I know we've reached critical mass with my the passenger obsession bc I'm at the point of thinking my favorite thing about the movie is the hopefulness scattered throughout. the way Randy hopes again and again that Benson won't hurt him and might actually help him. the way Benson hopes he really might be able to save this kid from himself. the point they reach where, just for a little bit, they both hope they have more time. the hopefulness of Randy trying to do the right thing, trying to save everybody. the hope of a little kid who wants to be a giraffe someday. the hardest part of the movie is when everything becomes bleak but it tries, at the very end, to be hopeful again. maybe Randy can still live for both of them, which is all Benson ever hoped for in the first place.

Rock Light / Mega Man:

Construction Purpose: Rock was built for housework and lab assistance after Light was severely injured in the 28/XX incident. After the first Wily Takeover, his fabricator was altered for combat, and his house duties fell to Roll.

Biggest Strength: He knows exactly what he fights for, and why.

Biggest Flaw: He tends to lose sight of himself in battle, focusing solely on his motivations regardless of what happens to him.

Weaknesses: His armour is built to withstand a variety of situations, but his Helper Unit origin makes him particularly susceptible to high voltage attacks.

Battle Style: Rock tries to be diplomatic and tactical about fighting, trying to talk his opponent down until the last possible moment. If talking isn’t an option, he likes to get things done as quickly and painlessly as he can. After all the battles he's fought, he's gotten quite good at spotting the weaknesses of Wily's robots.

Misc Notes:

Due to a malfunction in his colour changing software, the bottom of Rock’s hair has permanently turned blue-black.

He’s a very avid scrap-booker.

He stopped attending school in person after becoming Mega Man. Too much attention.

After Light became more self sufficient again, Rock started helping design the Robot Master’s cosmetics instead of helping to build them.

He gets along well with all the Light Numbers, but he’s closest with Cut Man.

The rollerblades aren’t retractable. He’s just that good on skates.

Despite insisting he doesn’t see any of the Wily bots as rivals, he actually does. It’s Top Man.

Even though he doesn’t really enjoy being Mega Man, he does like that people see him as a hero.

Rush Notes:

Roll built him, technically as a birthday present for Rock.

He’s a based on a border collie.

He was built from the broken pieces of item 1, 2 and 3, whilst Rock was recovering from his battles with Wily’s first numbers.

His serial number stands for Light Companion Number.

Varda smiled, looking at the young Noldo bowing nervously before her. Despite being named “the spirit of fire”, he wore pale blue and yellow, both clean narrow hues, but not too narrow, matching the outer colors of the Treelight surprisingly well for something made by an incarnate.

“I want to show you something, my lady.” There was a tone of anxiety in Feanáro's voice. Why? 

He pulled out an ornate box which shone richly from the inside and opened it—

They were beautiful. A harmony of two lights, resulting in a wide and balanced white, almost like a reflection of the light in her face. This brilliance was the fairest thing ever made on Arda, surpassing the glorious lights made by the Valar, even though it was born from two of them. Three gems in perfect harmony with each other. Almost too beautiful for this marred world, like a pure sound of a violin, narrow, and impossible for the imperfect beings to harmonize with.

She reached for them but stopped, waiting for permission. 

“I love them dearly,” said Feanaro apologetically. “But of course, if you wish to take a look at them, I would be honored… Forgive me, o queen, but I feel— I feel they are so vulnerable, so — they are near impossible to destroy and yet — I do fear for them.” The last part he was almost a whisper.

Varda nodded. Light could only shine where it could be touched, of course. And what could be touched could now also be hurt. Did the Elves not know it? It was difficult to distinguish what was new to them and what they would consider too obvious to even mention.

She studied the scared prince. The best she could do for him was to put some thin glass to protect the light a little and hope for the best. Half-measures, always half-measures. But that was the way with incarnates, wasn't it?

She took the gems and kissed them gently. They were warm and alive, even though unmoving, and they rejoiced seeing her.

No wonder Feanáro loved them.

“Neither evil nor hand unclean shall touch you and stay unharmed,” she said. “Nor a mortal man—” she paused, seeing the Elf’s expression. What was he surprised about? 

Anyway, the blessing was done, for good or for ill.

She kissed the gems farewell and gave them back to the prince. “Thank you.” 

She rarely spoke, indeed, but some occasions were worth it.

Ive obviously got strong opinions on retiring/unretiring familiars as a player who has bought a bunch of retired ones, including a light sprite. I liked collecting the familiars as a player who is arguably "rich", it felt like a good challenge and is largely achievable. Most of the retired familiars are well within the range of an average player saving up to buy them. There are only 6 familiars I believe the average player cant feasibly attain. One of which is a light sprite and the rest are KS/Beta tester familiars which will never be unretired (legal reasons etc). For me, i will likely never be able to get the KS/Beta familiars because there simply arent enough.

So there is a single familiar on site that is unachievable by most players while still being feasible for some to get for a larger challenge.

This is all subjective obviously but as there are no game play downsides to not owning one, you can fully bond with one and complete your bestiary without physically having a light sprite in your hoard thanks to fiona, youll never be able to convince me it should be unretired.

once again thinking about how growing up in that tomb affects cole's beliefs and ideals in raised by serpentine, more specifically the idea of the constrictai and tomb dwellers as this one big community where everyone gives to the collaborative effort. how that's reflected in cole's own friendliness and desire to Be Involved and Help Out even when he's with the ninja, how community and banding together are important to him. thinking about how earth masters have a semi-celebrated role in the community as Guardians and Pillars of Strength and Peace and Giving, how the legacy cole has to measure up to—one of selflessness and honor—further colors his decisions to the point where he almost fixates on the idea that one day he'll have to pay the ultimate price for the greater good—and how that idea fares against the reality of watching zane do exactly that in rebooted. i just.... augh. cole <3
