Expanding into my other Fandoms (I’m gonna have to take a stance) Read the whole thing please.

One of my oldest and most beloved anime is Inuyasha. As of late I have been binged watching the hell out of it as I am getting my BFF into different anime shows. We are really close to entering the Yashahime part of the series, and she asked if I planned to write fanfiction involving the one character which made me even watch the show as a 10-year-old.

Sesshomaru

The first episode I ever watched involved this aloof, entitled dog fighting his brother over the sword in their father’s grave. Specifically, it was part 3 of that whole episode series were Kagome pulled out the sword. I at the time had 3 dogs of German Sheppard/wolf hybrid, they were MASSIVE dogs, fell in love with the big white fluff that was Sesshomaru’s demon form. I use to sneak staying up and watch the show faithfully to see the goodest boy as it was only on at 11pm EST on adult swim. Which meant it was bad and I was breaking the rules, I felt like a rebel.

Now I hesitated answering that question. She has no idea of what is in Yashahime, she is being careful not to spoil it so I told her I didn’t know. Recently, to find out what the feel is for Sesshomaru content, I looked into the tag on tumblr…

OH MY GOD.

Sesshomaru’s tag is FLOODED with hate. Like every four post, there is hate, distain, and attacking happening. As someone who watches Yashahime, I quickly knew why.

Sessrin.

Even now I sigh. And I sigh HARD. I am not for, nor am I against the Sessrin train. Same for the Sesskagu train. I think both sides need to look at things on a logical prospective. I plan to do just that. I know I will get hate from the either side and maybe some support as well. But if I am going to do anything in this fandom (as I like doing ships and reader inserts) it will come up.

So, like my Kaiba post, and my Sebastian Heel post, I will use my research skills as well as my COLLEGE DEGREE WHICH HAS BOTH ART AND MEDIEVAL HISTORY labelled on it to explain why this progression in the story is normal to anti-Sessrin fans and why this isn’t a crime by story standards nor should we look at it as a crime.

AS WELL

Explain to Sessrin fans why it is so weird for non-shippers to see it play out and why so much hate formed.

As I let out another sigh, we shall begin. Let’s start at an historical prospective. (Links at the bottom).

I will start with the information I can access right away.

While finding charts on the life-span of common folk in 1590’s Feudal Japan is rather difficult, Ancient.edu states that the average lifespan was about 50. To put this in perspective, the average lifespan of Europeans at the time was somewhere between 40-45 with the latter being rare. Since most of us reading are not from Japanese descent, I will through Europe in this first.

If we look at the same time frame of 1590, we are looking at most of Western Europe had now entered the age of Renaissance. According to sources from Learning Resources in association with the National Gallery of Art, marriage was not what TV drama’s from HBO or Hulu depicted. By today standards they would be a crime, as the average age for marriage of an adult female was age 14…

The reasoning behind the young marriage age had multiple factors. First being, females were considered an adult once they were menstruating. Birthing also proved to be fatal, and since the lifespan was at best 40 and 45 if they were lucky, there was really no room to wait. Also Europe at the time had became hugely focused on making sure blood lines were legitimate, meaning to ensure the girl was a virgin, the moment she was able to reproduced she was married off. Those they married were not young teenagers either. Most marriages, a man would be in their thirties, and had probably multiple wives as women died more than men when not counting the battle field.

To make matters worse for the Renaissance Lady, these marriages would leave many young males unable to marry and if their husband died in battle, well, unfortunately they were not seen as desirable. This was due to the idea of a ‘free woman’. Should the girl not have a father, brother or uncle to return to as they too died, a widow had her freedom. But that freedom came at a cost. She would be assumed to have slept around, and in many writings, such as the Canterbury Tales, where Geoffrey Chaucer writes about a Window on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land survived her five husbands and the men in her family. In short, she was made to be a slut and to be looked down upon as no man controlled her.

The point of talking about Europe is because that is something most of us Non-Asian or Japanese people consume and like to paint in large romantic brush strokes of knights and magic. Honestly, reading G.R.R.Martin Song of Ice and Fire, he uses this model as we see the Queen of Dragons, Danny start off at age thirteen shortly after she had her first menstruation.  

Now let’s look at Feudal Japan.

As stated before, the lifespan was around 50 years. In some populations, this was even shorter. Nagaoka, Hirata, Yokota and Matsu’ura’s on demographic data at the Yuigahama-minami area in Kamakura, Japan and found both male and female remains that suggested life expectancy to have ended around age 24-25. This was largely due to living conditions and public health. In areas like these, it would make the most sense to marry and repopulate quickly as the expectancy of life was half the national average at the time.

To my frustration, I could not find a clear marriage age for Japanese women at the time of the edo period. HOWEVER, where there is a will there is a way. I took a look at famous Lords or Daimyo’s of the time. The average age of marriage of their wives was between 12-14. Much younger than I expected, but it made sense considering this is a time where war ran the show and marriage was strictly about political gain. One of these Daimyo’s was Masamune Date, who was also 13, but then as he got older took concubines who became considerably younger than him as he became older. The goal was to have as many children as possible for hires and for political marriages to gain power.

Now lets look at Inuyasha the MANGA

Lets get the manga timeline proper here. The whole adventure took place in 11 months, a month shy of Kagome’s 16th birthday. Doing a few estimations, Rin would have travelled with Sesshomaru about 8-9 of those months. But before we get into the relationship, lets look at something the ANIME made a huge mistake with in the beginning and tried to fix as the story went on.

Notice the issue here? 

Sesshomaru was CONSIDERABLY younger looking in the start of the manga. In the anime, he started off looking like an fully adult male. But as the anime went on, they tried to make Sesshomaru look younger with subtle changes to his jaw line, eye size, and his height. Yeah, his height had changed. They made him shorter.

While in the manga, we see this young-teen looking demon, slowly mature over 11 months to look like he is in his later teens and by series end, closer to being in his late teens or twenty. Yes, art changes over time, but the anime went a reverse route. I can only guess they spoke to the author of Inuyasha about her ships, as they did Drama CDs, and realized the mistake that was made in making him more mature than he was.

You can’t tell me he doesn’t look closer to his manga self in the final act, because he does.

Since we are on the topic of the anime, lets be clear. The anime timeline and manga timeline are very different. The story in the anime (in the English) suggests that OVER a year has past since Kagome started her journey. They try to fix this in the final act, but it was still so muddled as previous seasons are to be taken as cannon. This could have been due to an translation error in the early production when the anime no longer had anymore manga material to reference. But whatever the case, for English viewers the time the group spent together felt much longer.

So now we come to the heart of the issue.

Because of the mistakes of the anime, a lot of anti-sessrin see the relationship as father daughter. I’ll be honest, watching the anime and solely the anime as a teenager and as an adult (as the manga was on hold for a very long time due to author’s health. I was in college when it finished.), I too thought it was just a father-daughter relationship and Jaken the nanny who got punched all the time. In fact, the English took hard liberties with Kagura, as the English dubs often do with characters, and made it very clear her feelings for the demon lord and Sesshomaru very much recognized them (though he never responded). Even in her death scene, it felt as if he was saying good bye to a friend more than love interest. But who really knows, as there are things that point otherwise.  When another demon mock’s Kagura’s death, Sesshomaru gets super pissy.

The manga did also play with this fact when it came out in English, idk if the wording or message is different in the Japanese. Translation errors happen a lot even in todays releases, look at Kuroshitsuji.  So of course most anti-sessrin’s did not see this coming in Yashahime when Rin was named mother. In fact it felt like a betrayal as we were sure Sesshomaru had no romantic feelings.

Then there was the Kohaku/Rin mashup that was hinted left and right. The English anime, with its overly dramatic and blunt emotions made it appear one way. That in the end the two kids would probably be married. Then the anime as a whole made Sesshomaru older than intended. I can see why and understand how this became a problem.

On the other side of that coin.

If you followed the dub, seen ‘Swords of an Honorable Ruler’ and read the manga… Sesshomaru was not fatherly to Rin at all. In fact, Jaken picked up all of that leg work. Rin worried for Kohaku, but clearly loved Lord Sesshomaru. Sesshomaru cared about Kagura but he almost CRIED when he lost Rin.

We have to remember that Sesshomaru and Rin’s relationship must have been very hard for the demon. While we never see his mental process expect for a few rare times, we have to remember he hated humans. In the movie, he blamed a human for the early death of his father, Sesshomaru killed without mercy. It made sense that he wouldn’t be fatherly to Rin as her just being there should have caused countless inner conflicts. Hell, he even says his father’s weakness was humans, and look who picked up that trait.

Sesshomaru was designed to, someday, walk in his father’s footsteps. So sess/rin, not a surprise. Also when you see it in a historical perspective, Rin having kids around age 15-16, makes sense. In fact you could argue he waited too long for the time period.

We also need to look more at the manga when concerned with Yashahime. 8-9 months is all Rin travelled with him and he was like hold up, and left her at the village because he KNEW she needed to come to her own conclusion. That no matter what she picked he would live with and protect her. Unconditional love on his end. She cannon wise spent YEARS living with humans and MONTHS with Sesshomaru. Again, by manga standards of cannon.

Now I can already hear the screaming about age and what not. Some sources say Sesshomaru is over 900, by the rule of thumb, if we look at anime and movie releases, we have Sesshomaru being over 500 with no define age and Inuyasha around 270 years old being more pinpointed due to the movie. Just by going by ANIME CANNON. Kagome and Inuyasha, you have a 15 year old with a 270 year old man. If you say being pinned to the tree doesn’t count, then you have 220.

Also, here is something very interesting. In the episode where Inuyasha meets the unmother, he tells her, thinking it was his mom, she died when he was very small and we have flash backs later in the series of him being small running from demons. Demons clearly age much slower than humans, even half-demons. Inuyasha can be 270 but mentally and physically be 15, the same logic works for Sesshomaru, who in the manga is not much older than Inuyasha.

In the manga, there wasn’t any grooming, in the anime, there was a ton of mess-ups but no grooming.

Would this fly in todays world? HELL NO! NO, its gross, she’s a kid. Stop.

I know any fanfic I write will lean heavily on the side of father/daughter because that is what I grew up seeing on the screen. I can’t think of Rin as an adult because years of seeing her as a cheerful little girl. It’s like seeing G.O.T Arya about to have sex for the first time in season 8… I remember when she was a kid on the show. It was way to weird and I had to look away until it ended. But that’s my 2021 mentality.

But Inuyasha is not taking place in 2021. Feudal Japan is a whole other era with its own beliefs, morals and way of life. Those who understand this have nothing wrong with them. They just understand history.

Also, just to bang some nails in…

Anyone remember Bleach? Remember the MOST accepted couple was Ichigo and Rukia…. Rukia who was hundreds of years old and Ichigo who was 15… or Ichigo’s mom who was a teenager and his dad also hundreds of years old.

Most of this also boils down to Sesshomaru being a dude. As in reverse roles in animes its accepted and they don’t have the same historical context. Inuyasha is based off of historical context of Feudal Japan.

We need to stop spreading hate. We can’t accept some forms of literature because its European fantasy but bash other fantasy based literature for doing the same thing.

Sure, its weird for those who were use to seeing the father/daughter dynamic. Yes, there are extreme sessrin fans who post really questionable illegal content when they decide to leave Rin as an 8-year-old…

But this wasn’t ever meant to be perverted. The story was meant to make sense on a logical and historical base.

I hope everyone takes the time to read this. I love Inuyasha, I love Sesshomaru. I am just sick of seeing so many people fighting over what should be the revival of a beloved series. While yes, there is still room for sess/rin not being a thing, until it is stated otherwise, why hate each other? This fandom will only lose people by doing this. Calling people names or accusing them of illegal endorsement can hurt someone these days over social media.

Tumblr allows you to block tags. You don’t have to read anything or watch anything you don’t like. We gain nothing from attacking each other but can lose so much by doing so. Fanart, really good fan fiction, friends, ideas, sharing fond memories. Both sides have the right to feel as they feel, but no right in hurting each other.

A fandom is meant to bring people together. Not start a war…

Never expected the Laito vs Shin CD to be this deep on Laito’s side. Hi, I’m back at it again with another long rant.

Hiiii! It’s Corn here, with a long awaited analysis of the Laito vs Shin drama cd! 

I didn’t expect to like this pairing as much as I did, but honestly Shin’s abrasiveness brought more out of Laito than I expected. Maybe it’s also the combination of Laito struggling to keep himself restrained. 

If you wanna hear my shitpost 2 am reactions to this, here’s the link. I go back now and realize I forgot some stuff in my notes to put in there, but oh well haha. If you want me to release the ones I forgot let me know lololol, my 2 am ramblings are pretty funny in hindsight. Thank you to @/dialovers-translations for providing the translations to these CDs! If you want to check the CD out for yourself, here it is. And as always, if you want to add anything, feel free to! Huge analysis under the cut :)

So the CD starts off with Laito and Yui. They’re in public somewhere and Laito’s being… Laito. But he’s trying to be quiet which was off putting for me at first. Anyways, this takes place right after the Lost Eden ending. I will admit I haven’t played Lost Eden or has seen the translations yet (I like playing the games as I do) but I do know that in in some endings the Sakamakis (and Mukamis???? I think??? Not sure) inherit daddy ketchup’s power. (I think it’s all of them that do in their endings but correct me if I’m wrong). 

So we know that Laito doesn’t like violence from him saying it multiple times in past games, drama cds, etc. He also mentioned in Haunted Dark Bridal that he doesn’t like family politics and has no interest in having the throne/Karl’s power. So, safe to assume from the start he doesn’t like having this power. And oh boy he is NOT having it. 

In my notes of the first track I made a quip of that Laito’s been kind of a “wannabe romantic.” I know that’s not the best way to describe it, but he’s like “human girls like this right?” or “this is what you do in a relationship, right?” (And he either puts his own twist on it or it ends up being More Blood’s vampire ending). So in this he holds your hand, no tricks, no nothing. I know this is a result of Rejet’s writing change after HDB, but also I think it’s some development on Laito’s end too (either way, it’s cute as hell). I honestly took this as him trying to distract himself from the power he now has; one that he never wanted in the first place. And we know Laito: master of distracting himself from his own issues and other people. 

Laito: “Fufu…You’re shaking~ In that case, should we just dive down from here while I hold you in my arms? …We’ll reach the ground in no time, but it might be reaaaaaally scary.”

Laito: “I’m not going to jump down. After all, I’ve decided I won’t use these powers no matter what.”

Although it takes some deeper knowledge of Laito, he definitely is using the ol “making fun of things I’m insecure about = coping mechanism” plenty of people like to do. He’s teasing himself; making a little quip of it and then kinda turning serious, yet still remaining his “~playful Laito façade~” self. In my notes I say that I’m glad Rejet stuck by with Laito’s whole “I have no interest in these powers” kinda thing. I also think that it scares him, on top of the fact that he just doesn’t give a shit. Or him having the “I don’t give a shit” attitude is a cover up for that fear? We’re gonna go deeper into that, my fellow sinners. 

Before I get into that, I just wanted to point out yet another quote that follows the ones that I put. 

Laito: “Don’t look so puzzled. This is the human world, isn’t it? It would be odd. There’s no hidden meaning behind it. That’s all.”

I liked my note in response to this quote: “H A H don’t be so DAFT, Laito, you’re the KING of double meanings. I know this is a liiiieeeeee” and man, I gotta agree with my cryptid self. He’s using the fact that it’s the human world as an excuse for him to not use his powers. Which…. Is a valid excuse. But this is also Laito we’re talking about. And he just sucked your blood in public. And moaned. I can see right through you man. Laito without double meanings is just…. He can’t exist. There’s no way. Sure he’s developed but if he’s still sticking with his façade from time to time, it’s a safe assumption; deductively. 

As for Laito fearing his powers, it really starts to prove itself by Track 02. Shin finds him, attacks him with wolves, and Laito STILL doesn’t use his powers, even in self defense. For a man that has 0 self restraint typically,,,,,, he really can restrain himself for the most specific things. This further supports my claim that Laito’s scared of himself with these powers. He’s also just really dedicated to his morals, whether they’re falsified morals he created himself in self defense, or ones that go deep to his core (oh shit, another analysis idea???). 

Then… Laito got angry, and attacked Shin in the process (this happens in track 04. Shin steals Yui in track 03). Again, I know I just said he’s pretty dedicated to his morals. But it’s an oddly human thing to do; breaking your morals once in a while to achieve something. We’ve all done it at least once in our lives. Then Laito beats himself up over letting his angry emotions get to him. And we get such a moving scene.

Laito: “Ah…Fuck…! Why…! Why!? Why did I let myself fall for such an easy taunt!? …Bitch-chan? I’m weird, right now, aren’t I? Because of that guy’s powers…Aren’t I going crazy?”

Laito: “…!? I…I’ve been composed this whole time. Yet…Why do you tell me such a thing!? Just as I thought…You also think that I’m becoming weird! If not, you wouldn’t look at me with those eyes!”

Laito: “Don’t touch me…!! If you touch me…You’ll be corrupted as well.”

Laito: “Fufufu…Ahaha…! I’m not corrupted? No, haven’t you experienced it first-hand? That man’s sullied blood and powers are flowing through this body of mine. Even though I don’t need them…! Even though I never wished for them…! Why…!? Why did I have to get these things forced upon me!? Fuck!”

I know that Japanese doesn’t technically have swear words like we do. He says 「くそ」 (“kuso”) which is an interjection that describes something that’s outrageous. Which is why it gets translated into “damn!” “Shit!” “Fuck!” Based on the context and aggressiveness. But, Laito rarely ever says 「くそ」, and he said it a LOT in this CD. And that’s what really caught me off guard. 

So, SO much is said in those quotes I cannot even begin to fathom. So let’s break it down. 

Firstly, as I mentioned, He’s beating himself up (as well as gaslighting himself(?) Is that possible?) over breaking his own morals and not wanting to have these powers in the first place. And he uses Karl as a scapegoat, as he (and the other brothers) have a habit of doing. Also, he refers to his powers as “that guy’s powers.” He hasn’t even accepted that they’re his, and that’s also what’s really sad.

Then the second line. “I’ve been composed this whole time.” Well we, as Laito fans, know that what we usually see Laito is a façade. But this, right now, is raw Laito, baby. He then kinda gets a paranoia of some sort, trying to read your eyes (which is most likely sympathetic, not thinking he’s weird) in order to blame it on someone, or continuing to gaslight himself. And the third line… Wow that hit hard for me in the feels. You know how Laito usually says he wants to corrupt you? Steal your innocence? (Again, projection, from what Cordelia made him feel). This also further supports the notion that Laito doesn’t think that highly of himself (well, people who have some type of superiority complex do. And he definitely does, sometimes on Ayato levels) and also the fact that he still keeps that façade up. Probably to protect these inner feelings. Again, his statement about his composure says as much. 

It’s then implied that Yui tries to comfort him, saying that he’s not corrupted. He continues to not listen to her and kinda say his bottled up feelings. God that last quote, and the way he says it,,,, ugh god it’s so heartbreaking. As we previously knew, he didn’t want these powers at all. He never wanted to be in any part of Karlheinz’s games. He just wanted to live the way he wants to (even if it is,,,, an unhealthy mindset to live in). He says it in such a fearful and tragic way. Again, he’s afraid of himself with these powers. He’s trying to build back up his facade or adjust it in any way that he can to avoid it, but right now, it’s too much for him. 

Laito: “Bitch-chan, you see. As long as she has someone to make her feel good, she will make do with anyone. …Power does not matter. That’s what being a ‘Bitch-chan’ is all about, isn’t it?”

Shin: “Che! You’re just spouting random crap! You won’t deceive me.”

Laito: “Heh…There, there…Don’t glare at me like that..We’ve come all the way up here…It would be foolish to waste our time talking about power dynamics. Let’s enjoy ourselves…I don’t care about complicated stuff. To me, this is everything.”

I actually said something coherent enough in my 2 am notes in response to this to pretty much put it in here verbatim: 

Damn, this boy really just wants to vibe and avoid responsibility (I mean, don’t we all Laito) but he just has to face it. I kinda realize through this drama cd that Laito just… doesn’t wanna face complexity too. He doesn’t, never has. Violence is too complicated, getting involved with Cordelia and Ayato’s relationship by standing up for Ayato as a kid is too complicated, getting on Cordelia’s “good side” (which is uh,,,, awful) is too complicated. 

Putting up that whole perverted façade in order to hide from his own feelings; holy shit idk how I didn’t notice this blatantly before. I didn’t know it would take Shin to make me realize this. Laito never asked for any of this happening to him (none of the boys really did; at least for their pasts). Goddamn, when I try to look at the overly complex stuff, I miss the simple shit so easily. People in real life try to escape like this––using sex and pleasure––just like Laito. 

(Can’t believe I said that at 2 am omg) But, to add onto that, the whole “That’s what being a ‘Bitch-chan’ is all about, isn’t it?” Has SO much meaning to it. First of all, it’s a question. Which raises uncertainty about a subject. This subject is what being a ‘Bitch-chan’ is. It’s phrased in a desperate way that this is Laito’s way to ask you to help. And that’s huge. Also, I think it’s Laito’s way of saying to not judge him right now, and to still accept him for who he is. If he really thought that Yui was that “loose” of a woman with no standards, he wouldn’t have cared to say this, or implied his purpose: which is wanting to make Yui feel good. Which, I think in Laito terms, means “wanting to make Yui happy.” And he wants to continue to be there with her through this double meaning. And wow. That’s,,,,pretty poetic.

Last note; I know that Shin even said or implied (I’m too lazy to go back to the direct quote) that he was like “bruh get over yourself, these are your powers now, get used to it” (which set Laito off I believe). And going in, I didn’t think I’d get much out of this duo in terms of development, but WOW, there’s a chock full of stuff.

Angela saved the day when she planned out an impromptu dinner + arcade date for me, and that was the only good part of the day, really. I’d rather forget the rest of it.

They essentially reminded and affirmed me that I’m stronger than I think I am, and that I’ve been through a lot and have grown a lot, and that that growth is seen by people around me.

Have you been diagnosed with any mental disorders?  No.

Have you ever moved to another state or country? If so, how did it feel to be new?  Just to different cities, but considering how tiny my country is, the move is quite insignificant lol.

IDEALLY, we’d probably pick up a photocard or two if the ones we want aren’t sold out yet (lol a rarity), then we’d have some nachos and stuff right after and just talk about all things Bangtan lol with Hans cracking us up the whole time since he is just naturally hilarious.

If I were to ask you how you are doing, and you were only able to answer completely honestly, what would come out?  Content. Happy. I feel warm and loved and surrounded by the best people.

Would it have REALLY made any difference?  A part of me wishes my final face-to-face conversation with Gabie had been a more solid closure, just so we could finally put a hard stop to that chapter. But at that time I thought we would continue talking, so there had still been some stuff lingering in the air when we called it a day and parted ways. So in a sense we never really got closure when I finally cut ties, which the ESTJ in me remains to be nagged by, but I try not to be bothered by it anymore considering how much better I am doing right now. We didn’t know the future at the time, so it’s okay the way things turned out, ultimately.

Quick first thoughts on the first ep of the Hypmic Anime. Spoilers beware (and im writing this as I watch so :p)

Otome’s speech is.... questionable from a persuasive point of view. Manga did a great job of introducing her (which you can read here) but they really cut out the more terrifying parts of her speech and how she uses force to show people that she's not to be messed with

Its cool seeing everyone in their respective environments though. thats cool. Though they could have added Sasara and Kuuko (shhh i know why they didn’t let me dream)

I love how poppy the typography is. Its amazing how the visuals just leap out at you. The OP does a great job of this. The first few seconds before the title really gives me Persona 4 OG OP vibes with the influx of information given. The rest is a clear concise and streamlined way that still gives character. Animation is sparse but still carries across a general idea of each character and shows off each character object. Rendering is really nice and pays a bit of homage to the posing artwork thats done for the MVs. They also do their division hand signals and thats cute

Love how the OP has blatant HifuDoppo and DRB matchup foreshadowing

so far I really like what theyre going for. BB is about brotherly familial bonds and they show the goods and the bads. Jiro and Saburo bickering right out the gate really cements the fact that they get along like cats and dogs but you can still see that they love each other, working together when the situation calls for it

Now the 3d models. Theyre... not great but usable if you don’t look too hard. They serve their purpose and don’t actively detract from the viewing experience.

Visual typography in the rap itself are fun and poppy but they dont.... speak to me? like theyre there yes and I appreciate them but the only ones that got me excited were from Ichiro’s rap

I love how they interpret the Hypnosis Speakers though. Esp. Saburo’s organs. That was super creative and I love it! If there was one thing that I felt was missing from the franchise was a deeper exploration of the speakers but the anime puts a new and fresh spin on it! Love it, especially with their attack patterns!

If the production team ever feels inclined to, Id love to see those info sheets on Otome’s desk released. There seems to be very interesting info and stats written out about each member (like capabilities, personal status etc.) They all seem unique too so I really really really hope they release images of those sheets

OOOOOOOOKAY MTC. I have such a big biased for them so Im very torn to see what unfolds

Rio striking out on his own is interesting. Out of everyone in MTC hes the biggest team player yet here he trusts his teammates to go ahead. This either displays Rio’s willingness to trust his teammates or it becomes very OOC if the anime wants to set him up as a lone wolf like character

I love how they specify its a drug deal. It means that Jyuto surely will show up and it also shows that Samatoki knows Jyuto’s motives and willingly gives black market info that he knows aligns with Jyuto’s goal. Thats A+ detail writing there and a great establishing characteristic for both of them

OOohhhhhhhhhhhhh man Asunama-san’s voice acting is god tier his work as Samatoki is phenomenal. He pulls of Samatoki’s threatening voice so well with those almost calm words before his voice becomes loud and confrontational. Those rolling syllables in contrast to Komada-san’s almost lyrical and airy speech and Kamio-san’s strict and enunciated words is such a delight to hear. It just speaks to how amazing and great these Seiyuu’s are in order to pull of such amazing work

Im so biased but MTC has such a better rap than BB im so sorry. Just by watching Samatoki’s part, the imagery is amazing. Even the arrival of his Hypnosis Speaker was awesome and sent a shiver down my spine. using the lyrics to form blades and blood was such a great thing to do. Theres so much more variety that just him standing there and shots of his hypnosis speaker. The old fashioned vignette shots, the four panel spread, the nods to old Kurosawa era films are great and I love these small details. Even the typography looks better.

Again, the interpretations with the speakers is fresh and new. Its great and I love the different imagery and attack patterns. Each one is so unique but carries across each different style of rap.

The 3d modles aren’t any better tho lol

(Hi this is Astro who is reading over their assessment again and making a note. Yeah I’m a bit harsh on BB’s rap. I’m not going to change it since I still stand by it and this post is supposed to be a documentation of my first impressions. I think one of the reasons why I’m so harsh on BB is because of their dynamic as a trio of brothers. They Have to have a more uniform approach than the other divisions. Which in of itself isn’t a terrible thing, it just doesn’t catch my eye as much as MTC did. Thats all! I definitely don’t hate BB, they’re maybe my 3rd favorite division out of the current lineup [not including TDD era teams like Kujaku Posse, MCD, and Naughty Busters] its just that their rap was pretty meh)

Samatoki crouching like a real gangstar and the cigarette kiss killed me

sadjkhfjkasdghsadjkcsdjhsdfsjhf im dying i love these trio of dumbasses so uch oh y fod someone save me aaaaaaaa (Astro note here! yeah i died when the jyuto and samatoki’s stomach growled im weak please. Samatoki’s face is just so precious and funny I might set it as a profile pic somewhere)

But also my initial assessment of Rio possibly being characterized as a lone wolf is very much jossed and im very thankful for that. It seems that Rio was simply trusting his teammates to carry out their part of the plan while he carried out his own. I like that, it really shows how much of a team these three are and that they genuinely trust each other. He’s also comfortable enough around them to invite them to dinners after work casually and not just for special occasions.

Oooh! we get Ramuda on his design process which is really cute. the inside of his studio is super cute and retro and i love it. the poppy old music you would hear in a cafe or 90′s resturaunt is also really cute (astro note: yeah i know that in ARB you see the interior of Ramuda’s office but its kinda different seeing it animated)

the translation i have has gentaro speaking in early modern english (Shakespearian english for those who aren’t english nerds like me) but from what I can hear, he doesn’t speak in a particularly old fashioned way? Its more formal than old? and hes speaking without any of his character persona lying thing that he likes to do (as he refers to himself as “Shousei” throughout the segment where hes in Ramuda’s office which is kind of his default pronoun of choice). so its kinda odd for the translation to go in that direction but im not complaining

Gendice banter is gold but it feels... flat? a little? it doesn’t have the same impact as in the drama cds or in the manga? i feel? Also Ramuda using gratuitous english is??? idk how to feel about that

kjshf thats against the rules Ramuda omgggg,,,,,,,, (astro note again: while watching i was under the assumption that using your hypmic for monetary gain such a as buskering [which is what FP is doing] is against the rules. May not be the case but whatever)

FP’s rap might be my favorite in terms of tune and lyrics though. It’s a nice laid back bop and really gives of chill vibes. the integration of 3d and 2d is really nice and i love how they play off each other in the rap. The wordplay is so fun with little nods here and there and the beat is poppy too so it really energizes me.

Ramuda’s rap concerns me slightly since he makes very subtle and small nods towards his past (being created in a laboratory, warfare, and his overall very unpleasant life experiences) but spins it into something cutesy. It could be a coping mechanism, it could be me overthinking it. But it does make me worry a bit. Gentaro and Dice’s rap really play off each other with Gentaro sticking to stories and Dice taking up the baton by carrying on that same imagery but putting his own spin on it.

the self awareness of how scattered they are as a team is interesting though. It doesn’t seem like something you’d speak about in a rap? but i guess since its not really a do or die situation they can afford to be looser on things like this.

Right off the bat, i don’t like how they handled Hifumi and Doppo in relation to Hifumi’s fear of women. Slug made a post once talking about this and I echo many of his sentiments. Hypmic has never been very tactful about tackling this particular issue and while I didn’t have high hopes that the anime would be any better it hurts to see Doppo take away the one thing that allows Hifumi to function within society.

Doppo’s breakdown mirrors a lot of my own mental state when I spiral though its shown a lot quicker than what happens to me oof. that hits close to home. though Jakurai’s advice is. Questionable. Its not the best advice to give to someone but we have no idea what kind of doctor Jakurai is so ill let it slide

Jakurai’s pose looks like hes going to do a mahou shoujou transformation lmao

I don’t have many thoughts about the rap though again. How they visualize the rap is interesting. the different imagery is quite interesting for each of them and the typography is nice a distinct but im still on the fence about the visuals here

The sound is in the same boat. The sound effects either drown out the rap or are too quet but some parts are nice at least. When they talk about Tokyo’s beating heart, the heartbeat sound is a but distracting especially since its only played once. But the imagery is at least nice

I wonder if for the eds they’re going to take a similar approach to what Enstars did and have a four different endings, one for each division. I love the blend of styles here and it really accentuates that although they’re different they mesh well together.

Ramuda’s silhouette though is hilarious. Love it.

:p and thats it. Uh not bad for a first episode. Established all 12 characters really nicely and their dynamics. I had some problems with it but then again nothing is perfect. I look forward to what they show us next week

I’m pleasantly surprised at how this turned out! I was actually not as hyped for this as the first installment because of the plot. I thought that Amagasa-senpai was going to be a Do-S type who’d torture Yukiya, but man, he turned out to be quite cute in the end. This doesn’t mean that I was fully sold on the plot because it really was evident that they were following a set format which was like the first CD. One of them would have loved the other since years back, but they were afraid of the other party finding out about their feelings, so they keep their feelings hidden until after they sleep together in the rabuho. In the case of Nao and Shunsuke, it was the childhood friend route, while Shou and Yukiya went the senpai-kouhai route. I personally think that Nao and Shunsuke’s was more solid of a plot than this one, but I liked this one better???!!!

How the heck did he do that 360?! I’m stressin’ because I don’t think that 360 wouldn’t have been translated well if it weren’t for Itou Kento??? If you’ve been reading my reviews (man, idk what to tell you if you have), then you’d know that I don’t particularly view Itou Kento as notable. He’s had stints as both a top and bottom, but I think he did decently better as an uke because his seme roles honestly have never done it for me. I was really worried about this pairing because I had thought that Yamanaka Masahiro could swallow him whole. Also, I’m sorry to say this, but I cannot discern Itou Kento, Yamashita Seiichirou, Shirai Yuusuke, Taku Yashiro, Nakajima Yoshiki, Nogami Shou, and Kobayashi Yuusuke from each other. WELL, THIS TIME ITOU KENTO DEFINITELY PROVED HIMSELF TO BE DIFFERENT FROM THE REST! Heck, Itou Kento’s Yuki doesn’t sound like anyone I’ve heard before. It’s goddamn unique! I’ll be taking him away from the uke quarters and putting him here in the seme quarters where he belongs now! Seriously, his acting here was on par on Okitsu’s! I also loved his and Yamanaka Masahiro’s chemistry because yo, it sounded like they were having legit sex with each other in the studio! Were they recording at the same time???!!! #BLESS The mattress mambos were 🔥 🔥🔥. Itou Kento made me squeal, ladies and gentlemen! I’m so looking forward to hearing more from him, and I hope he maximizes on this tone of his.

As for Yamanaka Masahiro who I haven’t heard since Father Fucker, HELLO, HELLO. I SEE YOU, SIR. He was probably pissed about me running my mouth on how bomb ass Queen of Beasts Satou Takuya and Queen of Queens Saitou Souma were that he just had to make his presence known. BITCH, QUEEN PROSTITUTE YAMANAKA MASAHIRO HAS ARRIVEDDDDDDD!!! The Trio Slut Queens is complete! 😌 Yamanaka Masahiro was doing the most in their mattress mambos! #BLESS It was enough to make Saitou Souma’s Hikaru in Me wo Tojite go on a run for his money! I think that Yamanaka Masahiro’s slutty Shou is 2019′s best, but we shall see if Saitou Souma’s Misumi and Okitsu’s Ise can say anything about that! 

As with the first installment, we have great plot and execution, stellar voice work and chemistry, and decent pacing. Plot-wise, 101 definitely takes the cake, but everything else is 202′s! I’m sorry, Okitsu, but this is my favorite of the two! LoveHo is the clear winner between Kimi to Boku to Sekai and Tada no Classmate. Also, looks like the Second Installment is the Best trend is still in effect, I see. 👏👏👏 Man, I’m desperately hoping for a 303! I super recommend listening to both series! More like, please do!

I didn’t know where to post this tbh, so I decided to make this blog and post it here haha~ My Japanese is only around intermediate level, and this is the first thing I’ve attempted to translate like this, so things will sound kind of awkward but I promise I tried my best ;A; If you have the magazine too and see translation errors please let me know! There’s bound to be at least some D; But hopefully nothing too inaccurate sob 

This is actually more of a “Part 2″ because this interview was split into the April and May issues, and for now I only have the May issue, so the questions start at 161 and go to 250. I ordered the April magazine as well, so hopefully that’ll come in the mail soon and I’ll be able to translate the first half and post “Part 1” eventually ;; This half of the interview is about private and love related topics~ It’s also extremely long, so get ready to learn a lot of useless but useful information lol

“Sweats. In the winter I definitely wear socks. In the summer it’s a t-shirt and shorts. I have to wear something, so I don't sleep naked. Also in the summer sometimes I’ll put on socks, but when I wake up it seems they’ve come off lol."

“Since many years ago, it’s been pitch black. Before, if it wasn’t a little bright, I wouldn’t be able to sleep, but when I have to stay at hotels for work, there were times I couldn’t sleep because of the subtle brightness. If that’s the case then I prefer it to be pitch black."

TRACK 1:

The CD starts off with Carla monologuing about Endzeit, the disease that killed so many founders. He got it while he was killing his dad, etc etc etc read his wiki page

Shin walks up to Carla and asks what they’re gonna do. Carla remarks that the times have changed, and Shin agrees. Karl Heinz is gone, and his power has been passed on to one of his sons. Carla asks why Karl Heinz chose to disappear, and says that if Karl Heinz wished, he could keep on living forever. Shin’s like, “So you think he wished to disappear?” and Carla says that it must be so. There must be a reason.

Suddenly changing the subject, Carla asks Shin where that woman is. Shin says she’s back in the human world, in the Sakamaki mansion. Carla’s like “Okay. Go get her.” Shin’s all :0 and Carla’s like “...what.” Shin says that Nii-san decides everything on his own without explanation, and he wonders if he’s planning something. Carla’s like “Of course.” and Shin says “I knew it! Then, I’m going to the human world for a bit!” And he heads off, feelin pretty damn good. But before he leaves Carla stops him and tells him to be careful because he senses something stirring. Shin’s like yeah whatever lol, and he’s off on his way.

So Shin’s in the human world now. You hear him whistle, followed by a bunch of wolves howling. (It’s cute.) Shin monologues - I could have heard this part wrong, but it sounded like he was saying that it was important to him that he lift some of the weight off of Nii-san. He says that to them, Yui is a very important girl. But recently, Nii-san stopped seeking out that girl. Shin had worried that he has given up on the future of the Founders. But, since Carla gave him an order to go get Yui, it seems like he was mistaken! Yay!

As Shin runs with the wolves, he exclaims how he’s getting excited!! He’s finally getting another chance, it’s like a dream! (so so cute) Shin monologues again - At that time he was thinking that he just wanted to run wild. He didn’t care about expectations or fate, or anything like that. He thought that going to go get Yui would be a piece of cake.

TRACK 2:

Shin’s running and panting and saying that Nii-san’s definitely gonna be mad. He explains that he made it to the human world and to the Sakamaki house, but the Sakamaki house was pretty much, um, a huge pile of rubble. (If you listened to the Sakamaki Lost Eden CD, you know that Ayato basically blasted the house down in a fit of rage, whoops) Shin is thinking that this must’ve been what Nii-san was so worried about. Shin and his familiars searched the place, and they found traces of vampires, but also some other kind of power.

Shin makes a bunch of adorable little sniffing sounds, and catches a scent that shocks him. It’s not a wolf, eagle (Adora? idk), or vibora. Could it be...a ghoul?? Shin says there’s no doubt about that strange smell. It’s a ghoul. But why was one appearing now? Why was a ghoul in the human world...?

So Shin finds Yui, puts her on his wolfy back, and runs on back to the demon world. He comments that she’s awake and tells here where she is. He proudly tells her that she was saved by the great Tsukinami Shin. He says it’s better for her not to talk - He’s sure that she has lots of stuff she wants to hear and say, but she better talk to Nii-san. “I’m speeding up, so hang on!!” and more little wolf paw sounds

Carla, who was just chillin by himself, was like “Shin’s back.” Shin lets himself in and Carla says he’s late, and Shin’s like, “I thought you’d say that, but I brought her!” Carla’s like “Before that, explain what made you take so long.” and Shin’s like “Okay, okay, I get it. But before that-” and he pours some water cuz the poor guy just spent all that time running lol. While pouring the water, he suddenly freezes up when he notices that he’s bleeding. Yui asks him if something’s wrong, and Shin’s like “Ah? N...No...It’s nothing. You should drink too.” and he pours her some water. He fuckin chugs it, and Carla (who thinks he’s just stalling) is like “Shin-” and Shin’s like yeah yeah, gimme a break, I’m exhausted. Carla tells him not to act spoiled :/ So Shin gets to explainin’.

Carla’s like “...ghouls, you say” and Shin’s like “Yep! Ghouls! I was surprised too” and Carla turns to Yui and tells her to explain herself. Shin wants to know too. Yui explains that she had met Karl Heinz’s illegitimate child, who had been laying low in the demon world. Carla says that he still can’t understand that man...that man meaning Karl Heinz.

Shin suddenly asks Carla how his condition is. Carla’s like “My condition?” and Shin fumbles with his words a bunch before being like “no, actually, never mind.” Carla calls him strange and walks away. Shin then apologizes to Yui and asks her wait there for a while. When she asks where he’s going, he’s like “Nothing, just some minor business. Stay there.” and he walks away too.

Once Shin is out of earshot, he RUNS to the bathroom, turns on the water, and desperately tries to wash the blood out. He’s talking to himself in a panicked voice: He didn’t expect to see all that blood when he was pouring the water. “This blood, as I thought.........No, that’s stupid...It’s probably nothing.”

TRACK 3:

Shin shows Yui to her room, says she can ask the familiars if she needs anything, and asks if there’s anything else she wants to ask. Shin tries to leave for his own room, but Yui grabs him. I guess Yui asks why she was taken there, because Shin’s like ���How should I know? Nii-san told me to bring you here so I did.” Shin gets sorta touchy, Yui tells him to stop, Shin asks teasingly if she’ll let the ghouls do whatever they want but she doesn’t like a First Blood touching her. Calls her annoying, says he only needs her body, etc etc you know the drill. He’s like “I’m sure the taste of your blood is so bad” and he tosses her on the bed, and he gives her the succ. The whole time he’s sucking her blood he can’t stop complaining about how gross it is. It’s an awful taste. It’s the worst. No matter where you drink it from, it’s terrible. ...But he keeps drinking it, lol.

Eventually he stops and he’s like “whatever, I’m done, that gave me a terrible feeling and I’m tired” so he leaves her alone for now. He tells her she should do something about the taste of her blood before Nii-san drinks from her. (What do you expect her to do omg) Then he leaves. After closing the door, he thinks to himself that (I think) while the taste of her blood was horrible, he’s anxious that he’ll be separated from her quickly. Shin thinks that he’s got Endzeit.

Carla tosses and turns for a while, then mutters that he can’t sleep. His chest feels heavy. I can’t translate this part very well, and this might be FULL of mistakes, but...Carla’s dying. The Shinigami are coming to reap his soul, so he’s reflecting a bit. There’s nothing he especially regrets about his life. It’s just that...he regrets not being able to save the Founders. And he regrets all the missing all those opportunities that came his way. Just those two things. “I can’t...disappear...yet.” Luckily, in that place (the demon world I assume) his health has been a bit better. So Carla thinks he should just stay there, and not move around too much. The Endzeit never left his body. But he’s thankful for the time he’s had, even if it was short. (Carla nooo...rip)

Shin knocks on the door, and asks if Carla’s still awake. He lets himself in. He says he has something to ask Nii-san. “...Don’t make such a sullen face. I’ll leave as soon as I ask. It’s about Endzeit...” He asks about how Carla got the disease. Carla matter-of-factly responds, “When I killed our father.” and Shin’s like D:

So he keeps asking his questions, a little nervously: Endzeit is a disease that spreads through the blood, right? Carla kinda grumbles at him, and Shin hastily makes the excuse that since that girl might have Founder blood, there’s a possibility she’s infected. Carla’s like “Are you thinking that I infected her with the disease?” and Shin’s like “Of course I wasn’t thinking that!!” But he was thinking that it would be bad if someone else were to get infected...”I’m sorry. I’ll leave now. Goodnight.” and Shin’s out.

Carla had been working hard to hide his sickness, so he wonders why Shin suddenly realized it now...

TRACK 4:

So Carla talks to Yui. He says that Shin is acting strange, and he wants to know if she knows anything about it. Yui heard Shin suddenly talking about Endzeit, and she’s worried. Carla talks a little bit about their past: “We had our mother, but I killed his beloved father with my own hands.” (ok carla when u put it that way it makes u seem like. a huge jerk) And (I’m a little unsure of this part to) Carla thinks that right now Shin is just waiting for his opportunity to kill Carla too. Carla tells Yui RIGHT in her ear (and I mean DIRECTLY into my right headphone holy shit) to close her lips, then says he’s gonna punish her with lots of pain. He bites her and sucks her blood, and he’s not exactly satisfied with the taste either lol. Then mid-sentence he starts coughing uncontrollably, tells Yui not to touch him, and tries to regulate his breathing. 

When he recovers, he looks to Yui and goes “...You understand, don’t you.” He won’t be here for much longer. Carla says that rather than dying to an illness, he would have much rather die by his little brother beheading him. (Aw! That’s kind of sweet in a really morbid way!) He says to Yui that there’s nothing she can do about it - it’s reality. He then tells her very sternly not to mention it to Shin. He absolutely does not want Shin to know about this. If Yui breaks that promise, Carla will kill her. Then he leaves her there.

TRACK 5:

Shin can’t sleep either. He’s sure now that he’s got Endzeit. While he’s lying there are stressing about how he’s scared to die, he hears the flapping of an eagle’s wings - it’s the Adora clan, or however you spell that. They’re eagles, idk. He goes to report it to Shin. Somehow a bunch of demons figured out that Yui was here, and they all wanna get their hands/paws/wings on her. He hands Carla a letter from the head of the eagle clan, and Carla’s like “fuck it” and he burns the letter immediately. Shin’s like “uhh? is this gonna be okay?” and Carla basically says “dude whatever, we’re founders” and Shin’s like “yeah...the last two.”

Shin does the “tch” thing and Carla asks him what’s wrong. Shin demands to know why Nii-san told him to bring the girl here in the first place. When Carla doesn’t answer, Shin goes “To save the Founders?” and Carla says yes. Shin says that they should’ve done it sooner then. Carla asks him what he wants to say, and Shin says he’s been thinking a lot. Carla’s like “Don’t tell me...You want me to use that girl as a hostage” and Shin’s like “If you don’t then what use does she have?”

Carla confirms that she does have a use. I didn’t follow this too well, but Carla believes that Karl Heinz planned all of this out - including Karl Heinz’s own death - in order to create chaos. Karl Heinz always put Yui at the center of his plans, so Carla believes that Yui is the key to understanding Karl Heinz’s motives. Everything is planned out.

Shin: So, that’s why Nii-san told me to bring that girl here?! Carla: You seem dissatisfied. Shin: Of course I am! I thought surely, we were going back to the demon world... Carla: I never said anything about going back. Shin: But...We’ve just been folding our hands and waiting!

Shin’s getting heated. He shouts that he doesn’t care about Karl Heinz’s motives anymore, while taking his anger out on some poor wall nearby. Shin thinks it would be better to take that girl and go, purify her again, make her their ally. Carla cuts him off: “Are you going against the king?” Shin suddenly goes quiet. “If so, then so be it.” Shin: “Nii-san, are you trying to pick a fight?” Carla is DEFINITELY trying to pick a fight.

But wait!! Yui suddenly comes rushing in to stop them. Carla and Shin tell her to stay out of it or she’ll get hurt. She rushes between them to make sure they don’t hurt each other. Shin is like “Whatever, I’ll blast through both of you!!” but...he couldn’t do it. He angrily gives up, says it’s stupid, kicks something else, then says he’s leaving. Carla’s like “where are you going” and Shin’s like “I’m gonna handle things myself

He says with a short laugh that maybe first he’ll go get his eye back from the Vibora. Shin tells Carla that he sure is carefree for a guy with a disease, and that he could never do that. Carla says he understands, and agrees to take Shin back home on one condition (and Shin is so surprised). But he won’t take Yui as a hostage. At first Shin doesn’t believe that they can win in that case, but Carla affirms that they can. He says they will fight understanding that they might lose. He asks Shin if he has that kind of resolve. Shin says that yes, he does.

And so they go!! Carla tells Yui that she’ll be house-sitting while they’re gone, lol. And as he walks away, he says that he’ll definitely return home...sob. Shin thinks to himself that Carla planned from the very beginning to do it this way. He thinks that his brother picked a fight with him on purpose, and he doesn’t understand it. But he doesn’t care anymore, and he’s off to join his brother. He tells Yui that she better stay there quietly or he and his brother will be SUPER pissed when they come back. “Be a good girl and wait.” (if it were me then I would totally go through his stuff while he’s gone)

Carla and Shin are preparing for...the final fight!! (whatever that means) and Shin is READY TO FUCKING GO he’s so excited. He wolfwhistles to call the doggos over again and they head on their way.

Carla and Shin both monologue about how they’re both...fucking dying. But both of them are just excited to get out there and have that last moment of glory. Shin comments out loud that this reminds him of “that night.” Carla agrees and THIS GODFORSAKEN CD IS OVER please pray for them

Review Proper

I haven’t really been up to date with all the drama cd releases for 2017, so you should imagine my surprise to find that this has been adapted into one! (add that to the fact that it was released on my mother’s birthday 😂) 

Let me talk about the manga a little before delving into my review for the CD. I’ve actually read the raws for this way back when a scan team picked this up and translated the first few chapters but unfortunately left it hanging for a while. I LOVED THE CHARACTERS OMG. Jun is literally the level of loose I aspire to be! And omg - AKI!!! AKKKEEEEHHHHH!!! If I was a straight man, and I walked in on Aki doing that, then best believe this motherfucker’s gon’ bend ova. I really can’t blame Jun for wanting to be boned ‘cause bitch, me fucking too. 😌

But Idk. I think I remember being disappointed by the lack of development in the following chapters, but I couldn’t trust my reading skills, so it’s good that this came out with a cd ‘cause my perception on it might just change - and it DID! I guess some things are really better expressed vocally. 

Man, big applause to Shingaki Tarusuke and Nakazawa Masatomo’s performances. First, I’ll tackle Nakazawa here. Masa’s been around a while in the cd realm for a good few years, and I deem him as part of 2017′s hard-working trio: Nakazawa Masatomo, Furukawa Makoto, and Satou Takuya. It’s like whenever there’s a new series esp in r-18 otome CDs, you’ll either have one or two of them included in the cast list. Now, Mako and Taku have a number of BLCDs (and a few together even pls marry each other in real life), but I only have, like, one? of Masa’s. I am familiar with his voice though since his Rouge et Noir’s one of my favorites, but I’m not quite used to him being a bottom - even though he’s done a good job with Nao in Escape Journey. I don’t actually remember how he specifically sounded there, but I do remember being impressed - however, Escape Journey was released way before Rouge et Noir, so again, I didn’t know what to expect. 

Listening to Masa in this one made me realize just why he was chosen in the first place. Nao’s character is quite similar to Jun’s even though Jun is uhh, well more of a slut than Nao will ever be HAHAHA. GODDAMN MASA. If I was in their BLCDverse, I won’t blame Aki for falling for him ‘cause that boy is LITERALLY SEX ON LEGS, and with Masa’s sexay voice, all the more! 

Wait. I’ve just realized how I’m so used to Masa being a top and Shingaki Tarusuke being a bottom. 😂 It’s always so hard to adjust to him being a seme ‘cause y’all know how much I love Yashiro, and I cannot unhear Yashiro every time Shingaki Tarusuke opens his mouth. 😭 Am I the only one who assigns a specific role to a voice actor to carry with them their whole lives? Anyways, Aki. Aki, Aki, Aki. Goddamn. His voice makes me very, very bothered. And like their mangaverse, I can’t blame Jun for switching out and batting for the other team because of Shingaki Tarusuke’s Aki best believe that this bitch will bend over for you too, Yashiro. 

One of my few gripes about the manga was that I felt it was a little too short (and I think it came with side stories - I can’t remember) and I was honestly a little doubtful that they would be able to pull this series seeing that there were more than five tracks. I thought that they were going to stretch things up a bit and add a few ad-libs here and there, but, surprisingly, it stood true to the manga. I’d say that reading the manga while listening to the CD is possible, and I do recommend it for you to get the “full experience”. 😂

I loved the execution, the voice work, the chemistry between the VAs, and how it stood true to the manga. I don’t really enjoy listening to (or even reading) works with little to no drama like I used to when I was younger fuck I’m getting old, but this (the manga and CD) was really interesting because of the characters and the writing style of Hidou Tei this time around. 

I highly recommend this to anyone who’s looking for something fun-fuck-tastic to take them away from their sadomasochistic selves who have nothing else to do but read dramatic shit. 👌
