I want to stress that you all really shouldn’t give two shits what anyone thinks of your writing/RP/character. I remember one day years ago, a friend let me know about someone badmouthing me in some linkshell I wasn’t involved with, but what stuck out to me most when this friend shared a screenshot of the conversation was not the complaints of this person I knew had some axe to grind against me (that’s a dumb story of its own), but a complete stranger chiming in to agree that I am The Worst. This person’s criticism was something along the lines of, “Ugh, it’s so dumb that she RP’s all these things and does all this stuff when her character is just a little kid!” And I stared at that, baffled for a while, trying to figure out how a grown ass woman in her mid-20′s was a little kid. And then it dawned on me that I had written a series of snippets of Faye’s backstory, starting chronologically with a few moments from her childhood (that btw were very clearly and accurately dated with the in game year).

This person, who as far I as know I’d never met, spoken to, or seen, had gone out of their way to look at my writing, yet somehow missed or failed to understand the dates or the context that those moments were past happenings, somehow missed or failed to understand pretty much everything else about my character, yet still decided to pass a judgment on my RP and project that judgment onto the quality of my character OOC, because this person wanted to hate me so badly that “she’s an 8-year-old noblewoman conjurer battling Garleans who runs an adventuring free company and hosts tavern nights and has a boyfriend” sounded like a real thing in their head?? Idk if that’s uplifting or depressing, really lol. But what I’m trying to get at is some people are just bent on hating you for no good reason and will grasp at straws trying to invent reasons for it. Please don’t confuse those as valid criticisms of your writing or of who you are as a person.
