ok thoughts on the rwrb movie real quick even tho no one asked:

it's been a hot minute since I read the book, but the movie kept a lot of the stuff I remember loving about the book

I will definitely be rereading the book in the coming weeks

was it just me or were the visuals like. weirdly off? especially in the first 45 minutes or so? I don't know how to describe it but the lighting felt like a stock photo and picking characters out of a crowd was like a Where's Waldo

in spite of my complaints the visuals did stop bugging me around halfway through the film. towards the end there were some pretty nice shots (I'm not really a film guy tho, my analysis of shot composition is not deep)

some of the character introductions were. bad. I didn't like them. president Clairemont stands out as being exceptionally stilted in her first scene (although she did feel more like a person as the story progressed)

After setting out the few snacks and getting the movie loaded, you patiently waited for him to come out of the bathroom. But as per usual, he took his sweet time. God forbid you had to be back in your own dorm by 10. Everything had to revolve on Xavier’s time. With another shiver running down your spine, you decided to take this opportunity to put on some extra clothes. You only had yourself to blame for wearing some pajama shorts and a shirt. Looking around you didn’t want to go through all of his clothes in the closet so instead you settled for the hoodie on his stool.

His scent filled your lungs as you put it over your head. Something along the lines of mint and fresh laundry. A smile plastered your face as you did, the fabric making you feel warm instantly. Xavier was still in the bathroom so you took initiative (Again), to look through some of his artwork. Roaming his sketchbook, you flipped to the back part since you’d been familiar with his previous pieces. Drawings of the lake, quad, and friends were on each page. But the very last one caught your attention. It was of you. Not just of you smiling and laughing. No. The drawing was of you sprawled out on his bed, completely naked. Tears streamed down your face as your hands pushed up. “You ready to start the movie?”

The voice of your friend caught you off guard, making you slam the book on the table. There were no words to say to him. You didn’t know what you could say. So with a nod, you got up and sat on his bed. He did the same, but it was a bit awkward. The twin size bed was barely big enough for Xavier’s 6’2 self so what makes you think the both of you would fit? Apparently he was thinking the same thing. Hence the way he forcefully gripped your chin to make you face him. Panic arose in you as he did. He was going to ask about the drawing. Ask you what you saw and what you looked at. Then he’d kick you out or something worse. He took notice of your facial expression, his own softening. “Aw, I didn’t mean to scare you. I’m sorry. I just want to hear your pretty voice.” A thumb ran across your cheek as he smiled. It was hard to stay scared at such a beautiful face. Finding yourself melting into his touch and his voice you finally spoke. “I was just cold. But I didn’t want to go through your closet.” He smiled again and leaned closer to you. “So you went through my sketchbook instead?” Face dropping, your eyes winded. Any hopes of him not asking? Vanished.

“No?” Rolling his eyes, he looked from you to the desk. “Don’t lie to me. I saw you go through it. The way you smiled while you flipped through the pages of the lake. How impressed you were with the one of the quad. And the way your legs closed, mouth parting when you got to the last page. You know, the one of you on my bed? Where you’re crying oh so prettily for me?” Flabbergasted didn’t even begin to describe how you felt. Babbles of you denying it and trying to make an excuse didn’t phase him. He knew that you saw. And based on the way you were avoiding eye contact, your cheeks getting flushed now, proved that to him. After a few more seconds he got tired of your excuses and decided to shut you up with a kiss.

A harsh one. His lips met yours, hungrily biting at them. It took you by surprise, making you gasp. This gave him an opening to shove his tongue into your mouth. As he attempted to explore, you shook your head, trying to stop him. Of course it didn’t work. I mean, seriously. Where’d you get the idea you could ever overpower him? Something I've been wondering about is, how many years did it take for Sugar Rush to appear in the arcade (and how long did it take Turbo to hack it). Because Roadblasters was considered new at the time and its graphics were still 2D. So it can't have been overnight. Everybody thought Turbo was dead, which meant that he was hiding up until Sugar Rush was plugged in; that couldn't have been good for his mental health. Probably was Q*bert's neighbor for those years. While a solid timeline has never been confirmed, most say it was 10 years after the RoadBlaster incident to Sugar Rush being plugged in, and according to one of the writers, Turbo took over before anyone even played Sugar Rush.

All I can think of now is Turbo, this 4-bit character walking in to a high-graphic game and having a mind swirl for a second. Very colorful and radiant in comparison to his own game where it was just like, what, 6 colors max? But in that 10 year gap frame, he did learn about code (which is still such a wild thing to think about but hey, man had nothing to do for 10 years), and when he saw Sugar Rush, immediately went to its motherboard. Created his own model, his own data box, yanked Vanellope's code connections and boom, a new home.

Gene's VA (along with a Gene puppet) mentioned something among the lines of "When Turbo used to come to the penthouse, he would leave mud tracks everywhere." Not sure how canon this would be, but it would show Turbo was at least familiar with Fix-It Felix and would go over for, idk, parties? Would also make sense given how Felix and King Candy/Turbo never interacted again in the whole movie.

And also, I don't know how much Turbo would actually even boast about given that his selfish actions caused the death of two games and most likely his own fellow game characters (RIP Turbo Twins, I know you're out there somewhere). I can imagine not a lot of people wanted to be around him.

Good morning/afternoon/night to whoever may be reading this! It's late but I feel like writing stuff, so here we go :)

JLPT: I did the JLPT/日本語能力試験 (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) on Sunday for the N5 level for the first time :D Honestly, I feel like I went well (my main concerns were my phone ringing out of the blue, even though I had turned it off nicely and it was in silent mode, and not being able to hear the audio part, but thankfully everything went well) and I really hope to pass. If I do, I'll probably start studying for N4 as soon as possible (though I don't think I'll be prepared enough to do the December test already), but let's see how it goes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I've never been so excited during a test before lol

MOVIESSSSS: I surprisingly woke up early today and chose to not be a lazy bum who watches youtube shorts on her bed for like 2 hours, so I decided to watch some movies! (yippeeee) :D I started out by watching Little Darlings, which I really liked. The story was pretty interesting, the main leads had believable acting (which is hella important), and shaggy hair Matt Dillon my beloved was there (which is even more important). Kinda unrelated but I feel like his shaggy hair era is a bit forgotten :( Idk, I just find more about his Outsiders era and nowadays on here and pinterest, so that's kinda the impression I get from the fandom/fanbase (Idk if I should call it that). Anyways, it was funny and emotional at the right times (and Randy was adorable), so I'd give it an 8/10. I then watched Juno, which has been on my watchlist for a pretty long time, and I loved it :3 It was better than I expected (though I did not expect to see Dwight's actor and Spiderman's J. J. Jameson's actor there lol), and the ending scene made me squeal as if I were watching a cute cat video. Solid 10/10. Finally, I watched Liar's Moon. It was pretty good ngl, (Matt looked so handsome wtf) but the whole possible incest plot twist thing was hella weird, so I'd give it a 7.5/10. Feel free to give me any movie suggestions :) (especially if Matt Dillon is in it lol)

The Outsiders on roblox: Idk if any of y'all play roblox, but I do (been using the same account from 7 years ago lol, it holds many memories) and I thought of searching ''the outsiders'' on it to see if there were any games ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and so there's these two(?) games, but only one of them is mainly played by roleplayers n stuff. So a few weeks ago, I remember going there and always seeing the same two Ponyboy and Johnny roleplayers (I even remember talking to a girl who wasn't roleplaying and she was pissed that people shipped the greasers together lol), and like, they were ALWAYS on there. I'd log in at 7am, then like 9pm of THE SAME DAY and they'd be there. I also tested this on multiple days. And just them yk, not even a Dally or TwoBit to be there too, and even now when I don't see them that often in game, I always ask myself ''are they gonna be there?'' lol Also, I've also played the Cherry Valance obby (not bad), and the beginning of the obby mentions it's based on the Darry obby, which I haven't been able to find, so if anyone has the link, please lmk :3

My Rants and Reviews on the Failtopia S2 Finale Outfits!

Major Failtopia Season 2 spoilers ahead!

yeah it’s the basic one, but i think that fits him! If I had to pick another outfit it would be the Pro one, but I genuinely can’t see him in anything else other than the boring chef outfit. I feel like if he wanted to change it he def could (I mean look at his imp outfit) but the basic chef outfit is very solid for him! If it ain’t broke don’t fix it! 7/10

Orion

I know the outfit is very clashing and has a bunch of colors, but in Dan’s defense: Orion’s makeup already has a bunch of colors, and when you look into it the colors the outfit has actually matches with the makeup a bit! and also, I kinda wish Dan didn’t have the makeup be as out there for the sake of those drawing fanart, but at the same time this is Daniel Failboat. Insane designs are expected. That being said though, I can’t change the clothes or makeup even if you forced me to. the context for it is just so freakin cute!! we all love great fathers in this household. He makes me wish I had a meaningful relationship with my dad. 6/10

Friend

I like it! I have a few minor gripes though. This may be a bit of a hot take, but I don’t like Zone (the hat) or Ship (the staff). Not in the Finale at least. I think Friend should’ve removed them both to show that they’ve moved on and don’t need something like Lee anymore. Symbolism and character arcs and all that other fancy stuff idk. Also I like that she looks more like a priest than a Cleric, it makes sense! He’s really religious in-universe and their war cry is literally “die, sinner :)”, so I don’t have any problems with that! As much as I like her in purple, he looks oddly good in a black and white outfit too! 8/10

Barbarella: OK. this one is actually pretty silly. Definitely has aspects that would not be considered "progressive" today that were probably revolutionary at the time. Like I'm sure a woman who had sex with men and enjoyed it would not be labeled as "innocent" the way Barbarella is played to be, but like in the context of the sixties... idk probably was a profoundly intriguing concept. Loved the set and costume designs!!!!!!!!

Rating: 6/10, lots of human/nonhuman action.

Voyage to the Planet of Prehistoric Women: THIS WAS SO BORINGGGGG!!!!!!!! yup there were definitely come prehistoric (????) women there and they were all blond. I was definitely expecting this to be a low key fetish film about the really bad "noble savage" trope but the team from earth doesn't even see the titular prehistoric women. It's just the team from earth dicking around trying to collect samples while the prehistoric women try to secretly run them off by getting their gods to cause harm. Costume designs looked like cheap party city props.

Rating: 1/10, no action at all.

Forbidden Planet: Actually not too bad. Just disappointed that the aliens had been long dead by the time the humans get there. No alien/human or even robot/human action. GREAT set design (I like the look of old scifi set designs even if they don't look "real" i will always believe in set design superiority over CGI), pretty nice costumes. Very predatory romance between all the men of a military crew and the one human girl and some references how "immodestly" she dresses around them (I am rolling my eyes all the way back to my brain)

Invasion of the Body Snatchers: oh i feel the strength of the red scare in this chili's tonight. Very much a "what if the russians invaded our town slowly" deal. No alien fuckery, in fact I'm still VERY confused as to how the switch happens. Because in this film, a pod will grow another human and then take someone's place while they are asleep. BUT in the scene where the main two are running away, when the woman is so tired she falls asleep... she's replaced? okay why grow a pod then. she was fine and then falls asleep accidentally for a few seconds and her humanity is gone but she wasn't replaced.... maybe it made sense in the sixties :/

Rating: 5/10, again. interesting, but no action

Life Force: NOW THIS IS WHAT I'M FUCKING TALKING ABOUT BABYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY SPACE VAMPIRES? VAMPIRES FROM SPACE? But also on the flip side, have you seen that post where it's like "men who write scifi are like here's a cool world building idea and also how much i fucking hate women." That's this. Decent effects, cool idea, but the main character is just... wild. There's a scene where he's sure a space vampire has taken over a random woman and just beats the ever loving christ out of her, unprovoked. Super uncomfortable to watch. You can tell that this is like an example of how some men view attractive women as sirens that "lure" innocent men with their "wicked beauty" and manipulate them. Not a good look! The set designs are cool tho

you know when people get angry about plotholes or contradicting canons or whatever. i'm sicck of it. if you want something with a solid immutable canon maybe watch something that doesn't heavily involve time travel and also wasnt written over 60 years by multiple different writers with differing opinions. like to me doctor who canon is everything and nothing at all. it's a grocey store where you get to pick and choose what to put in your cart. like idk. maybe go read unnatural history and cry about it guy
