“I just wanted to know how much I appreciate you staying late these past couple weeks.”

William’s voice is smooth, he’s demeanor calm, the slight tilt of his head and the casual clasp of his hands in front of him giving no hint to the turmoil in his brain.

You’re his employee. His best employee, no less. He can’t afford to lose you, to drive you away. So he’ll make sure you’re not looking him in the eye when his roam your body.

The words that come from your mouth are sincere. He knows this. He doesn’t much care in this moment however. That red vest is pulled across your breasts, and the top button of your shirt is undone, your tie looser now that the building is empty.

It’s his fault, how tight your uniform is on you. He has your size on file, but he always orders a size down, just for him. He doesn’t pay mind to the way teenage pizza boys and older brothers here with siblings watch you, because he knows he’s miles better than they are.

His eyes linger in the plastic heart-shaped sunglasses hanging from your collar, and he nods towards them. “And those? I do hope you haven’t been wearing those all day.”

It’s a gentle correction. No matter how much William favors you, he still must keep his image up. You shake your head. “No, I just got them out of my locker when I closed up with Robyn.”

“Where did you get them?” He asks, leaning forward. The movement is subtle, but he knows you catch it.

“It was a gag gift from some party,” you answer, taking them off your vest and sliding them on. William's breath barely catches in his throat. The frames are the same shade as the blood red lipstick you love wearing.

It’s your signature. It’s how he knows you’ve been in the break room, paper coffee and water cups stamped with your lips in the trash, lipstick printed cigarette buts in the back alleyway that he’s convinced himself are prettier than anyone else’s.

William's brain is rapid firing all kinds of signals, ranging from you're nearly 20 years younger than him, to why have I never felt this was about my ex-wife?

Everything about you seems to catered to William's preferences. You hold eye contact with him and customers, you're great with kids (including his!), and you actually appreciate the care he takes of his animatronics.

He chuckles as you look around his dim office with your heart-shaped sunglasses. "Well, now, look at you. Never was there ever a girl so pretty." You giggle, tugging on a strand of hair and sliding them up into your hair. "That's so sweet, Mr. Afton!" William chuckles. You're picture perfect and William is damn well aware that he's no good for you. "Please, call me William. It's only fitting that we remain on first name basis...as of your promotion to assistant manager."

Your eyes widen, and you let out a little gasp. "Do you really mean that, Mr. Af-- William?"

God, the way your lips form his name is intoxicating. He nods, his demeanor wavering slightly as you beam at him, thanking him.

It’s a power move, he knows. A selfish one, no less. But he can’t risk losing the one competent employee. And besides, the assistant manager’s uniform is closer to his, the pale purple shirt and darker tie, black slacks and black shoes (of your choosing, of course).

And who is he to deny himself that view?

In case anyone else is wondering how i made my Rina cosplay, here's an explanation!

The clothes were mostly just clothes I bought online and modified - planning to sew mostly from scratch for future cosplays though. Got a blue hoodie, replaced the drawstrings to be white and sewed the white stripes on. The skirt was too big so I took some fabric off to make it fit and used the extra to make into a purse. The shoes were just regular red hi-tops and I replaced the laces with light blue ones.

Now the part people are probably actually interested in, the Rina-chan Board!

Most of the Rina-chan Board was from PorzellanProps on Etsy - they sell either a fully printed version they ship to you, or the 3d model files for much less. I live in Ireland so getting a local service to print it was much faster and less expensive than buying the version they printed from the U.S.. It usually comes with swappable faceplates which seem to work really well from what I've seen other cosplayers do with them, but I wanted to make it work like Rina's!

Doing what I did with the LEDs it involved a lot more DIY and improvisation that I can't really get in get into without writing for far longer than I want to the day after an English exam, so I'll give the short version.

I ordered a perforated LED matrix from online, where holes are punched in the unused space between each LED so you can see through it from the other side. Unfortunately something like that was so obscure I had to email the company directly to get an invoice for it since they'd stopped listing it online, but if anyone wants to know where they can get one lmk and I'll see if I can find a link!

I needed a way to keep it in place, so I modelled a custom slot to glue between the faceplates, so the matrix would rest in it without sliding around. I also glued a plexiglass panel cut to shape between the front faceplate and the matrix holder.

To get it to actually work, I hooked the matrix up to an Arduino and installed all the plugins I need for it to run. To control the faces and brightness while actually wearing it (especially at cons), I also connected the Arduino to a small 12-key number pad and coded it so each button corresponded to a face. One fun fact about the default smile face is that it actually blinks randomly every 5-7 seconds!

As a last minute addition just before going to MegaCon with it, I wrapped the faceplates with duct tape and coloured it with an acrylic marker, then cut holes in the tape so the panel would still slide in. Both for aesthetics and structural integrity.

So yeah it's kinda scuffed and a lot went wrong in the process of making it, definitely wouldn't recommend mine as the best way of going about this But it worked well and held up for 3+ hours in a crowded con, so I consider that a win!

To save my fellow trans peeps time, heres The Correct Order You Have To Update Your Shit In to Legally Transition+*:

+I'm defining legal transition here as updating your name and/or gender marker on IDs and records. This is distinct from socially or medically transitioning but I can make guides for those too if anyone wants.

*This is based on the process in Colorado for adults. If you're under 18 you need a healthcare provider and a guardian to sign off on everything and aspects of this process can vary by state-some states require various degrees of medical transition before legal transition and a few unfortunate states don't allow for full legal transitions. PLEASE do your research, shortcuts will end in headaches. I like researching and helping people, lmk if you want help researching your state. Also, get a folder to hold all your documents and keep copies of everything.

1. In Colorado and a couple of other states, you have to submit fingerprints to the FBI and your state's BI and file your petition with copies of the letters FBI and [C]BI send you. You have to schedule the fingerprinting appt online and request that the prints are sent to the CBI and FBI. When the online system has you add an alias, put the name you intend to have. I got stuck on this page because I did not understand why they were forcing me to say I had an alias. Also, unless you need it for work, you dont need a fingerprint card. I got one just in case I need it for updating my name on my teaching liscense. I'll see I guess.

1. Court Name Change. There is a ~$60 filing fee and a certification fee but the filing fee can be waived if you submit that you cant afford the financial burden. (Also. You need the court order to be certified, have them certify it, I know it sucks that it's extra $) The name change petition needs to be notarized, your local post office or UPS should have a notary.

2. Birth Certificate. In Colorado you file two forms, one to update your name, one to update your sex designation-this form also needs to be notarized. You CAN change it to 'X' here. There is a $20 filing fee and a $20 fee to print out the new cert. $13 per extra copy. You can make an appt to do this in person or mail in your forms but I dont reccomend mailing if you're in a time crunch, plus theres an extra 'covenience' fee to do it by mail.

3. Social Security. They need the court order, the amended birth certificate, a form requesting a new social security card, and your ID so make sure you've got all those things before you go into the office to do that. This service is free! [Edit, learned the hard way you also need proof of medical intervention to change your gender marker]

4. Drivers Liscense or State ID. You have to update your social security card before you can update your ID. I did not realize this, and actually assumed it was the other way around. Important: SS first, ID second. With covid, your local Driver's License office is probably not accepting walk ins so you need to call to make an appointment. In CO, the form for updating your sex designation has a spot for concurrently updating your name. I have not gotten to this step so I dont know how much it costs but I assume however much an ID replacement is.

5. Everything else. I recommend starting with talking to HR to find out what documents your work needs from you and updating your bank account before your bills and records. Make a list of everything you can think of that you need to update your name and gender at. You can make this list before or after you get your ID documents in place but make the list, its longer than you might assume before you start and you will forget something if you dont and that'll be a headache for future you.

Note: the process for updating a passport is it's own can of worms, I highly suggest if you need one but dont have one yet, wait to get it until after you've legally transitioned, not that you can easily get one in non emergency situations right now anyways.
