Hiii! This is the same anon who asked abt mb tips, I just wanted to say thank you you’re post was so helpful! I have another question, on mbs I see all these really cute like captions or bios and I’m just wondering how to do them and still make them match the style of the mb! enjoy your day🫶🏾🫶🏾
HIII!!!
me personally, i dont know about anybody else but i always have a song in mind when i made my moodboards.
if i dont, i look for a song (sometimes it takes a while) and i keep my ears open for a good lyric i really resonate with or just something that sounds good ^_^
oorrrrr i really speak from the heart and type something that has meaning to it! or you can use quotes from any type of media you like cause thats what i do sometimes!
you can also base your moodboard around the quote you want
i use a font generator causeee i dont really wanna download an app... but anything works just fine!
for symbols, you can use those websites that have a bunch. heres a really good one 🪻
i use the symbols i collected over time in my notes app but you can do anything that helps you
search for symbols that have the same energy/vibe or look as your moodboard if that makes sense
like if your moodboard looks very soft and has a delicate look dont add stuff that looks too bold
and also i sometimes use the gradient text to add a little pop to my moodboard!!!! i use any colors from my mb that i like and use it for my text! you can watch a tutorial on youtube for it but its fun!
idk if the bio explanation was a huge help, but i hope it guides you in the right direction at least a little bit!!
sincerely, atsu ꒰˃o˂ 🗯♡꒱

anonymous said: hey loves, idk if you do general rp help things, but i thought i'd ask anyway! i haven't been in the tumblr scene for years (i think 2014/2015 ish?), but i'm in the process of working on a group and was wondering if you had any tips on how i can keep it thriving for a long time once its open???
Tumblr media
Hey anon — if anyone knows the answer to this I’d love to know too! My friend runs the fabulous @syfyhq and it’s been difficult to keep members, that might be because RPGs based around “bad Sci-Fi movies” is a niche market but despite promoting it loads it’s still a struggle to get people interested and maintain that interest. Everyone has their preferences though so some RPG genres are definitely more active than others and doesn’t reflect on the often hardworking and great admins.
I have some tips though that as someone who joins groups!
1) Accessibility! This normally goes without saying but please make sure your main theme and navigation are all easy to read  — good contrast between text and background, big and clear font, and easy to read information!
2) Events and tasks! Set a designated day every week or month depending on what you prefer to post something to inspire your members, this can be anything from getting your members to make a moodboard or playlist for their muse(s) to announcing an event. This can be important to the plot or just something fun! Depending on your RPG a few that are really common are carnivals, masquerade balls, camping, and drive-in movies. Here are some event masterlists too — one (based on dark rpgs) two, three (masterlist of event and task masterlists)!
3) Keep the main active! Even if it’s posting promos. Although it’s everyone's responsibility in a roleplay group to keep things active (that’s right, the admins can’t force all you demons to be active!) it’s always nice when the main is updated and running. Make sure your inactivity checks and posts are consistent.
4) Encourage communication between members! I want to mention a few things here. To start with many roleplay groups have a separate place for people to talk out of character, sometimes this is done via a sideblog and other times it’s commonly Discord and I think that’s a really cool way to get everyone mingling and starting plots together. Another is to urge people to make starters and reply to other peoples starters, if a character is being left out make an extra effort to try and include them in to things. Memes! Memes are another great way to get people interacting so make sure to reblog a bunch of them.
5) Diversity! I don’t know about anybody else but if I look at an RPG and all their characters are white, cis and skinny it’s a big turn off for me. Something that makes me join RPGs too are the faceclaims and I urge your most wanted character suggestions and/or open biographies depending on your RPG to be diverse — please consider including disabled faceclaims, plus size faceclaims, non-cis faceclaims, age diverse faceclaims and faceclaims of colour! If you need suggestions there are loads of masterlists over at @tasksweekly, check out our ‘poc, body diversity, age diversity, gif pack, rp icons’ tags, we have a directory of people with resources here, trans faceclaim masterlist here, body diverse masterlist here, lgbtqia+ directory here, and a South Asian directory here!
Some more guides:

How to Decline an Application by maewine
How Do You Manage to Keep and Rp Running so Long? by mcthsman
That’s all I can really think of for now though so I hope this helps anon! If anyone has anything else to add to this please send me a message and I’ll update this post. If you do get around to opening your roleplay group you’re welcome to sling me the link and I’ll promote it, I only have two rules that are 1) no problematic faceclaims and 2) make it diverse!
Take care anon.

Do you have any tips or pieces of advice for someone who's looking to start up an rp blog for a character? I have plenty of experience roleplaying, but none of it is with tumblr.
//OH sure sure !!
lets get the technical stuff out first, make the account for your new blog in advance, before you prepare anything else because tumblr has this anti-bots security system in place which doesnt allow new blog’s posts to show up in the tags (and tags such as #indie rp, #anime rp, #insert show here rp are pretty important in getting ur blog out there). you’ll also have to follow some people, get followed back by at least one, reblog+like some posts before your stuff starts showing up in the tags
of course u can disregard the whole promotion thing and just follow people and wait for them to follow you back, but if u want new people to find you without you actively looking for them, its good to drop something in the rp tag. but again, you dont have to do any of this.
ALSO IM PUTTING THE REST UNDER READ MORE BC IT GOT LENGTHY:
so heres stuff you can prepare (or not, its totally up to you !!)
icons - a relict of dreamwidth era , not necessary but i find that they add some zest to the interactions so personally, im a fan. usually 100px x 100px u can make them fancy or not, your choice. just get some basic facial expressions (but again, you dont NEED them)
themes - some rpers pay a lot of attention to blog themes, i used to be like that but tbh rn i dont think anything beats a nice basic theme w/ a readable font. hit up theme hunter and snag a theme u like !!! OR DON’T, thats totally up to you !!!
also you can set your blog to dash only in the blog’s settings which means u dont have to bother w/ a theme !! its a popular thing in rpc nowadays !!!
oh and just a hint – id avoid using somebody’s art for icons or elements of theme… i mean sure u can credit them but hardly anybody looks at credits so idk id just avoid it altogether cuz the artists dont like that and theyre absolutely right. i used to use peoples art for icons and i had some artists reach out to me and ask that i dont do that and tbh now i cringe at my past-self for not seeing that its soo disrespectful of the artists
what to put on blog:
about page - its a page where rpers put some basic information about the character they write as. it can be super important if youre writing as an OC (not many people will follow an OC if they dont know anything about them tbh) !!! if youre writing a canon character u can just resort to filling out a basic dossier (like listing their name, age, whatever… YOU CAN USE THIS and fill out what u like). or you know, do whatever. on cell, i just wrote a piece of Something and linked his wikipedia page lol. do what you feel like, its just a thing in rp community.
rules page - slightly more important. this is where you set boundaries and introduce yourself ooc. after introductions ur expected to tell people what’s NOT ok by you, for example, you say that godmodding is not ok (godmodding is when people write in their own responses what ur character is doing), maybe shipping is not ok by you, maybe u dont want to write smut ever etc. you put all of that there and any additional info you feel the need to add (for example, asking people to tag certain triggers etc). try to browse other peoples rules pages to get the feel
verses page - some blogs have a lot of specific verses like idk, an AU in which ur character is evil etc. this is a page where u can put them and add descriptions, UP TO YOU. i find that its less important than about or rules page, focus on those 2 first, especially the rules page bc its what people usually check out first before writing with u!! add verses later !!!
how to start an rp blog:
OK so lets say you’re prepared and ready to write. i usually post a promo to announce my Arrival to the rp market. take a look at what’s in the indie rp tag for example, just to give you an idea what ppl post there. it used to be REQUIRED to post like… a graphic advertising ur blog but tbh these days u can just drop a text post (preferably with ur icon so that people know which character u write) and you say smth like ‘HELLO, a new (character here) RP blog here!!! like/reblog if youre interested in writing with me!!’ (ofc write whats natural to you, just introduce ur blog in whatever way u feel like it– OR DONT, YOU DONT HAVE TO DO THIS)
BEFORE POSTING A PROMO MAKE SURE YOUR POSTS SHOW UP IN TAGS FIRST. YOU MIGHT HAVE TO FOLLOW SOME PEOPLE FIRST (refer to this) – where to find those rp blogs?? refer to tags below.
what to tag your promo with: remember that only 5 first tags will show up in the search results. so pick some good tags, i think the most important tag is #(show/movie/books name) rp. heres my promo, u can check the tags i used there and come up with your own accordingly. and also browse these tags to find people to follow, like idk, lets say u wanna rp sb from naruto, then u hit up #naruto rp and just scroll and follow ! also avoid using swear words or nsfw words in ur promo bc tumblr will censor it lol
but remember YOU DONT HAVE TO POST A PROMO, THIS IS ENTIRELY UP TO YOU !!!!!
how to start WRITING on an rp blog:
ok so youve gathered some followers, now what. i usually just post a starter call! this is a post that people who want to write with you will like and you in turn will start a thread with them (doesnt have to be IMMEDIATELY, take ur time). you can also reblog rp memes which are like writing prompts people send to you (but i dont recommend starting ur rp blog w/ a memes barrage, people usually want to get to know your blog a little bit more before they send you a prompt).
you can also wait for other people to post starter calls and then you like them (but check their rules first !!! for example, most people have a rule about being mutuals only, which means they will write you something only if youre following each other back), which also works.
AND THATS HOW IT GOES !!! you are now writing on an rp blog. remember to take it easy and do what feels natural !!! browse some other rp blogs to get Inspired (but dont just lift things, stealing is a big no-no in the community). do what you feel comfortable with, if you dont want to make icons then dont! you’ll always find somebody who’ll write with you without icons (we just rly like them lol). be patient with others and yourself, read peoples rules, be nice, dont reblog an rp meme without sending a prompt to the person youre reblogging from (thats called reblog karma, if you dont wanna send a prompt then rb from the source), put yourself out there and UHH have fun !

An Effective and Modern Guide for Any Scientific Field The 2nd edition of Alley's "The Craft of Scientific Presentations" is an important modernization of his original work. I was keen on getting this edition because the 1st Edition was written in 2002. Alley wrote about transparencies and slide carousels then and while these technologies are not entirely obsolete, the ubiquity of projected slides has pushed them to the sidelines. In this edition, Alley deliberately focused on the projected slide, courtesy of Microsoft PowerPoint or your favorite slideware. Although Alley's discussion of the pros, cons and appropriate use of older technologies in the 1st edition was greatly appreciated, he completely omitted it in the 2nd. I find this a wasted opportunity as the short discussion could have still been substantial material for the Appendix. Despite today's technology, carousels and transparencies still have some advantages over LCD projectors. Go to Amazon
A must-have in any scientist's library! Absolutely a must-have for anybody delivering scientific or technical presentations, from undergraduates to full professors. I have been delivering scientific presentations for almost 15 years, and I was stunned on how many good advices you can find in this book. Some of them I was already following purely by experience and intuition, but here you can find the tips clearly formulated and scientifically justified. Each chapter is directly to the point with clear language and clear exmaples, much different from other books on presentations that are basically just empty words and nice pictures, but quite useless. If you have to choose just one book to improve your presentations, got this one without a doubt. Go to Amazon
Death to death by Powerpoint As you excitingly discuss your well researched topic to an audience with glazed looks in their eyes, this book can help you immensely. I used it as a guide to teach a Presentation Skills class for researchers, and the ideas were very warmly received, and importantly, implemented to great success by the participants. Go to Amazon
A very useful book for medical presentations This book is comprehensive, evidence-based oriented and very helpful for scientific presentations. The author goes into great depths about the concept of presenting and goes beyond the usual "font-type, color selection" tips in other books about presentations. I have followed the basic concepts of this book for my last 2 medical contents presentations and they have been extremely better than all my past presentations. This is definitely a must-have for people who frequently do presentations, Go to Amazon
A must for scientists and engineers! This book details a history of scientists and engineers that have made excellent presentations and why. The book then effectively contrasts those styles with poor presentation techniques. The author also presents readers with different methodologies for presenting to diverse audiences. Every suggestion is supported with historical instances of presenters that communicated their ideas effectively. The book proved not to be another "how to make cool PowerPoint slide book." The majority of the text is invested in the structure of the presentation. The book serves as a "how to" for undergraduates, post doctoral fellows and speech trainers alike. Go to Amazon
Read this to make your career a bit easier to manage Too oftentimes presentations that use Powerpoint are dull and the audience loses focus in following the speaker - the speaker in this case might as well be talking to a tree for the 30 minutes he or she is allotted to present their life's work. After reading this book, if you apply the concepts from this book in your presentations from then on, your technical presentations will become much more interesting to everyone and everywhere. Your audience will be able to grasp difficult technical concepts quite a bit faster because of this style of presenting. Even if you are not in a scientific major, it is worth a read since you, as a listener, in the future will encounter technical presentations in which your job depends on you disseminating that information - this book gives you the steps needed to be able to absorb the main concepts from the presenters. Go to Amazon
One of the best books about presenting scientific research One of the best books about presenting scientific research. As a student in chemical engineering, I find it hard to believe that so much information can be packed into such a book. I would definitely recommend to my peers. Go to Amazon
No bullet points, please! I love this method. Be prepared for a whole new way to use PowerPoint. It forces you to have your material down for this method to work, but hey, shouldn't you have it down anyway? Tried it out on some technical folks and they really stay engaged and asked a lot of questions. Go to Amazon
Three Stars I have found this book to be incredibly useful. I am a social scientist who works in ... It is an easy read and thought-provoking treatise worthwhile for anyone who regularly ... Five Stars Very clear and detailed on all aspects of a technical ... Five Stars Good read Ooh. Sadly, he mostly furnishes more examples of ... A breath of fresh air! Scientific presentations can and *must* be engaging, and this book shows you how!

Typing in your Target Language
I know most langblr’s have like miles of photos of neatly handwritten practice sheets and that seems to be what everybody strives for. And while yes, handwriting is important and has been shown to aid in learning, sometimes, you gotta type. Either cause you’re emailing a penpal, writing an essay for class, or you’re someone who learns better with the computer and typed text. So here’s a little typing positivity post with a few tips and resources about learning to type like a pro in your target language. Please note that regardless of how my writing may indicate a particular audience, this is really intended for just about everybody, it’s just really hard to write if I don’t narrow things down to a small imagined audience or people who use a QWERTY keyboard like me. This also focuses on using a computer such as a laptop or desktop which are slightly more complicated than typing in a new language on your smartphone, something which most of you are probably already doing.
The most important thing: If you really want to be typing in your target language the absolute most important thing is that you switch your keyboard to that language. Although there are many ways to achieve various accents without ever leaving the English keyboard (or whatever language you most use) as well as online keyboards, if you really want typed success you need the proper keyboard. Selecting a particular keyboard means you’re using a keyboard layout that has been specifically designed for that language. This will enable you to type faster and easier in that specific language, not to mention it’s been formatted for language specific punctuation as well. If you’re using a word processor go ahead and download the necessary dictionary and change the necessary settings for spell check (seriously spellcheck has saved my Spanish so many times I never know where the accents go but spellcheck has my back and my accents). Below I’ve included a few links for how to get your new keyboard set up if you’re not sure.
Changing Keyboard Layout Windows
Changing Keyboard Layout Mac
Keyboard Learning Curve: Let’s be real, learning to type was hard enough (anybody else have Mavis Beacon teaches typing? Because I’m haunted by that damn thing). And if you don’t know how to properly type I highly suggest you learn, it’s an incredibly useful skill in today’s digital world, though a bit of a pain to learn, you’ll be thankful you did (Mavis Beacon may haunt me but I’m still grateful for all she did, thanks to her I can almost type as fast as I think).
Learn How to Type
Now that you’ve got your keyboard and mad typing skills it’s time to learn your new keyboard. If it’s a latin based alphabet it should be familiar to what you already know, the only thing to learn is special characters and punctuation. If it’s an entirely different alphabet such as Cyrillic you may find yourself lost before you’ve even started. Many people find things such as keyboard stickers and keyboard covers with the characters on them incredibly helpful, I do to. However, if you can’t afford these kinds of things (or you’re just really possessive over your computer and don’t want to mess it up with stickers) there’s an easy trick you can do using a program that’s already on your computer. What you want is an on-screen virtual keyboard.
Virtual Keyboard Mac
On-Screen Keyboard Windows
This onscreen keyboard will change when you change your keyboard settings between languages. You can use this to reference your actual keyboard so you can visually see where all your keys are. If you’re practiced with a keyboard using this as reference while you type shouldn’t take long. If you’re unfamiliar it may take a bit longer to get used to things but soon enough the new letters will be ingrained in your muscle memory. For example, I’m gonna type some Russian. Да свиданя. Now I KNOW I totally spelled that wrong (don’t judge me, it’s been awhile) but even just by the end of the word I was already getting faster with letter placement. All I did was study my on-screen keyboard and let my fingers do the finding. However you decide to practice your new keyboard, just remember to be patient with yourself. No matter how good your typing skills you’ll probably hit the wrong letter 50 times before you finally learn where the right letter is, and that’s perfectly okay. Go at your own pace. Don’t judge yourself. And remember typing on your smartphone can help you learn letter placement on your keyboard, so long as the two are formatted the same.
Fonts: When you’re working in various languages, as much as you may love that pretty script font, Times New Roman is going to be your friend. Times New Roman as well as other base system fonts (Arial, Helvetica, etc.) should be your go to because they have a massive cross compatibility and the ability to support oh so many different letters and characters and ligatures and basically just about everything. If you really need a pretty font you’re going to have to look into language specific fonts, there are various resources around the internet and I know many of omniglot’s pages have links to free fonts for specific languages, you may even get lucky and find out that a favorite font of yours has all the right stuff to type in your target language. Another great resource is Google Fonts, it’s got tons of free fonts you can download or use on the web and you can even sort them by language.
And remember, it’s important to use a font that you’re comfortable with. Some research supports that writing things in hard to read fonts can help you remember them, but if you can’t read it at all then it’s not going to help you at all. This is especially important for people with any kind of disability that makes reading and writing more difficult, use what works and don’t let anybody judge your font choices.
And that’s the basics of typing in your target language. Below I’m going to write a few language specific tips:
Arabic, Hebrew and Persian/Farsi: You gotta be careful when typing with these languages because many programs can’t handle the written direction. Watch out for programs literally flipping your letters, flipping entire words, or not connecting letters properly. While I’ve heard many programs are getting better at it, your best bet is to do your own research and make sure that whatever programs you’re using they can handle right-to-left typing, and be aware you may have to download new programs for it to work.
Chinese and Japanese: Typing in these two languages is a bit more complicated than others because of the character system. The typing system is a bit different in that you’re basically typing into a small program that then outputs the characters. While you can download cute keyboards for these, my experience of them has always been that they’re vaguely annoying. I recommend you stick with your built in system keyboard. These are fairly easy to use and fun to work with, and remember you can type entire sentences and the program can guess the characters based on context so you don’t have to go searching for the right characters after every word. Just be sure to learn the layout and the romanisation system that the computer is using. It may be more complicated than you think.
Type in Japanese
Type in Chinese
Other Non Alphabetic Languages: If you’re working with a language that doesn’t use an alphabet (for example, syllabic systems like Devanagari, Thai, etc.) you’re going to need to do your own research on how the keyboard system for that particular language works when it comes to typing. They will probably function similar to the languages listed above in that more likely than not, you just need to hit the right key on your keyboard and the computer does all the work for you. The key is finding that right key because in some cases you may be typing with numbers and punctuation as if they were letters in order to get what you need, or the placement of letters may be shifted from what you’re familiar with. Use the tips above to help you handle this shift.

10 E-Commerce Web Design Tips to Drive Sales and Increase Conversions
Tumblr media
Over the years, there has been continued rapid growth in e-commerce; and it’s all thanks to technology and the internet. It’s easier and more fun to order things from our mobile phones while relaxing on a couch. But, this growth isn’t entirely positive for everyone. With this growing trend, the competition is also increasing at a great pace. And, some sites are lacking big time.
What if you wanted to buy something you like that’s also on a good discount? But alas! The site is too complicated to finish the purchase. You’ll probably want to avoid all the hassle and visit another site with better navigation.
An average consumer wants a convenient shopping experience. Web design is more than just using pretty pictures; interactive design trends indicate that all the visual elements should be able to work together to give an amazing user experience. Your online store’s design goal should be more conversions, more sales and increased repeat customers.
Factors that affect conversions are related to how your e-commerce site is designed. If it is easy to find the information you need, or if the website communicates a trustworthy brand image, it all depends on the design. You cannot ignore any part of the user journey. Every step that the user takes on your website, from the initial landing page through checkout, should be carefully designed with the final purchase in mind.
Today, we will be discussing the best practices in e-commerce web design which you can use to up your game and reach your business goals.
1) Let Your CTA Science Prevail
Want to convert a visitor in the least amount of time? It’s essential that you have a clear call-to-action (CTA). They can be made to stand out by using contrasting colors in comparison to your store’s theme and other design elements to grab visitor’s attention.
Then, you can also play around with the wording of the CTA to target different types of demographics. You can even influence customers to take action quickly by bringing in a sense of urgency to it. Choose words and phrases like “a few left,” “buy now,” “free shipping” etc. for the CTA to make it seem urgent. Human psychology plays a critical role here.
As in these buttons above, there is not much difference in the text; but, the red button can get you more conversions than the green. CTA is more of a science than an art.
2) One-Click Checkout Can Save Customers Time
Amazon has this amazing one-click checkout feature on their products pages. This way, you can avoid the “Add to cart” step and make the process of checking out even faster.
Suppose you’ve something in your cart that you wanted to save for the near future but don’t want to delete it; here comes a one-click CTA to the rescue.
Amazon took advantage of this, and they were able to increase conversions tenfold. Although they have lost the patent, now anybody can use this element on their online store in any way they desire.
Research found that a customer was able to place an order and checkout in 10% of the time of a conventional checkout process, which is a major factor in the case of abandoned carts – when a visitor abandons the checkout process simply because it is too complicated.
3) Easy Checkouts
A lot of the time, people fill their carts but end up abandoning it. Have you ever wondered why? Usually, it’s because checkout was too complicated! Be sure to use the following tactics to keep your checkouts quick, easy and convenient:
Always remember to put in various payment options and make it user-friendly.
Never ask too many questions while checking out; this could be a big turnoff.
Always keep navigation easy. Never complicate it by putting in too many CTA’s while the payment is being made.
4) Keep in Touch
Always keep your visitors updated. Triggered notifications are quite similar to the notifications that you receive regularly from your Facebook and Instagram; the only difference is that the companies send this to their visitors whenever they are online.
There are various types of tools which can keep your customer updated:
Push Notifications
These are the notifications which contain a message sent on your subscribers’ device by the website or web app. It is not necessary for the customer to be on the website; you can send push notifications anyway. These turn out to be great converters.
Emails and SMS
You should also send customers emails and text messages regularly so that they don’t miss out on any updates. Let them know that you care for them. They will surely notice that you miss them and will visit you again. Design your website so that it’s easy for customers to sign up for email and text notifications, but make sure to not shove it down their throats.
Web/Mobile Banners
Design your banners beautifully with interesting fonts and pops of color. Let your customers know that your product is on sale or that you’re shipping it for free!
Customers love discounted products. Banners are one of the best ways to attract the customer's eye.
When your customer visits the page, you receive an alert so that you can keep them updated by sending them emails, text messages and push notifications to encourage a repeat visit (and possible conversion). There’s a lot of Marketing Automation Software in the market to lead you in the game.
5) Lead the Game with SEO
For most visitors, your on-site search tool is the beginning of their purchasing path, so it is imperative that they are able to easily locate it on the website. Customers are more likely to make a purchase if they find exactly what they are looking for.
This makes it easier for the customer just to click on the desired results and not to type the whole thing. Once a customer does a search, they should be able to easily filter the results based on various metrics. There should be a filtering functionality so that customer is able to easily sort through numerous search results. This is a sure-fire way of improving conversions.
Google Search Console and Ahrefs are some of the best tools to make your site SEO friendly.
6) Ignoring Mobile is a Big Mistake
More than half of the world’s population uses mobile phones, as they are very convenient. More than 50% of e-commerce purchases happen over mobile phones.
People will often want to skip you if your site isn’t mobile optimized. There are several sites that you can use to let you know whether or not your site is on the right path to mobile. A simple Google Tool test can let you know.
Here’s some tips on how to keep your online store’s design mobile optimized:
Never put in big banners and pop-ups that cover up the whole screen.
The CTA’s should be clear enough to read on a small screen.
The images of the products should be displayed in proper order and preferences.
Always show best sellers on the top, so that customers don’t need to scroll to find the desired product.
Consider how your store’s desktop layout will translate onto small screens, how the most important elements are highlighted on a page and how navigation works on mobile. Do this so that a visitor can find what they need quickly and easily.
7) Encourage & Show Off Customer Reviews
Social proof is a thing that many people live by. Typically, shoppers avoid buying products that don’t have any reviews. Keeping this in mind, many sites are now using customer reviews to up their sales. Amazon is the biggest example of this; it has reviews for each and every product and allows anyone review or share snapshots about the product and their experience.
No one wants to risk their money, but customers will be more comfortable trusting the product that has a thumbs up from the masses.
Also, there’s a variety of new ways for people to rate and review products, making ratings more helpful by including different aspects. For example, many clothing retailers categorize the ratings into design, quality, comfort, and fit.
Credibility increases if you write “verified purchase” near the review to show that this reviewer actually purchased the product. You can help customers find the most helpful reviews by creating a review snapshot, as seen below.
8) Enable Easy Email Signups
Always make sure your website makes it easy for customers to subscribe to you so that you can keep them updated. If you’ve got a lot of subscribers, you'll want to to shower them with love. Send them emails with special discounts and coupon codes. Email marketing is considered one of the most effective ways to boost conversions for your online store.
You can make it simple for customers to sign up for marketing emails or newsletters by adding a module at the bottom of your website. Customers can easily type in their email address to get exclusive sales and updates in their inbox. Another way of doing this is by adding an email subscription checkbox option in CTA's; you can even incentivize email signup with a discount code.
9)  Add a Referral Option
People trust their people. Often, you'll find that many people tend to change their mind about any product when it is referred by their family or friends. Many referrals also come with discount coupons, giving a two-way benefit to you and the referral; they get a discount while you gain a customer.
Every e-commerce site should consider using referrals to boost their sales. You can easily add in a referral code CTA into your online store's design that triggers after any purchase. Make the feature simple and include both an email address box and a link that anyone can easily copy for simple sharing. This one small design feature will prove to be incredibly useful on your site.
10) Keep an Eye on Customer Needs
Suppose that a customer is on your site to buy a camera. So, don’t just let your customer leave only with that; suggest they add on a memory card and a camera case along with it. Upselling products is a great tool, and can be effectively implemented into the design of your site’s product pages.
Supplementary products are definitely a great up seller, because when will suggest people buy the items that complement their original intended purchase on a discounted price, they tend to buy it. After all, what good will a camera be without a memory card?
11) Make Customers Feel Protected
Trust is a major factor when it comes to conversions. Secure Socket Layer, or SSL, is a protocol that ensures a site’s security. It displays as a green bar in the URL section of a webpage. If customers don’t see the green URL bar, they usually avoid doing the payment.
Make your visitors feel protected. This green bar means that the website encrypts the user’s personal and banking information and makes it nearly impossible for hackers and scam artists to steal it. Nobody wants to risk purchasing from an unsafe website. Displaying your site’s SSL has the capability to reduce the bounce rate of your site by a significant number.
Google also prefers these green-certified websites. They rank these websites better to their counterparts. Google gives you a 5% better ranking if you have this green bar.
You can additionally integrate trust badges into your website’s design, typically displaying at checkout to reassure your customer that their transaction will be protected in a way that’s approved by authorized parties.
12) Write Relevant Content
The design of your website isn’t just about the visuals; you also have to think about your copy. Play with your words and write good content on your site so that people get hooked and find what they need. Here's a few tips on how you can improve your site's copy:
Don’t use too much jargon or buzzwords; just write to make your products stand out. Impressive and relevant words might get you more conversions.
Research shows that people tend to skip on reading long and paragraphs, instead preferring detailed, yet short, content.
Keep the heading short, unique and good enough to know about the content that lies ahead.
Apple’s homepage gives us the best example of effective and well-designed copy, as they have written enough to inform users about the product. For the people who need to know a detailed description about the product, they can visit the ‘learn more’ link.
Conclusion
Creating an e-commerce site doesn’t need to require a big budget, but keeping pace with the industry requires good practice.
Keep exploring things. Always keep a close eye on the status of your progress. If you need any type of help the experts of the Web Designing Company Clearwater, FL are always there to assists you. Stay in touch.

How to Write a Resume
Tumblr media
's easy to forget that it's
a recent invention.Of course, how recent of a creation it is depends on what you specify as a"resume". The word originates from the French résumé, meaning"summary". If we define a resume as a summary of job abilities and experience, then the very first resume dates from a letter that Leonardo da Vinci wrote to a prospective employer between 1481 and 1482. Resumes as we understand them today, nevertheless, didn't come into presence up until the mid-twentieth century. By the 1970s, they looked much the method they do today: professionally formatted summaries of skills and experience that were expected with any task application. Prior to this point, resumes did exist, however they were far more casual, typically doodled on scraps of paper. They likewise included information that would be, well, unsuitable on a contemporary resume such as height, weight, marital status, and religion. To read a complete, ahem, résumé of the resume's history, check out this timeline from Service Expert. So what function does a resume serve these days? Afterall, can't prospective employers simply look up your abilities and experience on your individual site or LinkedIn profile? They can, and in some cases job
applications will need you to apply with your LinkedIn profile. And it's constantly a great idea to include a link to your personal site as part of individual blog or website where you can showcase your work to any interested party.Above all, just take notice of the requirements for the specific task-- they'll indicate whether you require to send a resume, portfolio, or other materials.2. The length of time should my resume be? I understand, I understand
, you read College Info Geek. Which implies you probably have more badass accomplishments and experience than the typical individual. However that does not imply it's alright to create a 5-page resume
... and even a 2-page one.For a lot of people reading this
website, your resume should be one page, no longer. If you have more than five years expert experience, then it can be suitable to add an extra page, however I 'd avoid it in many cases.
Unless you're a senior-level executive, your resume ought to not go beyond one page.If that feels too short, then don't fret. We'll resolve how to make all the relevant experience fit in a bit.3. How"imaginative" should my resume formatting be? In an attempt to stand out from the crowd, some trainees will print their resume on fancy paper, add colors and graphics, or even provide their resume by means of provider pigeon (alright that last one may be a stretch, but you never ever know).
There's absolutely nothing wrong with any of these techniques per se,
however in basic I 'd suggest you avoid them. If you're a designer and know how to make a file that looks great and is simple to read, then by all ways get innovative with the design of your resume-- it can be a possibility to display your style skills. For most students, however, I suggest you stay with black Arial or Times New Roman on a white background. Particularly if you're submitting your resume digitally, this guarantees that the possible company will have no problem reading it.In some cases, obviously, the job application will ask you to consist of an unconventional resume such as a video or web page. If that holds true, then go all out!(even if it's" optional ").4. How need to I format my resume?I stated you ought to choose black Arial or Times New Roman on a white background, however that ignores all the other information of formatting the resume.
How should you structure it? What size font should you utilize? Do you put your contact info at the top or bottom?Instead of trying to provide one "best"response to these questions, I'll recommend that you utilize
among the thousands exceptional resume design templates that are already on the internet. Here are a few that will work for practically any task: One final formatting suggestion: unless the task application shows otherwise, submit your resume as a PDF. This will ensure that the recipient can view it with the format you planned no matter what os or
software application they utilize to open it.5. Can I recycle the same resume for different task applications?Well, yes and no. It's fine to utilize the exact same template and structure for various job applications in order to conserve time. You must always tailor your resume to
the specific job.In reality, not customizing your resume to the particular position is one of the most typical resume errors. Employing supervisors can identify a generic resume from a mile away, so put in the effort to consist of experience and skills appropriate to this job, not any task.6.
What should I consist of in my resume? I currently informed you your resume should be simply one page, so what do you include? Taking all of your experience and condensing it into one page can be overwhelming.
The key is to select the most relevant experience. For example, let's state you're obtaining an internship at a law company. Naturally, you won't have actually worked in a law practice in the past-- that's the whole factor you'regetting the internship. But you can consider your previous tasks and how experiences in them would connect to what you would do at a law company internship.A job working the front desk in your dorm, for example, has within all of it sort of potentially pertinent experiences. A job like that teaches you how to be expert, how to answer the phone, how to handle conflict, and how to keep a disciplined schedule. All of which could be pertinent to the law practice internship.7. What is a skill?Okay, so no one has ever straight up asked me this concern, but there's absolutely some confusion about what a"skill" is when it concerns resumes. So let's get something clear
: a" ability"is a particular technical capability you have. These are not abilities: Yes, they may be soft abilities, however your resume is not the place for soft abilities. Show off your soft abilities in the interview. These are abilities: If you're not sure if something is a skill, then leave it out.And please, please don't consist of an ability you do not have. Your employer will find out and it will be uncomfortable. Specifically if it's declaring you speak a specific foreign language at an "innovative"level when in reality you took one term of it as a freshman.8. What if I do not have any experience? When trainees state" I do not have any experience", that's hardly ever the case.
Unless you really did spend all of college sitting in your dormitory eating tacky puffs and playing Overwatch, you have something you can talk about. Sometimes you just need to think beyond the box. Here are experiences/positions that could all be relevant
to a resume:

Do’s
Compare rates
Look at rates on the rental agencies and travel sites. Make sure that any “bargains” truly are deals in the real sense. Sometimes a rate truly isn’t so incredible after you count every one of the expenses and assessments. Requesting AARP-part limits could spare you up to 20 percent, while AAA and travel reliability projects can likewise trim expenses.
Checking coupon locales, booking compacts and maintaining a strategic distance from “extras” like satellite radio are different approaches to save. Consider gathering your vehicle at an area other than the air terminal to stay away from those charges. What’s more, be careful about rental organization gas tank top up packs; some snappy math, contingent upon costs at the time, will enable you to decide if fueling yourself is the better alternative.
Book early
Booking early gives you adaptability for decision and valuing. Longer lead times mean more accessible vehicles, a more extensive determination and better rates. Arrive before the actual arranged time, or rather on time, while restoring a rental vehicle. Indeed, even slight lateness can cost you an extra day.
This bit of vehicle rental guidance appears obvious, yet think- Do you truly require a rental vehicle? Paying for a rental, gas, and parking doesn’t bode well if you are planning to relax on a beach while your vacation or investigating city streets. Consider renting just for a day or two and utilizing open transportation and taxis whatever is left of the time. Then again, if you have a family vehicle, and you are looking for a long road trip, renting makes sense. So analyze everything then decide.
Limit insurance
It’s almost certain you are as of now insured for a rental vehicle on your current insurance policy, however, check first with your insurance office, purchasing just supplemental protection as required. In any event, you need CDW protection. Avail budget coupons and get up to 25% off on your car rental bookings! A great deal indeed! Some credit cards do offer additional CDW when you utilize them to pay for your vehicle rentals.
Beware of restrictions
Most, yet not all, U.S. offices enable you to cross into and drive around Canada. There may be a few restrictions and protection issues, nonetheless, so ask before going to the Great White North. In the meantime, down south, crashing into Mexico is taboo by American-based offices. Likewise, a few organizations have limitations on backcountry driving, say, or bringing their cars into significant metropolitan zones. Know about those limitations previously taking that Land Rover for a desert excursion.
Check for damage
Stroll around the vehicle, taking note of any dings, scratches or marks. Utilize your camera or cell phone to take pictures or video of any damage. Bring up the damage to the rental operator and request him or her to note it on the papers. On the off chance that you experience any pushback, or the harm appears to be broad, ask for another vehicle.
Don’ts
Prepaying Gasoline
Prepaid gasoline may look appealing while traveling, but it furthermore relieves worries of being late for flights, as every few minutes added to the trip counts on being late to the board. In any case, except if you are totally certain you will restore the tank unfilled, or you have an afternoon flight that would profit you and you will not need to refuel yourself, don’t succumb to this one.
Indeed, even the alternative where they charge you just for fuel you really utilize is tipped forcefully in the rental office’s support in light of the fact that the expense of having them refuel your vehicle is constantly higher than the expense of doing it yourself.
Failing to check for AAA, AARP, reward program or other discounts
Numerous membership programs build up by vehicle rental agencies offer great discounts. These include travel agencies like AAA, aircraft frequent flier projects, age-specific associations like the AARP, and even a few sports or even a few hobbies centered gatherings. Rental vehicle discounts and offers are ordinarily recorded on the association’s site; if you are paying membership charges, you can view booking and you could explore a lot of deals.
Ignoring potential offers for upgrades
Previously, I’ve prescribed saving a low-valued vehicle and afterward asking about upgrades at the rental office. This works best at occupied times when the garage is running low on its least expensive vehicles and may offer you free or truly reasonable upgrade up to a bigger vehicle because of stock management issues.
As a rule, the agent has significant power in setting upgrade rates, so on the off chance that he or she inquires as to whether you are interested in a bigger vehicle, act like that relies upon the price; you may wind up in a lot greater and better vehicle at an insignificant expense.
Purchasing insurance, your own auto insurance covers you
Prior to accepting this one without needing any proof, it ought to be underlined that insurance protection approaches can differ significantly, so you will need to check with your very own insurer first. If you get complete coverage, it may exclude inclusion for rental cars or you have a “full cover,” which all insurance are likely to cover. Call or email your insurance agent to confirm.
Leaving final inspection to chance
Lately, the way of returning vehicles has turned out to be simple, you just have to follow signs to the back of a row of recently returned vehicles, take out your stuff, leave the key in the vehicle and leave without addressing anybody straightforwardly. On the off chance that it feels disrupting just to leave the vehicle without a specialist looking at it, you can call for a checkup. You should; the most genuine complaints about vehicle rental organizations have been disagreements regarding damage claims. On the off chance that no representative is available at drop off, just take photographs or videos of a moderate stroll around the vehicle.
So these were a few of the do’s and don’ts that you should consider before renting a car. Renting a car is easy but having to optimize it well is quite a task. So don’t fall on traps and get the best of your rental. Hope it was helpful, All the best!

How to use Apple's Keynote on the Mac and iPad to prepare compelling presentations
AppleInsider looks at the little-used extra tools in Keynote that make creating presentations faster, clearer and more powerful. It's regularly claimed that number one best feature about Apple's Keynote slide presentation software is that it is not Microsoft PowerPoint. We wouldn't disagree. PowerPoint is complex when you're making a presentation and doesn't get easier when you're in the audience. Just watch anybody, new or experienced, struggle with finding where PowerPoint hides its Play Slides button and you'll wish they'd used Keynote. There is also the fact that PowerPoint slides somehow always look like they're PowerPoint slides. Keynote does seem different because fewer people use it. If that's you, if you're turning to Keynote to just be a little distinctive, you're in good company. Steve Jobs did exactly the same thing. Subscribe to AppleInsider on YouTube If you also use Keynote because it's free and comes on your Mac and iPad then there's obviously nothing wrong with that either. However, you may be underestimating this software. Keynote is vastly easier to use than PowerPoint and it's not because it has fewer features. Like everything Apple does, Keynote has powerful functions that are kept out of your view until you need them. That's the case both when you're creating a presentation and later when you are actually in front of the audience. Keynote has so many tools that we're dividing this into two articles. This one is about how you make a complex and compelling presentation, then part two will be about how Keynote helps you actually present it to an audience. Making a presentation using Outline View So few presenters even know this exists. Right inside Keynote on the Mac, there is an outlining feature that lets you rapidly bash in all the ideas you've got for your presentation. Write a line or a note, hit Return, write the next one and keep going until it's all out of your head. Then drag the lines around to reorder them. It is a basic outliner but it lets you write headings and then add subtopics. It lets you collapse and expand lines so that you can see all the detail or just headings. What's more, every line you write in this outline is automatically a new slide in the presentation. On the Mac, open Keynote, start a presentation by choosing File, New and then in the View menu select Outline View. It isn't a particularly powerful feature. If you have a complex presentation to make or you're at the stage where really you're still trying to figure out what you want to cover, use something more powerful like OmniOutliner instead. If you do that, then you can write as complex an outline as you want and export it from OmniOutliner in PowerPoint format. Then in Keynote, choose Open, Open and select the PowerPoint-style document. Keynote brings the outline in and you can edit or amend it in the Outline View. This is where you hit the limits of Keynote's outlining: it will certainly display the top and second level of an OmniOutliner outline but that's all. If you've gone further with multiple levels of thoughts and notes, you won't see them in Keynote. Unfortunately you won't see the outline at all in Keynote for iOS as there is no Outline View in that. This is another reason for using an alternative like OmniOutliner, however. You can Share the outline from OmniOutliner into Keynote to start your presentation yet keep the full one viewable in the outlining app. You again have to choose to share it in PowerPoint format, though. While OPML is a standard for all outliners, Keynote's one won't recognize the format. It's still not great that once you've created a detailed outline you can't actually see it in Keynote except the presentation app doesn't just store a list of what you've typed. Instead, it creates full-blown slides for you. On the Mac, go back to the View menu and switch from outline to Navigator. This is the view you're most used to in Keynote: it's where you enter the details of your slides and where you add new ones. Except this time. This time it's done all of that for you by automatically creating one slide for every line in your outline. The slides will have the text from your outline on them, too, so in theory you could now just play the presentation and be done with it. Master slides In practice, though, the slides that are automatically created for you are basic. You're definitely going to want to add more text detail or drag in images but you can also choose to edit the look of your slides. You can always do this: on any Keynote slide you can alter images, or drag in new backgrounds but you're better off spending some time at the beginning. Keynote comes with different themes or templates but you can also take the basic, barebones black-text-on-white style and build it up into your own template. Add gradients, add colors, choose fonts. If you have a company logo that you are required to use on every slide, pop it on a Master Slide. If it's a particularly ugly company logo, put it at bottom left. That's not a Keynote tip, it's a general design one: people tend to look at the bottom left of anything least of all. Basic non-linear presentations What you can be certain about is that people will look at your slides one after another -- unless you choose otherwise. The giant majority of presentations are linear. You start with slide number one and you go on to what feels like slide number a million. There's nothing wrong with this, unless you visibly number each slide. Even then, things could be worse: you could be numbering it as "1 of 9,999" and guarantee that your audience will loathe your breathing guts. Still, making a regular, unnumbered linear presentation is actually the very best you can do because it requires certain things from you. It requires that you really think through what you're planning to say -- and you have to have thought deeply about your audience. Both consumers and industry experts might want to know about Intel's processor roadmap but you still wouldn't make the same presentation to them both. Sometimes, though, you can't be certain who you're going to present to or what their level of interest and expertise is. In that case, you can create a non-linear presentation. If you know that today's presentation is going to be basic and tomorrow's is more detailed, then you can create a simple non-linear one by skipping slides. Write the full, detailed presentation and make sure that each section begins with a good summary screen. Then before you start in front of the audience who wants the basic one, tell Keynote to skip the detail slides. On the Mac, click on the first slide you want to skip and then shift-click on the last one. Choose the Skip Slide menu and Skip Slide. Alternatively, select all of the skippable slides and then right-click and choose Skip Slide from the dropdown menu. From now on, once you press Play to start the slideshow, Keynote will automatically skip those slides. When you're editing the presentation you can see which have been skipped because instead of a full slide-shaped icon in the Navigator's sidebar, you'll get narrow lines. More advanced non-linear presentations If you don't have a clue how much your audience is going to know already or want to know now, well, try to find out. When you simply cannot, though, and are effectively winging it, prepare a true non-linear presentation. This is where you can jump to any topic at any time -- and, at least as importantly, jump back out when you feel that you've said enough. Write the complete presentation and, again, make certain each section begins with a good summary slide. Then go back to the beginning of the presentation and create a menu slide. This is just one that lists every topic in your entirely presentation -- and each topic heading is secretly a link to its related section. Select a heading on the menu screen, then right click and choose Add Link from the menu that pops out. This gives you three options: Slide, Webpage and Mail. Choose Slide and you get six more options. There are some basic ones like Next Slide or Previous Slide and more complex ones like Last Slide Viewed. Choose the last option which is headed Slide and is followed by a number. Choose the number of the slide where that section begins. This is a hidden link so far as your audience is concerned. When you're editing the presentation, you'll see every link marked with an arrow icon but on presentation day there'll be no clue what is or isn't a link. That can be confusing on the day but you're also going to get lost when you're creating the presentation. It's so certain that you'll get slide numbers mixed up that Keynote helps you. When you've entered the number of the slide you want to jump to, click on the button Go to Slide to be certain you've got the right one. Keynote will update these numbers as you add in slides so if you suddenly pop in an extra ten at the start, you don't have to redo this jump numbering. So you could do this as you go, adding menu items and jump links while writing each section. Don't. You'll make fewer mistakes and it will take a lot less time if you do it all at the end -- and you'll save time doing something of the sort at the beginning, too. Jump back Once you've created or at least begun your menu slide, go back to the Master Slides. Select a symbol from the Shapes button such as a circle and when it's on your slide, resize it. Make it small and unobtrusive but also clear and easily clickable or tappable. Then select it, right click and again choose Add Link. If you do this on the Master Slide then every single slide you ever create in this presentation will come with a ready-built button to take you and your audience back to the menu. Viewing the presentation as a whole Whether you go slide by slide or leap all over the place, you do take your audience through a complete show and it can be long. The actual length is up to you but there is also how long the presentation feels and part of that is down to pace and variety. If every slide is full of text then it will seem to drag. To get an idea of how varied your slides are, choose the View menu and Light Table. This is named for the actual tables with lights in that photographers used to use. They could lay out strips of film and, because they were lit from below, would be able to see all of their photographs clearly in order to select the best. Similarly, you can see all of your slides laid out in a grid so you can get a quick visual impression of how the entire presentation looks. If every part is the same, if there's just no variation, you now know and can break things up. Light Table is also a kind of visual outliner: you can drag slides around to re-order them as you need. This works on the iPad too: tap the three-dot ellipses icon at top right and then choose Light Table from the menu. To go back, do the same thing but choose Slide View instead. This is a rare case of the Mac and iOS versions of Keynote being pointlessly different: Slide View on the iPad is what the Mac version calls the Navigator. Breaking up text When you do look at the Light Table view and cringe at how text-heavy your presentation is, you can drag images, audio and video into it. If you must. Images are fine and will always be a boon to a presentation. The problem comes with video and audio. Keynote does let you drag video on to a slide and it even comes with basic video editing tools. In theory, you could drag a radio concert or a major motion picture into Keynote and have it as a slide. In practice, it doesn't matter what you do with your Keynote file if the venue you're presenting hasn't got any loudspeakers. Just as you need to find out all you can about your audience before you start writing your presentation, it will help to learn about the venue too. Ask the staff there to take a photo of the projector and any other equipment: that will show you what connectors there are. It may show you that there is a fantastic sound system just waiting for you. Yet still we avoid video and audio because venues are out of our control and can go wrong. They should all have staff who can work the equipment but you know they don't. And you know that if your presentation depends on the audience watching a video whose audio they can't hear, it's not the venue who'll get the blame. It's not the venue who will have to work to get the audience back on side. So perhaps the most useful thing we can say about how Keynote helps on the day you're presenting is to caution you against video. There is a lot more, though. Keynote on the Mac and the iPad can both help you during your presentation -- just in different ways.
