i think the research side will actually be very fun for this. it will be like. my politics degree if i was interested + committed to it + present at my lectures and seminars + had the opportunity to mention teeth and/or the discography of post-punk band xtc in my essays
#thinking about the one essay i got to do on british punk politics back in october. love you forever sweetheart the apple of my eye...#got lots of research to do. but how fun it will be!! and though this is a long shot if anyone has any material / recommended reading on#british trade unions/the miners strike in the 1980s or (british--or general) queer activism in the 1980s that they could suggest that#would be. more than appreciated i would take you on a date even or send you a fruit basket and a thank you note with a lipstick kiss on it#will obvs be finding my own but. well i figure if ever theres a social media site where theres a chance people will have that sort of stuff#it will be this one innit. the more i talk about it the more i think i want to have a crack at it although. it will still be insane to me#if i actually manage to produce a multichapter work. ME. well there is no rush xx for now i think. i will have a little break xx#god i have posted TOO MUCH today. sorry GOING NOW!!!!!!!

Year in Review, 2019
Tagged (ish) by @somanyjacks-writes to do a fic progress review for the year!
I’ve spent a lot of this year irrationally anxious that I wasn’t creating enough, producing enough, working fast enough. This morning was no exception, especially with the year wrapping up, and it actually really helped to do this, because I don’t think I realized how much, objectively, I actually did get done in 2019.
Word Count: 188331 This is BY FAR the most I’ve ever written in a year - I don’t think I’ve ever even topped 100K before, at least not in work that I’ve published. Nightingale is a full 150K of that, but I managed to squeeze out another 30K of one-shots as well. Considering the number of setbacks this year has thrown at me, including job changes and major family illnesses, it’s actually insane that so much got done.
# of fics posted: 13 This is only surpassed by 2013, the first year I started posting on Ao3 (and even then, my word count was only around 45K). Woo!
2019 Fandoms: Only Critical Role! I was actually kind of surprised about that, because I remember working on other things this year, but I haven’t published any of them yet. Hopefully I can rectify that early in 2020.
Most popular fic: Only the Nightingale Sings, and I continue to be blown away each and every day by the response this story generated, and how many people are still following along now that we’re near the end, even 10 months after I started posting. I can never say it enough, but thank you so so much to every single person who’s read, commented, sent kind messages, or dropped by to rant about Ikithon in my askbox. I hav e treasured every word, and they’ve gotten me through some really rough times in the last few months. This story could not exist without you. Thank you.
Least popular fic (discounting super short drabbles): Thin I still really like this story, but I definitely understand why it didn’t have a huge response. It’s a little off the beaten path, and second person POV isn’t for everyone. But if you want to read a bit of introspection about Nott/Veth’s alienation from her body post-transformation, specifically regarding her weight, this might be for you!
Fic recs: I actually made a post of CR fic recs earlier this month!
Goals for 2020: I really, really wanted to finish Nightingale before the end of 2019, and I think a big part of my anxiety has come from my inability to meet that goal. But you know what? I got damn close, and by not rushing I’ll be able to finish up this year long project right. That’s far more important than an arbitrary due date. For now, 2-3 more chapters to go!
After that’s done, I’ve got two WIPs from other fandoms (TAZ, Dragon Age) that I’d like to get out after Nightingale is wrapped up, and then two more CR multichapters I’m eager to start on. I’d also like to get out one or two D20 Bloodkeep oneshots if I can. I’d like to get back to DMing once my life settles down a bit more, and also work on some original fiction I’ve put on the backburner for the last year or so. There’s a lot I want to do, and I’m excited to do it!
Cheers to a 2020 filled with less stress and more hope! And, as always, writing :) Anyone who’s reading this, consider yourself tagged! (And @ me so I can see!)
