a lot of media complaints about having a female character’s arc center patriarchy/sexism for being cliche or woke laziness is kinda… silly
#beans of consciousness#i saw someone compare wortri’s female characters to maki from jjk and they were like#im SO GLAD that none of wortri’s female characters have that girl power nonsense#idk it’s kinda silly esp because this is a japanese creator including elements of traditional patriarchy in japanese society#and using their character to convey that criticism#on a literary standpoint it works to make maki an effective foil to toji#both of whom are cursed energyless and hate their families#but maki being female may be one of the factors as to why she rejected the system more strongly than toji#yeah i will admit that invoking marginalization as a plot point a lot of times is written poorly esp bc usually the writer hasnt personally#experienced in that type of way or well versed in pol/soc commentary. so yeah. woke laziness#but a lot of people who loudly complain about this are coming from a place of discomfort or bias#rather than a critical lens
