rare: omggg, from the start this is the kind of beat + sound that has me bopping immediately! it’s kind of heard and reminds me of taylor swift, especially when she vocalizes. the background music is so cute, i’m not being very technical here but that’s how i feel! i’m really liking it. i adore how she articulates it feels like before the refrain. fave lyrics: and i bet there’s somebody else out there to tell me i’m rare

vulnerable: the (pre?) chorus is my favourite part here. all in all it sounds very chill and like, a basic bop, background music but not in a bad way?? just maybe not extremely memorable, but then when she goes if i show you all my demons, that elevates the whole song and that’s the part that would drive me to listen to it again, it sounds so dreamy. fave lyrics: wrap your arms around my weakness if the only other option’s letting go

people you know: very hypnotic, both the music and her voice, especially in the chorus. it might not be groundbreaking but it’s like… chill and easy to listen to while doing stuff, jammable, a bit repetitive but it works for the whole concept. not my fave overall, but i love the layering toward the end, when the whole sound gets a bit more complex. fave lyrics: when it was good we were on fire, now i’m breathing ashes and dust

ok so in conclusion, WOW?? tbh i wasn’t expecting this, not that i don’t like selena bc i’ve been obsessed w some of her singles since ‘naturally’ or ‘i love you like a love song’ (good old selena gomez & the scene! not to mention ‘good for you’ like… that shit is hot) but i wasn’t prepared to something this consisently good?? like maybe i won’t listen to it on repeat for months as i do with some albums but i wouldn’t skip any song, not to mention some are true gems (and jams) that will go on my january playlist! thank you (actually, thank both my selena anons!) for having me do this, i probably would have missed this relase otherwise and that would have been a shame bc it’s pretty great

1. Dua Lipa, “Don’t Start Now” - it’s been out for a while, but it’s a big win on the current walk mix (me as the top youtube comment saying we can already hear this in every Zara and H&M across the land, and what about it, it’s a bop!)

2. Louis Tomlinson, “Walls” - help, it’s been about 24 hours, but this song and every single one of its 5+ layers kill my mind, to turn a phrase (my latest wall stare is what it must be like to see Louis chit chat with Noel G, the zingers!)

3. Harry Styles, “She” (She!) - this song is like quicksand, I start thinking about it or listening to it, and I get sucked into a vortex and softly mutter motherFUCKER 15 times, even that guitar frenzyyyyy that bubbles up into a soothing lullaby

4. Princess Superstar + A. Turk, “Supersonic Bitch” - it’s old but gold, and I’ll go to my grave thinking she should have won a grammy for the period song she wrote for Lunette menstrual cups (this one’s grand, too!)

5. Stormzy, “Vossi Bop” - I know, I know, but I’m still obsessed with this album, I drive around letting it pulse me through random traffic situations, and it honest-to-god helps, especially this bop (<---- see what I did there)

6. The Big Moon, “Don’t Think” - god, I love these guys, and this is from their new album that either just came out or is just about to come out, idk, I’m just in love with the kinda country twang of this one? First Aid Kit-ish echo??

8. FKA Twigs, “sad day” - a staple on my focus in and WORK mix, the album in general is so good, but I go back and forth on fave song, and I think it’s this one, judging by my “you’ve heard this 15 times this week” metrics, lmao

Arctic Monkeys, “The Ultracheese” - every single LINE of this song is perfection, the chef’s kiss on the album’s cohesive theme, “What a death I died writing that song, Start to finish, with you looking on, It stays between us, Steinway and his sons, 'Cause it's the ultracheese”...IT SURE IS, I LOVE YOU

(when it comes to mild situations ofc); and this other person said people will go and cancel the ish out of everyone but when they are confronted about it to discuss it like normal people (bc ppl tend to get v agressive and no no, kill with kindness everyone!) they just wont talk to you to reasonate, they’ll either straight up insult you, pull the ‘yeah idc what u say’, ignore you or even block you, which is uhhhhhhhhhhh 🙃  My motto is Don’t let the things you hate define you and it makes so much sense to me bc why would you like to be known as someone who keeps hating and hating on sth without importance? just cut them off your enviroment and that’s it, enough. What a waste of time and energy I swear 😵 And last but not least: lets face it, the current is picky as hell when it comes to calling out someone, that’s how it is unfortunately (and it shouldn’t but ye). Like I know some/most? of the userbase shits on them because “ahaha the tags are being copied when you reblog!” Or.. what else? something about ads probably.

But the things they do; namely the little things they do. Like if I receive an ask, and I long press the notification on my lock screen or in Notification Center, it actually gives me options: Answer, or Delete.

Like there’s just so many little gems here and there, I friggin love it and idk if they’re appreciated enough.
