That re-contextualizes the Ivan little sister lore :( he probably doesn’t want her to have to deal with the stuff he did and end up like the rest of his family. Off topic, I just finished watching a YouTuber play the game The Roottrees are Dead/Roottreemania which is a mystery puzzle game about piecing together a crazy family tree from nothing and I feel like I’m back in it. “You placed Ivan on the tree and found that Raul is his father. You found the line about his mom’s intelligence, allowing you to place Mrs. Bruel. You collected the clue about Raul being like his dad to fill in Ivan’s grandfather. The line about Ivan’s grandmother setting him straight allows you to add her to the tree. What you may have missed is that in one of the Germany-exclusive trading card game secret lore cards you can find information about Ivan’s younger sister, the last known piece of the tree.”

I’m guessing Marc’s episode will be about overcoming impostor syndrome then, but I’m curious what Nathaniel’s deal is like wtf does “I’m not comfortable being on a team” mean.

Ok his dad being a supervillain is kind of out of nowhere and I do wish there was some sort of foreshadowing that this guy even exists but I gotta say they have been setting this up for a long time. okay so i'm the anon who first brought up memory wiping shifter!stan and i just need to ramble because this more canon-adjacent version of the timeline has been festering in my brain now.

- the stealing of ford's identity part is fun bc now stan can actually perfectly replicate his appearance, extra fingers and all. probably makes it into part of his gimmick at the shack (why does he need the shack if he has money in this au? idk man i haven't figured that out yet but he has it). that does create an issue when dipper finds the journal and brings it to stan bc of the finger thing, but stan just flat out denies any connection to it. he can't just confiscate the thing though bc that would be suspicious as fuck, so he spends a significant amount of time trying to get his hands on it to make copies without the kids noticing.

- he probably loses a bit of his shifting flexibility due to having a more permanent shift (he's at least less flexible than he was during his drifter days) but he still does some stretching down in the lab. i also imagine that when he's down there he uses his shifting as a way fidget/stim while he works. he also probably uses it to keep an eye on the kids a non-zero number of times.

- i'm imagining the reveal happening in scary-oke, similar to the canon reveal there. this is also when he can finally take the journal for a bit, using the excuse that dipper did something actively dangerous with it and this is the punishment. he still gives it back when he has his copies.

- looking over that journal he finds out about shifty and he is immediately staging a rescue

- ford probably finds out about stan's shifting when he comes out of the portal and stan has 6 fingers. it's... tense.

- i think if maurice is involved they probably know about the whole situation from investigating stan's fake death and/or stan just telling them bc if there's one person stan can trust with that information, it's probably them. stan continues to call them twice a year and they continue to pretend they aren't invested. maybe they can get in on freeing shifty.

Shapeshifter Stan is so fun. I'll probably write the next (and maybe final) chapter when i'm done with the next cat Stan short.

More under the cut, because it got very long

Stan stealing Ford's identity is definitely him becoming Ford in a very literal sense, letting his original base form disappear forever at 17. Because he thinks Ford knows he's a shapeshifter, and he'll just seamlessly transition them once Ford gets home. I imagine it followed the original timeline with him showing up with his face covered, then quickly shifting to look like Ford with minor differences and revealing his face so he wasn't embarrassed about his baby face. He makes the shack to launder his own money so that it doesnt appear that Ford just got a million of dollars from nowhere, and because he doesn't want to continue his brother's research without him. So from an outside perspective Stanford Pines had a mental break, and started giving tours (just like canon lol). Stan makes everything fake, because he doesn't want to get on the bad side of any real supernatural creatures hanging around. As for the journal, I imagine Dipper runs up and shows it off, and Stan says its nonsense from when he 'went crazy in the eighties! nothing to worry about!' but he also can't take it without looking suspicious. Now the b plot becomes not 'who's the author' but 'what happened to Grunkle Stan that he forgot all his amazingly real research.' Stan still has to try and steal the book without notice, but can also shapeshift into the twins so its not an impossible mission, just very difficult.

Stan definitely becomes less flexible, but not terribly so. Limbs have always been his bread and butter, and he makes himself stronger and fireproof while working on the portal. Gives himself extra hands to multitask, the ability to climb better to reach the higher mechanics. The portal probably looks better the OG Stan's, just because he has more maneuverability. He also 100% spies on the kids in the 'hands-off' stalker raising technique he was raised with. Closes the Shack down and turns into people to follow the twins around and keep an eye on them.

In keeping with the 'no one realizes he's a shapeshifter until his mind is wiped' angst, the reveal is that he "did" write the books, but that they became dangerous, similar to Stan's 'this stuff is dangerous I'm not an idiot' speech. He still takes the journal to 'reminisce' but gives it back, saying that he knows the kids have been using it to keep themselves safe. Claims any lapse in memory as 'it was the eighties and I went through a rough patch and forgot a bunch of things'. Dipper thinks cult (blind eye that falls through) Mabel thinks mental break (official story but also wrong).

Now the question about Shifty is tricky, because Stan would want to rescue the poor kid his brother treated as a pet(Which is weird, because Ford knew about shapeshifters, but maybe he didnt realize they were the same species because he never saw the form Stan was born with), but I think it would happen after the bunker episode, so that the kids still get that shapeshifter experience. Stan goes down, sees poor Shifty is still a popsicle, and calls a bunch of his circle to help him out, as this is a special case. They'd probably come in, unfreeze him, then get him out of Gravity Falls and rehabilitate him in a more social Shifter group. Stan wouldn't use Fords form here, as he wouldnt want to cause a scene, but would explain that the man who sorta raised him isnt around anymore, and to try and find a new life out on the surface.

For the portal reunion, Stan explains he 'got an extra finger' and Ford brushes it off as a fake or medically transferred in a way too try-hard move of stealing his identity. Because Stan wouldn't look exactly like old man Ford, as he's had to guess how Ford's changed over the years, so his hairs still full grey and he looks slightly different. Ford 100% does not realize Stan's a shapeshifter at this time, but Stan doesnt realize that Ford doesnt know either, still making vague references to being a shapeshifter that aggravates Ford because he thinks Stan is being childish, then Stan thinks that because of Fords experience with Shifty that maybe he doesnt like Stan anymore in a big circle of miscommunication.

Maurice 100% knows whats going on (maybe not about the portal specifics, but enough) and only some of that is from Stan calling them. The rest is from his constant spying on Stan. So they know that Ford is missing in such a way that Stan is working on retrieving him, just not about Bill and the doomsday device in Stan's basement. Maurice does get his two or more phone calls a year and calls on birthdays. Probably also helped find a circle to adopt Shifty, since they're fairly well connected. There's a fifty-fifty chance Stan has a younger spawn-mate at this time as well, but they wouldn't come into the story more then "please let me talk to them, i want an actual shapeshifter sibling, please please please!"

EXTRA: Stan would not have any spawn at this point, because he'd be focused on the portal and getting Ford back. Maurice becomes the 'and when am i going to see you spawning? you have a very rare talent you might be able to pass onto future spawn.' parent, always nagging Stan about his lack of spawn, despite being 'very genetically desirable' (Their way of saying attractive lol, because of Stan's limb growing). The parent who demands grand kids basically.

Agree about the bluegreeners part but the ship was also not popular and gmm works on profits .. most people who supported the ship didn't care to watch their series.. half the quotes on the announcement starts with " i didn't watch their show but/ i don't follow this ship but/ I haven't been keeping up with them but " . PC also had (although considerably less) fans but PS was able to overcome all that because that ship worked and hence became popular..

Anyway, Atp I'm also starting to think o is cursed. I hope l gets a start over. I don't think on is ever coming back. Wdt will happen to their upcoming shows? Total replacement like " The Next Prince" or new ship for either of them like 10liners

not being as popular as the big ships is not a good enough reason to drop them, especially when it's fueled by haters bc this is just them giving in and up (gmmtv, not OL). Plus disbanding them will give them even less profits than just letting them vegetate even without projects. But they did have 2 projects lined up, which are both promising in terms of profits and engagement and definitely could have contributed to a recovery plot- and acting-wise since Kidnap really did not have the best script. So all this makes absolutely zero sense from a business standpoint imo. but what do I know.

But this is also about them as individuals and after that stunt, Ohm's chances of ever having a partner - no matter if permanent or not - that both him and his fans are comfortable with went completely out the window so BL is kinda over for him. which might sound sulky but him leaving the company altogether would be the best option atp. his so-called fans obviously don't give a shit about his career and what he wants so no matter what he does, he will lose either way. Which is a fucked up situation for anyone to be in, no matter if you like them or not. Ohm will be fine though, with his career thus far he could easily retire at 25 lol.

As for Leng, after reading a bit into what he has faced in the last few months, I sincerely hope he recovers from all this in some way and I hope he gets another chance at growing as an actor and does not leave gmmtv but he should probably step down for a while as well, at least from BLs. The chances of him stumbling into a recovery ship like Perth did are very low imo. That being said I really hope their roles in OF2 will be recast but I think they will. ppl are already pitching AouBoom but idk I haven't thought about who would fit the roles yet. I just hope both Ohm and Leng leave both OF2 and Mu-Te-Luv asap. this is for their own good anyway.

Hey, in spirealm, can a person get stuck inside the door even after someone else has found the key and opened it? As in, can they choose to stay inside the door, or will they be kicked out once the door is opened?

we discussed this ardently on the server and concluded: it's not explicitly stated in the drama (that any of us could recall), but in the novel, almost all the doors have a time constraint—if you don't get out with ruan nanzhu the person who finds the key, the world of that door will collapse, and anyone still left inside it dies. but then there are at least a couple of doors which seem to exist permanently? it really depends on the individual door and its death conditions.

for example, in the teru teru bozu door (chapter 91), ruan nanzhu and lin qiushi have the following exchange:

Ruan Nanzhu sat at his side, seeming [lost?] in thought. Suddenly, he said, “I really think there’s something off.” “What?” Lin Qiushi looked over. “Typically, there’s always a time limit inside the doors. This door is too peaceful,” Ruan Nanzhu said. “It’s too strange.” Lin Qiushi considered this carefully. Indeed, inside a door, there was usually a clear time limit. But this time, the NPC didn’t state a deadline. This was quite abnormal. there are so many exceptions it hardly seems worth counting; honestly my impression of kod has always been that xi zixu was pantsing like crazy, because there will be plot-convenient exceptions to rules pretty much as situations arise and they're needed? e.g. the newbie qin budai, who "seemed to have gotten stuck inside a door for too long, and so even after exiting, he hadn’t been able to recover. In the end, they’d gotten rid of him."

to me the beautiful thing about spirealm fic is, it can be whatever you need it to be. when i'm writing this kind of fic (which it sounds like you might be?), i decide what emotional beats i want first, and then build around it whatever plot/case i need in order to make that happen. if the important part of the story is, idk, "lin qiushi pining," then you write a case which will force him into maximum pining. after all this is exactly what xi zixu is doing anyway: the author just wants to dress up baijie and fluster lin qiushi. the rest of the narrative is nothing more than an elaborate excuse to make that happen.

Hi! I'd love to drop some thoughts on cowboy!reader.

I think they get tattoos that are symbolic of things/people that mean a lot to them. No fear of the permanence, because cowboy knows that if something means that much to you at one point in time, it'll always be a part of you anyways, tattoo or not.

So basically i can see the whole team discovering that cowboy!reader is half covered in tattoos (maybe on a really hot climate case etc) and they're like what do all those mean?! and cowboy is like well, i have one for each of y'all. then they all of course feel a need to guess which ones are representative of them. maybe only then do they realise just how much of an impact they've had on him. idk.

It was ridiculously hot, you honestly felt like you were melting (and this coming from you, so it was ridiculously hot). And then a police officer bumps into you, spilling his freshly made (and very hot) coffee onto you whilst you were making your way to the briefing room set up for the case.

You huffed as you walked in, trying to get the shirt as far away from you as possible without actually taking it off. "Someone spilt coffee on me," You pouted, JJ chuckled slightly.

"You're going to need to change shirts," She said, as she was closest she fished through your go-bag, grabbing a shirt and throwing it at you. You caught it, shooting her a grin as you did so.

"Shirtless warning," You warned, they all rolled their eyes at your laziness to find a secluded place to change shirts. You quickly removed your shirt as you then tried to find the opening for your other shirt.

"Since when did you have tattoos?" Morgan asks with a grin.

You turned to him, "For a while now," You shrugged.

"What do they all mean?" Spencer asked, tilting his head.

"They've all got different meanin's," You said. "Some of them are for the people I've met and have impacted me, others are just pretty,"

"Pretty?" Morgan grinned.

"Yeah, pretty."

Spencer looked at your tattoos before pointing at one. A small black bird on your chest.

"Who's that one for?"

"That one's for my baby brother Aden," You grin, "When he was a kid he used to make me sing Blackbird when he was scared,"

Your grip on the gun shook as you pointed it towards the enemy Spy. Your teammates were gone, held hostage by a sabotaged respawn machine. It was just you... and the Spy in front of you.

"I suggest you listen, dear." Spy warns, looking at you with a smug expression. "I can easily have your team gotten rid of permanently unless you listen. Those respawn machines are important, we both know that... and they're offline."

"You're lying...." You seethe, gun still aimed for the Spy in front of you.

"Am I?" Spy grins, cigarette in hand. "Would you really want to take the risk and doom your team? I thought you cared for them... unfortunately." Spy grimaces, watching you as you take in his words.

Spy only approaches when he sees you freeze and lower you're weapon. He circles you with a predatory grin as he plucks the weapon from your hand. You watch as he tosses it, settling behind you with his hands on your hips.

"Aren't you tired of fighting?" Spy whispers, leaning into you. "I could easily put an end to all of this unless you comply. You see... I have so much info against you and your team. Hate to have it all leaked, no?"

Spy's smile never falters when he sees your breath hitch. He has you exactly where he wants you. He's been waiting for this moment. He has been pretending to play the part of your team member... only to reveal himself as a traitor.

This was his job, after all... gain information and take out those who resist.

"You know what I'm talking about, dear. It's against the rules to have romantic relations with a team member, is it not? I could tell the higher ups about everything... you wouldn't want that."

Spy chuckles when you freeze, knowing he means the conversations you've been having with your "coworker"... aka Spy. The real coworker you adores was dead and gone. Spy made sure not even a respawn machine could help them.

"You trying to blackmail me?" You answer, squirming when Spy pulls you closer. "Manipulate me into doing... what exactly?"

"Manipulation? No, dear, I'm just encouraging you!" Spy hums. "But with me, you don't have to hold your feelings back anymore. I adored our little chats. We can still make this work... I can even bring back that team of yours if you just give yourself to me, my beloved. Our little secret...."

"Don't mock me!" You yell, breaking out of his grip. You try to pull out your secondary but the Spy is faster due to years of experience. He plucks the weapon out of your hand before tossing it again. You then feel him hold you still, a frown on his face.

"I'd hate to hurt you but... if you keep this up I might have to." Spy sighs, sound hurt. The sudden change surprises you. What scares you about Spy... is the fact you can't read him. Spy chuckles, seeing the gears turning in your eyes.

"We'll be seeing each other a lot more often, won't we?" Spy smiles. "After all... you want this little secret of yours to stay quiet no doubt. In fact... once those respawn machines are up and running again, I'm sure you'll be seeing me tonight, love."

He traces his gloves fingers across your jawline, smiling with half lidded eyes.

"I plan to make you mine tonight, dear... better wear something nice." Spy whispers. "I want you to act like you're mine, after all, I'm turning these machines back on because I love you. Don't forget that."

Brainrot? Brainrot... or Drabble. Idk

I’m alive! Sort of? Honkai: Star Rail has viciously grabbed my brain the second I saw it and now I have thoughts... and this is also because I got yanked in by the throat from both the silly content and beautiful artwork.

And if it wasn’t enough to nail a coffin to my grave, Tumblr dropped a post from @channelinglament (which is this post right here) and now my brain’s keeping me up with thoughts.

Not sure if I’ll have enough energy to spare for actual posts, but maybe with enough food for thought, I might actually make a piece or two... might. Due to HSR’s brand of silliness, it might just be Shenanigans the Fic.

The thing that gets to me the most is the highest of Aeons part, like... the Aeon of Aeons and you know, while I still know almost nothing about how Aeons come to be, what if there’s that one Entity that just exists and gives power that basically ascends whatever is sentient.

Of course the term “Aeon” would not be applied until numerous of the ascended beings are present and people are suddenly aware that there are these powerful beings in the universe now that can literally affect everything and bring about a permanent change to their livelihood. One moment the universe is all calm and normal and then here comes the Aeons. People do not know how to feel about them at first.

Naturally, there will always be the curious type of people who would try to search for the cause of it.

Pop in lil old You, just trying to help everyone you come across who look to be in desperate need power to be able to change their unfortunate circumstances. Too pure of heart, harmless mischief maker, just overall the sweetest entity with the power to turn anything into gods... yes, this is how beings like Qlipoth and Nous are born.

Now this gets me thinking that the Paths existed as one big, singular Path with you as the origin point and the ending point. When you gift a part of your power to someone/something, a piece of the path branches out of the main path but still remains connected to you... whether out of devotion or because it cannot exist without you is up in the air (your choice tbh).

The people/Aeons would just feel so grateful to be chosen, to be given so much power to do what they wished to change/do most... this was before they discovered there were others like them, doing things different from them that may clash with their ideals and suddenly there’s an all out war because each of the Aeons believed that the others were sullying your name by abusing your gifts.

(While the Dusk Wars are happening, you remain in ignorance to the wars because there are mortals that are calling for help and you just can’t look away from them.)

Eventually most of the Aeons are either killed off by each other (i.e, Tayzzyronth the Propagation) or assimilated into another Aeon (i.e Ena the Order), leaving a great many Paths masterless and fraying in shards, which suddenly starts to affect you badly and the poor Aeons who were just trying to do your name justice are panicking.

No one knows what happened, or what was happening to you, and when Akivili disappears/died, you disappear as well. Everyone is grieving, and there are no more new Aeons appearing anymore.

Thus you are assumed dead by the universe  (this part came from another post that I can’t quite find ;-;) and later become forgotten just because... idk. Haven’t thought much past this.

Plot twist for the universe (not really a plot twist because there would be no story without the star of the show), you are not. You just got a bit (super) sleepy because the Paths that are masterless are without an ending point and therefore drains you because there is no one there to receive the power from the separated Path. You spent a lot of your energy mending the masterless Paths back to you which made you fall asleep by the time you were done.

When you wake back up is when the game starts, and being so out of touch with the timeline of the universe, you’re just one curious bean trying to figure out what’s going on.

No one can see you now though, which is just sad for you, but you realized they can sense you so you’re just doing your best to help them now. Kafka and Silver Wolf do not understand what’s going on except the strange warm and homely feeling that makes them feel invincible is suddenly there.

Also a mischief maker if the randomly destroyed property by the subtle urging is anything to go by... yeah, there’s something there.

Kafka and Silver Wolf feel oddly disappointed when the sensation leaves, but returns to Elio and mentions it to him. He then tells them that he may or may not have withheld information from them that an Aeon (the OG of Aeons) was going to be helping them. However they react is up to your thoughts... I haven’t thought of something for that part yet.

When MC (could be either) wakes up, the first thing they actually see is You... which makes you delighted because Yay, a friend to communicate with!. Neither March 7th nor Dan Heng could understand why the MC is talking to nothing, until they felt the warm and fuzzy presence nestled into them that they are suddenly aware that MC might be interacting with a higher existence that might be an Aeon.

They are naturally wary of you at first, but upon seeing the way MC interacts with you, doing some silly stuff by your apparent urging... they realized you’re pretty harmless and also very nice (in what way, also up in the air).

[Going back to the subject of other Aeons who are essentially your Emanators by all but name, they do not know you are alive until Nanook catches sight of you/felt your very real presence with the MC when the Doomsday Beast battle happens. They are very happy you’re back, but they’re very upset because why didn’t you tell them you were back? For what reason, you guys can think about it. 

Anyways, you’ve got an Aeon stalking you and MC now, keeping a close eye on you especially because they nearly lost you once and would like it if you didn’t actually die this time. When MC starts getting acknowledged by more of the Aeons, more of them are also going to notice you too and then join Nanook with the stalking thing.

Eventually if they do find you in reality... well, that’s up to your imagination. It can also be a race between them and the mortals who start to see you physically too since you’re the sweetest existence to ever come into the universe and it’s a must to protect that innocence of yours (or for some other reason).

Also highly debating if Aeon!You would be either Aeon of Origin (the beginning of the Paths/the Origin of the Paths if going by this type of story) or Aeon of Guidance because of the in-game thing that we all do.]

Okay have read “tides of fate” now.

First: obligatory fave quote: “No sooner had he breathed the air into his new lungs than he had claimed your mouth, fell with you to the ground on the very spot where his new feet had first touched it, and begged to have his wife.”

Like yes, babe, and it was hot as fuck.

Second: that it was evil!reader that persuaded Sauron back on track instead of maybe considering going home with his tail between his legs makes “Defied” so much spicier. Now it has an undercurrent of “you wouldn’t even be here without me, why won’t you listen? Why won’t you yield just a little?” It calls attention to the fact that Sauron thinks of her as a part of him, not just in the cutesy way but also (subconsciously and probably buried deep in his mind) as a part of him to serve his purposes. A beloved vital organ, barred from going against him in anyway.

My longstanding conspiracy theory is that Sauron (esp as you write him but generally) has a need to be Adored, (in canon in the sense of being worshipped, in fanfic land in both worship and the romantic relationship sense). I think your evil reader series couples really well with that, in the sense that your Sauron both needs to be adored and to adore. That he has a SO so intertwined with his story, his plots and schemes satisfies both needs.

I think he feeds on evil!reader’s desire of him in a very real way. I do wonder how he’d fare given the “it’s me or the rings” ultimatum but for real. I also lowkey wonder if his proposal to form The Two, by mixing their blood together, might have something to do with potentially binding her to him even more permanently, so no matter how angry or disappointed or abandoned she felt she would never be able to forsake him. He’d have to be banking on his maiar blood overpowering hers and keeping her from having a similar impact on him, I guess.

Oh they are excellent ramblings👀 I perfectly agree that Sauron wants to be admired, and I think that’s also why when someone tries to call him Sauron aka “the Abhorred” he kind of deflects with his go-to line ‘I’ve had many names’.

As for their relationship, in my mind, the more involved they get with the Rings, the more things spiral out of control. I did have the fight in Defied on my mind while I was writing this, cause in that one reader is the one backtracking a little while Sauron just goes full-speed ahead and that’s partially because at that point he especially is more and more blinded by his greed for the Rings, since they are literally made of him. There is a hope on both their parts that The Two will help put them back on the same track and make their union even stronger, but tbh at the moment I don’t see it going that well😅 Like, there might be such a thing as ‘too close’. I was listening to Over each other by Linkin Park, and it made me think of a potential period of decline between them where their thoughts are so intertwined by the influence of The Two that it feels like ‘all they are is talking over each other’:

Reaching for satellites, but all along/Under your breath, you're sayin' that I was wrong, oh/The skyscrapers we created are comin' down/And free-fallin' to the pavement/Cause you won't let me breathe/And I'm not ever right/All we are is talkin'/Over each other

And that drives them insane and brings out the worst in them, making them blame each other for the mess as the peoples of Middle-Earth keep fighting back and their goal seems forever out of reach and ugh. It’s messy af and idk how (if) that’s gonna be fixed.

But I like to go hand in hand with canon so you guys don’t have to worry about that kind of angst any time soon. Good thing season 3 isn’t here yet😅

Puppet animation :D! i think it turned out cool

Ok so this needs context lmao. For anyone not up to speed. Mai and Puppet's lore in our au is that they were the same kid, they got split into 2, they are 2 opposite extremes and don't work quite right. they both wear an eyepatch because the covered eye is the other twin's eye. "I want to be broken" he's only using one hand to motion in this part, the one on the side of his covered eye, the "real" hand or the one on the side of mai's eye because she's the "real" one. The real daughter the real kid the one thats not a husk. He's saying it all happy because His emotions are all weird and he's mostly just completely indeferent to anything, and because in jitter doll he's saying stuff like "I feel like I'm going to blow up and they'll get rid of my body. They'll kill my foul heart" all smiley. But also being he wants to be broken out of the permanent stupor he's in by virtue of his existence, he wants something to "break" him to get him to feel anything but plain desinterest for most things. "To be broken" is repeated on the next line, and he's crumpling up his eyepatch (idk if thats very clear lol), To be broken break the emotionless machinery in his brain so that flesh may take over. "Thrown away" and shows just his eye. Insane thing to focus on but in the gravity falls cover, while mai and pup are presented as a powerful duo and stuff, when the spread happens Mai gets a full body with an outfit, Pup is literally just an eye. He feels less complete than mai and therefore easier to throw away. "and put to rest" Curse of transness and magic system killing you. Marinette (original kid) is DEAD. She was deadly ill and when they split she literally passed away, their mother mourns a kid that won't come back, and Pup feels like he can never live up to what she was, a full human full of sorrow and pain and happiness and so many feelings. "I'm a complex robot, you see" Talking to Fred while he's in the shadow world. Saying cryptid shit about how he wants Fred to have what he never will because he's just a robot. Basically jitter doll reference lol :P "it kind of feels like I've got a heart" Leon. Who invited him here. This is where I go off the deep end and can't justify myself. Remember how I said he wants to be broken to feel stuff?? Well it happens!!!!

He has never cared at all for much stuff, he does stuff that vaguely amuses him like speaking in riddles or pranking people, but the only thing he ever truly showed REAL interest in was the supernatural, SOLELY because they thought it would be able to explain why they exist and let them fix his head. Villain's plan fucks up shit related to shadows and all the supernaturaleness that his existence held is explained by shadows. So it's not a mystery anymore, plot unravels he gets real answers and the final veredict is that he cannot be fixed! and he's just stuck like that.. So he stops liking that. He stops liking the ONE interest he had because he got an answer and it can't fix him "What about leon" MY FUCKING SHACKLESSS MY SHACKLES MY PRISION UH. Uh They were sort of buddies... Leon got enamoured by Pup existing and followed him around and talked to him a LOT and Pup sort of didn't care for him and didn't really realize he was a human person and stuff because #his emotions are barely there. The villains plan and all of that hinged on shadows, and so Leon knew all about those and just never told him, He has lost the one thing he had and the guy who claimed to be so interested in him never told him and watched him run around like an idiot. He gets pissed, he's FEELING emotion even thought it's really negative and its overwhelming and weird and he's feeling the strongest he has in years because he's full of resent. But it doesn't even last long, he can't win, and it all just starts to look pointless. They have nothing anymore.

Michell mellowed down a lot when he arrived at the boarding school mostly bc he didn't want to get in trouble again.

He got expelled from strange hill high bc him and Lucas basically filled the cafeteria with some foam and while Lucas got off with a week's expulsion Mitchell was expelled permanently and the boarding school was the only school that accepted him during the middle of the school year.

Somehow he is the 3rd best of the class being behind June and Mark not bc he studies but bc all the things they're learning he learned them at strange hill.

He will pull pranks once in a while but they aren't big.

Also he sits next to June in class

So she went to a school I'll call School Of Peculiar Oddities or SPO high school and she was facing horror like bro is traumatized

So in SPO she had 1 singular friend and everyone else was jackasses or did not care and her friend would Die every. Single. Day. And she got used to it after a while bc when your dealing with dentist trying to rip out your teeth, a witch that you found in the bathroom trying to kill your bullies bc she mistook you for a royal and a monster quintuple your size revealing all your insecurities and fears in front of your classmates having your friend die and revive constantly isn't much of a big issue.

Until it was when one day he died outside of school, right in front of the doors, and she didn't care until the next day when he was still lifeless on the ground.

So she got bullied mercilessly and bc of that her parents took her put of the school and put her in the boarding school.

So she's fucking traumatized and the only reason she isn't bullied as much as Mitchell now is bc

1: she's friends with one of the bullies(the snake bully) bc they share room and

2: she's quiet and is quite literally a sad dog so people feel bad to bully her and

3:her cousin goes to the same school and is fucking terrifying(I'll post her later)

Fun fact: she wears the oldest uniform of the school that was given to her by her Nana bc her parents didn't want to pay for a new uniform

Alex went to Academic for Young Scholars or AYS and he had similar things going on but he didn't notice them. It happened in the background and he wasn't affected even once.

Question: if you were the ones writing Homestuck, how would you (if you had to) make one of the human Kids a villainous Player like Eridan/Gamzee/Aranea/Caliborn?

This is an interesting query that was posed to me while I was talking about Jane's turn to evil; that in the original comic, only aliens were allowed to be evil, says the commenter. My reply was, I think, the best counterpoint:

A Kid, by necessity, has a minimum of 5 people (discounting aliens, which fluctuate based on the Kid) who would mourn them: two children or parents, and three characters they are introduced alongside, must have a functional enough relationship with to be introduced in a set and having dynamics with, and who would have to be betrayed by their tuen to evil. That's a lot of distinct character growth/grappling to have to fit into the comic *after* the betrayal.

So, this would clearly be a difficult task. But, if you *had* to make a Kid turn heel permanently as part of the original plot of Homestuck:

Who would it be?

Why would they do it, and when?

How would their friends cope with it?

Who would defeat them, and how?

And most importantly, how do post submissions work, and should this have been one?

I've been on this site for over a decade and I'm still not clear on how submissions work. Sometimes they make it look like the receiving blog made the post which is just confusing.

I don't know the details of what's going on in the epilogues/HS2 and please don't enlighten me, but my understanding is they have done this with Jane and Dirk, right? And those two do make the most logical sense. Jane is introduced with a lot of tensions around privilege, entitlement, and resentment. Dirk's carrying Bro's narrative ghost around with him (although having him succumb to that frustrates me as someone who emphasized treating different iterations as distinct people). They have the personalities that you would most expect to twist out of true, so I think they're the obvious pulls, even if I didn't like how the epilogue handled it.

But I disdain easy answers. Every once in a while I chase the thrill of taking the unexpected option and making everybody mad at me. So, I propose, why not Roxy?

The Beta kids are too tight knit; I can't see a heel turn within the main comic. (Frankly I would not blame Davesprite if he snapped but I do not think he would.) Dirk and Jane as I said are too easy. Jake is too busy getting buffeted around by everyone else's expectations; even if he had a heel turn I feel like it would somehow be inflicted by someone else. But Roxy, who increasingly became the narrative's golden girl? Roxy, who feels neglected and unloved and does not behave very well early on, leaving omissions and sly comments and pushing conversations other people are uncomfortable with, even if it's fucked up and she knows it?

To be clear, I don't think any of this behavior is evil. She's a teenager dealing with a level of isolation that would probably be considered cruel and unusual punishment, and she's struggling with an addiction to boot. I'm glad she overcomes these things. But there's an interesting and I think largely unexpected thread you could pull, if you wanted to push her in a different direction. After she kicks her habit, to be clear, I don't want this to be interpreted as a commentary on addicts.

What would that look like, exactly? IDK. Maybe she and John don't run into each other post-Game Over, and after she survives the retcon by catching a ride on LOWAS she starts using her powers to selectively edit what people remember and forget in an effort to make things go smoother but also cast herself as central to their narratives. As part of solidifying her hold on the main timeline she has to arrange the death of the other Roxy but justifies it because she's the one who knows what's going on. I feel like this is kind of an Aranea rehash, though.

I was never the Alpha kid expert, but I think Dirk would decide this was his fault somehow and his responsibility, but when he confronts her he can't bear to do anything and submits to being rewritten, because things have gone so catastrophically wrong twice with him as he is, so clearly he's not up to the task. Maybe John ends up using his abilities to send Roxy back to the doomed timeline, leaving a Void in the team and the timeline. Rose would not take any of this well.

But, to be clear, this is not a direction that would interest me personally. One of the reasons I took up TLC was I wanted to give these kids endings I found personally satisfying. Also I'm an adult and while some of these kids are pretty annoying sometimes, they are also 13/16 and I'm not invested in saying they're irredeemably evil villains who need to be struck down. I'd rather put them through suspiciously personally targeted ordeals that make them face up to their flaws. That's my narrative catnip.

I think Hoshino-sensei has been recovered for a while now, but that’s recovery with a grain of salt because, as far as I know, her problem is actually permanent and there’s no cure. You can only try not to go overboard so that it doesn’t hurt, but there’s no such a thing as taking it easy when you’re a manga author, so it doesn’t really surprise me that she’s starting a channel. Especially because DGM is unlikely to get any more anime sequels, so that’s probably one of the only ways of getting more visibility now. About the plot, it’s been lost to me for a long time now, but I still enjoy it. It’s a hot mess and I wanna see where it’ll go, lol.

Hopefully not a spoilers but at this point I think everyone has seen the rumours of lfjr being near the set for upcoming episodes because if his Instagram story post.

So just wanted to say that I think people need to realise that because Tommy has been the plot device for at least bucks misplaced feelings let alone buddie going canon, that from this point onwards now that they're broken up it's likely to only move that part of the plot forward.

I know he's made some really homophobic comments and also the way he's manipulated fans isn't okay so I do understand people wanting him gone asap.

But in the meantime just remember that relationship arc started with him saying 'my attention?' And ended with 'I'm your first not your last'.

(Not to mention Eddie physically third wheeling in most of their scenes; his line of ‘you’re not jumping ship are you’; Buck saying Eddie’s name 12x in the episode where the they kissed; Tommy saying ‘take Eddie and die’ - they made sure you could never remove Eddie from the narrative of their relationship for a reason)

I know procedurals can be crazy but no TV show is going to permanently bring back a relationship who has self proclaimed themselves out of the possibility of being an endgame.

So any time from now on that he's back on our screens i think people can be pretty confident that it’ll be to move Buck closer to realising that it was always about Eddie.

Scalding, unnecessary take that I'm going to use as an excuse to yap about my hyperfixation characters more than anything, but El's character is actually impossible to stick into coffee shop fanfiction No Supernatural Shit AUs. That's Jane you're writing about. Jane and El are not the same person. At all. And like, Jane is interesting to think about, don't get me wrong. I have thought about Jane. I love Jane. She's adorable and vaguely autistic. But Jane != Eleven.

Eleven is the way she is almost entirely because of her experience/trauma of growing up in the lab and having supernatural murder powers. Her main characters traits are being a self-sacrificing hero and not being sure who she is due to the fact she grew up in an isolated sterile inhuman environment. Unless you're directly translating those things into something unsupernatural (like growing up in a fucked up cult or something and like fighting her way out and now she'll fight to protect other people from similar experiences or something idk) you're writing about Jane the normal gorl who got to grow up with a normal personality in a normal world. And like, you can do that. It's fine it's fandom do whatever u want. But personally, the first thing I come up with when I birth an AU is what crazy powers and fucked up backstory we give Eleven here. Also how do we make her and everyone else really fucking cool but that...might be beside the point idk.

The powers have to basically ruin or have had ruined her life at one point. They have to be a curse that she either reclaims or gets rid of at the end. If she isn't tortured she isn't Eleven Stranger Things lmao

And then yeah yeah my next step is to figure out how Mike AND THE OTHERS OK but mostly Mike get involved in this. Which brings me to my next point: Jane and Mike have no real reason to talk to each other. Mike x Jane is just Normal Gorl x Normal Boy which is like, fine sure if that's what you want, but also you kinda just erased everything interesting about their dynamic. You wanna know what makes El and Mike's relationship so compelling? Objectively? I'm objectively right about everything I'm about to say here? Ok their dynamic is this: Eleven is the most important person in the world, and Mike is the only boy who will ever love her. And yeah that second one sounds really sad but 1. yeah it kinda is :) 2. its not really true that's just what El thinks which is like a major theme for her character TO ME, her underestimating how 'normal' she is esp in her later years 3. it also is kinda true because he's the only boy romantically interested in her who actually understands and experienced all the supernatural/lab trauma bullshit and is actively fighting beside her through the plot of the show, and 4. he's literally perfect and also the only boy she'll ever love and need so it all works out.

And to explain the first one, I mean, you know she's saved the world twice right? She kinda literally is the most important person in the world considering its up to her to stop the apocalypse probably in the end? But its not the being important exactly that makes Mike love her ok, that's more of a meta character thing. Like she doesn't have to literally be the key to saving the world and the most powerful being in the universe. Its more that she has to have something really special about her that draws Mike specifically to her and binds him to her permanently and inseparably and he belongs to her forever and ever and they die in each other's arms. Like she deserves. In canon I imagine objectively and correctly that it went like this: Mike is a natural outcast collector and protector due to his pervasive unconscious need to be needed and his fear of losing the few people who like him, who meets the ultimate outcast girl who literally has nothing and needs him in a very real way, and this gives him an excuse to just pour his entire self into her, fulfilling one of his deepest interpersonal needs. The best part is that she's super selfless and amazing and she loves him the same right back so its actually a beautiful thing they get going. Basically the idea of being anything less than perfect for her is so sad and horrible due to how fucked her life was that it drives the already caretaking Mike into overdrive to make her happy. Not at the cost of him still being an individual person, mind you. But that's the vibe. Also let me just say, all the self-sacrificing vibes and obsession and desperation can become toxic under certain circumstances and that is absolutely a feature not a bug. Sorry you don't like watching your faves yell at each other but we are not the same.

Anyway what the fuck was I talking about? AUs? Yeah ok so when translating Mike (AND THE OTHERS...and the others) into other stories there's more flexibility u kno because he's mostly just Some Guy. He really just needs (TO ME) an excuse to be fighting with Eleven (she has to be fighting something with the powers I know you gave her). He shouldn't be directly involved with whatever gave her the powers but he should generally know of and be somewhat affected by it. Or become aware of it/involved with it over time. Like in the show. You get it. Honestly his only real consistent character traits are being kinda moody and being the leader of the party in whatever vague or not way. And being intelligent. Like he has to be leader for a reason. I guess that's a decent base for a character right there.

oh right side note: you have to do something fun with her name. like she was basically branded Eleven by the freak that gave her the powers so u gotta take that energy and translate it into another branded name that has el in it because she needs to get the nickname ofc. unless its a cyberpunk au in which case Eleven is a pretty normal name and she can just go by that lmao.

So the point ig is Jane and Mike break up when they go away to different colleges and don't talk to each other again until their next high school reunion, while Mike and Eleven are...well you should know by now.
