added some more things!! ( since @zorkaya's post gave me some more inspiration :3 )
updated/added stuff: putting it under a readmore b/c it got long after a while lmao
Tumblr media
— In her personal questline, in Act 2 she'll tell you her real name ( Mukuro not Avarice ), and in Act 3 she'll inform you that she's a song dragon and open up more about her past.
— She has a noble background but b/c with baldur's Gate being the type of place it is, she has deep routed ties to the shadier side of everything, so she'll know a lot of the Guild, some fellow assassins, and generally other shady individuals while also knowing high nobility.
— When Tav/Anyone connects with her via tadpole, they'll see images of grand parties with nobles, an assassination of a noble from the viewpoint of the assassin ( her ), a perspective shift of someone of humanoid height to something larger, and feel an untamed rage.
— Because she's a song dragon, she'll be softly singing to herself in battle or humming a tune softly, or in her head ( because she doesn't want to draw too much attention to herself ). And she'll be signing as she bathes.
— Also being a dragon, and being on the evil alignment, Mukuro can and will go into fits of pure rage ( especially if left in camp for a long time w/out being taken out with the party ) and that'd result in her sneaking off at night to just hunt for sport basically, so the next day somewhere there'd just be a bunch of corpses with large bite marks on them/whole chunks bit off of them.
— because of her innate ability of tongues, she can read infernal and thus knows what Astarion's scars say. depending on how well she's gotten along with him, she'll chime in that she knows infernal and can translate ( if asked nicely enough ) otherwise she'll just play dumb and be like ' I dunno ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ' but if it's then revealed later that she knew infernal this whole time and she'll just respond with ' well you never asked if i knew - you just kind of assumed and we all know where assuming gets you~ '
— it's very rare for her to change in and out of dragon form ( because she doesn't want people to know ) but it takes 30 seconds to change from human to dragon and 120 seconds to change from dragon to human. The change can happen when she wills it or automatically when she hits 1hp remaining.
— The dialogue/actions that'll gain her approval will be things like; not stepping in to save Sazza, teasing or being rather mean to people, being nice to children and animals, and any type of 'deception' or 'intimidation' choice really.
— When/if romanced, Mukuro won't be jealous so long as she isn't the first person in the camp/party to be slept with since she'll see that as just wanting to be friends with benefits.
— She'll get super jealous if you sleep with her first and then go off to someone else in camp. Honestly, it would cause MASSIVE disapproval lmao - one could go from max to 1/4 of the 'attitude' bar b/c of that because she hardly lets herself actually fall in love with anyone ( it's only happened once, maybe twice ) since a lot of her ' lovers ' have been targets for assassination ( or a way to get more money ), she doesn't get close to anyone really. So the moment she thinks her feelings are being toyed with she'll be pissed for a moment and then just depressed ( what goes around comes around after all ).
— If led along/toyed with emotionally and/or ended up being broken up with, depending on the dialogue chosen, Mukuro will stay ( somewhat ) friends with them or leave the party permanently and you will have to deal with her at the end when she's sided with Gortash and she will be in dragon form.
— She's open to developing her skills with the tadpole but will not evolve she kind of doesn't have all that much control of her rage sometimes and fears that if she evolves/lets herself go more then it'll be impossible to contain
More little fun facts about bg3 mukuro lol mainly about her equipment but then just some fun little tidbits
— has dual daggers that have features to them, one being added damage while obscured by shadow and the other is added necrotic damage to KO'd and Sleeping targets.
— has a pair of rings, one granting shrouded in shadow and the other one grants misty step
— Of course, her three ( 3 ) body piercings have passive features to them too :) they all give a +1 to Charisma ( for +3 total ) and two of them give an added +1 to deception ( for a total of +2 ).
— a choker that grants Pass Without Trace
— boots that give +1 to acrobatics and stealth
— fingerless gloves that give +1 to dex
— armor that's 12 + dex modifier
— she can be easily recruited/join the camp/party lol
— she's not a Tav/Custom Origin character - she's someone that can be found out in Act 1 area
— you can either find her on the bridge in front of the goblin camp, or in the DANK crypt where you get withers ( she's already cleared it and you can get both her and withers ) - She's set her own little camp there b/c she absolutely turned into a dragon to escape the pod she was in and since that has water access she just swam in there after having a little rage fit and once she calmed down some she explored it some and found the button that activates the skelemans
— When she's in camp she's either doodling other camp people or just lounging really - she probably volunteers to cook for everyone when she's been at camp all day because " I need SOMETHING to do - I've been here bored all day and I can only draw so much " she probably will also offer to scout at night more than the others since she really doesn't need sleep
— Honestly this tadpole in the brain thing is the thing that's made her the angriest b/c with just a simple probe of her mind one could uncover that her real name is Mukuro, not Avarice, that she's a dragon, not a human, and she's been alive for like 900+ years lmao and she HATES that the secrets she's kept so harshly under lock and key could be so very easily accessed and damn near impossible for her to stop them from being accessed

Signs they Love You
Back for my 1 post a week to prove school hasn’t totally killed me! When I get a semester break, I’ll post more often. In the mean time, feel free to leave me chats or PMs for stuff you want to see! :) Something nice and sappy for an okay Saturday
These turned out really long so I only did Lucifer, Mammon, Levi, and Satan. I have to get back to studying :/. Maybe I’ll have part 2 next week?
Lucifer
You wouldn’t be able to notice it because his pride wouldn’t allow you to. One of the brothers (or, to Lucifer’s extreme mortification, Lord Diavolo) would have to tell you
He’s not sure if it’s just the appreciation of you not being as totally chaotic as his brothers or genuine human naivete that has somehow worn off on him, but he loves you
Will be outed by sappy, soft stares that last 2 seconds too long.
Asmo and Satan are the first to notice and he LOATHES that
If he’s tasked with waking you up that morning, his knock will be firm but his voice will be gentle. Almost persuasive or commiserating
If you’re feeling overwhelmed by school workload, he may have a private conference with the teacher and grant you a minor extension. Will you know it was him? No. Is he happy to see you brighten up and refill with hope just a bit? Definitely. Is it worth the teasing from Lord Diavolo? ...Sure.
If he responds to texts in the wee hours of the morning when he’s still pouring over paperwork, he likes you.
Anyone who knows him can see how his eyes soften when someone else talks about you. There’s a fond slowness to his actions, how he glides his hand imperceptibly over his chest as if to feel where that emotion is coming from. Boy is whipped.
Should Lord Diavolo invite him out for a meeting, he will bring you back something small. Something he thought you’d like. Beel is upset. Levi yells “SIMP!” from the second floor and prepares for Armageddon.
Actually reminds you about assignments if you’re not already up on it yourself. Your success is his joy.
Is very keen on if/when you burn the candle too long and has a sixth sense for bad sleeping habits. Will put you on a stricter schedule for your own health
It may take almost all of the brothers to do it (or just help from Diavolo) but if he gets drunk on Demonus you’re getting a whole BOOK about why he likes you. He almost charms your memory away but everyone practically dog-piles on him not to because he needs to deal with his feelings.
You’re the only one he won’t chase out of his study when he’s doing paperwork. He’ll even set up a little fire if you like the fireplace.
How he confesses: tries to take you on a fancy date to Ristorante Six. Does not know that Lord Diavolo and Barbatos know about this (damn time-travelling butler!) and basically crash the date just to encourage him. Just long enough to encourage him.
Kind of an, “So you chose this idea, Lucifer? Admirable! I’m sure your date will be amazing! Enjoy your evening!” as Diavolo walks back to his table.
Does Lucifer deny it? Look and see how red his face is. If you’re really not sure, ask Diavolo. He will gladly yell, “I cannot lie!” across the restaurant.
Mammon
For all his talk, when he really, really decides he likes you, he doesn’t know what to say.
He can console himself with how obvious it is and how you made the best choice, but he has to show it! What to do?
Mammon’s kind of confused about it because he doesn’t really change how he behaves. You didn’t catch on already?! C’mon, human!
What, does he have to spell it out for you? Do an interview with Majolish?
His first tactic is to just be around you. Be subtle, and maybe cuddle a bit more than usual. Things to show he’s kittenish and at your mercy. Comfortable with you.
You don’t seem to be getting the hint so he throws the net a little wider by trying to find things you like or that you’ve been talking about. They mysteriously show up at your door.
It sends the others on a gossip train about who your admire could be and when they list off everyone BUT him, he wants to slam his head on the table.
Feeling tired? Coffee! Backpack heavy? Silly human, the BEST man can help you with that, OBVIOUSLY! Mammon jumps at the chance to do any little thing for you because he cares. His actions always speak louder than words.
Feeling kind of defeated and embarrassed, Mammon will go talk to the flock of crows that meander around the House of Lamentation’s yard when he really needs them.
For the next few days you’re accosted in the nicest way, birds chirping at you and dropping off various shiny things
You collect them, finally showing them to Mammon and he’s embarrassed that his representative animal has taken to courting you on his behalf.
He calls them to him, embarrassed and ready to rant or fall into the ground never to be seen again, when they start talking. Repeating all the things he’s practiced saying.
“Hey baby,”, “Hey human,” “Love you!”, “Silly! Silly!”, “Dummy, no, dummy!”, “My human.”
It’s broken and confusing, six or seven bird children cawing in your face and bobbing, but you get it.
Levi
Levi’s not the best at expressing himself but it counts, right? As much as he hates to admit he’s some kind of shy tsundere, you know what that is, right? He doesn’t have to say it?
Yes. Yes he does. His brothers are getting too chummy with you and you don’t understand his signals. Time for Plan B.
If you get invited to stand in line for a midnight release, he hopes you take it. Then it’s just you two hanging out in line? What’s this? He brought snacks? Totally not for the two of you BUT you an have some if you’re hungry. It’s whatever
When he’s not doing boss raids and playing with online friends, he’ll ask if you want to play something with him. A Player 1 needs a Player 2, you know?
I headcanon that Levi knows how to play some unusual instruments like the kalimba or a real ocarina. I could see him making you a song on one of those. Or just playing it because you inspire him. He’s very good with a harp and will play it when he’s in the mood.
Boy also likes to draw and paint. Especially loves watercolors. Would it be weird if he gave you a painting of you as a mermaid? Just you and the ocean. Beautiful.
Was there a really cute plush or knickknack you liked? Levi has his ways, regardless of how rare or limited edition it is. It will be yours.
He has a hard time understanding a passing comment of interest versus a genuine want because he genuinely wants everything he’s interested in, so if you hear a whisper about him almost securing something, stop and look it up. Make sure it’s not super expensive!!
Probably outed by Belphegor, who feels like Levi’s broadcasting all of his stress, frustration, and hope through his dreams. (”His dreams are weird. Just different ways of asking them out, and if he messes up it restarts like a simulation. My brain hurts.” he says to Beel)
You’re allowed to come into his super-restricted bedroom haven when everything’s too much. It’s very exclusive since the Mammon incident. Be happy.
Might go swimming in his big tank and pick a seashell or rock to make a necklace out of. He hopes you like it.
If he’s not outed by Belphie, some of his online friends made a game demo they wanted him to try. They specified it was two player so he asked you to join in. While he’s in the middle of bragging about how he knows people, knows developers, he totally misses the dating-sim like dialogue and the big reveal.
Doesn’t really kick in until he realize the characters look like you two. You’re busy saying ‘Yes’ to “Do you like me?” as Levi absolutely threatens to rip them apart six ways to Sunday. Almost in full demon mode, too.
Everything falls out of his brain and quiets in his throat when he realizes the characters are kissing and ‘THEY SAID YES!’ flashes on the screen.
“Y-You like me?”
“Yep.”
It was that easy all along. Levi thinks he’s going to faint.
Satan
Becomes aware of it pretty quick but ignores it for a looong time
Is it rude or foolish of him to assume you would also like him back?
Run away into books. A solid plan. If you don’t think about it, it’s not an issue
Oh, but it is an issue when you fall asleep after a mutual day of reading, forced in by bad weather. He finds his heart fluttering in a painful squeeze as he quietly whispers all the things he dare not say when you’re awake
It’s nervous poetry, and it’s beautiful
Satan tries to get himself back on track, to focus on reading, and he gets frustrated when he’s stuck on the same page almost an hour later
When you’re on the brain he just can’t do anything else
How does one show their affection? He’s swimming in books for a new reason now, as voracious as ever
He brews you a pot of Melancholy Coffee and is a bit disappointed you don’t know the meaning behind the bitterness. Wants to break the pot when Lucifer jokes about how it tastes exceptionally bitter to him as well.
Okay, so coffee didn’t work. What else do people do when they show their affections?
Asmo suggests a ‘not a date’ date and Satan sighs inside. Sounds like a lot of work and effort. It’s not that you’re not worth it, but he has a feeling that everyone will know and look at him the whole time.
Tries anyways. You guys go to a beautiful nature conservatory and take a tour of the plants and some indigenous animals
You’re starting to realize it now, he can tell. Satan tries to answer your question without saying it while you’re at school. You walk together, he offers to carry some of your books, and always requests that he be your project partner
Nearly there. If there was a single defining moment for him, he’d want it to be classic. He shows up at your door with a rose and asks you to go on a moonlit walk.
Mammon’s poking fun about how cheesy and cliche it is, Asmo’s gearing up to shut Mammon’s stupid mouth, and Satan just whisks you out the door with an aggravated sigh.
No matter what side of the house you’re on, Asmo throws up the biggest, gaudiest handmade sign that’s like ‘CUTEST COUPLE! 10/10!’

So I read 86 LN vol 1
S1 anime covers the entire Vol 1 except for the latter's epilogue, so full anime spoiler here.
And as of this writing, I'm still on Vol 2 so the things I mention here are solely those that happen in Vol 1. Idk if a thing happens in the latter volume, gotta dodge spoiler so I don't browse about it.
There was an interview with a person inside the anime industry that basically said "The point of an anime adaptation is not to be an exact replica of the original material, but to shine as its own medium for a story." I forgot who it was and I can't find the interview anywhere for the life of me, but that statement opened my eyes. I agree with it, that's why I can appreciate the differences between LN/manga and anime, especially if they turn out good and/or interesting.
And that's exactly what happens in 86. I'll start with this: I watched the anime first, and after I read the Vol1 novel, I actually like the anime more. Because there are a lot of meaningful original scenes in it
And because the Vol1 novel turns out exactly what I fear when I first watched the anime: that I won't care much about the squadron aside from the main 5. (Look, the anime promotional materials mostly only have Lena and those 5 only. As shocked as I was in the anime, I did have an idea where the story would go from those alone). The rest are barely mentioned. Not even the girls are named in the novel, even though they do talk and Lecca is even prominent in anime.
For example, the second half of the first episode, the one that shows Spearhead squadron's daily life right before Lena contacts them, is anime original scenes. Kujo already dies the moment the novel starts focusing on the squadron. Simply put, a lot of the squadron members that aren't the main 5 or Kaie get a *lot* more focus in the anime, like Daiya, Haruto (For characters who appear on the introduction page, their novel screen time is less than I'd expect), Kujo and Lecca. While the other members often appear in the background and actually behave like equal members instead of glue-them-on figurines.
(Idk if those other members are named and/or designed in the light novel before the anime is a thing or when the anime becomes a thing.)
The anime also adds relevant information in the Raiden's talk with Lena in EP7, like Kaie receiving racial abuse from 86 (in fact in both versions, she is the first one to get highlighted about this) and Haruto also having prominent Giadian Empire blood like Anju and Shin. These weren't in the novel.
I might be just nitpicking here because I love Kaie and Haruto, but see, this scene is amazing on its own. This is where Raiden and the squad reveal the weight of their motivation all along, that they *each* have different backgrounds and different kinds of sufferings, yet they are all sentenced to die, and they all choose to fight because they know no side is saintly but some things are still worth fighting for.
The prominent characters' deaths (besides Kaie's) are often mentioned with only one or two dry lines. I expected at least Daiya's to be detailed more, but it's just that so matter-of-fact-ly. Well I came from the anime, so I guess it's normal if I expected something as heartbreaking.
I broke down HARD at the last half of EP10 and that is nowhere in the Vol 1 novel. (Having Hands Up to the Sky playing in the background is also an advantage for being an anime. Fuck that song, I now play it 24/7 in despair)
Having a lot of original anime scenes really complement the story's nature. That there are two different sides of life here, it's not just Lena's or 86's only. And those couldn't have intertwined if not for their willingness to listen and communicate.
I know I mentioned this some days ago but really, I can't get over how many of the merch are Lena (and Annette) being cute doing cute stuff while the story itself is actually depressing. Merch staffs know the market lol.
- Novel side -
That said, the novel does have an advantage that the anime/visual media doesn't: Internal explorations and explanations.
It's obvious from the get-go, but Asato confirms that the inspiration of Republic of San Magnolia and its racial discrimination and genocide is taken from Nazi Germany in WW2. The Republic who favors the white/silver haired-eyed Alba drives Colorata out of the 85 sectors, overtakes their properties, and forcibly sends the now-called-86 to either fight their war and die, or work on the wall and die.
The life inside the Republic is also elaborated on. Class always exists, even inside one race only. The center of the republic is for the elites, Lena and Annette's families included. The farther a sector is from the center, the lower the education and economy there is. Most of the military come from these areas, which explains why Lena herself is in difficult situation. Since no one in the military is either capable or willing to bring change.
It's *insane* how easily the Republic could create such vile lies, and how easily the majority of the citizens go along with it.
Gotta admit, Asato does a good job at foreshadowing the fate of the 86, the truth that we can only see after Ep7 of anime. It is mentioned that supposedly, 86 soldiers will be welcomed back once their 5-years term is up. Lena once wonders about it, but ultimately she buys it thinking that surely they must have come back to another sector. She only realizes it's utter bullshit after Annette points out how, 9 years later, they have never seen even one Colorata inside the Republic when they should have seen at least some. This also shows that Lena has never ventured to the other sectors to find out more, probably due to work or maybe she's still a sheltered noblewoman in the end.
And the mentality of the majority of Alba is shown differently. Whereas the anime uses the academy classroom to show how deeply rooted the racism against 86 is, the novel uses Lena's mother who a) more or less does the same as the classroom, and b) presses Lena to get married and preserve their pure noble bloodline. This, when the nobility doesn't actually mean anything anymore. This version shows not only Alba's racism but also Lena's strained family life.
There is a scene of an Alba high school valedictorian who, during his graduating speech, says “My friends died fighting the Legion.” I’m not sure this will make it to the anime, and it’s just a minor scene in the novel, but the weight of that scene is heavy.
The science of Para-Raid is explained, which has something to do with tapping the collective consciousness of humanity and connecting it to one another. A bit far-etched but I guess that works, science fiction and all. But I like the part where despite (or maybe because?) of connecting via hearing only, the other senses are faintly receptive as well. For example, one can sense that the other side is biting their lips in frustration, something like that. Of course, actual real life things like sensing the hidden bitterness or elation in a talking partner's words are present, this being a story where listening matters.
The novel elaborates on Raiden's stay with the Alba old woman. He calls her Old Hag, but it's clear he greatly respects her. The part where she screams and curses in the middle of the road at the Republic soldiers who take Raiden and the other children away stays in Raiden's mind forever, and so it does to me. Ngl it is quite a chilling scene.
Same with the story of the previous Laughing Fox, Theo's Alba commander. It turns out, the entirety of Theo's first squadron didn't like him at all and bet on how fast he'd tuck tail and run back to the Republic. When he faced his death the way Theo explained, he sent a message to Theo revealing he knew about it and knew his place to not ask for acknowledgment or forgiveness. This made Theo regret why he didn't try to talk more with his commander and he keeps thinking about it forever. Now it makes even more sense why Theo, blunt as he is, is willing to listen to Lena and when he snaps, he wonders if his late commander would do the same.
What actually happens in Kurena's backstory is also touched upon. While in the anime some viewers could think "Man, I get where you're coming from but chill out." The novel graphically shows her parents being toyed on by the Alba soldiers while her sister protected her, the two could only watch, and then the same sister got sent to the battlefield to die. Now at that, anyone would think "Man, no wonder she can't chill out. Not with all that trauma."
I also like the addition that Lena can sense Kurena is the one who dislikes her the most.
The novel describes greatly that it isn't just Alba and Non-Alba. Essentially speaking, Non-Alba is called Colorata, and they consist of different race groups as well. Just as Alba is associated with the color silver/white, the other race have their associated colors as well. Asato assigns races to the named members in Vol1 and what their distinguished color features are. This also explains why Anju is exiled despite looking like an Alba.
It's a question that I pondered on when I first saw Shin's armor plates, and that I pondered harder on when Chise died: What happens if there is no armor plate to carve its processor's name's on? So it turns out Shin would substitute it with anything; piece of wood or some random piece of metal. For Chise's case, Raiden, Chise's leader, suggested using the wing of Chise's in-progress airplane model. Which did my heart so bad because I'm strangely fond of Chise and finding out that in his spare time in his limited lifespan, he was working on an airplane model made me sob.
I'm not particularly into mecha, and could care less about how it moves. But Asato did a good job describing the fight between a glorified suicide car and a line of brand-new solid A-grade tanks. Special mention to I-IV because wow the concept arts for all the mechas are so cool, even though I don't really understand. (Asato even said to I-IV "Go draw a tank so horrible it's stupid for the Juggernaut" and I-IV came up with the current Juggernaut)
You know how the Republic greeting is "Glory to San Magnolia and the five-colored flag"? I won't disclose who says this in what situation, but there is someone of Colorata saying "If you hate colors so much, you should have just colored your flag white" AND OOOH THE BURN SO HOT HOT HOT
Tl;dr: Bottom line is, I personally enjoy Vol 1 because I already watched the anime and got attached to it. If I were to read the vol 1 first, most likely I wouldn't fall this hard for the series. Hell, maybe I wouldn't even pick it up in the first place because I knew it'd be depressing. But this is not to say that the LN is bad. It’s very good, it just does not really touch the lives of other soldiers whereas that’s the very thing that I love from the anime.

First Reading
Exodus 20:1-17
The Law given at Sinai
God spoke all these words. He said, ‘I am the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.    ‘You shall have no gods except me.    ‘You shall not make yourself a carved image or any likeness of anything in heaven or on earth beneath or in the waters under the earth; you shall not bow down to them or serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God and I punish the father’s fault in the sons, the grandsons, and the great-grandsons of those who hate me; but I show kindness to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.    ‘You shall not utter the name of the Lord your God to misuse it, for the Lord will not leave unpunished the man who utters his name to misuse it.    ‘Remember the sabbath day and keep it holy. For six days you shall labour and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath for the Lord your God. You shall do no work that day, neither you nor your son nor your daughter nor your servants, men or women, nor your animals nor the stranger who lives with you. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth and the sea and all that these hold, but on the seventh day he rested; that is why the Lord has blessed the sabbath day and made it sacred.    ‘Honour your father and your mother so that you may have a long life in the land that the Lord your God has given to you.    ‘You shall not kill.    ‘You shall not commit adultery.    ‘You shall not steal.    ‘You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour.    ‘You shall not covet your neighbour’s house. You shall not covet your neighbour’s wife, or his servant, man or woman, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is his.’

Responsorial Psalm
Psalm 18(19):8-11
R/ You, Lord, have the message of eternal life.
The law of the Lord is perfect,    it revives the soul. The rule of the Lord is to be trusted,    it gives wisdom to the simple.
R/ You, Lord, have the message of eternal life.
The precepts of the Lord are right,    they gladden the heart. The command of the Lord is clear,    it gives light to the eyes.
R/ You, Lord, have the message of eternal life.
The fear of the Lord is holy,    abiding for ever. The decrees of the Lord are truth    and all of them just.
R/ You, Lord, have the message of eternal life.
They are more to be desired than gold,    than the purest of gold and sweeter are they than honey,    than honey from the comb.
R/ You, Lord, have the message of eternal life.
Second Reading
1 Corinthians 1:22-25
The crucified Christ, the power and wisdom of God
While the Jews demand miracles and the Greeks look for wisdom, here are we preaching a crucified Christ; to the Jews an obstacle that they cannot get over, to the pagans madness, but to those who have been called, whether they are Jews or Greeks, a Christ who is the power and the wisdom of God. For God’s foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and God’s weakness is stronger than human strength.
The Word of the Lord

Gospel Acclamation
John 11:25, 26
Praise to you, O Christ, king of eternal glory! I am the resurrection and the life, says the Lord; whoever believes in me will never die. Praise to you, O Christ, king of eternal glory!
Or:
John 3:16
Praise to you, O Christ, king of eternal glory! God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son: everyone who believes in him has eternal life. Praise to you, O Christ, king of eternal glory!
Gospel
John 2:13-25
Destroy this sanctuary and in three days I will raise it up
Just before the Jewish Passover Jesus went up to Jerusalem, and in the Temple he found people selling cattle and sheep and pigeons, and the money-changers sitting at their counters there. Making a whip out of some cord, he drove them all out of the Temple, cattle and sheep as well, scattered the money-changers’ coins, knocked their tables over and said to the pigeon-sellers, ‘Take all this out of here and stop turning my Father’s house into a market.’ Then his disciples remembered the words of scripture: Zeal for your house will devour me. The Jews intervened and said, ‘What sign can you show us to justify what you have done?’ Jesus answered, ‘Destroy this sanctuary, and in three days I will raise it up.’ The Jews replied, ‘It has taken forty-six years to build this sanctuary: are you going to raise it up in three days?’ But he was speaking of the sanctuary that was his body, and when Jesus rose from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the scripture and the words he had said.    During his stay in Jerusalem for the Passover many believed in his name when they saw the signs that he gave, but Jesus knew them all and did not trust himself to them; he never needed evidence about any man; he could tell what a man had in him.

Third Sunday of Lent, Cycle B ~ The Samaritan Woman
(Liturgical Colour: Violet)
First Reading
Exodus 17:3-7
Strike the rock, and water will flow from it
Tormented by thirst, the people complained against Moses. ‘Why did you bring us out of Egypt?’ they said. ‘Was it so that I should die of thirst, my children too, and my cattle?’    Moses appealed to the Lord. ‘How am I to deal with this people?” he said. ‘A little more and they will stone me!’ the Lord said to Moses, ‘Take with you some of the elders of Israel and move on to the forefront of the people; take in your hand the staff with which you struck the river, and go. I shall be standing before you there on the rock, at Horeb. You must strike the rock, and water will flow from it for the people to drink.’ This is what Moses did, in the sight of the elders of Israel. The place was named Massah and Meribah because of the grumbling of the sons of Israel and because they put the Lord to the test by saying, ‘Is the Lord with us, or not?’

Responsorial Psalm
Psalm 94(95):1-2,6-9
R/ O that today you would listen to his voice! ‘Harden not your hearts.’
Come, ring out our joy to the Lord;    hail the rock who saves us. Let us come before him, giving thanks,    with songs let us hail the Lord.
R/ O that today you would listen to his voice! ‘Harden not your hearts.’
Come in; let us bow and bend low;    let us kneel before the God who made us: for he is our God and we    the people who belong to his pasture,    the flock that is led by his hand.
R/ O that today you would listen to his voice! ‘Harden not your hearts.’
O that today you would listen to his voice!    ‘Harden not your hearts as at Meribah,    as on that day at Massah in the desert when your fathers put me to the test;    when they tried me, though they saw my work.’
R/ O that today you would listen to his voice! ‘Harden not your hearts.’
Second Reading
Romans 5:1-2,5-8
The love of God has been poured into our hearts
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, by faith we are judged righteous and at peace with God, since it is by faith and through Jesus that we have entered this state of grace in which we can boast about looking forward to God’s glory. And this hope is not deceptive, because the love of God has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit which has been given us. We were still helpless when at his appointed moment Christ died for sinful men. It is not easy to die even for a good man – though of course for someone really worthy, a man might be prepared to die – but what proves that God loves us is that Christ died for us while we were still sinners.

Gospel
John 4:5-42
A spring of water welling up to eternal life
Jesus came to the Samaritan town called Sychar, near the land that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. Jacob’s well is there and Jesus, tired by the journey, sat straight down by the well. It was about the sixth hour. When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, ‘Give me a drink.’ His disciples had gone into the town to buy food. The Samaritan woman said to him, ‘What? You are a Jew and you ask me, a Samaritan, for a drink?’ – Jews, in fact, do not associate with Samaritans. Jesus replied:
‘If you only knew what God is offering and who it is that is saying to you: Give me a drink, you would have been the one to ask, and he would have given you living water.’
‘You have no bucket, sir,’ she answered ‘and the well is deep: how could you get this living water? Are you a greater man than our father Jacob who gave us this well and drank from it himself with his sons and his cattle?’ Jesus replied:
‘Whoever drinks this water will get thirsty again; but anyone who drinks the water that I shall give will never be thirsty again: the water that I shall give will turn into a spring inside him, welling up to eternal life.’
‘Sir,’ said the woman ‘give me some of that water, so that I may never get thirsty and never have to come here again to draw water.’ ‘Go and call your husband’ said Jesus to her ‘and come back here.’ The woman answered, ‘I have no husband.’ He said to her, ‘You are right to say, “I have no husband”; for although you have had five, the one you have now is not your husband. You spoke the truth there.’ ‘I see you are a prophet, sir’ said the woman. ‘Our fathers worshipped on this mountain, while you say that Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship.’ Jesus said:
‘Believe me, woman, the hour is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know: for salvation comes from the Jews. But the hour will come – in fact it is here already – when true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth: that is the kind of worshipper the Father wants. God is spirit, and those who worship must worship in spirit and truth.’
The woman said to him, ‘I know that Messiah – that is, Christ – is coming; and when he comes he will tell us everything.’ ‘I who am speaking to you,’ said Jesus ‘I am he.’    At this point his disciples returned, and were surprised to find him speaking to a woman, though none of them asked, ‘What do you want from her?’ or, ‘Why are you talking to her?’ The woman put down her water jar and hurried back to the town to tell the people. ‘Come and see a man who has told me everything I ever did; I wonder if he is the Christ?’ This brought people out of the town and they started walking towards him.    Meanwhile, the disciples were urging him, ‘Rabbi, do have something to eat; but he said, ‘I have food to eat that you do not know about.’ So the disciples asked one another, ‘Has someone been bringing him food?’ But Jesus said:
‘My food is to do the will of the one who sent me, and to complete his work. Have you not got a saying: Four months and then the harvest? Well, I tell you: Look around you, look at the fields; already they are white, ready for harvest! Already the reaper is being paid his wages, already he is bringing in the grain for eternal life, and thus sower and reaper rejoice together. For here the proverb holds good: one sows, another reaps; I sent you to reap a harvest you had not worked for. Others worked for it; and you have come into the rewards of their trouble.’
Many Samaritans of that town had believed in him on the strength of the woman’s testimony when she said, ‘He told me all I have ever done’, so, when the Samaritans came up to him, they begged him to stay with them. He stayed for two days, and when he spoke to them many more came to believe; and they said to the woman, ‘Now we no longer believe because of what you told us; we have heard him ourselves and we know that he really is the saviour of the world.’

Survey #345
“this is the year where hope fails you  /  the test subjects run the experiment  /  and the bastards you know, is the hero you hate”
Do you have any scars from burns? No. Have you ever built a snowman? Yes. Growing up, Dad would always help my sisters and I make them. Good memories. How about a sand castle? Yeah, but not any impressive ones at all. Just the ones where you fill a pail with sand and flip it over. Have you ever used crutches? Tried when I tore a ligament in my foot, but the pair we had were too tall for me to use them comfortably at all, so I never really "used" them. Have you ever been in a tree house? No. Would you ever move to China? No. Did you ever go to daycare as a kid? I went to one for literally a day because Mom was disgusted with how I was treated. I accidentally wandered into the wrong room or something and one of the guardians slapped my hand when she scolded me, and I think I sobbed the rest of the day, but partially because I had AWFUL separation anxiety from my mom. Afterwards, Mom just had people she knew babysit my sisters and me. Who’s one of the most talented people you know? What are they talented at? As for people who are still in my life/I still consider to "know," I'm unsure, but only because there are so many talented people in my life. One of my older sisters is a fantastic cake decorator and artist in general, and my little sister is truly skilled with working with children; she's a kid magnet. Sara is really good at animation, and I wish she'd do it more! Do you usually pay with cash, debit card, or credit card? Cash. I don't have a credit or debit card. Are you the type of person who can make friends with just about anyone? Yeah, but I have my limits. I'm very open-minded and can befriend people with a wide range of beliefs and personalities, but I know where to draw the line. There comes a point where giving your friendship to someone is like passively supporting their ways, and I don't want to do that if those are overwhelmingly negative and/or hateful. Have you ever experienced a medical emergency? Well yeah, I overdosed on cold medicine. I was surprisingly okay, but I assume it's because I was taken to the hospital fast enough for fluids? Idk. What was the last thing you borrowed from someone? Ummm no clue. Are you muscular? Uh, no. When you go to a restaurant, do you prefer to sit at a booth or a table? Booth. What’s something you think everyone should do/experience at least once in their life? Love. Has your car ever been broken into? I don't have a car, but neither of my parents' has been. Have you ever recorded yourself doing a cover of a song? No. Do you watch television shows more in the dark or the day time? I just don't watch TV. Are there any movies out there that basically make you want to puke? None that I've seen, no. But I won't watch The Human Centipede for this exact reason, as I KNOW it would make me hurl. Any secrets you’d never tell anyone? No matter how close they are to you? Yes. Do you consider yourself a promiscuous person? Not even slightly. Do you know anyone who has AIDS? What about yourself? I don't know anyone with it, no, and I don't have it either. Has anyone ever mistaken you to be a member of the opposite sex? No. What’s your favorite hair color on the opposite sex that you love? I like colored hair, but if we're talking natural colors, then black. Have you ever had a child before? If so, what’s his/her name? Nope, never gonna have one. Which baby animal is your favorite? Meerkats for sure. I also love kittens. Do you like jam on your toast and biscuits? Yeah. Are there any plants in your home? No. What food does honey go best with? *shrug* Have you ever carved a pumpkin? Yeah. Have you ever reread a book? I read Because of Winn-Dixie twice, and I've read Meerkat Manor: Flower of the Kalahari countless times, although after the first read, I skipped over Clutton-Brock's massive tangents that had nothing to do with meerkats. They really took away from the book, imo. Would you ever like to own a chandelier? Sure, like above the dinner table. It's not a big deal for me, though. What scent is the last body wash you used? Oh my god, it's this cinnamon bun scent that I got for I think my b-day, and I LOVE it. It's going to suck when it's gone. Do you have any religious symbols in your home? Probably somewhere, I just don't pay attention. What religion do you identify with, if any? None. Do you enjoy flavored coffee? If so, which flavor is your favorite? I don't like coffee at all. Do you know someone who has asthma? Yeah, my mom. What is the most controversial thing you’ve done? Come out as bi, I guess. Other than interviews, do you ever “dress to impress?" No. Are you currently listening to music? Yeah: "The Man Who Made a Monster" by Dance With the Dead. When was the last time you got really nervous? I should NOT be blanking on this, but I sure am. I don't think I've been REALLY nervous in a while, but certainly nervous like... always. What was the first thing you ate today? I had a bagel. Have you ever had one of those elementary-school boy/girlfriends? No; I didn't have my first boyfriend 'til the 7th grade. Name something random in your car: I don't have my own car. What do you want to tell someone who has died (and who is it, if anything)? I wish I could tell Steve Irwin thank you and that he truly did change the world. I think a lot about just how unspeakably proud he would be of his children and how madly in love he'd be with Bindi's newborn. That family is the definition of wholesome, and I desperately wish Steve was still around. Have you ever stolen from a friend or family member? Wow, no. Would/did you cheat on someone for revenge? Or if they wouldn’t find out? No, that's incredibly childish. If you got pregnant right now, would you keep the baby? The only way I could get pregnant right now was if I was, God fucking forbid, raped. I don't think I'd be able to keep it; it would scar me for life, but at the same time, even though I'm pro-choice, I don't know if I could go through with an abortion without feeling like shit and forever thinking "well you could've just given it up for adoption." I don't like thinking about this topic. Any history with eating disorders (or tendencies)? No, thankfully. I've had bulimic thoughts before, but I've never acted on them. Does your family have a secret? No. If single, would you knowingly be who someone cheats on someone else with? Nooope. Guilt would eat me alive. Have you ever contemplated physically hurting yourself or another? I have hurt myself, but never other people. Choose one living person you’d like to meet. I won't have lived a full life w/o meeting Mark at least once laksdj;flakwjer. Who is someone you know would take a bullet for you? My mom would without a millisecond's hesitation. I'm sure Dad would, too. The next time you are on an airplane, where will you be traveling to? Most likely Illinois to visit Sara again. Where is your dad from? Ohio. Aside from your own, whose house did you last set foot into? My older sister's. What is something that makes you very squeamish? Vomit is #1. Do you even use an alarm clock, or do you just use your phone? I use my phone. Have you ever moved to a different state? No. Lived in NC my whole life. Can you do long division in your head? I can't do math in my head period. Do you have a wide imagination? Oh yes. Would you mind living on a farm? I wouldn't want to. Farms take way too much maintenance. Do you enjoy watching horror films? Oh yeah. Have you ever been to Niagara Falls? No, but I'd love to. Who are you in love with? Nobody. When is the last time you took a picture? I took a picture of Venus like a week ago when I had her out of her terrarium and she was just coiled between my arm and the laptop, totally chillin' out. I was IN a picture just a couple days ago, because my eldest sister came over to visit with her husband. It was great. Do you wash your own car or make the car wash do it? I don't have a car. Are you a fan of parties? Not big ones, no. I'd enjoy chilling out with a few people I'm friends with/know, just chatting and hanging out. Next trip you’re going to take? I don't know. My sister Misty's wedding is coming up soon, but we doubt we'll be able to go because of 1.) Mom's car would never make the drive, and 2.) Covid, and Mom's immunocompromised. It sucks, but she's being understanding about it. Were you in honor roll in school? Yeah. If you could know one thing about the future, what would it be? If I'll ever be happy with my life. What’s your favorite lunch meat? Ham. Do you drink your soda from a straw? I don't like to, no, because I drink faster via a straw, and I like to drag my soda out throughout the day so I don't go through more than I should. Do you like hot sauce? Yesssssss. Do you like Ellen Degeneres? Sure, she seems like a great person. Who do you think is the cutest celebrity? UMMMMMM like have you ever seen Mark Fischbach laugh?????? Did you ever play softball? For quite a long time as a kid, yeah. Would you like to live to be 110 years old? No, that sounds like torture. I don't want to live to where I'm essentially a walking (if even) corpse. No energy, no strength... no thanks. Do you like getting your picture taken? NO. Ever seen a tornado? Thank fuck no. When you were little, did you do gymnastics? No. Do you know anyone who is pregnant? I know a number of people who are. Two are due very soon. Do you like being the X or the O when you play tic-tac-toe? I like being the X. Have you ever tried crowd surfing? No. Do you like the movie Bambi? If so, who is your favorite on there? I've actually somehow never seen it, though I would like to. Do you like onion rings? No. Are you more afraid of going to the doctor or dentist? I'm not really afraid of either, but I dislike going to the doctor more. Have you ever been to an animal shelter? Yeah. Have you ever bought yourself or someone else lingerie? No. Have you ever had a serious issue involving your eyes? Nothing more than needing glasses. When you were a teenager, did your parents set rules about dating? Not really, besides the obvious age gap stuff. I was allowed to follow my heart with who I was interested in, really. Have you ever lived with a person who you tried to avoid at all costs? There were times like this with Dad when my parents were still together and he was in a bad mood, especially if he was drinking. Have you ever committed a crime that directly harmed another person? No. What is your worst childhood memory? There was this very weird three day period where I could've sworn up and down I was constantly on the verge of puking. On the third night, Mom finally took me to the hospital, but they couldn't find anything wrong. Oddly enough, I felt better the next morning... The whole situation was fucking awful for someone who was and still is terrified of vomiting. Do you remember where you first drove to after getting your license? I don't have my license. What did you get into trouble for the most when you were a kid? Being on the computer too much. What is your favourite game show to watch? Family Feud with Steve Harvey. When’s the last time had to cover a coworker’s shift? Never. Is there a word you have an emotional connection to? "Petrichor." How about a sound? Any emotional connection to a sound? LOTS of songs. Where is your favourite place to get fries? Bojangle's. Their seasoning is *chef's kiss* Do you always have a stock of alcohol in your house? No. Have you ever fainted? Yes. Do you get out of bed on the left side or right side? Left. Do you fall asleep with your mouth open or closed? It embarrasses me for some reason, but usually open, because I have a hard time breathing through my nose when I lie down for some reason? I don't take allergy medicine though when I'm really supposed to, so that might explain it... Is there a book you keep telling yourself you’ll read but still haven’t? I have Margaret Atwood's The Testaments that I want to read, but Wings of Fire has taken precedent, so I really don't know if I'll get to it. It would also be nice to catch up with Erin Hunter's Warriors, but that I know I won't do. Did your family ever own a vacation home? No. Have you ever opened a wine bottle? Nope. Have you been inside of a police station? No. What would you never change about yourself? I mean, there's a number of things. I would never allow myself to lose my empathy and compassion for others, for one. I'll never grow a head too big for my body. Do you pretty much need a car to get around where you live? Yeah. Public transport isn't a big thing here, especially outside the cities, and living in the South, places are pretty spread out/not within reasonable walking distance. Have you been to Australia? No, and I'm honestly too scared to go, even though I think it would be extremely cool. All the venomous animals just frighten me, and I find huntsman spiders to be TERRIFYING, regardless of how harmless they are. Do you mind drinking room-temperature water? UGH, I absolutely do mind. I HAVE to drink cold water. If it's even slightly on the warm side, it makes me want to gag.

🎶Made for @lovesquarefluffweek Day 1 - Concert 🎶
Please, click on the picture to see it in full resolution, it looks awful when small and Kwamis are hardly seen.
🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵
It’s the first time I take part in event like this. When I noticed concert day, I knew I need to do this, since instrumental music is my the biggest passion. I love jazz and classical piano so much, even though piano is not my favourite instrument.
It's great to combine my love for Miraculous and instrumental/classical music. I'm not a musician, but I can do it by drawing a fanart which illustrates music scene with my favourite side of Love Square.
🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵
It’s one of my first attempts at drawing humans from years, I’ve never been good at it, Miraculous gives me lots of motivations to improve my terrible skills. I prefer drawing things like animals or various creatures (so also Kwamis), but humans are getting more and more enjoyable. So there’s lots of anatomy mistakes and so on, but it’s not too bad for now, I guess. Despite I made many improvements during drawing it, there’s still something wrong with Marinette’s face and I couldn’t fix it enough.
🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵
Some background for this fanart:
I imagine it’s a first private concert which Adrien is playing specially for Marinette, he even rents a concert hall (he’s rich and romantic enough to something as much extravagant) when it’s not used. It’s not just one piece or two, he’s playing about 1-hour long piano recital (look at playlist below) only for his girlfriend (and magical creatures). It’s post-reveal, so Kwamis also can enjoy it without being hidden. While Tikki is excited about it not less than Marinette, Plagg is more interested in his Sugarcube, since he’s used to listening to Adrien’s piano and sometimes he’s playing with him. But rather cheerful jazzy-like improvised pieces, because he doesn’t like classical as much, especially sad compositions (Feast gave me some thoughts like these). Adrien decides to give a concert in a melancholic theme (so slow, soft, beautiful etc. pieces are played) to make this date as much romantic as he can. Even though blond boy is usually closing his eyes while playing on piano (like many instrumentalists), he can’t stop staring at his sweet girlfriend with his signature soft look™.
🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵
One of my the biggest wishes is to see a scene when Adrien is playing on piano specially for Marinette, any good composition (I don’t like that one from Heart Hunter), preferably classical one. And I’d love to see an episode with a classical instrumentalist based akuma, rock and pop are not the only musical genres out there.
Classical music (and instrumental music in general) is highly unappreciated, so I'm happy when it’s represented in media, especially kid shows. This is what I love the most about classic cartoons, there’s lots of classical music. The Cat Concerto, Tom and Jerry episode which won an Academy Award, is one of the best examples of very creative use of classical piece for a slapstick comedy. Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 was even played by two pianist, by classical and jazz ones.
Classical music can be enjoyed by anyone who has some passion to music at least. It’s a very eclectic type of music where you can find everything. Classical is not only over 1-hour symphonies, there’s also compositions shorter than typical radio-friendly song. It’s not only serious music, classical can be also playful with very catchy melodies. Everyone can find something for themselves.
🎹🎹🎹🎹 Playlist 🎹🎹🎹🎹
I'm also enjoying choosing played pieces so much and it's too hard, since there's tons of beautiful piano music, though I know only a very small part of classical world. It’s about one-hour long concert, so also recordings were chosen to last about 1 hour together.
As sonata is a musical form with several movements (usually three or four) and since not all of them fit melancholic theme of this concert, Adrien play only one or two selected movements. For example only the first movement of extremely popular Beethoven's Moonlight sonata - Adagio sostenuto - is that dark and sad piece which everyone knows. The shortest second movement Allegretto is still not fast but quite cheerful, while the last Presto agitato is... Check it yourself, it's one of my favourites music moments ever. 😊
I also decided to try selecting lesser-known compositions (but it doesn't mean they are all little-known) to promote them, so there's a chance than maybe someone gives this music a shot and discover something new to appreciate.
Fryderyk Chopin - Nocturne in B flat minor, Op. 9 No. 1 - I couldn't choose anything else for the beginning. Nocturnes are my favourites Chopin's compositions and this one I love the most. No word describe how much I adore it, it's the most beautiful piece ever composed.
Franz Schubert  - Minuet in A Major, D. 334  - The first time I heard it, I thought about Adrien. I think this short sweet piece describes his childlike innocence quite well.
Fryderyk Chopin - Prelude Op.28 No.15 in D Flat Major, "Raindrop" - This thing is shown on the screen of Adrien's smartphone in few episodes (like Captain Hardrock), but for some reason it's not what's actually played. I have no idea if it was supposed to be played, but was changed after rendering was done or it's just an error. It's so nice composition, though not my favourite Chopin's prelude, even if it's the longest one. Unfortunately, the piece which is actually heard in the show is unknown for me, I'd love to discover it, but I can't. All I know it's definitely not any other Chopin's prelude.
Ludwig van Beethoven - Piano Sonata No. 31 in A-flat major, Op. 110 - I. Moderato cantabile molto espressivo and III. Adagio ma non troppo – Allegro ma non troppo - It’s almost the whole sonata, the only missing thing is the shortest second movement. It's probably my favourite piano sonata, so I couldn't not choosing it.
Franz Liszt -  Consolation No. 3 in D-Flat Major, S. 172 - If once I wonder why I love this, this is because it's so Chopin-esque.
Franz Schubert - Piano Sonata No.16 in A minor D.845 -  I. Moderato - I discovered this wonderful composition thanks to Nodame Cantabile, my favourite anime and manga ever, which is focused on classical music college students and professional classical musicians. Two main characters are also opposites who learn much from each other. I gave a link to the performance made specially for Nodame Cantabile, because I'm mostly attached to it. Usually this piece is played faster and it kills the atmosphere in my opinion. This rendition is the most emotional I've ever heard.
How would be this list without any French composers? I believe Ravel and Debussy are a mustm since they are the most known and important, I believe, and I also added something from Satie, because he wrote lots of soft compositions for piano solo. Chopin was also half-French (from his father), but: "Chopin's biographer Adam Zamoyski writes that he never considered himself to be French, despite his father's French origins, and always saw himself as a Pole." (source: Wikipedia) Besides Chopin's music is very Polish.
Maurice Ravel -  Jeux d'eau
Claude Debussy -  Rêverie
Erik Satie -  Gnossiennes: No. 1 - Lent
Maurice Ravel  - Ma mère l'Oye, M. 60: I. Pavane de la Belle au bois dormant  - finish it with something very short but so beautiful.
🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵
Many beautiful things are missing, probably the most fitting for this concert would be Liszt's Liebestraum No. 3, since it's love music essentially, but it's too well-known (one of the most popular if not the most popular compostion by Liszt) and I'm kind of tired of this. I'm also very sad because of Chopin's Prelude in E Minor, but two pieces of the same composers are enough and this is his the most known prelude, too. I couldn't not recommend this jazz trio cover, because it's too good, too atmospheric though a different take on this theme.
Jazz musicians are often turning compositions into something much different. Everyone knows Beethoven's Für Elise, one of the best- known and (in my opinion) boring classical pieces in existence, but this jazz trio cover (sorry, I can’t find it outside of Spotify and other streaming services, it’s a very niche band) is just outstanding, I can't stop listening to it! Jazz arrangements of classical music is something I love so much.

Actually, as long as I’m talking about games, time for a ramble
The project that sent me into ventposting territory yesterday is another voltron game that I’ve been beating my head against for like a month? Basically, an urban fantasy au with a switching pov that uncovers a couple of mysteries, with different plots you can explore based on your choices. Allura lives, Lotor gets a redemption arc, the team actually comes off as friends that support each other. Maybe it doesn’t have QUITE the appeal that a canonverse story would, but it’s adopted from a fic that I tried to write a bit before the desert keith game swooped in and monopolized my time/energy.
But an entire month in I’m realizing... the program I used on Desert Keith is REALLY ill-suited for the game I’m trying to make. IF is good for mysteries, but NOT dialogue and large groups of people. There was definitely an ooc reason Keith didn’t talk to anyone besides wildlife. In the program I was using before, the player gets to type in anything they want, and then I had to wrangle 20 variations of "Ask Keith _" "Ask Keith about _" "Keith, _?" or just "__?" into a way the program would understand, knowing that SOMEONE is going to come up with a weird way to say it and confuse the program despite my best attempts
And then, because they can ask anything, that means I need a response for anything. So there's a dozen lines of:
If they ask about wolves/wolf/werewolf/werewolves/pack/transformation/full moon/new moon/moon cycle/moon, say "Idk man, I'm definitely not a werewolf so I can't tell you"
If they ask about your tragic backstory/past/history/family/story/childhood/mom/dad/mother/father/parent/parents, say "I have amnesia, fuck off"
If they ask about music/song/songs/favorite song/bop/banger, say "How is this relevant, why do yall care to know. Leave me in peace"
It's so many variables and so many options and SOMEONE is going to be a smartass anyway and talk to a character about 2014 meme culture or something that OFC I didn't think of
After typing that out, I realize I have a lot of aggression against the entire concept.
So! As much as I actually liked writing IF games for literally anything else, it’s terrible for a story where warm, pre-scripted conversations give people the warm fuzzies. Plus, because it dumps all the text it has every turn, allowing a conversation to unfold isn’t an option, because people’s eyes will glaze over if they see 20 paragraphs of conversation they have to scroll back up through. Plus, with diverging storylines, I’d need to juggle a lot of variables, so a character doesn’t mention an event that didn’t happen bc of the player’s choices.
Allura: So how about that death we witnessed, huh? You know, when Ulaz died to save us? Shiro: what??? Ulaz, standing right next to them: what?!?!
Anyway, a new kind of game, that’s better suited to a dialog heavy story with a big cast and diverging plotlines? Plus, a little more familiar to our generation?
Tumblr media
Visual novel seems like the ticket, and I’ve figured out how to embed it in a webpage already, so no download needed on this one either. The language isn’t something I’m really familiar with, but I didn’t know how to write IF when I started desert Keith either, so I think I could pick it up really quickly.
Three downsides tho:
1) Less chance for me to write out atmosphere. What’s even the point of me writing if I can’t spend 3 paragraphs talking about how the weather makes people feel? (actually, this may be a pro)
2) Lots of images will make it a much heavier burden on people’s internet speed and available memory, and limit how much they can use it on mobile. I was able to have several different tabs of the keith game open on mobile without slowing down my very cheap and very old phone. Even someone on desktop may have to wait for a VN to load.
3)I can’t fucking draw
Like, at all.
So that leaves me with either
A) Learning to draw??? yeah, I’ll get right on that
B) Photoshop, screenshots and stock images. It’s a passible idea, although I’ll have difficulty finding shots I need? Plus, means I probably have to cut the alien characters out? Lotor and Allura could be shopped to look human, but Kolivan and Sendak not as much
C) Going on character creation websites and getting as close as I can? Easy to humanize the aliens, hard to get any sort of personality into the characters. Plus, forces everyone into the same kind of skinny anime twink body type? Valid for like Keith and Lance, not so much for Hunk or Shiro
D) Having an actual artist draw everything. I’ve had two very talented girls who volunteered, but I do feel bad asking for a huge commitment from very busy artists who I definitely can’t pay for their time and skill.
ANYWAY
The other game in the works is a small and simple (we’ll see if that lasts) game about Shiro as a companion piece to the Keith one

Seeking Literate and Dedicated Partners!
Hello, you can call me Doe! I'm in my 20s, a student, and a proud cat mom. I write multiple paragraphs/novella style (200-500+ words). I love to write detailed descriptions and delve into a character’s head/emotions as well as surroundings. I compare it to writing a novel together. I understand if the scene doesn’t have alot going on and therefore requires less like rapid fire. I adore having long, thoughtful replies where we truly immerse ourselves in the world. I'm hoping to find a partner whose as enthusiastic and passionate about the plot and writing as I am. When I get invested in a story, it’s 100% dedication. Getting a reply is the highlight of my day. I'm a big fan of romance and using face claims. I’m the type to make pinterest boards, spam you with gifs, headcanons, and send you songs that remind me of our characters and/or ship. I'll get excited if we come up with a great plot idea or if our characters are being cute or going to get into trouble. I live for this kind of stuff honestly. Last but not least I only do MxF and don’t double, but I’m more than happy to write side characters of either gender to help move the story along. I'd prefer female authors writing male characters but male writers are fine too. Desperately Searching For - 21+ partners - For you to have an excellent grasp of grammar, punctuation, spelling, and capitalization. Both in character and out of character. (Literate to advanced writers only, please. I'm not looking for newbies). - Plot before smut. While mature themes will be in my plots, and are even encouraged, there needs to be a good chemistry between our characters. I like to have a good mix of plot and tastefully written smut, along with doses of angst and fluff. - For you to write as an older male (Late 30s-40+). I'm a sucker for the gruff and tough men who secretly have a soft heart. I also love those grumpy, hypermasculine men being intimidated by darling, soft yet commanding, and pretty women. - The more description, the better! I'm looking for someone can write as much as me (2 to 4 paragraphs or more) and really bring the story to life. I lose interest if I'm the only one that's invested/enthusiastic or coming up with plot ideas. Quality writing makes my heart happy, as does world building together. - The use of real life face claims and joining me in the wonderful world of ship/character development isn't a requirement but I'd sure be delighted if we were on the same page in this regard. (I won't use anime faces, only art if you're uncomfortable with real life) - Someone who won't leave without warning or explanation after sending the first post. I'm looking for the long term here, and I have been greatly saddened by how many partners have left me high and dry recently. If you've made it this far, thank you! You won't be disappointed in writing with me. I tend to be online daily and I'd like it if you were too. Please let me know if you're going to be inactive, long days/weeks of silence make me nervous. Below are genres and pairings I love. Feel free to combine two or more and I’m sure we can come up with something great! Genres: - anything mafia related - crimes in remote locations - small towns and supernatural happenings - post apocalyptic/dystopia - supernatural/modern fantasy (werewolves, shapeshifters, a/b/o dynamic and everything that comes with it, monster x hunter) - southern/mid western/gothic - murder mystery (small town or big city) - western inspired - modern/dark fairy tale retellings - sci-fi/cyberpunk - little coastal towns or little towns in the mountains - emotionally charged/dark and gritty - superpowers/gifted - unresolved sexual tension/slow burn - mythology (modern / hades x persephone) - redemption - action - fake dating - pacific northwest - suburban gothic Pairings: - age gaps (older man x younger woman) - enemies to lovers - cop x criminal - doctor x patient - friends turned lovers/pining - grumpy x sunshine - the broken man x the woman that becomes his light - fbi agents/cop partners - dark hearted man melting for the innocent woman - reunited old lovers and/or friends - boss x employee - neighbors - firefighter/cop x victim - mentor x mentee - spies - hurt/comfort - height differences - pet names - lady and the tramp esque - creature x human (I'm always up for NSFW things while in their beast form.) - ex-con x anyone - detective x witness - detective x suspect - person in witness protection x anyone - bodyguard x assignment - widow/er falling in love again Tropes: the papa wolf (craving), badass baritone, cultured badass, jerk with a heart of gold. ladykiller in love, mountain man, mysterious protector, southern gentleman, tall, dark, and handsome, gentleman criminal Plot Ideas: (these are just suggestions and if you have other ideas I'd like to hear them) 1. age gap + height difference + modern supernatural + werewolf x human + dark hearted man melting for the innocent woman A mentor x mentee pairing where the mentee has been a victim of some sorts and that's why they’re taken under the wing of the mentor. I'm picturing a guy capable of towering over most men and also knocking most men out, but with a soft spot (that takes a bit to uncover) for his mentee. He's a retired hitman, but such profession is nothing you can retire from. He's living out in a small town, keeping to himself and being the local town grump. Something happens to her, something horrible that makes her want to do something even though she is normally the sunshine in everyone's life, and through contacts she is given the address to a man who can teach her. (more to the plot available upon request) 2. age gap + spy x spy + modern supernatural + werewolf x coyote shapeshifter He has already been secretly hired by the US government to investigate this mysterious, new criminal organization. It would be at her first mission and already aware she will be working alongside a more experienced, freelancer agent. We could start with them meeting at the airport and we can go from there. 3. Muse A is a infamous criminal and Muse B is a FBI agent. Muse B has been helping Muse A take out their competition. They could kill each other but would die for each other. (Based on The Blacklist) 4. werelion x human + age gap + unresolved sexual tension Due to the species going extinct thanks to a rare virus that attacks pregnant women, this small werelion community is going out to find new blood. Including drawing in an American tourist who just arrived in Africa and has no idea how big her destiny is. I have more ideas, but this is just the general pitch. Fandoms: (Will only do oc x oc/characters inspired by canon pairings) Star Wars, X Files, Haven, The Blacklist, Fringe, Zoo, Stranger Things, Heroes, The Wolf Among Us, The Walking Dead, Mercy Thompson Series, True Blood, Stephen King's Universes, Red Dead Redemption, Marvel (Last but not least, I have a list of kinks if anyone's interested) I use email and discord to write. Contact me at [email protected] or Doe#4017. If you add me using the latter, let me know where you came from. Please be detailed when you message me, let me know why you chose to contact me. Seeing "hey do you wanna rp?" is a guaranteed way to turn me off. Look forward to hearing from you!

You mentioned fucked up weird AUs in your one post? I'm interested. Tell me about your favourite one(s)!!
AAAaaaah thank you so much!!
Uhhhhhhh heck most of them involve N turning into some horrible Thing because he’s the Estranged Outsider with a Connection to the Bad Guys Even If It’s Not Willingly (yknow like how Eren from snk is a titan shifter or Rin from blue exorcist is part demon) and all of them involve vuvuzelashipping (Nxall the Nuvema lot) I don’t really have a single favourite but I’ll summarize the ones I like most (also note that some of them are good dad Ghetsis/Dadsis aus because u gotta balance out the angst somehow plus dadsis aus are Cool)
Under the cut because I literally can’t summarise for shit and I’m sure no one wants to scroll past 3 pages worth of this (mobile users I apologise since the app is SHIT and refuses to even acknowledge these)
Also here’s a bit of an index so u can skip to ones that sound interesting instead of going through them all but first u should ask nationalharmonica about her aus bc I love all of hers and they’re awesome and need more love and she also helped with alot of these aus too!! ESPECIALLY the Dragonflower au which I won’t include here because I think she has it on her blog somewhere already.  If ur wondering why I haven’t posted any of these it’s because a) i have neither the skill, time or patience to draw up proper references for all of the characters involved and b) I’m always worried theyll seem too Out There for some people but here we go au masterpost i guess, if anyone reading would like more info feel free to ask!!!
Bacterial Contamination inspired au aka bacterial pestileNce
BotW au
Ib au
PMMM au (the longest one)
Plasma/Aether swapover, N wins+UB monochromeshipping au
Simple fNaf dadsis au
sister locatioN dicksis au (yes I have two for that because I only found out about the secret springtrap cutscene at the end of SL that changes everything the other day)
Nombie (dadsis) au
isolatioN au- Au based on the song Bacterial Contamination.  N goes to the snobbiest most pretentious school you can imagine only because his ex mafia boss dad wants the best for him.  N hides the fact he’s being relentlessly bullied until a teacher phones Ghetsis up asking why N is in such a state whenever he comes into school (BC bruises and cuts and looking roughed up in general).  N goes to therapy and gets meds but surprise they’re an experimental drug and he’s a bug boy now
- BotW au where Touya is Link, Cheren as Revali, Bianca is Mipha and Touko is Zelda.  Ghetsis (who is kinda like Demise if he hung around to make sure his curse worked) is the king of a neighboring region who’s a bit of a warmongering asshole but his son N is friends with princess Touko and her…ahem, associates, which is the only reason Touko’s dad stays civil with him at all.  He uses this to his advantage and infects N with the Malice and reveals his plan to take over Unova, knowing fine well that N would run away to Touko for help.  The truth is he’d set up N to be a ticking time bomb and eventually he becomes the Calamity.  After the whole ~100 year coma and releasing the divine beasts~ thing Touya only remembers who N is after killing him but dw there’s a blood moon just as Touko is sealing the Malice away and N’s freed spirit is brought back to become a friendly giant fluffy spider boy just because I said so
- Ib au with N as Mary (obv Ghetsis is Guertena) except instead of going crazy and trying to kill everyone and being burned up and dying himself the toutous make him sit in the frame while they drag it out of the portal to the real world: problem solved.  I have all this stuff about the others being able to step into his frame but he can’t leave unless someone else draws him so he can possess the drawing but I won’t go into it here BC this post is gonna be long enough already
-Okay I have two madoka aus because possibilities for N are Ndless but I’ve only really developed the dicksis version whereas I only have a witch design for a possible dadsis version so here’s the dicksis one.  The first: Ghetsis is kinda like Walpurgisnacht and N was originally a familiar that represented Ghetsis’ interest being only in things that directly oppose him who was becoming powerful enough to become a witch of his own.  Not wanting him to have even a fraction of power himself Ghetsis transformed him into a human shape, gave him sentience and intelligence and as close to a pure heart as possible so he would be easier to manipulate and led him to believe that magical girls/boys hunt down innocent witches for fun and have witches trapped in their soul gems and tasks N with stealing people’s soul gems to ‘free the witch inside’.  The problem is that the alteration gave N the mindset of ‘innocents who aren’t involved must be protected at all costs’ rather than Ghetsis’ mindset of ‘don’t give a fuck about anyone unless they’re a problem’.  N is also sent to integrate into human society so that he can find magical peepos easier so he ends up coincidentally going to school with the Nuvema kiddos.  He ends up becoming friends with them until he finds out Cheren and Bianca are magicas (I’m just gonna call them that for simplicity) but even though the toutous arent magicas they still support them which is all very upsetting and conflicting for N but he tries his best to protect the witches and steal more soul gems until the others eventually call him out on it and prove to him that the shit Ghetsis told him is bull.  When he goes to confront him about it it’s too late, Ghetsis has absorbed enough witches to become a Walpurgisnacht-like entity, and finally allows N to become a witch.  I’ll link the drawings I’ve done of him but basically his labyrinth would be like a puppet theater and even tho hes the witch he’d have this fuckin giant messed up ghetsis-lookin puppet master familiar who pulls at his strings and coordinates his attacks.  There’d be an audience of masked figures that look like all the magicas he’s caused the deaths of, tiny animals with scissors to represent his wish for freedom and also his fear of his ‘father’ since they never actually get to cut the strings holding him up, and figures that look a heck of a lot like the nuvema kiddos watching in a balcony.  This is all tied into a theory I came up with that almost all the witches are able to be saved since yknow how Homura had that figure of Madoka locked away and Madoka was able to bring her back, and how Sayaka had the violin guy and Charlotte had that doll that probably represents her dead mother? My guess is that if the people those figures represent are brought to the witch and reach out to them the magical girl inside would be able to be freed.  But yeah since N was never really a human the Nuvema kiddos can only really save a fraction of his conscious and he ends up like Bebe.  They all beat the shit out of Ghetsis and everyone lives happily ever after with their pocket witch bf
- the au where 1) plasma and aether are sort of swapped around and 2) N beats the toutous in the final battle.  This is actually based on nationalharmonica’s courtesaN au which is awesome BTW (but it doesn’t involve actual courtesans or N being a courtesan at all but its Sarah’s au so if you’re interested you should totally ask her about it).  Ghetsis keeps Touko and Touya prisoner and just to rub it in their faces blackmails Cheren and Bianca into joining and doing sciency experiment shit which ends up with Touko and Touya becoming UB fusions/hybrids themselves; Touya with Kartana and Touko with Celesteela.  Ofc in the later stages they are able to destroy their place of confinement and escape with Cheren and Bianca to find N who becomes understandably fucked off and upset that his friends have been put through all this shit but begs them not  to kill Ghetsis so he can ask what’s going on.  When he does Ghetsis stabs him with a syringe full of UB fusion shit because he knows fine well hes gonna die he just wanted a final ‘fuck you’ before he is killed by both fire and paper cuts.  Surprise! It’s a Guzzlord.  N becomes a big squishy boy. I’ve done drawings of N in human Guzzlord fusion/hybrid form but I’ve been afraid of posting it but uh if anyones interested i will
- Simplified fNaf dadsis au - basically N and the Nuvema kiddos are the ones that were killed and stuffed in the animatronics, Ghetsis owns the place but risks going bankrupt pouring money into helping find the culprit and also his son and his friends when they’ve been stuck in the one restaurant he kept open to stay afloat.  Nate is the new nightguard and they decide to fuck with him to get rid of some of the boredom of being alone together in the one building for like…30 years or so.  In the end they fess up and make Nate pizza as an apology and they’re chill again
- sister locatioN dicksis au - I already summarised a thing i wrote of it in response to an anon but I’ll include here too.  Once again Ghetsis owns all the shit with the animatronics.  Anthea and Concordia get killed by one of them when they were young so years later Ghetsis sends N down to ‘free’ them (surprise he only wanted to get rid of N) but since their spirits have been fused into one hideous amalgamation of animatronics they’ve gone a bit loopy and want to leave.  The whole scooping room thing ensues and they accidentally turn their brother into a zombie
- Nombie au bc Z is a sideways N heheh I ahven’t thought up much of the background for it but it involves Plasma being a pharmaceutical company that is sort of accidentally being the cause of it.  N gets separated from his dad who ends up being the leader of a large group of people in a little town sort of thing they were able to reclaim but is Sad bc he thinks his son is dead which ends up being half true bc surprise N is half immune and ends up being a conscious zombie boy who wears a curtain as a cloak so he doesnt immediately frighten people bc he got his eye shot out by hillbilies, his face scratched up, his throat bitten out and his heart impaled on a pole (hes a freak without a human heart geddit) zombie apocalypse stuff happens
- isolatioN au - basically spawned from the thought of ’what if N was kept even more hidden away/locked up/never even left at all’.  Plasma is instead secretly in the Pokemon poaching/hunting/selling business but are disguised as…well you already know about Plasma.  The nuvema kiddos had varying levels of rough childhood and were desperate for money so they all joined up; the toutous as night guards and the dualrival s as researchers.  Hidden deep in the facility is a certain tree haired manchild who has been kept in a cage for pretty much his entire life.  Ghetsis does a mother gothel and makes out its to keep him safe and brings him Pokemon to ask about where they live and what other kinds of Pokemon live there so that Ghetsis can release them safely back into the wild go hunt for more Pokemon in the area if there’s anything good there
There’s a few more that I have but I won’t include them because im worried it’d be a waste of time if no one takes interest in any of these but uh thanks for asking and reading if you did!!!

Moana (pt. 1)
Moana (called Vaiana in many countries of Europe for copyright reasons) is Disney’s latest animated feature film. It garnered outstanding success as well as critical acclaim all over the world. This being more of a review than an actual piece of analysis, here are some thoughts on why its positive reception is so well-deserved. Because of the length of this piece, I'm posting this in two parts, this being the first.
part 2
WARNING: Contains heavy spoilers. If you have not seen the movie, chances are that this text will be difficult to understand.
It is difficult to pick one aspect of the film to begin this song of praise, but maybe the beginning is the best anyway. I do not often watch animated movies because many are noisy, packed with unnecessary giddiness to make them ‘fun’, but finally quite boring when it comes to the ever-the-same story. Moana is none of this, and because of the trailers as well as a personal interest in Polynesian culture, I was eager, but also a little reserved, to watch this movie. Would Disney treat Polynesian people, their world and beliefs, with the necessary respect? Would it be possible to translate so much into something as little as a ninety minutes film?
From what I can say, the first scenes of the film cleared that up with a big YES. Whether it’s the creative way of blending 2D and 3D animation, the telling of legends by Gramma Tala, or that the goddess who gave life to everything is at the heart of this tale, it all flows together beautifully. Better even, it turns out that just as we have been audience to Tala’s story, so have been the village kids of whom Moana is one. After a cute scene of comedy with the kids being frightened by their Gramma’s story, there is one of the most natural and heart-warming depictions of a toddler ever animated. By the time Moana has become friends with the ocean, there is no way of not having been moved to tears by this story already.
These very short moments at the beginning of the film illustrate the immense amount of work that went into its making. The creators of the movie not just did their standard research journey to several places in the Pacific, they also invited a full board of experts of Polynesian culture, most of them Polynesian, to watch over the story process and give critical feedback. This might not sound like much to some of you, but sadly, it is very rare for moviemakers depicting a culture they are not directly familiar with to go to such lengths. It should be standard, but it is absolutely not.
You could say that the story of a young protagonist finding their way by believing in themselves and becoming a hero is not exactly original. How many big-budget Hollywood movies of this type with a female Polynesian protagonist can you name though? With exact precision to culture, highly detailed characters, jokes that are really funny and appropriate for all ages, and without platitudes? With the heroine being the heroine not because she is a) a princess or b) turning out to be better than everyone for some oddish reason, but because she cares about her world and her people and does what she can for them? Who is shown as a realistic person? Exactly.
The realism of both the animation as well as the storytelling is probably what draws in the audience so quickly. The depiction of nature isn’t just incredibly beautiful, it is almost photorealistic. I have never seen water rendered so well before, nor natural light. Just as much work went into the characters. Maui, for example, is introduced as a trickster, an ambiguous character, who causes the mysterious darkness to be born from the goddess Te Fiti when he steals her life-giving heart. That in itself is a wonderful metaphor, the way Maui on one hand does everything to make his fellow humans happy, bringing great things to humanity, but more or less because he wants to be appreciated, not actually because of higher morals. Still, it is a very relatable way of acting, one that is easy to understand. On the other hand, he is more or less the villain of the story that way. He is never actually vilified though, nor fully excused for what he did. Like a living, breathing person, Maui has to stand up for what he did and acknowledge that he was responsible and at fault. That’s never taken off him. He does get the chance to make up for it though, and be a stubborn, full-of-himself, fun, resourceful, and surprising character with a whole lot of character facets – without taking the spotlight from Moana. Also, mini-Maui? Genius. The animation of 2D on 3D was apparently very difficult, but it is such a great way to bring the significance of tattoos into the storytelling.
Speaking of tattoos, let’s talk about Gramma Tala. She is one of Disney’s comedic characters, but a sharp one, one who chooses being the ‘village crazy’ as she calls herself because it gives her freedom to do what is right, and live life the way she wants. Nobody stops her at this, in fact, she seems to be greatly revered, and my, look at the artistry, the wisdom, and the knowledge of that woman! Much more than anyone else, it is Gramma Tala over and over who teaches Moana to go her own way, never to have herself pushed into a box, both by telling her so and giving her granddaughter the means, but also by living this way herself. Her stingray tattoo and the way she dances with these animals, only to turn into one herself, are fantastic elements that deeply enrich the story.
What I also very much appreciate about this story is how the village life is depicted, and how Moana is shown as part of it, not as a rebel. You see people who work with and for each other as a peaceful community living together, not just next to each other. In times like ours, where more and more young people leave their communities because of poverty and the apparent glitter of Western lifestyles in the big continental cities, where aggressiveness and elbow-thinking are so widely spread, it is important to remember that living closely with all your neighbours, caring for each other and what is best for everyone, creates quite a different kind of home and individual mindset. Gramma Tala educates all the children, not just her own core family, and when the kids are scared, they all run to Chief Tui as if he’s everyone’s papa. Because he is there fore everybody.
Moana understands this right at the beginning of the movie, as she is shown growing up. At first we see her trying to sail the ocean on her own and being disgruntled when she is kept from it. But as she gets older, she realises more and more that she is happy at home, living with her people, that she is one of them, and that she wants to be chief because that’s good for everyone. She works very hard, she understands every aspect of the village life perfectly, and people are openly proud of her achievements as her parents teach her to be their successor. There are moments when she glances wondrously at her grandmother, but they are much shorter than in the beginning. Still, they dance together by the ocean, and that is so beautiful.
Mind you, this is the beginning of the movie. Moana’s actual doubts whether she wants to be chief are already over by then. This is not Merida who openly opposes her people’s way of marrying her off. In fact, and I love this, Moana’s story comes completely without romantic love. No princes, no dashing adventurer to steal her heart – the only heart stolen is Te Fiti’s, and that wasn’t romantic at all. In fact, Moana even sets out to restore that heart, because its theft brought nothing but evil.
Not many Disney movies show a fully functional family, but Moana does, and it does so well. It is a family where Dad sometimes gets loud, but not because he doesn’t understand his daughter. He understands her too well. Actually he is not wrong in making sure Moana becomes a great new chief, and he is not wrong at all in worrying about her going sailing out on the ocean, as he is be worried about everyone. Moana understands that somehow, too. It is important to notice though that she does not actually rebel against her culture. Quite in contrast, she doesn’t even think of going away alone anymore after that first disastrous attempt. Instead, what truly sets her off is her grandmother’s explicit command on her deathbed to take the boat her ancestors built and find Maui: her grandmother, who has prepared her to see that alternative in her way of living all her life, just as her father has prepared her all her life to become the next chief. Moana feels pulled back and forth between those two ways, only to find out that they are not split, but in fact one path: her ancestors, whose tradition and way of living she is supposed to continue as chief, were sailors themselves. She was not wrong or odd at all, she was actually right! Her own culture approves of her ‘wayward’ wishes much more than she had ever known.
What I also very much appreciate is that Moana is not shown as a loud, I-can-do-everything teenager. She is allowed to be noisy, loud, she can be wise, clever, even cunning, and a mature young woman, but she also stomp her foot and insults the ocean in very funny ways when she doesn’t understand. On her journey, she has a nightmare of her parents encountering the darkness. Being afraid of Maui, she stands up against him either way. She is a young woman with a lot of inner strength, inner struggles, frustration, happiness, but also a lot of kindness. This might not always be so obvious, but it is shown as one of her first noticeable traits. Even as a little kid, Moana already protects the weak, shown as she helps a little turtle find the ocean. Later, she is shown with Pua, her adorable pig, and if it were not for her, the rooster Hei-hei would be soup already. The person who softly explains to the bird that the ocean is not to be feared, that is the same person who once defended a tiny turtle against birds almost as big as she. We will come back to this later.
Another big relief is that Moana being female is never given as a reason why she should not do something. Apparently there was a story arc once in which she had several brothers and prove that she could sail much better than them, but wasn’t allowed to set out on the journey for reasons of being a woman. Of course it is important to point out that such rules are rubbish, but you know what’s even more important, but so very rare? To tell stories where the question of male or female is never even asked. Where it is absolutely normal that Moana, as a woman, becomes chief and an explorer. This message is much stronger than any lecture could be, however well-intended. Maui does call Moana a princess when he wants to insult her, which is a bit much, but I guess they did want to make the message clear for people who needed it spelled out.
The gender aspect is very well depicted in this movie: you have well-drawn male characters, such as Chief Tui, Maui, even Tamatoa is fantastic, but also a great cast of female characters who are all directly linked: Gramma Tala has a lot of influence in raising her granddaughter, but Moana’s mother Sina as a quiet, gentle character is just as important, even if she has less screen time. When Moana is in despair over her grandmother dying and the terrifying quest bestowed on her, it is Sina who, without words, helps her pack food for the journey and sees her off, thus encouraging her daughter in her ways. It is then Moana’s quick mind and gentle heart that releases Te Fiti from her agony.
It should also be pointed out that Gramma Tala’s death is not a cheap story device to create an emotional reaction and cause the hero to become active. It is a good move to depict the death of an elderly relative realistically, but also to give the (younger) audience a way of coping with that that comes directly from Polynesian culture: the belief in ancestors.
Just as living in the community is important, so is the knowledge that your ancestors are still around, still guiding. For Moana Gramma Tala is the most important here, but also her ancestors from many hundred years ago, who show her that her people were once sailors. This gives her courage, in fact, it’s what I would call the heart of the story. But I will come back to that at the end of this.
DISCLAIMER: I’m not Polynesian, so if you are and you spot something in this essay that’s not okay, please don’t hesitate to call me out on it. I’d be very grateful!

A Deep Breath and Steady Hands - Chapter 4
Summary: When his family is killed by visitors to Whitestone and Julius is the only one to escape their clutches, he loses his faith and seeks justice on his own power. But fate seems to have a different idea, when he ends up in the path of a certain group of mercenaries and he finds something he’s been missing. Rating: Teen and up Words to date: 11109
[read from the beginning on AO3] {read from the beginning on tumblr}
So this took me a very long time for two reasons: 1) It kind of wouldn't end? It just kept going, and I just kept wanting to add things, and then it needed to close up somehow, so here we are with almost 4k words in one chapter xD 2) I've got two weeks left of school (including finals) and I'm seriously so exhausted. Physics sucks, and while my other classes are good, I'm also applying to graduate school this summer and working on getting a job and still practicing for performances coming up ^_^. That being said, thank you all for sticking with me and coming back for another chapter!
Re: school, there probably won't be a chapter next week b/c of school stresses and everything. I know where the story is going, but I need some time to get the words on paper and free time is not something I have over the next two weeks :/ I might write some smaller things here on my tumblr, and I'll post when I'm planning on updating again, when I start figuring out my life! ;)
Less than three, and I hope you enjoy this chapter - I liked exploring Julius' thoughts about everyone, and we'll get to see more of that in the coming chapters!
Chapter Summary: Julius meets the rest of the gang, and gets acquainted with some of the... stranger aspects of the SHITs."Lately, I've been, I've been losing sleep/Dreaming about the things that we could be/.../Old, but I'm not that old/Young, but I'm not that bold/And I don't think the world is sold/On just doing what we're told..." -"Counting Stars", OneRepublic
Chapter 4: Not Quite Sold
After several long hours of making their way through the forest south of Jorenn Village, Vax’s sister found them a clearing they could use to make camp. It was pitch black, and cloudy enough overhead that only a couple stars shone down on them – not nearly enough to provide light to see by – but Tiberius conjured several orbs of light that hung in midair, illuminating the surrounding area.
The rest of the group seemed to have a system, and Julius watched from the edge of the clearing as the goliath dug them a fire pit and the dragonborn cleared away small rocks and twigs with a repeated flick of his wrist. The rest of them were unpacking their bags, laying out their bedrolls in a comfortable enough silence that it was clear they had followed the routine many times before.
Julius hung back, not wanting to place his things where they wouldn’t be appreciated by the others. He noted that the twins laid their knapsacks next to each other, and that the gnomes seemed to be sticking together as well, and wondered how he fit in their strange little group.
Looking around the rest of the clearing, by the light of one of the orbs, Julius saw something in the woods to his right. A large form moved through the trees, not conspicuous, but not hidden either.
Julius approached the tree line slowly, trying to see what was watching them. It didn’t seem malevolent, but one couldn’t be too careful, especially when they were still close to the Umbra Hills.
He froze in place when he realized it was the form of a bear snuffling around the ground, seemingly unperturbed by so many humans close by. While Julius wasn’t sure why the bear hadn’t taken notice of them, he didn’t want to take the risk of it charging.
Cautiously edging closer, Julius noted that it wasn’t too large a bear, certainly not as large as some that roamed the Alabaster Sierras – perhaps if he ran at it, sword out, he might scare it away. Perhaps their goliath companion would be a better choice – certainly larger and hardier – but glancing over his shoulder, he saw that the goliath was starting their fire, strangely intent on striking the rock on flint.
Making a, probably stupid, decision, Julius started to draw his sword. Unfortunately, the bear seemed to hear, his head rising up, his large eyes gleaming as they caught the reflection of Tiberius’ magical lights.
Julius froze, his sword halfway out of its sheath, staring down a predator that he was suddenly very sure wouldn’t be scared away by him and his sword.
His idea had indeed, in retrospect, been quite stupid.
“Trinket, did you find something?” came a female voice from behind Julius, who nearly jumped out of his skin at the surprise.
Vax’s sister strode past Julius, and he felt a rising horror in his chest as the slight woman approached the bear, oblivious to the potential danger.
“I really don’t think you should-“ Julius managed to get out, his voice sounding like Percival’s before his growth spurt, before the bear burst through the tree line toward them and he backed away, drawing his sword the rest of the way and holding it before him.
He then watched in fascination as the bear, which held a brace of foxes in its jaws, dropped the animals at the half-elf’s feet and butted its head against her chest, not unlike an oversized dog.
“Oh, good boy!” she exclaimed, rubbing his head and scratching behind his ears.
Julius still stood there, his sword arm falling to the side, limp, as he watched their interaction. He had obviously vastly misjudged the situation.
Feeling dazed, Julius continued to watch as the half-elf planted kisses on the furry face of the creature, who had actually slumped to the ground, tongue out and eyes closed in what couldn’t be anything but pure bliss.
“I don’t get it either.”
Julius started for the second time in as many minutes, spinning to see the purple-clad gnome standing beside him, twirling a stray lock of hair around his finger. “I mean, it’s a bear, and she treats it like a kitten.”
“This is… normal?”
“Yep. That’s Vex, and that’s her bear, Trinket,” the gnome said with a roll of his eyes. It was apparent that the creature was not the gnome’s favorite member of their group.
“But isn’t her brother-“
“Vax’ildan and Vex’ahlia,” the gnome said, gesturing to each as he said their name, “Vax and Vex for short, practically identical twins. It’s not confusing at all, of course.”
“I… can imagine.”
“Just say one or the other – the right one will probably answer, and even if it’s the wrong one at least you tried,” the gnome said, shrugging.
Julius simply stared at him for a moment, confused, then realized that his sword was still hanging at his side.
He sheathed it as quietly as he could, glancing around to see if anyone had noticed, but everyone was still busy with their own tasks. Vex’ahlia, Vex, had picked up the limp bodies of the foxes and was bringing them over to the fire. The other gnome, Keyleth, and Vax came out of the woods on the other side of the clearing, mostly with more fuel and kindling for the fire, but also with various mushrooms and plants that would apparently be added to some sort of stew that Tiberius was already stirring, babbling to the others as he did so.
“I’m Scanlan, by the way,” the gnome beside him said, also watching the others. “Scanlan Shorthalt, Bard Extraordinaire, previous member of Dr. Dranzel’s infamous travelling troupe, and current leader of the SHITs.”
“That’s nice,” Julius said blithely, before realizing what Scanlan had said. “Hold on, leader- leader of the shits?”
“That’s us,” Vax confirmed from right behind Julius, making him jump for the third time that night. (He obviously needed to brush up on his awareness. This was getting ridiculous.) “The Super High Intensity Team. Don’t ask me why that’s the name we settled on, but that’s us.”
He gestured to the rest of their campsite, to the goliath, the other gnome, Vex, Keyleth, and Tiberius. A ragtag group of mercenaries named “the SHITs”.
Julius couldn’t help but think of how he would have reacted to them two years prior. Entitled Julius Gatremaine von Musel Klossowski de Rolo the First, heir to Whitestone, eldest of his family, would have scoffed at these vagabonds, wondering why they didn’t just find some place to settle down and make something of themselves. Now, Julius knew only too well the life of a peasant instead of a lord, and while mercenaries still weren’t his favored company, he better understood their place in the world. And they had rescued him from whatever awaited him at Stonefell’s (or the Briarwoods’) hands. That counted for something.
“It’s a good name!” Scanlan protested, crossing his arms over his chest. “And we came up with it together.”
“You and Pike and Keyleth came up with it while drunk and it stuck.”
“Same difference.”
“Oh, go help Tiberius with the cooking,” Vax scoffed. “He could always use an inspiring song to make a better stew.”
“But I’m getting to know our new companion, Julius,” Scanlan said, sweeping an arm toward Julius. “We’re becoming the best of friends!”
“I got the impression I was getting to know you, not the other way around,” Julius said wryly, pursing his lips.
“It’s a give-and-take deal here,” Scanlan said pointedly, shaking his head like Julius was an amusing child. “First I give, and then I receive.”
“Mmm,” Julius hummed, warily eyeing the man, not sure what he was planning on asking. Julius looked up to where Vax had been standing, hoping for some support, but the man had already disappeared into the shadows of the night without a trace.
“So, how are you liking this “life on the road” thing so far?” Scanlan asked.
“I’ve travelled on my own before now – it’s not too bad,” Julius said, grateful for the innocuous question.
“Ah, a young man who can hold his own, then. But even against a pet bear?”
Julius felt his cheeks flush slightly, but he was proud of his cool response. “I’m hardly a novice to hard living. I could have handled him.”
It was a half-truth – while he’d certainly spent his share of days sleeping under the stars and keeping himself safe from beasts, he’d spent most of his life in Whitestone. He’d then stayed for a couple years in a town near the outskirts of Kymal, practicing his skills with sword and magic, hoping to one day return to Whitestone and bring justice to the Briarwoods for their crimes.
“Ah yes, one ferocious bear is no problem for the likes of you,” Scanlan said sagely, nodding with an air of all seriousness. “But have you ever run for your life through the woods? Dodged away from the authorities and only getting away by the skin of your teeth?”
Julius felt his chest tighten and sucked in a deep breath. “You’d be surprised.”
“Really?” Scanlan asked, nodding almost as if he were proud. “Color me impressed. But what would a pretty boy like you be running from, with those rugged good looks?”
Julius lifted his hand to the beard that had grown around his mouth in the past fortnight, trying to let on to the frantic beating of his heart beneath his chest. He wasn’t sure if Scanlan was being rhetorical or if he desired an answer, but Julius felt his breath grow short as memories flooded him.
He heard the crunch of fresh snow beneath his boots, remembered Oliver teasing him, harmlessly, about being the “pretty boy” of the family (with the indignance and scorn that could only come from a younger brother).
He saw crimson splotches on the ground, heard the baying of wolfhounds from behind him.
He remembered a low snarl in his ear, his wrists held behind his back – Sylas Briarwood asking his wife if they could “keep the pretty one”.
Cassandra’s arm was linked with his own as she tried to match his longer strides. She stumbled, fell-
He heard Whitney’s voice in his head. Was it boys or girls who were meant to be pretty? Why couldn’t both be “pretty”? Julius hadn’t been able to answer.
Then he saw the river behind the castle, rushing thick and fast with melting snow, rising up to meet him as his heart shot up into his throat and dark smoke swirled through his lungs-
“Julius?”
Julius sucked in a deep breath, coming back to the present. He flinched as something touched his arm, and pulled away, trying to regulate his breathing.
There was a tense silence between them as Julius tried to stay silent and still, forcing away the prickling at the backs of his eyelids with frustration. He’d studied with Teilo for a year or so, been on his own for at least two, and here he was, close to breaking down in front of someone he’d known for less than a day.
He needed sleep, and for people to stop asking him questions.
The two of them stood for a moment, the chatter from the rest of the group carrying across the clearing, laughter punctuating their words.
He turned back to Scanlan, who looked mildly concerned.
“As I said,” Julius murmured, doing his best to let his shoulders relax while keeping his face impassive. “You’d be surprised.”
Scanlan’s expression changed quickly, nearly giving Julius whiplash as the raised eyebrow and slight frown morphed into a jovial smile.
“A man with secrets – excellent!” he proclaimed.
Julius stared at him for a moment, nonplussed. “Because you wish to discover them, or because it gives you a reason not to trust me?”
“On the contrary, my good Julius – none of our group is without a secret, as it is with most of the world. But a man with secrets is a man with layers. It means there’s more to you than meets the eye.”
Scanlan winked and tapped his temple with a finger. “You might discover some of them if you stick around a while.”
A whistle from near the fire caught his attention, then, and he perked up.
“But not right now!” Scanlan said, waving toward the goliath, who was holding up a bowl and grinning. “It’s time for food!”
And Scanlan disappeared in a shimmer of purple light, reappearing on the goliath’s shoulders and snatching the bowl away. The larger man roared briefly in jest, but Scanlan just danced around his shoulders, not spilling a drop of the stew, as he whistled a happy tune. The others laughed and Keyleth, a small smile pulling at her lips, filled another, much bigger, bowl for the goliath’s dinner.
“He likes showing off, he does.”
Julius was proud not to jump when the half-elf’s voice came from behind him again. Instead he turned slowly, locking eyes with the man, but Vax only smiled, flipping one of his daggers between his fingers.
Julius rolled his eyes. It was exactly something Oliver or Whitney would have done – sneaking up from behind while their quarry was otherwise occupied. Once upon a time he’d been used to checking his surroundings for eavesdropping younger siblings, but now…
He wondered how much Vax had heard – if he would ask about what Scanlan hadn’t – but Vax simply twirled the dagger around his finger one last time and slid it back into a place on his belt.
“You know, Grog can eat like a horse if he wants to. You should probably get some food while there’s still some left.”
Julius raised an eyebrow. “Grog?”
“The goliath.”
“Named after an alcoholic beverage?”
“Ale is one of his passions,” Vax said with a smirk and a shrug.
Julius glanced over to where the goliath sat, scooping up stew with his fingers and talking through large bites.
“Mmmhmm,” he hummed.
His stomach grumbled slightly, wanting sustenance after hours of tramping through a forest, but Julius still felt wary about approaching the circle. The rest of them were talking together, eating together, and though it was not in a large hall with a good table and silverware, it evoked a strange sense of nostalgia that Julius hadn’t expected.
“No one’s gonna question you tonight – we’re all dead tired,” Vax said knowingly, actually grabbing Julius’ arm and leading him toward the rest of the SHITs. “Get some food and get to bed – you look half-starved and dead tired.”
Julius stumbled forward as the shorter man pulled him along, then tugged his arm away from Vax under the pretense of smoothing his shirt, pretending as though the grip on his arm hadn’t brought back that heightened sense of worry and anxiety. Vax didn’t seem to notice, but it could have been because the half elf had already forged ahead and gotten a bowl of stew from his sister, sitting on the ground with her to eat it.
“Here you go, Julius!” Keyleth said as he came over, holding a bowl out to him, a smile on her face. “It’s not a lot, but we’ve got some bread to go with it, and the fox meat is quite good, a little tough, but…”
She then showed him just how good it was by using her fork to take out a piece and stick it in her mouth, humming as she did so.
Julius couldn’t help but grin at the sight of her nodding profusely as she chewed, still smiling around the bite.
Keyleth gestured to his bowl and raised an eyebrow as she swallowed, so Julius took his fork and speared one of the small pieces of the meat, bringing it to his own mouth.
It was certainly more than “a little” tough, but luckily Tiberius, or Grog – whoever had been cooking – hadn’t overcooked the meat, and it was perfectly edible. The mix of flavors was not one he was entirely familiar with, especially as his general fare since setting out on his own was rather bland, but it was certainly better than anything he’d had in a while; the rich, earthy scent of the mushrooms and the thickness of the potatoes added in brought a nice fullness to the dish.
He finished the bite and swallowed, giving a nod to Keyleth and turning to the others, who he realized had fallen silent, watching him.
“It’s very good, thank you,” he said, straightening up as he felt the accent of his childhood push through more than he had intended it to.
“You are most welcome,” Tiberius said, smiling and raising his own bowl in a sort-of toast. “And please, if you want more, simply ask.”
Julius nodded his thanks and, sitting beside Keyleth, continued eating as conversation slowly resumed.
The sound of metal sliding against metal came from his left and Julius turned to see the armored gnome approaching him, holding out the end of a loaf. So close for the first time, he noted that while he had thought her hair to be a solid dark brown or black color, it was actually interspersed with purple streaks. To have achieved such a bright color was an interesting feat, especially with the, apparently, darker color of her natural hair, and Julius had a strange, curious desire to ask her how she had done it.
“Here’s some bread,” she said, her voice lighter and gentler than he had expected, her smile wide. Julius thanked her, nodding as he took it, and kept his mouth shut. It wasn’t polite to pry, especially when they had only just met.
“I’m Pike, by the way,” she added, stretching out her hand again. “Pike Trickfoot.”
“Julius.”
He shook her hand, and noted the pendant she wore around her neck – a familiar enough sight back home, especially at the temple.
“Are you religious?” he asked, trying to keep his voice neutral. It wasn’t that he disdained those who worshipped the gods – if they took comfort in the supposed providence of deities, then good for them. But there was little doubt in Julius’ mind that while the gods might have smiled on the de Rolos and Whitestone at one point, they were no longer involved.
“Oh, yes!” Pike exclaimed, pulling the pendant fully out from behind her armor. “I’m a cleric of Sarenrae.”
With what was unmistakably a holy symbol now revealed, Julius noted the iconic wings stretching up from the back of the small figure, and the halo around the effigy of the goddess. Sarenrae had never held a presence or temple in Whitestone, but all the de Rolo children had studied the various deities of the land, and the Everlight had been included in those lessons.
“Well met,” Julius acknowledged. While a cleric seemed an odd choice of occupation for someone who was, at the very least, a part-time mercenary, he wondered if Pike was preaching Sarenrae’s light across Exandria, using “the SHITs” as a mechanism for her ministry. “Sarenrae is the goddess of redemption, yes?”
“Of healing and second chances, yeah,” Pike said, rubbing the holy symbol between her fingers. “She’s not very well known, but her following is growing. She gave me a second chance, and now I use most of what I’ve from her to keep these idiots from dying all the time.”
There was some varied protests from around the fire, including several “Come on, now”s and an “Oh, that’s not fair” from Keyleth, but everyone was grinning.
“You’re the best of us, Pike my darling,” Scanlan threw out with a wink and a blown kiss. “How could we ever match your splendor?”
“You couldn’t,” Pike said, rolling her eyes with a grin. “But if you all didn’t get injured so often, it would make my job ten times easier, and less stressful.”
“You’re so powerful though, Pike,” interjected Grog, the goliath. “That’s what makes you special – you can fight, but you can also do the magic thing and heal us up. I mean, Scanlan and Keyleth can heal us a bit, but I wouldn’t give you up for anything.”
“Thank you, Grog,” Pike said, a shy smile pulling at her lips as her cheeks flushed pink. “But it’s nothing, really.”
There was a slew of protests once again, and the conversation continued in that vein for a while as Julius returned to his stew and bread, content to simply watch the rest of them interact. The nostalgia was growing strong once again, though it was tainted with a deep-set pain that he couldn’t quite shake.
Soon enough, the group had fallen silent and a wordless, unanimous decision was made among them to turn in for the night as they handed their bowls over to Tiberius to be cleaned with magic.
Vax and Vex readied themselves for the first watch, taking up positions by the fire, and Julius was about to offer to take the second – it was the least he could do when they had saved him – but before he could, Pike had come up to his side, standing tall despite her shorter stature.
“We’ve got watches covered for tonight,” she said, patting his uninjured side. “I noticed you favoring your leg, though – is there anything I can do to help?”
Julius frowned and shifted his weight back and forth, testing the pressure put on the limb. There was a slight twinge of pain, but nothing serious – certainly nothing in need of magical healing.
“I’m fine for the time being,” he said, the corner of his lip quirking as he watched one of her eyebrows rise high on her forehead, obviously dubious of his assurance.
“Honestly,” Julius said with a chuckle, bending his knee and straightening it again. “I do believe it’s alright. It’s sore, but most of me is after our jaunt through the woods. I think tomorrow I’ll be feeling much better.”
Pike examined his face for a long moment. “If you say so,” she said, though she still wore that disbelieving expression that told him she’d be keeping an eye on him.
“If it’s anything more than a mild ache tomorrow I’ll let you take a look at it,” Julius said, which seemed to mollify the smaller woman.
She wished him a good night’s sleep and wandered back over to Grog, leaving Julius to lay out his bedroll. Tiberius extinguished the magical lights, revealing the presence of faint stars in the sky, and the rest of them fell silent after a few moments. Julius laid down in the place he had claimed on the edge of their bivouac and stared up at the stars for a long while, trying to find the pictures made from them that he’d learned oh so long ago. It was hard, especially as he had never been one for the study of the heavens, not like Ludwig, or even Cassandra, who had asked their mother when she would be able to stay up late and actually see all the constellations she’d only ever read about in books.
Julius remembered Johanna saying that she had to wait until she was thirteen.
The Briarwoods had come two months before her birthday.
Julius shuddered and turned on his bedroll to watch the flickering fire and the twins, who were having a hushed conversation. He had a strange urge to stay up, to keep an eye on the, frankly, questionable company he’d found for himself, but after only a couple minutes he felt his eyelids drooping and his breathing slowing.
Shifting his arm so a bump on the ground wasn’t digging into him, Julius readjusted his bag which was doubling as pillow. And, after only a minute or two more, he drifted off to the sound of wind in the trees, the distant hooting of an owl, and the faint crackling of the fire.

I have a bunch of those11 questions meme behind so I guess I’ll just mass post the answers here.Sorry I’m not actually putting in new questions but it took me 1 hour and a half just doing these and I kinda have to study
Tagged by @therandommeerkat
1) If someone wrote music about you, what genre do you think it would be in? Be as specific or as vague as you want. Not necessarily a style you favour, but one that would suit you (though these will probably align, but maybe not) Idk maybe I'd be some kind of folk song? I'm not even a big fan of folk but I feel like it would suit me somewhat
2) A place that, ideally, you'd be most at peace. Don't be afraid to be mundane A nice cozy room with a fire and me buried under a ton of blankets. The TV is on as almost background noise and I have a cat on my lap
3) Describe an artwork you'd like at your house. Maybe include a picture. And/or a story. Why that artwork? It doesn't have to be deep I'd like to have one of those Escher drawings that make your brain stop working like it's a room that expands forever but it also inside itself. I think they look really cool
4) If you could create your own social media site, what would it be about? Or your own webthing, more widely speaking Dunno. Maybe some sort of forum for people with common interests but I'm not sure what kind of mechanics I'd put in
5) A pet peeve, something that just gets on your nerves. The more pointless, the better I have this teacher who doesn't have any sort of accent at all, except for one word. The word “libro” (book). She says it like “libbro”. And doubling the b's is like a common accent in some areas of the South but she never does it on any other word than that. If she had an actual accent it wouldn't bother me but this is terrible. It's like if someone with a perfect English accent used y'all'd've
6) If you could spend a day somewhere in the past an no one would question your presence, where and when would you go, and what would you do? I could give a thought-out, serious answer to this but I'll just say I'd like to see a dinosaur
7) Describe a sensory feeling or memory of meaning to you I don't remember the name but there are these sort of cherries that are very bright red and they aren't sweet but kind of sour and my grandma used to have a tree of those and in spring me and sometimes a friend would try to take as many as possible of those while being too short to reach most of the branches and unable to climb up on the actual tree. Good times
8) Do you keep a diary? No. Never really seen the point
9) Do you have a collection of anything? If you had unlimited funds, would you start one? The only collection I have are the Pokemon cards I used to buy in elementary school and if I had unlimited funds I think that's what I'm most likely to start collecting again
10) If you could specializa in literally anything, like, on a college level, what would it be? ...but what about a degree in Pokemon
11) And last, and most morbid, how would you like to be remembered when you're gone? On a physical and an intellectual level There is a monumental tomb in an old cemetery. It is made of strange, black stone. Some being that could be an angel if angels were raffigured as they are in the Bible is on top of it, looking down on humanity with empty, eerie eyes, too many eyes. No one knows who let that thing be built. There is no picture of me, only my initials carved in a corner. No one is sure what my real name was. No one is sure who I was, or how I died. There are multiple legends going around, including that I was the spawn of an eldricht being that came from another reality and that the statue is in truth a representation of my real form, and that it comes to life every second Thursday of the month, to find those who blemish the existance of pizza with pineapple and turn all of their socks into sentient creatures

1) Post-apocalyptic universe, fantasy world, hyper technological future or anywhere and anytime you want in the past: which do you choose? Hyper technological future where we also developed magic and found aliens so it's some sort of futuristic fantasy instead
2) If you knew a ghost was haunting your home, what would you do? I would be terrified but also not enough to be bothered to do something about it
3) Whitches: do you think they are valid, do you not share their beliefs but still respect them, or are they just some delusional airheads? (answer sincerely. Don't worry, I'm bound not to harm anyone with my craft ;3 ) Oh well I don't really believe a lot in this kind of things but I see no reason to not respect other's beliefs
4) Let's talk about food: does it make you happy? Is it just a mean to survive? Do you have an unhealthy relationship with it? Food is fucking important to me ok
5) What's your plan for the zombie apocalypse? Do you even HAVE a plan?? ...I'll figure it out when the zombie apocalypse comes. I'm shit at sticking to plans anyway
6) Think any given race an any given class of any given rpg you have ever heard of. Which do you choose? You must stick with it forever! Well Pokemon is an rpg too so yeah I'm going to be a Pokemon trainer. You have awesome pets and travel around and get paid a fuckton of money for everything you do
7) You are given an unlimited amount of money and no restrictions to create your own tv series! What is it about? Do you both write and direct it? Do you call famous actors you like to starr in it or do you cast some promising aspiring actors the world had never heard of? I was hearing a while ago this idea of making a tv series of the Silmarillion and yo. I would fund the fuck out of this. First season is all about the Valar and Melkor arguing and repeatedly fucking shit up and then we have like a lot of other seasons for the real thing. Because let's face it if we gonna do this we have to make things a lot less fast paced than that book because it would be a mess. Well I'm fine both with new and famous actors. I mean for Galadriel I'd still probably want Cate Blanchett because I can only see her that way now but maybe also another actor for when she's younger
8) What's comforting to you? Knowing this Friday and Sunday school's gonna be closed. Very comforting
9) Do you fear climatic change and natural disasters? Yes
10) I want you to feel good about yourself: tell me something you like about yourself. It could be a personality trait, a physical feature, a specific talent you have, something you did you are proud of... Aw thank you. Well the other day I was at my aunt's and she has this cat who is kinda shy around people and I managed to get close to it and pet it and I felt really accomplished
11) And now, tell me something about one of your passions! Anything! (I can't think of any other questions...) (kiddin', I care about you) I love writing. I really love it. It's beautiful how stories just come to life under your fingertips. I adore writing. I don't have about 50 word documents with maybe one sentence written absolutely not
Tagged by @thxstral
1) What TV/book/movie character do you think you're most similar to? What character to do you wish you were more like? Most similar to... I don't know. I'd like to be someone more like Clint Barton. Not the strongest person around and overall pretty chill but willing to lend my help when there's need for me
2) What was the first career you wanted as a kid? I'm not really sure... Maybe superhero or something
3) Would you rather have magic in an ordinary world, or be ordinary in a magical world? Ordinary in a magical world would also kinda imply I would still have some sort of magic so I'd go with the second one. On the other side, I could actually be a superhero if I went with the first one. Mmm
4) If you could live in the world of any music video for a day, what would it be and why? Do anime openings video count as music video for the song because I might just throw myself in a random YuGiOh opening
5) Who was your childhood enemy? (or frenemy) I wasn't cool enough to have an enemy tbh
6) If you could gain any skill with no effort on your part, what skill would you want and why? The skill of remembering things perfectly after having read them once. Why you ask? I'm a student that's why
7) Can you speak any languages besides your native language? Well my native language is Italian so. I mean. Yeah
8) What was the last book you read cover to cover? Ugh I haven't had time to read a lot of things recently.
