Dear D&D makers/players/homebrew etc I have a question, I’m hoping someone can answer (or help me figure out a way to make something work, not picky) So in my current game I’m a Palalock (Hexadin? Idk, I’ve got 12 levels in Paladin and 3 in Warlock so idk which fits) who was tasked to help a newly turned vampire to kill his sire so he can retain his own mind and not become a thrall.
It went very bad. Group turned into bunnies by a betrayer as we fought a thousands of years old vampire general bad. Not the point but just so there’s context about how we got here. Well we managed to escape with our lives, albeit zero of our dignity, but in the shuffle, the new vampire’s time to kill his sire ran out and he’s now a thrall. I know this is just me being a stubborn Paladin who doesn’t like to see people lose their free will, but is there anything in either traditional publishing or homebrew that anyone knows about that could break a thrall out? To be VERY clear, I do not mean “can I make this guy not a vampire?” because that’s a no. Him being a vampire was always going to be a thing and I don’t care if he’s still a damn vampire. I’m specifically looking for something that as a Paladin/Warlock thing I can do to give him his mind back. I know there’s Remove Curse, and Protection from Evil and Good, but not sure if there’s just a straight “Remove Influence” or something I could try and pull off? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
