I think the craziest thing about LPS Popular Remake’s conflict with the group assuming that Brooke is dating Briak, thus propelling the storyline forward, is that if they remembered that Brooke is a lesbian, I’m pretty sure this all would’ve been resolved quicker lol
Unless you’re thinking Brooke is a bisexual, I just think it’s crazy that they would’ve thought that she was going after boys again after high school.
Anyway, imagine being Brooke and learning that the best friend you’ve been pining for, who is getting married, has feelings for you too but didn’t act on them cause everyone thought you were dating your gay French friend.

Random Things About “My Everything” That No One Cares About...But I Do lol
Like most fic writers, I actually had to do a bunch of research for this story to make sense and I put a lot of work into it so I thought id come on and point out minor details in the story that where interesting but you may have missed while being enticed by the plot lol. THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR MY EVERYTHING SO DONT READ IF YOU HAVENT FINISHED IT YET!
ok Im not going in order of the chapters so i’ll probably miss a few things but whatever.
lets start with ‘the baseball scene.’ When peters getting whipped, i made him dissociate and the memory he latches onto is the baseball scene. Its actually a thing in the comics that peter loves the mets and ben would always take him. The quote i used between peter and tony is taken straight from the comics. (the one that’s like “maybe nexy year.” Its actually something said between Peter and Ben since he took him to a game every year and thats what the whole scene is based on.) And since im a boston girl and a red sox fan, i decided to include a real life game between the sox and the mets. I followed the actual weather patterns, as well as the time of day, and the things that actually happened during the game. I wanted it to be as realistic as possible.
And speaking of weather patterns, all of them are real. Every time i described the weather in my fic, it was actually real. Like go look up the weather in new york on some random day in the story and its real. Like every time it rained, i made sure to include that. Same with the temperatures in the different areas. I was really thorough lol
ok next lets go to the scene between tony and wanda at cho’s funeral. wanda says something to him and tony goes “now you sound like steve” and she goes “i think he got it from someone.” Its actually the quote Peggy tells him in winter soldier.
okay now lets do random little details. When Peter ‘escapes’ during one of the chapters after ned and mj die, he leaves a little hand print on the wall. In chapter 15, steve and tony walk past it without knowing its actually peter’s.
When young mason and spencer escape outside, i described the surrounding area as being barren with trees off in the distance. And how they came across a little brook that they skipped stones across. In chap 15, the avengers walk past it, but its very dried up since many years have gone by at that point.
that clock/countdown in the later chapters (00:00:00) went away after peter was activated because it doesnt MATTER if they rescue him anymore. Hes being controlled now.
All the medical stuff and ingredients in the drug are from criminal minds lol. The characters were always talking about random crap the unsubs drugged victims with and id be like “oh shoot thats perfect for my fic lol”
in the chapter where the bomb goes off, steve has a dream that he has to choose which one of his friends gets to live and everyone else will die. Vision ends up exploding, killing two of his friends. Later on once steve is awake, an explosion causes two of his friends to die (fury and hill), and he has to choose between saving wanda or fury.
tw for rape! okay i needed it to be bucky and nat that killed justin. Justin was a disgusting rapist so he obviously needed to go, but i needed it to be nat and bucky that did it. Nat was kidnapped at a young age and put in the red room where they forcibly sterilized her. Its not hard to imagine they also did sexual things to her too. Same with bucky. He was with hydra for years and in falcon in the winter soldier, there is a scene where zemo strokes buckys face and tells the lady “he’ll do whatever you want” and idk about you but it seemed very sexual to me. And it implied that bucky has been raped before. So writing a story that heavily mentions rape, i really wanted it to be them that dealt with justin.
moving on to the may thing, i literally foreshadowed that ish from the very beginning. Every dream/feeling peter had of it being fake/not real or how it all felt wrong was actually his senses telling him that it was fake. Thats why he was always so on edge during all the flashback scenes. He wasn’t just grieving for four months, his senses were literally driving him insane.
also peter has glowing blue eyes now, dont forget.
this ones hella random, but i mentioned that mj was going to school in england, and before she was kidnapped, there was a scene with ciaran talking to his scouts about “bringing in ned and mj (the pawns or whatever i called them).” I didnt use their actual names because it was a shocking moment later on, but i mentioned that one of the scouts ciaran was talking to had a british accent. That was meant to show you guys like “oh shit this scout is from/in england...who else do we know thats there right now.....MJ”
theres probs more that im forgetting but its 4am lol so ill add on to this if i remember anything else

Powerless Part 10 [FINAL] (Branjie)- athena2
I guess I can get sappy now since it’s the last chapter, so bear with me. When I first came up with this idea, I genuinely didn’t think anyone would want to read it. To have people comment and tell me they’ve enjoyed this fic really means so much to me. I’ve never written a real chaptered fic, or one this long, and it’s been an amazing experience, even if I had no idea what I was doing for most of it. With that, I have to give one more enormous thank you to Kite. You’ve helped me with this since Chapter 3, and this fic would not be what it is without your help. Thank you for everything. Finally, thank you to everyone that has read and commented on this. Your support really kept me going. Thank you.
Vanessa never wanted to be a hero.
She’d had a perfectly normal life. And sometimes she still ached for that life.
But not as often. Not when her heart was so full with her new life. With Brooke.
She never imagined she could have anything like this. Someone to wrap her arms around at night, someone she still wanted her arms wrapped around in the morning. Someone to talk to, to laugh with. Someone to understand. Someone to bake her cookies and kiss her and love her.
Someone she could just be Vanessa with.
Even though she had been Vanjie and on her own for so long that she’s still discovering who Vanessa is and how to be with another person.
But Brooke is everything. She is soft and cool. She is sweet and loving and just the right amount of ice to tame the fire while still letting its flames burn bright and strong.
Vanessa never wanted to be a hero. And now, she didn’t have to be. With Brooke, she didn’t always have to be Vanjie.
She could just be Vanessa. —
The flames surround her.
The heat makes her skin crackle, the smoke makes her vision water and blur at the edges. She can’t breathe, she can’t see, she needs to get her mother out, she needs to–
Distant screams blare in her ears. The blackness creeps in. The smoke chokes her, filling her limbs and turning them to stone.
She sinks to her knees, trying to get one last breath in–
She blinks awake slowly, wondering if she’s dead. She shoves a warped chunk of metal off her. She looks down at her hands, trying to see if her body is still in one piece. Where is everyone? What the fuck happened? The ash clings to her, even stuck under her nails and in her nose, and tiny sparks begin popping off her fingertips–
Vanessa rolls over and keeps her eyes shut tight, fearing she’ll see flames when she opens them, still feeling the heat sear her skin. No, she’s not burning. She forces her eyes open. Brooke is sleeping peacefully beside her, face serene, and Vanessa nestles in closer, lets Brooke’s cold skin calm her down, cool her sweaty body. No fire. No smoke. Just their bedroom.
She hasn’t had a nightmare of the fire in almost a year, and she coughs softly, like the smoke is still poisoning her lungs.
Silk always told her she’d survived that fire for a reason. Yeah, because the chemicals in the explosion did something to my DNA, Vanessa would reply, not giving into Silk’s insistence that she was meant to live for some higher calling.
Vanessa could never understand what she had lived for. Sure, she used her powers to stop criminals and save people. But she hadn’t been able to save her family when it counted. Then Brooke lets out a content sigh in her sleep, and Vanessa thinks maybe Silk was right.
The clock reads 3:07. Vanessa takes a breath. She wraps her arm around Brooke’s waist and softly kisses her neck, the icy skin soothing her back to sleep. —
Brooke never wanted to be a villain.
She’d had a perfectly normal life. A life that she’s still trying hard to remember.
But sometimes she is so happy with her new life that she can be content without knowing the old one.
She never imagined she could have anything like this. Someone to hold her while she slept, who was still with her in the morning. Someone to talk to, to make her laugh. Someone to understand. Someone to eat the cookies she makes at 3am and kiss her and love her.
Someone she could just be Brooke with.
Even though she had been Frost and on her own so long that she’s still discovering who Brooke is and how to be with another person.
But Vanessa is everything. She is fiery yet patient. She is kind and loving and just the right amount of fire to thaw the sharp edges of the ice while letting it stand strong and shiny.
Brooke never wanted to be a villain. And now, she didn’t have to be. With Vanessa, she didn’t always have to be Frost.
She could just be Brooke. —
She’s on a plane, with the window shade down so she can avoid the fact that she is hurtling through the air at almost 40,000 feet in a fucking metal container when she hears the ice hit the plane.
It assaults the the metal like millions of tiny knives, and the pilot is saying something but she can’t hear. Her heart is outracing the plane itself. Thunder cracks and she thinks it splits the sky in two. Screams fill the plane, metal screeches, and then they’re racing downward but her vision is getting cloudy–
She’s back outside that lab where she stole the drug formula, hand stinging from the tiny cuts the glass vial made.
The streetlight teeters after Vanjie’s overzealous fireball, and the girl is not just a girl, but someone she knows. A friend? She runs, not aware of what she’s doing until the streetlight smacks against her palms. The girl stares at her, eyes wide, and she’s just a girl again. Frost doesn’t know her. Did she ever know anyone that looked like her? She drops the light and massages her temples. She’s disobeying. She has to go. She has to-
Brooke blinks and she’s in her bedroom, not the alley and definitely not the plane. There’s no streetlight, no ice storm, and her hand doesn’t hurt. She peeks at her phone. 4:33. Vanessa is still asleep, and Brooke matches her steady breathing, mops the sweat off her neck.
She pulls out her notebook, following Nina’s advice to write down dreams she has.
The girl. Her friend? Something with a P? Brooke is positive she’s had this dream, almost remembered the name before. She rubs her eyes furiously, begging the name to come, even though Nina says she can’t force it. But she needs to know, feels her body starving to know something, anything, and Brooke lets her mind go blank in an effort to feed it.
Plastique. It pops into her head like a firework in a pitch-black sky. That was her name. Did she work with Brooke? Old Brooke, from before the accident? She was young, though. Had she been an assistant or something? Brooke can’t imagine being important enough to require an assistant, but then again, she doesn’t really know Brooke.
She’s afraid she might never know Brooke, because of the lab.
They always said they had saved her, and she guesses they technically did by pulling her out of the wreck, barely breathing. But Vanessa shifts in her sleep, a small smile on her face, and Brooke knows who really saved her.
She sighs and puts the notebook away. She kisses Vanessa’s cheek and wraps her arm around her, the fiery skin soothing her back to sleep. —
Vanessa’s phone blares loud enough to wake the dead. She groans awake, feeling Brooke nearly jump out of her skin beside her.
She peeks at the caller ID with a half-shut eye. “This pain in the ass,” she mutters.
“What is so important you had to wake me up at the ass crack of dawn?” Vanessa grumbles as she puts the phone on speaker.
“It might interest you to know that a house exploded yesterday-” Silk begins.
“How is that interesting?”
“If you’ll let me finish, hoe-” and she can just imagine the death glare, “-the house was the last known location of those two missing lab employees. The whole place was destroyed, so we had to wait on dental records. They match. They worked on the drugs at the lab. Seems like they were experimenting with something here and caused the explosion.”
“They’re-they’re really gone?” Brooke asks.
“They’re really gone. There’s no one left from that hellhole.”
Vanessa smiles as Silk’s voice rings through their room, ignoring the nagging feeling in her stomach that something about this doesn’t seem right.
She’s probably just being paranoid. She’s not used to the universe being this kind, but maybe it is for once, and she won’t take this away from Brooke.
She can be safe for once. —-
“So, now we…” Brooke trails off, uncertain.
“We don’t have to worry about the lab anymore, Brooke. It’s over. You…you’re free now. You’re safe.”
Safe. Another kindness from the universe that she’s not sure she deserves. Brooke tries to let it wash over her, but it can’t quite settle into her body. Maybe the idea of pure safety is just too big for her to comprehend when she’s never felt it before.
“I talked to Silk, and you could start patrols with me. If you want to, I mean,” Vanessa continues.
“I think I would like that. Like I-like I have a purpose. Something to focus on, you know?”
“Imagine the headlines, bitch.” Vanessa swipes her hand across the air, gesturing to an invisible marquee. “‘‘Robbers Melt Before Vanjie.’ ‘Bad Guys Frozen in Fear of Frost.’” She cackles.
“Maybe don’t go into journalism,” Brooke smiles, pulling Vanessa against her chest. Vanessa envelopes her in a hug, and Brooke realizes she does know what safety means. Vanessa is safety, and the only time Brooke has ever felt truly safe is in her arms.
“Journalism, my ass,” Vanessa peppers kisses along Brooke’s collarbone all the way up to her lips. “We got a city to save.” —
POST-CREDITS SCENE
“They bought it. The dental match worked. What’s our next move?”
“Our next move is to find that ice bitch and make her pay. It’s because of her the General never gave us a chance. Every second was spent working on her instead of our ideas. Now we get to call the shots.”
“Her powers won’t stand a chance against ours. And I hear she’s got herself a little fire girlfriend. Gives us some leverage.”
“Good. Then we can kill both of them.” —
FROST AND VANJIE WILL RETURN IN…
OVERPOWERED

Stranded (Shoot for the Moon)
All in all, Brooke had gotten out of worse situations than this.
Granted, she had had her old crew with her then, along with an AI who would let her do things that were probably illegal, but she had done it.
The flight crew was long gone. Whether they had escape podded out, been abducted, or had died, she wasn’t sure, but they were gone.
“Don’t panic!” she shouted to the diplomats, who were looking around desperately. “I’ve got it under control.” She forced her way into the empty control room.
“My name is Brooke Miller,” she told the AI. “Anthropologist and IT specialist.” The AI beeped.
“You’re not authorized to access this control panel.” Brooke sighed.
“Look, it’s an emergency. No one left on the ship is authorized to access the control panel.”
“Shutting down.” The AI cut itself off, leaving the control panel unusable. Brooke pulled the USB stick containing Edward out of her pocket and stuck it into the ship, booting him up using voice commands.
“Hello!” he chirped. “Welcome aboard the-- this isn’t the RS Pathfinder.”
“This is the DS Discretion, Ed,” she replied. “I booted you up because I need your help. Can you grant me access to the control panel?” Edward sighed.
“I suppose.” The control panel glowed to life. Brooke’s fingers flew over the keys.
“Warning-- this program is not supported by the Discretion,” the original AI chimed in. “Please cease running program E.D-ware 7.0.0.4.”
“My name is Edward!” Edward yelped indignantly, force-closing the other AI. “I don’t know why you brought me here; I’m clearly not respected here.” He went to boot off.
“Edward, no,” Brooke ordered. “I need your help. We’re stuck in space, and I need your help to fix the engine.”
“Get Miles to do it.” Brooke shook her head.
“Miles isn’t here, Edward. I need you. Run a diagnostic on the engine room. Tell me what’s wrong.” There was a moment of silence as Edward decided whether or not he was going to listen to her.
“Running diagnostic…” he said after a moment. “Done. Warp Drive Accelerator is fried. The engine seems okay, but the battery has been overcharged.”
“Great! How do I fix it?”
“You can’t. If you continue running that battery, you may cause it to explode.” Brooke rubbed her temples, trying to figure out her next move.
“Connect me to someone at mission control. Anyone. If they won’t pick up, try someone else. Don’t stop until someone takes my call. In the meantime, get me over the intercom.” A microphone came out of the panel.
“Excuse me? Anyone left aboard the DS Discretion, this is Brooke Miller. You may know me as one of the former members of the RS Pathfinder. I’ve figured out what’s wrong with the ship. Can anyone try to find a battery?” She severed the connection to the intercom and sat there for a second, taking deep breaths.
“Brooke, I connected you to the code-breaking division of mission control.” She took one last deep breath, allowing it to come out in a sigh.
“This is Brooke Miller aboard the DS Discretion. We were attacked at an unknown location, and in trying to escape, our battery was overcharged and our Warp Drive Accelerator is fried, so we have no means of getting elsewhere. Our location is GN-z11 35, 54, 3.”
“Brooke!” Artemis’s voice called in greeting. “It’s so good to hear from you.” Brooke couldn’t help but smile. “Your profile reads MIA.”
“Yeah. We’re stranded quite a way from where we’re supposed to be with no way to get back. Could you get a read on our location and send a rescue? We need an accelerator and a battery.”
“On it. I’ll transmit your information to Emerson. He’s the only one who reads my emails. Can I get your ID? Protocol, and all that.”
“B-dash-4-5-Alpha.” Brooke put her head down on the console.
“Did you hear about Miles?” Artemis asked. Brooke could hear their fingers tapping on the keyboard.
“What about Miles?” Brooke thought she knew most everything about her friend.
“He’s missing. The Battlecruiser Ares was shot down recently.” Brooke paled, worrying for the astrochemist. “I was on his profile and got the alert. No one has managed to locate him.”
“I’m sure he’s fine,” Brooke replied, feeling her voice shake. “Miles is resilient.”
“Emerson’s sent a rescue ship. It’s on the way.”
“Thanks, Artemis. I’ve missed you so much.” She heaved a heavy sigh. “I’ve missed everyone so much. Miles. Harper. Thalia.”
“Did you miss me?” Edward chimed in. Brooke heard Artemis laugh over the transmitter.
“Yes, Ed, I missed you. The standard AI isn’t nearly as personable as you.” Edward beeped happily. “So, Art, how’s Earth treating you?”
“Not well. No one even talks to me most days. I know that they’re just trying to keep me contained so I don’t have a chance to “turn” on them, but it’s boring. The most exciting thing I do every day is secretary for some of my co-workers when they remember I exist.” Brooke tsked,
“They’re missing out on one of the coolest people in the code-breaking division, then.” She could practically feel the happiness radiating off of Artemis. “I got accused of starting a war. I’m considering throwing them off the ship.”
“I’m pretty sure that’s illegal, Brooke.” Brooke sighed and put her head back down.
“You’re probably right.”
“Alright. You should be good now, so I’ll leave you be. Good luck, Brooke.” Artemis signed off.
Brooke was alone on her ship, floating in space.

I checked “watch Garrix Show” on my bucket list, and it directly goes to the same bucket list under note “must see again” or “repeat-worthy experience”
So far I saw live performance of Michael Bublé, David Foster, Sting and Chris Botti, The 1975, Coldplay and OneRepublic. I’m grateful I got to see them all, but if opportunity arises, I have to rethink , “do I want to spend money to watch them again?”
But Martin Garrix? Boy of boy, all those energy, it’s addicting!! I went to Grand Opening Weekend of Omnia Bali. I expected to see a 7 or 8 rated show of Martin Garrix, and I got a solid 12! I prepared myself for 1 hour show and Martin gave me 2 hours full of heart thumping beats, loud bangers. He just kept hitting, invading my ears! It was bonkers!!
When the ID began, I feel like I’m gonna weep, “I’m finally here! I got to see, listen, and soak in Garrix show for real!” Then instantly I got sucked into the beat of Byte and got push further as the tunes rolling.
I wrote a note and the set list (as best as I could) during the show. But 1 hour in, I got too carried away with jumping and dancing and singing, I accidentally deleted my note 😣 So here’s the performed song list in the first hour as I remembered (not in sequence).
Opening ID
Byte. Byte is a perfect choice to open after ID. It’s like saying, “I don’t want to warm you up, I just hit it straight to the heart.”
So Far Away + remix. #tearjerker
There for You. I got a confession, when the song was released, it’s not my favorite song of MG (I say 'not favorite', but I meant I still know the words by heart but didn’t listen to it obsessively). Then when I prepared to go to this show, it resurfaced and I was hyped when Martin played it. Sing along like nobody’s business. There’s one girl looked at me happily, like “This is awesome! I’m great you’re here! Let’s sing along together!” Then together we sang, definitely out of tune, happily yelling the words.
Scared to Be Lonely + Brooks remix. Standard festival do. I got another confession. The only remix that I know by heart is STBL by Brooks. I still have no idea whose remix that Martin brought to stage for So Far Away and There for You (if you know, please tell me!) I like to see a Brooks show. In that evening alone, I listened Dusk till Dawn Brooks remix, Byte, STBL Brooks remix and Boomerang. I felt like I need closure to him 😘
Together. Standard do. I like the simplicity of it. It’s fundamentally a great song, so you don’t have to take it over the top to enjoy it.
WIEE — mashed up with Runaway (U & I) of Galantis (or was it Runaway mashed up with WIEE?). Standard do. I love it when I first listen to it (I think it was Ultra somewhere last year), still loving it until now.
Forever. This was unbelievably epic. Forever is a really good song, but I doubted it would fit on festival. Man, it’s a nice pleasure to be proven wrong. It mind blowing-ly fit. I think it’s also due to the sequence and bridges from previous and upcoming song, so it explodes well. Don’t ask me what the songs are! I lost my note x_x
Lions in the Wild. It is seriously wild. It’s one of the old song that can unite longtime fans and gather the new ones
The Only Way is Up
Break through the silence
Forbidden voices
Gold Skies
Tremor
Spotless
Animals
Game Over. Martin is not perfect, but he’s not ashamed to admit when he made mistake. He pushed wrong button in the mid of Game Over. It went off, and professionally smooth things over to similar tune. Then he said “sorry I fucked up”. He’s so humble, I just want to give him a friendly bear hug.
Like I Do
Turn Up the Speaker
Harder Better Faster Stronger — Daft Punk
Virus. This is where the best fan experience happened to me. I came to the show by myself. I stood in between a boy and a girl from two different groups. The girl was “actively sharing on her social media”. The boy was being goofy with his group of friends. When Virus came up, three of us started yelling “When every hour could be the last, why would we wait, why would we wait” and then we looked at each other excitedly, then suddenly we’re in group hug, singing and jumping. I never experience that in other music show I went to. It felt awesome. Considering Virus is an older song, so the ones who knows it well must be a good fan of MG. That what’s make it more amazing.
Sun is never going down. Our lyrically brilliant group stayed through the next song, “cause I’m rising higher than I’ve been before. I’m ready, ready, crying out for more!”
Don’t Look Down
Boomerang
Can’t Feel My Face — The Weeknd
How Deep is Your Love — Calvin Harris and Disciples
Snakecharmer — Blinders
Make Up Your Mind. This song is my least favorite from Seven. But the way Martin put it after Snakecharmer was really cool. I’m surprised that I could enjoyed it.
Pizza. At first, I thought something was not going well. It didn’t sound flawless, felt a bit flat. But then Martin mashed it with You’ve Got the Love by Florence+TM. It was a splendid!
Feels So Close —Calvin Harris; Remix ID Garrix-Mylo. Standard do. PS: I can’t get the guitar intro out of my head!
In the name of love + Dallas K remix. Standard do. Ibrclude the fireworks, which is cool.
Symphony — Clean Bandit, Zara Larsson
Waiting For Love — Avicii. Martin put this directly after So Far Away. He was so mean. Too much emotion in the span of 5 mins. I can feel my heart torn into pieces.
Never Be Like You — Flume
Firestone — Kygo
One More Time — Daft Punk
No “Hold On & Believe” and no AREA21 materials! Which is quite shocking, not in a good way. But it’s not a big offence. There are definitely songs (original or remix) that I missed to put here because I forgot, didn’t know or can’t place the title. There are also lots of new tunes, new beats, and new drops, that I know they might never be officially released as songs (when I say new, I mean I never heard it before in the video of any festivals/shows before. It might not be new, but I just got aware of it). It’s crazily good! Were I listen to it on my laptop, I'd be shocked, mouth open in a sense of “I can’t believe, this is awesome!”, and keep replaying them. He is really prolific. He worked hard.
Now into the serious question. I stood quite near to the stage, so I don’t know whether it is interference since I was near the source or it is actually different, but I heard different voices of Dua Lipa, Troye Sivan, Romy Dya, Bebe Rexha. “Like I Do”, “Waiting for Love” and Jamie Scott voice were sounded the same (or at least similar) to the original song. Maybe they’re the same voices but he modulated them? If it’s true, I’d like to ask the reason. Is it because label issue? Or is it just for fun?
All in all, I immensely enjoy my first #GarrixShow. Here’s hoping for more to show to come!

It’s always something with the Washington Wizards
Tumblr media
The Wizards’ internal drama is spilling out into public view, again. Let’s take a trip down memory lane.
John Wall and Bradley Beal called out teammates for worrying about getting shots, and Wizards head coach Scott Brooks mentioned Otto Porter out by name after Washington’s 116-112 loss to the struggling Kings on Friday night. Two days later, they lost to the Clippers by 32 points, closing another chapter in the Wizards’ long book of drama in the Wall-Beal era.
It never ends with this team, and it probably never will. So we found some of their most infamous in-house altercations and ranked them, purely because they have so many on a yearly basis. After all, it’d be a shame not to.
8) The 2013 players-only meeting
The Wizards had high expectations to return to the playoffs, but got off to just a 2-7 start to the 2013-14 season. So, Trevor Ariza and Al Harrington called a players-only meeting to discuss what needed to be done to turn around, according to Michael Lee of the Washington Post.
Our own Mike Prada wrote nearly five years ago:
It’s like clockwork. Team has expectations, team struggles, team has players-only meeting. We’re now at stage 3 with the Wizards
7) The veteran leadership of 2012
In the 2012-13 season, the Wizards were well outside the playoff picture. According to Michael Lee, veteran center Emeka Okafor was “fed up” with Wall’s attitude after a one-point loss to the Pistons. Okafor was the old head in the locker room, and he had to get his point guard in order.
Wrote Lee:
When Okafor attempted to explain afterward why Coach Randy Wittman had to make the decision to give A.J. Price more playing time, Wall snapped back, leading to a heated argument that was audible from the walls on the other side of the training room.
”It was just me being young and very frustrated. I wasn’t making anything, turning the ball over, and we lost a lot of games that we should’ve won and I put the toll on me,” Wall explained, as he recalled his emotions before the encounter. “A lot of frustration was coming out. As a veteran and being a leader on the team, [Okafor] stepped up and said something. At the time, it was in the heat of moment. I was upset.”
Oddly enough, that shouting match turned Wall’s season around. His numbers shot up across the board after Okafor confronted him.
Tough love really works sometimes, huh?
6) Summer 2016: Is it the money?
In the summer of 2016, Beal signed a monster five-year, $127 million contract extension, while Wall was still on his modest deal worth just $48 million over four years, inked before the cap exploded. Everyone made it seem like Wall was hating on Beal’s contract, and there’s a possibility he was, especially with a quote like this on record in a summer interview with CSN’s Chris Miller:
”Now that you have your money you got to go out there and improve your game,” Wall said. “I want you to be an All-Star just as much as I’m an All-Star. If we were playing well as a tandem like the other two superstars that play together as a backcourt, play as a tandem, one night it’s going to be his night, one night it’s going to be mine, some nights it might be both of us. Those are nights it’s going to be tough to beat us.”
Their beef wasn’t money based — at least not fully. Wall signed his contract at an inopportune time, before the cap jumped. He’s getting his money’s worth today, thanks to a four-year, $170 million supermax extension signed in 2017 that hasn’t even kicked in yet. That’s for sure.
These two players just weren’t the best of friends. Their relationship was a work in progress, it still it. There was even more lighter fluid thrown on the fire last season, when Beal and the Wizards initially thrived while Wall was out with an injury.
Both have huge contracts now. They’ll have to figure it out together.
5) Gary Neal vs. everybody

Exhibit B, via J. Michael of CSN Mid-Atlantic.
Teammates complained about his locker room behavior to the point that Drew Gooden, CSNmidatlantic.com was told by someone there at the time, asked, “What is wrong with that dude?” He rubbed some players the wrong way because, it was interpreted, all of Neal’s concerns about the offense involved getting himself better statistics so he could get paid this summer.
Another former teammate, reflecting on the season Sunday, spoke about feeling as if Neal was trying to show him up in front of teammates — this conversation with CSN took place almost 24 hours before the Facebook post — and concluded: “I should’ve punched him out.”
[…]
Said another teammate from 2015-16 after seeing Neal’s post Monday, via text: “Terrible teammate. All about himself.”
When the Wizards spoke of "selfish" play this season after games they usually were referring to Neal. No love lost, clearly #WizardsTalk

4) 2018: Don’t worry about your shots, bro
Wall said it without saying a name.
“We’ve got guys that’s worried about who’s getting shots. …You should never worry about that,” he said, via The Athletic’s Fred Katz. “No matter if you’re missing or making shots, you gotta be able to compete on the other end. You can’t do it on both ends of the floor, you don’t need to be playing.”
So did Beal.
“Sometimes, we have our own agendas on the floor, whether it’s complaining about shots, complaining about playing time, complaining about whatever it may be,” Beal said. “We’re worried about the wrong shit, and that’s not where our focus needs to be. And it’s just going to continue to hurt us.”
Head coach Scott Brooks came over the top and gave a reason why he’s been giving more minutes to Kelly Oubre Jr. over Otto Porter recently.
“I like the way Kelly’s playing” Brooks said. “Otto, he has to just keep playing and can’t worry about your shots and worry about your shot-making, but Kelly is playing well.”
Porter responded the next day with this:
Otto Porter was asked if he agreed with Wall's and Beal's perspective about players having their "own agendas." Porter: "I can’t say that. But you gotta play together. We can’t have our heads down…So we gotta figure, hey, we gotta play for each other."
— Candace Buckner (@CandaceDBuckner) October 27, 2018
Then, the Wizards got blown out by the Clippers. Everything is fine in Washington.
3) 2013: ‘Take your head out your butt’
In November of 2013, the Spurs had just beaten the Wizards by 16 to send their early season record to 2-6. Nene, another proud veteran, believed Washington had more talent than San Antonio, but the Gregg Popovich-coached team played ball the right way.
So after that loss, Nene was hot, and he lit up his younger teammates for chasing stats instead of chasing victories.
“They kicked our butts in the most classy way — playing the right way,” Nene said, fuming following the clinical destruction of the Wizards by the selfless Spurs. “It’s crazy, that’s what makes me mad. Our young guys think they’re so smart. But if I was young, I would watch video of that game for one week to see if I could learn something, because the way they play is how you’re supposed to play.
“They not talented as us,” Nene continued. “They have great players, a great team, but the way they execute things, the way they cut, the way they exploit weaknesses, swing the ball. They don’t think about stats. We still think about stats. Our young guys must take their heads out their butts and play the right way, because I’m getting tired of this.”
2) 2018: Great “team” victory
Immediately after Wall underwent arthroscropic knee surgery, the Wizards went on a tear, winning five in a row and eight of their next 10. They were moving the ball well, with a 30-assist game to show, and his teammates appeared to be playing better without him.
After the third of those victories — a 122-119 home win over East-leading Toronto — Marcin Gortat tweeted this:
Unbelievable win tonight ! Great "team" victory!
— Marcin Gortat (@MGortat) February 2, 2018
Great “team” victory, huh? That sure sounded like Wall shade, so Wall responded on Twitter:
YOOOO!!!! pic.twitter.com/kcsJJBSUPr
— Martin Gorthot (@WashedWizards) February 2, 2018
Then he appeared on SportsCenter -- yes, SportsCenter -- with HAYMAKERS:
John Wall on ESPN just said “funny hearing Gortat talking when he gets the most spoon-fed easiest baskets cause of him” pic.twitter.com/U3zOdCCu2x
— The Fix is in (@Groovy_Ky) February 6, 2018
“I know I’m a team player. I average almost 10 assists a game,” Wall told SportsCenter on Tuesday. “I’m very prideful in finding my teammates and getting guys easy shots. Even more just shocking hearing it from him and understand he gets the most assists from me and gets the most spoon-fed baskets ever.”
Gortat later clarified and said the tweet wasn’t directed specifically at Wall:
“We talk about team win with 30 assists a game, everybody played for each other. We enjoyed the game,” Gortat continued. “And basically I see that, you know, he felt different way. He felt it was a different way and he came back with that kind of a comment. So, now we got to ask each other questions, who’s attacking who?”
The two finished the season together, but the Wizards traded Gortat to the Clippers for Austin Rivers over the summer.
1) 2015: “My supposed big men”
No coach likes his team getting thrashed on the boards, and in 27 minutes of play against the Oklahoma City Thunder in Nov, 2015, Gortat recorded just three rebounds.
So after the game, then-Wizards head coach Randy Wittman lit into Gortat without using his name. Emphasis ours:
“We don’t have any toughness. We don’t hit anybody and rebound the ball. We’ve got guys that play 27 minutes and get one defensive rebound,” a heated Wittman after the game. “I can get a rebound, I guarantee you. If you give me 27 minutes on a Saturday, I’ll get you a rebound. And that’s what it boils down to -- 50-50 balls, the dirty stuff.
“We’re just too soft of a team right now. I might as well stick four guards and a center out there and play, because we’re getting beat on the boards with my supposed big men out there,” Wittman said. “We let teams take it to us the last three games.”
Gortat responded and said the reason he wasn’t getting rebounds was because the team was giving up 100 points in three quarters and there weren’t many missed shots to get boards from. He also wasn’t happy to be called out by his head coach in public.
“I don’t think it was necessary to call me out in the media like that,” Gortat said Friday after pausing for nine seconds before answering a question on the subject. “But it happened. I heard a different story in training camp, that stuff like that won’t happen. But it happened. So I disagree with what he did.”
That moment ruined their relationship. The Wizards failed to make the playoffs and Wittman was fired after the season.
But in all these cases save for the Okafor confrontation, the Wizards pulled together enough to win at least half of their games. In 2013-14, 2014-15, and 2016-17, they even won a round in the playoffs!
Maybe that’ll offer some solace to Wizards fans in the end, though they’re probably tired of history repeating itself.

Ugly details on COVID realities in federal prison in Louisiana as Bureau of Prisons slowly updates system-wide spread
The Washington Post has this troubling report, headlined "An explosion of coronavirus cases cripples a federal prison in Louisiana," about what is going on the federal prison where the first federal inmate died from contracting the coronavirus.  Here are excerpts:
A federal prison in Louisiana has, within days, exploded with coronavirus cases, leading to the death of one inmate on Saturday, the admission of a guard into a hospital intensive care unit, and positive test results for another 30 inmates and staff.  Patrick Jones, 49, was the first inmate in the Federal Bureau of Prisons diagnosed with the novel coronavirus, which causes covid-19, and the first to die.
At least 60 inmates at the Oakdale prison are in quarantine and an unknown number of staff are self-quarantining at home, said Corey Trammel, a union representative for correctional officers at the 1,700-inmate facility about 110 miles northwest of Baton Rouge. “It’s been simultaneous, just people getting sick back to back to back to back,” Trammel said. “We don’t know how to protect ourselves. Staff are working 36-hour shifts — there’s no way we can keep going on like this.”
The prison bureau is not releasing the names of other infected inmates or staff, citing medical and privacy concerns. Jones complained of a “persistent cough” on March 19, the prison bureau said, and was transported to a hospital where he was diagnosed and placed on a ventilator. The prison bureau also said Jones had “long-term, preexisting medical conditions” that increased his risk of developing the disease. Jones was convicted in 2017 of possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine within 1,000 feet of a junior college. He was serving a 27-year sentence....
Trammel said the prison bureau has been slow to respond to the crisis across the country. The bureau last week banned family and friends from visiting inmates, but the officers’ union had lobbied the federal prison system to take this action for weeks to keep the disease from infiltrating the prison walls.
The Bureau of Prisons updates confirmed coronavirus cases most afternoons on its website, but there has been a lag between cases reported by the officers’ union and prison officials. As of Sunday afternoon, the prison system had only confirmed 14 inmates and 13 staff have tested positive.
At Oakdale, Trammel said staff also asked prison officials — weeks before the first coronavirus case — to shut down a prison labor program within the facility, where more than 100 prisoners make inmate clothing. The program, Trammel said, was not shut down until after the first inmate tested positive. The Bureau of Prisons — which operates 122 prisons with more than 175,000 inmates — did not immediately respond Sunday to a request for comment. Oakdale Warden Rod Myers could also not be reached for comment.
Trammel said he asked the prison bureau on Saturday to send specialized medical teams to the facility to help with staffing shortages. He’s also asking for hazard pay, which would increase their salaries by 25 percent as they respond to the crisis. And he’s asking for more robust protective gear, including masks with respirators and perhaps face shields. “We are bringing inmates to the hospitals and are staying right beside them around the clock,” Trammel said. “All we have is these itty bitty masks — a piece of towel over our faces — and nurses are coming into the room for a few minutes and they are all suited up.”
He also said he believes all Oakdale prison staff have now been exposed to the virus. Days ago, he interacted with an inmate who had a fever and still doesn’t know if the prisoner has received a test. “We should all be in quarantine,” Trammel said. “We should not be going in to spread this monster of a virus.”
Interestingly, BOP on this COVID-19 Update page says it is updating its "dashboard daily at 3:00 p.m." BOP did not seem to do daily updates over the weekend (if only COVID took weekends off).  But, perhaps prodded by this Washington Post piece, it seems BOP did do an update this morning as it now reports that 19 federal inmates and 19 federal prison staffers have tested positive for COVID-19.  Here is where those numbers come from:
(Inmate) 3/29/2020 - MDC Brooklyn; FCC Oakdale (5); USP Atlanta (2); MCC New York (3); FMC Butner; FCI Otisville; RRC Phoenix, AZ; RRC Brooklyn, NY (4); RRC Janesville, WI.
(Staff) 3/29/2020 - Grand Prairie, TX; Leavenworth, KS (no inmate contact); Yazoo, MS (2); Atlanta, GA; Danbury, CT; Butner, NC; Ray Brook, NY; New York, NY (2); Chicago, IL (2); Brooklyn, NY (3); Oakdale, LA (3); Lompoc, CA.
Disconcertingly, the Washington Post piece reports "positive test results for another 30 inmates and staff" from Oakdale, LA, whereas the updated BOP page appears to be reporting only eight positives (five inmates, three staff) in that facility.  I sure would like to be able to trust, and I sure would like for federal prosecutors and judges and defendants to be able to trust, the data coming from the BOP.  But for now I am more inclined to trust my pessimistic instinct that every federal facility has coronavirus problems and these problems seem all but certain to get worse in the days and weeks ahead.

Donald Trump's international interference remarks: US president utilizing media to rally base, keep in highlight forward of 2020
http://tinyurl.com/y3qvg9b9 Adolf Hitler’s closest aide and Reich minister of propaganda as soon as rightly remarked, “Consider the press as an amazing keyboard on which the federal government can play.” That’s precisely what US president Donald Trump did when he blustered about having no qualms in not informing the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) if a international energy affords damaging info — regardless of a hailstorm of allegations about his marketing campaign lapping up ‘filth’ on his 2016 Democratic adversary Hillary Clinton within the 2016 election — towards his opponents within the race for the Oval Workplace in 2020 (though he later walked again his feedback after criticism from Democrats and Republicans alike). In a no-holds-barred unique interview with ABC Information anchor George Stephanopoulos on Wednesday, the US president got here out all weapons blazing saying, “It is not an interference; they’ve info. I feel I’d take it.” Rubbishing the concept such an help can be thought of interference within the American election course of, Trump stated that that “if anyone referred to as from a rustic, Norway … We’ve got info in your opponent, I feel I’d need to hear it.” File picture of US president Donald Trump. AP Trump’s braggadocio got here on a day on which his eldest son Donald Trump Jr was grilled by the Senate Intelligence Committee, most likely about his function in fixing a gathering between Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya — who supplied filth on Hillary — the President’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, his jailed ex-campaign chairman Paul Manafort, publicist Rob Goldstone, Russian billionaire Aras Agalarov and Baku-born singer Emin Agalarov at Trump Tower, New York, in June 2016. Why did the enfant horrible of American politics blatantly introduced that he would flout the Federal Election Marketing campaign Act and Federal Election Fee guidelines, which clearly prohibit international nationals from “making any contribution or donation of cash or different factor of worth, or making any expenditure, unbiased expenditure, or disbursement in reference to any federal, state or native election in the USA?” Properly, Trump is aware of that “there’s no such factor as unhealthy publicity” particularly when he can leverage the fourth pillar of democracy. Trump has vociferously used the press and the social media to his benefit even it meant unhealthy publicity. He believes within the ‘instigate, cost and reap’ tactic: he launches a blitzkrieg on a controversial subject understanding properly it might explode within the face of his adversaries, who will react in a hard and fast sample and ultimately up aiding him. A lot earlier than Trump entered the West Wing, he had turn into the ‘Don of unhealthy publicity’ by utilizing the press to his benefit. When the Marla Maples scandal rocked his marriage with Ivana in February 1990, it was probably the most scrumptious fodder for the tabloids. However ultimately, it was Trump, who had one other feather in his celeb cap. Throughout his virulent PR struggle with Ivana, an incensed Trump referred to as up New York Put up’s then-editor Jerry Nachman demanding front-page protection, in keeping with the Put up’s former journalist Jill Brooke. “Homicide, cash or intercourse,” stated Nachman. “Marla says with me it’s the most effective intercourse she’s ever had,” quipped Trump after “shouting to his lover and future spouse — who was close to him — recalled Brooke. “Sure, Donald,” she reportedly stated. And, the subsequent day, the Put up splashed: ‘Marla boasts to her friends about Donald: BEST SEX I’VE EVER HAD’ After assuming the presidency, Trump fired the primary shot when Melania Trump was accused of plagiarising components of Michelle Obama’s speech on the primary night time of Republican Nationwide Conference. “Excellent news is Melania’s speech bought extra publicity than any within the historical past of politics particularly in the event you consider that every one press is nice press!” he tweeted. The Wednesday shocker was meant to make use of the press — for instance, CNN, The Washington Put up, The New York Put up — to be within the limelight and reap advantages of the not fairly exoneration by former particular counsel Robert S Mueller III within the Russia election meddling investigation. Buoyed by Mueller not charging him, Trump has once more gone on the offensive by utilizing the media. Understanding properly that his assertion would set off a tsunami of criticism, the president is aiming to polarise the US even additional earlier than 2020. The media already exploded after Trump’s ABC interview. The tycoon has an enormous, stable base of Republican base that stands by him even in probably the most opposed circumstances: the allegations of Russia collusion, and his affairs with porn actress Stormy Daniels and former playmate Karen McDougal. The president is more and more making such statements to remain within the limelight even to the extent of brazenly inviting international spies to infiltrate the Democrat base. Regardless of detrimental publicity — whether or not on immigration, tax returns, the proposed wall on the Mexico border, assaults on serving and former intelligence chiefs, commerce struggle, Trans-Pacific Partnership, Paris Settlement, NATO, Israel-Palestine, Daniels and McDougal— Trump has been vociferous, boisterous and virulent with the media by assaulting it on one hand and reaping rewards by utilizing it on the opposite. Sportsmail Predictions
Athletes' Predictions
]
Duanne Olivier (Yorkshire) Sportsmail he wants to qualify for three years n period and play for England.
What it comes down to is, if the condition allows, that I should take a lot of wickets, but it is myopic in Yorkshire to sign the non-overseas and it would be a mockery of international cricket like England once considered him.
Ben Duckett (Nottinghamshire)
Nobody doubts his explosive talent, Bangladesh, but the question marks have always been about his attitude.
Now, slimmed down and with a new county in Notts specializing in proving England with players, Duckett starts the season with the slate clean, the name of Trevor Bayliss – checks him as a candidate during the winter to open the battle (19459005)
The newest exciting talent to get off the Surrey conveyor, Jacks exploded in public
consciousness with a extraordinary century of just 25 balls in a pre-season 10-over match against Lancashire in Dubai last month.
made his debut at 19 in all three formats during the winning season of Surrey & # 39; s Championship last year, while his off-spin marks him as a true all-rounder. Liam Livingstone (Lancashire)
Something of a false start as an England player but only lost his place in the Test team due to injury and remains a rare talent in white and red-ball cricket .
Highly regarded by the new Test batting coach Graham Thorpe and should be better for giving up the leader of Lancashire who seemed to influence his form last year.
Sportsmail & # 39; never say never & # 39; in February.
Essex has the significant advance of their knight that is available all season after they have confirmed that their international race is actually being carried out despite the telling.
What it boils down to is that he merely meant that he would make himself available again in an emergency because he would never be able to turn his back on his country. It will not happen. Instead, he has a smile on his face and will fill his boots in Chelmsford. Enjoy it as long as you can.

Altitude Camp with Brooks Running
Hi, guys!
I had such an amazing weekend in Albuquerque! Seriously, it was an unforgettable experience and so incredibly inspiring. I had the opportunity to attend Altitude Camp with Brooks Running and train with the Brooks Beasts. It was so cool to see what training like an elite runner is all about, including learning about their workouts, nutrition, coaching, and more. And, of course, I loved spending time and catching up with my favorite blog ambassadors, so it was a fun reunion for me, too! Actually, a lot of awesome things happened over the weekend at Altitude Camp, so I decided to share them in a Top 10 24 list. (There was NO WAY that I could have fit all of the great stuff that happened into 10 items!) Ok, here we go!
1. Seamless travel. No delays or hiccups. Travel to and from Albuquerque was all smooth sailing!
2. Beautiful weather. When I left Boston on Friday morning, it was 18 degrees F and snow and ice covered the ground, so arriving in Albuquerque was basically the best thing ever. Hello, sunshine!
3. The hotel (and its adorable front desk staff). Brooks picked a wonderful hotel to host our stay. It was really nice, and the staff was super accommodating to our endless requests for more water and coffee. #thingsrunnerslove
4. New running gear. Woohoo! Brooks totally hooked us up! More details below!
5. Reuniting with friends. My gosh, I love our blogger group so much. What an amazing group of women runners. I’m so lucky to know them and absolutely love spending time with them. They inspire me on so many levels.
Gear details:
Pick Up Tank Top (formerly named the Go-To Tank – also my favorite running tank ever): I love this tank because it stays put. I’m not a fan of flow-y tops that fly up and ride up during workouts. This tank is a reliable racerback that feels as good as it fits. It’s soft, stretchy, and really moves with you. It’s a staple in my workout gear (I wear them for all kinds of workouts), and it’s perfect for layering as well as wearing on its own, especially for super sweaty workouts. FYI: A bunch of different colors are on sale for just $21! Time to stock up!
Greenlight Capris: I can’t believe these are my first pair of Greenlight Capris. I’ve heard other people rave about them in the past, and now I know why they’re so popular! They fit really well with a wide, flat “power waist” that slims and stays put. They come up pretty high on your waist (but still below your bellybutton), so there’s no need for a drawstring. And the fabric is very Lululemon-esque: smooth, soft, and hugs in all the right places. FYI: Some colors are on sale for $45 right now!
NEW Juno Sports Bra: The Juno is my favorite sports bra for running, so I was happy to hear that Brooks recently made some minor upgrades to further improve it. Now it’s lighter, more breathable, and easier to get on and off. (They reshaped the keyhole in the back to give you a little more space to get out.) The stitching is now fully-bonded, which means it won’t rub or chafe your skin. And, of course, it still has it’s signature front-adjustable straps, which ensures the perfect fit. It’s also an amazing sports bra for breastfeeding moms!
Chaser 3′ Shorts (on Meghann and pictured below): I have a couple pairs of these shorts already and love them for warm weather workouts, so I’m especially excited to own this new pattern! These shorts are lightweight and move with you while the knit “power waist” stays put without a drawcord to keep you comfortable. The waist also has two pockets (one sweat-resistant; fits an iPhone 6), which are super convenient for fuel, keys, IDs, etc.
6. Meeting new runner friends. Brooks invited quite the awesome crew of media folks to Altitude Camp, and I’m so glad that I had the chance to get to know some of them. Aren’t runners just the best!? Related: My new runner friend Anoush recently wrote this piece that I really liked, so I just wanted to share: There Really Are No Set Rules For Marathon Training.
7. A track workout at altitude. Sprinting at 6,000+ feet was realllllly challenging and “fun” at the same time. My lungs only felt like exploding out of my chest a few times!
8. Pushing myself. Guys, running at altitude is crazy. Within seconds, I felt a difference in my breathing. I remember during the warm-up thinking: How the heck am I going to get through this workout? I wanted to stop and walk after the first 400 meter jog. By the end of the workout though, I managed to shave off about 8 seconds from my first 200 meter sprint to the third (and final one – thank God)!
9. Finishing a track workout at altitude. Seriously, it’s a workout that I will never forget! It also inspired me to incorporate more of this type of training into my regular workouts.
10. Listening to Danny Mackey talk about what goes into coaching the Brooks Beasts. His philosophies are so inspiring and have resulted in amazing accomplishments for the Beasts. Brooks really has something special with the relationship between Danny and the Beasts!
11. An early-morning trail run with the Brooks crew, which was probably my favorite part of the entire trip. What an incredible experience, and I can’t thank Brooks enough for it!
12. Trying out new trail running gear. The Cascadia Running Jacket is frickin’ awesome (and its not just for trail running). It’s made from a water- and wind-resistant fabric, so it shields you from rain and wind, but has plenty of ventilation too with cutouts on the sides and underarms to keep you both covered and cool at the same time. You can even throw it on over your pack, thanks to an expandable back panel. And, this is really neat, when the sun comes out and you no longer need the jacket, you can fold it up, nice and neat, right into its own front pocket. How cool is that?
I also loved testing out the Caldera Trail-Running Shoes! They’re super cushy, but lightweight and responsive at the same time. They provide a good amount of stability, which kept me cruising along on the tricky terrain. I didn’t think I would notice all that much difference between a regular running shoe and a trail-running shoe, but the Caldera definitely made for a more comfortable ride on the trail run!
13. Catching up with my friends/blog buddies. I’m so fortunate to know these ladies, and I love that I consider so many of them “real life” friends now!
14. The sights and sounds of a trail run in Albuquerque. #blessed
16. Feeling allthefeels on this run. Without sounding too cheesy, this run was emotional, cathartic, and maybe even a bit spiritual (?) for me. I haven’t run very much since November because of a hip injury. I’m doing physical therapy twice a week now, which has helped tremendously, but it’s a slow process. I was just so grateful to get in some running without a ton of pain.
17. Taking a moment post-run to articulate how running makes me feel.
18. The energy-bar competition. Brooks challenged us to create homemade energy-bars, which were then judged by the Beasts.
Our bars were a mix of oats, almond butter, honey, and chia seeds with a drizzle of almond butter and honey on top. Recipe credit goes all to Emily on this one!
19. Our team winning the competition!!
20. Having a cookout with the Brooks Beasts. I really enjoyed getting to know some of them better and learning more about their individual training. Shout out to Katie Mackey, who answered ALL of our questions!
21. Spending time with these lovely ladies. I know I’ve mentioned this a few times now, but they’re truly the best!
22. Finally meeting Brian from Pavement Runner. I’ve followed him for YEARS on social media, so it was great to meet him in person!
23. The Albuquerque sunset.
24. Taking over the Brooks Running Instagram Stories on Saturday. It was such a great opportunity, and I had a ton of fun sharing our adventures with their followers!
Question of the Day
