What I ship in Fairy Tail

To be honest, there aren't many.

I'll rehash some of the ships I support that I've mentioned already in case you haven't seen those posts (which I went more in depth here) as well as give some more! I'll also tell you which ones I don't and why.

These are the main ones I like:

Natsu x Lucy

I've said so in other posts, but I do still like NaLu, though it really needs work, from Natsu being less handsy (though most of it's an accident) and for him to mature some and actually show romantic interest in Lucy. Rn, I'm seeing Lucy having to be the one to carry the ship with her budding feelings, but Natsu is mostly oblivious and treats her basically just like a best friend. Mashima should really, if he wants this ship to sail, do these things for Natsu. I only ship Natsu with Lucy.

Jellal x Erza

I said this in another post, yes, I ship this, I really like the childhood sweethearts dynamic, and I think, at least in the main FT storyline (I'm hearing Jellal acts more like juvia in 100yq and that's just barf), it's very healthy and charming because they both try to do what's best for the other and try to better and help them. I only ship Jellal and Erza with each other and in no other ship.

Gray x Lucy

My FT OTP!! Had a whole post dedicated to my reasons! Linked here. I only ship Gray with Lucy OF FRIGGIN COURSE (#protectgray2k22).

Loke/Leo x Lucy

I love this one! Their little arc together, and their fun moments like in the Loke arc or the Fantasia arc or whenever Lucy summons Leo are so cute! Leo’s such a gentleman to her and protects her well, and she doesn’t make it easy for him when he flirts but is still flustered sometimes, which I love. They’re best friends and partners and definitely have chemistry. I only ship Leo with Lucy of course.

Other Ships?

To be honest, that's basically it for me. I'm not really passionate about other ships in FT. I know I ship Lucy with a lot of people, but it's to be expected from a multi-shipper haha. I'll get into the ones I don't like, the ones I'm indifferent to, and the ones I like, but just don't really care about.

Of the rest of the Big Four, I've already said why I'm not a big fan of Gajevy (but I don't ship either of them with anyone else), and y'all KNOW my stance on gr///via (juvia deserves to stay by herself forever :D).

As for Zervis, I don't like Mavis, (sorry, Mavis lovers, I just find her annoying, especially in Fairy Tail Zero) and Idk what to think about Zeref, mainly because I don't see him often, especially since I didn't finish FT, but from what I saw of him, in Tenrou, Zero, and some in Tartaros, he wasn't particularly likable, but not hate-worthy either.

As for Miraxus, I'm not opposed to it. I didn't see many interactions between them tbh, but I could see it being really cute, the sweet (and yet potentially scary) Mirajane and big, gruff Laxus who (eventually) has a heart of gold.

Stingyu, I'm not the biggest fan of Sting, I like him enough, and I'm not really a fan of Yukino either, not because I don't like her, I just found her pretty boring. I don't mind that ship I guess, I just don't ship it personally.

Now onto ships you didn’t give as an example, Anon:

A dear friend of mine mentioned that their OTP for FT used to be StingLu, which I am totally down for, but I haven’t seen many interactions between them. I could see it being a very cute ship though! They’ve got matching hair too haha.

I could see why people like Laxus x Freid, but Freid acts a bit too fanboy for me to ship them (reminds me of juvia too much), though I really liked his loyalty and respect (along with the rest of the Thunder Legion) to Laxus.

Elfman x Evergreen (lol what's their ship name, Elfgreen? Everman?) is ok, I found it pretty cute how they were at odds and then became fond of each other.

Alzack x Bisca, I mean sure, I ship it, I just don't really care about it. Very cute couple, but they’re just background characters haha.

Lyon x juvia, yeaaaah like I said, juvia shouldn’t be inflicted on anybody, so I’d never do Lyon dirty like that.

Ren x Sherry, I don’t really like this ship. A fun fact (not really) about me is that I don’t like it when people who love someone in a show or whatever move on from that love interest to a new one. It just makes it seem so disingenuous to me, like the love was never real. I know irl, this happens a lot, and it doesn’t really discredit their past feelings to move on, but this is a personal preference of mine for fiction. So, I don’t like how Sherry moves on from Lyon to Ren.

Sherria x Wendy, nah don’t like this, I personally don’t like the idea of shipping a 12 and 15 year old together because they’re both really young. I guess it’s fine if you do, since there’s not a big age gap, but nah I’m good.

Happy x Carla, eh, don’t really like this ship, but it’s not too bad I guess. He’s kinda too pushy, and she’s kinda too mean, but overtime they warm up to each other more, like over the Edolas arc for example, so it’s not the worst.

I've already said in other posts that I don't ship Gratsu, and I definitely don't ship NaLi; I just find Lisanna a tad too annoying, and her kid self was waaay too pushy.

Reminder: basically, any ship that involves Natsu, Gray, Lucy, Jellal, and Erza besides the ones I've mentioned is a no-go for me. When I multi-ship one character from a particular anime, I don't multiship for any other character in that anime except for my favorite, so any ships you see listed are the only people I would ship them with.

I don’t really remember other extremely popular ships at this moment, but if anyone thinks of them and mentions them, I’ll give my thoughts!

Closing Notes

I know I don't have many ships, especially outside my multi-ship of Lucy, but really, if you look at other animes that I watch, my multi-shipping habit is even more outta control, so Fairy Tail actually has a bit of variety for me haha. Fav characters

1. Erza Scarlet

Most badass woman of this anime. One of the best female characters I've seen.

Strong, independent, resolute. I love her.

I will never forget when she fought against the 100 monsters in the GMG arc. I think it's one of my favourites moments of the entire series. In fact, I watched it two days ago. 😂

2. Gray Fullbuster

Such a complex character. Gray is the definition of why I love the rival one.

He always wants to protect his nakamas, he's even willing to die to save the ones he loves.

He's so kind and full of love, but he's scared because he doesn't want to loose anyone more. Also his backstory is beautiful and heartbreaking, it's my favourite of all ft characters.

3. Gajeel Redfox

I love this man. He's one of the best representations of bad guy turns good guy because of love.

Gajeel was an ashole, we can't deny that, but even when he was the villain I liked it. He's very charismatic but I think Mashima doesn't give him the protagonism he deserves. I want to see him more!

4. Juvia Lockser

My queen. She's a cutie, she's amazingly powerful (we can't forget this: when she was part of Element Four, she was like a S-Class mage) and hilarious.

When she's on screen you laugh with her, you cry with her, you smile with her. She's a character that always makes you feel intense emotions.

But she needs to get more moments and fights!

5. Jellal Fernandes

The best character written by Mashima. Honestly.

I wish he could forgive himself, but I know he'll do soon and he will accept that his happiness is by Erza's side.

6. Lucy Heartfilia

I think she's a great character and I hate when people say that she's not strong. She is!!! And I really like that she's stronger than in her first appearances.

Lucy has grown so much since she met Natsu and joined Fairy Tail.

One of the most emotive moments in ft was this:

I cried so so much. Her relationship with Aquarius is one of my favs.

7. Mirajane Strauss

Again an incredibly powerful woman. Also kind, affectionate, cute, she cares a lot about her siblings and about the entire guild. She's like a big sister for everyone. 🥰🥰

But Mira is so underrated and so wasted. Please, she needs to appear much more, she is an amazing character.

8. Laxus Dreyar

Another example of bad boy turns good boy but I didn't feel the same with him than with Gajeel.

When Gajeel was an ashole I liked him, but when Laxus was an ashole I hated him. He was an absolutely bitch.

But his character development was amazing. He really shined during the GMG and Tartaros.

9. Rogue Cheney

Pure and soft boy. I want to know more about him. I love how jealous he can get when someone's around Frosch.

10. Zeref Dragneel

One of the best villains that exist.

Amazingly well written, tragical backstory, he's like so deep, you know?

Honestly, Mashima is so good writing complex characters.

Fav ships

I also have talked about why I like this ship, lol, here you have.

3. Miraxus

I really love Miraxus. I think they're a good example of "opposites are attracted" and I headcanon that they had a sort of relationship when they were teenagers but then they broke up (due to Lisanna's death and Laxus being an ashole lol).

But I think this ship is very underrated and they need to get more love and more content.

4. Nalu

The purest an cutest ship of this anime.

The way Natsu protects and supports Lucy is beautiful.

I feel like both of them have feelings for each other, but Lucy believes Natsu doesn't feel anything for her.

I'd like to see more of these two, but I know they only will be together at the end of ft 100 yq.

5. Jerza

Again, a complex ship. They love each other and they both know.

SO PLEASE BE HAPPY. YOU'RE SO IN LOVE!

I hate that Jellal acts this way, but I think he will be able to recognise that he needs to be with Erza so soon.

I also like Zervis, Elfgreen and Yukino x Sting (idk the ship name lol).

A Gospel Whispered in Stolen Time

Written for Fairy Tail Rare Pairs Week 2020 by @ftguildevents Prompts: Distance + Longing [Read on AO3] Summary: Together they look glorious. Two crumpled pieces which don’t fit like a puzzle, rather a mosaic with jagged ends finding their places. But their lives are bound by the golden shackles, they both are all but clocks running on stolen time. When Erik kisses Jellal, he can taste the stardust; when Lucy kisses him, he can taste the ashes. It's a love which only burns. Pairings: Jellal x Erik (main), Erik x Lucy and Jellal x Erza ****

It’s when they are in each other’s arms, their lips writing sins on each other’s skins, that the miles between them stretch farther and farther.

A love that looks like two spots on a balloon—expansion of which will only pull them apart.

Ties loosened and buttons of the shirt worked up with a hunger whose desperation only fuels the desires more. Back arched on the bed, Jellal fists his hand in Erik’s hair who is nibbling on his skin.

Together they look glorious. Two crumpled pieces which don’t fit like a puzzle, rather a mosaic with jagged ends finding their places.

Their bodies are glistening with sweat and desire and the pure rush of adrenaline which comes of finally being there with each other.

“Look at me,” Erik whispers.

Jellal complies.

Their gaze set into each other and it’s then they think if this is why eyes are called windows to the soul. Because there is sadness tightening around their throats and a weight too heavy, pushing them down in its gravity.

They cry.

The tragedy is the time that they have to steal, because their love has made them into thieves.

If kisses could have healed wounds, their hearts wouldn’t have been a battleground dripping red in places. If being together like this—with their limbs tangled into each other like they are one body—could have filled them like the drop of rain falling into a scorched pond, they would have been am ocean with raging waves.

With their foreheads pressed together, they have to write apologies to everyone. To each other. To themselves.

A lie which began one afternoon of heat and lust and an affection (which they wouldn’t admit then) which collided them together till they were shattered into fragments and then dust; the grains of their existence have now become almost one.

A lie which expanded and expanded till it turned to an inevitable love. They didn’t realise the distances slowly crawling and gnawing their way from the inside like worms.

The balloon is floating in the air.

And soon this love will be pricked by a reality they don’t want to live in.

The clothes are put on, and goodbyes are called out at the door. A chaste kiss that cannot wipe away the stinging tears is given.

“It’s might rain. Do you need an umbrella?” Jellal asks.

“I’ll be fine, thanks,” Erik replies and turns away to go home.

After only a block away, the clouds roar and soon they downpour. In the glow of the street lights, he could see it falling. And if it hadn’t been the sadness clutching him, he would have found the aesthetic pleasing.

He reaches home, and stares at his hand curled around his doorknob.

It’s a door that separates two worlds—the one he lives in and the one he wants to lives in.

He sighs and opens it.

“Welcome home, honey!” comes a chirpy voice from the room.

He thinks about the Heartfilia-Belserion nameplate on the wall outside.

Lucy walks towards him, her face glowing, and places are kiss on his cheek. “How was your day?”

Erik’s fingers tremble, the spot on his face almost burning a hole inside him. How different those lips feel than that of Jellal’s. He hates himself for thinking about it.

It’s a web of lies he has tangled himself in.

“It was good,” he finally manages to say.

“Yeah?” Lucy smiles. He hates the devotion and sincerity in her eyes. An honesty that feels like a slap on his face. “Me too. You wouldn’t believe what Natsu did toda—”

She begins to tell about her work and Erik falls into the familiar pattern of listening to it. He nods and provides input and smiles occasionally and does everything he can but gods; it is not enough.

It will never be enough.

Later after dinner when they are both in bed and she kisses him again, he kisses back. It feels like tasting ash.

It’s a love that only burns.

After she is asleep, he cries.

“How long will both of you keep lying?” Erza asks, brushing her hair in the mirror.

Jellal shuts his eyes. “I’m sorry.”  For everything.

“That’s fine,” Erza says. “Came for the sister stayed for the brother. It happens.”

Jellal looks at her, and an amused smile is playing on her lips.

He chuckles. “You’ll never let that one go.”

“It’s a classic.” Erza winks at him.

And although they are laughing, their minds are playing a three-year-old tragedy again. The union of Belserion-Fernandes clans was a grand celebration. Childhood friends to lovers was a dream people sighed after. Irene was pleased, so was Jellal’s father Mercphobia.

But things soon changed when Erik entered. A son of Erza’s distant uncle Acnologia, he was soon taken by Irene after his father’s death. Though he was raised on his estate, Irene took her upon herself to secure his bright future.

The marriage proposal to the Heartfilias who were an old friend was a perfect opportunity.

And then the duo power couples started getting together; parties, family meeting, business, etc.

That’s when the stars crashed and poured upon them like meteors. Although a beautiful sight—it can be lethal.

Stolen glances or two, admiration and awe; everything they write in the clichés of beginning romance.

They were magic together which trails in the stardust.

Erza noticed.

And Jellal has always been a bad liar.

It crushed her; which then crushed him.

He is spending the rest of his life trying to lift that weight.

“It’s okay,” she said to him one day. “I want you to be happy.”

And that’s what hurts the most.

While Erik could never bring himself to tell Lucy, in the fear of ripping her apart, Jellal and Erza decided to keep the pretence in the sake of their family names.

And so, while a girl walks in the hallway, relieved to finally get home and be in the loving arms of her husband; they both stealthily take some hours of the wicked time, put them in their pocket—too afraid of it slipping down—and wind a blind around the sun so that only the shy moon can witness their love.

And so, while another girl smirks in her cup, looking at the clock whose time has been stolen; in that darkness, their hands held together, their skins pressed against the other, they make a language whose words are the gospel they whisper to one another.
