an unhealthy degree, honestly.

tooth&claw chapter 1.
Read TEETH first
t&c Masterlist.
Summary: you and Sam Wilson have been following up on intel about old HYDRA bases around North and South America for the last several months, with no sign of Bucky Barnes. Wrapping up your last lead, you and Sam attempt to head back to New York, but are stopped on your way by a few mysterious people. They have more information for you than you bargained for.

You were sitting on Tony’s lab desk, waiting for him to finish maintenance on one of his Iron Man thrusters, so you both could go out to dinner. He said he made reservations at some fancy new restaurant downtown because, of course he did. The black dress you wore was simple, halter tied behind your neck, with an open back, and the tulle skirt flowed just below your knees. Your wedge heels dangled from your toes as you hummed to the music that JARVIS had playing softly in the background.
Just as Tony finished with his last gauntlet, former SHIELD agent Maria Hill, now assistant to one Tony Stark, strolled in. Her heels clicking in a confident stride - you’re sure you’ll never master- towards her boss. Tony raised an eyebrow at her as he set his tools down, safety glasses coming off to be replaced with his normal glasses.
“What's the ‘sitch? Got something new for me?” Tony rolled his chair out from the desk and stood next to your legs, a hand resting on your thigh as he spoke to Maria.
“Just received some intel about a new active HYDRA base, boss,” Maria supplied, she tapped a few things on her StarkPad and a big hologram of what looked like a castle floated in the area around the three of you.
Since the fall of SHIELD, The Avengers have been scoping out old HYDRA bases all across the world. Their main goal was to find Loki's missing scepter - the mind controlling one. Four barren bases down, and 7 months later, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.
Tony lets out a low whistle, squeezing your thigh before he circles the hologram projected in the lab. His eyes are calculating, scanning the image with practiced ease as he peers over the top of his glasses. His hands come up, and he manipulates the image, making it smaller and taking layers away. “What am I looking at, exactly? New vacation home, Hill?” He teases.
“A little too cold for my liking,” she says without missing a beat. Her fingers move quickly, and another few images appear in the air. “Intel says this is actually a HYDRA base hidden in the mountains outside of Novi Grad.”
When you make a face, Tony speaks up, “Sokovia, honey,” and you nod. Geography was never your strong suit. “Show me something, JARVIS.”
Suffice it to say, dinner would have to wait.
***
“Another dead end,” Sam sighs, stuffing his hands in his jeans pockets. He leans back against the railing next to you and adjusts his sunglasses. You scrub a hand down your face, resting your forearms on the railing, and heave a sigh, too.
"This is the fourth city in however many months, Sammy,” your tone is defeated and sad. You can feel him looking at you, but you don’t turn your head. “He's a highly trained ex-assassin. If he doesn’t want to be found, we won’t find any trace of him. Ever.” You chance a glance, and you see his shoulders fall. You know he’s not the biggest fan of Bucky, but he promised Steve he would follow up on the leads they had. No matter where they took you.
And right now, you and Sam were in Cuba, another cold trail of old HYDRA safe houses and small operation locations left to collect dust. Your intel said it was an abandoned barbershop, but nothing stood in front of you but an empty building. The skeletal remains of a barbershop long since packed in.
There aren't many people on this side of town, and even fewer cars. The 1950s-style cars stood out like sore thumbs when you first arrived a few days ago, but now a welcome sight whenever you would pass one by. The red corvette a block away was brighter than the others. A man in a black suit casually leaned against the driver side door, his arms crossed at his chest. You could swear he was looking at you both, but it was hard to tell with the sunglasses clouding his eyes. You shook your head and turned back towards Sam.
The evening sun setting did little to lessen the heat, and you ran the back of your hand across your forehead, “We should get back to the jet. They should be back from Sokovia by now.”
Sam could tell you were itching to get home. He put a hand on your shoulder and squeezed, “c’mon, let’s get a late dinner, and then we can head home in the morning.” You agreed and went to follow Sam down the sidewalk, glancing one more time behind you toward the corvette, only for it to not be there.
At dinner, the conversation is minimal. You and Sam could sit in companionable silence for a while, getting lost in your own heads.
You haven't given up looking for your brother, Leon, but his trail was as cold as Bucky's. Everything ends in a dead-end no matter where you searched.
The streets of Havana were alive and thriving as music flowed from bars up and down the street. It brought a smile to your face as you glanced up and down the road.
“I've noticed him, too,” Sam says abruptly, pulling you from your thoughts. When you look up at him, he's staring down the street, and you follow his gaze. You see the same man from earlier. His hands in his slack pockets and leaning against the cherry red corvette.
“Since when?” You ask without taking your eyes off the stranger.
“When we arrived,” and your head whips around to Sam, eyes wide and brows furrowed. How haven't you noticed? Some guy has been tailing you both for 3 days, and you were completely oblivious.
Sam places a few hundred pesos on the table and gets up, and you follow his lead. As you both make your way down the street opposite of your mystery man, you can't help but glance over your shoulder to check if he's still there. It isn't until you round the corner that you stop, you feel it, then; the eyes on you like you're under a microscope. It makes the hair on your arms and the back of your neck stand on end.
Sam notices you stopped, and before he can question it, a woman steps out from behind a car. Her stance says nonchalance, but you've been around for a long time to not judge a book by its cover. Peggy Carter taught you that.
You step in front of Sam, sticking your arm out to stop him from advancing. The woman rounds her shoulders when you take the step forward, and a rumble fills your chest.
“What do you want?” You shout over to her, her lips curl up into a smirk, and she tilts her head. She steps into the streetlight, and you get a better look at her. She's Asian and maybe in her late 30s, her hands are balled into fists, and you think she seems ready to enjoy fighting you.
Out of the shadows behind the woman, the man from earlier steps into the light, “We just want to talk,” you didn't even know he was there. What is it with this guy? He gives you a reassuring smile, hands still stuffed in his finely pressed suit pants.
Of course. You scoff, “SHIELD died in the ashes along with HYDRA, I don't think we can help you, man.”
“SHIELD?” Sam asks, so only you hear, his hand goes to your shoulder, “Maybe we should hear them out.”
“If you believed that,” he continued, “The Avengers wouldn't be out there clearing out active bases or getting Loki's Scepter from Sokovia.” He brings his hand to his chest and rubs at a spot absent-mindedly. The woman next to him gives him a concerned sideways glance before he nods and returns his hands to his pockets.
“How do you know about all that?” Sam asks, and when he goes to step around you, you grab his wrist to stop him.
“Who do you think Maria Hill was getting her information from?” The man gives a simpering smile, like you should know better.
“We don't have anything to give you. Like I said, we can't help you,” you go to push Sam behind you so you both could leave. A heavy sigh stops you. The woman takes another step closer to you and looks over her shoulder.
“Sir?” She asks, and when he hums in affirmation, the woman lunges to get to you.
“Sam, go!” You push him, and in the next movement, you're blocking a punch to your face with your forearm. You push the woman back by her chest and send her flying back to the man's feet.
His eyebrows raise, “you good, May?”
The woman, May, grunts in frustration and climbs to her feet, offensive stance ready to lunge at you again.
“Get to the jet,” you tell Sam. He goes to protest, but you cut him off, “I'll be fine, i'll meet you at the rendezvous point.” You look over your shoulder at him when he doesn't move, “Sammy go!”
Sam stumbles back to get ready to run, “you better show up, or Stark will have my head,” and he turns on his heel and runs, leaving you with May and the mystery man in the alley.
As soon as Sam is out of sight and earshot, the man in the suit steps towards you. You growl, it fills your chest, and the man puts up both hands in surrender.
“Whatever you have to say, say it from over there,” you tell him, but he takes another few steps to put himself between you and his friend.
He gives you an easy-going smile, eyebrows creased in worry, “it's not that simple, Agent Jones.” You scoff a laugh and pace away from him. “It's about your brother,” he says hesitantly when you don't stop.
You go rigid, skin rippling, and claws threatening to come out, “what did you say?” When he doesn't answer, you turn to face him, eyes shining blue as you growl at him and his companion.
They don't seem at all surprised by your appearance, “Please, come with us. We have a good idea of where he is. It's more complicated than you think it is,” he tries to placate you again. He gives you a reassuring smile, and when you look at his companion, she crosses her arms in front of her chest and raises an unamused eyebrow at you.
You heave a heavy sigh and drop your head, “Fine,” you mumble out, “I'll go with you.”
***
One phone call to Sam, and an hour later, you stood in an empty field with Agents May and Coulson. After the earful you got from Sammy when you told him to head home without you, the two former Agents of SHIELD told you about what they've been doing behind the scenes -give or take a few details.
Sam was adamant about you not going, but he also didn't want you to miss out on an opportunity to find your brother. Even if the chances were low, there was still a chance.
Agent Coulson, or Phil as he introduced himself, had told you him and his team had been chasing down a group called Centipede for the last few years. He had said he thinks it's finally come to an end with the fall of HYDRA and a man named John Garrett. Who apparently was an evil Mastermind who had his fingers in a lot of pies, so to speak.
They led you to an empty lot, seemingly nothing in the vicinity until Phil pulled a small fob out of his pocket and a quinjet shimmered into existence.
“Should I be concerned about a missing jet, Phil?” You asked. He gave you a sidelong glance and a smirk to match. He shrugged and led the way on board. May insisted you go before her before she closed the hatch after you all entered.
It was a short few minute flight to a larger aircraft that shimmered into existence as the quintet approached and landed on top. A hatch opened on the floor leading down into the aircraft below. As your feet touched the soft carpet at the bottom of the stairs, your gaze landed on a multitude of people around the lounge-like area.
“Welcome to the Bus,” Phil informed you, coming to your side and laying a hand on your lower back. “Skye,” he called out, and a young woman - maybe in her 20s - stood up from the couch with a laptop in hand and followed. Phil ushered you away from curious gazes to another room filled with monitors and computers.
Doors slid shut behind you as the three of you occupied the space. The glass walls did little to stop the prying eyes of those on board from sharing glances and hushed words with each other.
Coulson introduced you to Skye, giving her your name and the reason you were here. He praised Skye at being a veritable genius when it came to computers and her hacking abilities, a proud glint in his eye. She ducked her head a little with a small smile.
Her fingers worked fast over her keyboard, only glancing up at you once or twice while you waited.
Who do you think she is?
Obviously, the agent Coulson told us about.
Yeah, but who is she?
Not sure, why don't you go in an’ ask, Trip?
Oh, don't tease him, Fitz. She's obviously here for the information Skye was asked to gather.
But, do you think she's really an agent?
You smirked, “you told them I was an agent?” Gesturing out at the group of people huddled in low conversation.
And when Coulson looked over at the group, they dispersed with hurried chatter. Phil smirked.
“Aren't you?” The girl, Skye asked as she arched an eyebrow at you, then looked to Coulson. He smiled in return. “Isn't she?”
“I haven't been part of SHIELD for a very long time,” you leaned a hip against the desk and crossed your arms over your chest. You took a whiff around the small space, not coming up with anything. Your brows furrowed as you looked between Phil and Skye.
You thought you were imagining it, Phil not smelling like anything. Thinking maybe the wind carried it away. But now, with him standing so close, you were positive there wasn't anything there. You stepped closer to him, picking up his hand and scenting the inside of his wrist. There was something faint, like a long forgotten book or newspaper, leather bound and dusty, ink fading with time, and the hint of vanilla. Soft and subtle. And you wouldn't have smelled it if you didn't lean into his wrist more.
“Uh,” he eyed you, a frown pulling at his lips when you let him go. “What was that for?”
“I can barely smell you,” you stared at him, head tilting to the side, “either of you. What happened?” concern filling your voice as you stared at him.
He cleared his throat, hand smoothing down the tie around his neck, “I died; is what happened,” Your eyes must have been the size of saucers because he gave you a sympathetic smile. “I'm fine, really.”
“And you? Did you die, too?” You asked Skye. She avoided your gaze and made a noncommittal noise. “Must be something in the water..” You tried to lighten the mood a little.
Skye finished her tapping and turned towards the big monitor in the room, “This is what I've found so far,” she cleared her throat a little, looking back at you as you scanned the screen.
There was an older man, relatively handsome, his shoulder leaning against the side of a building. His hands stuffed in his slacks, the trench coat he wore billowing in the wind, frozen in time. The picture was taken from a cell phone, most likely accidently catching the image of the mystery man. His eyes seemed to glow as the shadows cast the upper portion of his body in darkness.
His hair was dirty blond, gray at the temples, and slicked back in a nice coif. His beard was littered with gray hair, but it didn't take away from his attractiveness.
Another image popped up next. The mystery man had his back to the camera now, glancing back over his shoulder as his eyes glowed more. Next to him now was none other than Leon, eyes shining in adoration as he leaned into the touch of the man with his hand on his face.
You felt your hackles raise, a low growl escaping your lips when another photo appeared. Another photo popped up next to that one. They kissed, which isn't new for you, but the very visible bite mark on Leons neck was enough for you to snap.
“His name is Deacon Frost,” Skye began, “current residence is some plantation his family owned - in Louisiana. It goes back at least 100 years. According to the records I found, he has a whole load of people living there. Whether it's staff or otherwi-”
“Vampires,” you cut her off. Another growl sounds deep in your chest.
Skye looked back at you, eyes wide, “No way. Seriously, vampires? They don't exist,” she scoffed. When she looked at Coulson, he was already looking at you.
“You knew,” you told him.
He pursed his lips, “I had my suspensions. Theories,” and when you raised your eyebrow at him, he sighed. “OK, ok. I wasn't one hundred percent sure until you confirmed it.”
“Wait, you're serious?”
“I'm always serious.”
“Coulson!”
You pursed your lips, “I normally don't do this to new people but,” the skin on your arm rippled from your shoulder to your fingertips, claws coming out as the fur made its way down your arm like a wave.
You wiggled your fingers, knuckles cracking with a roll of your wrist. It was always harder to Shift during a new moon. It definitely hurt more.
You looked from Coulson to Skye. The former's expression filled with delight and a small smile. But Skye.
“What the hell? What the hell are you?” She all but shrieked and stepped away to the far corner as fast as she could.
“Welcome to the world of the Supernatural,” you shrugged, shaking Your arm out as the fur along it reseeded and flesh took over once more. “There's more than just vampires out there.”
***
With Coulson's instructions, Skye put everything she had onto a flash drive for you. You'd figure out more when you got home, and JARVIS could give it another once over. When she was finished, she slid it across the table top, not wanting to step closer to you. You sighed and pocketed the USB stick, gave a curt nod in thanks.
“Thanks for this,” you said, “but you could have called. You do know where I live,” you smirked at Coulson.
Coulson guided you out of the room, leading you through the lounge and up a spiral staircase, and into another room. It was a spacious office, Coulson's name plate gleamed on the desk.
He sat on the edge of the desk and folded his arms over his chest, “it's hard to come calling when the majority of your housemates think I'm still dead.”
You gaped at him, mouth opening and closing several times. “What do you mean they think you're dead?”
“Fury thought it best to never tell anyone,” he shrugged. “That included all of SHIELD and the Avengers.”
“What about the people that cared about you?”
Phil shrugged again, “Anyone that used to be in my life, outside of SHIELD or otherwise, knows I died. And will always know it.”
He gave you a leveling stare. It made your hair stand on end.
“You can't expect me to keep this from Tony,” you shook your head. “If you know what I am, and I think you do, you know what he means to me. I can't - you can't ask me to keep this from him.”
“You're right, I can't. Just don't go out of your way to bring me up,” Phil gives you a sad smile and paces toward you to put a hand on your shoulder. “For what it's worth, I'm sorry about your brother. I know you'll find him,” he gave your shoulder a squeeze.
You returned his sad smile and gave a shirt nod. After a moment, you cleared your throat, “ok, well, how am I supposed to get home? Don't suppose you're going to drop me off at the front door.”
Coulson laughed, and nodded his head towards the door, “C'mon.”
“Sir, we're ready,” May's voice came through the intercom as you went to leave the office. Coulson led you back down to the lounge and then another spiral staircase to the loading bay.
You pass between a van and the same red corvette from earlier in the day, running a finger down the body and coming to a stop next to Coulson. He hits a button, and the bay doors open, wind whips through the garage violently, and when the door fully opens, you see a quinjet hover a few dozen feet away.
Sam stands at the opening of the quinjets ramp, his hand gripping a handle so he doesn't fly out. He gives a nod, and Coulson returns it.
“It was nice to meet you, Phil, but I think my rides here,” you shout over the roaring wind. You go to take a step back to get a running start, but he calls your name, and you stop.
“You'll find him, I know you will,” he gives you a smile, and you place your hand on his arm and give a gentle squeeze.
“Thank you,” when you look back, you can see his team standing behind some glass and on top of the mezzanine, and you look to Phil again, “it was nice to meet you.”
You take a few steps back to get a running start, you sprint, leaping from the edge of the Bus. weightlessness filling you as the harsh winds carry your body from one place to another. And just when you think you start to free fall, your hand grips Sam's arm, and he catches you in his grip, bringing you in for a one-armed hug.
“You're crazy, you know that?” He huffs a big laugh into your hair as you hug him back.
Your forehead rests on his chest, “I'm just keeping you on your toes, Fly Guy,” you chuckle. He gives you another squeeze, and when you both look back out into the sky, the Bus shimmers from existence and disappears.
“C'mon, Baby Girl, let's go home.”
***
"’Boom! Are you looking…’ why do I even talk to you guys?” Rhodey is met with silence, and he sighs, “Everywhere else that story kills.”
“That's the whole story?” Point Break smirks over his beer.
Poor Rhodey, he tries. “Yeah, it's a War Machine story.”
“Well, it's very good then,” Thor laughs, “It's impressive.”
“Quality save. So, no Pepper? She's not coming?”
Pepper? Why on earth would he bring her up? Rhodey has met you multiple times. He seemed to love you. At least that's the impression Tony got. He hasn't talked to Pepper in a while. He knows you two talk all the time.
It's not weird. Don't make it weird.
“No,” simple. Smooth Tony.
“Hey, what about Jane? Poppy? Where are the ladies, gentlemen?” Maria cuts in. Now Tony knows for a fact you and Hill get along.
“Well, Miss Potts has a company to run,” smoothing his tie down a bit, “And Poppy is chasing ghosts in…um..” Where did you and Wilson go off to this time?
Thor shifts from foot to foot, “Yes, I'm not even sure what country Jane's in, either. Her work on the Convergence has made her the world's foremost astronomer.”
Tony hums.
“There's even talk of Jane getting a... um, uh... Nobel prize.”
“Yeah, they...they must be busy because they'd hate missing you guys get together.” She fakes a sneeze, what is this, the early 2000s? “Oh, excuse me.”
“Want a lozenge?” Rhodey fake comforts her as she nods. They both share a quiet chuckle, “Let's go.”
“But Jane's better,” Thor says into his mug.
Tony's eye twitches, Thor hasn't even met you yet. What does he know?
Nothing.
He looks around the party, avoiding eye contact to not further this conversation with Thor at all costs. He notices Sam Wilson ascending the stairs and meeting up with Steve.
Where the hell were you? Fashionably late was his thing. Surely you were around here somewhere.
***
“You go on up, Sammy. I need to change out of this, and I'll see you up there,” you wave him off as you step off the elevator to your and Tony's floor. Sam waved a ‘see you later’ as the doors closed.
He was smart and packed extra clothes, just in case.
You needed a moment for yourself anyway. The last few days are taking a toll on you mentally. Not finding any sign of Bucky after months of searching, and now new information about your brother, Leon, have surfaced. You just needed a quiet few minutes to yourself.
You dug the flash drive from your pocket as you passed the Smart Table in the room.
“Hey, JARVIS, I've got something I'd like you to take a look at when you have the time,” you said as you plugged it into the top USB port. The holographic keyboard and display came to life as you did. “It's got info about my brother on it. I can check back in later with you about it, ok?”
You retreated to the bedroom as you talked to JARVIS, shedding your boots and tactical outfit as you went.
The shower was heavenly. Rinsing the day off yourself always felt nice. But you had a party to attend, at least that's what the message from Tony had said a few days ago when they got back from Sokovia.
On the bed were two outfits, one you're sure Nat had picked for you, and the other Tony. Smirking, you put on your go-to.
A pair of dark, high waisted slacks and an oversized burgundy turtleneck. Your combat boots would have to do. No way were you wearing heels just to go upstairs and see your friends.
Once ready, you made your way back towards the elevators. Checking one last time at the progress JARVIS was making. You noticed a bunch of files open, more information being downloaded than before.
“Thanks, J! I'll go through all that with you later,” you call out as you enter the lift. You hit the button for the right floor and wait. The soft chime of the lift stopping, has you straightening.
The music wasn't as loud as you'd thought it would. Only a few people noticed you stepping off the elevator. No one you knew, however.
As you scanned the large lounge, you noticed Sam and Steve on the loft. They lifted their hands in greeting, and you gave a small wave.
“There she is!” Called a voice to your right, Maria and Rhodes met you halfway, and you gave them a hug.
“Maria, James. Good to see you,” you looked around a little, trying to find the man you came home to see.
“He's at the bar,” Maria nudged your arm. You gave her a grateful smile and excused yourself.
Tony wasn't paying attention when you found yourself standing behind him, his hands fidgeting with the glass in front of him.
“This seat taken, handsome?”
He straightened, glancing over his shoulder slightly, “Actually, I was just waiting for my girlfriend,” he turned fully to face you, eyes lighting up as he looked at you. “She's very possessive, y’know. Gets pretty bite-y when she doesn't get her way.”
You hummed as you stepped closer to him, fingers lightly running up his tie, “Think I can handle myself,” you step closer and one of Tony's hands finds your waist, pulling you in more. You pout up at him, peaking through your lashes, “And I don't get bite-y when I don't get my way.”
He chuckles, and you feel it vibrate through you, his free hand coming up to your face, and his thumb rubs across your cheek.
“I missed you, Pretty Girl,” Tony's hand cups your face and you lean into the touch. He leans in and runs his nose along yours, and a sigh leaves your chest.
“Missed you too, Tones.”
“Ahem,” a voice loudly calls from behind the bar. “OK, love birds, you're making everyone else jealous.”
Natasha smirks at you when you look over Tony's shoulder at her. He pulls you into his side as he turns to face her and reaches into his suit jacket pocket, placing a one hundred dollar bill on the countertop.
Nat's perfectly manicured fingers land on the bill, and she slides it over and places it inside of her blouse.
“Bet him you'd wear my outfit tonight,” She's still smirking. “I'll make you a drink.”
Tony, you and Natasha talked for a while, losing time while catching up and sharing drinks. They told you about what went down in Sokovia, from the advanced HYDRA weapons to Strucker's experimenting on humans with Loki's Scepter. Down in Strucker's lab, there was advanced robotics work, scraps, and heaps of salvaged material from the Battle of New York.
And a few more small details as well.
“Wait, wait,” you gasped between laughs, hand clutching Tony's arm to keep yourself upright. “He really said that? Language! Like you're 5?” You giggled again when Nat and Tony both nodded.
Tony pursed his lips, trying to hide the smile that spread across his face, hand resting on the back of your chair.
Bruce came over shortly after, his eyes only seeing Natasha, so you and Tony excused yourselves and made the rounds.
You met a few new people, including Dr. Helen Cho, who was in town for a conference, from South Korea.
***
Hours later, you were sitting in the loveseat between Tony and Rhodey. A casual and easy conversation flowed as everyone wound down from the evening's festivities.
You placed your finished Chinese food container on the coffee table in front of you. A sigh of contentment left you as you settled back in the seat.
“But, it's a trick!” Clint yells out, pulling you and Rhodey from conversation.
Thor chuckles from his spot next to Steve on the couch, “Oh, no. It's much more than that.”
“Uh, ‘Whosoever be he worthy shall haveth the power!’ Whatever, man! It's a trick,” Clint snarks.
“Well please, be my guest.”
Tony places his arm behind you on the chair, “Come on.”
Clint raises his eyebrows, “Really?”
“Yeah!”
“Oh this is gonna be beautiful,” Rhodey says from beside you.
“Clint, you've had a tough week, we won't hold it against you if you can't get it up,” Tony's comment makes everyone around chuckle.
Clint struggles for a moment as he tries to lift Thor's hammer, “I still don't know how you do it.”
“Smell the silent judgment?”
“Please, Stark, by all means,” Clint places his hands on his hips as he challenges Tony.
You roll your eyes as Tony makes a show of getting up and peeling off his suit jacket. You willingly take it and drape it over your shoulders, letting his scent fill your nose.
Tony tries and fails to lift Mjolnir. Even with the help of Rhodes and their gauntlets.
Next was Bruce, and he fails, pretending to Hulk out in the process. You give him a sympathetic smile at his attempt.
Steve was next, and you swore you thought it budged, but he relents and sits back down next to Thor.
Thor sighs in relief, and he looks to you, and all eyes land on you after.
“No way, I have enough things to worry about, thank you,” your hands come up in defense.
“Widow?” Bruce asks, and she leans back, taking a sip of her beer.
“Oh, no, no. That's not a question I need answered.”
Tony picks you up bridal style and places you on his lap as he takes your seat, “All deference to the man who wouldn't be king, but it's rigged.”
Clint nods, “You bet your ass.”
“Steve, he said a bad language word,” Maria mocks and points to Clint. Everyone chuckles.
Steve gives Tony an exasperated glare, “Did you tell everyone about that?” You giggle from your spot on Tony's lap, and Steve shakes his head.
Thor gets up and easily flips the hammer around in his grip, grinning as he scans around the group, “You're all not worthy.”
There's a chorus of boos and disagreement as Thor just chuckles at everyone.
Then there's a loud screeching noise, like microphone feedback, but ten times worse, and everyone covers their ears. You let out a whine as it stops, and Tony runs his hands up and down your arms.
As the screeching fades, there's a thumping coming from the hall, a metallic voice fills the air, and Steve stands on high alert.
“Worthy... No, how could you be worthy?” it's a beat-up Legion suit. An arm is missing and leaking fluid. There's parts missing from its body, and the face is scratched and marred. “You're all killers.”
“Stark,” Steve says in his Captain voice, his stance wide.
Tony sets you down on your feet, placing himself in front of you as he pulls out his phone, “JARVIS.”
The metallic voice of the Legionnaire continues, “I'm sorry, I was asleep. Or... I was a-dream?”
Tony starts tapping at his phone, “Reboot, Legionnaire OS, we got a buggy suit.”
“There was a terrible noise…” the Legionnaire says, “and I was tangled in... in... strings. I had to kill the other guy. He was a good guy.”
Steve takes a step closer, “You killed someone?”
“Wouldn't have been my first call. But, down in the real world, we're faced with ugly choices.”
“Who sent you?” Thor's voice booms.
A recording of Tonys voice plays from the suit, "I see a suit of armor around the world."
Bruce looks at Tony, shock on his face, “Ultron!”
“In the flesh,” the suit - Ultron - says, "Or, no, not yet. Not this... chrysalis. But I'm ready. I'm on a mission.
“What mission?” Nat asks.
“Peace in our time.”

A Venomous Ending
A knife sailed past your ear, aimed directly at Shigaraki’s chest. All for One deflected the projectile with ease, and you caught the blade with your mind.
“Traitor,” All for One hissed out.
“I won’t let you harm Sweet Anna,” Kobura snapped back. “Shigaraki is the one I work for, not you. He doesn’t deserve to be dragged around like a puppet.”
“Tomura should have known the cost of obtaining such power. I am just allowing him to rest. You would be wise to stand aside,” All for One said.
You gave Doku back the knife. You saw the feral instincts set in his expression. Venom dripped from his bruised lips. Although his quirk had recently evolved, you weren’t sure if he was in any condition to fight All for One.
“Is that why Shigaraki’s fighting you like that?” Doku asked. “To rest?”
All for One’s posture changed. He leaned forward defensively, his hand rising. “You have no imagination, Doku Kobura. Tomura is in a weakened state. He needs me to survive. If you truly cared about Tomura, you wouldn’t waste your time trying to distract me from the girl. I am the only one my successor can truly trust.”
How did Doku see that Shigaraki was internally fighting All for One? He couldn’t read minds as far as you knew. Perhaps he could sense it, smell it on the man. Doku had said his last questions with such certainty that he had to have known.
Doku continued to adjust where he stood, ensuring that he was directly in between you and All for One. Doku wanted you out of harm’s way. He needed you to be safe. He motioned with his hand behind his back for you to run.
You glanced between Doku and All for One. If you didn’t make a choice soon, the Nomus would be upon both of you. If you left Doku, All for One might actually kill him. You hesitated, fists clenching at your sides. No, you wouldn’t leave him. You took a few steps forward in determination, but Doku had already put his hand out to stop you.
“Please. I can’t live without you. Please run,” Doku said. “I love you.” His body trembled. His knuckles went white from clenching the knife so hard in his hands.
“I can’t—” You gasped, turning your gaze down to your chest. Red and black energy had punctured through you. All for One managed to slip his quirk behind you.
“You’ve revealed your weakness, Doku Kobura. Though I must admit it had been obvious,” All for One said.
Doku’s electric-green eyes widened. The quirk energy was pulled from your chest, blood spurting out. Doku gripped your body as you fell. Rage clouded his vision. His eyes went dead as his trembling stopped. He set you down and in the next instant he was on top of All for One. The knife in his hands plunged into his chest. Doku was blasted off of Shigaraki’s body. Kobura’s hand clutched the knife as he was forced away. He skidded beside you, breathing animalistically, like a thousand snakes hissing at once.
The Nomus came careening up Gigantomachia’s back. You shot out strands of your mind, creating a barrier between them and Shigaraki. You coughed up blood as the Nomus hit the mind shield. You played Shigaraki’s voice in your mind, over and over. The nightmares created his vocal tone vividly.
Stop! Do not interfere! Freeze! you shouted into the Nomus’ minds with your memory of Shigaraki’s rasping voice. Like a zombified army, they stopped moving.
You fell back, clutching your hand to your chest. Blood dripped through your fingers. You unsteadily stood to your feet, using your mind to give you some support. You wrapped a strand around your torso to hold the wound closed as best you could.
All for One looked toward the Nomus, losing focus. Kobura took his chance to strike. He slit Shigaraki’s throat, nearly a fatal wound. Once All for One drove Doku back again, his neck healed, but not fully. All for One went to speak and found the words stuck in his throat. Kobura must have severed vocal cords, where he had expertly plunged his knife. He knew what you’d been able to do. He was ensuring that Shigaraki would be trapped here, unless he himself escaped without outside help.
All for One lifted Shigaraki’s hand again. A multitude of energy spiked tendrils took form, reaching out for Doku. Kobura easily avoided the stabs. His speed was unmatched, and it appeared he’d grown even faster with the new development from his quirk. He sliced through All for One’s arm. Doku was repelled once again by yellow energy.
Kobura skidded to a stop beside you. “Your first mistake was attacking Sweet Anna. Your second mistake will be your last. You let me live. The Pro Heroes have been going easy on you, All for One.” Doku grinned, eyes flashing menacingly. “A villain doesn’t have the same obligations as a hero. I will kill you.”
The black tendrils escaped Shigaraki’s spine, holding him afloat. All for One backed away to escape. Without the Nomus to control by his voice, he would need to escape on his own. All for One was well-aware that time was running out for a clean retreat. The heroes had been incapacitated for the most part, but more Pro Heroes would arrive. He would be outnumbered, outpowered, and too weak to escape.
You grabbed All for One with strands of your quirk, and his eyes were back on you. Tendrils of dark energy shot for you again. Doku reached you faster, grabbing you and leaping from the side of Gigantomachia. The two of you landed, and he sprinted for the buildings with you in his arms. You held fast on Shigaraki with your mind quirk, keeping him from his escape. He managed to jump down toward the crumbling street level even with you holding him.
You shrieked as All for One grabbed one of your mind strands with Shigaraki’s bare hand. It disintegrated in his touch. You clutched your head. Doku put you down, rushing for All for One again, knife clipping into his thigh. Doku easily dodged tendril attacks. Any hands going toward Doku were evaded too. Another slice was made in Shigaraki’s shoulder. All for One sent Kobura reeling this time. The energy blast sent him careening into the bottom of a building, through the glass and several rooms.
All for One bent down. His hand pressed into the ground, and the decay rippled for the building.
“No!” you shouted. You lifted a piece of debris beside you, whipping it at full force toward All for One. In his weakened state, it actually hit him.
As the decay tore through the remaining structure, Doku was already up and moving toward you again. You managed to get to your knees, clutching your wounded chest, but you could barely move other than that. Kobura took you up in his arms. Your cape tore free from your back, being snagged on a piece of metal bar. The building collapsed, pieces falling around you. Even with Kobura’s speed, it was clear that you’d both be crushed before he could manage to outrun the falling debris. You pushed through the searing pain in your mind, giving the two of you one extra burst of mind blast energy to send you flying forward. Kobura clutched you to his chest as you both sprawled out onto the ground. The skyscraper had finally fallen. Dust and rubble rumbled over the two of you, creating a cloud of cover and making it hard to breathe.
You passed out, just as Doku lifted you up in his arms again.
You jolted awake. Pain immediately burned in your chest. Your breathing was labored as you took in the unfamiliar surroundings.
“Easy, Sweet Anna. You’re safe,” Doku said.
You were in a room, a regular seemingly underground room with the same modern aesthetic as Doku’s apartment room that you’d been in ages ago. Monitors beeped beside you, connected together with an assortment of wires as if they’d been built from scrap.
“Where am I?” you asked. A migraine throbbed in your temple, and your fingers moved to massage your head.
“My newest hideout,” he said. He bowed his head in front of you, his white hair falling in front of his face. “I’m so glad you’re conscious. It’s been months.” Tears dripped down his face, difficult to see from his posture.
“Months?” you croaked out. “I’ve been here for months?”
He nodded, hesitating to grip your hand in his. “I was so scared. I… I wanted to bring you to the hospital, but there was a manhunt out for me. I wouldn’t have even made it close enough to ensure they’d take care of you appropriately. I… I just hoped that my medical knowledge had been enough to help you. Once I got you stabilized, I didn’t think a doctor would be able to help. It might have been selfish… It was… but…” He covered his face. “I couldn’t lose you. I couldn’t bear to lose you again, and your mind actually allowed me close enough to examine you… I read the other hospital reports, and it had never allowed that before. I thought my help was your best chance for survival in your condition. I was so unsure, and…” He was rambling, trembling and rambling uncontrollably. “I’m so sorry. I just couldn’t let you go.”
Your hand found his, and he froze. “I’m okay, Doku. I survived.” You gulped, tentatively touching the wound at your chest. It was sore, but it clearly had healed. Months? You’d been out for months? “N-no one came looking for me?” you asked, voice wavering.
Doku’s hand tensed around yours. “Your cape was found beneath the rubble of that building. They thought All for One used Shigaraki’s power and had disintegrated you.” Doku looked down guiltily. “Even if that weren’t the case, there was footage of you being stabbed. They assumed you would have bled out and died if the decay had not been the cause of your demise. It was all over the news. Because they found nothing of mine, they thought I was still at large.”
“They think that I’m dead?” you asked.
“Yes,” Doku said solemnly. “I couldn’t tell them otherwise. I would have been arrested or killed on sight. I couldn’t leave you.” Doku wiped his face with his free hand, trying to hide the new tears pouring free. “Your classmates held a funeral for you. They swore that they would capture me for your sake. It was broadcasted on the news too.” He took in a feeble breath. “I know it’s a lot to take in. I will answer anything you need me to. I… I’m just so happy you’re awake and alive.”
“I’m dead…” you trailed off in disbelief. “They just believed that I died and didn’t look for me.” You gulped. You had stood beside Kobura in that fight against All for One, Shigaraki. You stood beside a villain. Even if you went back, would they want you back? You fought against All for One, sure, but there was no explaining working in tandem with Doku. You did it willingly. You chose to trust him. There was no going back to your old world like this.
Your gaze shifted back up to Doku. “You saved me,” you said less like a question and more like realization.
“Of course I did,” he choked out. “I would have given my life for you.” He pressed his forehead to the back of your hand. “I-I can take you back. Once you’re up on your feet, I can bring you back to them. If that’s what you want, I’ll bring you back. I love you so much. I would do anything for you. I promised that if you woke up that I would do anything you asked of me. All I cared about was seeing your eyes open again. I’ll carry you to that damned school today if you so wish it.”
“No,” you said.
“No?” Doku raised his head, surprise washing through his expression.
Tears filled your eyes. You’d been fighting him with every confession. You’d been trying to ignore your feelings because it conflicted with your dreams. You hadn’t realized how much you cared about him, until you were willing to fight alongside him. “I love you too, Doku. I don’t want to go back to that school, to ignoring my feelings for you.”
Doku blinked. “Are you sure? You don’t have to decide now. I don’t want you to feel like you have to say that. You know that I wouldn’t do anything to intentionally hurt you. It’s whatever you want. I promise, Anna.”
“I love you,” you repeated. “This is what I want. You are what I want.”
A smile slowly formed on Doku’s face. He pressed his forehead to yours, nuzzling your nose with his. “I love you so much. You make me so happy. I can’t believe… I just love you.”
…Three Years Later…
The night air nipped at your nose. Up on this rooftop, under the night sky, this was freedom.
“Your chicken will get cold,” Doku said, pouting.
“It’s been cold, Doku.” You chuckled. “You ran all the way in town to get it up here.”
“No one else would have been able to deliver it faster,” Doku retorted, shoving some food into his own mouth. “If it’s cold, it was cold when I picked it up.” He eyed you suspiciously. “I’m not giving you mine again, Anna. You should have ordered it if you like it so much.”
“But, I wanted their specialty chicken, not the lemon steak. Just give me a taste,” you pleaded.
Doku rolled his eyes. He held out a piece of his steak toward your mouth. You took it, chewing happily as you kicked your legs. Your gaze shifted toward the street. Everyone looked like ants from how high up the two of you were sitting.
“I’m getting you both next time, and you better not complain it’s too much food.”
“Or, what?” you teased.
Doku scrunched his nose at your question. “Or, I’m cutting the Wi-Fi in the house. No more video games.”
“You wouldn’t,” you gasped out.
“It’s better than watching my girlfriend starve herself because she won’t eat her own food,” Kobura said.
You stuck your tongue out at him, stealing another piece of steak from his takeout container and popping it in your mouth. Despite his empty threats, he nudged the container of his food toward you. He leaned back on his hands, looking up at the sky.
“I’m just kidding, Anna. I’d order you every dish if that’s what you wanted,” he said. “I’m smitten. You’ve got me wrapped around your finger.”
“That sounds like a villainous thing to do to someone else. Perhaps, you’ve had an effect on me,” you said playfully.
Doku snorted out a laugh. “I gave up being a villain the day you moved in. You can’t use me as an excuse for your dastardly deeds anymore, Sweet Anna.”
“You’re right,” you said. “The past is behind us. We’re in a better place now.”
You leaned into him, glad to snuggle up against him to keep out of the night’s wind. He wrapped an arm around you, pulling you closer. He nuzzled his head against yours, sighing contently.
“I’ll always love you, Sweet Anna,” he murmured.
“And, I’ll always love you, Doku,” you replied.

Funnier Than That
~7100 words of (ruthless) ler!Loki fluff
CW: some mild suggestive humour, otherwise completely SFW
minors dni: this work does not contain smut, but does contain a suggestive storyline between the reader and an adult-aged character. I am not comfortable with engagement from anyone under the age of 18. Thank you for your understanding and respect.
I got this prompt from a wonderful reader who would prefer to stay anonymous:
“… something with a more stoic reader who doesn't really laugh. Loki keeps throwing snarky, sarcastic remarks at the other Avengers or pulling little pranks in front of her (Loki being Loki) and she has to try so hard not to laugh - she has to leave the room sometimes. Loki notices and makes it his mission to make her laugh and finds out she's really ticklish.“
Decided to throw in Mr Hiddleston’s favourite fan theory for good measure ;)
Tumblr media
When it came to missions that required subtlety and a more finessed presence, the Avengers, for the longest time, were somewhat incapable. The occasional SHIELD mask that could transform the wearer into any person was useful, but a metal arm or a strong Captain America build was usually a dead giveaway that the good guys were here to save the day. And, let’s be honest, subtlety was not really in Tony Stark’s vocabulary.
The Avengers were much more suited to smashing through buildings than they were to being disguised as a cleaner accidentally interrupting a meeting, or chatting up a Soccer Dad who secretly worked for HYDRA. A Soccer Dad amazed that the hot young nanny was flirting with him. But you'd never actually do such a thing, not with a married man. Especially not with a married man who wore pants that zipped off at the knee to become shorts.
They called you one of them, but you were to stay firmly out of the Spotlight. You felt l like one of them, with the added bonus of getting to stay hidden, private, how you liked it. No autographs, no magazine covers, no publicity. It was your job to be the unrecognisable Avenger. Not even the Intelligence officials who came through the Compound knew there was a secret Avenger to attempt to catch a glimpse of. If they happened to see you, they’d probably dismiss you as an intern, or a young agent on the assignment of a lifetime to serve in the weapons room at the Avengers Compound.
The only records that existed of you in the building were medical records under a false name, only going back as far as you could remember, or you were willing to divulge. Natasha made sure anything else regarding you was destroyed when she helped you defect from the Red Room.
You got along with your teammates as well as one could have hoped being a trained assassin turned good. Natasha was the fun, vintage flirty one. Maybe because she got out sooner. You… well, you had a reputation of not being someone to mess with. Certainly the occasional joke at your expense would come through the comms or over a glass of whiskey in the living room, but no one seemed to really be able to get under your skin. Your calm, stoic, unbothered demeanour made you good partners with the likes of Bucky, but an anomaly and a challenge to a certain demigod who thrived on getting a rise out of those he lived with.
On this particular evening, the mission was too last-minute and the security too heavy to call in another Agent and have them briefed to be your backup. The objective was simple enough, but the risks too great to send you in alone. You needed a strong and subtle person to rely on.
”So we’re sending you in with Loki,” Steve said in a way that made it seem like he might regret it later. You raised an eyebrow and looked over to where the dark-haired Asgardian sat lounging in a chair, meeting your eyes with a satisfied smirk. Loki, clearly a little bored being stuck on Earth for the time being, had recently become much more willing to offer his services. You’d done one or two missions with him, but this would be your first time undercover together.
“Fine by me,“ you shrugged. “When are we leaving?”
“Just under an hour,” Natasha handed you a duffel and a garment bag. “Black tie, your favourite,” she grinned and you rolled your eyes. She knew you had a love-hate relationship with dressing up to the nines.
“Do you know how to walk in heels, Agent?” Loki teased from his chair, trying to remember a time he hadn’t seen you in combat boots, or just your socks or sneakers around the Compound.
You smiled politely, not responding, not giving him anything. Taking the bags from Natasha, you made your way to your room to get ready as Loki watched your retreating form.
Half an hour later your clicking footfall echoed down the hallway as you made your way back to the briefing room, messing with the twisting function on the eyeliner pencil in the bag your friend had given you.
”I can disarm an IED without looking but I can’t do this damn eyelin- Nat?” You mumbled and huffed as you walked into the room in your outfit for the mission.
Loki’s eyebrows raised from pure surprise. Never having seen you look anything other than militaristic, the sight of you in a floor-length, figure-hugging black sequin dress caught him a bit off guard. Your lips were painted a deep crimson, hair falling in perfect waves down behind your shoulders that tensed in frustration as you handed Natasha the eyeliner pencil to finish off your look.
“That’s your disguise?” You looked at him sceptically before surrendering your face to Natasha. He was just Loki in a suit. Not very disguised.
”Not quite,” Loki smirked and applied his illusion. When you opened your freshly-lined eyes they widened a bit and you nodded, a little impressed. He was still Loki, but with short dark blonde hair and eyebrows. His curled hair was styled in a standard Midgardian fashion. You were a bit taken aback at how such a small change made him look so different. Sure, you knew how disguises worked, but his presence seemed too… much to ever hide. But there he was, looking like a normal human. He was still Loki, through and through; the bright blue eyes and smarmy smile gave him away.
“What’s your cover?”
”Perhaps a Lord? A business tycoon, ooh- an actor?”
”Go with actor. It explains the…” you tilted your head and sized him up, looking for the right word.
“Dashing good looks?” He charmed. You shook your head.
“The dramatic aura. Ready?” You asked, knowing the car was waiting downstairs. Natasha slid a gold wedding band across to him on the table, he looked at it in disgust and conjured his own gaudy golden ring to grace the fourth finger of his left hand. You slipped your own band on, followed by a four carat diamond engagement ring.
“Aren’t you going to tell me how devilishly handsome I look? So I can be bashful and tell you how exquisite you are in that dress?”
You sucked your teeth and loaded your gun, sliding up the hem of your dress to load it into your thigh holster. “I know I look beautiful, I don’t need you to tell me.” You picked up your purse and motioned for him to follow. Loki gave a sullen look to Natasha, who smirked at him before watching you two leave the room.
The plan was simple: find Raef Gustav, slip the chip into his pocket to copy the contents of his phone, make sure the contents are copied, get out.
“How are you going to get close enough?” Loki asked in a low voice as he escorted you up the stairs on his arm. You glanced at him from the corner of your eye and explained,
“No powerful man can resist the idea of being with another powerful man’s wife.”
Loki gave a crooked grin and raised his eyebrows, “I look powerful?”
You turned and adjusted his bowtie, then glanced at the diamond glittering on your finger. “My left hand says you’re rich. Here on Midgard, that’s the same thing.” You ran your hands from his shoulders to his chest and then smiled sweeter than he’d ever seen you smile. It caught him a little off-guard, how your eyes sparkled with your grin.
“Honey, you have our invitations, right?“ You drawled in a positively charming American accent that had a hint of the south. He gave a soft and confused smile, then, after a brief moment of kicking himself, he suddenly realised you had just switched on your cover.
He gathered himself, the falter unnoticed by anyone but you, and pulled the counterfeit invites from his pocket, handing them to the security guard. “Of course, darling.”
Once you got inside you effortlessly clocked your target within ten seconds. He was standing next to a piece of artwork. As you signalled to Loki you whispered the plan to him between grins and laughs of your fake conversation. He was to lead you over to the statue and pretend to be interested in buying it.
“Let’s get a drink,” you squeezed his arm and nodded your head to the bar. Loki, as instructed, shrugged you off and inspected the price tag on the work of art.
“How would you like this for your garden, my love?” Loki asked with extra arrogance in his voice, not looking at you, but attracting the attention of Gustav, who less than ten feet away.
“I’m a simple girl, I don’t need a big ol’ statue” you smiled sweetly again and looked at him with pleading eyes. “I just need you to come with me to get a drink.”
“I must contact the dealer,” he shrugged you off and you let your face fall in the view of your target. “A whiskey, would you, darling? Top shelf.” Loki briefly glanced to you, not daring to wink or grin or do anything that would give him away.
You sighed and faked a brave smile, “Of course.” Making your way towards the bar, you didn’t dare look at Gustav. You knew he’d follow.
When you reached it you ordered a glass of white for yourself, and the whiskey for Loki, making sure to seem dejected. Then, you felt a hand at the small of your back. Fighting the instinct to smirk, you flinched a little and turned to look straight into the face of Raef Gustav. You stepped back a little and giggled nervously.
“O-oh, hi. I-I thought you were my husband,” you replied bashfully.
”Shouldn’t a man be responsible getting his wife a drink?” His thick Serbian accent rolled off his tongue as he eyed you up and down.
”Oh, well he’s preoccupied,” you looked over to where Loki was on his phone in front of the statue. ”I don’t mind.”
“What is so important that would pull him away from the sight of you in this dress?” He leaned against the bar. He wasn’t bad looking, and a little charming, you had to admit. You smiled and waved your hand dismissively.
“He’s got this silly little poker game later that he can’t stop talkin’ about. Keeps finding expensive things to buy me with the pot he’s sure he’s going to win,” you flashed a charming grin again and saw Gustav’s eyes flick to your red lips before relaxing more against the bar. He must have thought this southern belle couldn’t hurt a fly.
Gustav laughed arrogantly and signalled for the bartender. “My two ex-wives could teach him a thing or two about how money does not replace attention.”
You tilted your head and let him see your eyes slip to where his wedding ring used to be. Really, you were sizing up whether or not his phone was in his left pocket. No. The right one. Perfect. Your eyes flicked back up to meet his and you let yourself look a little nervous.
“I suppose it doesn’t,” you smiled shyly and let a blush grace your cheeks.
Loki turned his head to catch a glimpse of you and noticed you blushing. Could you really fake that? He asked himself. He watched you for a couple of minutes as you began flirting back. Then, he watched as you whispered to Gustav and subtly handed him a hotel swipe card that had the copying chip planted in it, nervously telling him to hide it in case your husband looked over. Gustav smirked and put it in his right pocket with his phone. Loki more noticeably turned his head in search of his wife and you faked a flinch, picking up your drinks and blushing once more before you hurried back to your husband.
"How in the Nine Realms do you fake flushing that red?" Loki asked through gritted teeth as "your husband" smiled down at you and took the drink your offered.
"It's not fake," you smiled sweetly and giggled at the "joke" he just told you. "But you'll never get to know what I think of to make it happen," you winked and set down the glass of wine on the bar table Loki was now leaning against. He looked down at you with the utmost interest.
Pulling out your phone and checking the progress, you gave a breath of ease. “The chip is nearly done copying his phone." Replacing it in your purse you looked back up at Loki, somewhat bored. "I wasted a nice dress on something way too easy."
Loki watched in vain as you slowly began returning to your normal stoic self. He longed to keep talking to the flirtatious, free and fun version of you that wore elegant dresses with an unmatched confidence. The person with the infectious laugh who batted her eyelashes and thought of unspeakable things to blush in a crowded room. He had half a mind to ask you to dance to let the charade go on for just a bit longer, in case it wasn’t a charade but perhaps the real person unleashed. Before he could make his mind up, it was all over.
Your phone vibrated in your purse to signal the copying was complete. "Time to go," you looked up at him, now fully back to the only version of you he’d known before that evening.
“You know, I believe that was the first time I’ve ever heard you laugh,” Loki mused as you two walked down the stairs side-by-side, no longer feigning being a married couple.
You gave him a curious glance, “That was all fake. I’m not sure it counts.”
“Why don’t you laugh?”
“I‘ll laugh if something’s funny,” you shrugged and slid back into the awaiting car, sending the copied data straight to the Compound’s database for Natasha to get to work on.
You had no idea you’d set off an internal challenge for the God of Mischief. Something for him to sink his teeth into, to perhaps stop being so bored on Midgard. He glanced over at you scrolling through the data and swore to himself he’d make you laugh. If that wasn’t your real laugh he’d heard that night, he’d be sure to get it out of you soon enough.
Forgetting all about that conversation, and that night as just another mission, you continued your life as normal. Missions, briefings, trainings. A couple of weeks passed since the gallery and Gustav had gone underground again, his operation having been struck a major blow by the data you collected. With the names of his buyers in the government’s possession, new customers were hardly knocking down his door to purchase. In fact, the ones knocking down his door were probably looking for revenge at being exposed. You didn’t really care; you’d done your part. Everything was back to how it always was. Well, almost everything.
You started to notice that Loki was making a few more snarky comments when you were around. Some directed at you, some not. Whenever a comment got a particularly responsive reaction from the people around, his eyes would flit to you to seemingly gauge your reaction.
One particular joke aimed at Banner, one a bit too rude to repeat, got rambunctious laughter from Thor. You smiled widely and rolled your eyes, but more at Thor’s reaction than from Loki’s comment about the bigger guy.
”Come now,” Loki narrowed his eyes at you from across the kitchen counter. “You’re really not going to laugh at that?”
Having forgotten all about the conversation outside the gallery, all the fanfare of the past couple weeks suddenly made sense.
You shrugged and picked up an apple, saying “Sorry Loki, you’ll just have to be funnier than that.”
And thus began the conscious resistance.
Some days later you were getting your cardio in by running the boundary of the compound a couple times. When you walked up the path looking at your stats on your fitness tracker, you were suddenly pulled behind a bush by Loki.
“What th-mm!”
”SHH!” He whispered loudly, having shoved a hand over your mouth. You twisted you chin hard and bit down on his finger, causing him to retract it and give you a scolding look.
“Don’t do that.”
“Watch,” he hissed, directing your attention to a snake slithering on the ground near an approaching Thor.
The God of Thunder, an avid lover of snakes, bent down to pick it up and let it wrap around his hands. You smiled softly at the sight of the big mighty demigod playing so delicately with a small creature. Thor let the snake slither up his arm and settle on his shoulders, then Loki dropped the illusion. The snake had actually been a raccoon, who was very unhappy with its place on top of Thor’s shoulders.
Loki laughed deviously as the raccoon scrambled over his brother’s head, Thor yelping loudly under a cloud of fur, squeaks and claws. It was a pretty funny, and it probably would have made you laugh if didn’t know that’s exactly what Loki wanted. Not wanting to give away your resistance, you smiled widely and patted Loki on the shoulder (a little condescendingly) and said, “Nice one.”
He furrowed his brows in confusion, but let it go as you snuck away from the scene before Thor could think you were involved.
Loki almost got you the next day, albeit unintentionally. Or maybe it was Thor’s doing. Either way, you entered the kitchen to make a cup of coffee to find the brothers bickering over something or the other. You took a step back when you realised it may become violent, urgently suggesting they take it outside. Thor held his hand out and summoned Mjolnir from where it sat on the coffee table but as it approached it nearly hit Loki, who dove out of the way and slipped on his own feet, crashing to the floor with a panicked look on his face.
Your hand shot to your mouth in shock, but then to hide your laugh at the incredulous glare he was wearing and how uncharacteristically disheveled he looked sprawled on the kitchen floor. He looked at you and you lowered your hand, still trying to hide your smile and rushing out of the room. He scrambled to his feet and followed you, reaching the hallway just after you’d quickly dispelled the laughter building in your throat. Grabbing you by the shoulder, he turned you around and looked expectantly at your face.
”Are you okay?“ You asked innocently, but too innocently. Something behind his eyes, framed by his hair in disarray, flashed in realisation.
“You’re doing it on purpose,” he breathed out, laughing shortly in disbelief.
“Doing what?“
He growled and barked another bitter laugh, stepping back and looking you up and down. He smirked, you didn’t know why. Was he upset? Impressed? Both?
You dropped the innocent act and shrugged, repeating an earlier sentiment: “Sorry Loki, you’re just gonna have to be funnier than that.”
His eyes narrowed. ”You think you’ve won, don’t you?”
You crossed your arms and cocked your head. “Well, until proven otherwise…” you then shrugged and looked at him with a stone cold stare.
He gave you a menacing glare but chuckled angrily to himself, skulking back into the kitchen to lick his wounds. Perhaps taunting him wasn’t a good idea but, hell, teasing the trickster was a bit too much fun.
Later that evening, Loki’s quiet reading in his room was interrupted by Thor barging in.
”Might you knock, brother?”
“Come, we are watching a film.”
“… And?”
”Watch with us, Loki. You hide away and read most evenings. It would be good for you to be present with those who have welcomed you into their home.”
Loki sighed and put his book down, not in the mood to argue with his brother. Thor walked off mumbling something about finding a drink so Loki decided to make his way down to claim a comfortable seat by himself, before he was stuck being wedged between two Avengers on the couch.
When he walked into the living room he was surprised to see it was largely empty, except for you. You were asleep on the couch, arms crossed over your chest, head against the armrest, stretched-out legs crossed at the ankles. Loki scoffed a little. Of course you still looked composed and stone-cold while asleep.
Deciding he’d sit next to you in a last-ditch effort to get you to crack a laugh at one of his jokes, he made his way to stand next to you and gently nudge your shoulder with his knee.
“Hmm?” You opened your eyes, clearly a little hazy, and looked up at Loki.
“There’s a film about to start,” Loki explained. “Everyone’s coming down to watch so you may want to find another place to sleep.”
You sighed and closed your eyes again, sinking into the couch with an uncooperative huff.
“Come now, at least move over,” Loki fought his smile at how adorable you looked with your tired face a bit scrunched up, grumpy from being disturbed. He walked over to where your feet lay and gave them a quick squeeze to prompt you to release the space for him to sit. But the second his fingers met your socked foot you flinched and took in a sharp breath, eyes shooting open with an embarrassing noise. You had squeaked.
The next several seconds felt like an eternity, but passed quickly nonetheless.
He knew. He knew you were ticklish. You knew your reaction given you away. He knew you knew your reaction had given you away.
Your heads snapped to the voices coming down the hallway. You uncrossed your legs and sat up, making to stand up and run. He forced your knees back into the couch and sat on your shins, pulling a blanket over the two of you, covering well past where your feet were sticking out, your legs immobilised under his own.
With a grunt you tried to tug your legs from under his seat. You couldn’t move them one bit. Your chest heaved with anxious anticipation. Slowly, looking up to meet Loki’s dark and victorious features, you grimaced at how ecstatic he looked. Someone turned the lights off as people filtered into the room. Someone else turned the TV on. No one noticed you and Loki locked in a stare down.
Then, he spoke. His voice was low, growling, triumphant. “We can do this here, or somewhere else. Either way,” he leaned in closer and declared:
”I. Win.”
It sent shivers up your spine.
Your head snapped to the screen where the movie started rolling. If you stayed, he’d have unrestricted access to your feet. If you let him move you to another location, he’d find out the places you were even more ticklish and there’d be no one around to help. Not that you wanted help - did you? No. The last thing you wanted was everyone on the team knowing you were ticklish, and Loki knew that. He knew it split-seconds before you did and in those tiny fragments of time, he had trapped you.
Between a rock and a hard place, you sighed in defeat and looked up at the ceiling, caressing your hot cheeks with your fingers.
He was right… he won.
Deciding to protect your more vulnerable spots, you crossed your arms and leaned back down on the couch with your jaw clenched harder than it ever had been. You shot icy daggers at him when your head reached the armrest, then turned your head and trained your eyes on the screen to pretend like you were watching.
From the corner of your eye you saw him grin devilishly, lean back casually against the couch and reach his hand under the blanket. Anything else, focus on anything else, you told yourself, trying to pull a colour or a sound from the atmosphere to hypnotise yourself with, to block it out. The clinking of candy when Bucky’s metal hand reached into the bag of Skittles. The sound of Thor sipping his beer, or Wanda eating popcorn or-
You flinched hard and tightened your mouth shut when Loki’s fingers met the sole of your foot, barely touching, barely moving. Refusing to look at him, you kept your eyes trained on the screen and successfully suppressed the surprised gasp that had gathered in your chest. You released the breath in small almost-silent bursts, your whole body tensing when he slowly, agonisingly started ghosting his fingers up and down the length of your foot.
It had been so long since someone had dared to even try tickling you. So long ago that you couldn’t remember who it was, why they did it, how it felt, if you enjoyed it or not. All you knew was right here and now, the most mischievous person in your universe had you trapped beneath him after discovering you’d been teasing him for weeks, and he was not about to show mercy.
Flinching again when his fingers touched the outermost part of your sole, you quickly gave up pretending to watch and turned to press the back of your head into the armrest. You held your breath, holding your giggles in as a smile broke through your onto tensed mouth.
Knowing Loki was watching your every reaction made it so much worse. You knew he was watching because he began focusing his fingers on the place that made you smile. His pace picked up as he scratched more firmly into the outer edge of your foot and a single, small, breathy laugh escaped you. To those around you, it could have been a small cough, but when you met Loki’s eyes all hope left you.
Giving him a frustrated and helpless look, you clamped a hand over your mouth and grabbed the edge of the blanket, pulling it over your face as his fingers sped up further, scribbling and switching between the most sensitive parts on the bottoms of your feet. You had half a mind to sit straight up and punch him hard in the jaw, but you knew it would barely hurt him, and you knew there’d be consequences. Trying to stay as still as possible, you muffled your laughs in your hand, thankful the movie was loud and there was some kind of combat scene happening right at the beginning of the film.
Loki grinned wider as he felt the silent suppressed laughs shake through your body and how your legs tugged in vain as he dusted his fingertips across the balls of your feet, earning himself a more violet jolt in your search for reprieve. He then tried to worm his way underneath your toes but you curled them too tight. Not deterred in the slightest, he slipped his other hand under the blanket and used it to hold your toes back, grazing the space underneath them before digging his fingers in.
GODS. Your eyes shot open under the blanket and your back arched against the couch as your other hand also flew to your mouth to hold in the scream of desperation. His fingers wormed and scratched and dug into the spaces underneath your toes as you whimpered breathy laughs into your hands, your desperate reaction merely egging him on. The sheer pressure you were under to keep yourself from exploding into belly-laughter brought tears of exhilaration to your eyes, spilling over down your cheeks. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, his hand released your toes and moved up to latch on to the muscle above your knee.
A series of bombs went off in the film as a ship exploded, covering any laughter that spilled over as you sat straight up and used one of your hands to seize the forearm guiding his fingers towards your knee. You‘d caught it within millimetres. He paused his tickling fingers and turned to look at you with a smirk, which turned into a cocky grin of delighted surprise when he saw you breathing heavily with hand still over your mouth, cheeks stained with the tears of mirth still brimming in your eyes.
Caught in a stare-down again, he raised his eyebrows to ask you the same question he’d asked earlier. Your hand left your mouth and you sneered at him before closing your eyes and hanging your head in defeat. You looked back up, tongue against your cheek, jaw locked, and nodded your head towards the door to tell him you’d rather have this continue elsewhere. Whatever he would do to you could only be made worse by having it happen publicly.
So there you stood, and silently walked out of the room with Loki behind you. Theoretical gun to the back of your head. He knew that you’d make a break for it the second you two were in the hallway so he concealed himself and allowed his illusion to follow you, slipping ahead to catch you when you ran.
Sure enough, you did run. As soon as your feet touched the marbled hallway you took off in a sprint, not daring to look behind you. Though you only made it a twenty feet before the real Loki reached out from a doorway and grabbed you by the bicep, using the momentum of your speed to direct you into a wall. You slammed against it with a grunt, but it didn’t really hurt. He was on you in a second, chuckling into your ear as he grabbed your wrists and pinned them behind your back.
“This doesn’t count,” you growled. “You’re still not- ugh- FUNNY!” You strained against him as he crossed your wrists behind you up to meet your opposite elbows. You felt a cool wrapping sensation pass over your forearms and you growled again when he let go but you couldn’t move your arms. “HEY! Magic is off the table!” He grabbed you by your shoulders and spun you around, pinning you against the wall with your arms secured behind your back. Gods, he was strong. And close.
“If only you hadn’t made an enemy of me by refusing my attempts to simply make you laugh,” he leered, relishing in your angry grunts as he kept your shoulders flat against the wall.
You shot your knee up to hit him in the groin but he anticipated it, catching your leg just above the knee and squeezing the muscle. A strangled laugh bubbled over and you yanked your leg back down. He smirked.
“You must be devastatingly ticklish to be fighting this hard.”
“You can’t do this,” you growled, composure slipping as you searched the hallway for an escape. Perhaps you could call Friday.
“Darling, I don’t believe you’re in the position to be telling me what I can and cannot do.” He flashed his cocky grin again, then tilted his head towards the closed hallway door to the living room. “I’d say they have an hour or two left, wouldn’t you agree?“ He leaned in closer and looked intensely into your eyes, his own gleaming with mischief as he chuckled in a low rasp. “That’s quite a long time before someone comes looking for you.“
Even though you knew he was trying to fluster you, it was still working. You shifted uncomfortably and tried to knee him again as a last-ditch effort, but your knees were a little weak from this whole interaction, so your head wasn’t really it in.
He caught your knee again and squeezed, but this time when you doubled over he bent his knees to use your movement to hoist you over his shoulder. You cursed yourself as a small wince found its way out with your breath. Loki chuckled as he carried your struggling form with ease down the hallway, to the right, then another right and into the training room. He crouched and set you down feet-first on the sparring mats before grabbing your ankle in one hand and tugging while pushing on your shoulder, sending you topping to the ground. You knew how to land so it didn’t hurt, but you glowered up and him standing above you. Your arms hadn’t budged since he’d bound them into place with his magic.
He crouched to kneel down next to you as you panted and snarled, using every last part of anger you had in you to try and ward him off. You were devastatingly ticklish, and you had no escape.
”Loki,” you spoke harshly with all the authority you could muster. “I swear if you lay one hand on me I’ll- NOHOHO!”
In an instant, the facade was broken when he reached out and latched on to your sides and drilled his thumbs into your hips. Resolve already weakened from him tickling you on the couch, you couldn’t stop the loud and desperate laughter as it ripped through your chest.
“NOHO LOHOHOKIHI PLEEEAASE!” You screeched through grinning lips as he kept drilling his thumbs in.
You arched your back and tried to roll onto your side, kicking hard in his general direction. At least, you hoped you were. Your eyes were closed from laughing so hard that you couldn’t know for sure, so you gave up and tried to turn to roll away.
“No, you’re not going anywhere,” he growled through a deep laugh, climbing on top of you to keep your back to the mat and to render your swinging legs useless as weapons.
”YOU WIN, YO-HOU WIHIHIN, AHH!” You belted out boisterous laughter as his thumbs didn’t relent their drilling at your hips, his other fingers digging into your lower sides to join the fray.
”Of course I win, darling. I’m simply claiming my prize,” he snarled and moved his hands higher to hook his thumbs into your lower ribs, his fingers wedging their way under your upper arms to poke at the sides of your ribs. You whined and tried once again to keep your mouth shut as desperate giggles broke though.
“You’re not still attempting hide your laughs from me, are you?” He chuckled and dug in harder and faster, causing the high-pitched giggles to flow out of you like a bubbling stream. ”I thought you would have learned by now.”
His hands suddenly stopped and you took a huge deep breath in while you could, only for it to escape you in a small scream when you felt his strong fingers latch on above your kneecap and softly squeeze. You shut your eyes tight and cackled under his touch, desperately kicking your legs to free them from his hands, but he only increased his pressure and his pace. Little shrieks escaped intermittently through your laughs, prompting Loki to laugh along in amusement. He paused to look down on you with a grin on his face.
“Is this too much?” He taunted.
”Ah-hi-I’m gonnaha kihill you,” you panted.
He grinned wider and removed his fingers, bringing his hands forwards to gruffly grab your hips and turn you to be lying on your right side before sitting atop you again. “That’s a big threat for someone who turns into a giggling mess at the slightest touch,” he scoffed, reaching his hands down to attack. His right hand latching onto your lower ribs and his left handing clawing at your belly through your tshirt.
You squealed and threw your head back, squirming underneath him as he dissolved you into, yes, a giggling mess. You tried to find the words to threaten him again but they all collapsed at your lips, turning into desperate fleeting laughter with every poke and prod at your stomach. Loki discovered that a lighter touch there was more effective, and so dusted his fingers around where he could feel your navel beneath the fabric, relishing in the high-pitched giggles and squeaks he could pull from between your rosy cheeks.
”Honesty, darling, you’re far too ticklish to be messing with someone so much stronger than you.” Loki grinned down at your giggling form as he slowed, but didn’t completely ease off his torture.
“S-stohop tahalking,” you whined over jumpy giggles as his fingers poked at your belly button through your shirt.
”Still telling me what to do?” Loki scoffed with a playful warning. “You never listen, do you?”
He rose slightly again and pushed the back of you shoulder over so you were face-down on the mat, him settling back on top of you, ready to strike at your sides and hips again. You growled and whined and giggled in anticipation, turning your head to glare at him as best you could. With a grunt you kicked your foot up to clock him hard in the shoulder, smirking when you saw it caught him off guard, stomach dropping when you saw the dark smile he gave you as he reached behind himself and pulled your foot back with a strong grip around your ankle.
“You want more here? Darling, just say so,“ he taunted with no hint of mercy crossing his eyes.
“N-no, NO!” You tugged on your foot but he locked it in place, pulling your toes back and once again harshly scratching and scribbling at the sensitive skin underneath through your cotton sock.
You let out a scream and tugged on your magical bonds as your head dropped to the mat, your whole body shaking with deep and helpless laughter as his fingers sent unbearably ticklish shockwaves through your foot and up your leg. Kicking and pushing did nothing to help you as he continued his tortuous onslaught, scraping his fingers down the length of your foot to scratch at the place where your arch met your heel. The laughter reached deep into your lungs and while it was overwhelming, it was somewhat refreshing. As if parts of your body, the ones only used for laughter, were being moved and worked for the first time in forever.
Loki released your foot after a minute or so and it fell to the mat. So did your head, cheek meeting the plastic fabric as you gulped air deep into your lungs.
”I’m quite impressed you held that in back there,” Loki mused, then genuinely laughed as he looked down at your rosy resigned face.
”Thanks,” you muttered, sinking your cheek deeper into the mat as you took the air in, using those newer parts of your lungs which felt cool and calming. It almost felt like a runner’s high. You turned your head up to look at him pleadingly and hesitantly say, “In the nicest and most respectful way, Your Highness, may I ask if you’re done torturing me now?”
The way your lower lip slightly protruded and your eyes filled with a begging hope made Loki grin and reach forward to release his magic from your arms as he swung a leg over and climbed off your hips, taking a seat beside you as you sighed in relief. You flipped onto your back and stretched your arms, which were a little stiff from your straining against his magic. Sitting up, you looked over to where Loki was gazing at you curiously.
“What?” Your heart skipped a beat as the thought flashed through your mind that maybe he wasn’t really done. He seemed to notice the fear and smirked a little.
“You’re not upset.” It was an observation, and a question.
“Can’t blame someone for their nature,” you shrugged and twisted a little, releasing the tension in your back in the form of little pops. “God, I forgot how ticklish I am,” you muttered and laughed at the absurdity of the situation.
It was a different laugh to the ones Loki had just pulled from you. It was sweet and subdued, a little familiar. He furrowed his brows, trying to place it. Then, in a moment of realisation he scoffed a little and looked at you with a wry smile.
“It was real.”
”Hmm?” You looked up at him, surprised at how interested in you he appeared to be.
“At the gallery. Those laughs were real.”
You smiled, then it turned into a grin. “Of course they were real,” you laughed again, that sweet sound that lifted his heart. You gave him a look like it was obvious. “It’s hard to fake emotions and reactions. Instead, you have to use your repertoire of memories and just… remember at the right time.”
“Like the blush.”
”Like the blush,” you nodded with a satisfied smile.
He had half a mind to ask you what you thought of to make you flush so red. To maybe tackle you back to the mat and tickle you senseless until you told him, but he knew that would only be an excuse for him to put his hands on you again. Just as it would have been if he had asked you to dance at the gallery. He also knew that you were keenly perceptive, and apparently able to conceal the truth from him quite effortlessly, so he didn’t dare risk his curiosity in you being exposed. Instead, he asked,
”What made you laugh at the gallery?”
You grinned and turned to face him, still massaging the tight spot on your shoulder as you began to tell him a story about when you and Natasha were undercover in Berlin and you both had a little bit too much to drink.
He, in turn, shared his own story of him and Thor getting into a particularly sticky situation late one evening after a bit too much Asgardian ale.
There you sat, together, trading stories and laughing into the night. And thank goodness Loki decided to show you mercy, because no one did come looking for you two.
By the time the tiredness began tugging more forcefully on your mind you saw the sky beginning to turn warmer shades of the dark blue of night. With the lightening of the sky, you saw something different in Loki’s eyes. A small difference that would go unnoticed by anyone else, but it was also warmer. Fondness, perhaps. Affection, you hoped.
Walking you back to your room to catch an hour or two of sleep, Loki half-heartedly apologised for keeping you awake all night. You dismissed it with a wave of your hand, saying you’d much rather appreciate an apology for the torture. He grinned, knowing you didn’t really mean it. He refused to apologise, instead he gave you his word it would stay your little secret. It was a selfish promise. He couldn’t bear the thought of anyone else being privy to rosiness of your cheeks or the tenacity with which you resisted, even though he knew you were right were you wanted to be.
As you both stood in front of your bedroom door you realised now would be the time you should say a polite goodbye and excuse yourself to bed. When you looked up at him he was smiling softly, understanding your resistance to what you should be doing.
You knew he knew what you were thinking, and it brought heat to your cheeks. He reached up, with confidence, and brushed his thumb over where your skin flushed beside your shy smile.
“What ever are you thinking of?” He teased, but not unkindly. He grinned. You gave him a look, but it was ruined by the smile tugging at your lips. Reaching a hand up to rest over his own hand caressing your cheek, you gave him a playfully firm look.
”Goodnight, Loki.”
He smiled widely, a little mischievously by nature, and took your hand in his, bringing it to his lips to place chaste kiss over your fingers.
“Goodnight, darling.”

Shows:
Avatar the Last Airbender

Things I can write for but have extra restrictions:
Shugo Chara - Due to the age of most of the cast, Ikuto is the only character I’ll write as romantic with the reader, otherwise I’ll only take platonic/family member requests.
Undertale/Deltarune - Sorry, no ‘boning’ the Skele-bros. I won’t write any Undertale/Deltarune smut, the most I’m comfortable with (for various reasons) is flirting and fluff.
Actors/Youtubers - My opinions regarding imagines about real people can be found here
Actors from the works in this list
Markiplier and Jacksepticeye
TheRunawayGuys and friends (only platonic/meeting them imagines)
Outside X-Box/Outside Xtra (Very iffy on anything more than platonic, though I’m totally fine with writing relationship stuff with their characters from Oxventure or Blades)
Things I can technically write but have particularly problematic creators so I’m hesitant to still include:
Five Nights at Freddy’s
Harry Potter
Even though Joss Whedon and David Cage are similarly problematic, I’ve not moved their works to this category because I personally feel that they’re far enough removed from their respective works that I’m still comfortable playing with their worlds and characters.
Particularly obscure stuff I can write that I don’t expect anyone to know, let alone request, but please do if you do know them. Or just talk to me/ask me about them if you’re a fan or curious about them.
+Anima (manga series)

can you do a rogers!daughter x Peter Parker where he confesses his love to her after a battle and the avengers hear on coms
loved this a lot <3 (might do a part two. lemme know if y’all are interested hehe)
。☆✼★━━ requests are closed ━━★✼☆。
You’re paired with Wanda and Clint for the latest mission: invading HYDRA for the super-soldier serum. It’s hard work, and you’ve been fighting for a good hour. You’re getting closer to the center, and as you consistently report back to your dad and Tony through the comms, you can’t help but feel like something else is bound to happen. Sure, you’re your father’s kid, and maybe you inherited a few of his enhanced abilities, but you’re wearing down the line and your muscles are starting to ache in that familiar overworked way.
“How’s it going down there?” You hear your dad through your earpiece, and with a final punch to one of the guards, you wheeze out a response.
“Fine, just clearing out the area. Are we clear to enter yet?”
“Almost.”
You hum, turning the corner with your gun up front, just as Natasha had trained you so many times before. “I’m all clear over here.”
“Proceed to the lab. Tell me if anything goes sou-”
You don’t get to hear the end of your dad’s sentence, because somebody sends you a harsh blow to the side of your head, momentarily interfering with your senses. You go stumbling to the floor, muttering a quick “fuck” under your breath.
Turning over, you move to get up, but somebody picks you up by the collar of your suit. Suddenly, you feel cold metal against your temple and you know someone’s pointing a gun at you.
“Make a move and you’re dead meat,” he seethes out. His grip on you is strong, and you blink away harsh tears while attempting to stop your winced expressions of pain. You swallow thickly, and more voices come in through your comms.
“Y/N?” Steve yells, worried. “Y/N are you okay?”
Wanda’s voice runs through your ears, “Steve, someone’s holding her hostage!”
“Who’s down?” Tony butts in.
“Y/N,” Sam fills in. “Scanner shows a gun to her head.”
“Wait, Y/N?” You hear Peter, and you let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding. God, what you would give to be with Peter instead of this HYDRA agent. “Is she alright? What’s happening? Where is she?”
“Kid, I need you to not panic,” Tony says, thrusting upwards while he flies over a portion of the building to find Steve. “Y/N’s got a gun to her head and we can’t risk anything right now.”
“Right,” Peter swallows, “Sorry.”
“Does anyone have any ideas?” Wanda inquires before sending another agent flying into the wall.
“I do,” your father barks, vibranium shield coming into contact with a man who has a gun. He pushes the door open, “Attack.” He makes his way through the hallways and corridors, hoping to find any trace of you.
“Steve, you need to be careful. We don’t know what this guy can do.” Sam reports flying alongside Tony while the two of them find Peter webbing a few people to the walls of the building.
“You okay, kid?”
Peter nods at his mentor’s question. “We need to help Y/N.” His voice comes off frantic and worried, and if this were any other occasion, Tony would’ve teased him for being so protective of you.
“Tell me what you’re here for,” the man with a gun and an awfully shaved beard questions you, the gun nudging further into the side of your head.
Your jaw clenches and you swallow again, “I’m not telling you anything.”
The man makes a move to do something, and you know it can’t be good.
Suddenly, the hairs on Peter’s neck stand upright and his Peter Tingle goes off hazardously. He pauses where he is, stopping his movement while he blinks in surprise, senses going into overload. Suddenly, he makes the connection, and in a split second, he’s running so fast Tony can’t even register where he’s going and what he’s doing.
“Kid! Hey!”
Peter bursts through the door, web slinging and snatching the weapon right out the agent’s hand before he can even blink. You gasp in surprise, head shooting in the direction of Spider-man.
Peter blows a hit to the man’s head, successfully knocking him out in one hit. He’s at your side in seconds, questions flying out while you try to adjust to the quick change in situation.
“Y/N, are you okay?”
“Peter, I’m fine,” You assure him, bringing his hands away from your face.
He doesn’t get the message though, and his hands fly back up to your face, allowing you to nuzzle into his glove-clad palm. He uses his hands to turn your face, inspecting your eyes and cheeks and jaw for scratches and bruises. He’s muttering under his breath, frantic and paranoid.
“Pete, Pete,” You hold both of his hands, keeping them away from your face. “I’m fine. Are you alright? Why’re you so worried?”
The eyes of his suit widen and he backtracks slightly, but not enough to lose physical contact with you.
“Why am I so worried? You just had a gun to your head, Y/N! You could’ve died!”
“But I didn’t.”
“But you could’ve!” He huffs, neither of you realizing that the entire team can hear you through the comms — and that they are. “That guy could’ve killed you! We could’ve lost you- I could’ve lost you!”
“Peter, it’s part of the job,” You calm him down with a humorless chuckle, slightly wary of where this is going. “This wasn’t the first time and it won’t be the last. But you saved me,” He tries to dodge your hands but you persist, bringing him close. “You saved me, Peter.”
“But what if I didn’t?”
“You did.”
“But what if I don’t make it next time, huh?! What do I do then?”
You click your tongue, glancing around at the barren room and the man passed out on the floor. You take a step closer to Peter.
“You see that over there?” You point towards the glass container. “That’s the super-soldier serum.” You don’t hear the gasps of the Avengers. “You just saved my life and retrieved them. There’s no ‘what if’ when it comes to your abilities, Peter. You made it.”
He’s quiet for a few beats. “I don’t want to lose you,” He confesses, whispering it while leaning his forehead against yours. “I love you.”
You blink in surprise but his eyes are shut while he stays put against your face. His lips are mere inches from yours, and you can feel the warmth radiating off of him. The two of you are too caught up in the moment to hear everyone else gasping at Peter’s confession.
“Yeah?” You interlock your fingers, your other hand slowly taking the flap of his mask and dragging it up above his lips. His breath fans your face, and your eyelids flutter shut for a moment. “I love you, too.” It comes out as a whisper, and before you know it, Peter’s leaning in and so are you. And for a split second you realize this is your best friend that you’re kissing, but then you realize that it feels so right.
Meanwhile, Tony turns to Steve with wide eyes and Rhodey is mouthing “did you know?” to anyone who can answer. Tony puts his hands up defensively, feigning innocence, and both men turn to look at Steve, who’s beside Bucky and Sam now.
“Well?” Tony whispers?”
“I didn’t know!” Steve defends, grumbling a “not like I’d approve of it anyways.”
“I knew,” Bucky raises his hand.
“Yeah, and me,” Sam agrees and Bucky rolls his eyes with a scoff.
“No you didn’t. She told me.”
“Yeah and she told me, too.”
“Well she told me first.”
“That’s not true.”
“Yes it is! I-”
“Guys!” Wanda cuts them off. She uses her head to motion towards a room, and heads turn in the direction of you and Peter, who are walking out with a briefcase full of the remaining serums.
“We good?” You ask as Peter pulls his mask down over his mouth and nose. Everyone nods and you walk over to your dad’s side.
“You okay, honey?”
“Fine, dad. Let’s just get out of here.”
He nods before looking at Tony. “Circle around the building and report back. Meet you on the quinjet in five.”
Peter smirks behind his mask when he realizes Bucky, Steve and Sam are all going to run their ways back to the jet.
“Race ya!” he yells before grabbing hold of your waist and thwipping up into the air. You scream in delight and Steve watches the two of you leave. Sam laughs at his seemingly protective-dad-mode.

¿What if Ultron killed the Guardians of the Multiverse?
To: Bryan Andrews, Ross Marquand, Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios
                                                          Intro
¿What if events went differently in the 1st season finale of What If? ¿What if Ultron killed the Guardians of the Multiverse? In today’s fan fiction we’re going to be exploring what would’ve happened if Infinity Ultron had successfully won and killed the Guardians of the Multiverse in the first season finale of the What If series. ¿How can this affect the multiverse going forward? This is an original what if created by me following the mythology of Ultron and the Guardians of the Multiverse and the timeline of the MCU. Without wasting anymore time sit back and relax and enjoy this dark fan fiction.
                                                          Prologue
Now the reason why we explored those 3 worlds from the last 2 fan fictions I posted was because I had a terrible nightmare in which Uatu’s battle with Infinity Ultron took a dark turn and eventually he and the Guardians would be all killed and I am here today to explain everything. I am one of the Watchers and I am ur guide to these vast new realities. Follow me and pounder the question. What if…
                                                                            Act 1
The events of the finale were playing out the same as in our universe. The Guardians and Uatu were battling hard against Ultron and they eventually defeated him or in this case we almost did. In this universe Natasha Romanoff shot the arrow containing Arnim Zola but unfortunately it missed. This allowed Ultron to grab him by the neck and choke him to death in front of the Guardians as they watched in horror after giving their final attempts to defeat him. The Guardians and Ultron fought one last time but eventually was able to kill most of them except Thor and Gamora and Strange Supreme. They were able to put up a good fight against him but Ultron easily overpowered and eventually killed them for good except Strange Supreme. He told Strange that now he will suffer more than he ever did before ripping their egos apart killing them for good. With the Guardians of the Multiverse and Uatu  dead Ultron then returned to the observatory and decided to destroy the Guardians’s worlds with the first being Carter’s world.
                                                                                  Act 2
Meanwhile, in Carter’s world Black Widow, Hawkeye, Nick Fury and Brock Rumlow who has yet to become Crossbones were taking down a Hydra facility base when they saw Ultron arrive. They didn’t know who Ultron was but since they thought he was an enemy of Hydra they fired at him but Ultron summoned his legion of drones instead. The Shield agents fought against the drones and Ultron sliced Fury into half just like what he did with Thanos in his world. He then grabbed Brock and Clint by their necks and choked them to death in front of Natasha. Natasha and Ultron fought each other before Ultron got the upper hand on her injuring her badly. Ultron told her that he fought a variant of her in his world and now he was going to destroy the multiverse and he destroyed the tesseract obtaining the Space Stone before putting it on his sword. After that the cleansing of Carter’s world happened. With one world gone Ultron moved to T’Challa’s world where he met king T’Chaka and the rest of Wakanda. Ultron told him that he had recently killed T’Challa along with the rest of the guardians and was going to steal all the vibranium from them. They were all horrified to hear that and Wakanda then got into a massive battle with Ultron. They were able to put up a solid fight against him but Ultron decided that he wouldn’t handle such pity hits and summoned his drones instead. Ultron equipped himself with more magnicraft and vibranium. Ultron would then leave Wakanda to die in search for Ego the Living Planet whom he detected earlier when he was fighting the Wakandans. Ultron found Ego but since he was a planet he felt that summoning his drones was almost impossible so he had to find a way to reach his brain to destroy the planet. Ego and Ultron clashed with each other before Ultron managed to find his brain and he detonated it killing him for good. Ultron returned to Earth briefly and killed Peter Quill as he could be a powerful threat in the future. Before he left he returned to Wakanda where he saw the city destroyed and everyone dead. He then left Earth to search for the Ravagers. Elsewhere, the Ravagers, Yon-Rogg, Yondu and Nebula along with Thanos found out that Earth has been destroyed and were further devastated when they found out that T’Challa was killed and eventually went to find the killer before Ultron himself showed up. Ultron arrived and immediately sliced Thanos in half like last time before again grabbing Yondu and Yon-Rogg by the neck choking them both of death in front of Nebula while the drones fought and killed the other Ravagers. Nebula told Ultron how there was a plan for universal expansion to conquer all of the uníverse but Ultron was displeased with the idea before killing her for good. With another world gone Ultron went to the world of Episode 3 and we will be following the continuation that I made a short time ago so pls do keep this in mind as u read this. The Avengers and the X-men alongside with Nick Fury and Shield are currently on Asgard aiding the Asgardians with the threat of Hela and Thanos also arrived on Earth with the Black Order and invaded Asgard. Thanos was fighting Hela while the heroes were fighting Hela’s army and the Black Order. Just then Ultron arrived on Earth and Natasha was horrified to see him. Ultron saw everyone and was shocked to see Natasha Romanoff was with them. But what shocked him the most was that this wasn’t this world’s Natasha. It was his Natasha that he killed earlier. Ultron asked Natasha how was she still alive if she had killed her earlier. Natasha said that “maybe u killed me in another universe but we defeated u in my universe”. Ultron was shocked to hear that meaning that there was a world where the Watcher and the Guardians won after all. He then proceeded to AGAIN slice Thanos in half. Everyone else fought Ultron and his drones but they were easily defeated with most of the armies getting killed. Hela fought Ultron in combat and although she almost defeated him he had the Infinity Stones which made him too powerful to be stopped. Ultron then grabbed Fury and Hela by the neck and choked them to death in front of all the heroes. The Avengers were horrified to see that their founder was killed and they all charged fourth to Ultron but Ultron easily defeated them. Captain America told them that it would be best for them to surrender as he was too strong for all of them. Captain Marvel, Ghost Rider, the X-men and Shield agreed and kneeled before him. Ultron smiled realizing how this world didn’t resist him before he imprisoned them in the Pocket Dimension and decimated Asgard right in front of their eyes. With another world gone he decided to ignore Doctor Strange’s world as it was already destroyed. Meanwhile, in the Zombie world Zombie Hunter Spider-Man and the Guardians of the Galaxy have just killed Thanos and dusted away all the zombies ending the plague for good at the cost of Thor’s life. They met other survivors like Shang-Chi, Katy, Death Dealer, Yelena Belova, Red Guardián, Jimmy Woo, Kate Bishop, and Ms. Marvel and right when they were going to start fixing everything Ultron arrived and they all watch in horror. Ultron said that they were no match against him as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes have now fallen. The héroes decided to ignore him and charged at Ultron but he quickly defeated them and instead of killing them he decided to just capture them putting them in the Pocket Dimension as he felt that it would be useless to kill the remaining survivors of that world and he teleported away. Meanwhile, in Killmonger’s world Shuri, Pepper and the rest of the Dora Milaje stormed the throne room only to see Ultron on the throne. Ultron then said that Killmonger was killed along with the other guardians who fought valiantly. In shock to hear this Shuri told them to attack him as she thought he was another enemy of Wakanda. However, Ultron killed all of them except Pepper. Ultron told Pepper to side with her if she wanted to live. She no other choice but to do so and she watched in horror as Ultron and his drones destroyed Wakanda killing everybody in it including the US’s government’s military. After that she imprisoned Pepper with the other heroes in the Pocket Dimension. He then briefly returned to Thor’s world and destroyed it immediately after that world was already under siege while he was in the other universes. Ultron then smiled after he killed the Guardian’s worlds but he saw another world and decided to head to that world which was none other than the world of Edward Norton’s World War Hulk. In that world Hulk screamed at Thanos after he had just killed Loki who he considered his last friend as everyone he loved was gone and they were about to get into a fight until Ultron and his drones arrived like always slicing Thanos into half and his drones wiping out the Black Order and the armies. Ultron then turned to the Hulk and he was in a defensive position. Ultron then said that on his universe Hulk was his creador who eventually went on to wipe out half of the multiverse. Hulk screamed at Ultron realizing at what he did in an alternate universe. Ultron tried to convince Hulk to join him but he lashed out at Ultron and he started fighting him in a brief battle that would end with Hulk defeated being captured in the Pocket Dimension by Ultron. Ultron himself decided to spare this world too as this world was meaningless and was already destroyed. Ultron finally completed his purpose of destroying the multiverse with the Guardians of the Multiverse dead and the other heroes captured Ultron can finally rest.
                                                                                   Final act
Meanwhile, in a distant universe Kang the Conquerer was traveling in his giant sword when he arrived in a universe that was completely devastated. He then heard a recording from Arnim Zola explaining to him how a sentient being called Ultron decimated half of the multiverse. Kang was shock to hear that there were people capable of destroying worlds and he headed off to find Ultron. Kang found Ultron and Ultron introduced himself to Kang. Ultron was surprised to hear that there was still some life left in the multiverse and fought Kang. Ultron defeated him and Kang was surprised knowing that this was the first time he lost in a fight like this. Ultron and Kang would continue fighting but Kang lost every time he did it. Kang decided to give up and eventually decided to escape temporarily while he planned a coordinated attack on Ultron. He then saw a orange portal open and it was the TVA themselves who told Kang that if he fought Ultron again it will be fatal for the entire multiverse as his main variant He Who Remains was killed earlier by Sylvie. Kang understood and decided to take a better approach to instead recruit the Avengers of his world but they told him that it would be unnecessary as Ultron did capture other heroes from different universes while he was on his conquest. Kang decided to go find them instead. Elsewhere, in the Pocket Dimension the captured heroes introduced themselves to one other and as they were doing that Kang arrived and explained to them the coordinated plan of attack against Ultron and everyone agreed thus Kang being a multiversal being released them and they went to fight Ultron. Ultron was waiting for Kang to return and Kang did return but this time with a army of heroes. Ultron was shocked seeing the heroes he captured freed by Kang and the final battle between Ultron and the heroes began. Ultron and Kang were fighting in close quarters combat while the heroes dealt with Ultron’s drones. Kang then managed to successfully defeat Ultron with not much energy left. The other heroes then destroyed the drones and saw Ultron defeated. Ultron said that he won because he wanted to win and Kang destroyed him for good once and for all. The Infinity Stones were then safeguarded with the Avengers. The heroes than thanked Kang as they were grateful for his help. The heroes of the zombie world and Pepper then bid farewell to Kang as he returned them back to his world. The other heroes decided that they will bring Hulk back with them as his world was also destroyed and that he could be rehabilitated there as he had already suffered too much with losing his loved ones and failing the city. They thought this would be a good opportunity for the Hulk to start a new life in their world and warn General Ross of the grave danger Abomination would bring to Harlem. Kang agreed and said goodbye to them as he send them back to their world.
                                                                                      Epilogue
In Killmonger’s world Pepper decided to use whatever Stark Industries technology she had left to rebuild Wakanda and would bury everyone that died in Ultron’s conquest. In the zombie world The rest of the guardians, Spider-Man and the survivors on Earth started rebuilding what they could after they lost so much. Peter returned to New York City and went to the Sanctum Sanctorum reading and learning everything he could about Doctor Strange and the Sorcerer Supreme. Peter sat in the chair remembering all the events that happened with Bruce Banner, the Avengers, Tony Stark, Thor etc. and now Ultron. He couldn't believe that he lost so much in a short period of time. Peter saw the eye of Agamotto and grabbed the cloak. Peter’s eyes opened and green went all around his hands. He thought that he had the great power and it was his responsibility to make sure that this never happened. Peter used the Time Stone reversing time. He could see where he was before the outbreak.  He ran off of the bus swinging away and knew that with the Time Stone he would be able to fix everything eradicating the zombie plague for good. In the world of Episode 3 Hulk became a official member of the Avengers and went to reunite with Betty Ross while the X-men and the other heroes decide to train more so when the next threat they would be ready. Somewhere else, Kang still had the Infinity Stones and decided to do something with them. He went to a world where the Avengers lost hope like in ur universe after learning from Thanos that 50% of the population couldn’t be reversed after the stones were destroyed and this was a week after that event. Kang arrives at the Avengers Compound giving the stones to Steve and Natasha telling them that they have hope now and he put a spell on it so it could work in this universe since it came from another universe and left. Kang would then return to his own universe and would fight against none other than the Fantastic 4 themselves while another Watcher replacing Uatu arrived and would now protect the universe to prevent threats like Ultron from ever returning again…
                                                                                  THE END!
And that is going to be ¿What if Ultron killed the Guardians of the Multiverse in the first season finale of What if. Secret Cameo of WandaVision
Paul Bettany basically said in an interview that there would be “fireworks” between him and the cameo, it would be a game changer, and it is someone he has always wanted to work with, implying he never has before. Elizabeth Olsen said it would rival Luke Skywalker in Mandalorian, so it has to be fan service-y.
Evan Peters as Pietro/Peter Maximoff/Quicksilver: it was confirmed the cameo has not shown up yet. So not him.
Ian McKellan as Erik Lensherr/Magneto: no; has worked with Paul before.
Michael Fassbender as Erik Lensherr/Magneto: has not worked with Paul, would be a game changer, and could easily be antagonistic towards Vision. but might not be fanservicey enough. so maybe not.
Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier: unless I am wrong about working with Paul, checks all boxes. except I don’t see how he could be antagonistic towards Vision
James McAvoy as Charles Xavier: look to Patrick Stewart. Also, might not be as fan servicey as Patrick.
Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange: idk how the 2 could get in a fight, but it would prob be bec Vision would defend Wanda. Game changer possibly because this could also be start of multiverse. Has never had a scene with Paul, I don’t think. And even if he has, they never have in the MCU, which could be big to Paul. Wanda is confirmed for Doctor Strange 2. idk if it rivals Luke though.
Gabriel Luna as Robbie Reyes/Ghost Rider: game changing, confirms Mephisto exists and reaffirms the existence of Agents of SHIELD. Will make more fans watch it once it streams on D+. also sets up more mystical/horror stuff (doctor strange 2 and blade could benefit from that). I don’t think he’s worked with Paul before. Dude fought literally everyone he met in AoS, i would not be surprised if he fought Vision, even if only a little bit. He could also attempt to bring Vision back to the realm of the dead, where he belongs. He could be there to stop Agatha and Mephisto since that’s pretty characteristic of the Ghost Riders. Also the Darkhold may have been in Ep 7 and last we saw Robbie, he was hiding the Darkhold so that would be a good reason to put him in. But very few people watching WandaVision have seen AoS so this cant rival Luke.
Nicholas Cage as Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider: doesn’t tie in AoS, but does much of what Gabriel Luna would. And ties in multiverse. But idk if it’s fan servicy enough. And he worked with Paul before.
Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson: I’M NOT CAUGHT UP ONLY UP TO SEASON FOUR DO NOT TELL ME IF HE DIES OR ANYTHING. like i said, love to see AoS tied in. would break the internet. everyone loves coulson. AoS fans would be screaming, and everyone who thought he’s been dead since avengers would be screaming. and convinces more people to watch aos. I would pay to see Coulson deck Hayward. but yeah, fan service ablaze. could potentially be game changing since it reintroduces SHIELD and himself and brings Inhumans into more light, something lacking in most of the MCU. Clark and Paul were in IM1 and Avengers together, but never together (Paul was only Jarvis, and Jarvis never spoke while Coulson was in the room w/ Tony and Pepper). I would kill for Coulson to be the cameo.
John Krasinski as Reed Richards/Mr Fantastic: would be game changing, introducing Fantastic 4. I don’t believe they’ve worked together before. Would possibly break internet btw Fantastic 4 and Krasinski being awesome. But...I really don’t think they should introduce him in WandaVision. I think it should be later.
Tom Hiddleston as Loki: Ep 7′s commercial confirmed the use of the word Nexus in the MCU. In the comics, Nexus Beings had some control over the multiverse. Wanda was one of them. They were watched over by the TVA. And wouldn’t you know, Loki appears to be working with the TVA in his series. Fan service galore because he’s frickin Loki. While they have been in Avengers 1 and 3 together, they didn’t share scenes, so they haven’t worked together. Would be a game changer, enforcing the Nexus stuff.
RN i want either Coulson or Loki, but who knows? I really don’t know what will happen

Tumblr media
Featuring special guest Patton Oswalt.
Tumblr media
There’s a Daring Do Convention and Rainbow Dash is going! Twilight can’t because she has to help with a Friendship Summit in Griffonstone (and they need the help). This convention is special since A. K. Yearling is making a rare appearance. Dash tries to downplay it since they know A. K. personally and her secret, but when she gets there she’s as excited as I am. And she meets a kindred spirit in Quibble Pants. Quibble Pants is voiced by Patton Oswalt. I was first introduced to him via his bit on the Christmas Shoes and I’ve been a fan since.
Tumblr media
He’s also a nerd so he has been in various stuff. Kim Possible, Justice League Action, Agents of SHIELD. He’s even cameoed in Web Series like Honest Trailers’ 2020 and College Humor’s Batman vs. The Penguin. And apparently on Twitter he mentioned an interest in MLP and was eventually asked to be on it. His character is a superfan on the same level as Rainbow Dash, so excited about being there. But like Star Wars fans with the new Trilogy, he doesn’t like the new stuff. This conflicts with Dash who does like the later books.
Tumblr media
Quibbles' beef is that the original books were clever and witty while the new ones are more action set pieces. Dash wants to blurt out they’re all true but promises to keep the secret (which is hard to do when their journal gets published). She goes to see A. K. to complain about Quibble but that’s when Daring Do revealed why she’s there: she has the Amulet of Culiacan and Caballeron is looking for her and it. But being in a convention she’s surrounded by security and if things get tricky she can blend in as a cosplayer.
Tumblr media
With this news, Dash goes on to look for Caballeron but instead runs into Quibble. He’s questioning Rainbow Dash’s sanity for believing Caballeron is real when the two get captured. Quibble doesn’t believe this is real and is a “Daring Do Experience” and when it comes to the intelligent side of things (tricking the goons with a fake noise and unlocking an unpickable lock), he’s terrible in the Physical side. In fact, Dash gets a point across that their life daring exploit was something that was like in the book.
Tumblr media
Despite that, Quibble still thinks this is fake when Caballeron captures them again. But when an actual creature comes out of nowhere, that’s when he realizes everything is real. They would have been dead if it wasn’t for Daring Do. Quibble is shocked to know that the books are true and is definitely worried since this is a legit life and death situation. But when they get to a puzzle, the Quibble Pants that wanted to criticize the newer books shines as he solves it when Daring Do fails.
Tumblr media
They got the treasure, escaped the temple, and gave Caballeron his comeuppance. So heading back, while Quibble still admits he doesn’t like the new books he thinks it's okay because you can like the same thing for your own reasons. He likes the clever and witty, Dash likes the Action and Excitement. At the end of the day, they’re fans of an awesome series and that’s all that matters. It ends with Quibble pitching himself writing the next book. Overall, a fun episode. Patton Oswalt is definitely one of my favorite guest stars and he is great. And it shows the fun of going to a convention.

Captain America: Civil War - My Thoughts
I know this is like 5 years late but for this, I’d like to resurrect a barely dead discourse that succeeded in not just dividing the Avengers but also dividing the fandom. Before we start, content warning for spoilers and let’s dive into this mess.
So, basically, the entire conflict of civil war stemmed from General Thaddeus Ross (who is a hypocritical dick, btw) coming to lecture the Avengers on being destructive despite conducting destructive experiments (ahem, the Abomination and the Hulk) but I digress. Then, Ross presents the Sokovian Accords which is really lengthy and we see Steve reading like a few chapters(?). Now, let us note that the Accords were presented to the Avengers after a mission-gone-wrong killed about 11 people in Lagos (lay-gos, not lah-gos that pronunciation gave me headaches as a Nigerian).
So, the Sokovian Accords were written by 117 countries and vetted by the UN asking for the Avengers to be under oversight (which SHIELD would have done if HYDRA hadn’t infiltrated it in the first place but it is what it is). Somehow, Steve made it about “our right to choose” (how?! Cause I’m not understanding) and decided to not sign*.
*he later got back to sign, then backed out when he learnt that Tony had placed Wanda under house arrest (even though it was for her protection. I do believe Tony should have fully informed Wanda about keeping her in the Avengers’ Tower)
My issues with the plot of Civil War are:
1. The Sokovian Accords were not read out loud or placed on some kind of PowerPoint slide for the audience to understand why Team Cap is against the Accords. No, the fandom wiki is not a source because that one is from Agents of SHIELD and not a lot of MCU fans are familiar with that show (yours sincerely included). Assuming the contents were read out loud or discussed by the Avengers, I’d have understood why Team Cap refused to sign the accords but since none of that was given, I’d remain Team Iron Man for this one.
2. The Sokovian Accords is not the American Constitution. Then again, the MCU fandom tends to be American-centric and most Americans seem to have this belief that the world revolves around them (and it manifests itself in Civil War discourse).
3. Contrary to popular opinion, the Sokovian Accords were about 117 (mostly third-world) countries asserting their sovereignty and boundaries, not taking away rights from the Avengers. If we go by what the MCU wiki claims about the accords, yes, some parts are absurd (like asking for blood samples and using trackers, why are those necessary?). However, when 117 countries state that they want you to respect their boundaries, I think it is best to comply. Unfortunately, respecting boundaries is one thing the USA has a problem complying with and guess who happens to represent America?
4. The Accords affected only their hero lives, not their lives as a civilian. I doubt the UN would limit the Avengers’ movements as civilians
5. Let us not forget how Steve and Clint protect Wanda from accountability and responsibility. Wanda in the MCU is like y/n in many fanfics where everyone (except for the “big bad villain” who in this case is Tony and 117 countries) seems to love her and want to protect her from facing the consequences of her actions. Anyone *ahem Tony* who has a bit of problem with her is suddenly the enemy. Not to mention how Wanda seems to have a knack for causing destruction in African countries (Johannesburg, Lagos, Wakanda)
6. And fandom behaviour from the Team Cap stans
7. Also, why is Civil War not an Avengers part 3? It’s better than making it a Captain America trilogy and then trying to frame Steve as being right.
8. I do believe that the accords were sped up which left little time for the Avengers to discuss and compromise on certain issues. If they were given more time to discuss, compromise and negotiate, I think the movie would have ended better than it had.
9. In addition, I also agree with Team Cap stans on how the UN arbitrarily deciding to shoot Bucky on sight is a human right violation.
10. “The safest hands are our own” why does this sound like a white saviour talk point from Steve? The accords is about 117 countries wanting you to respect their boundaries and the best you can come up with to refute that is saying something a white saviour would say?
11. “Even if the whole world is telling you to move...” just shut the fuck up, this is no way comparable to 117 countries trying to assert their sovereignty.
12. Look if I have to choose between surrendering a few rights as a hero and just dismissing that of civilians as potential damage, I’d go with the former because the people whom I’m suppose to protect come first. For me to dismiss their deaths as “we can’t save em all” is just not it.
13. “She’s just a kid”, a few years later and I still hate that term. One, it’s infantilizing an adult white woman (something white men have historically done and we all know how that went) . Two, while Tony was obviously wrong for not informing Wanda about her house arrest, he was right to keep her in the Tower when they were people who would harm her with every chance they could find. **
** after watching WandaVision, some people might find every reason to want to harm her.
14. Let us also discuss the motivation of those in Team Iron Man vs Team Cap
Team Iron Man
Tony: feels guilty for the events of Age of Ultron, believes that he’s stepped out of line and the Avengers need oversight.
Natasha: believes that the Avengers should listen to the public and the UN after all, if they had one hand on the wheel, they can still steer.
Vision: believes that the Avengers as a whole bring challenge which brings conflict and then catastrophe.
Rhodey: a soldier; believes in following orders especially when it is from the UN and 117 countries.
T’Challa: dude is just there to kill Bucky. I’m sure if Bucky was on team Ironman, my guy would have joined team cap, lmao 😂.
Spider-Man: not really there for a reason except to bring in Steve to Ross. I do agree that Tony shouldn’t have dragged him to the fight without Peter making an informed decision.
Team Cap
Steve: didn’t want to sign because it takes away his “right to choose”. Idk what that means or how it is relevant to the Sokovian Accords but okay. However, I understand his mistrust considering a few movies ago, we found out HYDRA had infiltrated SHIELD and as much as I believe governments are corrupt and the UN is shit, you cannot just enter a country anyhow without warning ahead of time.
Bucky: was his motivation given? I mean, I believe he joined Steve’s side to stop Zeno from unleashing the other winter soldiers. Not that that’s a bad reason, it isn’t.
Sam: again, I don’t think the movie gave us a reason for him being against the Accords. Did he also believe it was taking away his “right to choose”?
Wanda: undecided as of moment of discussion. Joined team cap because Tony placed her on house arrest. While I agree that Tony should have informed her that he was putting her under house arrest and stated the reasons why, I believe it was for good reasons especially when some people might decide to carry out witch hunts (you get it, witch hunts? 😅)
Clint: only joined because Wanda was placed under house arrest. We aren’t given any reason why he would oppose the Accords.
Scott: fan boy of Captain America, need I say more?
15. Also, to Team Cap stans blaming Tony Stark for Team Cap being imprisoned, grow the fuck up. The people in Team Cap are all adults who made their own decisions yet Tony is to blame for them breaking the law (because they did break the law), wtf.
16. “Are you capable of letting go of your ego for one damn second?” Like Steve’s ego didn’t play a part in all this too, lmao.
17. Okay, the final battle was intense and while I believe Bucky was also a victim, I can understand why Tony lashed out at him. The one to blame here is Steve because even if he had no clue Bucky was responsible for the Starks’ death, he still lied to Tony by not telling him who was responsible. It is more appalling to learn that Steve, in an attempt to “protect Tony and Bucky”, was actually covering for HYDRA!
Also, the way Steve stood emotionless while Tony watched a footage of his parents being killed. Yet, he could shield Wanda from watching the news because of how it affected her, okay.
“I can do this all day”, fuck you, Steve
18. Clint exploding at Tony is so fucking hilarious. Tony is right, Clint has a family yet he decided to fight in a war that didn’t concern him. Also, his comments about breaking backs is so tone deaf after Rhodey just broke his back!
19. If Sam was Captain America, I think Civil War wouldn’t have happened at all, from the dialogue in the Raft.
20. Overall, this movie is a fucking mess and I hate it for dividing both the Avengers and MCU fans.
Before I close with this, I want to add that I am not anti-Steve but Civil War really made me hate him. I get, Steve is supposed to be a Boy Scout and shit like that, but he’s a Gary Stu in the MCU, let’s be honest about it. Civil War should have been an Avengers movie, rather than a part of the Captain America trilogy. The Avengers should have been given more time than three days to discuss the Accords and make necessary amendments; after all that went down in Lagos, Wanda should have been made to sit out missions and maybe we could have had someone like Doctor Strange help in training her; Crossbones would have made a great villain but it is what it is; Peter’s introduction to the MCU could have been as him actually interning for the Stark Industries and forming a kind of acquaintance with Tony Stark before Tony finds out that he’s Spider-Man; Steve should have told Tony about HYDRA‘s hands in his parents’ deaths. Anyway, I’ll go read Civil War fix-it fanfics and fanfics where the Avengers are more like family. Fuck Civil War and I’m outta here.
Edit: okay this was a thought I had when I was trying to sleep but it was too good to ignore. Rhodey has a point about Steve arrogance (if that’s the correct term) in saying “the safest hands are our own” and here’s why:
Like he stated “this is not the World Security Council...neither is this SHIELD nor HYDRA” (paraphrased). This is the UN as well as 117 countries. Look, I am as anti-government as one can go and I don’t believe that the UN are reliable (plus, if we really want to go by the AoS version of the Accords, the Accords are flawed and they need amendments), however, given the US records on disrespecting boundaries in many third world countries, I can understand why 117 countries are wary about a bunch of superpowered Americans entering their country.
To us, the Avengers are saving the world. To these 117 countries and the people who have families who were killed in the crossfire (Zemo is a good example), the Avengers are a bunch of nuisances who leave destruction wherever they tread.
I am still neutral on the whole Accords as I don’t know exactly what it entails but for Steve to go “we are surrendering our rights to choose” (again, how is the Accords threatening the Avengers’ right to choose?) when asked to be under oversight is tone deaf.

Loki Meta Nobody Asked For, part 3--All MCU Lokis are AU fan fiction Lokis
There is so much in part 3 that I really wanted to see and I very much want to celebrate, but once again, I am conflicted.
Ok. Good things: Loki and his magic. Loki and fighting. Loki and improvisation. Loki as bisexual. Loki talking about his mother. Loki showing a moral compass.
All of these are Most Excellent Things: • Loki here is finally not a de-powered pushover. His illusions are effective. He teleports over a short distance. He resists Sylvie’s mind control. He stops a multi-ton support tower from falling and pushes it back up into place!!!! • He fights effectively--finally! Granted, his dagger misses its mark, but he was drunk, so I’ll give him a pass on that. Aside from that, he finally shows us some highly effective hand-to-hand combat skills. Thankyouverymuch for acknowledging that Loki survived a millennia of life in a warrior culture. He was raised by a warrior king. His brother is a Hero(tm). There’s no way he didn’t learn some skillz. His ineffective fighting in episode 2 can easily be attributed to the fact that he was pulling his punches when he was fighting the human shields Silvie possessed. • Loki’s character explicitly acknowledged their queerness!!!! This makes my little queer heart glow bright, and I think needs no more comment. Just . . . yesssss! • Loki loves his mom. Loki is conflicted about that relationship because They Lied To Him.  And did I mention that Loki speaks wistfully about his mother and a bit about the fact he was adopted and no one told him until he already pretty much found out (in the most awkward way ever). Even Sylvie thought that was pretty poor parenting. Good stuff. • Loki really doesn’t want to kill innocent bystanders and only attacks folks who attack him first. He is also kind of appalled to hear that the TVA workers are all variants who’ve had their minds wiped. Again, this is all excellent, and fits well with the Loki we met in Thor I who just really wanted to make sure his war-mongering brother didn’t sit on the throne until he grew up a bit, and then Everything Got Way Out of Control. • We see Smart!Loki in action, as opposed to hear Mobius flatter Loki to get him to cooperate. While one of Loki’s attempts at deception fails miserably, the other works (with Sylvie’s help). This is all excellent and made me Very Happy Indeed!
[more below the break]
I also very much liked many parts of his interactions with Sylvie, and the fact that we got a tiny bit of her backstory (and I love her insistence on her own identity--this is very much I think a Loki thing, “I am not you. I am my own thing, thank you very much”). This relationship has a great deal of potential for complexity and depth. I am totally here for enemies to frenemies to allies if that’s where the series is going.
I like the reveal that the TVA agents are all variants themselves who have been “wiped” and indoctrinated. We are finally getting more obvious hints at the insidiousness of the TVA.
So why am I still conflicted about the series? Well, here is what I did not like: • Loki’s improvisation with the old woman--he had too little information to pull off an effective scam like that and he would have known that. He had a photograph. A black and white photograph--no voice, no personality, no coloration, no body language; he didn’t even know if the picture really was one of a husband and not some other type of relation. There was no way it would ever work. He should have known that. Loki would have known that. • His voice and body language when he pretended to be a guard was stupid and unconvincing, not mimicry. That was a joke. • The getting drunk thing. I found this not only disappointing but insulting and also possibly lazy on the part of the writers. It felt completely out of character. In fact, Sylvie felt much more “Loki-ish” in this scene than Loki did. I just cannot in any universe see Loki doing anything like this under these conditions. They are undercover in a high-pressure situation in which they are about to be wiped out of existence if they fuck things up, and Loki decides to get drunk? No. This is a virtually suicidal loss of control. They have no idea how long they would be on that train or what they would have to deal with later. They have no idea what sort of security is in place on the train. Why did they even stop in a bar, of all places? Why not find a sleeper car and stay out of the way? For that matter, why not just find seats? Why would a guard be sitting in a booth at a bar with a prisoner? They wouldn’t. Loki’s sense of self-preservation is stronger than that. He’s smarter than that. It was stupid and out of character and also unnecessary--there are so many other ways they could have gotten them shoved off that train that did not involve Loki making a spectacle of himself. It was, in fact, a very Thor thing to do, not Loki-like at all. • I still feel as though Tom is over-emoting in all of the scenes that are less than life-or-death. It does not feel like the Loki I met in Thor I and The Avengers. That Loki had a length of re-bar up his spine and only genuinely smiled when he looked at Thor (when Thor was smiling).
I feel like Tom is playing two Lokis in the show--the one that fights his way out of tight spots and occasionally deals with his difficult family issues, and the other is a parody of mischief!Loki--whose face is extremely emotive and who wants to bare his soul to whomever looks vaguely as though they’ll listen to him.
So, here’s my mid-series conclusion. All MCU Lokis are fan fiction Loki’s of the comics. Among those MCu fan fics are three distinct AUs.
1. The Loki we meet in Thor I, The Avengers, and Thor II. This Loki works hard to bury his emotions. His body language is generally stiff and prickly. He is the product of growing up in a culture that is driven by a toxic masculinity and devalues those traits that are coded “feminine” such as all of those things Loki excels at. Because of this, he has gotten the message his entire life that he is with less that the Golden Child that is Thor. He loves his brother with all his soul but resents him because his father placed them in competition with one another. All of this was reinforced by growing as the “tag-along” little brother who was tolerated but not embraced by Thor’s closest friends. This Loki becomes self-destructive and suicidal, experiencing a psychotic break as a result of revelations about his adoption and internalized racism. He spends who-knows-how-long falling through the void enduring perhaps months of sensory deprivation only to be tortured and manipulated by Thanos. He emerges from that experience Truly Fucked Up, stopped of much of his power because he’s had the living shit kicked out of him. But his core self is still there somewhere--a core self that loves his brother, that craves affection, that really hates what Asgard has done to him but still has a moral compass in there somewhere that says wiping out the entire universe is a bad thing and I guess protecting helps humans is something he ought to do since his brother loves them.
2. The Loki we meet in Ragnarok and IW. This isn’t really the same guy as Loki #1. It’s a fan fiction AU in which Loki has no trauma to deal with. He is a manipulator. But he is a manipulator because he is a survivor. He does what he has to do in order to be not dead, and if he can also have some luxury while he does it, well, that’s a bonus. Theoretically, he is a powerful mage--since he was able to overcome Odin and place him in a nursing home--but we don’t see any of that on screen. He is revered Mostly Harmless by the narrative. There is no re-bar up his ass. His body language is much more loose and emotive. His characterization has been flattened out in order to serve as a narrative foil for Thor, and will be bridged in IW to serve Thor’s character development (yet another feminization of his character). Many people really enjoyed this version of Loki. But let’s be clear, he isn’t the same Loki we met in the other three movies.
3. The TVA Loki. This Loki is a new fan fiction. A third AU. This Loki is slightly closer to Loki #1 in that his characterization is a bit more complex than Loki #2. He is smarter. He is more versatile and powerful. He has a backstory that isn’t being mocked. His queerness is not being used to villain-code him. But it would be wrong to say he’s the same Loki that we saw in the first three movies. This Loki’s trauma is all family-related, which great, at least they acknowledge that.
However, he clearly is not the PTSD!Loki that we see in TDW. They have decided (at least so far) to completely ignore what happens between Thor I and The Avengers. I’m not quite sure why it’s ok to deal with trauma when it’s Bucky Barnes and Tony Stark, but not ok when it’s Loki, but this is the decision the director made, and if I want to enjoy the show, I have to be ok with that. So that’s what I’m going to do right now. The Loki show is fan fiction. It’s an AU. And it does a pretty good job at doing that.

Reckless
The Winter Solider
Master List
2014
It had been a while since you had been back to the Avengers tower. Once SHIELD got all official after the Battle of New York, they got a big fancy building in DC. You decided to keep an apartment at the tower but honestly spent most of your time now in DC. Now though, you had been forced back by Steve. All because of a broken leg. It didn’t even happen on a mission, although that might have been better. You were sparing with another agent when a mistake happened and your left leg was broken. Steve nearly took the guys head off when he heard you scream. Somehow between the pain you got Steve to focus on you. After all it wasn’t the others guy’s fault.
The doctors put you in a cast and told you to use the crutches for at least 3 months. Then they would reevaluate the leg. Steve caught you once without your crutches and set you back to New York. It forced you to take your job slower and you couldn’t do as much. Plus, Tony and Bruce kept an eye on you. After a week there, Tony broke down and figured out how to make an exoskeleton cast. This way you could get around more easily and hopefully complain less. After some trial and error, and the ok from the doctor, you had a brace. It came up around your thigh and had a plate that slid under your foot. The knee joint move freely but the ankle was locked, but could be loosened as you healed.
“Well it looks like your leg is pretty well healed agent.” It was almost three months to the day.
“Thank god.”
“I would still recommend the brace for another month but the ankle can be set to move freely.”
“Awesome. I’ll get Tony to do that.” The doctor at the tower was so much nicer than at SHIELD. Probably because they were ex-military docs. They somehow always were dicks.
“I’ll want to see you again in a month. But other than that you are free to go.” You hopped of the bed and shook the doctors hand.
“Thanks again. I appreciate you working with me.”
“You didn’t give me much of a choice.” He raised an eyebrow. To which you just shrugged your shoulders and headed out. The doctor just laughed as you walked out the door.
“Hey Jarvis. Let Tony know I’m on my way down!” It took all you had not to skip down the hall.
“Certainly Miss yln.”
As you reached the elevator you grabbed your phone to let Steve know how your leg was and maybe drop the hint about getting back to your regular work. Before you could type your message, number came up on your screen.
“Speak of the devil! I was just about to text you. I got the all clear from the doc.”
“That’s good yn.” His voices sounded off.
“What’s wrong Steve? How’d the mission go?”
“It was complicated.” He let out a sigh over the phone.
“How complicated?” Suddenly the conversation was serious. You changed the floor you were headed to, now going to your apartment.
“What do you know about something call Project Insight?”
“I’ve never heard of it.” The door to the elevator opened and you walked down the hall.
“Fury showed it to me. I need you to see if you can find anything out about it. Something doesn’t feel right.”
“Sure. Hang on a sec while I get my computer up and running.” You sat down at your desk. Setting the phone down and putting Steve on speaker. If something did sit right with him, it was trouble. You learned quick to trust Steve gut.
“Alright let’s see what I can find.” A quick search of shield records didn’t provide much.
“All I can see is that there is a file under that name but it pretty high clearance. Like Fury and a few others. What is it?” You kept click through files that you could open while listening to Steve.
“He’s got three helicarriers. At armed to the nines. He said it’s a way to neutralize threats before they happen.”
“What? So shield is building their own nuclear deterrent? How is Fury ok with that?”
“I don’t know. Can you see anything else?”
“No Steve. Not without hacking in and they would know it was me. I doubt even the people working on it know what they are building.”
“Ok. Well I’m going to have to do some more digging around here.”
“I can come down there Steve. My leg is fine.”
“No yn. Just stay there. Keep digging though files and see what you can find.”
“Ok. Be careful Steve.”
“You too sweetheart.”
You spent the rest of the night combing through any file you could get your hands on. Tony came up sometime after dinner. He was going to yell at you for not eating or coming down to have him loosen your brace. But changed his mind when he saw the mess around you on the desk. Instead he went back and grabbed you a plate. Pulling you away for only a moment so you could eat and he could take care of the brace.
“So how bad is it kiddo?”
“I don’t know Tony. The more I dig the more inaccuracies I find in all kinds of files.” You stared at the computer twirling your fork. “I think I might head down to DC.”
“Well I’ll get a jet ready for you. It’ll be on standby.” He stood from his seat and walked to the door. “And what is it the Rogers always tell you? He gave another pause and you turned to him. That’s right! Don’t do anything stupid of reckless yn.” With that he was out the door.
You took one more look at the computer before standing up and heading to the bed. If shit was about to hit the fan you at least need to get some rest.
Apparently you needed more than you thought. It was almost 8am when you finally woke up. You decided against breakfast for the moment. You checked for phone for any messages then hit the shower. After your shower, you started to pack your bag. A change of regular clothes along with your tac suit. Some toiletries and a few extras. Lastly was the fun stuff. In the hall Closet was your own mini armory. You pack your usual two pistols and a few blades. You also grabbed a couple auto injectors. Can never be to safe. While you were packing though you missed the alert on your computer. Something big was happening.
“Miss yn. You jet is ready for takeoff.”
“Thank you Jarvis.” You walked to the door and laced up your boots.
“There was also an alert that came up on your computer miss.”
“What?” You stood up and headed to your desk. Leaving your bag by the door.
Sure enough there was an alert. Nick Fury was dead and Steve was wanted by Shield.
“What the fuck!” You nearly topped your chair when you stood. Instantly grabbing for your phone to call Steve. There was no answer. Shit. Shit. Shit. You grabbed you bag and ran to the jet. Shit was hitting the fan. A lot of shit.
“Jarvis let Tony know I’m leaving.”
“Certainly.”
You flicked through your takeoff procedures and grabbed the controls.
“Jarvis try Steve again.” You shot up into the sky heading to DC.
“I’m sorry miss. He did not answer.”
“Fuck. Try Maria.” She was always close to fury. Hopefully she would know what the hell was going on.
“Hill.”
“Maria. What the fuck is going on?”
“Yn.” She paused. It sounded like she was taking to someone.
“I’m on my way to DC. Tell me what the fuck is going on.”
“Yn. I’m sending you Coordinates to land at. Do not enter DC air space.” Fuck. This was bad.
“What’s going on?”
“I’ll tell you when. You get here. Just get here.” She hung up. You pushed the engines to max speed.
You made it to the coordinates Maria gave you in almost record time. 20 minutes from her hanging up to when you touched down outside an old dam. Maria was out waiting for you.
“Tell me what the fuck is going on!” By the time you landed you were fuming. Not at anyone particularly but at the whole situation. “What happened to Fury? Where is Steve?”
“Come on in yn.” She turned to lead you into the damn. All you wanted to do was cuss and scream at her nonchalant attitude towards everything. You followed her down the damp hallways of the dam until it opened up into a small room.
“I could hear you cursing from in here yn.”
“Fury! What the fuck” He held back a laugh. “SHIELD said you were dead. How?”
“They needed to think he was actually dead but we got him out of the hospital and here for treatment.” Maria moved around the bed and started talking to one of the doctors. You took a seat next to fury.
“What is going on?”
“Shield has been compromised.”
“By who?”
“HYDRA.”
“Project insight is them.” You sat back in your seat. That would explain all the odd bits of info you had been picking up while digging through files. Fury nodded at your response. “How long?”
“I’m not sure. At this point we don’t know who to trust.”
“So why I am here? Why did you let me know you’re alive?”
“Because other than Captain Rogers, you would be the second person in line to kill anyone that might be affiliated with HYDRA.” He wasn’t wrong.
“So where is Steve now? What’s are next play?”
“Hill is working on how to get Steve. Then we stop Insight.”
Sitting around was not your style, but Fury told you to wait. Maria was on trying to track down Steve. Doctors where still working on patching up fury. All you could do was sit and wait. You knew that if Steve was running he would have ditched his cell. At this point it really wasn’t safe to call anyone else. Fury didn’t even want you call Nat. You only slipped a call to Tony to let him know you landed. He tried to press for more info but you shut him down quickly. You could hear the news playing in the background about Fury and Steve.
It was well into the night when Maria finally found something. A STRIKE team had been sent to a mall then Camp Lehigh was bombed. There was still no indication where Steve was at.
Then around mid-morning the next day more alerts started going off. Sitwell was kidnapped.
“That has to be Steve right?” You had taken up a post with Maria going through any SHIELD alerts.
“It’s a good chance. Keep digging.”
“God I should have come down here when he called me the other night.”
“There’s nothing you could have done. You would just be on the run with him.” Maria looked up at you over her computer. “And do you think Steve would want you out there or here?” You caught the smirk on her face.
“Yea yea.” You waved her off. Steve did just about anything to keep you safe. He learned quickly that your self-preservation was about as good as his.
“This is it!” She stood up quickly and spun her computer around. A STRIKE team orders to grab them on the freeway. They were helping out “the asset”.  “If I can get into one of those prisoner transports, I can get them out.” Before you could respond she was off to Fury.
“Take the team and get him.”
“Yes, sir.” She turned and started ordering the men around.
“I’m coming with you Maria.”
“No you’re not yn. I need you here.” It was an order from Fury.
“Fine.” You just watched as Maria and her team suited up.
“I don’t what you doing anything stupid out there yn.”
“I know Fury. I know.” He was right. The likelihood you would do something stupid was pretty high. All you could do now is wait.
The plan was easy enough. Steve, Sam and you each had a chip to place into the helicarriers. Linking them and taking them out of the air. Nat and Fury would take down SHIELD. Exposing everything to the world. Steve was on edge even though he didn’t show it.
“I want you to get on and off that helicarrier quick. Don’t mess around.”
“Steve I’m fine. If it’s about the leg, it’s ok.”
“Yn. It won’t take much for you to rebreak it.”
“Yep. And it doesn’t take much to break my other bones either.” You teased and jogged off to your starting point.
“Yn I’m serious.” He said over comms. You just laughed to yourself and continued on.
The guys gave you a head start. You listened to Steve talk over the intercom. People that you passed looking nervously between each other. Once you reached you carrier, it was mostly unguarded for the moment. Steve drawing the attention away from it for the moment. Just a few bad guys to take down. Suddenly the door above the carrier began to open.
“Uh, guys they are getting ready to launch.”
“Get that chip in place and get back to Maria yn.” You rolled your eyes at Steve even though he couldn’t see you.
You pushed harder to get to the control center to get your chip in place. Thankfully it seemed most people hadn’t quite realized you were already on the ship. Outside you could see that Sam and Steve were drawing the most attention.
“I got my chip in place. How are you guys doing?” Getting out was going to be a bit more difficult.
“I’m locked.” Sam shouted.
“Two down. Captain how are you looking?” Maria was running the ground.
“Working on it.”
“Steve where are you? I’m coming to you.” You started working your way to the flight deck.
“Yn get back to Maria. I got this.”
“Oh fuck you Steve.”  You heard Sam laugh.
“I like her.” That earned a groan from Steve.
“Since you like me so much want to give a lift Sam?” You kept working your way to the deck. First plan was to grab a jet and head to Steve. You just had to get up there.
“6 minutes until it reached altitude.”
“Sam! Where is that ride!”
“I’m grounded. Steve’s on the carrier.”
“What happened!”
“Winter Solider.”
“Shit.” You pushed off from where you were hiding. Steve told you that somehow that was Bucky. That whatever happened to him when he was captured during the war must have helped him survive the fall. You knew Steve would be blinded by his friend. Even if he didn’t recognize him.
“Steve you copy? I’m on my way.” No response.
“Falcon. I got Rumlow.” Maria broke in.
“I’m on it.”
“Maria can you get into one of these jets and get it started for me?” You kept clearing a path.
“Space five. Staring engines now.” The jet just ahead of you roared to life and the hatch opened.
“I could kiss you girl!” You climbed in and headed to the last carrier.
By the time you reached the control center Steve and the Solider were already locked. You took aim and started firing at the Solider. It caused just enough distraction for him that Steve was able to lock him in a hold.
“Yn.” He hissed over the comms.
“Just get me that chip Steve!” Steve shoved the Solider off of him and started toward you. Climbing up the structure.
“Steve!” The Solider was back up an aiming at Steve. He tossed the chip at you. You barely got your fingers on it, leaning every part of your body over the railing. A shot rang out.
“Go yn!” Steve kept climbing as you rushed to the computer. More shots were fired. This time they hit you. First in your leg.
“Yn!”
“I got it Steve!”
“One minute!” Maria shouted over comms. This was it you just had to reach- Another shot. It hits you in the shoulder propelling you forward. You slam into the control center. Pressing the keys as fast as you could the door slid open. Just as you reached to put your chip in another shot hit your stomach. You fell before you could get the chip placed.
“Damnit.” Steve had reached you. He grabbed the chip from you and slammed it home. “We’re locked.”
“Get out of there guys.”
Steve reached down to scoop you up when he was shot in the shoulder.
“Maria. Fire.”
“Yn.” Maria questioned you.
“I said fire!” You shouted. Steve didn’t have words to say. Suddenly there was an explosion.
“Why?”
“Steve.” You gave him a sad look. He dug in you suit to find an injector. Quickly stabbing it into your arm.
“That was stupid.”
“So is this.” You pushed him off of you. “Where is the Solider?” Steve looked around. When he stopped you followed his eye line. The Solider was trapped under a large piece of metal from the carrier. “Go.”
Steve looked back to you.
“Go Steve.” You reached into your pocket and grabbed another injector. Slamming that one into your thigh. Steve nodded.
“Here.” He handed you the shield. The carrier started to tip. A quick glance saw that it was colliding with the building.
“Stupid and reckless.” You gave him a grin then stood the best you could. At the railing you gave a look down. There was a break in the glass directly below you and water beyond that.
“Get your friend Steve.” Before he could question you, you heaved yourself over the railing and out the bottom of the ship.
You used the shield to help break the water as you hit it. It still nearly took all the air out of you. Once you bobbed back to the surface you looked back up. The building seemed to have caught the carrier and it just sat there. The extra injector gave you enough strength to slowly swim to the edge of the water.
“Where’s Steve and yn!” Your comms still worked!
“I’m in the water under the ship! I’m trying to get to shore. Steve’s still on the carrier.”
“I’ll get a vehicle and get her Fury.”
“Copy that Hill.”
You just have to get to the edge before that carrier comes down. Pushing your muscles as they ached. The pain meds quickly wearing off even with the extra dose. You glanced back. Shit. The carrier was coming down. You didn’t know if you were clear but you hoped you were. Maybe the wave it caused would give you the extra push to the shore.
