you're grabbing lunch with a nice man and he gives you that strange grimace-smile that's popular right now; an almost sardonic "twist" of his mouth while he looks literally down on you. it looks like he practiced the move as he leans back, arms folded. he just finished reciting the details of NFTs to you and explaining Oppenheimer even though he only watched a youtube about it and hasn't actually seen it. you are at the bottom of your wine glass.
you ask the man across from you if he has siblings, desperately looking for a topic. literally anything else.
he says i don't like small talk. and then he smiles again, watching you.
a few years ago, you probably would have said you're above celebrity gossip, but honestly, you've been kind of enjoying the dumb shit of it these days. with the rest of the earth burning, there's something familiar and banal about dragging ariana grande through the mud. you think about jeanette mccurdy, who has often times gently warned the world she's not as nice as she appears. you liked i'm glad my mom died but it made you cry a lot.
he doesn't like small talk, figure out something to say.
you want to talk about responsibility, and how ariana grande is only like 6 days older than you are - which means she just turned 30 and still dresses and acts like a 13 year old, but like sexy. there's something in there about the whole thing - about insecurity, and never growing up, and being sexualized from a young age.
people have been saying that gay people are groomers. like, that's something that's come back into the public. you have even said yourself that it's just ... easier to date men sometimes. you would identify as whatever the opposite of "heteroflexible" is, but here you are again, across from a man. you like every woman, and 3 people on tv. and not this guy. but you're trying. your mother is worried about you. she thinks it's not okay you're single. and honestly this guy was better before you met, back when you were just texting.
wait, shit. are you doing the same thing as ariana grande? are you looking for male validation in order to appease some internalized promise of heteronormativity? do you conform to the idea that your happiness must result in heterosexuality? do you believe that you can resolve your internal loneliness by being accepted into the patriarchy? is there a reason dating men is easier? why are you so scared of fucking it up with women? why don't you reach out to more of them? you have a good sense of humor and a big ol' brain, you could have done a better job at online dating.
also. jesus christ. why can't you just get a drink with somebody without your internal feminism meter pinging. although - in your favor (and judgement aside) in the case of your ariana grande deposition: you have been in enough therapy you probably wouldn't date anyone who had just broken up with their wife of many years (and who has a young child). you'd be like - maybe take some personal time before you begin this journey. like, grande has been on broadway, you'd think she would have heard of the plot of hamlet.
he leans forward and taps two fingers to the table. "i'm not, like an andrew tate guy," he's saying, "but i do think partnership is about two people knowing their place. i like order."
you knew it was going to be hard. being non-straight in any particular way is like, always hard. these days you kind of like answering the question what's your sexuality? with a shrug and a smile - it's fine - is your most common response. like they asked you how your life is going and not to reveal your identity. you like not being straight. you like kissing girls. some days you know you're into men, and sometimes you're sitting across from a man, and you're thinking about the power of compulsory heterosexuality. are you into men, or are you just into the safety that comes from being seen with them? after all, everyone knows you're failing in life unless you have a husband. it almost feels like a gradebook - people see "straight married" as being "all A's", and anything else even vaguely noncompliant as being ... like you dropped out of the school system. you cannot just ignore years of that kind of conditioning, of course you like attention from men.
"so let's talk boundaries." he orders more wine for you, gesturing with one hand like he's rousing an orchestra. sir, this is a fucking chain restaurant. "I am not gonna date someone who still has male friends. also, i don't care about your little friends, i care about me. whatever stupid girls night things - those are lower priority. if i want you there, you're there."
he wasn't like this over text, right? you wouldn't have been even in the building if he was like this. you squint at him. in another version of yourself, you'd be running. you'd just get up and go. that's what happens on the internet - people get annoyed, and they just leave. you are locked in place, almost frozen. you need to go to the bathroom and text someone to call you so you have an excuse, like it's rude to just-leave. like he already kind of owns you. rudeness implies a power paradigm, though. see, even your social anxiety allows the patriarchy to get to you.
you take a sip of the new glass of wine. maybe this will be a funny story. maybe you can write about it on your blog. maybe you can meet ariana grande and ask her if she just maybe needs to take some time to sit and think about her happiness and how she measures her own success.
is this settling down? is this all that's left in your dating pool? just accepting that someone will eventually love you, and you have to stop being picky about who "makes" you a wife?
you look down to your hand, clutching the knife.

REBIRTH
closed, writing answers
We hit 50 followers. A! Thank you all!!
I picked the title because, well, I'm killing canon to bring it a new life
As promised, here is our event: an ask game where I give canon characters some depth. I'll use the hashtag #death note reborn if you want to look through them all once I've written some! :D
So, pick a character and one of the letters from the list below! I'll run this for about a month? I've never done a writing event before but that seems reasonable :)
 ★━━─・‥…━━━☆
╾PICK A CHARACTER
Anyone goes except Takada, the members of Near's or Mello's team (Matt is fine), Rem, Ryuk, BB, Ide, Mogi and Ukita. i. do not know them enough.
I'll have the most stuff for L, Light, Misa, Matsuda, Matt, Mello, and Near, but anyone not mentioned above is good to ask for!
you can also ask about my OC Rie :>
╾PICK ONE
A: all my thoughts (everything I think about the character, a mix of the below) | L, Aizawa
B: background rewritten (a version of their past with more and/or different details) | Mello
C: change (how do they change, how have they changed, how do they want to change?) | L
D: darkest secrets (what they keep hidden and why) | Soichiro
E: existential crisis (what about existence scares them?) | Matsuda
F: failure (who/what they're afraid of failing)
G: games (do they play card, board or mind games? are they any good?)
H: headcanon list (my top headcanons) | Mello
I: in-depth psychoanalysis (what it sounds like)
J: job (a different career for them)
K: knight in shining armour (what's their role in the mediaeval au, how their character is different) | Mello
L: lei's death note (my headcanons, but those that are present in my au and go against or contradict canon facts)
M: motivation (what's their motivation? what drives them as a person?)
N: number (I list 1 to 10 and something after each; see Matsu's for examples) | Matsuda
O: older (if they lived for another 20 years, what would they be like?) | Mello
P: personality rewritten (turning them from 2D plot devices to 3D characters with emotions + feelings)
Q: question (ask me a specific question)
R: regrets (what do they regret the most about their choices, would they make different ones?) | Light
S: sexuality and gender headcanons (what. what it sounds like.) | L, Light, Mello
T: terrified (what they're afraid of) | L
U: uncertainty (do they ever doubt themselves or their actions? when? why?)
V: versus (I draw them as close to canon as possible, vs. in my style with my headcanons) | Light
W: worldly desires (what do they want in life that's a bit shallow?) | Matt, L
X: x-ray (what goes through their mind?) | Light
Y: you need a diagnosis (what I'd diagnose them with)
Z: zen (what calms them down + makes them happy) | Mello, L
That's it! Send an ask with a character and a letter! Thank you again for all the love and support, my dear followers 💖

So I actually wanted to go through and listen to the video, "Your Vampire Boyfriend Explains His Turning". It doesn't exactly match up to the way they tell it in "The Vampire Boys Have It Out". I'd recommend you go watch both videos back to back because it's fascinating, and frustrating. Redacted is contradicting himself on some things to push hard on the idea that both Porter and Vincent are in the wrong. I'm not saying that Vincent is perfect, but the way Erik is going about framing the circumstances of their fight and changing previously established canon so "they both have their reasons" isn't the greatest. Details and receipts under the cut because of length, and because it gets critical.
When Vincent's talking about the circumstances of his turning to Lovely, he says at 5:00 that "all he's had is the clan, and they already knew the story. Will had told them." That the only person he's ever explained it all too was Sam, because William told everyone else on his behalf. Which, first of all, makes it sound like the clan was a lot more supportive overall and a lot more informed than ANYONE implied in the later video. Even if William edited out a lot of the details there's some things you just can't get around. Like the fact that William, who is old blood and promised to never turn another progeny, and so needed a damned good reason to break that vow. The fact that neither of them had ever met before that day. Vincent's refusal to discuss the exact circumstances of his turning to the rest of the clan, the fact that William had to list Vincent a missing person rather than letting the department handle the human authorities around his turning. The fact that Vincent was uninformed/unempowered before this and had to be introduced to the entire magical world from the ground up. He couldn't have known anything about who William was as a powerful political force, the advantage that being turned by old blood gives him, Vincent literally couldn't have arranged his turning for his own selfishness because he didn't even know that was an option, let alone the bonuses of having William specifically as a maker.
There's so much evidence that Vincent's turning was impulsive, any combination of the above facts implies that it wasn't a choice on Vincent's part, let alone something that he would try to "earn". Plus, William bought WonderWorld because of the lawsuits after the very public accident to be their home base. People saw Vincent get on the coaster, that he was riding it just before it crashed, and that's the same day the clan gets a brand new prince that matches the description of a "body that was never found"? Even if William didn't blatantly spell it out for the more oblivious members of the clan, it's SO obvious what happened from knowledge available to them. An "impulsive" turning isn't ever going to be a happy story.
Speaking of "publicly available knowledge"... we can argue about how much of the full truth is available throughout the general clan population (however many people that may be), but if Porter is close enough to William to be offered his last name, and close enough to know secrets that Vincent isn't aware of, shouldn't he have known William and been part of the clan long enough to have been around for the original explanation for Vincent's abrupt turning? Let alone, potentially, being closer to William and getting more personal details, at least from William's side of the story? Getting a new progeny isn't a decision to be made lightly. Porter very heavily implied that he's known William for longer than Vincent has; since Vincent's turning was the first time that William and Vincent had met, then Porter's been part of the clan longer than Vincent has.
Next, we know that both Porter and Adam were foundlings, but considering how fundamentally eternal and unchanging vampires are, it seems odd that there'd be such a population turnover in the clan that Vincent was tormented by "the rest of the clan" (per Sam, when he said it wasn't his place to tell other people's private stories at ~18:00 in the later video). Vincent was turned Feb 13, 2000. Sam is turned by Alexis in 2008 (per the timeline). That's not long enough for immortal vampires to forget Vincent's story. Even if there are a LOT of new vampires in the clan over time, Vincent is the golden boy, the prince. It's natural he'd be the subject of gossip, and the circumstances of his turning would be pretty good fodder for the rumor mill even if he doesn’t talk about it himself and not everyone is as principled as Sam is. If some of the newbies (or Porter) were getting prissy about Vincent never having to take his turn guarding WonderWorld, just the fact that he died there doesn't seem like it would be uncommon knowledge among the clan.
With how rare vampires are supposed to be, even without specific numbers and censuses it doesn't make sense. The Solaires are supposed to be the largest and most influential vampire clan in Dahlia, sure, but population-wise that still can't be that many people. Either the clan grows slowly enough that word about what actually happened to Vincent can get out and corrected, (and the minority of new people who don't know better perpetuating baseless rumors face charges of slander against the prince) or the clan should be large enough to effectively patrol WonderWorld without Vincent needing to take regular shifts. (which... wasn't Vincent on patrol the night he first met Lovely?) 'Duke' Sam has to patrol sometimes, but does Alexis take shifts too? If the clan doesn't have a large enough population to support even the "royalty" from skipping that duty (except for Vincent), then they can't have that many members. By that logic, the clan is small enough that "everyone knows each other's faces" and so why is Porter bitching about the unfairness of Vincent having the "perks" of the Solaire blood and name when he ought to know damn well why Vincent of all people generally avoids that particular duty?
Again, Porter was almost certainly around to watch Vincent join the clan. Why doesn't he know about the circumstances of Vincent being invoked for a single time? Vincent tried to starve himself to death because he refused to feed on humans. William couldn't convince Vincent to feed of his own volition, so he invoked him. That is a seriously drastic measure to take for someone who "wanted to be turned". Alexis' many invocations seem to be common knowledge among the upper echelons of the clan that we see in videos; if Porter is close enough to have the Solaire name and be part of the "family" and is close enough to William to know "more than could fill the city of Dahlia", why is he so out of the loop around Vincent? Porter is jealous, not stupid nor blind.
Porter's comments about the rumors that popped up when William 'brought home the new baby?' More proof that he HAD to have been with the clan at that point. How else would he have heard all those rumors? Porter was jealous of Vincent's circumstance immediately after his induction to the clan and didn't hesitate to start "tearing Vincent down" from the moment they met for the crime of "not being grateful enough" to William. Porter's accusations that Vincent wanted to be turned by William to get the associated power and prestige of being turned by "old blood" is proven to be a lie (again, ignoring the fact that he was uninformed before being turned) because Vincent avoided events (like the Summit) for years longer than most makers would have allowed their progeny. If Vincent wanted that prestige, what possible reason would he have to avoid events where he could flaunt it, and potentially acquire more?
I'll admit, we DON'T have a definitive date for when Porter joins the clan, or anything at all about Porter and William's relationship. The timeline website hasn't been updated with Porter's information yet. Even still, William offered Porter the Solaire name; that's supposed to be some great honor not offered lightly. That level of trust takes a LONG time to build. Porter had to have been part of the clan to see Vincent in the depths of his depressive and suicidal ideation, to criticize Vincent in the specific ways and faults that he does. The way the argument video is set up, though, it sounds like Porter was both there to torment Vincent at every turn from the beginning but also not there to miss every blatant fact of the situation around Vincent joining the clan.
Porter's claim that "all [Vincent] ever did was moan about how terrible it was to be you. As if we all didn't register in your mind as people with our own far worse problems" (15:00) is just so hypocritical considering his apparently willful blindness to Vincent's own deep seated issues. After having it pointed out to him, and being punched by Lovely, he sees it clearly enough to apologize and sound like he means it, but then why didn't he see ANY of the points from my first paragraph in the first place? Porter saying that "he didn't know" about how traumatic Vincent's turning was in the later video, while his voice sounds genuine, is either blatantly false or things are being retconned in order to make the feud between the two of them more dramatic.
Some of Porter's accusations do hold weight. I'm not going to lie and pretend that Vincent is some perfect angel in all of this. Vincent is arrogant, self centered, and blind to his own privilege. He used to be a manipulative ass. He's favored, powerful, and lucky in certain ways that Porter isn't, but that's not his doing nor his fault. But Porter's comment about Vincent's "egregious actions" is so vague as to be meaningless to me; if it's not worth elaborating on here why is it part of this 20+ year grudge match y'all have going on? Vincent couldn't choose his maker, he didn't know a single thing about William when they met and he was turned. The fact that Vincent has the self control to only "need" to be invoked once shouldn't be a criticism. There's years that they're skimming over for the sake of limiting it down to a 20 minute conversation for watchability. But I hate retconning, I hate this sort of character self-contradiction and hypocrisy especially to push "both of them are in the wrong", I hate that Sam is just being played as a mouthpiece to force this "grey morality" (12:38, 13:24) and defend both sides, and I'm not going to lie I expected Redacted to do better than this. Trying to equate Vincent's jealousy that Porter was well-adjusted to being a vampire with Porter's complaints that Vincent was traumatized and suicidal because of the circumstances of his turning is not okay.
14:30 Porter says: I said you were arrogant, and favored. That from the moment you were turned you've never wanted for anything. You'd never been invoked into doing something horrific for your maker's amusement. You've never been beaten within an inch of your life for the slightest transgression. You've never gotten so much as a slap on the wrist no matter how egregious your actions. You never had to guard WonderWorld. You'd never had to do anything. And still all you ever did was [look down on us]... You were turned by old blood... and didn't even have the tact to show a little gratitude for it.
19:30 Vincent says: I did look down on you. I hated that you seemed to enjoy being a vampire so much. I hated that you seemed so at peace with who you were. And what we had to do to survive. You made everything look so easy. And that made me feel broken. Even more than I already felt.
You can't have it both ways, Porter. Either you want Vincent to be just as broken and mistreated as you imply you were, or you want him to be happy and grateful about his "perfect" life. You can't complain that he never recognized that other people had far greater problems when you're the one who ignored that he's practically screaming with every action, every fact, every unsaid word that he's literally being forced against his will to stay alive, both by turning and by invocation until it literally hit you in the face. You don't have the right to tell Vincent, as a (formerly) uninformed unempowered human, that he shouldn't have manipulated something he didn't even know existed into getting the power you envy so badly. Porter was jealous of Vincent because of his circumstance first, and that jealousy made Vincent's every legitimate fault unforgivable and threw in a lot more illegitimate criticisms just for good measure.
I'm not going to pretend like I have the right answers for this, how it "should have gone". Everyone is going to have their own preferences, and at the end of the day this is Redacted's story. He makes the final decision. But I do have the right to point out flaws and criticize where I think he could have done better. Maybe he wanted Porter to be a hypocritical, jealous, contradictory character. Maybe he legitimately did just forget that the rest of the clan already knew (or easily could have put together) the messy details when he wrote that Porter didn't know better. He could have written it any way he wanted to, but he chose this way.

OC interview
Thanks @theelfauthor here!
Rules: answer the questions in the perspective of an OC!
I think I'll do Akash!
Are you named after anyone?
“Nope. Well, at least, not that I know of, but I don't think so.... Maybe there might've been a distant relative named Akash or something that I've never met, or maybe my parents knew someone named Akash when they were young and thought it was a cool name of something. I dunno, I don't think so, at least as far as I know.”
When was the last time you cried?
“Hahaha... It was...last night, actually, but it's not MY FAULT that it was Carla's turn to pick the movie and she picked the most heart wrenching film I've ever seen in my life!”
Do you have kids?
“... Dude. I'm fourteen.”
Do you use sarcasm a lot?
“Not really. I kinda just call things as they are, and sometimes I'll throw in a joke or something.”
What’s the first thing you notice about people?
“I literally have no idea. I think I just kinda see all of them at once. Not, like, in a deep way or anything. I just don't think I really focus on a specific detail. I guess... hair? I usually notice if someone's hair is better than mine, but that's a low bar.”
What’s your eye colour?
“What do you think? *Blinks slowly* Lovely lovely brown.”
Scary movies or happy endings?
“Sorry, I like happy endings. I scare super easy, and Robbie doesn't let me live it down. But he screams more. I flinch at everything, but on the bigger moments, Robbie is a total wuss. But yeah, happy endings. Sometimes they make me cry, I'm not ashamed.”
Any special talents?
“My middle school choir teacher said I have a good range. I hope that counts. I'm also good at making music playlists. I know how to cook, but I'm nowhere near Noelle's level. Um. I also am decent at pencil doodles, haha. If dragons, mainly. Uh... I... I'm not sure, what can I do? I can... tolerate a bad hair day? Ish. Man, why is this so hard?”
Where were you born?
“I think India, I was told India, but this whole Alium thing makes things very confusing.”
Do you have any pets?
“No, and that sucks! I want a cat.”
What sort of sports do you play?
*bursts out laughing* “No, no, okay, okay... I like watching sports, not playing. I've held the balls before -- NO NO NO NO the sports ball things, I've held those, but I don't play. I love watching baseball, though. Robbie thinks it takes too long, but he always sits next to me and gets the soda and hotdogs and popcorn.”
How tall are you?
“Five-foot-seven, which is an inch above Robbie. And no, I don't let him hear the end of that.”
What was your favourite subject in school?
“English and choir.”
What is your dream job?
“Woah, I've not that far ahead. Uh... No idea. Well, maybe an idea. School wasn't, like, awful, but it was a struggle for me. I think that if I became a teacher, I could make it better for kids like me, y'know? I'd like to give them things I never got.”

Hello! You seem to be knowledgeable about Japan-exclusive Layton stuff so I wanted to ask if you knew how many chapters were there in Mansion Of The Deathly Mirror? I tried to look it up myself but I couldn't find an actual answer
Thank you for all your translations btw I really appreciate them!
Hi, and thanks! <3 There are six chapters in total. For more info, I will simply give you (and anyone else who reads this) a Reddit post:
This post explains everything we know about Mansion of the Deathly Mirror and how to deal with the fact that this game is lost media.
That link aside, I have a transcript planned for Mansion of the Deathly Mirror just like I did with Chelmey's Casebook and London Holiday, but I don't even have the full first chapter completed yet, so I'll have to catch up whenever I have the time and materials to do so. I haven't had the time to work on it in many months, but don't worry, I haven't forgotten about it and I WILL make a better, FULL version of the translation, as soon as I can get to it (but right now I'm kinda supposed to be preparing for my PhD defence hahahahaha).
Now for some ramblings related to the above-linked Reddit post. Long story short: we have chances of securing the game. But for that to happen, we need to be patient, and we need to be silent. If you ever find footage of the game on youtube or elsewhere, no matter what you do, leave the player alone.
Let them upload at their pace and gather the crumbs as they fall off the table, because asking for them to let you eat the whole cake has never worked in the past. By that I mean: asking someone who owns the game "hey can I see your cool shiny thing asap plz plz plz" will result in that person blocking you, no longer posting any footage or content related to that cool shiny thing, and possibly disappearing off the face of the entire internet forever. I am neither joking, nor exaggerating.
I'm not talking that much about MotDM because we don't want to get too much attention drawn to it for the time being. But don't worry, if this game ever is found (and we have a whole team searching for it, we're just secretive on purpose -- for the reasons I mentioned here and for those that are explained in more detail in the Reddit post), we WILL make sure that the fandom knows about it. It's mostly just that right now, the only person we know who has the game and is somewhat willing to make a playthrough does not want any unwanted attention, and this person is not a friend of ours. They will stop uploading if people ask for them to upload faster, and they already threatened once to delete all their videos when someone asked them if they could "share the ROM." (No. No they won't. And even if they were willing to, we can't even make anything out of a ROM yet because of the hardware being stupidly complicated anyway.)
---
So there you have it -- your answer is "6," and I could have left it at that because I have no strict obligation to say anything more since you didn't ask for any other info haha.
Unless you want to dive into this endless rabbit hole, I highly suggest you just keep that answer, leave it at that for now, and go about your day minding literally anything else. We will get back to you and the rest of the fandom once we have real news about it! It's just that for now we're all stuck in limbo hahaha, there's some stuff done in the shadows but nothing worth hyping about until we're done with it. I mean -- we can't do anything until the one (1) person who owns the game decides to upload more footage of it. Given how desperately lost this game is, we should actually be happy we get to have anything at all, even if even NWoS might come out before it.
[EDIT] Needless to say, the player who is sharing some gameplay footage does NOT know that I have a website with the beginning of a fan-translation, and if they learn even so little that it exists, they are going to have a heart attack and will likely delete their entire playthrough. And nobody wants that.
I personally won't celebrate and heave a real breath of relief before footage of the full game from start to finish with as much content as possible is secured, which is why I don't talk about it a lot. I'm just paranoid that something might go wrong like it already has multiple times in the past hahaha
---
DO NOT show my website link around at random until I say it's ok to do so. And if you share it with friends, ALWAYS mention that I am the one running it. That way if you or your friends have questions, you know who to ask for explanations.

Hi there, I just wanted to say that I am glad that you are somewhat healthy again and am super looking forward to you updating the Nameless comic. Not only are the Pau'ans my favourite alien species in Star Wars (thus, getting some extra worldbuilding is great), but I also adore the idea that the Grand Inquisitor does not speak Utapese properly due to having being taken in by the Jedi as a young child, so the setting of the comic with him undercover on Utapau is totally up my lane. Additionally to that, your art & writing is incredibly well-done, totally could see this be canon. In this regard, I was wondering whether you have any headcanons about his original family background and how much he actually remembers of it, if anything at all. Either way, have a nice rest of the day and also a happy New Year. (English is not my native language, so apologies for all the mistakes in here.)
Thank you so much, you really made my day with your kind ask!
♥♥♥♥♥
A new comic update will be in a day or two! I have more pages set up for colouring, so you can check back here soon.
I hope you'll like the details of Utapau daily life I'm planning - I really love Pau'ans and Utapau, too, they were really cool in ROTS! My main motivation for the comic, really, was to show the Inquisitor on his home planet riding a cool varactyl.
I don't have any headcanons about his childhood on Utapau, except that his family had strong faith in the Jedi (since they trusted them enough to give away a child).
I don't think he'd want to meet anyone from his past, either to reconnect as a family or to seek vengeance for being given away. I think he'd probably consider himself above such notions.
I did scrap a draft scene where the Inquisitor meets an elderly relative who does not remember the Inquisitor's name. For the purposes of this comic, the Inquisitor's name was ~magically~ wiped out from all living memory when he joined the Temple Guard. (If he gets a canon name before I finish the comic, I will adapt to the new info and tweak some details of the comic script.)
What you will see quite soon, though, is a scene of when he was taken away from Utapau.
In the snippets of his canon appearances that I've read, he utterly resents the idea that the Jedi Order was his family. Reva, for example, feels the complete opposite and was very attached to her doomed little temple buddies, so his sense of not belonging can't be a universal Jedi experience.
My headcanon is that some of his emotion needs as a Pau'an child were not adequately met, not out of any malice, but out of ignorance for the particularities of his species.
I think if he grew up knowing that he would outlive almost everyone in the Temple by centuries, he might withdraw into books (and later, the Temple Guard) as more permanent fixtures that can't die on him.
And if his extreme emotional detachment was not discovered to be misplaced self-defense from having to deal with future loss, but instead valued as him following the Jedi philosophy... That's a solid foundation for festering emotions and a pull to the dark side.
The interesting part comes when he adapts to Utapau and begins to feel for the first time a sense of that missing belonging.

James before Anne exposed him:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
James after Anne exposed him:
Tumblr media
The thing about James is I worry that I write him too inconsistently, but in my experience, that's what people like him tend to be-- inconsistent, especially when it comes to their manipulation tactics and abuse. At some point I might be able to recognize a pattern to keep them happy, but you never know when it'll switch up on you. It's very hard to be around.
That being said, it's hard to figure out when they're being genuine! Thankfully, since I wrote James, I can tell you :3
So, he's not technically lying before, he didn't kill Charles, and it's later implied by Mary that he genuinely could not do it, for whatever reason, which is why he had sent her to do it instead.
Tumblr media
His grief and guilt are real, but ironically, he's offended that anyone would actually dare think that he killed Charles. He knows that people fear him enough to know that he isn't above doing it, which irritates him to no end, even though they're right. It should come as no surprise at this point that he hates being called out on his bullshit, so he will find any little loophole to make sure you're wrong-- and you know what, everyone kind of was. He wasn't lying, he'll tell you, he just didn't give you the whole truth!
"Which you're definitely not entitled to, by the way, I mean, do you mind giving me some privacy? It's quite a sensitive topic, you know."
Once he's found out, however, he's actually quite frightened, which you can tell by his little nosebleed, so he switches up to make it look like hey, actually, I'm owning this now! It was kind of slay of me! Don't you guys think I'm actually such a good leader for getting rid of the other one who was too much of a pussy to do anything? Aren't I so much more efficient? By the way, minor detail, I can kill you if you disagree. He acts reassured enough to make everyone believe him, that yes, this is in fact the best path after all, and through a religious angle... he has his six lives for a reason. Their Overlifer can't be wrong now, can he?
You will notice that he doesn't bring up anything about his grief over losing Charles, and that's because he is grieving-- but that hardly fits in with how confident he sounds, does it? He still doesn't want to come off as completely heartless, though, so he simply doesn't bring it up. In any case, it leaves most people deciding that his pride over his newfound power outweighs any grief or remorse he might have felt initially.
Now, when he speaks of an act of love, he means that it was love for Charles, not for the Disciples, which is how it was generally interpreted by his audience. With this you'll see that he's still not entirely condemning Charles through the few words he does speak of him-- he admits that he believes Charles had to die, yes, for reasons that will make more sense later, but there is more pity in his little statement on Charles in the third paragraph than there is triumph. "I freed him," he says so flippantly, which means that he believes Charles needed freeing in the first place! Something was seriously wrong, but he doesn't go into it. His little speech here was more focused on his own power in the present rather than why he made this decision in the past. Again, completely intentional on his part.
The fact of the matter is that he still feels the same way throughout all of this, no matter what he does or doesn't say. If anything, I will say he was being more honest about it before the truth was revealed; he wasn't lying when he said he wanted Charles back. Now that he's been exposed, he feels the grief sting even more, as if he had just found out along with everyone else, as if Charles had just died all over again. I've already spoken on why he decides he suddenly has to hide this now, but even so, he knows that everyone must surely remember how he acted about it before. So he will do what he always does when faced with his own inconsistent behavior-- ignore it, like it never mattered at all, and with time, he knows everyone else will, too. Just a tiiiny bit of gaslighting for the soul!
((I must add that it is unrealistic to expect every person to act consistently in all the time you will have known them, but what I mean to say here is that James' behaviors and dialogue don't make sense to the people around him because his abuse and manipulation are inherently illogical, as is anything he tries to justify it with. When I say inconsistent, I don't mean the growing and changing of a person, I mean the ways he constantly switches up to (knowingly or not) deceive other people and shift the blame on them. I repeat what I said in the beginning, abusers make absolutely no sense, and it's hard to get this across in writing because you want it to make sense. But I hope I did alright!))

001: for your ship of ships, Yunaka x Alear, and 002: for Timerra
Alear/Yunaka
when I started shipping it if I did:
I started genuinely shipping them when I played Engage for myself, because that's when I realized that oh. Oh this works so well.
my thoughts:
OHHHH THEY'RE SO GOOD. The parallels are immaculate, their dynamic is super silly in lighthearted moments and so heavy during more serious ones, they give hopelessly in love vibes and, you know. I adore them platonically too, obviously.
What makes me happy about them:
Yunaka finding love and support from her god of all people, someone who she always thought would judge her to be irredemable and instead adores her, and Alear trusting Yunaka despite her being expicitly sketchy being the first step in their self-forgiveness. When you think about it, Yunaka's background is basically an abridged version of Alear's.
Just, idk. They make me so happy!
What makes me sad about them:
Oh boy. Their pasts and their trauma. Yunaka's constant self-loathing and fear of her past coming to the surface and impostor syndrome and thinking Alear's too good for her. Alear's discomfort at being treated like a god and feeling alienated because of it. Past Alear. Just... Past Alear.
things done in fanfic that annoys me:
I don't think I've found anything that actually annoys me, to be honest. Which is good.
things I look for in fanfic:
Both the fluff with them being silly together (pre and post relationship) but also the angst of them dealing and opening up about their trauma.
That good hurt/comfort stuff 🥲
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:
For Yunaka I'd say Citrinne, since you know. "Enemies" to lovers is always fun
For Alear I don't have any other strong ships, so I'd say I'm fine with almost everyone. Except the kids and the rest of their family, obviously. And Lindon.
My happily ever after for them:
Them being happily married and obnoxiously in love while they watch over Elyos together 💕
who is the big spoon/little spoon:
They switch! I think they're very into cuddles, generally :3
what is their favorite non-sexual activity:
Yunaka infodumping about weapons with the detail of an MGS codec call while Alear listens to her with heart eyes ❤️
Timerra
How I feel about this character:
Love her! She's such a good mix of silly and serious, she can be really goofy but also she's one of the smartest people of the cast and will not fuck around with people she deems a threat, but she's super chill with anyone else!
If I had to describe her in a word, it would be "Fun".
All the people I ship romantically with this character:
Ivy's a fun one (thanks Koto), but her, Merrin and Panette are so polycule shaped. Oh, and Nel too!
My non-romantic OTP for this character:
Veyle! The fact she goes from being among the most skeptical about her to one of the most supportive once she actually joins for good is so interesting, and also the contrast between someone so carefree (on the surface at least) and someone who feels ashamed to even be alive. Just, idk. I really like them.
I think she'd be besties with Alfred too, wish they had supports together.
My unpopular opinion about this character:
She's smarter than she looks, her voice is great and she's a lot more interesting than people give her credit for.
Also the fact the Solm siblings are the most overlooked ones of the cast is... sus, to say the least. This fandom is not escaping the racism allegations.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:
I wish she was more involved in the story. Compared to the other roylas she and Fogado don't go through much that directly involves them, you know?
Oh also while I'm not sure I would actually want it in canon, recruitable Fell Timerra would've been cool.
my OTP:
See above. I don't feel particularly strongly about any of them to declare them my OTP, so...
my cross over ship:
If FEH counts as a crossover, she and Sharena would hit it off really well. Azura too would be fun! OH, and Rinea too. Just thought of it👀
As for other stuff, hm...
BOTW Zelda would be interesting, she and Daisy would be cute and, hm. Her and Aqua would be the crackiest of crack pairs but, you know. It could work!
I dunno, I'm just throwing stuff around at this point.
a headcanon fact:
She absolutely brings Fauxgado with her during battles and on official business. Nobody's going to stop her from bringing her poorly done youngest brother along!

Oh, hello there
Tumblr media
General Info:
Hello, this is a sideblog where I can post whatever I want to my heart's content, it's like me being an anon, since I haven't told anyone about this blog.
I'm not sure how often I'll come to check on it, but I'll likely do 2-3 times a month minimum.
I'm 18 years old, female, and am going to start college real soon, so life may be busy and draining during this blog's lifetime sometimes.
Please DNI if you are homophobic, transphobic, or a man since I want this to be a safe space for the people I cater to (primarily women).
If you decide to ignore the message above me, then I guess you can be a lurker or something, but if you give any sort of comments or asks that make me uncomfortable you can and will be blocked.
If you are a male-lurker, then don't interact with any of my DNI if you're a guy posts. This is because those posts are usually a bit more spicy in nature and involve graphic or heavily suggestive lesbian/womenXwomen content, and I don't want men to fetishize those posts, so stay away from things marked as Men DNI.
The people I cater to tend to be women, lesbians, sapphics, MTF, and AFAB. So long as you're pretty chill, and don't come around hating a bunch of the things I stand for, you can feel free to message me and have a good time reading up on my stuff!
I won't be doing any kind of Male!Reader things, and will usually have it be Fem!Reader or GN!Reader, since I'm comfortable with that, and I know how to write for them.
I won't be writing about dudes from fandoms I'm interested in, since the gals feel better to write about and they hold my interest more than the guys do. Plus, I'm mostly making this a WLW blog.
I'm not very good at writing for characters, so most of my things are definitely OOC, though I try my best to make them accurate.
I'm also probably not going to write much smut or anything, and if I do it'll probably be angst rather than fluff, or it'll be non-graphic, mostly focusing on the POV, rather than the sensations or anything in detail.
Oh, speaking of which:
I'll likely mostly just be writing angst and fluff. I love both, angst has a tendency to get me sad irl if I think about it too much, so I probably won't be writing too much angst in a row. My angst will also usually have happy endings and fluff in them towards the middle and ends.
Fandoms I write for (and current interest status)
Honkai Star Rail (High Interest Level)
Zenless Zone Zero (Decently-high Interest Level)
Links and other important junk
Rules
Umbrella Masterlist
HSR Masterlist
ZZZ Masterlist
Common Tags + What they mean
#Nack's Lists = My Masterlist + stuff involving my masterlist
#Nack's [Abreviated Fandom] Canons = These are my headcanon works. The abbreviation will be in the middle, such as #Nack's HSR Canons, being my headcanons for HSR character(s).
#Nack's Reposts = things I reposted. I'll likely have additional comments in the form of tags there, too. Usually contains ramblings and/or squee-ings.
#Quick Nack-cess = Things that I want to be "quick access". Usually things I'll want to go to to regularly check on. Mostly personal indulgences.
#Nack-dates = My blog updates. Usually important as it notifies changes or fixes.
#Nack Rants = me ranting. Sometimes it's a lot, sometimes it's not.
I put most of the tags listed here at the bottom of this post so that anyone can click on them and navigate the content.
My lovely Anons~!
🔺️
There's not many as of now, if you want to become an anon, just ask!

Happy STS! 😊 If you could visit any setting/location in one of your WIPs, where would you go? Why are you drawn to that particular place? What would you want to do there? 🗺️
Happy STS, Kate (@little-peril-stories)! Thank you so, so much for the ask! This is such a good set of questions!
(I'm working on catching up with my asks and tags, because my health has been one heck of a wild ride these past few weeks, so I'm slowly and surely coming back to being more active on Tumblr again!)
So let's start with this STS Ask!
If you could visit any setting/location in one of your WIPs, where would you go?
Ooh, this is a tough one! Since I've been working mostly on Enchanted Illusions (and Mutant Inquiries, but there are few places I'd actually want to visit in a near-dystopian cyberpunk future lmao) that's the WIP I'm going to use in this answer!
I'd definitely say that my top three, at least so far in Act 1 of the book, are:
1. the train rides from Ansburke to the other cities (for one, train rides in the middle of winter are highly atmospheric, plus, these trains are actually enchanted and have a lot of neat magical items and details to them. And these train rides are also the place of some pivotal moments for the main cast as well!),
2. Madam Olympia's Pastries and Baked Wonders, a bakery shop that is introduced at the beginning of the book - not only the magical sweets created in this shop are things I wish were real because they seem delicious, but the whole shop is like stepping into a unique universe of its own (plus the owner of the shop, the matronly faerie Madam Olympia herself is a wonderful character that I'd love to meet and I'd love to give her a hug and eat some pastries while she rambles about gossip),
3. the Hideout - Thaddeus' hidden hideaway in the city's catacombs, from which he conducts his revolution against the Hemlock Society and which becomes a headquarters for the main characters once they befriend him (I'd really, really love to visit this place in the story. For one, it is a giant underground system, almost like an underground "mansion/fortress" right underneath the city, which was built during the wars between humans and Myths and abandoned once it was over. Plus, it feels really homey, being a place of fun and reprieve for the main characters during their ongoing journey through the cities, and it also has some really interesting nooks and crannies about it that I can't spoil right now but can't wait to talk about!)
Some other "bonus" places I'd love to visit in this story are:
The Daemitya Mansion (because, let's be honest, it's one of the fanciest and most historic places in the entire city, and not only that is enough reason to want to visit, but the mansion has a whole maze of secret passages and hidden halls that only the Daemitya family know about, and those places are full of ancient secrets and magic, one only has to know the right password. Plus I'd just really like to be friends with Evangeline, lmao)
The "Fair" - it's the other side of the coin for Ansburke, a hidden undercity where the outcasts from above can be anyone and thrive, it's a haven for those unseen in the streets of the capital. It is a bit shady, and run by one of the most renowned vigilante guilds of the city, namely their leader Phoenix (Marcus Kallihan, who is an ally/friend of the main characters), but as long as you follow their rules and don't try to cause trouble, you'll have a great time. I'm a very curious person, and if I lived in Ansburke, I'd definitely like to pay this place a short visit - especially since it's one of the most mysterious and exciting places to be in the city.

twenty questions for fic writers!
Tagged by @samuelroukin 🙏❤️
1. how many works do you have on ao3?
14
2. what's your total ao3 word count?
78,977
3. what fandoms do you write for?
So far just Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and Baldur's Gate
4. top five fics by kudos
A Port in the Storm - Mass Effect - FShep/pre-embodied EDI
Blood and Flesh - BG3 - Durgetash
Stockholm - Mass Effect - FShep/Zaeed
The Crack in Everything - Mass Effect - FShep/Ashley
Stitched Together - Mass Effect - MShep/James
5. do you respond to comments?
Always. My favourite thing about fanfic is connecting with people. I've made some amazing friends through the comments section.
6. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Blood and Flesh for sure. It's Durgetash hate-fucking so... 😅I think all my other fics at least have a hopeful/bittersweet ending.
7. what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
If you count the sort-of epilogue in the author notes, Stockholm. They fuckin earned it after the shit I put them through. 👀 If you don't count that, probably Cold Feet.
8. do you get hate on fics?
Not yet! Knock on wood, because I will cry. 🥲 I'm pretty careful with tagging, I think that helps.
9. do you write smut?
Almost exclusively. 😅 It's usually mixed with plot though.
10. craziest crossover:
I haven't written one yet, but I do have this incredibly stupid Mass Effect/Letterkenny fic somewhat plotted out. 😂 Target audience of one (me), right there.
11. have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of. Much like my identity, I can't imagine anyone wanting to claim that for themselves. 😂
12. have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope!
13. have you ever co-written a fic before?
I have! It was fun but also incredibly stressful, so I probably wouldn't do it again.
14. all time favorite ship?
Shepard(any gender)/Kaidan/James. I could write essays on them. Ironically I have yet to publish a fic with them (though I have one in the works right now!) mostly because the standard I've set for myself with them is entirely too high. I blame PossumBones for writing them so perfectly I could never compare.
15. what's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I have an unhealthy amount of wips, but I don't want to give up on any of them permanently. The one that I most want to write, but is giving me the hardest time is my FShep/Aria piece, even though it's a short one-shot. I think because it has almost zero dialogue, and dialogue is the part I'm best at. 😅 But it's such a good little piece in my head. I just need to get better at writing before I can do it justice I think.
16. what are your writing strengths?
As above, dialogue. It always flows the easiest for me, and I'm usually quite happy with the end result. I've been told a lot that I'm good at nailing the character voices, which is very important to me. I spend HOURS listening to in-game dialogues before/while writing scenes, until I can hear them talking in my head.
17. what are your writing weaknesses?
Pacing, I think. I rush too much. (I have the same problem with my academic papers) I try to slow down and add more detail, but I get bored. 😅 I'm working on it...
18. thoughts on dialogue in another language?
I end up doing it quite a bit (if only in short bursts) because of James Vega. It's forced me to pick up Spanish again. I'm definitely not fluent, but I'm improving!
19. first fandom you wrote in?
Mass Effect. A Port in the Storm was my first piece I ever wrote. I published it just under a year ago. I actually just checked, and my first fic anniversary is exactly one week away! 🎂 I don't care if it's cheesy, I'm honestly really proud of myself for what I've accomplished in a year.
20. favorite fic you've written?
Stitched Together. I really, really love it. I wish more people would read it. 😅 It actually has started to pick up a little bit of attention in the last couple of weeks (just pushing it to my top five!), I'm not sure why, but every kudos that pops up on it makes me ridiculously happy.
I think my anxiety is officially too high to tag people today. 🥲 I always feel like I'm harassing people (even though I love getting tagged). So, please, seriously, if you want to play PLEASE DO and please please tag me (mutual or not) so I can read your answers! I honestly love reading these things.

So I've finally managed to start a supernatural rewatch since it ended. I had a really hard time coming back to it knowing it ended like.... that. I'm wondering if you (or anyone who reads this) has any really good fix-it fics to read instead of the finale? I'm planning on watching up to 15x19 (maybe only 15x18 depending) and then just reading a fic as the ending instead, so I'm looking for something that picks up right where it leaves off, and then wraps everything up in the way the finale didn't.
Thanks for all your meta and spn commentary and stuff. You're one of my fave accounts ♥️
oh gosh, hello! And thanks!
I've read a lot of great fix it fics for the finale, and heck i should've made a special tag for them on tumblr, but I think most of the ones I've seen have made it into my episode tag... only there's like 60 pages of posts in there and I'd venture to say that the majority of them aren't fics, but meta, gif sets, art, and like... generalized yelling. All of which may be interesting and useful to you anyway! Even if it's not all fic. :D
I've written several fics myself that fall under the umbrella of Series Fix It, too:
Revenge of the Text (25.5k, rated T because my intent was to make something that COULD have aired, though after posting I realized I could've given more screen time to Sam and Eileen, even though I pretty much give them their happy ending right at the start lol... priorities, after all)
what goes around... (468 words, rated T, short and angsty with a happy ending)
The Famous Final Scene (202 words of pure fix it)
Everything I've written set in canon since the finale is effectively finale fix it, too, even if it doesn't directly address the finale, because the assumption is life just went on, they got Cas back, and without Chuck's power there to beam their reality to our tv screens in our universe, some network exec panicked and aired ~whatever that was~ instead of what actually happened in their lives instead. So we have holiday fluff with For The Best, case fic with lectio in equis, and coming October 6 for the DCBB this year, I'll be posting Heart Shaped Box. And that's just my own fix its. There's soooo many.
Another good place to start is probably the Episode Fix-It: s15e20 Carry On tag on AO3, though ymmv on various different iterations of "fixing it." Like... i have less than zero desire to read any fix it involving them all being dead in heaven. That's not fixing it for me. So mind the tags on each story and find what YOU want to read. Because there's a lot there, and that means something for everyone!
And also, like some of my fic referenced above, post-canon fic that isn't directly ABOUT fixing the finale, but still carries on the original story either like the finale never happened at all, or else handwaves the fixing bit and moves right on with their lives without explaining in detail how everything was fixed-- a lot of those fics won't get tagged with the 15.20 fix it tag, for obvious reasons. Post-canon might be another good search term, to look for, as well.
Good luck with your rewatch! :D

Hey! I’m really enjoying “nothings wrong with dale”, so we’ll written and compelling!!! Though I feel like I would have blurted to him I knew he was a demon the second we had a moment alone—anyway! I was just wondering if the story is going to end with pregnancy, discussions of future pregnancy (that will be gone thru with not like people outside the relationship expecting it), or children in any capacity im sorry to say that I won’t want to finish it if that’s the case. But I would really really appreciate the warning!! And even if it does you are very talented and will get kudos from me, I just won’t keep reading 😓 thank you so much and I hope you have a wonderful day!!!!
thanks for saying you're enjoying Dale - I'm glad!
its so hard to figure out the exact moment to confess to your fiance that you know he's a demon ;)
i'm happy to answer your main question, but since it's spoiler-ish, i'm gonna put the answer below the read more - always happy to answer any sort of general warning-esque questions!
there is no confirmed pregnancy in this story or attempts by any characters to make someone pregnant against their will (or rape/dubious consent especially)
i think i'm mostly following the intent of your question, but i admit the parenthetical part is a bit confusing to me so i'm just gonna give a few more details in case the above didn't cover what ur after to cover my bases
given the nature of the story and their position as nobles, for whom continuing their bloodline is super important as that's how this whole system works, it is the intent of both the reader and Dale to have children - that's just the name of the game. the reader in this story does plan to have children, both because its expected and because they genuinely want children
currently, i don't have any plans to discuss this in detail (future children plans that is) and while the story ends in unprotected sex, there isn't going to be any sort of breeding kink or specific discussion around hoping said sex will result in pregnancy specifically (and lasky's mostly done being gross and he certainly can't b a problem by the end of the next part)
i have not written the rest of the story yet, so its possible some of the following might be included: maybe some characters might make offhand remarks/jokes about the honeymoon resulting in children? maybe the reader speculates if there will be any negative side effects from dale's demon condition/nature on a future child? maybe the reader interacts with their nieces/nephews and thinks vaguely of their own future children?
overall, i'd say pregnancy is not a key part of this story but neither is it specifically avoided
if i misunderstood or that wasn't what you were looking for - just send in another ask! if anyone else has similar general 'what will and will not be in the story' questions in terms of warnings or squick etc, feel free to send them in
thanks for reading!

How I write my smut short stories #2: More insights
Last week I showed you my dashboard and how I plan, organize, draft and schedule all the k-pop smut stories I post on this blog.
Since then, I've really gone all-in to improve the dashboard I've built, and added some new cool features to it :D To be honest, this week I've spent more time on this than on writing – because it's so much fun to me to organize a project like this!
So, in this post I wanted to show you some of the additions I've made. This is nerdy, a bit weird, and probably not something anyone other than myself care about, but it is fun to me and some of the screenshots in this post will give you more insights into what is yet to come on the blog ;)
So, strap in and let's go! Maybe you'll see your bias?
Series Overview Pages
Tumblr media
I've redesigned the pages for each specific series that I'm running on the blog. Currently, those series are Most Memorable Sexual Experiences of NCT (as seen in the image above), Quick Fix Dirty Kpop Imagines and Mixed One-shots. Each of these have their own dedicated page to manage all the stories that belong to the series.
With the new design, this page gives me easy access in the top left to the work I need to continue doing (stories that I've yet to finish writing), which allows me to quickly see and jump into what story I should be working on right now. It also gives me more information that I previously needed to look up on Tumblr, without having to leave the dashboard. It's all there, on a single organized page! :)
More Story Details
Tumblr media
On the main dashboard I have a section that shows all published stories regardless of what series they are from. I've added more details and information that I can get from this section.
As you can see in the image above, published stories now also show things like "On Fire" which means that the story received more likes than most of my other stories on Tumblr, and "Quick Read" or "Longform" which has to do with the word count of the story.
Idols Database
Tumblr media
The biggest new addition to the dashboard is the "Idols" section.
The Idols section features an individual page for each member of the groups I've written about – or considered writing about. It currently includes more than just NCT, TXT, BTS and RIIZE, which are the only four groups I've ever published a story about. (I won't tell you which groups though).
From the main view of all the idols you can read quite a few things: the name and image of course, but also their age (which is automatically updated on their birthday), nationality (relevant to some stories) and how many stories I've published about the idol. I try to spread things out so I don't just write about my bias all the time.
Tumblr media
As seen above, I can click a menu to change how I view the idols. For example, I can get an alphabetical list or sort them by their age, or by how many likes they've received on average among any and all stories I've published about them. This is useful information to find out who you want to read about the most ;)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The second image above shows the "By Total Word Count" view. I've set a goal to try to write 10,000 words about as many different members as possible, and the little circle to the right shows my progress for each member.
Idol Pages
Tumblr media
If I go to an individual idol I will see all the stories I've written about them. Here I can also view ideas that I've added as stories but not yet finished (or even started) writing, and scenes that I've written but later removed/deleted because I wasn't happy with them.
Notice the three buttons at the top: If I click them I create a new story on the dashboard that is assigned specifically to this member, so I don't need to manually create and assign a new story each time I have a new idea about a specific member.
Idol-specific Writing Prompts
Tumblr media
This is where things maybe get a bit weirder :P Remember the Random K-pop Smut Writing Prompt Generator I wrote about? I've incorporated it into the Idol pages. If I scroll down past my stories and ideas for the specific idol I'm viewing, I'm met by what you see in the image above.
Each time I refresh the page the prompts change. But, unlike in the actual writing prompt generator (which is a separate page from the dashboard), the idol/member stays fixed. This is great, because it means that if I know who I want to write about but not what I want to write about them, I can just go to the member and open their page :D
Several yet-to-be-announced Quick Fix stories that I've already written have started this way. While I don't follow the prompts by the letter and want to make each story feel like it was made for that member, I LOVE the prompt generator and how it inspires me!
So, that's a little more insight into how I work and run this blog. Am I going totally overboard with this setup? Absolutely! Am I ashamed of that? Definitely not! I love organizing projects and building dashboards like the one I've shown here, and this smut blog has given me a new project to do so around. I'm having a lot of fun with all of this :D
+ Read part #1 about my dashboard here.
+ Learn more about the K-pop smut writing prompts here.
And don't worry – lots more smut is on the way too!

Fic writer interview!
Thanks @mercurygray for the tag!
How many works do you have on AO3? 120 for my 2 pseuds, sunlightdances and glowinghorizons!
What’s your total AO3 word count? 520,569
What are your top 5 fics by kudos? take a running start (the 100) keep me safe inside (your arms like towers) (the 100) one less day to be alone (the 100) give you everything i have (the 100) they will see my strength (in this love i found) (the 100)
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I try to! I usually get to them all, even if I don't respond the same day. I really appreciate anyone who comments on my works, even old stuff for fandoms I don't write for anymore (see above fics and kudos lol) and want to say thanks.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? This is a hard question! I've always tried to be a happy ending writer, but I think some of my newer fics for HBO War stuff is probably more angsty because of the subject matter. I'm just now feeling confident in leaving a chapter or a fic itself ended on a angsty note.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending? Pretty much everything I write is fix-it fic, so usually they all have happy endings, but I'm partial to this fic for Marvel (Modern!Bucky x Reader) - Safe Place to Land on AO3 or Tumblr.
Do you write crossovers? I've only done a few, but I have a WIP on hiatus that I started ages ago that's a Supernatural/BoB time travel fic featuring one of my OCs! It's here: Lost in Time
Have you ever received hate on a fic? Yes and it still haunts me lol. I got the longest comment of my writing life (like, several paragraph essay) on one of my modern AUs for The 100 about how I should give up writing and it went into extreme detail with quotes and everything critiquing me. Honestly, it really threw me for a loop because it wasn't a constructive criticism, it was mean, and I stopped writing for a long time because of it.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind? If I feel it has a place - I'm more likely to write a smut-adjacent, probably-still-rated-M heavy petting scene with lots of angst and tension. That's what I like to read if I read smut, too.
Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not an entire fic, but a writer in another fandom wrote something SO similar to one of my Marvel stories and there was a paragraph that was copy/pasted. I confronted them and they deleted it, and their blog shortly after. It sucked lol.
Have you ever had a fic translated? Not that I know of!
Have you ever co-written a fic before? I haven't! I'd love to try it one day but I'm also such a procrastinator I fear I'd mess up any working relationship, haha.
What’s your all-time favorite ship? Based on what I've written, I still have a soft spot for Clarke and Bellamy from The 100, even though I won't ever write for that fandom again. Their dynamic was so great to write about. Back in my Fanfiction.net days I loved writing for Olivia and Lincoln from Fringe, too.
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? I have a Dean Winchester/OC fic where she's a national park ranger and gets roped into shenanigans that I love, but I don't see myself going back to it unfortunately.
What are your writing strengths? I hope that I'm able to really set a scene and use dialogue and sense words to really put readers in the head of a particular character. I really want people to finish reading a piece and have a feeling.
What are your writing weaknesses? Sometimes I think I use too much dialogue and I tell rather than show.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? I would love it, but I don't speak another language confidently enough to use it the right way, and I just don't trust Google Translate to make it smooth enough, haha.
What was the first fandom you wrote for? I think I wrote RPF for the band McFly when I was 13 but I don't think any of that still exists, thank god. My first published fic was something for AltLivia/AltLincoln (Fringe) on ff.net in 2011.
What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to? I'm in a Discord server for the Nancy Drew CW show and I'd love to write for Nancy/Ace, but I'd need to rewatch the show to do it confidently, I was just a casual watcher with friends when it was on TV.
What’s your favourite fic you’ve written? My favorite thing is my current WIP Barren Soul (Band of Brothers). I've been working on it on and off since 2020 and I think it has some of my best writing. It's also fun to re-read because I can see how I've grown as a writer over the years.
Tagging anyone else who wants to fill this out - no pressure!

A year ago today, I got myself out of a bad situation. Which calls for celebration, don't you think?
I won't name names or go into heavy detail, because I'm not here to stir drama. I have no interest in inviting conflict into my life, after working so hard to escape it.
But this was a big part of my journey.
I spent a lot of time in one very specific fandom, centered around a BNF. I was overwhelmed, and miserable. People I thought were my friends villainized me. Weaponized my feelings against me. Turned on me, because I didn't agree with them. That space was a BNF echo chamber, and dissent was treason.
I am cursed with loyalty and stubbornness to worrying degrees. I don't let go of anything easily. A Taurus, a Hufflepuff, in the worst of ways. I stayed in a bad situation for a very long time. I put a lot of time and effort trying to mend a problem that no one else saw, let alone wanted to fix.
I had panic attacks often. I would sit at my keyboard trembling with dread. I would sit under my desk and cry. I shed so many tears over these people.
Leaving that space was the hardest thing I ever did. Love and fear stayed my hand many times. But I was pushed well past my breaking point by the end. I left in the early hours of morning, while most people slumbered. I shook the entire time. And when the deed was done, a great weight lifted off my shoulders, and all I felt was relief.
Today is a day of many conflicting emotions. Lingering hurt, and guilt. Lingering thoughts of "what if?" If only I'd done more, tried harder, stayed longer, things might be different. But I choose to focus on pride. Being proud that I found enough self-worth and self-love to leave. Proud that I had the strength to get out, however scary it was, however hard it was. Proud of how far I've come since then.
And today, I think it's important to let you know a few things:
You do not owe creators comments, or any feedback. They're nice to give, but they are not owed.
You do not owe creators adulation, or worship, however skilled they are.
You are not required to agree with everything a skilled or popular creator does, says, thinks or feels. It's good to remember that they are as human as the rest of us.
Other people are not bad or wrong for disagreeing with a creator you like.
Other people are not bad or wrong for not liking a creator you like.
It is not okay to mob, or otherwise attack people in "defense" of your favorite creator.
Fandom was built on love, joy, and fun. If you're more miserable than happy, leave.
No person or community is owed your loyalty. It is okay to walk away from people and spaces that are making you uncomfortable, or are hurting you.
Curate your experience. Block tags, block people, block whatever you need to. Real life is hard enough; fandom shouldn't have to be.
You are just as important as everyone else in fandom. You are just as important as people you see as more talented, more popular, more charming, more whatever you see them as. You are just as important as people with more followers, more friends. You are just as important as big names. You deserve respect, and decency, the same as everyone else.
There is no shame in taking care of yourself. Stop reading. Stop commenting. Stop writing. Stop interacting. Take a break. Never return. Change direction. Set boundaries. Make new friends. Explore new places. Pick up new hobbies. Whatever you need to do. You matter. Taking care of yourself is important, whatever that looks like.
Other people matter, too. Be kind.
Though I'm speaking out a bit, I still live with a lot of fear, which is why reblogs are turned off. My old community is not above dragging people through the mud by name. Since I refuse to stoop to that level, I do ask that if anyone from there finds this, please leave me be. You can continue to talk about me behind my back, that's fine, but I don't want vitriol in my inbox. If you want to reach out and talk and not mention how awful I am, that would be fine.
I worked hard for the peace I have. I hope others can respect that. And I hope anyone that needs the encouragement to stand up for themselves, if anyone needs to be told they can get out, I hope this helps. You don't have to suffer. You don't have to "put up with it." If you feel stuck, if you feel alone, you don't have to be. Fandom is a big place. There are people out there and places out there that are right for you.
If you are in a bad situation, and you need someone to talk to, my inbox is open. Take care of yourselves, please!
