Too many Binghe haters jumping into the askbox so I'm here to represent Binghe lovers.

Luo Binghe is a fun, interesting character who suffers a lot from shallow readings. Which is ironic considering the main source of tension in his relationship with Shen Qingqiu, the MC - who is originally a reader of the novel in which Luo Binghe is the protagonist - is that Shen Qingqiu keeps reading him shallowly / expecting him to act according to some or other character archetype, and thus misses that Binghe is a complex person with his own rich inner world. Basically it's meta-commentary on how readers do a disservice to characters by oversimplifying them to just a few traits and/or their role in the story (SVSSS in general is super meta) but unfortunately not a few ppl read the novel and fell into those same trappings ^^"

It also doesn't help that Shen Qingqiu is an unreliable af narrator, which leads to some people insisting that Luo Binghe forced him into a relationship or is manipulating him or w/e... This is about a guy who waxes poetics about Luo Binghe's unparalleled beauty every time he lays eyes on him. Like cmon, he just has a lot of internalized homophobia and shame to work through, give him a break!! And the so-called 'manipulation' is half the time Luo Binghe looking vaguely disappointed and Shen Qingqiu going "wow! I cannot believe the most beautiful man in the world whom i love so much that i died for him twice and whom im dating is making me have sex with him! Luo Binghe sure is a master of emotional manipulation!" and other half the time Luo Binghe super obviously whining for attention which - canonically, its in the text - makes it easier for Shen Qingqiu to be honest with him.

But enough salt; reasons why Binghe is a top blorbo go:

The narrative (which btw is a real force in this world) is trying to make him into an iron-fist Ruler Of Everything but his greatest aspiration in life is to be a househusband.

Was supposed to be a protagonist of an uber-straight harem novel but threw heterosexuality out the window within 3 interactions with MC. 

His love language is cooking! It's adorable but it'll also hurt u. (Binghe kept making three meals a day for Shen Qingqiu during the five years the latter was dead :) )

A big part of his arc is about learning to be vulnerable and show his sensitive side. (In general, one of the novel's major themes is toxic masculinity and how it harms ppl; I just particularly like how its explored with Binghe.)

A Good Boy (has been going through a corruption arc for 2/3rds of the novel yet it still took a cursed sword controlling his mind for him to start acting like the OG) 

Lotsa delicious fridge horror around him being the narrative's favorite chew toy. Things only ever get worse for him and reality will warp itself to deny him a chance to heal while the story is in progress, because he has a Role and that role is ‘a villainous protagonist’.

But also u get to cry about how he was saved in the end by the power of just one reader loving him and wanting better for him. (SVSSS is also a love letter to fandom/fanworks okay :] ) 

Very powerful but also a nervous wreck. Tripped and fell flat on his face when proposing to his boyfriend.

Just in general him being clingy and whiny and a mess is mega cute (me 🤝 Shen Qingqiu) 

This makes for a great contrast with him being a super OP nigh-unkillable demon lord btw. He could drown the world in blood but he's too busy crying Ghibli tears in his man’s lap. 

Also I need to mention he's extremely funny about being nigh-unkillable too. Like, *gets injured* Shen Qingqiu: "We can have sex once u r better 😔" Luo Binghe: *popping broken limbs back into place*: "I'm better! :D" 

Has a praise kink AND a masochistic streak. Apparently when Shen Qingqiu praises him and pats his head it's exciting, but when Shen Qingqiu scolds him and hits him that's also exciting. 

Has the peak character design detail in the form of a demon mark on his forehead. Built-in kissies target 🥰 Also when fanartists draw it in different shapes to represent his mood? Absolutely delightful 100/10 no notes <3

I was raised christian but personally with the brand of christianity i was raised with they felt so incompatible i gave up and just have the sweet sweet trauma left. i don't think there's any brand of christian church that's compatible (if there's any, love that for them) i mean i was raised eastern european orthodox which is like the deluxe gay trauma starterpack in my opinion....so like as an answer no i actually genuinely don't have any trouble with my sexuality and faith but others have big trouble and it's been a constant internal fight all my life to live my life despite it. to be honest, the only constant in my life that has truly helped me through the worst of my life was my faith in god, and it was my shield against the people who were threatening me with what they called god. also i just wanted to say, faith is more like working out: as in it gets stronger the more you work on it, and it's not one thing to be achieved but more like a lifestyle to sustain. not only that but it's not an unmoving, lifeless thing but a constant conversation with god. it's just always keeping god a part in all that you do, talking to god all the time, no matter that it's in the bathroom or in the shower or whenever. i just slowly learned how to treat god like my friend that's always there. and just like working out, it's hard in the beginning and you can get tired and feel the need to take 'breaks' which can look like 'giving up' but as long as you still think about god and have a place for god in your heart it's not over. and at the end of the day nobody has any say over your life except for god, and as you keep the faith this is a truth that not only you will become more aware of, but you will become so comfortable in its certainty that hateful voices will only sting but ultimately won't hurt you. when people try to argue you out of existence they always use a dead faith- misattributed quotes and dogma, rotten and self serving ways of thinking they hold above god. when you let god into your heart you'll start to physically feel how far they are and be repulsed by it, which is why i genuinely avoid these people as much as i can- i have actually slowly cut off my family from my life for this and surprise: it only helped lol. and faith IS hard, actually faith is the hardest thing you will ever do as a human in this life, so obviously there's going to be loads of pain in the process....but by being completely chased out of these communities i coincidentally learned how to build a more honest faith and meet god for myself instead of getting low budget, second hand dogma from priests with x and y titles- stuff that would have never benefitted me anyway. i dont think god causes suffering but he does try his best to use it anyway for us to grow and get closer to god. it takes time to become more comfortable...i mean it took me basically all my life and especially these past 3 years. and i also had my low moments....but at the end of the day who am i to let these people take my god from me right? i will simply never let them because it's not right, and because god wants me, and he wants all of us who have been oppressed, and wants us to succeed and will help us, but we have to ask for it first. so yeah uh in conclusion: dont let the haters win LOL let them stay mad and keep doing your own thing

Is there any reason why Jaime said he never cared much about innocent (or otherwise) lives? Like... I get the bad writing claim. But this is so, so, so awful, soooo obviously OOC, and has absolutely no lead-up. He was going to single-handedly charge Dany (while she was on Drogon) because... She was burning food? And people were terrified and he saw Aerys 2.0 in her. They were soldiers, yes (but he cared about their lives!! They were his men, they might not have been non-combatants or innocents, but he still tried to save their lives!) But also the FOOD would have helped feed King's Landing. Something Cersei doesn't care about (as we can tell from how she immediately spirited the money away. The food was burned, but all the Tyrell gold made it to King's Landing) but imo Jaime does. He cares about these people. He killed the King he had sworn to protect because he was going to explode the whole place. Cersei wasn't in King's Landing at the time - even way back before any character development, he was saving innocent lives and Cersei didn't factor into it. Charging Dany/Drogon during the loot train battle? That was him trying to save lives (that were not Cersei).

And even further into season 7/eps 1-3 of season 8, he develops even more!! Brienne of "Fuck Loyalty" Tarth reminds him of the millions of people in westeros that will join the army of the dead, and when Cersei immediately breaks her promise to join forces, he just walks out of there (yes! Here he is saving other's lives [which isn't new for him] but he's now doing it in direct opposition to Cersei's desires.)

Before, most of the people he saved didn't effect Cersei. Cersei didn't really have a vested interest in the population of KL and whether they survived Aerys (and she never does lol), but he cared enough to save them. And he would do bad things for Cersei back then - pre-series Jaime cared about Cersei first, and innocent lives second. U just need to look at the whole pushing-little-boys-out-of-windows thing to know he used to do terrible things for Cersei.

And at the end of season 7, he's doing good things in spite of Cersei. He goes on a journey where his priorities shift. He's moving past this toxic relationship. He chooses being good (ie Brienne), and his entire arc sets that up. He fights (Jaime, who used to be one of the best swordsman in Westeros but is now a CRIPPLE without his swordhand) by the side of Brienne for the living. In direct opposition to Cersei's stated goals/desires.

In that scene where Dany is putting him on trial (im paraphrasing because I'm literally just typing this as it comes to me) he says he did terrible things for his family (for Cersei), but now he's here to fight for the living. For other, non-Lannister, non-Cersei people.

And that perfectly summarizes his arc. And that is why I'm so confused about his line where he "doesn't care much about innocent lives"

It's so obviously not true for him. And what was the point of that line, then? Why did the writers put it there? His entire life story is pretty much about two things: Cersei, and innocent people. And as the story progresses, he begins to move past their relationship, where it's holding him back.

So why tf does he say this? To Tyrion, no less? Who just was telling Jaime about how he's the only one that treated him like a person (see: JAIME CARES ABOUT INNOCENTS). And then Jaime says he doesn't care about them? And is going back to Cersei? Who literally sent Bronn to kill him? Who nearly ordered the Mountain to kill him when he ditched her at the end of season 7? Who basically said "fuck everyone idc if they all are killed by ice zombies"

Like... Wtf dude. Idk what happened. Maybe it's a faceless man. Maybe Bran is possessing him?? But Jaime Lannister is the KINGSLAYER, hater of all tyrannical megalomaniacs and elemental forces threatening life as we know it. And he goes into the red keep to save Cersei's life? Or die with her? How does that help the innocent when Dany is literally raining fire on the entire civilian population of King's Landing?

This is more than bad writing or being OOC, I swear. It's not possible to be this OOC on accident, not when there are probably dozens of people who see and comment on the scripts as they're in development. And I want to know why.

MAJOR TINFOIL AHEAD (I'm v sleep deprived so this is gonna make no sense. And as a theory it's... V out there. But it's what I've been thinking about all day)

(((my pet theory: Bran is actually the big bad of the season. He's the one who told Sam to tell Jon his parentage, which spikes Dany's paranoia. He's the one who tells Sansa and Arya Jon's true name. And he does it off-screen? Why? And does it have anything to do with why Sansa later tells Tyrion? Who then tells Varys who goes on to try to get Jon crowned? Why did the Night King mark Bran? He's the memory of the world, yes, but he's also ~kind of~ a person. And people have flaws. Remember that stuff in season 1 or 2, about the nature of power, where Varys and Littlefinger talk about a king, a rich man, a priest, and a sellsword. Where Littlefinger and Cersei square up "power is power" "knowledge is power." Being the 3 eyed Raven is unlimited knowledge. And with knowledge comes power. Maybe the Night King isn't an enemy to the living, but an enemy to the three-eyed raven. And with the NK out of the way, Bran is going for world domination or something. And so he starts with starting Dany's descent into madness (or whatever u want to call it) via the knowledge of Jon's parentage. And somehow, Jaime plays a key role??? He's gotta get him out of the way, so he sends him back to Cersei (who is probs gonna die because Dany). And the major OOC-ness is the writers dropping hints.))))

Anyways the tinfoil is over. I just need Jaime's arc to make sense. His actions and words at the end of 4/in 5 make no sense. There's gotta be something to this. It's not even a regression, it's straight up a betrayal of everything Jaime has ever stood for in regards to protecting the innocent. And he's lying to Tyrion. We, as the audience, know why he's the Kingslayer. And I'm gonna point out (again) that he was the Kingslayer even before any character development happened.

Jaime has always cared about innocents (even if sometimes he betrayed his own internal moral compass for Cersei). It's a flat out lie to say he doesn't. And post character development, I think it's pretty easy to say that innocent lives definitely rank higher than Cersei now.

1. The ‘reward’ of every Temple Mount rioter: 4,500 shekels a month

A Turkish organization funded partially by the Turkish government invested in a project intended to bring 500 thousand Israeli Arabs to the Al-Aqsa Mosque “to protect it against Israeli invasion and the threat of its destruction,” according to an investigation by Israel Hayom.

The journalist Nadav Shragai reported that an organization called “Mirasimiz” (“Our Heritage,” – ed.) organized mass transportation to the Old City of Jerusalem, allotting 11.5 million shekels for this purpose. The transportation project was to have continued for many months, and the organization obtained 11 buses and hired dozens of additional buses every week to execute the project.

Among those transported by the organization were the agressive men’s group “Mourabitoun” and women’s group “Murabitat,” under the auspices of the northern branch of the Islamic Movement in Israel, who later became illegal after they created riots on the Temple Mount, cursing and attempting to threaten and disrupt Jewish visits to the site.

The program included many schools from the Arab sector in Israel, and the organization also made sure to distribute water and food costing 7.5 million shekels to those it was transporting to the Temple Mount.

The Shin Bet discovered that, in exchange for their presence on the Temple Mount and their harassment of Jewish visitors to the site, each one of the Mourabitoun and Murabitat received a monthly salary of 4,500 shekels a month.

Mirasimiz, according to Israel Hayom, also deals with the buying, fixing, and maintaining buildings in the Old City of Jerusalem near the Temple Mount.

The leader of the organization speaks in the style of Turkish President Erdogan, and envisions a future revival of Jerusalem in the spirit of the Ottoman heritage. He said that international law in Jerusalem is Ottoman law, and Turkey has a right to get involved in Jerusalem because the city is the inheritance of the Ottomans.

2. ‘Incitement against IDF enlistment is occurring under our noses’

Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked called on Israel’s attorney general Avichai Mandelblit to open a criminal investigation against “Bladna,” an Israeli-Arab non-profit organization that she says incites Druze youth against IDF enlistment.

“Incitement against IDF enlistment is not only a violation of the law, but harms the cultural fabric and ethos of Israeli society,” said Shaked. “It is inconceivable that this illegal activity occurs under our noses and with the backing of elected officials.”

Shaked’s statement came in response to a report released by the Zionist organization Im Tirtzu, which claimed that Bladna’s anti-enlistment activities were in violation of the law because they targeted Druze youth who are required to serve in the IDF.

According to the report, Arab members of Knesset including Joint List head Ayman Odeh have publicly supported the organization and have participated in their events at recent as April 2017. The report also notes that Bladna’s donors include the US-based New Israel Fund and the European Union, which donated nearly 2,000,000 NIS to the group in 2015.

Druze members of Knesset also responded to the report.

“I am proud of the members of the Druze community who enlist in the IDF and sanctify the ‘blood covenant’ that exists between the Druze community and the State of Israel,” said Minister of Communications Ayoub Kara.

“I will not allow for any organization, whether political or extra-parliamentary, to harm the unique and strong social fabric created over the years by inciting against IDF enlistment.”

Yisrael Beiteinu MK Hamad Amar, Deputy Speaker of the Knesset, pointed to the high percentage of Druze enlistment, calling their loyalty to the state “unquestionable.”

“Not Bladna nor any other organization will be able to uproot the deep and strong connection between the Druze community and the State of Israel,” said Amar.

Kulanu MK Akram Hasson also responded to the report by requesting the non-profit registrar to disband Blanda. “They will not succeed in stoking the flames of quarrel between brothers,” said Hasson.

Chairman of the Subcommittee for Personnel in the IDF, MK Amir Ohana (Likud), announced his intention to convene an emergency committee session to discuss the findings of the report.

“We cannot allow for the haters of Israel to harm the IDF and its soldiers,” said Ohana. “These despicable individuals are trying to discourage IDF enlistment of the Druze community, which includes the best of our warriors and heroes.”

Im Tirtzu CEO Matan Peleg emphasized how the New Israel Fund and European governments are trying to “brainwash” Arab youth against integrating in Israeli society.

“It is inconceivable that anti-Israel incitement can penetrate unhindered into Israeli schools,” said Peleg. “It is important to note how the ones to suffer the most are the Arab youth who are being brainwashed to oppose the society in which they live.”

“We are calling on the Attorney General to open an investigation against this foreign agent organization, for both inciting the Druze sector against IDF enlistment and for engaging in seditious activity by calling on an entire population of society to oppose the state.”

3. Parents of sick children begin hunger strike

Parents of cancer-stricken children at the Hadassah Ein Karem hospital in Jerusalem will open a hunger strike today (Sunday) in the hospital tent set up for the purpose in the Sacher Park in the city.

“We are starting a hunger strike because we have completely lost faith in the health system. We feel that all these players are not telling the truth,” one of the children’s parents wrote on his Facebook page.

The hunger strike comes on the background of the collapse of the “Rivlin outline” to solve the Hadassah Hospital crisis.

At the end of the week it became clear that both Hadassah Hospital management and the resigning doctors were not willing to accept the plan, which would mainly restore the situation in the department to its original predicament.

The doctors made it clear that they would not agree to any negotiations that were not sponsored by the High Court of Justice, while the hospital made it clear that it would agree to return the doctors to the department, but that the new director appointed to the department would remain in his position in any case.

4. 3 Arabs indicted for attacking Jew wrapped in tallit

An investigation by Jerusalem police led to the arrest of 3 minors who have been indicted for attacking a Jew wrapped in a tallit (prayer shawl) as he left Shabbat morning prayers last week.

The police investigation came about after a Jewish man praying last Shabbat at the synagogue at the tomb of Shimon Hatzaddik in Jerusalem made his way by foot from the synagogue, wrapped in his tallit.

According to the investigation, as the Jew passed 3 Arab youth, the youth turned around, took rocks, and started to throw them at the Jew’s back. The Jewish man started to run, and the youth escaped the scene.

Police working in the area noticed the Jewish man running; they approached him and immediately began searches in the area for the suspects.

A short time later, the Arab youth were located.

The suspects, identified as two brothers and their cousin, all from eastern Jerusalem, were arrested and brought in for investigation on suspicion of an attack under severe circumstances with racist motives and an attack causing tangible harm.

On Friday the prosecution submitted an indictment against the three and their arrest was extended.

Police said that, although the investigation is in its initial stages, it is clear that the attack was perpetrated with nationalistic motive only because the Jewish man was wrapped in a tallit.

“The distribution of forces around Jerusalem and their non-stop alertness around the city led to the discerning and arrest of the suspects within a short time. Israeli Police will not allow any agent to attack a man just because he has a different religion. Offenses with nationalistic motive are treated with great severity, and police will act with a forceful hand against the suspects, against whom the full force of the law will be employed,” police said.

5. ‘What if Elor Azariya’s name was Dean Issacharoff?’

Jewish Home Chairman Naftali Bennett addressed this morning the attack of radical leftist organizations on the decision to investigate “Breaking the Silence” Spokesman Dean Issacharoff, after he claimed to have brutally beaten innocent Arabs during his IDF service.

“A radical leftist from ‘Breaking the Silence’ comes and asserts that he committed terrible war crimes against innocent Arabs. Why, exactly, should an investigation not be opened against him?” Bennett asked. “And if Elor Azariya was named ‘Dean Issacharoff’ and was a member of ‘Breaking the Silence,’ would he also be immune from investigation?”

On Friday, the state prosecutor announced that Issacharoff had been called in for questioning, following the exposure of a video, taken at a Breaking the Silence convention, in which Issacharoff is seen claiming that he violently beat a Palestinian Arab for no justifiable operational reason.

The prosecution emphasized that the decision to call in Issacharoff for questioning came at the request of the Chief Military Prosecutor and those of several officials, including Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked.

6. Bolivia’s leader calls Chile the ‘Israel of South America’

Bolivian President Evo Morales called Chile the “Israel of South America” in condemning the expulsion of nine Bolivian officials on Wednesday.

The officials were detained in Chile after being accused of smuggling, theft and illegal possession of weapons. They are to be expelled from the country within the next 30 days.

Lashing out at Chile, Morales on Friday called the expulsion a “civil death” sentence and compared Chile’s actions with Israel’s in the Middle East, according to HispanTV.

“Chile is the Israel of South America: It imposes political walls, invisible and mental; Gives civil death to our 9 compatriots,” Morales wrote in his Twitter account.

Morales was one of Israel’s fiercest critics during 2014’s Operation Protective Edge, when Bolivia declared Israel a “terrorist state.” The country also canceled a 30-year-old agreement enabling Israelis to visit Bolivia without visas.

In another message, Morales compared Chile’s government to that of US President Donald Trump.

“Trump sets up walls and discriminates against migrants looking for a better future; Chile sentenced to civil death those who pursue contraband,” he tweeted about the US leader.

Seven Bolivian customs officers and two military men were arrested in a border incident in Chile on March 19. The two countries, never friendly, have recently clashed over a maritime dispute that dates back to Chile’s seizure of coastline and territory in 1879.

Bolivia is demanding access to the Pacific Ocean, while Chile is demanding that Bolivia allow it to navigate the Silala River.

7. Tzipi Kaplan, daughter of Rabbi Kahane, passes away

Tzipi Kaplan, the daughter of the late Rabbi and MK Meir Kahane, founder of The Jewish Defense League and the Kach party who was assassinated in New York by an Arab gunman, passed away over Shabbat at the age of 56, after a long struggle with a serious medical condition and suffering a severe CVA over a week ago.

The funeral took place Saturday night at the Har Hamenuchot cemetery in Jerusalem.

In 2014, at an event marking 24 years since the murder of Rabbi Kahane, Kaplan told Arutz Sheva that “the thing that most characterized him as a father was his concern for our education. He never tired of telling us how important it was for us to study Torah when we were young, to take in as much as we can learn, because it’s a treasure for your whole life.”

“There’s another thing he said many times – that it hurt him a lot that he wasn’t with us all the time. He really was, first and foremost, an educator. Everything he did was as an educator. We are very proud of his self-sacrifice. He had unique courage, the courage not to be afraid,” she had said.

8. WATCH: IDF retaliates for Syria spillover

The Israeli Air Force attacked several Syrian National Defense Forces targets in the Syrian-controlled northern Golan Heights.

Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman (Yisrael Beytenu) said, “We do not intend to allow our sovereignty or security to be harmed, even by a war between the Syrian government and rebel forces.”

“We will respond with determination and force as we see fit, every time such an incident occurs.. We hold the Assad regime responsible for what happens in Syria. If such incidents continue, Assad’s regime will bear the consequences.”

The IAF attacks destroyed two of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s tanks, as well as an additional target which fired missiles into Israel.

According to Arab media reports, two Syrian National Defense Forces soldiers were killed when the Israeli Air Force struck their tanks.

The IAF attacks came in response to ten mortar shells which exploded on Saturday afternoon in an open area in the Golan Heights close to the Syrian border.

No one was hurt and no damage was caused.

The explosions came as thousands of Israelis and tourists hiked in the Golan Heights at the start of summer. No air raid siren was sounded, but the IDF advised both farmers and tourists to avoid the open areas near Emek Habakha “because of Syria’s internal conflicts in the area.”
