I think one of my most hated tropes is the boss babe/pathetic man trope that social media seems to be married to. Especially when the guy is constantly called a malewife.
I can’t fully explain it, but it does the opposite of what people think it does. At least for me. It’s suppose to be empowering and it just sounds patronizing. Especially when the guy is extraordinary in his own right.
Why are y’all so afraid of power couples??

Self Aware Genshin Impact AU - Divine Guide who’s already Married Concept Intro
Because I somehow want the genshin cast to suffer in this specific way lmao and also inspired by some other users post but i cant rmb who hvrcecrnmfaetvu
This is a very specific AU for the sagau cult idea, whereby it is kind of the typical genshin player gets isekai’d into Teyvat and has a cult following thanks to their interference as a player, except the player wants to go back home and aren’t that reciprocal of their acolytes’ love and devotion…
…because they already have a spouse back in their og world, and rather be reunited with them than be alone worshipped at a pedestal they believe they dont really deserve.
Cue astonishment and outrage among the acolytes because how is it that their beloved deity is married and no one knows abt it??? (Turns out some characters suspected it due to a few of the player’s offhand comments during gameplay that hinted them being already attached to someone, except they were kinda in denial/not focused on that part…until the Divine Guide descends and later reveals that info. Oof)
Not to mention that these characters cant help but fall in love/obsession with the Divine Guide due to their kind and patient presence. The moment the acolytes know that the Divine Guide has made an appearance in Teyvat, they think that they had a chance to show their devotion to the Guide, and possibly prove their worth to be one of their potential lovers.
Unfortunately, the Divine Guide does not see the acolytes in that way, because they already have a lover that practically seems like their soulmate based on how the Guide wistfully reminisces and gleefully gushes abt their spouse from time to time.
Because of that theres a good amt of jealousy esp from the more devoted and obsessive acolytes. Like they are grateful to you, who is doing their best to remain impartial and equally appreciative of everyone.
Yet the acolytes just see the absolute love and affection you have whenever you mention your lover and they just…cant help but feel envious of your spouse and wish they could be in their place.
Of course, since its only the Divine Guide that came to Teyvat, the acolytes try to subtly push their deity to move on from their lover. Like yes it is such a shame your lover didnt cross over as well, but would you really prefer to keep mourning over what could have been when there is a new world with dedicated followers at your beck and call? What abt these people who want to thank and worship you for the kindness you have done for them? It would be better for you to look up and live in the present than dwell in the past or wishful thinking that amount to nothing, no?
Just to make this all the more spicier, at some point maybe a couple of months or even a year since the arrival of the Divine Guide aka the player in Teyvat, their spouse ends up getting isekai’d in as well.
Once the Guide aka the og player discovers them, they are ecstatic to have their lover with them, and whether the two decide to stay tgt in Teyvat or secretly figure out how to go back home is up to them, but oh boi the acolytes end up getting the shock of their lives (and oh boi the green gazes as they witness the reunion). Imagine the multitude of reactions from cast, esp when you decide to continue on your loving relationship and declare that your lover, now known as the Divine Consort, to be treated with the same respect as you.
Some are envious, and secretly despise your spouse because they feel that the Consort is unworthy of your love and affection. Some are dejected or upset, and are either willing to give them a chance or hesitant to because they are still unsure. Some are willing to worship the spouse along with their beloved deity, and find the Consort really cool in their own right. Some might end up liking the spouse to the point they wonder if both the Divine Guide and the Divine Consort would be open to having other lovers…

a lot of people have been doing this so i decided why not right. probably gna lose some followers or smth but anyways. pls respect my opinions! if u disagree, thats fine, but please be polite. unless any of my opinions strikes u as morally wrong then pls point it out to me respectfully. thanks!
- i actually liked drew. im so sorry to everyone who hates her but full offence, why. think about it this way ok, first of all drew became hc because silena died. silena was the traitor, the one who betrayed chb, yet after she died campers celebrated her as a hero? and then drew suddenly has to replace her and live up to idk that legacy she left behind,, when all of a sudden this girl named piper swoops in and takes her place. idk abt u but i wld be salty abt that too. not only that, but as an asian, the chances of drew having faced racism/bullying as a child is pretty high (she studies at brooklyn academy). which means that when she finds out shes a demigod, and arrives at chb where most of the campers are white (this is an assumption btw), she’d obviously be scared of being bullied for her skin color right?? so the first thing she wld do before the campers get to bully her is to bully them before they can do so. (sentence structure here is wack i apologize) ofc this might not even have happened, drew could have had a perfect childhood && was a b1tch for no reason, BUT EVEN THEN HER ROLE AS A BULLY WAS PRETTY VITAL BECAUSE THAT FURTHER SHOWED THE CONTRAST BETWEEN HER AND PIPER,, HIGHLIGHTING PIPER AS A HERO//GOOD CHARACTER,, AND THEREFORE MAKING READERS LIKE PIPER MORE. anyway stop hating on drew please. ALSO WHY IS THIS SO LONGA SDFJHG
- jason isnt bland, the fandom just kinda erased his backstory (thanks to @pjohoo-memes for the phrasing lol)
- reynabeth wouldnt have lasted/would have broken up several times. idk i just see them as two extremely powerful characters who have firm opinions and will definitely clash at some point. in a platonic relationship,, i can see them as really good friends but as lovers? idk i just think theyll break up

AND THEN GREEK DEMIGODS COME TO CJ AND ONE OF THEM BOMB IT UP?? octavian has been told all his life that greeks are scum and this dude called leo valdez attacks cj. sure it was an accident, but did octavian know that? no. so it was honestly justified that he was such a salty prick im just saying. also some of yall be hating on octavian for cutting a teddy bear open and thats the funniest shit ive ever heard i swear 
- luke didnt go to elysium
- travis and connor stoll r way too underrated. the two have been head counselors of the hermes cabin since luke was revealed as a traitor, can u imagine the stress? luke, the person they probably looked up to as a brother, betrayed them. and they didnt even have time to process this when they were  thrown the roles of being hcs. that would have been so stressful and i would probably have broken down if i were them. the stoll brothers taking turns to wake up at ungodly hours because a new camper is crying and homesick and terrified, the stoll brothers having to comfort and take care of new campers, having to deal with the amount of people in that cramped space because not enough campers are being claimed fast enough. having to resolve issues between campers in the hermes cabin all the time. the stolls arent just comedic relief, and we need to stop treating them as such

- demigods of the demeter cabin arent talked about enough and i love the fact that meg was demeters kid. like she isnt the child of one of the big three yet shes so powerful.
- we need to hype clarisse up more her character arc was phucking amazing 
- rachel is overhated. sis found out greek gods exist and regularly come down to earth to fuck around and went “ok cool”. queen shit behavior methinks
- the floor 19 crew of mcga is srsly underrated. like do u even remember halfborn gunderson, mallory keen, tj, etc??? bc i feel like we only remember samirah, magnus, alex, and sometimes blitz and hearthstone
- sadie (tkc) was kinda annoying at first. i like her more now tho but i rmb not liking her for a phat while
- tkc and mcga need more love
- carter kane and jason grace arent boring. theyre just really sweet boys who are too good for this world and yes yes yes 
- hazel and frank (especially frank) need to be hyped up more. i hardly ever see anything about them. also yall seem to forget that frank was literally made praetor and that even hecate admired hazel and was willing to fight beside her because of how powerful she was
- frazels age gap is kinda sketch but i still think theyre really cute
- nico definitely had trauma from going to tartarus on his own

- annabeth isnt smarter than leo but neither is leo smarter than annabeth. ive seen a lot of discussions about who is smarter and heres my hot take on it: neither. theyre equally smart, just in different ways. leos a genius mathematically speaking. he has no issues solving math problems meant for people much, much older than him. annabeth on the otherhand, is great at strategies etc. she can make an army of 1000 more powerful than the enemy, even if theyre outnumbered. so in my opinion, both are equally as smart//u cant compare their intelligence, because their talents lie in two different areas.
- while i do agree rick riordan isnt a god and that hes bound to make mistakes,, AND that hes given us a lot of representation,, if the representation offends the people its sposed to represent, then theres a problem. im talking about piper as a poc and wearing feathers in her hair. im not a poc, so i cant speak for them on whether or not its wrong, because i dont know either. HOWEVER, i have seen multiple posts BY pocs talking about how they didnt really like rick’s representation of piper, and thats an issue. pocs have been and are still oppressed and discriminated against by many. as a white cis man, we cant really blame him for not knowing (tho he could have done a research,, asked some pocs,, idk), but by representing pocs in that manner, hes influencing impressionable kids/teens into thinking “oh pocs wear feathers in their hair all the time” etc, which isnt true. the pjo/hoo series is extremely successful, and kids who read the books will probably start forming inaccurate opinions on pocs. the amount of fan art that depicts piper with feathers in her hair dont help either. “but rick said so in the books, so its canon” yeah well rick isnt a god and he can get some things wrong at times. im not saying we should cancel him, im saying we should start educating ourselves and not spread false info like pocs wearing feathers in their hair all the time. also that snake song shit where she sang Summertime was just- yeah. bc heres the thing you can be racist, and still include minorities, but portray them in a racist way. And even then, ignorance isn't a thing to admire. Getting those facts wrong still has a major impact. It continues to perpetuate racist stereotypes.

- the fact that most of the strong female characters in the series refuse to be “girly”, and ngl i dont really like that. just because ure girly doesnt mean u cant be strong. 
- piper would have been a great way for him to start making the strong characters act girlier, but instead he went with the “I’m not like other girls” trope which is quite obnoxious to hear constantly, and I don’t think it’s necessarily great for younger girls to read that idea growing up.  the closest we've ever had to a strong female character who was also into "girly" things was Silena. when I was younger I admired Piper's "I'm not like other girls" thing, but then I got older and realized that the whole mentality of "not like other girls" is super obnoxious, and a little bit toxic

i’m a big fan of treating music like poetry, because music really is just, poetry with rhythm and/or melody. and i had it drilled into me when analyzing poetry that the author is not necessarily the speaker, that even when a poem says “i” that doesn’t mean the speaker is the author. 
and LIKE i know with music, most lyrics are written where the author and the speaker are one and the same. but i’m also a big fan of songwriters being able to write outside of their experience, and also them being able to retain privacy regarding whether or not a song is from experience or not. so i really don’t like to assume that the person who wrote the lyrics is writing from experience, so when thinking about a song i always like to distinguish the speaker as someone separate from the writer. the only times they should be treated as one and the same, i think, is when the writer confirms that yes they wrote this from experience and that this song is about them
SO like when looking at the genius pages for starset songs it’s always like. “dustin loves this girl” it’s like................... why are you saying dustin for? why are you assuming things about him? this especially rubs me wrong with songs from divisions which are yknow, about an unhealthy relationship, and it’s like... has he ever said that he’s writing from experience? i don’t really pay attention to the real people from the bands i like, so maybe he has, but i don’t remember seeing it anywhere. so like, why are you assuming something so deeply personal about him just because he wrote it?

it’s like.. perfect machine is from the point of view of someone who is the abuser/toxic person in a relationship. to say that, just because it’s written from that point of view, and written by dustin, that it’s from DUSTIN’S point of view is just.. huh? especially considering that perfect machine obviously ties into telekinetic, but that song is from the abused person’s point of view, but dustin also wrote it? so dustin is both the abuser and the abused? he abused himself???
like for the love of god just say “the speaker.” yes dustin wrote it and sang it but it’s not actually HIM. there’s a story being told here and to ignore that just.. does a disservice to this album?
ALSO i love how, when they do this, like equate the speaker and the singer as being inherently equal, they always say that the love interest/other person in the relationship is a woman. like there are NO pronouns in this song other than “you,” there are no indications of the other person’s gender. nor are there any indications of the speaker’s gender either! but by putting dustin as the speaker it’s like ok well the other person must be a woman then. i see this with other songs and bands too and it always irks me. like this is a gender neutral song for both the speaker and their love interest but you just.. make it inherently straight by assigning the male singer to the speaker...
i mean idk i know i’m very standoffish when it comes to the real people behind the music i listen to. i genuinely do not want to know anything about these people. i know that i’ll never know them for who they really are beyond their music, and i’d like to keep it that way. so i literally do not want to assume anything about them because then it feels so so weird. like assigning them these deeply personal things when they never confirmed it actually happened it’s like.. i literally dont know you. and frankly i dont want to. if a musician comes out and says “yes i was in an abusive relationship and this album was written entirely about that” then thats one thing.. it still makes me deeply uncomfortable to know such a raw and personal thing about them, and to always have that in mind when i listen to the album.. but ultimately at least they were the one to come out and say it, yeah? so for ambiguous things where it’s not confirmed that it’s written from experience... to just ASSUME that it was, and like, insert them into a raw and painful song where they never necessarily said that they’re actually In the song, it’s just.. what are you doing? you don’t know this person. you never will. why are you assuming these things about them. IDK i guess tl;dr for this paragraph is that, i know i have very strict boundaries up between me and musicians and maybe that’s where this whole post is coming from.
but also like i just think separating the musician from the music in cases where they aren’t explicitly one and the same also helps with just... the art of it? the art of the story being spun? if i know it’s someone else’s REAL pain and real suffering being poured into this song it makes me so.. uncomfortable. to listen to it in my leisure time and appreciate it musically. when someone’s voice breaks when singing a line it makes me uncomfortable because, yes raw emotion! but knowing that.. there’s a real reason why their voice cracked, why they have such intense emotion.. it’s just, how can i celebrate that? and then i find it hard to enjoy the song or relate to it myself, because it’s about the musician’s experience, not mine. i know they released it to the public for a reason but it still feels like i’m co-opting someone else’s experiences and pain for myself, and i have no business doing that
SO I GUESS it’s just. idk. it’s more personally enjoyable when there’s a line drawn between the musician and the music. and also i think there’s a lot more room for artistic exploration and storytelling when you’re no longer restricted to only what you know and have experienced
it’s just, you can write a book or poem in the first person, but people don’t assume that “I” is referring to the author, right? so why can’t we extend that to music too. 
TL;DR when we talk about songs, can we please just refer to the pov person as the speaker rather than the singer/lyric writer themself? unless they’ve confirmed that this is written about their experiences, i just think it’d be more respectful and artistically freeing

little. wafle about good omens and the queerbaiting thing
i want to preface this by saying i love both neil gaiman and terry pratchett; i love their books, i think they’re great authors, and i think they’ve both done wonderful, progressive things in their various works, good omens being no exception. i dont think good omens is awful and homophobic, im not trying to “cancel” anyone, i just want to share my perspective on why, maybe, in this instance, this time, neil gaiman has not handled this particular issue with all the grace and tact he maybe could have.
for the record, the stir about good omens and queerbaiting -which, from what i have seen, is a very gentle stir, more of a mild disgruntlement than actual, angry discourse- isn’t because “crowley and aziraphale didnt kiss/fuck on screen, therefore it’s not canon therefore it’s queerbaiting!”. i have seen literally no one say that. the reason people are put out, again, very mildly, is because it wasnt made canon in any way. it’s not that people think there must be kissing and/or fucking for a relationship to be canon. they could have said “i love you” or held hands or leaned their heads on each other’s shoulders or anything else like that. there are a million ways to communicate explicitly that two characters have a romantic relationship without showing kissing or fucking. and they also could have just not made them canon and not mentioned it, and be done with it. people would have been disappointed, but it wouldn’t really be queerbaiting.
the issue people have is that the possibility is brought up, but only as a joke; both the book and the show do this. someone consoles aziraphale on the street after seeing what they interpret as a break up between him and crowley, one of the angels calls crowley his boyfriend, shadwell calls him a pansy; in the book, aziraphale is literally described as appearing gay to people who meet him, anathema assumes he and crowley are a couple, and at one point, he’s called a f*ggot (which, im not pointing out as like a callout, it’s not shown as good, but it still happens). it’s just that when people said “hey, what about this, but genuinely?” that the response became “oh no, these man-shaped beings are actually genderless and don’t have sexualities and we won’t confirm or deny that they’re in love” which. is kind of a cop out. and i can respect authors leaving things ambiguous; no one is obligated to be explicit about things. but they’re not genderless anywhere else; they’re described as men, they look like men, they’re received and treated like men, they assume the roles of men, and they have their relationship called gay as a joke like men. if they’re not men enough to be gay, why are they men enough to be “f*ggot”?
the issue here, for many people, if being able to point to something and say “these characters are queer. this story is about queer love. queer love is valuable and beautiful and it belongs in stories, and it’s in this one, and you cant do anything about it.” saying “they aren’t queer but they aren’t not queer” does not give us that ability. 
AND THAT’S FINE
no one is obligated to make their work political like that. the problem arises when the interpretation “these characters are queer” is met with “no, they’re not, and you can’t prove they are” which it always, always is. characters are assumed heterosexual, always, period. queer interpretations will always take a back seat, they will always be seen as a bit weird and a bit ridiculous. so when there is nothing explicit in the text (meaning obvious, unassailable, indisputable) that marks a character or a relationship as queer, then it isn’t. it’s not canon unless it’s made canon. all the swelling music and longing looks in the world can be written off; if you have to write lists and essays as evidence that something is queer, it’s not canon. maybe it’s coded all to hell, but it’s no canon. and, again, that’s fine. what isnt fine, though, is actively making fun of the queer interpretation, within the text. if there is a joke or a jab from a villain about two people being “boyfriends” it only works if they’re not. if someone is called a “f*ggot” or “pansy” it’s only lighthearted if they’re not. if someone consoles a character about a break up, it’s only a joke if it’s a misunderstanding. so if those things are present in the text, and they are supposed to be jokes, they are textual evidence that the characters and relationship are not queer. and there are no equal and opposing jokes in support.
that is why people are unhappy. because they had the option of turning a joke of “look at these two guys, arent they gay, isnt that funny” into an actual queer story, and almost everyone wanted them to. and they weren’t afraid of pissing people off; they made adam and eve black, they gave god a woman’s voice, they made war a woman, they showed a quite brutal scene of jesus’ crucifixion, they made demons appealing and angels unsettling, they wrote a comedy about revelations, they were not worried about upsetting anyone. they could absolutely have made crowley and aziraphale queer. but they didn’t. they chose not to. neil gaiman chose not to. put that all together, and, yeah, that feels a lot like queerbaiting, especially since, from what i can tell, the crowley/aziraphale shippers have been the ones keeping their little fandom going for years. 
it’s not because people cant conceptualise of a romance denoted by anything but sexual intimacy. it’s because the story is full of gay jokes, but when people said, “so are they gay?” they got a noncommittal answer that every homophobic asshole will point to for the rest of time as evidence that there’s nothing queer in the canon, and they’ll be right.

These She-RaRecaps reflect my own personal take on each episode.
She-Ra Season 1, Episode 1-
The Sword Part 1:
This establishing episode is very thought provoking for me, so this will be a bit of a lengthy #She-RaRecaps
From the opening scene with Adora, she's serious, yet playful in an odd, but charming way. When Catra misses the beginning of the training session, it's clear Adora is leading this. She doesn't let any of her team get dragged behind, and they go back for Kyle when he gets hit.
Catra finally appears when all the hard work is done, and from her first line "Hey Adora. How's it hanging?" it was clear to me they had a connection. It's important to note that Catra offers her hand to Adora to pull her out of the pit- as this theme gets repeated in another defining moment.
Catra teases Adora for acting so "betrayed" (Great use of foreshadowing here by the writers!) Adora starts to scold Catra, only to tease her back about a mouse. We never get to know what the mouse scene entails, but it's a consistent jest Adora uses. Adora's laughing as Catra almost mimics her relaxed posture.
Shadow Weaver greets her, and not Catra.
The change in both Adora and Catra is evident from the moment she speaks. Their eyes widen in surprise, as Catra frowns. Adora straightens her stance, and like the well trained Horde soldier she is, she salutes Shadow Weaver, responding in kind.
Catra only pushes off the locker after Adora salutes Shadow Weaver. It's clear from Catra's expression while Adora is getting praised for completing the course in record time, that Catra has heard this many times before. Adora makes a point to mention Catra also had the same time as her, but from Catra's expression, she does not want the attention drawn to her.
Shadow Weaver's distaste for Catra shows in the way she gives the backhanded compliment of "How someone as unmotivated as you completed the course in that time, i'll never know."
Catra retorts in her own way "Always serving up those pep talks huh, Shadow Weaver?" while averting her gaze. To me, it was Catra's way of deflecting that pain of her accomplishment not being equal to Adora's because of WHO she is, not the result itself, by offering a snide remark.
Shadow Weaver's "Silence!" makes both of their eyes widen in fear. The shadow only moves across Catra's face, while Adora looks on in concern. It isn't until Catra apologizes that the shadows move away.
It's apparent that this is something Catra doesn't like (who would?) but also that Adora gets treated like she's special, whereas Catra's same accomplishment is met with demeaning commentary.
Something that stood out to me, even on the 1st watch through of the series, is how Adora doesn't stand in front of Catra, or say anything as she watches Shadow Weaver intimidate her friend. She just lets it happen. In hindsight, it's surprising, yet not.
Shadow Weaver separates the two of them to privately offer more praise to Adora, while advising her of her promotion to Force Captain. I found this surprising, since it would cause Catra more emotional pain to rub the promotion in her face.
Until I heard Shadow Weaver say "This is what I raised you for, Adora" As if to say 'You became this because of what I did"
It also speaks to the fact that Adora isn't following her own wants. Shadow Weaver continues the manipulation by stating:"Isn't this what you've wanted since you were old enough to want?"
Adora agrees, but it feels forced.
Later Catra is admiring her badge, finally pinning it on her left side (symbolic of her 'love and devotion to her family,' he Horde)
Catra pounces on her, knocking her down, grabbing the badge once she sees it. The gesture doesn't feel malicious, and looking back after finishing the series, Catra's action makes more sense.
To me, since affectionate gestures aren't encouraged, this became Catra's way of showing her affection for Adora- I'll be citing my reasoning a bit further down in the recap.
Catra looks at the badge in wonder, rather than envy.
The way she shows she's genuinely pleased with Adora's promotion, does show she's happy for her. When Adora tries to downplay the significance of the promotion, Catra responds: "Are you kidding?! That's awesome!"
It's only when Adora states that only she's permitted to leave the Fright Zone, that Catra gets upset because her time was just as good as Adora's, yet she isn't allowed the same privilege. Catra then asks "What is her problem with me?" Adora's response caught me off guard here, because instead of a neutral answer, she says "I mean, you are kind of disrespectful." This casts judgement on Catra, while also having Adora inadvertantly align with Shadow Weaver's mindset: Because Catra is disrespectful, it's her fault that she gets treated unequally to Adora
Catra makes a point to ask why she should respect Shadow Weaver (especially when it's clear Shadow Weaver doesn't respect her) and that Shadow Weaver only has power because of Hordak
Catra's next remark "I guess it sure must be easy being a people pleaser like you!" Which, in retrospect, she's right. As seen in the next scene when they're on the rooftop, Adora asks if Catra can "I don't know, be happy for me?"
Catra relents and states "It's not like I even care." She doesn't care as much about Adora's promotion, but about the freedom and advantage it would give her in the Fright Zone. She also admits she wants to "get out of this dump at some point before I die of boredom." (Being a child soldier doesn't sound as much fun as the training makes it out to be)
This feels like a veiled admission of what she really does want: Freedom

From her other teammates who don't seem close to her
From the Horde
and WITH Adora, even though she doesn't admit any of this.
Proving Catra right, Adora then borrows a skiff, because she knows going off on a spontaneous adventure will make Catra happier.
We see the closeness again when they're arguing about driving the skiff (One of my favorite casual catradora scenes, especially the "That is a problem for FUTURE Adora and Catra. It's important to see that even Catra puts Adora as the priority during this line, in part because it ultimately WAS her idea, not Catra's
They wind up in the Whispering Woods.
They know the reputation of the woods, how no squadron sent in ever comes out.
Adora let's her caution guide her, where Catra dives into the perceived danger.
Caution and carelessness, have too much of either and it can hold you back, or pose possible risk.
They nearly hit a tree, which Adora dodges, but a vine catches her in the throat (It definitely looked painful) She lands in a bush and finds a sword encased in thorns (This me that something can be as beautiful as it is deadly)
Adora touches the sword as a voice tells her "Etheria must seek a hero." Then the woman's voice addresses her by name, putting it in her mind that she IS that hero. This moment is what starts her literal "Hero's Journey"
We see Glimmer, an appointed Commander, interact with the Queen in forced formality. Her exasperated "Mom!" moment will always be hilarious to me. In this scene we see where Glimmer and her mother stand. Glimmer is focused on actively stopping the Horde, while her mother is overly cautious.
Adora opens her eyes to Catra calling her name. Adora explains about the sword she found, making Catra wonder if she's brain damaged.
Then she says "Don't be brain damaged. Oh, Shadow Weaver's going to kill me!" Which I took to mean that even though Adora was the one who fell off the skiff, Catra would be found at fault and punished.
Glimmer gets grounded for her failure to follow orders, in a not so typical yet still relatable child-parental figure scenario. The silhouette outside her window appears to be an assassin, but we're introduced to Bow. During their interaction, it's clear that they have a trusting and close relationship. When Angella confronts Glimmer again, instead of giving her space, her mother inadvertantly causes her to run off with Bow into the Whispering Woods.
Back at the Horde, Adora is having a fitful, vision filled dream, while Catra sleeps at her feet. It's a cute scene, and demonstrates through Catra choosing not to sleep on the top bunk bed, but at Adora's feet, how close they are. (Something I'm certain they had to keep hidden)
When Adora tries to sneak off, Catra follows her, and initially tries to go with her. Adora says "No, Catra, I dont' want you taking the blame on my behalf." Although we can tell Adora doesn't want her to take the fall for her, given the events that have already occured, it's clear Catra will be blamed for it. She also asks Catra to cover for her while she's gone, which Catra agrees to do, fully knowing the risk it poses to herself.
Bow and Glimmer follow the tech signal given off by the sword. Meanwhile Adora is making her way through the Whispering Woods. Bow relies on tech, while Glimmer trusts the light she saw. Adora, Bow and Glimmer fight over the sword, although Adora does prove more skilled in the fight. She touches the sword, and is introduced to Light Hope, who asks if she will "Fight for the honor of Grayskull"
Adora regains consciousness after Glimmer and Bow have captured her. Bow tries to be friendly toward Adora, yet she responds with a snarky "I prefer not to swap pleasantries with my captors" (Another favorite line from this episode) She questions if Bow knows Glimmer is a Princess and how dangerous they are to Etheria.
Glimmer finds remnants of a Horde raid, accusing Adora of being part of the 'orderly' poisoning the land, burning cities and destroying everything in their path.
Still loyal to the Horde she's known her entire life, and possibly feeling indebted to them for rescuing her and giving her a home. It's natural for her to defend them.
Bow gives the sensible counter that maybe she doesn't know the Horde like she thinks she does, since everyone else calls them the 'Evil Horde'
Glimmer runs back toward them as a giant bug chases her. Bow and Glimmer aren't any match for the creature, and Adora is able to grab the sword while they're preoccupied with the bug. She hesitates for a moment, before drawing the creature away from her two captors. Light Hope asks again if she will fight for the honor of grayskull. Adora repeats the phrase. Light surrounds her and she transforms into an unnamed warrior.

I'm back and forth on whether or not I want to make a post about this. It kinda relates to the post I reblogged. It reminded me of something.
My manager is a black lady, as are several managers of some stores in my area. I love these ladies. I have so much appreciation for them as people. They are fucking amazing.
But the amount of unjust criticism they deal with is insane. And it's because they're black women. One of these ladies that isn't my manager, is apparently "infamous" for being mean and hard to work with. I've worked with her and I'm fucking mad at that criticism cause its untrue. And I've learned that it mostly comes from non-black people.
She's got a tough ass work ethic, but if she's working, nothing she says is personal. And if you just treat her with basic fuckin respect and human decency, she has no problem with you. She's actually goddamn funny. She's so free with her compliments. She's kind. She's just herself so unapologetically and I have appreciation and respect for her. I get along with her. So I find the shit talked behind her back so fucking irritating. This one white girl she hired, whined so much about how tough she was and I straight up told her that she is just doing her job and if she just interacted with her like normal and realized that she's trying to be understood, then you wouldn't have a problem with her. That girl quit a month later.
I've noticed that a lot of white people do not actually last long at the gas stations around here. They have different expectations. I really dont have the energy to get into the bullshit with that. But the people who shit talk her are ones that dont want to actually do anything but run a cash register. And look, that's cool, but I wouldn't recommend a gas station if that's what you want to do. Cashier is not technically the job title, it's one of the many duties of what we do. Yeah it's unfair that we get paid minimum wage for doing more work than just cashiering. It sucks. But it sucks worse for everyone when you slack and have no respect for the people you work with. We're dealing with the same issues. But this isn't what this post is about. She is trying to run a store and the people who shit talk her dont want to do their job. She isn't going to be sweet to them about it. If I made a mistake, I dont expect the people around me to walk on eggshells. That is unfair to them. When my previous manager - a white man, was tough on someone, he wasn't shit-talked the way this other manager is. Its fucked up. I'm all over the place, ugh.
I'm not certain why, but even with the reconditioning I have been putting my brain through over the last decade with biases I was raised in, I've just never been one for judging someone based on stereotypes to begin with. I grew up poor. I grew up being friends with poor hispanic people and I got along better with non-white people because I happened to be poor. I can't relate to a lot of white people because I grew up poor. I cant relate to my racist cousins who are completely white because they had money. But I do recognize that this cant cover up biases and it's why I fight against internal biases.
I think getting along better with hispanic and black people to begin with makes the reconditioning easier, causs I already see them as human beings to begin with. My mom was careful to instill that in me and its something I appreciate.
But anyways. All of the black women I see, they get treated like shit. Because they're loud and tough and dont act like the ritzy white people in the area. But I dont see them that way? And its fucked up that they are treated that way. I'm loud. And I dont get treated that way. I'm the one that has the worst potty mouth in the store (several stores in our area tbh) and I dont get treated that way. And its cause I'm white. Its fucked up. Hell, if my manager criticized our area manager to his face the way I do, she would be fired. I get away with it cause I'm fucking white (I mean, i use it to my advantage tbh I still criticize that motherfucker cause he is such an asshole to my manager and I will not put up with it).
I just. I see how the black women are treated around me and it's something i actively try to fight against cause it matters to me, and they matter to me. My manager takes care of so much, and she has a face that she puts on that is so impeccably professional and patient. I want to help her out when I can, cause she deal with so much. I think it's one of the reasons why she and I mesh so well - we try to take care of each other equally. She is the manager, but I am someone who doesnt just work under her, I work with her. Idk how to articulate this. I just try to do some of the more store-adminstrstive stuff when I can cause it helps her out. And I like doing it.
Several of my regulars have tried to criticize my manager due to racist biases and I just do what I can to shut it down. Several have also tried to do the same to another coworker who is hispanic. There are of course different biases against hispanic women and it's another fight unto its own. I love this one coworker cause the moment I'm there, I get her laughing until the moment one of us is literally leaving. We work well together, but she is soooo easy to make laugh and it's fun to get her to laugh. So many make the complaints against her that are obviously based on biases - she is uncaring, mean, and just being a hispanic lady. To which I disagree and tell them that all they have to do is smile at her. These people look at me like the suggestion is revolutionary and my god. It's so fucked up.
These rich white people around are so fucking stupid. They try to say they aren't racist. Maybe not overtly, but they are. Their egos cant handle admitting it. But the fact that the basic suggestion of 'smile to her' or 'tell a joke like you tell me' is so fucking revolutionary to them is just. Its fucked up.
My black manager and my Hispanic coworker deserve so much more respect and appreciation. They are both so kind and so sweet and fucking hilarious. And I love them. I'm louder and ruder than them, my god, and I dont get treated half as bad as they do. I could go on and on about all the sweet little expressions of softness these ladies have that just get ignored by people. It sucks.
I just want the community I live with, primarily black and hispanic, to be happy and stress free and respected. I just want them to be loved taken care of. I enjoy the idea of being a steward of my community. I enjoy cultivating a happy relationship with these people. I enjoy confounding the biased people and making them question their biases and bigotry. I just want my community to be happy.
I'm sorry, this post is long and all over the place. I have a lot of feelings about this. It matters to me.
