#idk it's neat. i thought maybe we'd get a more direct framing of 'we didn't see something was wrong with him (gibeon)'

I really find Rystal's reaction to Gibeon interesting.. especially in contrast to Terapagos or Rayquaza's reaction to him.
Rystal doesn't seem to blame him specifically for what happened, while Terapagos and Rayquaza both got angry at Amethio on separate occasions due to his resemblance to Gibeon which indicates that they personally hold him responsible for what happened. It highlights that the Pokemon have their own feelings and thoughts which can be different from how humans feel. The Six Heroes and Terapagos feel loyalty towards Lucius and his memory above all, while Rystal has different feelings on the matter.
Even the way Rystal brought up Gibeon at the end when Friede asked her where Rakua is, and she thought that Gibeon might know.. and then added that she doesn't know what happened to him after the events at Rakua while looking sad. She thought that they could ask him and considers him as someone they could potentially rely on (the way both Lucius and her did in the past). And her words indicate that she still thought about Gibeon after everything and probably lived without knowing if he survived or not. Rystal lost a friend that day too, on top of losing Lucius, Terapagos and the Six Heroes.
Really, the whole framing of the scene at Rakua felt interesting to me. Lucius tried to reason Gibeon, Gibeon didn't want to listen but he didn't directly attack Lucius or Rystal for disagreeing with his ideas. He was much more focused on the potential of the Rakurium, and the wild Pokemon turned ferocious by the Rakurium were more of an indirect consequence of Gibeon's actions than his intent. Gibeon didn't even see Lucius sacrificing himself either, since he fell in a ravine before that. It adds to the abruptness of the tragedy, everything went by so fast and they didn't exactly have time to exchange more words or truly process what happened.
#idk i like the nuance of the situation#all this time i thought gibeon knew or saw lucius's sacrifice but he actually didn't#and i thought maybe gibeon directly stood against lucius and rystal (ie attacking them)#but he didn't really either#characters letting their fascination for something get the better of them.. etc#makes me wonder how lucius would react to gibeon if he saw him now#idk it's neat. i thought maybe we'd get a more direct framing of 'we didn't see something was wrong with him (gibeon)'#or something along those lines.#but it felt more neutral in a way? and didn't chastise the characters for their attachment to gibeon i'd say#lucius#rystal#gibeon#hz075#character notes#episode notes
