First off, its safe to say he adores the ground you walk on. He's in love with everything about you, your clothes, the smell of your hair, your sickly sweet voice. his loves it all.

If there was ever a problem you needed fixing, a person you needed taken care of or even a errand you needed to run he would tend to it himself. he would not let you lift a finger.

PDA is a iffy thing for him, he wouldnt do grand big gestures but maybe a hand on the hip or a few words of affirmation.

everyone in the pride ring quickly learned of yours and radio demon's relationship. And no one dared to mess with you, ofcourse there was people who wanted to test their luck but they would have to pay the price later.

Angel is one of, if not, the horniest mother fuckers out there but somehow, he manages to somewhat make a healthy relationship with someone.

Despite his harsh tone and uncompromising demeanor, you understood that Husk wasn't trying to be malicious towards you. You and Husk's time together was mostly spent at the bar. You didn't like to drink much, but you loved seeing him work and make cocktails like a pro. You didn't mind that it wasn't considered a typical date, because you liked spending time with him in whatever way he felt most comfortable.

Despite the difficulty, you were able to help Husk realize that you genuinely cared about him. He had been used to being surrounded by dishonesty and hypocrisy, but you were always sincere and real. He held you in high regard, as you were the only source of light in his life, and he didn't want to lose you.

You were known as a strong and independent person who didn't need assistance from others. You knew how to stand up for yourself, despite being harsh and tough at times. Despite your exterior, no one was aware of the soft spot in your heart that Vox's affection and touch alone could melt away your severity.

He appreciated seeing your affectionate side, as it felt special and intimate, like a shared secret between the two of you. He knew you valued your privacy, and he respected it by never sharing photos or other details on social media. He didn't want to betray your trust.

You were often feared and respected when you were with Vox. People found it hard to believe that someone as intimidating as yourself could have a tender, caring side that was kept hidden from most. Vox was glad that he was the only one who got to see that side of you. He didn't want to share something so special and personal with anyone else.

Quite often, he would call you on the phone, knowing that sweet words could be just as effective as a kiss. synopsis: nagi has a nice life. its peaceful and he needn't work too hard, just like he likes it. sometimes, though, every once in a while, he sits around with his regrets thinking about what maybe could have been.

notes: i tried to write angst but it didnt rly work lolol

nagi is, for the most part, pretty content with his life.

its kind of a no-think-just-do kind of thing, which he quite enjoys. he goes to his 9-5 office job, comes back, tends to choki, eats dinner, plays games for a few hours, and goes to bed. then, the cycle repeats. its basic, sure, but there's nothing wrong with that.

except that there's, well, everything wrong with that.

now, don't get him wrong. he's grateful for his relatively leisurely life and enjoys the slow pace. he's a lazy guy, after all. a life full of action and emotion just wouldnt be very him.

but still, every so often, nagi will find himself wondering, daydreaming, thinking, about what maybe could have been.

about what maybe could have been if he decided to go pro with isagi and reo and chigiri and them. maybe then, he could be rich and famous. his mind could be surpassing limits and soaring to new heights. he could be a renowned soccer player like that.. noel no.. something.. guy? the really good one on tv that chigiri was talking about. he could be an inspiration to millions!

nah, nagi doesnt need wealth nor fame. hes fine with the humble lifestyle he leads. plus, part of the reason he enjoys said lifestyle is because he doesnt need to do much thinking. his brain can just relax and be lazy. in some ways, its better this way. thinking is such a hassle!

but then, he thinks about what maybe could have been if he'd tried harder in school. he could be working a high-paying job and could be living in a house. choki could have a family and he'd be able to spend more freely. think of all the games he could buy that he cant afford on his corporate salary.

again, nah. he still did pretty well in school without much effort. a corporate job may not be fancy, but its good work. plus, what would he even be doing with a house? his apartment has all the space he needs, and choki's thriving on his own! he doesnt need cactus friends. plus, having to care for a house and more cactuses would be such a hassle. not to mention the work you have to put in for a higher-paying job.

but sometimes, he thinks about what maybe could have been if he kept in touch with his friends from blue lock. he could still have late-night talks with chigiri, and spend quality time at the park with isagi. then, he could actually hangout with people. reo's away pretty often, so they dont hang much.

once more, nah! nagi's plenty happy with choki, reo, and the coworkers that hes become friendly with. he's an introvert, after all. too many friends would become too exhausting, and it would zap the peacefulness out of his peaceful life. even being with reo is a hassle sometimes.

all of it is a hassle. he's fine with the way everything turned out, really.

but afterwards, once he's lying in his bed, trying to submit to slumber, he finds himself really, really thinking about what maybe could have been.

about what maybe could have been if he hadn't decided that you, too, were a hassle.

about what maybe, just maybe, could have been if he picked up your phone calls every time, even when he was gaming. about what maybe could have been if he took time out of his day for you and only you. about what maybe could have been if he said 'i love you' more, and comforted and reassured you. about what maybe could have been if he valued you. treasured you. treated you right.

about what maybe could've been if he'd done all of it right. then maybe, just maybe, he could be playing the match of his life right now, with you cheering him on in the sidelines, crying out his name, waiting to go home to a place you deserve to be with a whole choki family.

about what maybe could've been if he just didnt declare it all to be a hassle, and maybe he could've touched the stars.

but for now, nagi sleeps. he has to go to his 9-5 tomorrow, after all.

Lemme have a bit of a rant about how much I love kokolight and their dynamic. (SPOILERS SO DONT READ UNLESS YOU FINISHED THE GAME)

I really like how both of them find comfort in not only the nocturnal detective agency but also chief yakou. In chapter 4 when they have to face the truth together that their chief was the culprit was really interesting because of how they interpreted it differently. Like how Yuma didn’t acknowledge that it was the chief who killed dr huesca because he wasn’t ready to accept the truth but vivia knew and tried convincing Yuma to give up on finding the truth so the chief could have a chance at living but despite all his efforts, Yuma persevered through his own and vivias reluctance because no matter how hard the truth might be it would still be better than living a lie.

I felt like that built up such a connection between them because of that hardship that they went through together. They both cared dearly for this place that their home and didn’t want yakou to go because it wouldnt be the same without him

I wonder how kokolight would work at the end of the game as well. Here would be how I would interpret it: With the reveal that Yuma was actually number one all along, I feel like vivia would find a bit more respect in him, and not just because he’s number one, but because of his passion for finding the truth in every mystery. I feel like then vivia would have more understanding in yumas ambitions. I also think it’d be bittersweet to vivia that yuma was number one since yuma isn’t even his real name and the detective trainee that he met was an identity made only to solve the mystery of Kanai ward. After all that the agency went through together, they still didn’t know all that there was to yuma. And with how yuma disappeared in the end, that must be difficult for all of them. Vivia and everyone else would be unknowing to Yumas whereabouts. I liked how Yuma quit the WDO to pursue his own desires of solving mysteries and making other people happy. I would hope that vivia and yuma might encounter each other somewhere in the world while doing a job. Or maybe not. Bittersweet ending always have a kick to them that’s just the right amount of hopeful and angsty.

Maybe I’ll make some relationship head canons for them sometime 🤔 although I don't think that theyd be in a actual relationship in the main game even as a "what if they were canon", I still wanna imagine what it would be like for them to date. So look out for that in the future I suppose 🤭

Also I love how this was originally gonna be a sweet little post of my art but I turned it into my thoughts on this ship. Remember this is just a personal ship and is not to be taken too seriously. the most we know is from the base game stuff, his men and everything, but we never get to meet him- and now ... it undermines the whole festival, i felt like it was sorrowful goodbye and attempt to grant him an honorable death- that made me fall for him in the end, the lore around that and the whole build up and vibe of it, it felt so genuine but now you cant feel that, bc you know .... either way he will be suffering, let him rot for all eternity being a threat to friend and foe alike, as this mindless monster chowing away at corpses like a beast when he used to be a powerful respected general

or kill him but instead of giving him the death he wanted his soul is instead grafted into a meat puppet by his half brother so he can be controlled and made to agree to marry him despite rejecting it in life (as far as i understood it, he definitely did reject it though bc otherwise malenia wouldnt have tried to assassinate him to get him delivered over)-

so theres no good answer and im left wondering, did his men know of that? im gonna guess no, bc the whole point of the festival was to bring him HONOR when there was nothing of his honor left, of him left, and theres no honor in being turned into a literal marionette for your half brothers sick play

you could call it tragic, and it is, but it feels so much more ..... like just wanting to violate him even in death, just because he hasnt suffered enough, lets make it even more horrible just for sufferings sake (like i get it, i like when my favs also get to suffer, what happened to him in the base game was a part of why i love him so much- but theres a limit to that imo) it takes away from so much of the festival and everything, you are not taking part in one last final battle so Radahn can die fighting, you are handing his soul over to his half brother that wants to use him like a puppet, LITERALLY, to make a mockery of his memory, make him do things he would never have if he was himself, i cant think of anything more horrible to do to him

and his people are utterly convinced they are doing right by him, when the rot was probably better than what miquella would do to him, as horrible as that was.. and if they WERE aware then wow ....... i guess miquella really had everyone on his side huh uwu, like that sucks even more, so none of them ever felt and cared about him or were all also brainwashed YIPPIIIE

(not to mention how much interesting miquella lore gets twisted into actually he was just a scheming little creep and everyone that followed him was quite literlally brainwashed- i know the whole bewitching thing is like, his thing, but MAN- it feels like whoops it was all a dream and it never actually happened when its done bad)

-when the two of you are at the restaurant he always offers you food and places it somewhere on your plate so you can eat it whenever. while you manually feed him whenever you offer him food, and you'll sometimes put whatever food you don't like on his plate so he could eat it (if he wants to ofc)

-I feel like he would take you to random places Mitsuri told him about. (he went to her for some advice since he does not know what to do) he would happily take you to a crowded area if you like excitement or anything with a lot of people nearby. If you prefer something quiet, he'd also be happy to do that.

-if the two of you were to go to a noisy, crowded place he would calmly stick by your side all the time and keep an eye out for you, he wants you to stay safe, especially in a big crowd. he'll just always wrap his arm around yours and calmly walk with you. even though big crowds are not his thing he'll do it just for you <3 if the two of you are in the shopping district be ready for him to buy you stuff. however, if the two of you were at a festival of sorts you would be the one winning the prizes. (I don't really see him being all that good at festival games)

-Senjuro manages to convince you and Rengoku to stay for longer. and at this point you just end up cooking dinner for them, which you dont mind. and you guys, except Rengokus father happily eat at the table happily spending time together. and after a while you guys tuck Senjuro in bed and go on with your little date!

-he would take you to a cute little festival a nearby village is holding. he would try to win you prizes and he would cheer you on if you were trying to win something for him. he would love to eat festival food with you, he would say his cute little "UMAI, UMAI, UMAI"'s when the two of you are eating. AAA- he would pull you close as the two of you watch the mini firework show they had. and when you mutter how beautiful they are he would say, "Yes! The fireworks are extremely beautiful! But not as much as you!" (AAAA- I LOVE HIM)

-he apologizes for not getting to spend enough time with you but you reassure him telling him that you had the time of you life and absolutely loved meeting his family, even his father. and that you wouldnt mind doing it again

-when the two of you are out together eating random street food you find that looks good he of course shares with you, he'll give you like a singular bite before he eats it all 💀. and when it comes to buying something that looks good to him he'll be like "Y/N look over there!" then snatch like half of the food on your plate. and when you turn around you tell him, "You know, you could've just asked-" he ends up feeling bad so he lets you have some more of his food.

-while at the arcade he would get so competitive with random kids that are around 😭, but he would also have fun with them too, winning them prizes and stuff, he'd kinda be like a competitive older brother. he'll also win you a lot of things to, you see a stuffed animal from your favorite show? he's already won it for you. and you already know hes winning every single game the arcade has. it got so bad that the two of you were kicked out because of that.

-if the two of you ever went to the zoo or the aquarium he would be giggling every second the two of you are there. he would run and drag you around and point at random animals and say how cool they look. he would also point out how certain animals reminds him of his students 💀 "Hey Y/N! Those hedgehogs kinda look like Yuji and Megumi don't they??" "That fish totally looks like Nobara don't you think?"

-being on a date with him is so much fun, he always acts so silly wherever the two of you go, which you don't mind. dates with him will never be boring, and definitely lots of laughter. others are jealous of the two of you because of how much fun you guys are having (and because you're with Gojo)

-he would definitely take you to an elegant expensive dinner date. he wants to make sure you get the best of the best when it comes to dinner, and just anything that involves you in general, like clothes, jewelry, etc. but if you don't feel comfortable in such crowded spaces he'll arrange something just as elegant for the two of you.

-he would also definitely take you to the aquarium after the two of you eat, or he'll just take you in general since he heard that a lot of people take their significant others to the aquarium for dates. (Gojo also told him about that but he didn't listen to him only until he was sure people do take their partners to the aquarium for dates 💀)

-he would follow you around as you explore the many different areas of the aquarium. the two of you would be hand in hand as the two of you walk around and when you stop to observe a specific area he'll wrap his arm around you and pull you in right beside him. he would also share random facts about whatever sea animal the two of you are looking at. he loves looking at your face when you stare in amazement at the jellyfish (or any other animal) throught the glass.

-he would also let you buy any of the souvenirs that the gift shop has. a jellyfish hat, those giant whale shark plushy's, glass cups with fish painted on, anything. he'd honestly buy you the whole store if you'd let him. after a long day of him treating you, you'd buy him matching jellyfish key chains as a thank you (or any other sea animal- i absolutely love jellyfish so that was the first thing i chose-) this automatically makes him smile and his heart melts.

-overall the date would be very classy, elegant (because he is a classy man) , and of course with some fun at the end. the two of you enjoyed enjoyed both locations (the aquarium was preferred) because they were quiet, yet fun at the same time, and because you got to spend time with each other.

Was stuck in a day dream today about kid fics.

The hotel gang all being in lucifers elixer room when a potion falls and coats certain people.

Side a i was thinking about charlie and husker getting hit with the elixer and turning into toddlers. Angel imidiatly picks up husker and starts caring for him. Poor toddler had a hang over and was crying. His crying made Charlie cry. Both Vaggie and Lucifer struggled to get her to stop. After a few magic tricks charlie stopped but she was reluctent to stay still. Wiggling out if their hold and running around. Husker on the other hand was a biter and liked to break stuff.

Alastor loved watching the chaos till husker dragged him into it. Throwing his food at Alastor and Alastor making him cry with his fury. When ever husker cried charlie would to. And she wouldnt stop. Eventually Angel got involved and craddled her as he craddled Husker. Taking over and feeding the two, giving them a bath then lett lucifer have his daughter back. But lucifer wanted to be there for charlie and took his fustrations of her not liking him out on Angel. As they argued husker snuck into Alastors room. Climbing on his couch and throwing a book at him. Alastor was ready to hurt him when he remembered husker was a child. He then materilized a bed and started putting husker to bed. Sitting with him to read him a story. Angel came in after his argument. He sat down and they both ignored lucifer yelling about loosing charlie. A moment later charlie showed up and curled up in Angels arms. Calling him the fluff. The three passed out in Alastors bed and he relcutently settled down with them. After that Angel and Alastor took care of the two while lucifer made a reversal potion.

Side b angel gets hit with the elixor and the room begins to argue about whos taking care of him. In the chaos Angel slips out of the room. Running away. Once the crew settles charlie asks Alastor if hed watch angel and he agress, so long as theu find him. And theu all realize hes gone missing. Charlie and vaggie go looking for him as they send husker back to the hotel incase he shows up there. But its Alastor who finds angel, in an alley about to be torn apart by souls.

He tells abgel to fallow him and Angel curls up in the alley stating 'no one wants me. They were all fighting. Who has to take care of me. No one ill take care of myself' angel yells as he fights back tears. Alastor kneels to him offering a hand. Telling angel he'll take care of him. Angel accepts and they go back to the hotel. Charlie is in tears and vaggie is glad hes ok. But despite charlie being attentive angel is glued to alastors hip. Cooking with him. Sitting with him in silence. Even hovering by his door when its bed time. He plays all his games around Alastor and narraritos somw truely imaginitive stuff. Often making Alastor the prince, or pirate love interest whos not really a love interest.

Husker who gets ropped into all the games makes a joke that little angel has a crush on Alastor and angel gets so emberessed he runs and hides. When theu find him hes physically upset at husker for outing him. Alastor cringes and states angel is much to young and he has to know that. But Angel questions what about his real self. god. kieran. kieran is so refreshing from a character perspective. kieran is like the anti-hop. it kind of feels like he’s the protagonist and we’re the classic jerk rival, doesn’t it? this guy clearly has Issues and i really like that, im enjoying this sort of “why can’t i beat you” rival trope that gamefreak’s been doing lately. they nearly did it with hop but with kieran they’re really going full in. the character arc that kieran went through in this dlc was actually difficult for me to watch, seeing this poor boy destroy himself mentally. the first time i battled him for the final time i actually lost, and i was hoping that he would get to keep ogerpon because altho shes cute and i adore her, i felt so bad. but ofc thats not the way the cookie crumbles. kieran is socially awkward, he doesn’t know how to communicate, and he’s never had a true friend. then florian/juliana comes along and suddenly there’s someone who seems to genuinely enjoy hanging out with him that isn’t, yknow, related to him. but then that person that he was so eager to trust goes along and begins befriending and helping a pokemon that hes adored all your life behind his back. i relate to kieran a lot and ofc yknow the absolute maniac arc hes about to go through is probably not healthy but i rlly hope this ends up being good for him. he idolized ogerpon because of how he related to her story, not because of the actual living creature she is. i wouldnt be surprised if it turns out he doesnt value his pokemon as actual living creatures either. i could see him being like a reverse silver, as he grows colder growing to not even care about his pokemon.

on the other hand, carmine! carmine was such a delight, i was genuinely not expecting to enjoy her as much as i did. sure, she also has Issues and has probably been a negative effect on her brother, but at the end of the day she is also just a kid. she probably has no idea what shes doing, and i dont think shed ever hurt kieran. she went through a lot of growth in the dlc and i can see her trying to become a better person with the help of florian/juliana and repairing her odd relationship with kieran.

also, it seems like she kind of has to play a parental role for kieran, as its implied that their parents arent around. thats another thing that separates kieran and carmine from siblings like hop and leon (and oh my god im just realizing all the parallels between hop and leon and kieran and carmine). its implied that the galar bros had a good childhood, and hops Issues dont start until hes set off on his journey and leon is a full adult with an actual life. with the kitakami siblings, if you read between the lines you can tell that theyve had a harder time growing up. with carmines comments on tourism and how it’s negatively effected their town and give her Trust Issues, that obviously fucked them both up a little, seeing that people only valued their hometown as an attraction, and that they themselves were a part of that attraction. and of course we dont know what the issue was with their parents. also, why are they going to school in unova? (side not oh my god it is so obvious that we’re going to get bw remakes in gen 9 or a legends unova game)

kitakami is such an interesting region. obviously its tiny, it has one town and then everything else is just untamed land. i feel like something Else is going on here. or maybe its just small idk

i love ogerpon a lot i think shes adorable and i love that we got to run around with her before she joined our team and it makes the whole “ten year old catches legendary thing” feel more realistic

also why are ogerpon and the loyal three legendaries i feel like they should be mythicals them being legendary feels Wrong

anyways these were my silly thoughts on the dlc and i hope kieran turns out to be the bb leagues champion (pulling a blue) and also i dont trust briar now time to finish my pokedex and talk to legends arceus pandering i mean perrin and if i see anyone call carmine a terrible person i will trade away your ev trained competitive team ok bye

Drabble- Sin!Lucifer's attitude towards the Hotel

The night before Charlie is due to make her TV appearance on 666 News, she stops by to have a word with her father about it.

Needless to say, the King of hell isn't too impressed with the idea of his daughter trying to turn Sinners into Winners.

One thing he can get on board with though, is challenging heaven and it's authority.

“Charlie, dear, don't you think this has gone far enough?” Lucifer sighed, leaning on his cane as he eyed up his deluded daughter, and what little she'd done to this hotel to ‘improve’ it. 

She still hadn't fully come into her power, which only made her attempts even more sad to witness. “I let you play hotel, tried to let you realise on your own that all of this is foolish but-”

“-It's not some silly game, dad! I truly believe that sinners can change.” She cut him off, insistent and angry. He was surprised her horns weren't showing yet. “They can be better. Cleanse themselves of their sins and make it out! Isn't that worth a shot? To save their souls?”

“I gave them freewill, Charlie. I gave them every chance to do the right thing, and they chose to sin and earn a place in my domain instead. The fact that they aren't barging down the door at a chance of redemption only proves my point.” He pointed out, taking a seat on the arm of the sofa.

“We do have a patron.” Charlie pointed out defensively, crossing her arms and giving a very half hearted glare. “And I'm sure once I do the interview tomorrow, on the news, more people will show up. We just… haven't reached the right people yet.”

“I can't believe you're actually going through with the interview.” Lucifer pinched between his eyes, annoyed, but holding himself back from saying something ugly. Charlie was young, and naive. He needed to be a good parent and let her make her own mistakes. But it was so hard to not shut her down right now and save her, and him, the embarrassment of announcing her naivety to the public.

“Everyone will see this place as a joke.” He tried to explain to her. “Why would a sinner even want to go to heaven? With all those rules and strict conditions? We've made Hell such a comfortable place for them. I provide them everything they could ever want and more. Sinners love to sin, it's literally in their name.”

“Mom thought-”

“-You're mother was soft!” He snapped, harsher than he meant to, but his ex wife was a sore spot that he didn't like thinking about. “Lilith was human. She understood better than either of us how Sinners think. But in the end, all she cared about was being Queen. If she gave a shit about any soul in Hell… If she gave a shit about us, then where is she now?” His hand clenched tightly on his cane, his eyes flicking away from Charlie, briefly landing on the family portrait, before landing safely on a stain in the ratty old carpet. 

Taking a deep breath, he forced himself to calm down and be reasonable about all this. Despite her foolishness, he did love his daughter, and wanted her to explore her dreams. He wouldnt make her feel like he'd been made to feel by the other seraphim

“You were born here Charlie. You don't know any difference. You believe the lie they sell to humans. That it's worth its weight in gold, and what people should strive to be worthy of.” His voice softened slightly, looking back up at her, rising up from his seat to place a hand on her shoulder. “I'm sorry, princess. I love that you care so much, really I do. It's sweet that you think you want what's best for our people.”

It really was endearing how much she cared. If she had more confidence and drive, or was willing to put some actual power and ruthlessness behind her empathy, she could be a force to be reckoned with someday. “But remember, I was from Heaven. And it's... It's not the perfect paradise that you've been led to think. We lose so many sinners because of their massacre. Why would you want to send our people into the arms of the same monsters who kill hundreds every year?” 

“That's different!” Charlie snapped, but the way she hugged herself showed it was more because she was upset than angry. “Exterminations happen because of overpopulation. Not all Angels are like that… You weren't. Plus, if they go to heaven, there won't be as much of an issue down here...”

“I was the exception, sweetie, not the rule. But, maybe you're right. Maybe they've ‘changed’ and will suddenly open the pearly gates, to allow in people who've committed murder and sexual deviancy.” Lucifer couldn't help the little laugh at the absurdity. “The fact remains. That our people don't want to change.”

“I've got to try, dad! I'll do whatever it takes to save our people from being slaughtered like animals. Just because they've made mistakes, it doesn't mean they deserve to suffer. To be killed like they don't matter!”

“I know honey, believe me, I know. I hate the exterminations as much as you do. But Heaven. They're not the forgiving kind.” Lucifer sighed, knowing that first hand more than anyone. “I won't try to stop you from doing this. I just want you to know that I'll be here for you, whatever happens tomorrow. I'll be here for you.” He bites his tongue from saying ‘When you fail’. “If you want to reach out to me.”

“Thanks dad.” Charlie sighed, sounding resigned, seeming to deflate a bit. Maybe she knew exactly what he'd left unsaid. “I'll keep that in mind.” 

“Hey. We might not always agree. But you know I love you, right, Char Char?” He asked, reaching up to cup her cheek, his thumb tracing the rosey cheek circles she’d inherited from him. 

Charlie gave a gentle smile, but it didn't bring the sparkle to her eyes that he loved to see so much. “I know Dad. I love you too. I just wish you could see the dream I have for our people.”

“I can see it perfectly clear. Once upon a time it was my dream too.” He huffed, pulling back his hand, to hold hers instead, looking up at her with a much more genuine smile. “I lost that dream a long time ago. Now I improve sinners' lives in a very different way. But, despite what it seems, I want you to prove me wrong. I want you to be strong enough to do what I couldn't do.”

“Really?” Charlie didn't sound sure. Not completely convinced that her dad wanted her to even try.

“Really.” He assured her, giving her a wide toothy grin, his eyes gaining a familiar hint of mischief. “You're my daughter. After all, It's been awhile since a morningstar challenged heaven directly.” He let go of her hand, and took another look at the rundown hotel around them. “This ‘hotel’ is your project, and I may not be on board with it, or your methods. But when it comes to heaven and the exterminations, I will be more than happy to help in every way that I can. I'll protect you and your right to dream, with every ounce of angelic power in my possession.”

Charlie stared at Lucifer with slightly wide eyes, being able to hear the genuine pride in his voice. Her father might be the embodiment of pride, but she wasn't often the inspiration for that pride. Her expression broke into a wide grin, before she lunged forwards to pull the shorter man into a tight hug. “Thanks dad. You have no idea how much that means to me.”

“I have an idea kiddo.” Lucifer wrapped his arms tightly around her, raising up on his tiptoes to be able to hug her more comfortably. “No matter what happens tomorrow. I need you to promise me that you will keep on fighting.”

“I promise dad. I'm going to make you proud” 

“You already do Charlie.”

i hate mainstream appeal, or at least an extreme and intentional amount of it. actually, hate isnt a strong enough word. despise. absolutely fucking despise.

so many companies just do not care for experimentation, and whenever they do the experimentation is barely anything. i see this in so much stuff, in how cgi and specifically certain styles of cgi has taken over cinema to the point where the few 2d animated films, especially the western 2d animated films, just dont do as well, even when they're popular IPs, because cgi has become standard. it aint an animated film if it aint cgi.

and not just cgi, but a very specific style of cgi. you see it in everything. it started with toy story, when toy story did it, it was great. it was original. it was actually trying something new. but then they kept doing it, and then every studio joined in when they realized it was cheaper. not just cgi but a specific style of cgi, not necessarily even the cheapest style, just a very mainstream one. i see it in encanto, in turning red, in inside out. dont get me wrong, i dont think this style is bad or that these movies dont still have unique aspects of their style, but you cant deny the similarities, and more importantly, the reason for those similarities, that being a need to appeal to the mainstream.

and it's annoying, and it bleeds into the story too, into the characters. they never pass a certain boundary, trying to stay firmly away from controversy, within the confines of family friendliness and a mainstream understanding of concepts. and this is restricting in some serious ways. to clarify, i do not want them to swear, i do not even want them to show blood or a whole lot that would get labelled as too mature for children. i just want them to not shy away from vaguely controversial things, to not be afraid of issues beyond a mainstream understanding, and to not cater to such a simplistic and common worldview so dramatically.

one of the things that makes stories, and media in general, so special to me, is their unique perspectives. i see this a lot in indie projects, and the contrast between them and big budget hollywood films is startling. i get a feel for such unique individual perspectives in indie projects, even the bad ones, and i guess that's what happens when the team is smaller or it's mostly only one person working on the project, because we're all unique, im sure even the individuals who make up the mainstream audience have unique perspectives, but that just doesn't come across in these larger films, or games, or anything really. anything disney, or nintendo.

and sure, you could say this is just because it's a smaller team. and im sure that's a contributing reason, no doubt. but the thing is, the contrast in worldviews between some of the more personalized large projects and the things curated to the tastes of the masses. take gravity falls for instance, a disney IP, but not one considered enough to bother curating at the time, just a show, not a film at the cinema. the style of cringe comedy it has, the way it tells stories and reveals mysteries, the absurdist view on the world it has, sure, it has a lot of people behind it, but a unique perspective on the world comes across well. the same with something like spiderverse, which is a big budget film, but damn did they know what they were doing.

and the unique perspectives disney films have on the world? well, they're there. there is kind of a difference, but it's barely as drastic. you can tell it was kept within tight confines, unwilling to present anything that the mainstream wouldnt easily comprehend, agree with, or find appealing.

and that's just so infuriatingly limiting. you can say it makes sense because the kind of person this is appealing to is like, the most common kind of person. that fact probably even plays a part in why these movies and other things are like this to begin with, though certainly not the only reason.

but do you not think the common person deserves more? deserves to be presented with things outside of their understanding? or comfort? i dont just interact with media that fits my own beliefs and perspective, yknow. because i think it's quite a good thing to do that.

i just, ughhhh. the mainstream bugs me so much. i dont even think a lot of these things are necessarily bad. encanto had good songs, inside out 2 dealt with issues of anxiety well within the limitations of mass appeal, turning red actually mentioned periods which was a small and good step outside the usual boundaries. but they just, they rub me the wrong way, yknow. they all do. most of the big live action hollywood movies too. same with many kinds of games, especially nintendo games. i just hate it, it's so limiting on our media, it's why i mostly just go with independent stuff, because that way i can see more unique individual styles, ideas, etc.

and yknow what? i do actually think they should maybe show a bit of blood on screen for these movies sometimes. and go beyond the concept of family friendliness. because all that stuff is a load of rubbish in my eyes. beliefs that got too out of hand and have so much wrong with them. yeah, i think we should pass those boundaries for big media meant for the mainstream. not with everything, but definitely with a lot of things.

this was just a random rant about something i hate that i wrote in one take, dont nitpick with any details you think im not 100% correct on please. this isn't supposed to be a perfect critique of mainstream media, this is just me venting. okay?

Gale's Countdown: Best to Worst, Ramona's Evil Exes (Scott Pilgrim)

The Rules:

I will be covering ALL mediums Comic, movie, video game and even Show

When I say Best, I mean in which their actions are the least Egregious, they are entertaining, and they are more palatable, The lower on the list the worse they are

I must view them by their most detestable actions, as determined by either medium

This is a subjective list based on my opinion, so feel free to put your thoughts and opinions on the list.

Spoilers for the Comic, the Show, the Movie and the Video game

The Best Ex: Roxie Richter

Roxie is probably the Evil Ex that is probably on the best terms with Ramona in all iteration (save the movie). Roxie was seen occasionally hanging out with Ramona in the comic, and while the Half Ninja did try to kill Ramona and Scott, its clear her reasons for being an Evil Ex are pretty justified. Ramona's dismissive nature of their relationship as a "Phase" and her leaving without a word was pretty damn heartbreaking.

And while she claims to be the most Emotionally intelligent, she has just as much trouble explaining her feelings as the other Exes do. But In Scott Pilgrim takes off we see her at her core and she just needed some damn closure. Which compared to the rest of the people on the list, she is the most justified.

The Second Best Ex: Mathew Patel

Okay so for a guy that only dated Ramona briefly in middle school and being a super petty Theater nerd... he isnt actually that Evil.

Yea he tries to play up his evil side, but he is actually a really polite dude. He sent Scott a warning about how the Evil Exes were going to attack him, and even took time to ensure Scott understood what was going on instead of just attacking him.

Sure in the Comic, Game and Movie we dont get much of his character, but in the Anime. We find out how after he won, he realized that the League was stupid and decided to Challenge Gideon after realizing this whole thing wouldnt actually win Ramona over. He eventually moves on with his life not even pursuing Ramona further, he rightfully Blames Gideon for his stupid assumptions and even BEATS GIDEON. Now Mathew is still a selfish jerk, but he is oddly not hostile towards Ramona and simply moves on with his life after this. Guess he just needed some self confidence to know his own worth was more than just the first guy to get defeated.

The Third best Ex: Lucas Lee

Bad boy skateboarder/ Action star. Lucas Lee.

In the Anime he is just kind of a Himbo that seems more angry with Todd than Ramona over how the relationship ended. In the movie and Comic he is not really caring much about the League and just decided to fight because why not. The comic has him at his worst which he simply says if Scott pays him 50 bucks he will simply leave him alone.

In this context he really hasnt done anything to Ramona and actually in the movie version asks how shes been casually. Regardless of the version Lucas never seemed to have any real negative views on Ramona. And He is arguably interchangable with Mathew, I do Put him lower because Lucas never called out how dumb the League actually was unlike Patel.

The Fourth Best/Fourth Worst Ex: Kyle & Ken Katayanag

I put them to share these rankings because they are interchangeable. No matter the story they both are always grouped together. The worst thing they did was Kidnap Kim and send robots to Attack Scott, but regardless of the version they arent outright hostile to Ramona but do blame the cheating fiasco on her. They are usually pretty chill outside of that and thats honestly the worst they get, they are just only sort of Asses but that is about it. They have a cool Robot though.

The Third Worst Ex: Todd Ingram

Ah Yes, the first Big Ex of Ramona's. They Dated throughout Highschool and then broke off when he left for Vegan School. He is probably the most Vanilla Scumbag, but he is actually even worse because he is Vegan and believes he is better than everyone else. And the Psychic powers that come with being Vegan... well He might have a point. But he is constantly cheating on his Girlfriend. And in the Show he ends up cheating and catches feelings for Wallace (who I am CONVINCED has a +7 Charisma boost) or Magic balls.

Anyway, regardless of iteration he is a serial cheater whether its in love, in a fight, or even on his Vegan Diet. He is also willing to punch girls for no reason other than they are annoying him. He punched the highlights out of Knives hair in most iterations, its f***ed up.

The Second Worst Ex: Scott Pilgrim (Specifically Even Older Scott)

Ramona once said that Scott was an evil ex just waiting to happen. but in the anime we actually get to see what that would be like. Take all of Scotts worst qualities, He dated a high schooler (no he didnt do anything but STILL), he cheated on girls, he would hide things from people, he wouldnt take responsibility for his own faults. And now have it where he is able to beat the Exes and get Ramona WITHOUT all of the emotional growth that let him realize he was an absolute Scumbag and needed to change.

In this timeline, Scott ended up separating from Ramona after a Rough patch, which lead to him trying to stop himself from ever dating Ramona by pulling him out of time to convince himself, but when that failed he trained for 10 YEARS gained the powers and Skills of ALL the Evil Exes then decided to fight EVERYONE in order to stop Scott From dating Ramona. Its arguable that he is probably the worst because he was more than willing to wipe out his own friend if needed just to achieve his goal. Showing how Tunnel vision Scott can be. In a way, Even Older Scott is Nega Scott fully realized. And is Ramona's most Dangerous Ex

The Worst Ex Gideon Gordon Graves

If anyone has read the Comic, Gideon is by far the Worst of the Evil Exes. Sure Scott of that other timeline maybe the most powerful, this Emotionally abusive prick is far and away the worst.

He created Emotional warfare to manipulate people, including Ramona. Messed with peoples memories, Was Physically and Emotionally abusive, His grand master plan was to gain complete control of the Glow, brain wash people, have Ramona get frozen and become one of his frozen Exes that he pulls out of stasis to Date whenever he gets board, (basically a sex slave)

The Anime REALLY cuts a lot of this out and makes him much less then he is, and the movie only has a control collar on Ramona where he is still an asshole control freak.

But the Comic REALLY goes out of the way where he is like Scott but at his ABSOLUTE WORST in every category.

Power maybe debated but when it comes to EVIL ex. there is no topping Gideon

how would you make fallout better

i mean idk if i have a good way to Save Da Franchise but what i would ideally like for a new game is for Bethesda to 1) break out of the mould they set in 3 + 4, and 2) focus more on making side quests meaningful and in some way thematically intertwined with the main quest.

i think personally if i were to create a sequel my first dictation would be for it to be a territory we flat out haven't seen before and know nothing about, or that has only been featured in a non-canonical spinoff. the north east coast like washington state, somewhere southern like texas, a far northern region like Minnesota. somewhere where there's a drastically different environment and that isn't already affected by established history. that way you can actually build up some new and inspired ideas and i think if you do choose somewhere with a very different biome you can come up with great new monster ideas too, as well as consider new ways that societies could be rebuilt.

i think one of the biggest demands from the fans i agree with is a protagonist who is not a vault dweller. i don't care about this as much, but having a more blank slate character that is given a higher level of customizability is also something i think would be a real mixup for the franchise at this stage

bethesda's last two games have been very heavy on 1) family dynamics for instant drama and 2) the story idea set out in the van buren game docs, which i think at this point is completely tapped out. to me what fallout needs more than anything at this stage is new ideas. my ideal new sequel wouldn't have any of the usual factions in any major capacity (and definitely no BoS), it wouldnt rely on supermutants, it wouldnt be that heavily focused on vaults or vault-tec.

i think that a huge issue fallout 4 had was that it was incredibly set on one way of play and i think after the recent successes of stuff like baldurs gate, disco elysium, and other big indie RPGs, people are responding to that less than ever as you can judge by the lack of success of starfield. fallout 4 was really bad for having any skills or perks other than charisma matter, and they really need to take a serious look at how players interact with the game and what players today are enjoying.

a big issue i had with fallout 4 as well was the reliance on repeating radiant quests that felt very unrewarding and didn't move the story forward. i also felt like there was a clear lack of thought about actually carrying out the philosophical questions of the story... it was a ridiculously complicated narrative for very little payoff and very little creative vision... they would be better off just focusing on a dramatic story that plays with the political goals of different factions and their impact on humanity, which is what i think the best fallout games are about! fallout is about war and fallout 4 was like weirdly about like... espionage? and not even good.

ok. ummm. the other thing that it should have is you should have a ghoul companion you can fuck who is actually sexy and not cringe this time.
