"Pampacapam!" - understood her little arms and smiled. – I'm Riri, I do magic. I fulfill dreams and desires.
"What? do magic?" - I finally managed to say something, after cursing even the fifth generation of someone after that scare.
"I will explain, pay attention, better sit on the sofa, the floor looks uncomfortable." -Riri said, and as soon as she said it, I realized I was sitting on the floor looking like an idiot.
I got up and went to the sofa, I don't know how I didn't freak out and started screaming like crazy and Amelia hadn't come here yet.
I took a deep breath and nodded, indicating that Riri could speak.
𝘐'𝘮 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘮, 𝘮𝘢𝘺𝘣𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮.

"I traveled from the Magical World to here, to help you return with your true love. The universe is suffering with you apart." - Riri made a melodramatic voice. I laugh at that.
"And who would that unlucky person be?" - I said between laughs.
"Tom. Tom Kaulitz." - As soon as she uttered that name, my smile disappeared.
"Don't get involved in this!" - I exclaimed. "He and I are over, there is no more, and there is nothing in the world that can change that."
Even though I still love him, I can't force him to love me back, he's happy, with the person he's always loved since he was a teenager.
"There is, shut up." - Riri laughed. "Now that I'm here, don't worry about anything else." - Riri gave a sinister smile.

I wake up with a lot of headache, I look at the clock and see that it's 7 pm, I realize that I'm in my bed, the Mp3 along with my headset was on top of the dresser next to the bed close to my cell phone. I get up and immediately get dizzy and my vision is black, I stay still for a few seconds and my vision returns to normal and the dizziness passes.
I go to the bathroom taking my medicine bag, I take one for a headache and I leave the bathroom taking the empty glass on top of my desk and I head towards the kitchen.
The apartment was dark, Amelia must have gone home to pack her things, we'll be traveling tomorrow. I go to the kitchen, fill the glass with water and take the medicine.
I close my eyes and lean against the bench.
𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢 𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘻𝘺 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘮.
“The universe wants us together, what a joke." - I laugh at myself.
"Who are you talking with?" - I stopped laughing immediately, Riri's annoyingly melancholy voice echoed through the apartment.
I turned sharply and pointed at Riri.
"Are you real! I'm not dreaming?" - I asked myself, I put my hand on her face in a form of despair.
“Of course I'm real, why wouldn't I be?" - She asked, raising one of her eyebrows.
"I thought this was a dream."
As soon as I said that, I didn't notice Amelia behind Riri in pure shock and despair.
"WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?" - She screamed, reacting the same way I reacted when I saw Riri.
Riri shuddered and mumbled some incoherent things but you could hear brief parts cut off because some words she spoke too softly.
"... she wasn't supposed to see me... what the hell... they'll want me to go back to... shit... if she doesn't interfere and stop... all right"
Riri turned and smiled at Amelia who had a frying pan in her hands, totally desperate and alert in case Riri went upstairs.
" I'm Riri, I do magic. I fulfill dreams and desires." - She finally said, Amelia screamed and threw the frying pan towards Riri, almost hitting me.
" HEY, ALMOST HIT ME." - I shouted, and Amelia laughed without humor muttering a brief apology.
"All right, let's calm down, and I'll explain everything." Riri said
୨୧ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ୨୧
After that disastrous scene, we came into the room, Riri explained everything to Amelia and also said that Amelia couldn't tell anyone, which she readily agreed.
Amelia and I exchanged glances when Riri said that Tom and I should be together. Even though she knew the meaning, Amelia said that she would help if Riri also helped her with Georg.
Riri laughed and said that she would see what she could do about it, but that the focus would be on me and Tom.
Of course I felt strangely uncomfortable with all of this, it's not every day that a magical being appears saying that he will do everything to get me together with someone else.
"So, about this “agreement”, how is it?" - Amelia put finger quotes around the word agreement. She looked quite interested. I gave her a light slap.
"There is no agreement." - Riri said calmly. "We are certain that we will, for better or for worse!"
The doorbell rang, I knew exactly who it was, Amelia glanced at me as Riri looked at the door, I told Riri to disappear, hide, evaporate, whatever, while I went to open the door Amelia stayed on the couch watching tv.
"Hi darling" - The man with blond hair and bright smile said.
"Hi love" - I smile.

The Magician of Crossroads (Chapter 1)
I already know what kind of ending will come if I continue like this. Even knowing that, I’ve let it drag on until now—that is wholly my fault. So here, I mustn’t be reckless, mustn’t hurt anyone.
Alone, I resolve and resolve again. Even if that resolve might scatter like a fleeting daydream when we meet face to face; even if, for me, all of this is but a momentary fragment of time—still, surely, I will end up regretting it.
Whichever crossroads I choose, all that remains for me will be nothing but self-reproach, resentment, and despair. Knowing this so well, I find that there is no one to resent but myself.
The Magician of Crossroads
It was a day just like any other, with good weather. In a small hut nestled deep in the forest, she and I were seated. I wore the same worn cloak as always, but she, as though she were meeting someone important, had dressed to impress. She’d tied a red ribbon in her hair and donned a new white dress that suited her well.
As a gentle breeze stirred the thin linen curtain, I cast a sidelong glance at its soft swaying and found myself lost in thought about how I might send her away. Of course, I kept a smile on my face, careful not to show any signs of trouble.
Just as I was about to speak, she beat me to it with a bright voice. "You're smiling, but your mind’s somewhere else, isn't it? I can tell. It’s obvious."
My throat went dry.
"No, not at all. Would you like some more tea?"
Though I knew she couldn’t read minds, it always felt like she could see through me completely. When had that begun? It wasn’t like this at first.
"Don’t dodge the question. But I’ll take the tea. Thank you, Laden."
The pout from earlier disappeared, and she smiled brightly. Seeing her face, words escaped me for a moment.
It was always like this. Every time I met her, I felt drawn in. Today, I was certain it would be the same.
In the beginning, the gods of Time and Light were born from darkness. Hand in hand, they emerged from the rifts in the void and surveyed their surroundings.
The god of Light spoke: "In this empty darkness, all feels hollow. Here, there is neither chaos nor order. Nothing holds meaning."
Facing them, the god of Time replied: "Yesterday is the same as today. Nothing changes or grows. Only we know of this emptiness—such a shame."
Together, they stood and declared: "I will bring light to this place." "Then I will bring order to this place." "So that all may know what is up and what is down." "So that all may know when is yesterday and when is tomorrow."
Thus, they scattered pieces of themselves into the darkness, and from these fragments, the world was born. Now, the world turns under the light and flows within the bounds of time, bound by set laws.
The magician is the only being who diverges from the world’s rules. All the more so, they are warned to refrain from meddling. For they are mere byproducts of fragments that should have faded away after creating the world. Their existence does not align with perfection.
Many magicians have already disappeared. I will, too, in time.
***
“Are you a magician, mister?”
Those were the words of a young child, eyes wide with innocence, that sparked everything. Without thinking, I answered, "Yes, I am."
There was no need to hide it. Still, magicians rarely revealed themselves. It was an unspoken rule that kept them from unnecessary entanglements with the world.
"I’ve lived for a thousand years, or maybe ten thousand… perhaps even longer. I’ve been here since the world began."
But something about this child—the innocent curiosity and the refreshing boldness—compelled me to answer, and I responded with a hint of humor, speaking in a slightly exaggerated tone.
"I am Laden, the Magician of Crossroads."
Surely, she would soon forget. And even if she didn’t, a human child is born only to return to the earth swiftly. If it became bothersome, I could simply disappear for a while as I had before.
Or so I thought back then.
To be saying this now means, in the end, things didn’t go as planned.
***
Despite their abilities, magicians do not live among people or flaunt their powers. It’s simple—they were not made for that. Because magicians are fragments of the gods who should have built and then vanished from the world, the more they use their powers, the more they lose their will, gradually becoming part of the world itself.
When the world still remembered the gods, magicians were revered. Called “fragments of the divine,” they would step forth, nurturing the creations beloved by their gods and fading only after fulfilling their roles. Those who wished to interfere excessively with the world were either stopped by other fragments or disappeared naturally, following the flow of cause and effect.
And those who vanished—only other fragments retained any memory of them. By now, few remember, and only the fragments who value quiet, solitary lives remain.
In a world where the divine is no longer remembered, they became known as "magicians," existing only as ghostly tales or ancient legends.
If no one remembers you, are you truly there? If no one acknowledges your existence, are you truly alive?
We exist. We were here. But if all of us disappear, if that day comes… then, our existence would be as if it had never been.
Was it too greedy to hope that someone would remember us? Some grew attached to humans, hoping they’d be remembered, though in the end, it was all in vain. Still, I think, in their final moments, they were happy.
How do I know? Well, wouldn’t you know better?
Oh, don’t play innocent. If you don’t know, then who would? You, of all people, should know how to make a choice without regret. You, the Magician of Crossroads. Yes, you.
***
The meaning behind the title "Magician of Crossroads" might make you curious. To put it simply, it means this: “Foreknowledge.”
As a fragment of the god of Time, I can see the future—more precisely, I know the outcome of my actions. Thus, in moments of choice, I can decide in advance what action will benefit me.
Though faint, this power is indeed akin to divine authority, a gift bestowed solely upon me. It’s why I’ve survived for so long and why some even call me the greatest magician. But this ability is also a curse. There are inevitabilities one cannot avoid. What good are crossroads if you cannot choose either path? This power merely offers a chance to select the lesser evil, forcing me to walk a road of despair, fully aware of the outcome.
And there’s another flaw: though I see the outcome, I cannot see the path that leads there.
So, when I unwittingly glimpsed the child’s future, I was struck with alarm.
Because from the moment she became entangled with me, this child’s fate—regardless of the form—was sealed to end in death because of me.
That was something I realized after our third meeting. Despite my warnings, she somehow managed to find me, even as I secluded myself deep in the forest. Exasperated and unsure how to shake her off, I resorted to my power.
Yet an entirely unexpected result came forth. Normally, I’d see only the near future consequences of my actions. But this time, I saw nothing at all—just a clear end of death at the end of all possible paths, with no way to avoid it. It was a prophecy, absolute and inescapable.
But why? How could it be? There was no way for me to understand what could lead to such an outcome. It was something beyond my control.
In disbelief, I tried using my ability again, only to find the same result.
It had been a long time since something shocked me like that. The child, oblivious, had approached and tugged on my sleeve.
"I found you."
So carefree. Out of sheer curiosity, I tried using my power once more, imagining I might run far and hide.
The outcome?
She stumbles in the forest, meets her end in an accident.
Unbelievable.
"Do you like hide-and-seek that much, mister? You made it hard to find you this time!"
If I erased her memory of me, what would happen? Is there still one who could do that? No—she might die before I even find such a person.
"And you know, mister, your head sparkles so bright! I can see it from far away!"
Technically, this isn’t my fault, but this really, really leaves a bad taste, doesn’t it?

Your Character in Five Quotes
( repost, do not reblog. )
Tell us your favorite quotes from your character. Give us an idea of who they are by five things they’ve said. Then tag your friends.
Tumblr media
"They're going to pay for making my little brother cry! I can't forgive anyone who makes my family cry!
"It's payback time, y'all! Now, where's my horny woman at?!"
"If you ain't got the power to do it alone, we'll be there to back you up!"
"There ain't no past or present with family. New or old, family is family."
"Giet, you always been my family! And you always will be 'til the day I die!"
Tumblr media
"You said that your creed was to never give up on living, no matter what may happen. If you really believe that... would you say that you're living right now? Because to me, you don't look like someone truly living."
"Laphicet, tell this self absorbed idiot what she needs to hear!"
"If it means getting my tunnels, I'll build an island, too."
"Damnation, Magilou! My sister doesn't have any guy clinging onto her! Do you know something I don't? Prove it! Bring him here right now!"
"There's nothing I hate more than someone else trying to control the direction of my life. My wheel is mine to hold. If I'm not the one steering the ship, then I'm not truly alive."
Tumblr media
"What's wrong? You look like you just swallowed a bug. ...Oh, wait, you always look like that."
"I hate teaching. I don't take apprentices. I don't impart knowledge."
"Hah hah. Are you trying to cheer me up? You've somewhat missed the mark... but I appreciate the sentiment."
"I would ask you to die, yes. If I were an emperor with a country to consider. But as your friend... I feel compelled to stop you."
"But no matter how much you change or regret your actions, not all of what you've done will be forgiven. That's why you must come back alive. Or rather... I hope you do."
Tumblr media
"I've traveled back in time from next week. Please stop throwing monsters at us."
"It should be. The crablette is the finest food in the world. In fact, I think they should make National Crablette Day!"
"This time I won't let them get hurt!"
"Hubert was shy... but he tried his best, and always worried about everyone."
"I dreamt I was riding in a huge blossomgale, and we went to a beautiful meadow where I fell asleep."
Tumblr media
"Have you forgotten what you said to King Ingobert about Natalia? Your memories of those seven years together were real. For you and your parents."
"You said you were going to start with what you can do, right? One person can't do much alone. But people can work together. I... we're with you."
"If you tell me you've made your decision, I'll trust that you've thought it through. But that doesn't mean I'll agree with your choice. If you make this choice, and the miasma disappears... I'll hate you. Everyone else may call you a hero, but I'll never forgive you."
"It will. Tomorrow... and the day after... and on and on."
"Hypothesizing about not having been born is meaningless. You're living your own life. Experiences that only you know. Feelings that only you feel. Don't deny them. You're here."
Tumblr media
"Arthur. I finally have an answer to your question. 'Why do you think that birds fly?' Birds fly because they want to fly. They don't need a reason. Even if their wings snap and doom them to die. They don't fly for anyone's benefit. They don't fly because they were ordered to. Birds fly because they want to, and for no other reason!"
"I… I loved them all…! I loved Laphi… and Celica… Arthur… Everyone… To have it all stolen from me… Why them? Why not me? It hurts so much...!"
"A reason? To spare the world of its pain? Don't give me that! Who will spare my brother's pain? Who will soothe my brother's despair? He murdered my little brother Laphi! And you'll stand there and tell me it was for the greater good?!"
"...Coo, coo."
"But that's exactly why I can't forgive them. Not Artorius, not Innominat… I know my heart is ugly, and full of contradictions. But those days we spent together in familial warmth, they're proof that I… that all of us… were truly alive. That's why no matter how hard, no matter how sad it gets, I will take my vengeance to the very end!"

Tagging: Whoever wants to!

(Soon, everyone got something to eat or drink. It was…not what they would’ve immediately expected, but it wasn’t bad. Alien, yes, down to the actual veggies used, but N-7000 did confirm that yes, they would be able to safely eat everything. Irida opted to have some tea and sat at a table that viewed over what seemed to be a dark desert, with what appeared to be more Ea in it…and then one at the Last Dregs came up to her to ask her something)
Tumblr media
Wise Ea: So, I suppose you have found the ethereal wonder that is the recreation of my people’s old homeland?
Irida, unsure of how to speak to such an alien entity: I…suppose so…to survive in such a desert must not have been easy, though…
Wise Ea: Perhaps during our species’ infancy, yet our intellect allowed us to overcome whatever threats may have persisted at that time. Such knowledge was also our original downfall, however.
Irida, confused: Original downfall? What do you mean?
Wise Ea: We were a wise people, our numerous discoveries serving to extend our reach of knowledge beyond mortal limits, giving our mortal forms up for immortal forms made of aether. However, we eventually found a horrible revelation, of the inevitable end of all energy. Try as we did, nothing we experimented with could deter such calamity. We lost all hope, unable to see any potential future with such thoughts of the end. Our immortal forms, one a blessing for mass development, became a curse. Thus, our original selves expunged what aether they did have, the only way they determined they could pass on, and thus we disappeared from existence before our recreation here in Ultima Thule.
Irida, shocked: I…I don’t have any words…
Wise Ea: I did not expect you to. Such a tale is no doubt horrifying. However, the one you know as Bradley eventually came, and defeated the one who made Ultima Thule what it is, The Endsinger, and freed a bird named Meteion from despair’s grip. This would free all of Ultima Thule from it’s grip, and through the actions of him and Jammingway, the Omicrons would, at the lead of N-7000 and Stigma-4, form the Last Dregs, to help inspire hope in others who came. During the process of making the Last Dregs work, they helped us Ea see hope again, which even led to what w consider physical proof of the future being bright despite the universe’s inevitable end. *beckons to a…jellyfish? It has a strange ring not unlike the Ea’s own “halo”* This, a Miw Miisv, was formed from the brighter thoughts of the future we now have. As such, we do what we can to ensure these children of ours grow to bring such a future, and for that, we thank those of the Last Dregs for helping us…see a brighter tomorrow.
(This was…strangely uplifting despite what was said before, and Irida wasn’t the only one to hear this story)
Irida: That’s…actually quite sweet. *smiles* I’m sure that you will succeed in this endeavor of yours.
Wise Ea: As to you with your endeavors. (Irida didn’t know if the Ea knew of what she was hoping to achieve, namely get back to her own time…but that was surprisingly comforting to hear, especially knowing the past of the Ea…)
Jackrow: It's...comforting to know that, despite how much sorrow has been brought, people still find a way to make things right or at least change to a more positive outcome...It's funny...Cosmic Sam has basically made almost the entire merged universe fall to its knees but there are people out there in our world still trying to live life to its fullest while trying to survive against the monsters he has created to bring torment and despair to all living beings.
Uzi: If only that "Homeworld" planet wasn't Cosmic Sam's very first "Broken" world...*The others who had heard/saw that tragic event had became silent after that...As if the very thought of it could cause something bad to happen*...Sorry, big mood killer.

Angst + Lil Fluff story
Tumblr media
Loving Quackity wasn't easy, you knew that. He had the fame of being a flirty-manipulator prick, and most of the people that came to the Casino you came across to, just came to have an opportunity to be with him, at least a one-night stand.
You always felt uncomfortable with this people's thoughts of having a change with your own boyfriend, and sometimes you couldn't help but feel like it would happen.
Quackity always hated the fact that people came to win him as if he were a stupid trophy. He had already been used by Jschlatt when the goat prick was alive. And even though he knew he fucked up the other two past relationships he had (His engagement with Eret first, and then the whole problem with his ex-fiancés Karl and Sapnap), he was completely happy to be with you, to the point that he promised to not do anything to fuck it up.
Too bad he didn't count your doubt on his loyalty.
And now it was a normal night; the both of you in Quackity's office at the Casino Royal. He was happy to have you there, being able to give you kisses whenever you were distracted and hold you hand, far from all the noise that his clients made.
And for once, he didn't imagine a bad future with his partner. For once, he didn't felt like he was going to suffer on a relationship, that he could have a happy ending with someone he loved. The sweet duck didn't realize you were there to broke up with him.
“Quackity, there's something I wanna talk with you”, he turned his head to you with a warm smile, paying attention to whatever you were going to say. You felt the words hurt your throat. “I wanna break up with you...”
He felt his heart shatter. Did he heard wrong? It had to be, right? You didn't just broke up with him, no?
His smile disappeared in the blink of an eye. He stared at you, trying to see anything from you that indicated that it was a prank. But he found nothing. You truly were breaking up with him.
“But- why? Did I do something wrong mi amor?” his voice emanated panic, despair. Where did he fucked up!? He couldn't tell. “I... I don't know Q. I just don't want to be an obstacle between you and the people that came to see you.”
He felt hurt. Did you really thought he would cheat on you? That he would replace you with a nobody-stranger that wanted to get in his pants?
Tears started to slowly run through his face, facing now his desk while hiding his face between his hands. You could hear sobbing from his side; was he crying?
“Q... Are you, are you crying?” you felt confused, alarmed. Was he happy with the news? Was he sad? You couldn't really tell. “Q-”, “Yes I'm fucking crying! You're happy now!?” he snapped, facing you.
He was heartbroken. And so were you once you saw how he was. “How would you fucking feel if your partner tells you that they want to break up with you because they don't trust you!? You really thought that I would replace you, —prefer over you— a nobody-stranger that wanted to fuck with me!?” he stood up, his arms being wide awake trying to have an answer, because he couldn't find it.
You remained speechless, both of you were crying and shaking for all the commotion. You felt horrible for doubting him.
Silence reined over the room for a couple minutes. Quackity had some-what calmed down, and went back to sitting on his chair. Visibly thinking of something.
“I'm still not accepting this breaking, y/n.” you glanced at him, his voice sounded hurt and sore. “But right now, it's not the best time to talk. Can we discuss this tomorrow?” he looked at you, his eyes being red for crying, although you could still see some tears running. You nodded silently and he sighed. “Good, thanks.” a weak smile appeared on his face, “now let's try to enjoy this night, sounds alright pretty?”.
And with that, you both spent the night at the Casino, in his office. Quackity didn't let go of your hand, and neither did you. You both had a lot to fix tomorrow.

↠ Pairing: Gojo Satoru x F!Reader
↠ Warning: anxiety attacks, pregnancy, manga spoiler! chapter 91 (for those who have not read)
↬ Word Count: 2k
Tumblr media
If death was giving you a sign at this very moment, it would be the cold ticks each second the clock on your empty apartment room echoed. Each second comes an outbursts of numerous emotions. On the first tick sent shivers on your skin, the second felt like small pricks of hair slowly rose up as goosebumps followed after, third was the frantic tapping of your foot on the carpeted floor as you bounced your leg.
On the outside, you would've been labelled as overreacting. On the inside, you were slowly dying.
As of now time felt like a never ending torture. It was a tug of war between trust in your husband or the one in your gut; a battle between mind and heart, to whom should you choose to believe in? How long do you plan on standing at the edge of the cliff not knowing the faith that has been laid out for you and the most powerful shaman? To whom do you concede to?
A critical position for you to be in. If Gojo were here beside you, not only would you have to wince at the feeling of his finger flicking your forehead, but also a round of uncharacteristic scolding about how bad it is to be stressed out or anxious because of the growing life inside of you. Well, none of this wouldn't have happened if he didn't left. But as all married couples are out there, you are one of the majority that did not want to tie their partners down from what they were meant to do. Especially if your partner is the most needed person in the world.
You couldn't tell him not to go out. Not out there on the field you've come to grow as a sorcerer yourself. The deaths of your fallen comrades and innocent civilians, the demands of the elders and powerful clans. Most of all, being part of the theatre death had directed. No one knows who'd be next to live another day or to be at forever slumber. And your husband was one of the main casts in this scene. Someone who'd always be near death's door only to keep taunting the horrifying God.
It was all fun and games before. It was either ride or die with Gojo during your youthful days. But as time progressed, and the upcoming family you both had dreamed of was at its peak, from that moment every thing came crashing down. It wasn't hormones anymore. It wasn't simple.
You were beyond terrified.
"Please come home."
Not even realizing you were already kneeling down from the couch you were seated, hands clasps together hard, the veins prodding out as if they were going to pop. A silent mantra of pleads to the unknown world you were stuck in. Chest heaving harshly, tears and snot mixing as they fell down the cushions. You didn't feel them. You couldn't see anything.
There was no way to describe the gaping hole that had swallowed you to your deepest depths of fear.
"Come home, Satoru.."
Was the last thing that had been uttered out from your lips before the dark hushes turned into soft cooes. The once imaginary prickly like nails that was scraping your body changed into gentle strokes on your back and onto your bulging stomach.
If there was no way to describe your fears, what is there to be said for the immense heart break of your own husband coming home to see you knelt down with cascading despair written all over your features? The image of the cheery, and powerful woman he's had of you now haunted by what he had came home to.
Though Gojo never had the brightest personality to everyone, he would trade every thing he has if it meant for you to be pulled out from where he had dragged you in.
He knew from the start loving you would mean a lot. You were every thing he wanted and yearned for in life. The love he always came home to. Cursing his naive self of erasing the fact that you were only human.
You had your limitations and this was it.
"Hey, wifey, shhh." the warmth of his breath next to your ear made you choke a sob. Having his body shield your smaller one from behind with his hands now trapping your still clasped ones. "I'm here, I'm not going any where. Not now or ever." his white hair tickling the side of your cheek as he rubbed the side of his face onto the your tear stained ones. If there was one thing everyone knew he was good at, it was being overly affectionate. Not that you'd complain.
His thumbs massages the back of your hands, smoothing down the veins in hopes of easing your grip. He should probably thank Yuuji for passing out hours ago, if not he'd be still stuck training the young lad and have you deal with this torment possibly longer. Even so, he was glad he had manage to finish up early. At your 7 month of pregnancy he wouldn't dare take longer. He didn't like being away, he never did. Always cursing at those who demand his presence. All he wanted was to stay home with you.
Home where everything is safe.
"Let's get you up, kay? May I carry you?" it was a shock on how uncharacteristically cautious he's become ever since your pregnancy. No one knew the Gojo Satoru knows when to tone it down on situations. It was all heart warming, you wanted to cry.
You gave him a small nod, feeling your body hoisted up from the floor and nested on top of his lap with ease. Never failing to amaze you how you managed to marry this man. The man you'd devotedly pray to the heavens would come back to you alive.
As his arms finally settled on your waist, moving at an upward then downward motion, he rubs your sides. Slowly coming to the globe of your stomach with a soft hum, he watches you deeply with a soft gaze behind his interfering blindfold.
Sighing shakily, you shifted your position a bit to the side, allowing yourself to lean your cheek on his left pectoral, listening to the rhythm his heart beat, sobs died down into sniffles and hiccups. You twiddled with his fingers placed on your stomach. The anxiety inside you barely disappeared, but tamed for the moment.
A light peck on your forehead was placed, snapping you back from the little world that had consumed you, down back in the arms of your beloved husband as he smiles and wipes away the left over tears, "Hi there, honey."
Focused on the warmth his palm emits, you reached out over his covered eyes, sliding away the blindfold, freeing the captivating azure gaze he possesses as they held nothing but love piercing back to your teary ones. His hair framing his adorning features, yet so perfect and lively he was smiling at you. The image of this man you wanted to wake up to every day. To welcome, to smile with, to live, and to love.
"Satoru.."
Cupping your cheeks in worry, the serene peace disappearing from him when his brows furrowed with his lips frantically hushing you. Parental instincts kicking in as he eyed your stomach in wonder how your dear child was holding up with the mountain of negative emotions crowding you, "Honey, you need to stay calm. Our little bun in there might have trouble baking you know?" he whispered close to your lips, foreheads leaned onto yours.
"Oh, Satoru." a broken smile formed from your quivering lips, "You're home, you're home." thumbs coming close to stroke his lids softly down to his cheeks. Fragile, that's how you'd describe yourself in touching your husband. Every day from the moment you lived with him are days you two cannot be separated from each other's lingering touches. Even so, on those days it still felt like it was too good to be true to have each other embraced away from the terrors of the world.
"I'm home, I'm home." sealing away your sobs with his lips to yours, letting you feel all of his emotions and unspoken vows within the action of only you two could share forever. The love he never knew he was capable of only for you and your child to be gifted of.
"I'm scared." pulling away as you shut your eyes. The dark hushes returning, coming back to haunt you of what is in store for tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, and so on. The strings attached upon you two, unknowing who was in control of your faiths. "Satoru, I'm scared. Please don't go anymore."
Confessing all of your troubles, he tightens his hold around you. Not a chance, he curses in his head would he allow himself to be defeated so easily and submitting himself to the awaiting gates of death.
"What if you don't come back to me anymore?"
Not a chance, was he going to die after happiness is just within his reach. Longing for something so surreal his entire life. He wasn't going out without having a taste of the sweetness of he now calls home in his life. Not ever. Not when he knows he's the strongest and will continue to reign as he is.
"Honey loves, I'll always come home to you." a vow he seals with the gaze he has locked with yours. The golden band that was proudly worn on his finger from his left hand above your stomach, "I'll always come home to you both, my sweet loves." a vow for only the two people in his life that kept him going. He will always keep his word by heart.
Though it was known that it wasn't enough to fully assure you. The comfort of today was much appreciated and needed for you to finally sigh out one last bit of the sadness, and giving him a teary smile.
"I love you, Satoru."
A melodic sound his heart would crave for every day. Definitely another thing worth coming home if he could hear it again and again.
Smiling mischievously, he reciprocates the feeling by stealing another one of your kisses whilst cradling your body and stomach. He wonders how long would it take for your baby to come meet him. He could hardly wait anymore.
"I love you more."
Was the last thing he had said before his eyes shut close to bask in the warmth and safety of his domain. His and yours little domain. One day to be shared with either a mini you or him between your arms, erupting small giggles into the air.
He couldn't wait to come home to that very day.
Not to wake up another second.
Or was it a minute?
An hour?
He couldn't tell. For time was unpredictable inside the realm he was kept imprisoned.
"Oh, another dream."
An old memory he has with you over months ago.
A breathy chuckle comes out. Was it another thing to mock him of his moment of weakness? Where he could do nothing but lay down and wait for he knows nothing of what could and what was happening?
His bones were on fire. The caged rage inside of him waiting to be freed as he could hear the cackles of his own enemies having to won over him.
"Come home to me."
No, they have not.
The fight was still going. He knows deep down as his faith on his beloved students remains strongly as his love and promises to you. Somehow, some way, he will get out. Like before, time is the enemy. He could only hope that you're holding up for the mean time. It was only matter of time you would be giving birth as well.
And he wasn't planning on missing out the biggest part of his life.
Nor was he planning on letting his enemies run free easily. They were going to pay.
He was going to pay.
"I'm coming home. Wait for me."
Thus begins the string of faith as every thing is set into motion.

May I please request number 12. Bite Marks and number 14. Carving for Nagito Komaeda? thank you so much :)
Will do! Thank you for requesting ^-^ I will give you some submissive yandere and trickster darling today. Tomorrow? Who knows. I will say, I’d rate it mature, but nothing really happens.
Bite marks - “You.. love me right.. not them? Oh god please say you love me..!!”
Carving - “Please! You can use me all you like don’t leave me!”
»»———————— ♡ ————————««
“I love you.”
The clanking of the food tray crashing to the ground was your smallest concern at that moment. You kept your eyes pinned to the ceiling, not acknowledging Nagito’s shock in favor of maintaining the surprise as nonchalant as possible. It wasn’t the time to give him satisfaction; it was merely time to make him fret a little.
“But Hajime... I’m not sure. I keep thinking about him. Wondering what he’s been up to since I left. Maybe that’s love too?”
The gulp he did was audible, as you mentioned his former friend. You had never tried before or even thought that it might affect Nagito to talk about your feelings, rather than the feelings you had towards him after he kidnapped and strapped you to a bed. His mouth opened and closed a few times as he wanted to say something, but aside from small croaks, nothing escaped from his vocals.
Ignoring the fallen tray, he walked back to your bed, standing beside you like the creep he was. Nagito staring down at you wasn’t a comfortable ordeal, and you never knew what he thought as he watched you quietly. Sadly, this had become too much of a norm to bother you anymore. Did he figure out you were pulling at his heartstrings with well-placed words and doubts? Would Nagito see through your lies?
Sinking to his knees, he leaned on the mattress, peering at you sharply. But him fidgeting gave away that he tried to play it cool while, really, he was just his usual self - a mess. Intrigued, needy, and most importantly, desperate for any acknowledgment from you.
“[Name], say it again,” he asked timidly, but he couldn’t hide the desire cracking in his voice.
“Do you think it’s possible? Loving two people?” you continued, undeterred by Nagito’s need.
Immediately, a hand snapped forward, moderating itself before it laid down on the cheek furthest away from him, pushing to have you turn your head. Finally, you looked at him. Immediately, you found the disgusting satisfaction he felt from receiving your gaze on him, plastered all over his face. “Say you love me again,” Nagito urged. You were disgusted by his touch, his thumb caressing your cheek so very affectionately, but you would take it if it helped fulfill your plan.
“But I’m not sure, maybe I love Hajime--”
“No, no, no!” he yelled suddenly. Before long, both hands were cupping your face in them while his legs climbed over you. “You said you love me! You love me! Me!” One moment, Nagito seemed pained by you speaking another man’s name, his hands shaking and eyes wildly searching for clues that would confirm him. But now that your mouth kept quiet, you saw a familiar yet strange sense of despair crawling into his expression.
“You.. love me, right... not him? Oh god, please say you love me!”
Nagito took a deep breath, and you knew that he’d begin to talk like a waterfall now, almost unstoppable. If you weren’t talking to him, he’d monologue as long as needed to calm himself and some more, getting himself off the desperation and desire he felt. But not this time, not when you wouldn’t let him.
“I love you,” you stated as a matter of fact. It wasn’t supposed to sound happy, nor outright like sarcasm, you had to declare it as if it was no big deal or Nagito would see through your charade.
“Ah,” he sighed, lips curling into a smile while his face flushed red. “You do love me,” he muttered, his expression gradually becoming more distorted from happiness. “You love me, too! Finally! I loved you all this time. Every second since we met, I loved you. I love you! You love me!”
Nothing you could have done against him leaning down, lifting your head as much as your restraints allowed, kissing you. He did it before, and as always, it was a sloppy, needy kiss, just this time, you moved your lips ever so slightly to reciprocating it. Spurred on by your actions, Nagito deepened it, moans shuddering over his lips while he kept demanding more and more. Disgusted, you gave it to him, let him have it. Waited for him to pull away first to take a breather.
He had closed his eyes for the kiss, but when he opened them again, you immediately caught them with yours. Panting against your lips, when he approached again, you denied him the kiss ever so slightly, causing him to whine softly. He had no reason to stop but perhaps, not wanting to be hated again, did it for him.
“Untie me,” you whispered seductively, pressing your lips to his briefly before pulling away, watching as he leaned in for more. “Let me love you, Nagito.”
There was so much fighting with himself, all of it showing in his expression. However, the part of him that didn’t think it was a good idea to free you slowly but surely lost to the one that wanted so desperately to be loved by you. Wholly and fully, and hopefully with remaining marks as to always remember.
This time when he leaned in for a kiss, you let him, pleased him by returning the affection. It was the test to see if you genuinely were devoted, some part of his mind careful of not being scammed by you. But with you two eagerly exchanging your breaths, his doubts melted away until he finally pulled his hands from your face to reach above you two, fiddling with the ropes around your wrists.
The tugs and pulls hurt, but it was nothing compared to the racing of your heart, the knowledge this was working. He really was freeing you. He really was doing it! You felt your hand collapse onto the bed the moment the rope stopped holding it in place. The wound was throbbing, but you only strained your neck to kiss him more, packed with excitement and urging him on. His hesitation before untying the second rope disappeared, and he began to loosen it even quicker.
“[Name]... [Name]!” he kept calling out to you as if you’d disappear if he didn’t speak up. You soothed his anxiety with your presence, allowing your bodies to warm each other, used all your strength to move your arm at least forward again. Nagito sunk into your palm even though you couldn’t use it properly.
Like a child into the affection of a parent, he was so damn naive.
It was just a matter of time now. You did it carefully, using him and his desire to be touched and caressed by you to train your hands, do what had to be done. Even if it meant you had Nagito rub all over you, impatiently waiting for more of your love and affection, you knew it would at least keep him unaware and well-disposed to the biggest part of your plan.
Finally, you managed to use your arms again. They still hurt and strained upon moving, but you took that in exchange for your freedom. Hugging Nagito, you fogged his mind with another deep kiss, pressing your body against him until he caved away, the position changing quickly. Now on top of him, you giggled and played along, pushing his arms back over his head and driving your hands over them promisingly.
“Let me tie you up, alright? I want to be the one giving you all the love. You don’t need to do even a single thing.”
Nagito froze, having the same kind of fight with himself that he had before untying you, but you simply cozied up to him, kissed from his temples to his chin. “Pretty please? Let me make it up to you and show you my love,” you purred, feeling absolutely disgusted by the pleading implications in your words. But whatever needed to be done, you were willing to do.
“O-Okay,” he finally agreed, shivering lightly while you grinned. “You’re such a good boy,” you praised him as you slowly but surely wrapped the rope around his wrists. “I love you, [Name],” he whimpered, trying to hide the pain he felt as you pulled the ropes skin-tight. “I know,” you pressed out from between your teeth. “I fucking know.”
Leaning back after securing the triple knot, you let your head fall into your neck, looking up at the ceiling one last time. You had seen it so much the last few days, counted all the holes in it and spiders crawling over it. But no longer. And you didn’t care if Nagito would have to rot down here for all eternity either. “What a shit hole,” you complained, inelegantly climbing off him and onto your feet.
Immediately dizziness hit you as you stood straight up again, but this would be the last thing stopping you now. Your legs seemed to have trouble keeping you on top of them, but holding on to chairs standing around and the walls did the trick, leading you towards the door. “[Name]? Where are you going?” Nagito called after you. “Hey! Don’t leave me--”
“Shut up, Nagito. It’s over,” you hissed back over your shoulder. “I am getting out of here! I am not staying even one second longer!”
“No... wait!”
The cold, iron door felt heavenly against your irritated skin. It felt like happiness and freedom, and you were so thankful for reaching it after everything you went through. By now, Nagito couldn’t see you anymore, but you heard him frantically tearing on the ropes. Luckily, they were solid and reliable, even after all the strain you had applied to them.
“Please! You can use me all you like, but don’t leave me!” Nagito screamed after you, and you could hear his voice cracking. He must have been crying, but you were the last one to feel pity for him. Instead, you pushed down the door handle, not wanting to spend one more second in this depressing room. You were so close, only one step away from it.
But the door didn’t open.
Rattling it, you kept pushing and pulling at it, growing more and more frustrated every time it didn’t move. You knew it could open. You had heard it work for Nagito more than once!
Nagito.
Glaring back, it was quiet in the room. He should have been bawling his eyes out by now, screamed, and begged. And yet, nothing echoed around you; only the small sounds of a chuckle reached your ears.
Furious, you stomped back to him, pushing aside everything that was in the way. “Where’s the key!” you screamed, repeating the question with every step. “Where’s the fucking key!”
When you reached him, all that remained on his face was something akin to a pitying smile, eyes that were no less condescending than yours were. “Oh, Darling,” he muttered. “There never was a key. We are in a bunker, underground, buried. The only way to get out of here now...”
Nagito paused, taking a deep breath, his smile only growing while you felt your heart drop and your last nerves popping. “Ah, beautiful,” he whispered, looking at you, knowing one thing for sure.
“How do I get out,” you asked him, trying to remain calm.
“It’s despairing, isn’t it?” Nagito replied undeterred, playing your very own game.
It was.
“You’re feeling absolute despair, now that you realize you are stuck here with me. And if I die, you won’t ever find out how to leave. Isn’t it truly beautiful? I am so lucky to be stuck with you now; even dying from your negligence won’t bother me, you know?”
“How. Do I. Get out,” you repeated your question, your voice shivering from anger.
“Ah, maybe I will remember,” he teased you. “But only if you give me the love you promised me. Pretty please? I know I am insatiable, but if you really want to know...”
Feeling your whole world crumble to ashes around you, you knew he would never tell you. If it even was true that you weren’t just in a storage depot or bunker- and you’d make sure by destroying this whole place in search of a key - you needed him to guide you to get out from the underground he described. Needed to do what he wanted you. Needed to love him.
And you wondered if right from the beginning, he had known what you planned to do and decided to play the puppet caught in your strings.
Little had you expected Nagito to be the puppeteer all along.

Ashes Remain - Chapter Eleven - Apollo Falls Silent
Tumblr media
~~~~
He didn't realize there might be a problem until the alarm went off on his phone. It was eight-thirty now, time to help Athena with her medicine.
He wandered around the apartment. No Athena.
Where was she? She was always back before dark. She told him she'd be making a visit after her appointment, and he assumed it was a visit to her incarcerated uncle. It was long after the prison's visiting hours, but no Athena.
He'd called her, twice. Two voicemails.
Panic was rising. His throat closed over. He needed to find her, or find a good reason to submit a missing persons report.
Juniper. Nope, nothing. The future judge seemed just as concerned. She agreed to try and find her, leaving Apollo free to continue his contacts.
Prosecutor Blackquill was going to have his head if dawn came and Athena was still unaccounted for.
He called Pavilion next. They confirmed Athena left around 2:30 that afternoon and was in a stable mental state. The receptionist took his information: that he was Apollo Justice, Athena Cykes' guardian, and that she seemed to be missing. Because of Athena's conditions, if she couldn't be found in an hour, Pavilion would report her as such.
He called Wright. Initially, his boss was a little annoyed at the late night call. The tune instantly changed once Apollo started talking.
"I can't find her, Mr. Wright."
"Athena? What do you mean you can't find her?"
"She never came home, she won't answer her phone. I called the asylum and they said she left this afternoon. They'll file a missing person report in an hour if I haven't called back."
"I'm coming, Apollo." Mr. Wright was at his door ten minutes later, a sleeping Trucy tossed over his shoulder.
He called her once more while Mr. Wright settled Trucy on the couch. A third voicemail. He scoured his texts, Athena's journals, anything that might explain where she went.
His heart hit the floor when his, Wright's and Trucy's phones all blared in unison.
Missing Endangered Person :
Athena Cykes, 18, Female
Orange-red hair in ponytail down to waist
Last seen near Pavilion Crisis Care wearing black tank top and grey leggings. Contact law enforcement with information on her location. More details on your local news station.
The above person has a documented disability and is believed to be in grave or immediate danger.
Clay called not even five minutes later. He apologized for not being able to visit Athena in the hospital, and gushed sympathy after sympathy towards Apollo for her sudden disappearance. "Dude! I got the alert! Anything yet?"
"No, nothing… Oh, Clay… tomorrow's your big day, you should be getting some sleep."
"Sleep?! My best bud's girl just flashed on everyone's emergency portal! Isn't that right, Mister Starbuck?"
"Course, Clay! She's our princess!"
"Princess? Clay, are we talking about the same Athena?"
"Aye, Polly-wog! Your girl's Miss Aura's daughter! Everyone who's close to Miss Aura calls Athena that!"
“Yes. I… know I don’t look it but… I’m a Blackquill. His niece.”
Ah, this Miss Aura must be Prosecutor Blackquill's sister.
"Yeah, she told me she was related to Simon Blackquill."
"Yeah, Aura really isn't taking it well." Starbuck was heard on the other end. "I heard her scream something through the walls of the robotic lab."
"Well, looks like I'm off to keep Miss Aura from destroying the entire lab in despair. If I see Athena around, I'll call you back. Keep me posted bro!"
That was the most enjoyable of his calls. He answered call after call as people who knew him checked to see if there was anything they could do. The Kitakis were the most surprising. The former mafia had seen Athena on the court proceedings channel and wanted to know if the same lady who was missing was Apollo's co-council from the academy case. He also suspected they'd dabbled in some rumors that certainly had to have emerged outside the legal realm, and wanted to know if they needed to pull a favor.
He thanked them for their concern, then told them he'd let them know if he needed their help.
The night ran long and sleepless. Mr. Wright tried to get him to sleep sometime long after midnight, saying that he’d shake him awake if any news came, but to no avail.
The sun rose, but Athena was missing and Apollo, sleepless. Worn beyond emotion, it took the rest of him to deal with a horrified and grieving Trucy. Although it stung to do so, he found himself incredibly frustrated with her reaction to Athena’s disappearance. How could she even think to grieve in his presence when she had slept peacefully the whole night, completely unaware of the situation until a few moments ago? How could she think to compete with his worry, when he was the only legal method keeping his beloved from a life in mental prison? Tear ducts run dry hours before continued their attempts to weep in tune with the pacing still digging its way into the rented carpet. He’d vowed before the eyes of the law and his beloved to protect her, to keep her from harm’s way, and he’d failed.
Dealing with Trucy took so much from his already exhausted body that, despite racing anxiety, rest came to claim him after she left. In fact, it held onto him so strongly that Mr. Wright’s shaking him barely rose his head.
“A Detective Briella Dunn called you. She said they’ve got some leads on Athena’s location. They got a call saying someone had seen her heading in the direction of GYAXA, and they’ll scour the whole area once the rocket launches.”
“Wha-” He pulled himself from the couch. “What would she be doing there?”
“You know she’s got those terrible intrusive thoughts… Maybe one of them had something to do with the Space Center and she wandered.”
“Yeah… Yeah, and she didn’t take her medicine last night… Ugh, if her head got control of her, who knows what condition she’ll be in once we find her?”
“Why don’t you go clean yourself up, Apollo? We’ll start heading that way. The area owned by GYAXA is off limits until after the launch, but there’s still some places we can check. I’ll call Detective Dunn back and see if she’ll meet us somewhere.”
Breakthrough in Bread Pastry Shoppe
~~~~
“Mr. Wright, Mr. Justice. I appreciate your urgency on these matters, but I’m not sure there’s much we can do at this juncture.”
“Are there any areas around GYAXA that aren’t shut down for the launch?”
“Mostly a whole bunch of nowhere. All of the clearings and areas between the main building and the launch are government property and off-limits until the Center reopens to the public. There’s really no reason she should be out in that area, if not for the Space Center specifically.”
Apollo continued mutilating the small bagel he’d purchased. “Have any of your leads suggested she was specifically headed for GYAXA?”
“Only a few civilian reports say she headed in this direction, but the timing was a little sketchy, so we took it more seriously than most leads.”
“Sketchy? How so?”
“Coincidentally, the missing Doctor Cykes was reported missing as a child, and the alert was only cleared this past winter when she was found in Europe. The HAT-1 launch occurred shortly before she went missing, and now she’s gone again for the HAT-2. Should there be any future HAT missions, you better keep a tight hand on her. You say she may have wandered due to intrusive thoughts? Odd, considering the very definition of such thoughts.”
“Well, the only family she’s told me about works there, and she’s been diagnosed with PTSD. It’s a stretch, but it's really the only theory we’ve come up with.”
“What such family?”
“A… mother, I think.”
An eyebrow raised from the detective before she stood from the table. “Excuse me, I’ll be right back.” The detective took a step just outside and talked over her earpiece intercom.
“Well, that was strange… as soon as you mentioned Athena’s mother, that detective got all out of it.”
“I know…”
“I’m sorry for that, but I had to inform my partner. As the missing party’s closest companion, your words make up a lot of our initial suspicions.”
“I-Is there anything odd about Athena going to see her mother?”
“Normally? No. However, if what you say is true, she’s gone in search of a dead woman, and she’s out of our reality.”
“Her mother is dead? She said her mother disowned her!”
“When did she say this, Mister Justice? Yesterday morning?”
“B-Back in October. Just before Halloween I think.”
“Oh, goodness.” Dunn buried her brow in her hand.
“She acknowledged her aunt works at GYAXA back in April. Could she have mom and aunt confused?” Wright tapped his glass’ rim.
“I’m sorry, did you say aunt? ”
“One Aura Blackquill.”
“A-Aura Blackquill, you said, Mr. Wright? I was under the impression Aura was her mother!”
“Aura Blackquill, the robotics engineer at GYAXA, is of no relation to the Cykes family. She was her mother’s coworker just before HAT-1. It seems Doctor Cykes has been dissociating for quite a long time.”
“Wait, no relation? Hang on, I heard this from the astronauts!” Apollo fumbled out his phone and replayed the recording of his conversation with Clay.
“-Isn't that right, Mister Starbuck?"
"Course, Clay! She's our princess!"
"Princess? Clay, are we talking about the same Athena?"
"Aye, Polly-wog! Your girl's Miss Aura's daughter! Everyone who's close to Miss Aura calls Athena that!"
"Yeah, she told me she was related to Simon Blackquill."
“How odd… I can verify those are both the HAT-2 astronauts. But I can also verify no blood relation exists between those two families.”
“The Chief Prosecutor himself told me Simon Blackquill was a relative of Athena’s. However, she told me Aura was her aunt , but obviously Apollo and the astronauts were told she’s her mother. Yet, no blood relationship exists?”
“I… personally ran the blood reports on the Blackquill trial. It was the first thing the prosecution wanted on record. I found no blood or legal bindings between the families. Perhaps there are some unconventional, friends-of-the-family ties that could grant aunt and uncle titles, but Doctor Cykes can’t be trusted on the matter. The likelihood she’s dissociating is just too high.”
“So what do we do?”
“Still nothing we can do until the launch. We need Aura Blackquill now to discover if Doctor Cykes really was on a search for her departed mother, or if she just wanted to visit Ms. Blackquill and got confused. But all this talk wasn’t for nothing. We’ve all learned a little more about what might have gone on inside her mind when she went missing. I’ll call my partner and tell her we’ve extreme suspicion Doctor Cykes is somewhere on Space-" The green light on her headpiece began flashing. "Oh! Who’s calling me at such a time? Hello?” Once again she stood from the table. “What? There’s been an explosion? Two? You’re evacuating to the shelter? No, I’m not on site, Amy, I’m with the Cykes party. I was just about to tell you to search the grounds. Yes, I can see that won’t be happening. Let me know what Arme reports when she returns. Yes, I’ll be on site in about an hour, we still need to search the grounds for the woman. Amy, the sky could be falling for all I care, I have reason to believe she’s dissociated. Yes, I’ll send you a picture of what she looks like so you can search the shelter. I’ll touch base with you in five minutes, I need to inform my party here. I’ll call you back.”
“Where are there explosions?” Dread consumed Apollo. ‘It’s not at the Space Center is it?”
“I can’t disclose that information right now, I’m sorry. I’ll search for your loved one, but the Center will not be reopening. I’ll call you if I have any new information.” With that, the detective was gone.
“Mr. Wright! Did you hear that?!”
“I did. But unfortunately, she’s correct. Until we’re assigned a crime scene, or have some valid reason to go charge that way, we technically can’t go check it out. The whole place must be swarmed with cops right now. I think the best thing we can do is go back to your place and wait it out. ”
“We’re fine, right, Mr. Wright? Everything’s just fine!”
“We’re fine, Apollo. Finish up at your own pace, then we’ll go home.”
Unfortunately, he didn’t get the chance to make that decision for himself; his phone went off moments later. “Yes, this is Apollo Justice…”
Moments froze as his eyes widened and lip quivered. “Yes… thank you… I’ll… be there…”
One beep from his phone as the call ended, and Apollo was in shambles all over again.

A brunette sat on the cement. The tan folds of his coat fluttering out behind him. The wind brushed his hair from his face, it stung his eyes and brushed his skin with bitter cold air. His fingers dripped the brightest shade of crimson. His eyes had dilated and shook with shock and fear. The skin his hands desperately held, already losing its warmth. Lips stained the color, as well as the outfit that resembled his own. Those blood-stained lips coughed final words before letting go. How, how had this happened? Why had he never predicted this? Why would you ever do this?
He knew those answers like he knew his own crimes. After all, how could he forget? He’d been the reason you fell, he’d only denied it for years.
The sun fell softly along the stone. A boy, no older than 15, walked along the stone edge of a bridge. His brown locks flying within the wind whilst he adjusted the bandage over his left eye. He paid no mind to you, even as you walked behind him. Your feet carried you on the safer ground, next to the edge. It was common to find the two of them like this. You were always with him, whenever you could be at least. He never seemed to notice you were there; You didn’t mind it though. The rare moments where he did suddenly ask you questions were enough. Rushing to close the distance between you and him, you caught a glance of his eyes darted to the side. He was looking at you, the single eye that showed seemed puzzled, before he parted his lips to talk to you; His arms opened at the same time. Skipping around steps, he smiled, “Hey, why are you still following me, woman? Don’t you have a better hobby than stalking me?” so he did notice you at times.
Flustered you froze before chuckling with a light hum. “No, not really Dazai-san. I think you're interesting! You're the only one I can't read.” you were referring to your ability. It wasn’t much, so you weren't too high up in the ranks. You could read thoughts, see their feelings in the form of aura, and manipulate that aura. So far, you could make people freeze up and lose themself in an overdose of emotions. Also known as individual illusions created by their auras; things only they could see. It was hard to believe you were even in the mafia. Your bubbly appearance and lack of interest in killing made you look harmless. You never killed, but when you worked with another they sure had an opening to kill.
Dazai leaned down so he leveled with you. “I wonder, have you ever thought of using that ability to induce such outrageous depression, one acts on it?” blushing you took several steps back shaking your head.
“N-no, sir! I d-don’t think I could do that. Well, if Dazai-san really wanted me to, I-I could try it for him!” What were you saying? Knowing this demon prodigy, you’d probably end up not meeting the expectation and ending up punished. Though, would that be so bad?
He puffed his cheeks out, jumping from the edge to land in front of you. With a half-smile, he flicked your forehead. “You keep doing the opposite of what I predict. I really can’t get a read on you.” turning away you covered your face.
“I-is that a compliment?” you mumbled, looking through your fingers. He shrugged, jumping back to the ledge. His eyes lost their glimmer as he looked down. He seemed to be judging the distance; With a heavy sigh, he looked back to the sky.
“If only this was a little higher. I think falling into the water and dying right away, without the pain of falling to the ground, would be okay. I’d drown unconscious, how peaceful that would be.” you didn’t respond as he turned and began walking again.
~
Year after year you walked by his side, growing with him. Slowly that bubbly gaze began to fade ever so slightly. The fun-filled times like the day on the bridge no longer existed.
My head is haunting me and my heart feels like a ghost
Standing next to the demon prodigy you stretched out your hand with a sigh. “Ability: vortex of emotions.” from the shadows you worked alongside him. The enemy's hands reached their head. A perching scream echoing as they turned their gun to themselves. Looking to the side your eyes met the brunettes; They were colder than they were a year ago. Sighing, he raised his pistol and shot. He pushed past you, and you followed numbly.
I need to feel something, 'cause I'm still so far from home
Entering the box he called his home, his hands grabbed your waist pulling you towards him. His fingers lifting your chin. The flutter of your heart pounded against your chest, the closer his face came to yours. “You really should stop following me everywhere. If you won’t at least try to kill.”
Cross your heart and hope to die. Promise me you'll never leave my side
Nodding as he released you, he sat at his desk. “Mori won’t be happy that we clocked out so early.” he leaned back groaning. “Found a new suicide method? I don’t want to deal with his annoying voice tomorrow!” his older persona slipped through. The light in his eyes spread before it disappeared with your silence. Yet despite that, there was a caring hint to his posture. The way his hands moved softly, how he traced your bow. How he exhaled with a sigh when you closed the door
Show me what I can't see when the spark in your eyes is gone
~
Another year went by with a soft ease. You stood in Mori's office, a blank expression on your face. You were sure you were dead. Messing up like this, letting somebody get away. You were shaking, unsure why your breaths still rang. The doors opened to the brunette mafioso. Dressed in all black, a short ginger walked at his side. The way your emotions suddenly changed was unnoticed by everybody but Dazai. His eyes set in glares as you looked away. Your heart raced, why was it you still felt like this? He treated you as a pawn, yet you still ached to kiss him. Mori blamed your failure on Dazai’s lack of discipline with you. “I’ve been more than lenient with how she follows you around. If this happens again, it will be you who pays the price Dazai.'' Why did this have to happen in front of the ginger? His eyes looked at you with sympathy. It was weird to see such a thing. Dazai rolled his eyes stepping closer to the ginger as his eyes darted to you. Puffing your cheeks out you looked away.
Once you were in his office, he practically pulled you by the ear. Pushing you to the floor with his frustration. “I don’t understand why I keep you around! All you seem to do is put me in situations that bore me to death!”
You've got me on my knees I'm your one man cult
You looked up with begging eyes. “Please, I’m sorry Dazai-san! Please forgive me! I’ll do better! Please don’t leave me.” he was the first person to ever make you feel real emotions. Fear, excitement, lust, love, heartache, despair. He gave it all to you.
Cross my heart and hope to die Promise you I'll never leave your side
It was an unexpected look, an unexpected plea. His eyes showed excitement. “There, there’s the reason! You can’t stop doing the opposite of my expectations, every time I think you’ll do something, you manage to shock me, even in this kind of situation! I wonder, would you commit suicide if I died? It would be so unexpected!” his voice was full of wonder as he lifted your chin using the front of his foot.
Looking at him he smirked. He'd known, all along, about your feelings. He teased you all the time, but maybe he could finally get an expected reaction from you. It would be possible to toy with you. Maybe then he’d be satisfied with you. “Would you ever be only mine? Something only for my eyes?” with wide eyes you nodded.
Cause I'm telling you you're all I need I promise you you're all I see
With a smile, you brought your hands to press against your chest. With a desperate smile, your eyes filled with that childish light from when you were 15. “Even if I'm only being used for your satisfaction, it would be all I need! You're the only one for me." Once more he was shocked by the response. Nearly losing the balance he had, his hand reached to his face a soft snicker leaving his lips.
“You’re utterly helpless.” he hummed, removing his foot from under your chin. “Come here darling~” he was certainly stressed today. A little fun wouldn’t hurt, right? “Tell me you’ll never leave.” he hummed holding your chin within his fingers. The blush on your cheeks darkening in your complexion.
'Cause I'm telling you you're all I need I'll never leave
His lips met yours. Shivering you closed your eyes, letting a tear fall. You wished he truly loved you back.
~
Another year passed, you stayed by him no matter what he did. He was crueler than ever. He often left you at night to go hang out in a bar. Those nights were lonely but a ginger often peeped in to see you. “You look like hell.” he would always tell you how messed up you looked. “Why do you stay by him?”
The images passed by your head. The boy you fell in love with. The young 15-year-old. The one with a smile that would show itself here and there. The young boy who jokes around, the carefree one. You picture the feeling of his fingers over yours. Cold yet so warm in those years.
So you can drag me through hell If it meant I could hold your hand
“I love him.” you hummed watching the male drop a bottle of wine in your lap. He walked out leaving the gift. He knew you understood how cruel he was. He had never really pitied anybody before but you… you were something he pitied. A demon prodigy's toy, your relationship was nothing more than toxic.
I will follow you 'cause I'm under your spell And you can throw me to the flames
Sipping on the wine you drank yourself drunk. “I love him… he loves me. I love him. He loves me, I know he does. I’ve seen some softness in those harsh eyes.” you wiped the tears looking up to the ceiling. What had you gotten yourself into? Why did your heart have to play you like this?
I will follow you, I will follow you
~
He stood looking so conflicted, broken, and unsure. It wasn’t the first time you saw him without the bandages but it was the first time your dull lifeless eyes saw him this vulnerable. “Figures, you do follow me everywhere.” his voice was blank of anything; You could no longer read his voice.
Come sink into me and let me breathe you in
It was true, you needed him, so of course you followed him everywhere. “Go, we’re done! I’m not going back! This is all Mori's fault! He’d be alive if it weren't for inviting that damn organization here!” he was upset, yet he seemed so confused. Like a child, he had no grip on what he was feeling. Was he angry, grieving, sad? He couldn’t tell.
You ran to him wrapping arms around him. “I will go with you! I will follow you!”
I'll be your gravity, you be my oxygen.
You'd hold him down during this pain. You’d help him achieve whatever it was that he needed. “Even if it is death, I will not leave.”
So dig two graves 'cause when you die I swear I'll be leaving by your side
With a soft sigh, he pushed you away. “That changes nothing, follow if you have to but I never loved you.” you backed away smiling you curtsied.
“I know Dazai, I know you never did and never could. You are a demon prodigy, one that can’t understand his own feelings. I wish I could help, but your gift cancels mine out.” your voice was sweet as honey, but he shed you no more glances as he walked away. Following him, you sighed.
~
Two years later your empty eyes sat at an agency desk, you'd bought an outfit to match his. Those feelings refused to leave you even after all this time. They surged more than ever. He was like his 15-year-old self again, different but at least there was life in his eyes. He laughed and flirted just as he did those years ago.
So you can drag me through hell If it meant I could hold your hand
You looked to the cafe waitress’s hand, then your own. How you wished to be her. You stood up, walking out and to the office of the agency, sitting in your chair, Kyouka walked up to you. She once had your eyes. Dull, lifeless, broken, but then Atsushi seemed to save her. “Do you love him?” she asked tilting her head as you looked from your phone to her, you sighed.
“Yes, but I'll suffer for life over this. I had my chance and now it’s gone.”
I will follow you 'cause I'm under your spell
She set down a small piece of paper. “I found this.'' She tried to give you a smile that wasn’t pity. They often asked why you always looked so disturbed. Maybe it was the fact you were really all alone now?
And you can throw me to the flames
A tear dropped from your eye. Something, a feeling you hadn’t had in so long. It was worth it, these empty dull years. “A tossed away letter to apologize.” you held it to your chest.
~
I will follow you so you can drag me through hell If it meant I could hold your hand
You found yourself alone on a mission. This was assigned to both you and Dazai, but he had other things he wanted to be doing. Neither of you knew how dangerous this was. He had not batted an eye at this mission. It was simple, a simple recovery mission. A ransom kidnapping, simple in and out. You could handle it without being seen. You ached for the warmth of his hand. A little light lifted your eyes as you stepped into the building.
When his fingers opened his phone accepting the call, he nearly fell over dead. The mission you were attending wasn’t a retrieval; It was a set-up. Despite how careful he'd been, somebody had found out about you. More so his past with you. His mind was too focused on you to think of who let it slip.
I will follow you 'cause I'm under your spell And you can throw me to the flames
Dazai pushed past the doors too late. This was his fault, all of this. The loss of your true self.
I will follow you, I will follow you I will follow you, I will follow you
You'd always said you would follow him. It was always like that. He had taken years to figure out why he never ignored or let you go. He was selfish, he had grown attached. Ango and Oda had even offered the thought. The thought that, maybe in this heart; swallowed by black, he loved you.
It was his turn to feel desperate as he dropped down. The blood flowing from your stomach in spurts.
So you can drag me through hell If it meant I could hold your hand
He held your hand in his while also trying to keep the bleeding down. “I’ll get help! Just hang on, we just need Yosano!” it was the first time your heart slowed like this; The first time you could read him like a book.
I will follow you 'cause I'm under your spell And you can throw me to the flames
Your hand was growing cold, your breathing staggered. You looked to be in so much pain. “No, I won't be that long. You should leave, you don’t love me so…” your voice trailed off as your head tilted to look at his cheeks. Tears… there were tears.
He shook his head pressing your hand to his forehead. “I will follow you.”
Your eyes widened as a light chuckle left your lips, “I will follow you.” you hummed, as the crimson left your lips. He was forced to watch you die in his arms. There was one final look on your face. A giant smile, a real smile on your lips. “I love you Osa…” then, you were gone.
Another, another friend in his arms, dead. No, you are more than a friend. “I… I love you.” he’d never said those words, and it didn’t matter now. There was no going back. He held you to him, cold and motionless.
Somebody from the mafia had done this. Somebody would probably be Mori… he’d dropped this low before, it wouldn’t shock him if he were trying to drive Dazai to murder again; To get him kicked from the light.
For you, for the wish left by Oda, he wouldn’t let himself fall that low. He’d be strong.

Notice Me
Request: Hey Millie :D As I said before, I am subtly crawling my way into your inbox for the first time. After carefully combing through everyone's masterlist, I realised none of you lot had my baby Oliver Wood. So, here I go. Can I please request an Oliver x Reader fic, a bit maybe angsty, but happy ending where the reader is hot tempered and likes Oliver, but he is too invested in quidditch to realise her feelings? Thank you, hun ^^ - @heloisedaphnebrightmore
A/N: My first Oliver fic and it’s for the Queen of his fics! I’m only a tad nervous!!! Thank you so much for trusting me with this request, I have loved writing it even if I am uncertain about his characterisation. ALSO I have shamelessly stolen a nickname from Outlander as a way to fuel my crush on this particular scot. As always, I hope you enjoy!
Pairing: Oliver Wood x Fem!Reader
Warnings: swearing, angst, panic BUT FLUFF AND OLIVER BEING A CUTIE
Word count: 2.3k
Tumblr media
The ticking of the clock insisted on taunting you by getting slower and slower as the lesson progressed. Your knee began to bounce as you counted down the minutes until the bell rang and you could leave the classroom.
You throw your things into your bag as you rush out of the classroom; all the time hoping he would be waiting.
“Sassenach,” A thick Scottish accent calls out, “Where do you think you’re going?”
You grin at the familiar sight of Oliver Wood waiting for you outside the classroom; leaning up against the wall, hands in his pockets with the sleeves of his uniform rolled up. You approach him; his hand outstretched for your bag which he shoulders when you hand it to him.
“You know,” You start, “You’re going to get in trouble for calling me that.”
He smirks at you, “I don’t think I will, I’m too loved for that to happen.”
You nudge his side with your elbow, “I don’t believe that for a minute, Wood.”
Oliver throws an arm around your shoulders, pulling you into his side, “Hush you, let’s go get some lunch, I’m starving.”
You laugh, “When aren’t you?”
“I’ll have you know; I’ve got to be big and strong as Captain of the Quidditch team.”
You snort, reaching to his other side and squeezing his bicep, “Sure you are, Ol. You’re big and strong.”
“You wound me, woman.”
“Take me to lunch, Wood,” You giggle.
Oliver pulls away from you, bowing down to you, “As you wish, my lady.”
You shove him to the side, but he comes back to you, his arm landing back on your shoulder, “You’re a shit, Oliver.”
“But you love me.”
-------------------
Falling for Oliver Wood happened fast. It happened fast and it left a mark.
It happened between one blink and the next, you’re sure of it.
Thinking back to it, it had to happened when he smiled at you one morning in the Great Hall through Sixth Year. His smile lit up his entire face; bringing out the innate kindness that radiates from within his very core. His brown eyes sparkled and between one drink of orange juice and the next, you had realised you’d fallen in love with your best friend.
Simultaneously, everything made sense and your heart stuttered with the fact, but your stomach dropped, and your mind went into overdrive.
Did he already know?
Was he just pitying you?
How would he react if he found out?
Does he feel the same?
You worked through each question internally; barely finding enough to answer one of the questions suitably.
So you let yourself sit with your feelings, wondering whether they were just a temporary crush.
A year later, they hadn’t disappeared, and it was no longer a crush.
--------------
You loved Oliver Wood for a lot of reasons; he was kind, he was charming, he was attractive, and he was passionate.
Especially about Quidditch.
But it seemed that he only had eyes for Quidditch, and whilst you love his passion for the sport – making sure you attend every match and helping him plan strategies, you just wish he would notice you a bit more.
For the last month, conversation only seemed to revolve around Quidditch and its strategy and its history.
And as much as you love the brunette, there was only so many times you could be brushed over before deciding enough was enough.
----------
It came to ahead on a Saturday evening. For the fourth evening in a row, Oliver was ranting about Quidditch strategy and whilst you appreciated the passion he has for the sport – it being one of the things you love about him – you wish you could have a conversation about something else.
“Oliver?”
He hums in answer; still extremely focused on the piece of paper in front of him.
“I need to talk to you.”
He hums again, eyes still on the paper.
You clench your hands into fists, willing yourself not to ball up the paper and throw it into his face. You clench your teeth, “Yeah, I was thinking about asking out Marcus Flint from the Slytherin team.”
It was a petty attempt at jealousy. It was a petty attempt at getting a rise out of him.
It was a desperate attempt to get his attention.
“Oh?” is all he replies, crossing something out on the page, writing a name above it.
It’s then that you realise, Oliver probably isn’t going to ever see you as something more. He’d only ever see you as someone to discuss Quidditch strategy with.
The realisation feels like a blow to the face, and you rock back in your chair from the force of it. You look at Oliver, but he hasn’t noticed a thing. Why would he? He’s bent over the strategy for next week’s match; figuring out the team’s weak points and thinking of solutions.
You blink fast; the sadness coursing through your body and bringing tears to your eyes. It felt as if your heart had been ripped out and smashed to pieces on the very floor of the common room for the entire house to lay witness to.
Yet for them, nothing has changed – they continue to talk, to study, to laugh.
For you, everything’s changed.
And the room is becoming too warm and the walls are becoming too close. It’s all too much, and you need to leave.
You need to get out now.
Clearing your throat, you whisper, “I’m going to bed, I’ll see you at some point tomorrow.”
Oliver waves still bent over the plan for next week. He didn’t notice the way your voice breaks, or how vague you were when saying goodnight.
Rising from your seat, you fight back the gathering tears until you’re in your room.
There, you let them fall in heart-wrenching, chest crushing sobs. Mechanically, you take off your robes and replace them with your pyjamas. Your blind to it all; the tears falling too thick and too fast for you to see clearly.
With your wand in your hand, you brokenly whisper a charm to close the curtains surrounding your four-poster bed, desperate for the privacy in which you could let yourself fall into your pit of despair and hopelessness.
You feel ridiculous for having fallen for someone who’s first love would always be a sport. You hide your face in your pillow; letting the cotton of your pillow case muffle the sobs that will not stop falling from your mouth.
--------
The morning brings sore eyes and sad looks from your dorm mates who had heard your muffled sobs and put two and two together pretty quicky. You smile at them, softly apologising, before taking your things to the bathroom to clean yourself up.
There you get a look at the damage. Your eyes already seem duller; the colour dimmed from the agony of your realisation.
Enough, you berate yourself. You have shed your tears, and now it was time to figure out the next move. As you’re brushing your teeth, you think over your options.
You could talk to Oliver but the idea of potentially ruining your friendship has you backtracking.
Running a brush through you hair, you have another idea. You could simply work to get over Oliver whilst maintaining the friendship. You had been friends for over a year before you started having feelings for the Scot; surely you could return to friendship, right?
---------------
Breakfast feels stilted and awkward on your end; you pick at your food; your appetite having disappeared overnight.
Oliver watches you with a funny expression on his face. His eyes flicker between your face and the full plate of food in front of you, “Sassenach, are you alright?”
You want to cry at the use of your nickname, “I’m okay, Oliver. Just not feeling very well.”
He reaches across the table and presses the back of his hand to your forehead; feeling for a fever or anything to explain this change, “You feel fine…” he trails off, eyebrows furrowed.
You bat his hand away with a short laugh; your temper attached to a short fuse with how little sleep you got on account of crying late into the night, “Oh hush Oliver, you are a worrywart! I’ll be fine when I get to class.”
Oliver frowns at your outburst and at the way you bat his hand away from your forehead. He doesn’t get to air his concerns though; you grab your bag, taking a sip of the orange juice, “I’ll see you later on.”
For a long time after you leave, Oliver stares at the doors of the Great Hall wondering when exactly he had started to lose you.
-------
The week passes slowly; like trudging through the deepest mud.
Every time your mind slipped into a daydream with him featuring at the main character, you brought your focus back to the lesson and your work. If this carries on, I’ll have the highest grades in the year, you thought to yourself sarcastically.
You pull away gradually; protecting your heart from the inevitable heart break should Oliver ever find out about your feelings.
He makes it hard though; he continues to meet you outside classrooms and will always carry your bag whether the load was light or heavy – he always insisted. He carries on with the little touches and grabbing your hand at random parts of the day to pull your attention to something he’s noticed, and he always, always talks to you about Quidditch.
And all you want to do is scream at the teenager for making it so damn hard to fall out of love with him. For making it so hard to stop the racing of your heart or the daydreams from your mind. For making it so hard to stop the butterflies that erupted with each lopsided smile and his pronunciation of your nickname.
But you don’t; you remain silent, wondering if he’ll ever notice the shattered remains of your heart caged in your chest.
-----------
The day felt like it was going to be uneventful; if this what getting over Oliver felt like then you were tempted to ask for a refund.
Your lessons pass slowly; the Professor’s making it their aim to drag out the teaching material until the very last moment before NEWTs.
When the ball finally rings signalling lunch, you place your things in your bag mechanically, swinging it onto your shoulder as you leave the classroom.
You sigh as you notice there’s no sign of Oliver waiting for you. You blink back the sudden onset of tears; this was your call, you berate yourself.
You don’t see who grabs you until your pulled into an empty classroom.
You glare at the familiar brown eyes of Oliver Wood, “Oliver!”
“What’s wrong with you?”
“I’m not sure I know what you mean,” You state, head held high, eyes never leaving his.
“Bullshit,” He shouts, “You’re pulling away from me and I don’t know why.”
“Are you serious?”
“Yes, I’m serious. I miss you. What’s happened for you to pull away like this?” He asks, his voice breaking a little.
Hearing that break in his voice, you want to take him into your arms and apologise for letting him think the worst.
But your head overrules your heart.
“For Merlin’s sake, Oliver! How could you be so blind?” You cry out.
“Blind? To what?”
You take a deep breath, steeling yourself for your next few words, “Oliver, I like you. As in more than a friend.”
His eyes widen as he takes you in with entirely new eyes.
The silence is deafening; it’s pressing down on you like a heavy stone. The weight of it making it somewhat hard to breathe. The longer he’s silent; the worse it gets for you.
“If you’re going to reject me, you better get on with it,” You snap; dread settling in your gut like a lead balloon making your short temper, shorter.
Oliver seems to shake himself out of his trance at your words, “Why would I ever do that?”
You throw your arms wide, your bag falling to the floor, “I don’t know… because you don’t feel the same?”
“But I don’t… I feel the same.”
Your arms drop to your sides, “What?”
Oliver nods, “I feel the same.” At your bewildered expression, he continues, “I thought you knew.”
“Oliver, you don’t notice anything unless it starts with the letter Q and ends in H.”
He frowns, “That’s not true!”
“Oh? Prove me wrong then, Wood.”
He grins at the challenge, “I noticed you. I haven’t noticed anything but you since we became friends. Merlin, (Y/N), I’ve been in love with you since Sixth Year when you told me to get myself together after we lost a match against Hufflepuff.”
His accent gets thicker the more he talks; he’s getting worked up and the brogue becomes something else.
“Since Sixth Year?” You interject, a small smile breaking out across your face.
Oliver nods, blush painting his cheeks.
You sigh out a breath of relief, “Thank Merlin, I’ve liked you since then too.”
“Then why were you pulling away?” He asks in a hurt tone.
You drop your eyes, “It was my way of trying to get over you.”
“Get over me?”
“It didn’t work!” You rush out at his hurt look, “I don’t think there’s any getting over you.”
Something resembling relief falls over his face, and your heart flutters at the sight of it.
Oliver takes your hand in his, tangling the fingers together. A simple action but one that held so much promise.
He takes a step closer to you; his other arm circling your waist.
You decide he’s taking too much time.
You drop his hand to wrap both arms around his neck pulling him down for the kiss you’ve both hungered for, for so long. He laughs in surprise, but his arms quickly circle around you, his lips responding to your hungrily.
“So you’ve always noticed me huh?” You ask when you finally pull away, a teasing lilt to your voice.
“Sassenach, how could I not?” is all he replies before kissing you once more.

Summer | Fall | Winter | Spring | Summer, Once More
TBZ Masterlist | Interwoven
Tumblr media
~ in summer, a stranger comes home
. . . . .
It’s the middle of summer when your mom delivers you a little piece of seemingly innocuous news, a piece of glittering information wrapped in old magazines and tied with cheap string to disguise its sparkle. Her voice literally vibrates with excitement when she tells you, which probably should serve as a warning or a signal of some sort, but in your defense, you’re tired from a day of classes and research programs and just want to eat and die.
“Our old neighbors are coming back!” she bursts, a spring in her step that you haven’t seen since the day you were accepted to your current prestigious research camp. “You know, the Lees who used to live next door?”
You blink once, then twice before the information sinks in. A memory settles at the front of your mind. “The Lees?”
“Yes!” She smiles widely. “I missed Yuna so much, I can’t believe she and her family are actually moving back. Don’t you remember, you used to be such good friends with Juyeon?”
More blurry memories of playing in the grass and dancing in the living room with a chubby little boy flash through your mind. You remember playdates that turned into study sessions in middle school, study sessions that disappeared when Juyeon moved away. And though you’d like to forget it, you remember sobbing your eyes out the day he left at the end of summer, the weather turning to fall. Sunflowers were blooming that day, wreathing your lawn in an unfairly bright ring of yellow as you wrapped him in one last hug before his father started the car and the family drove away.
“Mhm,” you only say, taking a box of cookies out of the cupboard. “I remember.”
“Won’t it be so much fun for you two to meet again?” Your mother’s smile turns suggestive as she side-eyes you. “You two were always so adorable together. Didn’t you once say he was your boyfriend in kindergarten?”
That memory makes you cringe. “Thanks, Mom, I was doing a really good job of forgetting that before you mentioned it.”
“Oh, hush.” She shoos you out of the kitchen. “You two were so cute together. I have no doubt you’ll be the best of friends again when they come back.”
“I haven’t seen him in four years, Mom,” you remind her. “People change.”
A glint comes into your mom’s eye. “Maybe so,” she replies cryptically, “but some feelings remain.”
Okay, so in hindsight, you should’ve taken a lot of what she said as a warning that your life was about to get flipped upside down by Juyeon’s homecoming. But with everything already on your mind, you more or less forget about the news until one day towards the end of summer, when your dad tells you to come straight home after your classes.
You stare up at him over your bowl of cereal. “Why?” you ask, mouth full.
“You don’t remember?” Your mom sits down just across from you. “The Lees are moving back in today, and we’ve invited them to dinner!”
Your brain buffers for a good few minutes before you finally recall your dad saying something about “dinner with the Lees when they come back” a couple weeks ago. “I didn’t know they already came back.”
“Well, they are.” Your mom’s fingers tap on the table with excitement. “You have your research, but we’ll be helping them move back in today, and then they’re coming over for dinner. We’ll probably already be home before you get back, so try not to look too messy, okay?”
Wincing, you remember the several still-recovering formic acid burns on your forearms from several days ago. You can’t hide those. “I’ll do my best,” is all you promise.
So that afternoon, instead of staying behind and chatting with a few friends, you find yourself walking down the sidewalk to the front of your house much earlier than usual. There are new cars in the driveway next door.
With the sunflowers beginning to bloom on your and your neighbors’ lawns, it feels eerily similar to the day Juyeon and his family left.
A slight wave of nervousness roils in your stomach. Quickly, as you walk up the pathway to your house, you try to untangle your hair with your fingers, straightening out your shirt as best as you can. As tired as you are, you don’t want to make a bad impression on your parents’ good friends. You don’t exactly want to look horrible in front of Juyeon, either. Even though he probably doesn’t have any idea what you look like anymore.
With a deep breath, you grip the doorknob and twist. It’s locked.
Frowning, you look down at the unmoving handle. Your parents must’ve locked it by force of habit when they came back.
So you knock.
Literally nothing could have prepared you for the boy who opens the door several seconds later to your pounding. He’s tall, muscled, with fine features and a curious look in his eyes, and he looks vaguely familiar.
For several seconds, the two of you just stare at each other, neither saying a word. As you’re trying to figure out why a really hot guy is at your house right now, a much more familiar woman appears in your line of vision, smiling widely as she holds out her arms to you. “Oh, my!” she cries, pushing past the boy to wrap you up in a hug. “I haven’t seen you in so long! You’ve grown so much!”
“Hi, Mrs. Lee,” you reply, still trying to figure out who the tall boy is. It isn’t until she starts pulling away that you realize he has her nose and her eyes.
Huh?
Then –
Fuck.
Oh, fuck.
Oh, fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck.
You nearly stumble back into the door from shock. “JUYEON?”
. . .
Juyeon thought his feelings for you had disappeared, he really did. When he moved away and thought he was never coming back, he took the love he’d held for you for so long, put it into a box at the back of his heart, locked it, and threw the key away. And as the years slowly passed, one after another, the box slowly disappeared from the forefront of Juyeon’s mind. He never forgot about it, but memories of you eventually stopped plaguing his mind day and night.
But that box never disappeared, not really. He thought it did, thought it dissolved into nothing over the years. Instead, it stayed, small but there, waiting for the right moment to burst and flood his body with the feelings he’d so carefully packed away so long ago.
That right moment is apparently when he opens the door to see a face he really never thought he’d ever see again.
Juyeon doesn’t recognize you, not at first. At second glance, he can pick out some distinct features that stayed the same (namely the sparkle in your eyes that hasn’t changed, even after all this time away). But during those first moments when he opens the door, he just stands there, trying to figure out who this person in front of him is.
Then it hits him, and the box of feelings explodes just as his mom starts pushing him away to wrap you in a hug.
You clearly don’t recognize him, judging by the curious looks you keep giving him over his mom’s shoulder. That makes Juyeon self-conscious – he hasn’t changed that much from when he left, has he? – and the embarrassment only compounds when you stumble back into the door, eyes widening as you yell his name in shock.
So, suffice to say, the conversation between you two at dinner is almost nonexistent. You look like you want the ground to eat you alive in your seat across from Juyeon, eyes barely looking up throughout the whole meal, talking only when someone asks you a direct question. Meanwhile, Juyeon’s stuck in his head.
Why, he despairs, didn’t these feelings actually disappear? Why does he still want to look into your eyes, get lost in your gaze like he used to so many years ago? Thoughts spin in circles in his head, thoughts of how you’ve changed and how you’ve stayed the same and how, oh God, his heart still races like no tomorrow when you meet his eyes for the briefest second before looking away out of embarrassment.
Juyeon needs a moment. He needs a moment to breathe, to think, to reason himself through this whole situation, which is why he volunteers to wash the dishes after dinner. Your mom starts praising him for being a perfect son and he dutifully lowers his head in embarrassed acknowledgment, thanking the heavens that he’ll have a moment to actually think, before she then looks at you to ask, “Why don’t you help Juyeon too?” and the world starts crumbling around his feet.
In perfect tandem, the two of you start picking up empty plates and bowls and carrying them to the kitchen sink. The adults make their way to the living room, laughing and chattering loudly, which only makes the potent silence between you two more prominent.
“I can wash,” you offer awkwardly, still barely able to look Juyeon in the eye (which is perfectly fine, because he thinks he might combust if you do just that). “You can dry? If you’re all right with that.”
“Yeah, that’s fine.” Juyeon tries to flash a smile, hoping it isn’t too shaky (the thumping in his heart makes it feel like the world is trembling around his feet). As the water runs and you start passing plates over to him, he does his best to ignore how close you are, how easy it would be to accidentally brush your arm with his.
Silence reigns until half the dishes are dry, and then you open your mouth. “Sorry about earlier,” you blurt, embarrassment and shame visible on your face. “I, uh, didn’t recognize you at first. Freaked out for a second.”
It’s surprisingly easy to laugh at that, to laugh at a statement that’s so blatantly you. You still haven’t changed, Juyeon thinks – you’re still the same bluntly apologetic friend he was in love with four years ago. It cheers him when your lips begin to turn up at his burst of laughter, face still embarrassed but beginning to warm with some happiness. “It’s okay,” he says, drying the next plate. “I didn’t recognize you either, not at first.”
“Well, I guess we can say that we’ve both changed,” you acknowledge, finally looking up fully.
Your smile could bring legions to their knees, Juyeon thinks. It certainly stops his hands from drying the next dish – in fact, he almost drops it. Even though the curve of your lips is small and he can’t see all of your teeth, the sparkle in your eye more than makes up for it. “Yeah,” he breathes. “Yeah.”
The two of you scrub dishes for the next few minutes in quiet again. Juyeon has no idea what you’re thinking, but he’s just trying to calm the beating in his heart.
This is not how he expected to feel when he moved back. Not at all. What he’s feeling isn’t even just everything he locked away at the end of seventh grade – somehow, the emotions have multiplied, compounded over years of neglect, and now he’s getting the full force of it.
“My mom wants us to be friends again,” you say, breaking the silence once again. “What do you think about that?”
Um, what the fuck is that supposed to mean? Juyeon thinks. Do you want to be his friend again? Or are you only trying to be nice to him for the sake of your parents?
“Well.” Juyeon bites his lip. “If you want to be friends again, I’d like that. But if it’s, um, just because of your mom, we don’t have to.”
At that, you smack a rubber-gloved, soapy hand against your head, shrieking slightly when you realize there are suds in your hair. Juyeon laughs, really laughs as he hands you a towel from a nearby rack. “God, I’m a fucking mess,” you groan, wiping the bubbles from your forehead. “Sorry. I didn’t mean that. I don’t want to be your friend again just because of our parents, that was just the only way I could think of to bring up the topic and yeah, I should’ve thought this out, I’m a fucking idiot.”
“Didn’t you get into one of the most prestigious research camps in the country?” Juyeon counters, hands moving automatically to take the towel from you and wiping off the suds himself. “You’re not an idiot.”
“Yes, I am.” You sigh. “I think it’d be nice to be friends again. If that’s fine with you.”
With your words fluttering in his heart, it takes Juyeon a good moment to realize he’s been standing with the towel pressed against your head for a full few seconds. Heat rising to his ears (he hopes you don’t see that), he quickly wipes off the last of the bubbles and returns the towel to the rack. “That’d be nice,” he echoes softly. “I’d like that.”
The smile you give him, tentative but much wider than before, makes Juyeon feel like he’s flying. He’s so far gone, he thinks, drying the last dish. He’s only seen you again for a few hours, and already your smile has him feeling some kind of way.
He’d follow that smile, he thinks. He’d follow that smile anywhere, just like one of the sunflowers on your lawn outside chasing the sun from dawn to dusk. That’s all he is, after all. A sunflower, following the light of your smile.
And as you look up, eyes scrunched as he says something to make you laugh, Juyeon doesn’t think he minds.
Not in the slightest.

See You Again (English version) Newt x Reader
(English is not my native language so excuse me if there is any mistake)
Tumblr media
Finally they had made it. The Right Arm, the end of the Scorch, the end of hell, the end of WICKED. They didn't believe in it anymore and yet here they were, all sitting on the rocks high above the ground, contemplating the people who were gradually packing up the camp in order to leave tomorrow at dawn.
Y/N had delicately placed her head on Newt's shoulder in order to make the most of their newly acquired freedom. She could finally allow herself this simple gesture without having the impression that it was not the moment. Indeed the blond had confessed his love for her just before they fought the grievers to get out of the Maze but with the battle, Chuck's death -at this thought the girl's heart tightened- and the crossing of the Scorch they had never had the opportunity to live their relationship fully. And here, with her cheek on his warm skin and her nostrils impregnated with his masculine scent, she felt like she belonged. On top of that she was with her friends and that's all that mattered. Rather with a part of her friends sadistically reminded her brain as if to tarnish her sudden joy... It is true that many of her companions had died so that they could get there and she could not forget it. First there was Ben, a close friend of Minho and her, as they were all runners; then it was Alby's turn, their leader and their guide, to disappear. Then Chuck's sacrifice, which she still had a hard time getting over -maybe not as hard as Thomas, but still- and at the same time Gally's death, which saddened her, and then the last death, Winston's. Y/N still remembered his death and the way he had been treated. Y/N still remembered his screams when those damn cranks had lacerated his belly and that tragic gunshot that meant the death of their friend. At the thought she couldn't suppress a shiver.
-Y/N, Newt's voice suddenly rang out, waking her from her lethargy. Are you all right ?
He was surely aware of her silence and her shivers.
-Yes do not worry, she answered by playing gently with the fingers of the blond whom she fixed with a nostalgic face. I just thought of all the sacrifices which we had to endure to arrive here and of all the close ones that we lost.
Newt looked at the girl pressed up against him with a mixture of love, compassion and sadness in his brown orbs. He understood exactly what she was getting at, after all Alby was one of his best friends and he would never know they were out of the Maze. Yet he also knew that if he could do it again he wouldn't change a thing if it meant he could be here with her. It was with this thought that he gently lifted her face with his fingers under her chin to plunge his eyes into her Y/E/C ones.
-I know how you feel, we all feel it here. But you know as well as I do that we wouldn't be here without them, and maybe what I'm about to say will sound completely selfish, but I'm glad we're both here.
As an answer she gave him one of her sincere and radiant smiles that illuminated her beautiful face damaged by the dust and the sun. The blond wanted to bend down to kiss her sweet lips but Minho didn't count on it and took the girl by the armpits and made her turn in the air.
-Did I hear Princess depressed ?
-Minho ! Y/N shouted, ripped from the sweet embrace of the former second in command. Put me down right now or I swear I'll throw up on you !
-Better you throw up on me than on your loser boyfriend's mouth, said the asian boy proud of him. Don't you think ?
-Her loser boyfriend fucks you.
Newt had wanted to take a stern voice but he failed miserably far too happy to see his girlfriend and his best friend playing like children and laughing so lightly. It reminded him of the happy times he had spent on the Glade away from the horror of the outside world. Frypan must have been thinking the same thing because while the two of them were still running around behind each other the former Galder's cook approached the blond.
-I miss the Glade.
-Me too, Newt admitted. But now that it's all over I'm happy.
-Yes, it's all over, Fry murmured with a smile.
As the two troublemakers returned to sit with them breathless from their childishness Thomas arrived to join them, Chuck's statuette clutched in his fingers. There was a sudden silence as nostalgic thoughts undoubtedly resurfaced.
-If only Chuck could have seen this.
It was the brown man's voice, full of immeasurable sadness. Slowly Y/N put his hand on his shoulder in compassion as Newt cleared his throat.
-He would be so proud of you, Tommy.
The nickname made Thomas smile softly as he murmured a "yeah" in response. He missed little Chuck terribly, but was grateful to have Newt, Minho, Y/N, Frypan and Teresa by his side. He wondered where Teresa could be. He felt the need to see her and to hold her in his arms as the blond did with his friend. He was going to ask where she was but he was cut by Frypan who greeted Aris by shouting.
-l kinda like that kid.
Minho gave a septic look to Fry showing his disagreement with him.
-Yeah. I still don't trust him, though.
His remark made the blockards laugh, recognizing the typical suspicious behavior of the Asian.
-Minho in all his splendor, ladies and gentlemen.
The former keeper of the runners looked at the only girl of the group by raising his eyebrows then he smirked which never announces anything good.
-You, he began, pointing at her. Believe me I smell you ! You smell like klunk !
Suddenly a mini scream was heard coming out of his mouth as Y/N had just hit him in the shoulder.
-I call mistreatment of Asians racism, Frypan said.
-Thank you bro, Minho thanked him, pretending to cry. We understand each other !
After a new laugh from the blockards, Thomas remembered the question he wanted to ask before they debated Aris. He then turned his jet-black eyes towards his comrades.
-Hey, where's Teresa ?
Y/N frowned a little at the name. From the moment this girl arrived, she had found her strange and her doubts had been reinforced during their crossing of the Scorched Earth, but except for Minho and Newt, whenever she talked about it with someone, they told her that her suspicions were simply based on a feeling of jealousy because she was no longer the only girl in the group. Nonsense! The proof was that she got along very well with Brenda. But the girl with Y/H/C hair preferred to keep quiet and ignore the question unlike her boyfriend.
-Yeah, the blonde answered, pointing to a sharp rock in the distance behind them. She went up there.
The brunet thanked him with a nod before leaving hurriedly to meet her. They were all aware of Thomas' feelings towards his blue-eyed goddess and although the others didn't care -except maybe Minho who didn't hold Teresa in his heart- Y/N had a bad feeling.
This was confirmed when shortly afterwards bergs belonging to the WICKED began to arrive in the distance. The girl's heart began to pound ferociously as adrenaline and fear mingled within her. They had only just regained their fucking freedom!
The gladers only reacted when the first bombs hit the camp floor.
-Let's get moving, Minho yelled at them as he got up and headed downhill right into the action.
Y/N followed him after a last loving and fearful glance at Newt. Screams, blood and fire surrounded them now as they made their way to Harriet and Vince in search of weapons to fight with. Vince handed the gladers guns.
-Can you use these ?
They nodded and prepared to fire.
-Cover me, shouted the leader of the Right Arm.
So it was with fear but adrenaline that they stood around the van containing the machine gun and began firing at the WICKED soldiers. The rage of life they felt left little room for guilt, even though they would have deaths on their conscience.
-There are too many of them, Minho despaired.
They were running out of munitions and the asian's realization gave them an extra wave of fear... This was the end, WICKED was winning. As Y/N searched her pockets for ammunition she heard Vince's deep voice ringing in her ears just before she felt a wave of electricity run through every inch of her body and then she fell into unconsciousness.
When they woke up, the gladers were in a line, among the other WICKED subjects, kneeling and weakened. Y/N stood between Minho and Newt and looked at Rat Man with all the rage she felt. She had to look away, however, when a soldier came up behind her, scanned her neck and announced.
-A3.
This is what she was reduced to. A fucking number, like an animal. They were dehumanizing them as if they were nothing more than livestock. WICKED was intentionally forgetting that they were just teenagers. This realization made her clench her fists and teeth. Her impulsiveness was getting the better of her.
-Where's Thomas, she heard Rat Man ask.
And before she could stop herself, her rebellious and impulsive side surfaced.
-Up your ass, you rat-faced bastard !
A silence was created on the battlefield. Newt looked at her reproachfully as Janson turned red with anger. He approached the girl and before the gladers could react Rat Man took her by the arm and threw her into the middle of them all. And as she tried to get up from the ground, she was kicked in the abdomen, making her regret her stupid behavior.
-You want to play it smart ? Well you're going to regret it kid, he then turned to one of his colleagues. Did you say that we had almost all of them ?
Y/N saw the guard nod as she began to get really scared.
-Good, Janson seemed to be pleased as he loaded his gun and pointed it at her. I guess no one will mind if I kill one of them then ?
The salt-and-pepper haired man was preparing to shoot under the incessant shouting of the gladers and the threats of Newt when Thomas appeared.
-I'm here.
Janson then diverted his attention from the young girl who went to snuggle in the arms of her boyfriend. The latter held her against him as if his life depended on it.
-Everything's fine, he whispered in her ear, trying to reassure himself. I am there.
During this time the brown one also took a blow of the part of the Rat Man then was placed at the sides of Minho who looked at him dazed.
-Why didn't you run ?
-I'm tired of running.
His statement seemed to cast a sort of veil of hope over the blockards and Y/N lifted herself a little from the blond to give Thomas a discreet smile. He was right, they should stop running. However, her smile quickly faded when another berg appeared and landed a few meters away from their position, bringing a sense of fear back to the group.
Ava Paige. The woman with platinum blonde hair who was supposedly dead and was the head of the WICKED. Their worst enemy was standing in front of them, staring at them like the test subjects they were in her eyes. She ordered Janson to start the boarding and that's how the different teenagers were dragged towards the berg. So far, none of the gladers had been taken. However, Ava stopped in front of them and made Thomas stand up.
-Good evening, Thomas.
Was she making fun of him? She put him in a damn Maze, sent him to a city full of cranks and hunted him down to say a simple good evening ? The only thing the brunette could think at that moment was "go to hell" but he preferred to keep quiet and look at her, a defiant glare stuck to his face. However all trace of insolence flew away when Teresa appeared at the side of this woman.
-I don't believe it, said Minho, standing up.
-Teresa, Frypan murmured in astonishment.
-But what's going on here ? asked Newt lost.
-She's with the enemy, Thomas suddenly said in a voice devoid of emotion.
Y/N couldn't stop a nervous laugh from coming out of her lips as a huge hatred took place in her heart.
-I knew it, she whispered, realizing she was right all along. You are a fucking traitor !
The blond realizing that his girlfriend was once again going to put herself in a sensitive situation placed his arm in front of her as if to protect her and prevent anyone from hurting her. He would not allow it.
That was the moment Janson chose to intervene.
-Teresa's always had an evolved appreciation of the greater good. Once we restored her memories, it was only a matter of time.
-I'm sorry, she began as the gladers looked at her accusingly. I had no choice. This is the only way. We have to find a cure.
Thomas lowered his head feeling his heart tear as the girl he was in love with drove the stake of betrayal deeper into his heart. He wanted so badly for this to be just a nightmare yet he knew it was real.
-And a cure for your bullshit ? Minho interjected with his usual sarcasm. Didn't you find it ?
-Drop it, Minho, added Y/N. All it would take is a little loyalty and humanity.
The dark-haired girl looked down but ignored them royally as Ava confirmed her words. The latter was trying to convince them that she was not a monster and that she just needed more time. But Marie, the camp doctor, spoke up.
-And more blood !
-Hello, Marie, said the blonde woman as the female doctor approached. I hoped we'd meet again. I'm sorry it had to be under these circumstances.
-I'm sorry about a lot of things too, Marie cut her off. But not this. At least my conscience is clear.
Unlike Teresa, Y/N thought furtively before concentrating on Ava's answer.
-So is mine.
A shot rang out, cutting short the exchange between the two women. And the said Mary collapsed on the ground under the desperate cries of Vince and the murderous glance of Janson. While looking at this scene with teary eyes, Thomas understood what he had to do. At this thought his breathing became more panting and the tension in his muscles more oppressive. He waited for the WICKED to begin boarding them before pulling out a bomb and threatening to detonate it.
-Everyone stand back, Janson ordered his soldiers, his stress mounting. Hold your fire !
-Let them all go, Thomas shouted as Rat Man tried to talk him down.
Janson, Ava, and even Teresa all began to talk to him to make him listen to reason, not realizing that they were only reassuring him of his decision. Moreover, the gladers, at first overwhelmed by the events, began to understand why their friend was doing this and it was resigned that Minho came to Thomas' side and nodded to show his support. He was followed closely by Frypan, Newt and Y/N who hold hands with the blond man.
-We're with you, Thomas, said the latter, taking his girlfriend in his arms for a last embrace.
-Do it Thomas, added the asian to cover the protests of Teresa and Ava.
-We are ready, made Fry by holding the shoulder of the brown.
-It's the end, finished Y/N by pressing a little more strongly the blond in her arms.
After a last glance towards his friends Thomas turned to Teresa.
-We're not going back there, he declared while shaking before preparing to release the bomb. It's the only way.
Suddenly, as Ava Paige's scream resonated as if to prevent the explosion, a horn went off, stopping Thomas in his tracks. It was Jorge who drove like a madman into one of the WICKED helicopters, leaving the members of the Right Arm the opportunity to disperse and defend themselves.
-Are you all right ? asked Newt, concerned about the well-being of his beloved.
For all answer Y/N nodded her head before joining the others and suddenly getting down on the ground while Thomas had just thrown the bomb on the members of the inter-governmental organization. As they got up, they went in search of weapons to fight with. Brenda was defending them from the top of the cliffs like a sniper. She had managed to hit Janson in the shoulder, which made Y/N smile and find a gun. Hope made her heart beat again and gave her enough adrenaline to fight.
As for Vince, he went back to his machine gun, shooting at the WICKED soldiers and at the same time quenching his thirst for revenge for Marie's death. It was total chaos. The gladers were running for cover, covered by Minho and Y/N who were the only two of the group to have acquired weapons. They found some debris to hide behind about hundred meters away.
-Keep going, the asian shouted. We got you !
-Be careful ! Newt asked worriedly as they ran to their hiding place.
-Don't worry about us, the girl tried to reassure him.
Thomas suddenly arrived running, he passed behind his two friends to join the others. It was the last one they could retreat. Y/N then began to run towards her friends when she realized that the asian did not follow her.
-Minho, what are you doing ? she shouted to him already six meters away from him.
-Go ahead, go ahead, he replied, shooting at a soldier. I'll catch up with you !
She continued her race trusting her best friend when she saw him taking an electrifying ball of the WICKED and falling on the ground shaking of spasms. She shouted his name and asked him to get up and join her. She heard her friends in the distance doing the same but the former keeper of the runners was close to sink in the unconsciousness. She then turned her gaze to her friends in the distance and then to Mihno who was beginning to be carried away. One last time she looked into Newt's chocolate eyes and mouthed a final "I love you" as he understood her intention and shouted at her to stop. It was too late, she had made her decision, we don't abandon our friends. She then faced the asian and started to run towards him as fast as she could. She could feel her heart racing as she shot at the two guards holding her friend. Once she reached him she let out a sigh of relief and with great effort and a few more drops of sweat she managed to lift Minho off the ground. She then looked up at her friends' hiding place and began to sprint. However, as she saw the hopeful looks on her friends' and Newt's faces, she felt an excruciating sting in her back and electricity paralyzing her. She then fell on the sand and dust while letting out a cry of agony which was replaced very quickly by the cry of despair of her favorite blond boy.
The latter seeing the girl he loved being taken away by the WICKED wanted to intervene but his friends understanding that it was over held him back with tears in their eyes and their hearts in pieces. And it was under their desperate looks that the berg enclosing their friends started to fly away while Janson threw them a last triumphant smile while holding firmly the unconscious body of Y/N in his arms.
-Bastards, Newt shouted, on the verge of a nervous breakdown. You bastards ! Bring them back ! Come back ! Give her back to me !
Thomas went over to him to put his hand on his shoulder, but as surprising as it may seem, the blond threw himself into his arms and cried against his shoulder. Usually the second in command kept everything to himself and did not share his sorrows. He never expressed his sadness, but this was too much for him to bear. When Y/N had arrived in the block just after his suicide attempt, she had been a breath of fresh air for him. She had been his little dose of hope and he needed her. He couldn't lose her.
-Tommy, he said in a firm voice, looking into Thomas' wet eyes. Promise me we'll get them back.
-I promise, Newt.

And When I am Formulated, Sprawling on a Pin - Chapter Eighteen: Do Not Go Gentle
Hello again! Welcome to Chapter 18 of this Chishiya x OC/Reader fic. So many of you loved the ending of the last chapter, I hope you like this one too.
There are certainly some... revelations coming to light.
You can find the full fanfic and this chapter here on AO3 too. Enjoy <3
---------------------------------------------
The rooftop was usually quiet at this time, but not today. The ruckus below could be heard for miles, cheers and laughter stretching across Tokyo like sunlight. But even the sunlight left shadows in crevices and alleys.
Legs dangling off the roof, I watched on as Hatter, flanked by Aguni and several militants, got into a car. He waved and blew kisses at the swathes of Beach residents. It was one big show, nothing but superficiality as the Beach’s king headed off into battle. The sun bounced off his ring as he kissed a woman’s hand, the blinding light only serving to darken his sunglasses.
‘Not joining the party?’
I didn’t bother turning at the familiar voice. There was a rustle of fabric as he sat down beside me, leaving enough space between us that it wasn’t uncomfortable.
‘I’m not a party person.’
As the car pulled away from the hotel, my eyes drifted to Niragi who was standing by the hotel door. He looked visibly irritated, most likely because of the fire that had spontaneously started in his room the night before. Apparently, he’d gone on a rampage, throwing accusations and pinpointing certain names. In an attempt to calm him down, An had used her forensic background to sweep the room, only to find no fingerprints, hairs, or traces. Niragi had been seething ever since.
‘I’m guessing you heard about what happened,’ I tried to hide a smile. ‘Somebody tampered with the plugs of his bedside lamps while he was in the game last night. Whoever it was cut through both the earth wires and messed with the live wires.’
Like many of the other lamps in the hotel, they had metal casings. And because the bedside tables were made of wood, it didn’t take much for the metal to overheat.
Chishiya let out a content sigh. ‘There were no fingerprints. It could have been faulty wiring.’
‘That’s true,’ I said, thinking back to the box of disposable latex gloves in Chishiya’s room. ‘Though it’s one hell of a coincidence that it happened to both the bedside lamps.’
‘But not impossible.’
‘No,’ I said softly. ‘It’s not impossible.’
He reached into his pocket and held out the taser. ‘It wasn’t too bad. Just a case of rewiring it.’
Holding it in my lap, I felt instantly safer. ‘Thank you.’
We fell into companionable silence, me watching as Hatter drove off into the desolate Tokyo streets, and Chishiya mulling over whatever crazy calculations were running through his mind. Eventually, when the car disappeared into the dust, the Beach residents retreated back to the patio, continuing as usual as they waited for the return of their king.
‘Hatter’s going to die in this game, isn’t he?’
‘Of course,’ Chishiya said. ‘That’s why I’ve invited Arisu up here with us.’
‘You’re going to include them in the plan?’
A faint smile ghosted his features. ‘Did you think you were special because I included you?’
‘Of course not. That’s ridiculous.’ It was ridiculous, and yet something unpleasant twinged in my chest at the thought that it wasn’t just me, him and Kuina. It begged the question, if he wanted help from Arisu and Usagi, why did he bother with me? ‘Chishiya, I know I’ve asked you this before, but why did you bring me here?’
‘If you’ve asked me before then you’ll already know the answer.’
The answer was that I was useful to the Beach, but something told me it wasn’t the true answer. There was something I was missing here, if only I could figure out what it was.
‘No,’ I said. ‘Why did you really bring me here?’
He didn’t reply, but I could see him considering the question, thinking of all the different avenues he could take to answer it. Lucky for him, he never had to, as the rooftop door swung open and Kuina stepped out, followed by Arisu. He looked pained, as though he’d seen a ghost, but when he saw me, his expression filled with recognition.
‘I remember you from the Tag game,’ he said.
I gave him a smile. ‘も覚えています.’ I remember you too.
He relaxed slightly at seeing a familiar face, but when he turned back to Chishiya, there was still some mistrust there. ‘You and Kuina wanted me to come up here. What’s going on?’
Chishiya and I got to our feet, and I was reminded a little of the time when I had been invited up here too. Only now, my bruises had healed, and Chishiya and I were on good terms again.
‘I’d like to ask you one thing,’ Chishiya said, his tone calm and calculating as always. ‘How do you plan to live in a world that’s so full of despair?’
Arisu seemed visibly surprised by the question. But I wasn’t. I knew Chishiya enough to see that this was a test. What the answer was didn’t really matter. It was all just a way for him to gauge Arisu’s personality and analyse which parts of his nature could come in use. Seeing this test being used on someone else, I wondered how often Chishiya had deployed the same tactics on me.
‘I’ve come this far,’ Arisu said, ‘and I just want to know who’s behind all of this, who I should get revenge on. And if there’s only one person who can leave, I want to make sure it’s Usagi.’
Usagi must be the name of the climber girl.
Chishiya smiled. ‘It’s a good answer.’
‘でも、悪い溶液だ,’ I said. But it’s not a good solution.
Kuina strolled along the edge of the rooftop. ‘In order to leave, you and Usagi would have to win game after game and become number one. It’s impossible.’
Arisu’s face fell, although he must’ve known this deep down already. It was impossible to win every game, and despite how much we talked about surviving, Kuina, Chishiya and I would probably die before then. The odds were against us.
‘It has nothing to do with you guys anyway,’ Arisu said, defensively.
‘We think you have potential,’ Chishiya replied, looking out in the direction where Hatter’s car had disappeared. ‘That’s why we came to find you earlier.’
‘Potential….’ Arisu’s confusion was illustrated all over his face.
‘What if I said there’s a way to change the status quo all at once?’ Chishiya casually suggested, and Arisu’s eyes widened.
I drifted in and out of understanding as Chishiya explained how the tensions between the militant sect and the idealist sect were growing stronger, and that Hatter would probably not return home from his game today. Arisu’s nervous reaction was too open, too trusting.
He wears his heart on his sleeve. That’s why Chishiya picked him.
‘What are you planning?’ He glanced between the three of us.
Chishiya’s smile was terrifying. ‘I plan to steal all the playing cards,’ he said. ‘We’re leaving the Beach.’
And just like that, Arisu was hooked. Trapped in the net of manipulation so carefully laid out for him.
Chishiya was a trickster. Now that I could his tricks laid bare in the sunlight, it was more obvious than ever before. In my head, I ran through all the conversations I’d had with him, but there was nothing that stood out as obvious lies or half-truths.
And he’s always helped me. He screwed with Niragi’s lamps and started that fire. He didn’t have to do that… it can’t have been for nothing.
As if sensing the conflict within me, Chishiya’s eyes locked onto mine from across the roof. They were guarded and distant, with just a hint of something warmer, and a little voice in my head told me it wasn’t real, it couldn’t have been real. Yet it didn’t stop my heart from shuddering, or my face from glowing under the sunlight.
And all at once, I realised I was just as stuck as Arisu.
---------------------------------------------------
Later that day, Hatter failed to return from his game.
It was information kept within the executives out of fear that the Beach’s residents would panic. Naturally, Chishiya had told Kuina, Arisu, Usagi and I, not that it was a surprise to any of us. Apparently, gunshots had been heard in the area, but the only witnesses around were militants, and each and every one of them swore that Hatter died in his game.
There was no time to waste, and the situation had formed a perfect opportunity. Chishiya had invited us to his room to go over the the plan, but now that it was actually happening, it felt a lot more nerve-wracking.
Arisu and Usagi were sitting in their chairs, sharing uneasy glances as they wondered whether to go ahead with this. From my seat on the couch, I listened carefully while Chishiya brushed through the details in Japanese. He was speaking slower than usual, probably so I could understand as much as possible, but there were still some things I would have to ask about later.
He began passing around walkie-talkies, sliding them across the coffee table towards Arisu and Usagi. As he placed the device in my palm, his fingers brushed mine.
‘The playing cards,’ he said. ‘they’re kept in a safe hidden somewhere in the royal suite. Nobody knows the passcode except the current number-one. But because there’s always chance that the number-one could die in a game, the code is also kept in a black envelope. The black envelope is only opened when there’s a new number-one.’ He sighed. ‘There’ll be a meeting tomorrow, and Aguni will open it in front of all the executives.’
The system itself made sense, but how could Chishiya find out the passcode without being able to see inside an opaque black envelope?
He’s cunning, but cunning doesn’t give you x-ray vision.
‘It’s only read by number-one, right?’ I asked, wondering if I’d missed something along the way in my attempt at translating.
‘That’s right. But as for the safe itself, Arisu will be the one to infiltrate the royal suite.’
Arisu frowned. ‘But what about the passcode?’
‘I already have an idea about that,’ Chishiya said dismissively. ‘I’ll tell you when you’re in front of the safe.’
‘You really are cautious,’ Arisu replied with a grin. He nodded. ‘Got it!’
Chishiya looked at Kuina and Usagi. When he turned to me, I dropped my eyes to the coffee table, feeling embarrassed at how I was acting. It was as if I were a schoolgirl again. ‘You three will be on the lookout,’ he said.
Usagi flinched, eyeing the walkie talkie in her palm. ‘It’s too dangerous,’ she whispered. ‘If we’re found out, we’ll be killed.’
Her eyes were hazy with worry, and it was obvious she cared deeply about Arisu. They must’ve stuck together after the Tag game, becoming not just allies, but something more. It was clear as day from the way they looked at each other.
‘It’s fine, Usagi,’ Arisu tried to console her. ‘With Hatter dead, there’s no unity at the Beach. This is the only way.’
I wanted to believe him, I truly did. But as I bore witness to Chishiya’s growing influence on Arisu, the more doubts I had. Looking at him now, beyond his calm surface, there was something calculating there. An empty darkness. And I was right in the middle of it.
Just what are you really planning?
---------------------------------------------
The next day, Chishiya disappeared to attend the opening of the black envelope. It meant the rest of us had a few hours to kill before the executives and militants would hold a speech in the lobby to declare Aguni as the Beach’s new king.
I was sitting alone in my room, the walkie talkie on the desk beside me as I ran through the plan over and over. There was so much that could go wrong.
So far, I had intentionally stayed hidden. With Hatter had gone, there was nothing stopping Niragi from killing me and having done with it, and if I wanted to make it out of this place, it was best to keep my head down and remain out of sight. Luckily, my visa still had four days left, so I didn’t have to worry about running into Niragi at a game or in the lobby again.
If everything goes well, I’ll be seeing the last of him.
There was a knock at the door and Kuina called out from the other side.
‘Door’s open!’
Kuina entered, looking cheery and troubled all at once. ‘When is it not?’ she said, taking a seat on my bed as she played with her hair.
I folded my arms against the back of the chair as I took in her dismal energy. ‘You look drained. Something happen?’
She stared at the carpet. ‘Nope, but something will. I can sense it.’
She must be feeling it too.
‘Do you think the plan’s going to fail?’ I asked.
She laughed at first, then frowned. ‘I don’t know. It might, it might not. I just hate waiting like this. It feels a bit like waiting to die.’
The sun was beginning to set, and our time at the Beach was drawing to a close. Either we’d make it out and escape tonight, or we’d be deemed traitors and made an example of. It all depended on whether Chishiya could figure out the passcode, and whether Arisu could locate the safe in the first place. I bit my lip at the thought, tasting metal on my tongue.
I hate putting my life in someone else’s hands.
‘Kuina,’ I said, feeling a little awkward. ‘Do you trust Chishiya?’
She seemed to struggle with the question as she took her time to answer. ‘Not exactly. I trust him to a degree, and we’ve kind of become friends, you know. But if it really came down to it, he would put himself over me, if it means he’s able to survive. He might feel bad about it afterwards – or not, who knows? But that’s what he’d do.’ She looked at me, perplexed. ‘Why?’
My mind skipped through every time I had caught myself caring about him… the comfort I felt around him during the Hunting Season game… the fear of seeing him injured and the guilt of knowing he was in pain… the hurt every time he upset me… and the warmth of safety, knowing he was looking out for me in his own way. Even if he was downright cruel, he always gave me a reason to keep going.
‘I don’t either.’ I swallowed, trying to force myself to admit the truth. ‘But at the same time, I think I feel something… for him, I mean.’
Kuina took the quit-smoking aide out of her mouth. ‘I know.’
My head shot up.
What?
‘You know?’ I asked, surprised, confused and overwhelmed all at once. ‘How did you know before I did?’
She shrugged. ‘Because any idiot could see it, even Niragi. You’ve got some serious chemistry going on there.’ With a shake of her head, she said. ‘It’s a shame he’s such an asshole.’
I pushed my head in my hands, but it wasn’t enough to hide my embarrassment. I felt so exposed, like my mind and heart were put on display. If it was that obvious, it meant everyone would have been able to see it. Everyone.
‘Chishiya already knows, doesn’t he?’ It wasn’t even a question at this point.
She tilted her head from side to side, trying to make me feel better by pretending there might have been some room for error. ‘He probably does.’
‘There’s no ‘probably’,’ I groaned. ‘He definitely knows. Nothing gets past him.’
‘Can’t say I agree with your taste in men,’ she said, quietly, ‘but I guess it’s too late to interfere.’ Even though her tone was lighthearted, there was an edge there. ‘What are you going to do about it?’
How do I even begin to answer that question?
I slumped down onto the back of the chair, tired and exasperated with the whole thing. It had always been my dream up until now, to fall in love, live freely and keep looking to the future. But not like this. It was the wrong place, the wrong time, and as much as I hated to admit it, the wrong kind of person.
‘Who knows?’ I groaned. ‘This isn’t exactly the best place to fall in love with someone. This was what I always wanted, but now that it’s happening, I have no idea what I’m supposed to do.’
I looked to Kuina for advice, hoping she’d anchor me down and tell me it was going to be fine. Instead, she was at a loss, unsure of what to suggest.
But then the walkie talkie on the desk hummed to life, and it no longer mattered.
‘They’re about to make the speech.’ Chishiya’s static voice buzzed through. ‘It’s time.’

Memento Mori
Tumblr media
Summary: Apocalyptic AU, you and Natasha have been trying to find the rest of the team for almost a year now. It’s decided to meet in an abandoned theatre, where you decide to throw one last show with your fiance.
Word Count: 4.6 K (beautifully morbid)
A/N: This is some of my best writing, genuinely. Like I drafted this multiple times, it’s some of my best, please do me the honor of reading it
Grey light, dull static, dampened moods filled the small structure. The shattered windows numerous, some cracked, almost breaking. The electronics were either static or dead, refusing to show anything except grey or black.
The radio placed next to both of you resounded the same static. A contrast from the transmission it had received minutes ago. The rest of the team, whoever remained, had been sending the same message every day. The radio you had was the only one still working. Its need for repair brought you here, in the middle of an abandoned TV shop in a ghost town.
The transmission was simple, a message to meet the two of you in the biggest standing structure in a town a few miles from your location. You’d sent a message back agreeing to it, without coding it. There was no need to. Even if someone else picked up on the message, you would be happy to see anyone else.
Neither you nor Natasha knew how many of the team were still there, still alive.
The tins of food you ate were near empty, your spoon scraping dully on the bottom of the tin. You glanced at your bag, trying to ignore the lack of food in it. The grocery stores nearby were empty, looted before you even had the chance to get there.
“How far is the town?” Natasha asked, interrupting the silence. You shrugged and double-checked the map. Your fingers gingerly tugging it closer as you examined it.
“A few miles,” You shrugged, putting the tin on the corner of the map. “we should get there by tomorrow if we start early.”
Natasha nodded in acknowledgment, letting the silence sink over both of you. There wasn’t anything left to say. All you had to do was wait for tomorrow to get to the rest of your team. You weren’t sure if you wanted to meet them if you wanted to know what remained if you had lost someone.
The redhead glanced towards the bag of food. The cans near the bottom were showing, just barely covering the bottom of the bag. After this, neither of you had any backup plans for food. You were eating out of what you had left.
“We should stop by to get some food on the way,” Natasha commented, gesturing to the almost empty bag with one hand. You shrugged and closed it, keeping away the thoughts of tomorrow.
“True,” You said, closing off the bag with a sigh.
“I don’t know how many stores there would be though.” You commented. The town you were supposed to get to was one of the first hit. It wouldn’t be a surprise if all the food was already gone.
“Maybe we could start a farm.” Natasha joked half-heartedly. She moved to lay down with her head in your lap. Her hair falling onto the dusty ground, collecting in the red strands. The strands had gotten darker over the years. You didn’t know if it was dye or dust that faded it.
The joke was underlined with a tone of sadness. The despair of losing what could have been. Of what you had planned out for both of you. You could still see it, a small house near a lake, with enough space for the children you and Natasha could have adopted running around. The lake perfect for ice-skating in the winter and fishing in the summer.
A sigh left your lips as you looked down at your fiance. Her green eyes met yours, watching you carefully. Your hand went to her hair, running through the soft strands. The color had faded, but they felt as soft as they always had.
“Maybe,” You nodded, another heavy sigh leaving you. “After this is all over.”
When it’s over. Everyone had a plan for when this is all over. Without knowing when, or even if it’s going to be over. We keep returning to our plans when everything made sense because that’s all we know. Even if our hopes bring us more sorrow than joy.
Your hand went towards Natasha’s, stroking the back of her knuckles, feeling the soft skin there. The engagement ring that had resided there when it all began. It never got the chance to be exchanged for a wedding ring. Sometimes, you thought neither of your ring's ever would.
————
Footsteps padded the ground as you walked towards the town. The sun was directly above you, beating down through the clouds of smoke and fog. The heat wasn’t as bad, the light was awful. Everything was grey, even the trees.
Neither of you spoke, even though there was something to talk about. Tony had come up with a sort of a medicine, he’d gone far enough to call it an antidote. But he hadn’t gotten to test it yet. He was trying to get away from them rather than get a small test group together to see if it worked.
As far as anyone knew, it wouldn’t work. If it did, it could change everything. Your plan for when all of this is over could become a reality. “A penny for your thoughts?” You asked, walking side by side with Natasha. The redhead turned towards you, cocking an eyebrow before turning ahead.
“Do you even have a penny?” Natasha asked quietly, even though it barely mattered. Money only mattered to those who didn’t have other things to care about. You shrugged and pulled out a penny you had in your pocket for safekeeping.
“Not that it matters,” You pulled it out of your pocket and set it out in your palm. “but yes.”
Natasha chuckled as you tossed her the coin, turning it over in her fingers. The metal had lost its shine, but the value remained. Her fingertips traced over the lines and the minted year before pocketing it.
“Since you paid me for it, you might as well know,” Natasha answered, taking in a deep breath. You stayed silent, waiting for her to speak. It took her a few moments to bring her thoughts into words, you waited patiently.
“I’m thinking about what would happen if the antidote didn’t work.” She said eventually, each word sounding deliberate. She didn’t throw it out casually, as if this was just another possibility.
You stayed silent, unwilling to think of what would happen. Ever since you’d found out, all you’d been thinking about was what would happen if it worked. Not if it didn’t. The bright side of it seemed too tempting after staying on this site for too long.
“Penny for your thoughts?” Natasha said, tossing the penny back to you. You caught it and twirled it around in your fingers. Green eyes watched you, your footsteps slowing down a little as you thought. Natasha didn’t comment, only waiting for you to speak.
“I, I don’t know Natasha.” You answered, faltering slightly. You couldn’t bear to think that this would have all been for nothing. All the lives you’d saved, all the people you’d helped, it wouldn’t make a difference. To think you’d lived your life trying to fulfill a purpose that didn’t need to be fulfilled drained you, haunted you.
“We’ve come this far, I don’t want it to be for nothing.” You commented, trying to voice your fears. It didn’t work the way you’d hoped. It made it seem lighter of your fears.
“Even if it is for nothing,” Natasha spoke after a small silence, her hand finding yours. The penny dropped out of your hand and onto the ground. You couldn’t find it in yourself to care enough to pick it up.
“We found each other.” She commented, eyes glancing to yours. your lips curved upwards into a smile as a small chuckle left you. Your fears felt lighter for a few seconds.
“Always the romantic.” You remarked, grinning to yourself.
An abnormal silence filled the area around you. the only noise your and Natasha’s footsteps. The theatre was one of the few standing structures left in the city. Steve thought it was a good idea to meet there since it was easy to find. Even though the dark fog and the dim light of the clouds above, you could see it from far away.
The stench was awful, decaying plants, collapsing buildings, spoiled food. You covered your face using the black mask you brought with you, gesturing for your girlfriend to do the same. The redhead scrunched her nose and put on the mask, quickly tying her hair in a braid behind her.
The theatre was quite large. There was some graffiti on the side. A faded white lettering caught your eye. You moved to the side to read it.
“Memento Mori,” You read the sign aloud, voice muffled slightly by the mask, tilting your head to the side slightly.
Natasha shrugged, the lettering seeming morbid considering the circumstances. Latin was a dead language. It wasn’t something you expected to be graffitied on the side of an abandoned theatre. You seemed to be waiting for her to explain what it meant.
“It means ‘Remember you must die’” Natasha explained, gloved fingertips running over the faded white. It wasn’t spray paint. It was chalk. Dust came off on her fingertips. She looked at it from afar. The lettering wasn’t graffiti at all. It was a child’s writing in chalk.
Her breathing hitched when she noticed a child had written this. Swallowing hard, she gestured for you to follow her into the theatre. Guns ready, you waited for her to open the door, following her adamance to enter before you.
Her fingers signaled a countdown when they all disappeared behind her fist. She banged the door open and pointed her gun inside, the bang echoing in the theatre. No one was inside. It was empty. The chairs were a dull red, some toppled to the side. The light fixtures on the stage were blinking, illuminating the curtains dropped on the floor.
“The team should be here soon,” Natasha stated, putting down her gun and pulling out her radio to signal them. The redhead shut the door, bolting it. You moved around to explore after the redhead gave you a warning to be careful.
Taking off your gloves, you let your hands run over the dark velvet of the chairs. It was soft to the touch. Dust came off in your hands. You wiped it off and moved towards the stage, you easily climbed on top of it, your soft footsteps resounding in the space. Moving the curtain to the side, you looked out onto the chairs.
Flashbacks of before all of this came to you. Seats filled while you sang, the applause, the lighting, the smell of popcorn. It was something you missed.
“Hey, nat?” You called out, standing at the center of the stage, flinching as your voice echoed through the room. The lone light flickering to a steady light on top of you. She hummed, turning to face you. Emerald eyes scanned the empty stage, taking in the appearance.
“Wanna dance?” You asked, reaching your hand out for her.
Natasha sighed, but followed you up to the stage, taking your hand to help her up. Engagement rings clinked against each other, always missing the chance to be turned into wedding rings. The redhead whistled as she looked around the stage before you pulled her in for a twirl.
The redhead laughed as her feet slid smoothly across the wood. You giggled softly, twirling her elegantly, letting her guide you through the motions. This might be one of your last dances, might as well make the most of it.
The dust on the floor floated as your feet shuffled across it. Soft laughter emanated from you as you twirled her again before pulling her close to you. Both of you were captured in a trance. The shuffling of feet, your voice humming a soft tune, your fiance close to you. It was entrancing.
Loud sounds outside broke you out of the trance. Feet stopped, you turned to face the entrance of the theatre. Natasha glanced towards the bag she left close to the entrance, her weapons left there. The knife in her boot the only weapon she had. She couldn’t reach them without making more noise.
Noticing the distance of the weapons, you pulled the redhead behind you. Natasha rested one hand on your shoulder, the warmth of her hand seeping through your shirt. Taking in a deep breath, you opened your mouth, ready to use your voice as a weapon if it came to that.
The noises became quieter as they approached the door, sounding like footsteps. They stopped just before the door. You took in a deep breath, ready to scream.
The door burst open with a loud boom, revealing the team behind it. Steve stood in the front with his shield, Tony had his iron man suit ready behind him. Wanda’s hand glowed with red mist whilst Carol’s glowed with yellow. All of it stopped when they caught sight of you.
“Don’t sing!” Tony shouted, lowering his blaster. Steve lowered his shield and smiled up at both of you, chuckling at Tony’s reaction. The rest of the team stood behind him, laughing at Tony’s reaction while walking up to both of you.
“I haven’t seen you in a few years and that’s the first thing you say to me?” You remarked, sliding off the stage, Natasha’s hand in yours. The redhead chuckled and followed you to the center of the theatre.
Relief filled you as you hugged them. You and Natasha were passed around like prized trophies, for everyone to admire and talk about. All of you had changed in your way.
Tony’s beard was less well kept, he kept scratching at it nervously. Steve’s hair grew longer and messier, his posture slightly slouched. Wanda’s hair turned into a darker brown than the red you were used to. Carol’s hair had grown out a little, it was in a choppy cut now rather than the well-kept one. Rhodey had dark circles under his eyes, as did Maria. Sam was more tired, joking less than you remembered.
The changes made it seem like longer had passed since you had last seen each other. None of you acted the same way. All of you paid more attention to what was around you, ears perking at every sound and movement. Time does change people, sometimes for the worse.
“I missed this,” Natasha stated, leaning back against one of the chairs while she watched the team chat amongst themselves. You smiled at her before standing next to her, arm sliding around her waist comfortably.
“Got sick of me that easily?” You remarked jokingly, thumb stroking her side. She tilted her face to meet yours, winking at you.
“You know I could never,” Natasha commented, you laughed and kissed her cheek before facing the rest of the team. Speaking of which, all looked like they had seen the worst rom-com movie play out in front of them. Sam was the first to speak, after clearing his throat.
“Two years, not much changed,” He gestured to both of you. “you still want to make me barf my guts out.”
The team laughed, relating to his statement. You shrugged and kicked his shin lightly to get his attention. He looked at you amusedly, waiting for a sarcastic response, to which you replied promptly.
“And I missed you too.” You replied, laughing as you sat down with Natasha in one of the theatre seats.
————
Tony began talking about the antidote, how much time you had left. It wasn’t a conversation you wanted to have but needed to. You played with Natasha’s fingers in your lap, trying to distract yourself from this nightmarish reality.
The antidote was already set to arm when someone entered the theatre. There was no certainty around it though.
They had set up small detectors for activity everywhere before the pandemic broke out. Most were expected to break out, some still serve as a safe place. But all of them went off, blaring and screaming that the area was unsafe.
Now, the detectors are being set off which are closer. The entire horde is gaining on the team. There was no loophole, no underground base, nothing. Sam had fixed up an old radio and found that people were living underground in the far west. Some even as far as Canada.
But there wasn’t a way to get there. The ground was clogged with the horde. Maybe you could get there by air? There had to be another way. You refused to believe anything else.
“Even Carol can’t fly us out of here?” You asked, looking to Carol after they had finished explaining. Her hazel eyes looked down before meeting yours, a sullen look clouding them. Blonde hair fell just above them, staying there at her refusal to wipe them away.
“The caves are too far for any of us to fly there,” Carol answered, wincing when she saw your hurt expression.
Her dejection did nothing to dampen you, you began to spurt out suggestions. Something, anything that might work. This is what always happened, there was no hope until someone came up with an idea. You were spewing all the ideas you could come up with, only to face a dead-end at each of them.
Five, maybe even ten rejections to ideas you could handle. But every single one, it hurt you to a point where you couldn’t recover. Each dejection your head hung just a little lower, the light leaving your eyes just a little more.
Natasha noticed, she squeezed your hand, signaling you to stop. But you kept on going, speaking anything till you were out of ideas. A heavy silence filled the room, no one dared to interrupt it. Sadness was as clear in your eyes as anger was in Natasha’s. Clearing your throat, you stood up, hand sliding out of Natasha’s.
“I need, I need some air.” You stuttered, licking your lips nervously as you walked towards the changing room. Familiar footsteps sounded behind you, you couldn’t care enough to turn around. It was going to be Natasha, she would try to comfort you even if you refused. It was all she could do to help.
Opening the door to the costume room, you walked around for a bit before familiarity caught your eye. Moving towards it, you pulled it out. It was the same costume you wore while performing. Hardly anything had changed.
Your fingers ran down the front, watching the dust float off and collect before disappearing again. A hand appeared in the small of your back, trying to provide comfort. An exasperated sigh left you as you let the hangar return to its rack.
“I’m sorry about them,” Natasha gestured to the team outside the door as you turned to face her. “there might be a way-”
“You and I both know there isn’t a way out of this.” You stated, cutting her off. Natasha blinked at your sudden response. You hardly ever interrupted her, adamant that communication was the best path to anything. Now, you didn’t care. She would be lying if she said it didn’t scare her.
“Y/n.” Natasha began, her hand sliding into yours once again.
The cool metal of your ring met hers, providing a sense of familiarity, of comfort. Before your hand slid out of hers before settling on her waist. Your forehead rested against hers as she wrapped her hands on your neck.
“Nat, this is it.” You whispered, a heavy sigh leaving you.
You deflated, everything leaving you, your sadness, your plans. Everything is gone, your eyes were barren. It was a look not many people wore, it was a look you might see someone wearing just before they died.
“Everything we wanted, everything we planned for,” You sighed, leaning your forehead away from hers to look into her eyes. Emeralds glazed with tears looked up at you. She reached up and swiped her thumb across the crease in your forehead before settling next to your cheekbone.
“It all comes to this,” You whispered, a sad, broken smile gracing your lips. Natasha bit the inside of her cheek, wanting desperately to be the strong one, to try to protect you from this. But nothing she could do could shield you from this.
She released a heavy sigh before letting go of her cheek. You barely noticed her warm arms tug you in closer, a warm hug encompassing you. It was warm, so warm, compared to the cold threatening to take over you. The comfort bringing you out of your despair as she leaned towards your ear.
“This isn’t the ending you deserve,” Natasha whispered, despondent and tired.
You wanted to say that this wasn’t the ending anyone deserved. But she knew. No one got what they deserved. Everyone hoped for the best and avoided the worst. Some complained about what they got while others tried to make it better. Even those who tried to make it better didn’t get what they deserved.
Sometimes, you managed to convince yourself and Natasha that you’d done enough good to deserve a happy ending. You just wished you’d managed to convince yourself a little longer.
————
Shuffling of cloth, muffled footsteps, gray light filled the small room. The clothes on the racks shuffled as you moved to change. The changing rooms remained unused, there was no point. The racks of clothes high enough to cover both of you.
The stage was already set, the audience was already seated. All that was needed was the performers, you and Natasha. The costume you wore for your performances was untouched, just as you’d left it. The smell of your old perfume still lingered as a memory that refused to leave.
Goodbyes had been said, different versions of them. Different emotions, all the same. The idea of saying goodbye to your family, knowing that in an hour, none of it would matter scared you. But you were numb. You didn’t know why. Maybe it was shock, denial, you didn’t know.
Shuffling of cloth sounded behind you before Natasha cleared her throat. A smile on your face, you turned around to face Natasha. She wore a chiffon ballet dress that matched the color of her hair. The pointe shoes were black, just her size. The makeup she wore brought out the green in her eyes, complimenting every feature you found yourself adoring.
The low cut dress you wore was adorned with small gold lines. It still fit the same way, felt the same as it did before. So much had changed yet nothing had.
Both of you said the obligatory compliments to each other. It was a routine, every time either of you changed your clothes to go out. This time was so much more. This time felt like the last.
You hated it. The silence, the goodbyes, the feeling that this is the last time you’re experiencing everything.
Natasha’s lips met yours in a soft kiss, sealing the moment, freezing time for a few precious seconds. You wanted to stay there forever, just stop time, leave everyone else just to be with her. It was all you wanted to do. Even that you couldn’t take.
Natasha held your hand as you led her up the stairs with familiarity. The skin touching hers gently before your rings clinked together. The team applauded as you reached the middle of the stage. You squeezed her hand tightly before letting it slip from yours.
You leaned against the wall, unable to stand straight without support. Natasha took her place at the center of the stage, glancing towards you. The team looked towards you, waiting to hear you sing. None of them knew what song you’d picked. Though, you wished you could have picked a better one.
“Thought I found away. Thought I found a way out.” Your voice echoed through the room, silencing any other sounds. Natasha’s feet shuffled across the floor as she danced, her limbs elegantly distorting the light above her.
More sounds came from outside, scrambling, rushing to get here. Some of the team glanced nervously towards the walls. Your voice became louder, drowning out everything else.
“Oh I hope someday I’ll make it out of here Even if it takes all night or a hundred years.” Your voice became louder, breaking as you sang. Tears made their appearance on their cheeks, streaming down into their lap.
More tears came on Natasha’s cheeks, resembling liquid gold as they streamed down her face. Never once did she falter, making a perfect pirouette on her toes. The tears dropped down onto the floor, the soft patter barely audible.
“Isn’t it lovely, all alone? Heart made of glass, my mind of stone.” Your voice broke slightly, you fixed it and sang louder. The sounds became louder, just in proportion with your voice. Taking in a deep breath, you continued singing, holding the microphone closer to your mouth.
“Tear me to pieces, skin to bone Hello, welcome home.” Gently placing the microphone on the side, you took your place in front of Natasha. Without missing a beat, she wrapped her arms around your neck as you slid around her waist.
Dance is supposed to be dignified, fluid, elegant. This was hardly what you would call dancing. You just swayed from side to side, occasionally twirling Natasha as she danced. Tears flowed down your cheeks, you paid no heed to them as you continued singing.
The lyrics came to you automatically as you danced with your fiance. A small fantasy-filled your mind, the fantasy that this was your wedding. Instead of hiring a singer to sing the first song, you chose to do it. All your family was watching you.
Fantasies, dreams, are all a dangerous thing. Sometimes even stronger than reality.
The sobs of your family slowly dragged you back into the dreaded reality. Natasha rested her forehead against yours, uncaring to how loud your singing was. It helped drown out everything else, she didn’t need anything more.
“Isn’t it lovely, all alone? “Heart made of glass my mind of stone.” you sang, singing the note higher than intended. No one cared as the noises grew louder.
Nuzzling your nose against your fiance, keeping her close, your feet shuffled across the ground. The dust had long been disturbed, still moving as you danced. The light above you flickered before becoming steady once again.
You thought you heard someone say goodbye, it was hard to tell over the music and the noises. Your arms tightened around Natasha, fooling yourself to protect her. Once, you had yourself convinced that if she was close to you, nothing could go wrong. How powerful, how wrong illusions can be.
The antidote armed itself as the doors burst open. The noises were louder than ever. The powder was a bright scarlet, clouding itself around everything. To drown out everything, you sang the lyrics, finishing your last song, your last performance.
“Tear me to pieces, skin to bone Hello, welcome home.” You sang, still dancing with your fiance.
The dust clouded everything, you couldn’t see anything that was happening. You weren’t sure if you wanted to. even if you did, you wouldn’t tear your eyes away from your fiance. It could be the last time you got to see her.
But you kept dancing, the noises drowned out by your voice as you sang the tune of the song. Natasha remained in your arms, like some sort of a dream. If it was a dream, you never wanted it to end. If it was a reality, you wanted to turn it into a dream.
Memento mori, such a morbid phrase, making death itself seem like a distant illusion. Maybe it was an illusion, maybe it was a reality, who were you to tell the difference?

Gally x Reader Chapter 19: Answers (3)
WARNING
THIS CHAPTER CONTAINS STEAMY SCENES.
YOU ARE WARNED
___________________________________
Y/N'S P.O.V
"And his hair is ugly"Gally muttered as he ran his fingers through my hair.
"Wait, is this Newt or Thomas?"He thought it over before replying.
"Both"
"Oh Gally"I giggled as there was a knock on my door. I opened it and saw Minho standing there. I leaned against the doorway as we exchanged greetings.
"I'm taking Thomas to the room so come and meet us there"
"Got it" I waved bye, closing the door when I felt strong arms wrap around my waist and Gally's husky voice whisper in my ear.
"Do you have to go?" I faced him, slipping my arms around his neck"I miss you building with me"
"I'm sorry hun, running is my main task now" He pouted making me giggle at his adorable face"I'll see you later" I kissed him softly before opening the back door.He smiled back before leaving. I grabbed my harness and knife before running to the runner's cabin.
~A FEW MOMENTS LATER~
"It's the maze. All of it" I crossed my arms, leaning against a beam.
"What do you mean 'All of it'? I thought you guys were still mapping it" Thomas looked at us in confusion.
"There's nothing left to map" Minho sighed "I've run every inch of it myself, every cycle, every pattern. If there was a way out, we would have found it"He hung his head, his hands holding the edge of the table.
"Why haven't you told anyone this?"
"It was Alby's call" I walked around to Thomas"People needed to believe we had a chance of getting out. But maybe now..... We have a real chance" I smiled softly at him as Minho handed him the device we found.
"Take a look at this"Minho leaned down"About a year ago, we started exploring these outer sections. We found these numbers printed on the walls. Sections 1 through 8"He pointed them out to Thomas"See, the way it works, is every night, when the maze changes, a new section is open"
"So today, Section 6 was open"I continued"Tomorrow, it will be 2 then 8 then 3. The pattern always stays the same."Thomas stared down at the device, his hand running over the glowing number 7.
"What's so special about 7?"
"We don't know"Minho stood straight" But last night, when you killed that Griever, section 7 was open. I think it must be where it comes from. Tomorrow ______, you and I are going to take a closer look"I patted his back as Jeff and Clint come running.
"Hey!"I instantly moved to cover the table as Minho did the same.
"What are you guys doing? You're not allowed in here"
"Sorry, it's just the...."
"It's the girl"
"Is she awake?"Thomas asked.
"You could say that"We followed them to where all the Gladers were. Chuck was standing a bit away from the rest of them.
"Chuck, what's going on?"
"Girls are awesome"He glanced at me before pointing to the watch tower, grinning. We saw rocks being hurled at the Gladers and we ran over.
"Leave me alone!"
"Watch your head!"
"Hey! you throw one more of those things...."Gally yelled up at her and she threw one down at him. I took a plank of wood and pulled him under, grinning.
"Don't. Those hurt"I chuckled as he scowled.
"Go away!" She yelled.
"We come in peace"
"What happened?"I asked Newt.
"Just duck"Winston replied.
"I don't think she likes us very much"
"You think?"I shook my head at Newt as more rocks fell our way.
"What do you want from me?"
"We just wanna talk"Thomas yelled up to her.
"I'm warning you!"
"Take cover! Take cover"I grabbed Thomas as a particularly big rock fell his way. "Tommy tell her you're here" I urged him and he nodded, Gally frowning at my nickname for Thomas.
"Hey! It's Thomas! It's Thomas!"The rocks stopped and we cautiously put down our shields. Her face peered over and I shoved Thomas to move. He began to climb as her face disappeared. Gally stared as we watched the nest.
"What's going on up there?"Newt yelled. Thomas appeared, holding a machete.
"Just give us a second, ok?"
"Alright"I yelled back"Come on you lot"
"Is this what all girls are like?"Frypan said and I shoved him as we turned back.
"Come on Gally"I tugged his arm.
"That girl is crazy"He muttered as we walked back. We headed to the campsite next to the river. I sat down next to Newt as Gally paced, glaring up at the nest.
"Gally give it a rest, eh?"
"Why is it that ever since those two came here, things have gone wrong?"
"You're being negative, what if it's a good thing?"I sighed. Deep down, I knew that nothing was ever going to be the same again. I knew that girl was the one called Teresa, I remembered her, but what was she doing here? It hurt my head as visions flashed through my mind.
"_____!"I turned to see Gally and Newt staring at me.
"I need a walk"I stood up and headed towards the Med cabin"Hey guys"I said to Clint and Jeff as I walked in. I sat down to the shaking Alby"Is he any better?"I softly whispered. Clint shook his head and I wiped the sweat from Alby's face as Newt came in, holding 2 vials with blue liquid in them, followed by Thomas and Teresa. I saw her look at me with curiosity but I concentrated on what Newt was saying.
"We don't even know what this stuff is. We don't know who sent it. Or why it came up here with you" He said, gesturing briefly to Teresa"For all we know, this thing could kill him"
"He's already dying Newt"I spoke quietly"Look at him. How could this possibly be any worse"
"Come on, it's worth a try"Thomas urged.
"Alright. Do it"He handed the vial to Thomas. Thomas took the vial and went over to Alby as I stood next to Newt.
"Okay"Thomas looked back at us, his hand hovering over Alby's chest. Alby's eyes opened and he grabbed Thomas by his shirt.
"You shouldn't be here!"He exclaimed"You shouldn't be here"We rushed over, Newt pulling Alby back and I yanked Thomas away from him.
"Watch out"I held down one of Alby's arms and Newt had the other.
"Thomas get the syringe! Let go"I panted, struggling. Teresa stabbed the syringe into Alby's arm and he went out cold.
"Well, that worked"Jeff said as we panted.
"Okay from now on, someone stays here and watches him around the clock"Newt ordered. We all nodded as Gally came.
"Hey"He briefly met my eyes"Sundown, Greenie. Time to go"Thomas left with him as I turned to Newt.
"I'll take the first shift"
"That's kind of you, but you need to rest _____. You've been on your feet for a few days now, besides Teresa needs your help"I nodded at Newt and left followed by Teresa. As we quietly made our way to our cabin, I saw her stare at the figures of Gally and Thomas.
"Hey"I nudged her softly"Are you alright?"
"Yeah"She looked down at her hands"He hates me and Thomas doesn't he?"
"I can't say you two are his favourites"I sighed"He'll get used to you, he's hostile to Greenies all the time. That's just Gally"I held back a grin as we arrived "This is us"I opened the door and let Teresa in. I began to set up her hammock as she looked around.
"Just the two of us?"
"Yep, all the boys are over in Homestead"
"That's good"
"There"I finished the hammock"This is your bed"
"Thank you"She said quietly, sitting down"Can I ask you something?"
"Go ahead"
"I didn't just see Thomas in my memories, you were there too. Why is that? How come I remember you but not anyone else apart from Thomas?"
"I'm not sure"I admitted"When you came, I remembered you too but everything comes back to me in parts so it's hard to piece it together. However, I know now that you are here, things are are going change. For better I hope"We laid down, the lamp casting shadows around the room.
"Does this feeling of loneliness and despair go away?"I sat up and faced her as she sighed.
"If you have good friends who have your back, like you do"I gave her a small smile which she returned.
"Thank you _____"
Gally's P.O.V
I was sitting staring at the stars when I heard someone climb up the watch tower"Hey handsome"A voice whispered behind me. I looked back to see ______ and I held an arm out to her. She sat down in my lap, my arms wrapped tightly around her, a thin blanket draped over us. We sat, watching the stars however a question itched at my mind.
"Since when did Thomas become Tommy?" I muttered into her ear making her chuckle.
"Since he is my friend"
"I hope he knows that"
"Believe me, his interests lie elsewhere" She smiled at my confusion. I shrugged and pecked the side of her neck with kisses making her shiver. I had missed her and desperately needed her. I knew she could feel what I wanted because my hand was rubbing small circles on her inner thigh making her whisper "Gally.....", my teeth grazing her skin.
"Mmm?" I mumbled "Do you want me to stop?" Her arousal was evident as I licked her burning skin.
"I....uhh...." She drifted off mid sentence as my other hand tugged and twisted her nipple.
"You don't know how tormenting it was, watching that shirt cling to your sexy figure" My tone was deep with lust "I just want to take you then and there in the Glade"
"Take me now" She moaned as my hand slipped inside her trousers, stroking her clit.
"Beg me"
"Take me now right here in the Glade, please Captain Gally" That was enough for me and I laid her on her back. She pulled me close, her lips on mine. She tugged at my shirt which I instantly ripped off. To my surprise she flipped us over, straddling my waist. She traced a line down my hardened chest to my trousers. She rubbed the large bulge in my pants making me roll my eyes back and let out a deep groan.
"Don't tease me babe"
"But it's alright for you to do it?" She whispered in my ear, biting down softly on my earlobe"It's payback time love" She sat directly on top of my bulge and grinded, my member hardening as I let out a low grunt. She kissed me again, our tongues battling for dominance.
"I think my trousers are about to burst" I groaned, feeling her soaked clit above my bulge.
"I guess we're even then" She smirked, sitting up.
"My turn" I flipped us once more, tearing off her clothes. She shivered at the coldness of the wind as it hit her naked body. I gazed at her"I can never get over your beauty, baby girl" I muttered. She rewarded me for my sweet words by pulling down my trousers and stroking my member. I let out a deep exhale as I unloaded some of the bearing in my member onto her hand.
"I can't hold back for much longer"I growled before shoving my member deep inside her. She gasped, barely having time to adjust before I pounded into her. She loudly moaned and I instantly covered her mouth with my hand.
"I hate to say this, but not so loud gorgeous" I whispered, smiling as her moans vibrated in my hand. I buried my head in her neck, her hands running through my hair, turning me on even more.
"I'm so...so close....." She gasped.
"Do it baby girl" I pulled out as ____ came and I released all over her stomach. I panted and rolled onto my back. She cleaned herself with her vest as I pulled up my trousers. I pulled her close, cuddling under the blanket. She laid her head on my chest and I twirled the ends of her hair.
"Gally?"
"Yes beautiful?"
"How am I to get down in this state?"
