Also, it’s cool you’ve gotten into the game! The last time I played was when IDV did the BSD collab and I thought one of the skins only to never use it �� I might start playing again.

And I saw your post about the art style change. While I didn’t like the art style of the first few volumes, this second art change that the past year’s chapters have isn’t good. It’s too cutesy and as you and the other person said, makes everyone look the same. *sigh*

LMAO which skin was it? as much as I love bsd I have a feeling I wouldn't have used the skins either idk I just like playing Luca in his og prison rat uniform I don't think I would've liked to play as Dazai at the function 😭 plus I just refuse to spend real money on in game costuming because I'm frugal and I dislike paying for intangible things

as for the artstyle, I get not liking the early stuff, it's not everyone's cup of tea :0 but man I fucked with it hardcore and I especially enjoy when manga artstyles look more unique or just have a certain aesthetic to them, so seeing it kinda get smoothed out to this more "generic" style just kinda hurt rip

I’d like to know your opinion on Fire Investigator’s design in Identity V since the game takes place during the 1890s and his clothes are moreso 1920s inspired if I remember correctly? What’s your viewpoint on his design? I saw your old posts where you made different survivors’ outfits historically accurate, so I’d like to know your view!

Looking at some old photos and illustrations, his design is a bit of a patchwork of eras. I think his coat has some elements of the late Victorian uniform in that it's the right color scheme and length. It looks like most firefighters from the late 19th century wore double-breasted blue coats that varied from hip to knee length with gold or silver buttons, as well as a badge on the left side of the chest. The most inaccurate parts of his design are his gear, leg wear, and his hat.

With the gear, IDV plays really fast and loose with tech developments, like Ada driving a modern-looking car in some scenes, semi-sentient robots etc, so that I think comes with the territory.

The hat really stands out though but I understand (but regret) that the design they went with is much more aesthetically pleasing than the very doofy headwear Victorian firefighters did wear. It does look like that helmet type was being used in the 1920s in the United States.

The leg wear is something real United States firefighters used in the 1970s, but that's way off from the timeline.

I do think that the designers like to refer to the 1920s a lot when it comes to their designs. Helena's general outfit with the cloche hat and loose fit, Margaretha being an almost one-to-one recreation of actress Lina Basquet, and Evelyn's clothes resembling something from a 1920s winter fashion plate are the ones that come to mind immediately.

So I guess he's semi-accurate? Like a lot of designs in the game he has a medley of elements from different historical eras. I do think some parts of his design read a little too modern and that he could still pop even with slightly more accurate leg coverings/spats. I personally would enjoy him with the stupid little helmet that would have been used irl in the 1890s because I think the Survivors can look a little goofy anyways so it's fun to lean into that.
