TL;DR: I am critical of the content I consume and today’s critique is “alright you’re starting to annoy me so fuck this guy”, so I’m done with all that now, make of it what you will (about 8 paragraphs below if you actually wanna read it)

Those observant MAY have noticed that, in my bio as I’ve been adding and updating things, I have added “D///SMP” in my list of hyperfixations... but then over time, I changed it to “MC//YT”, then “Minecraft in general”, and it is now gone. Thought I’d clarify here:

Yeah, I did, extremely casually, watch that series. As in I started watching clips that popped up in my recommended, learned the entire story, popped in a stream or two and then would sporadically update my knowledge with new clips that would come out. Yknow, casually. I abide(d) by people’s usual DNI lists and such anyways.

I love the concept of using Minecraft as a storytelling medium!... to an EXTENT. Lots of my favorite old minecraft series all do the thing that is prone to happen on every server - something happens that kicks off a pseudo-roleplay and it’s all very fun. Since That One Series very much qualified, I was of course super interested and got into it, BUT. They kinda exchanged that whole natural things-happen-that-kick-off-other-things format for a straight-up script, to the point where one livestream had pre-recorded little cutscenes and such, and I’m not really into that!

And then I kinda got a bigger picture into how some particular people are and I’m not really into that either!

Literally one of the most important members/characters was already super upsetting for me because of their particular attitude and demeanor and such, but it all just kinda got worse as I learned more about some of the others or as they made more mistakes... we’re all human, of course! This is true! Cancel culture sucketh so I shall draw my own lines, and I draw them here. Especially for our titular member - if it isn’t clear I’m avoiding naming names so this doesn’t end up in any tags.

I enjoyed, and honestly would probably still enjoy, his content, for the extremely basic aspect in that I love the way he moves. I find it hard to watch some youtubers because I want them to pick up the pace, so of course a speedrunner is just heavenly and inspiring to watch jump around with ease, but I can get that same joy from like half the hermit///craft members without the guilt, so... yeah. That’s enough of that, I think. (slashes there are just to avoid the tags)

I could get WAY more into my thought process and things that have happened that made up my mind but instead I’m just gonna clarify - if you watch these guys, even far less casually than me, and you follow me then I don’t care all that much because my standards are so low you’d have to dig to be under them, just be mature and critical about it and you’re all good in my book. Just know that I don’t intend to create any content for it or talk about it all that much. If you engage me, I might, just because I am nothing but an index of knowledge and quotes and making references is just What I Do, but I’ve wrung out all the joy I can get from it.
