I feel like Chu Wanning from Erha is often what Shen Jiu stans want him to be. Like don't get me wrong, I love Shen Jiu, but I like him because he's such an unrepentant bastard. I also adore Chu Wanning, because well, who wouldn't, but I noticed a trend in a lot of fanfics where SJ is characterized similar to CWN, a cold, misunderstood tsundere, who is wronged by a lot of people. I'm all for SJ getting some good character development and becoming a better person, but I wish that development would stay true to his nature. Not to mention, the whole SJ was justified in his treatment of LBH- that always makes me so upset. Unlike CWN, SJ genuinely hated LBH and really wanted to hurt him.

Ok this is so funny because when I first started to read 2ha I thought I would have to quit bc my mind was linking Chu Wanning with jiang cheng!!!! HAHA Like the WHIP! The way he whipped Mo Ran so severely. His whole internal dialogue. He was like I'm ugly, I'm unloved, I'm unwanted, I've had to be strong for so long, and my outside is so mean but my insides are mush---- I almost couldn't deal. Then ofc I realized it's not jc jc he reminds me of it's FANON jc! the idea stans have of jc! that he's a prick w a heart of gold vs just a prick w a heart of prick, and prick sprinkles. So I steeled myself tried to stop my mind from making that association, & continued and ofc unlike jc, Chu Wanning actually is selfless and kind and good and powerful etc. But yeah for a moment there it was touch and go. SO I'm loving this comparison w Shen Jiu bc I can absolutely see this too! (Fanon Shen Jiu ofc). I'm wondering if Chu Wanning (& 2ha) is so popular bc it appeals to this, it would seem pretty common, desire ppl have for this type of character, since they're changing every canon asshole into a Chu Wanning. lolol Shen Jiu is a character I really like but I don't envy anyone the task of writing a redemption arc for him or character development whilst maintaining his canon character and I haven't really come across a work to do it successfully yet.

One of my biggest problem with the ending of 2ha is that mo ran and txj did not proparly merge together and they take turns every 3 days, but they are still Mo Ran. They are so different that txj even refuses to acknowledge mo zongshi as himself.

2. But ofc cwn loves them both. Bit here comes the question, what is love? Is it just an obssession to follow sm u had that one spark one time, or you fall in love with his character with his heart. Cwn loving 2.0 mr is ok, cause the latter rembered that he had kindness & decided to lead a life of righteousness. Those are good traits to fall in love with. Then comes txj that went on a blind date (at the extra chapters, ot was supposed to be funny cause the other person turned xue meng)

On a blind date with sm to make cwn jealous, showing that he doesn't know cwn cause he would know cwn self-esteem problems. Not to mention he told lots of intimate stuff to a stranger, who for worse turned out to be xue meng. R.i.p cwn thin face. So overall, mr becoming better and thus deserving cwn love theme gets ruined. Now someone would say what about unconditional love. Well I have always seen it as sticking together th/ fires & waters, with sm that completes you.

Not to mention that cwn 0.5 soul never got a chance like txj soul... txj literary replaced him with another version from another timeline. Sorry, this is a mess of a ask😅 I just read your 2ha meta and they were chef kiss. Especially the beauty bones. Lol, half of this fandom has just totally erased from existance in 2ha universe shi mei

See, I don;t pay attention to the extras (with the exception of the Mei Hanxue/Xue Meng one because that is HILARIOUS). Extras are not part of the story proper, so I think people are free to ignore them should they wish--and from the sound of this, I Do Wish lol. That’s not exactly my cup of tea/how I prefer love to be shown. Sigh.

And thank you! Yeaaaaaaah. The Butterfly Bone Beauties deserve better. Shi Mei had Some Points. (but he gets nowhere near the hate of Song Qiutong, which is... not particularly fun lol)

my take on immortality - the dumb husky and his white cat shizun live action-

I would have to mention The untamed because TU is prolly arguably the perfect BL series considering the cn censorship. Why... bcos even tho it is a little bit not loyal (?) to the novel we were given a better solution. Stories has to change in TU but the casting? the plot? for me it was a success.

We are able to focus on wangxian (We all love wangxian in the novel, but we LOVED TU WANGXIAN EVEN MORE). There is no female actress that could confuse us as to who might have been the ML or MC's "love interest".

Therefore, the show (aside from all the angst, the comedy, action, and values) revolves around the silent pining between two bros and TWO BROS ALONE. No female in sight. That was a good decision actually, because for me, it spared me the "eye-rolling" or "imma slap this bitch if she doesn't get the fuck away from them". (Shoutout! THANK YOU TU TEAM FOR GIVING US STRONG, POWERFUL WOMEN WHO AREN'T ANNOYING BITCHES. NOT ALL WOMEN WANTS TO BE IN BETWEEN OF SOMEONE ELSE'S RELATIONSHIP thank you very much (ofc except that wen chao's dirty bitch)). The chemistry of the whole cast plays a GIGANTIC role into making this show a success. but yeah the fact that i just said (or wrote) now is one of the reasons i didn't drop TU unlike some other CN shows.

(I gotta say one of the shows i dropped but IT COULD HAVE BEEN SO SO MUCH BETTER WAS Priest's Guardian. I love the two actors, but the plot is confusing and i had to stop it so it wouldn't ruin the novel for me. I haven't read it yet so i don't need the visuals from the show. But i will pick it up soon! a promise)

So, that brings me to 2ha's Immortality. I cannot stress this enough how much I love the novel. I love the dynamics between the characters. I love the unapologetic, sadistic nature of the novel if that makes sense. The knives just keeps on coming. The horny Chu wanning and Mo ran. They are adorable. I love the characters. T_T

Okay, immortality. before i think to bitch about it, I WILL NOT BITCH ABOUT IT. because I haven't even watch it yet. it will be unfair. But i think the casting changed the plot somehow, of course to fit the censorship criteria, they gotta be smart. So the very fact they changed Shi mei character to a female actor is giving them leverage? (help i'm just throwing in words that i think might make sense) so are we going to expect a full blown, hate-love relationship between the two MLs onscreen? will it be obvious? or... will they try to tone it down by creating an annoying female love interest character to somehow confuse the cn government that this isn't NSFW BL kinda story?

Yes, Shi mei character to a female actor does make sense. It will give us more... angst?... but hopefully please, i'm asking on behalf of the entire female population, please give us some credit. We also want female characters with substance.

I only discussed One factor that could make or break a live action show from a BL novel. But I am no god. This is just my unwanted opinion, or observations. forgive me.

I wish all the best to Immortality show. They have amazing actors I heard. Luo Yunxi, is my god. He is the perfect Shizun.

I just love the fact that we are getting a live action.
