I like to think his name is Dorian :3 leakers were digging in the files a while back and found out that the texture for his model is called “Dorian” so that’s where it came from. Dorian is Greek for “gift”, but also comes from the name Doerain, which means “wanderer” or “exile” which I think is sad but fitting LMAO. (Dorian is also in reference to Oscar Wilde’s novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray. If ur interested u should look into it, bc I’d butcher the summary lol)

I like to think that bros a more feral version of Albedo. Albedo is domesticated, Dorian is not HFHDH. He’s much easier to anger, but he wouldn’t put up a fight unless provoked or attacked first.

The reason…he was never trained in any kind of sword fighting style. He can swing a sword around but there’s a 1/99 chance that it would actually hurt someone.

I gave him a Cryo vision bc I mean. Just look at him. That pathetic little mess of a guy is the archetype for Cryo. I like to think he’s a catalyst user (and his best weapon is “Frostbearer” and he relies on it more than his sword hehe. Playstyle wise I’d make him scale off of ATK to contrast Albedo’s DEF scaling)

For his relationships, he prefers Klee’s more upbeat and bouncy nature. She doesn’t seem to mind that he’s not Albedo, and treats him like a brother regardless. He’d take her fishblasting any day <3

Albedo…he’s wary around. Even if they were to make up and all that, his vibe around would probably be very much the feeling you get when you go over to a friend’s house and you feel like you have to impress their parents in order to be allowed in. Does that make sense?? Basically he’s walking on eggshells even if Albedo tells him he’s fine LMAO

While he’s made his appearance a bit different from Albedo (red/maroon/black color scheme, hair either down on his shoulders or in a low and messy braid, and a little thinner than Albedo due to Albedo having built up muscle from sword-wielding), sometimes he switches back to Albedo’s form to mess with people. Specifically the Traveler. He’s a little prankster!!

Even tho he’s used to the cold, he loves warmth. U light up a fire and Dorian will sit so close his hair will singe at the edges. He also loves spicy food <3 (when he lived in Dragonspine he ate like. Unseasoned roasted meat and snow. So he craves any kind of flavor now)

I hc him as aro-ace, and also nonbinary for some fics I write :D I mostly do that just to differentiate between Albedo and him (I write him without a name sometimes so using the “he/him” pronouns twice over without stating who’s speaking is very complicated so I use “they/them” for ease of reading) but also bc I feel like. After 500 years of sleeping in poison dragon tummy soup, one would sort of dissociate from the whole gender thing.

Idk what to say there, just know that your HCs are valid! Some of them, like how rocky his relationship with Albedo is, are something i do think of too! Like yeh they cool, but that doesn't erase the fact Albedo is the favourite child. And and and the fact he likes flavours like spicy- I think he doesn't like very sweet things either

I totally feel you, anon. Gender is confusing enough, but then theres gender presentation to navigate with the added pressure of society and your surroundings. Its hard enough to be trans, but to really separate yourself from not only the expectations that come with the sex you were assigned at birth, but also the expectations people have for being trans and gender conformity, feels sometimes impossible.

Heres the thing though: your transition is for nobody other than yourself. Transition comes in many levels: the social aspect, the medical aspect, even just in the smaller things of switching up the way you present, and there is no "universal endgoal" or "ultimate transition". Some people do the whole thing, they medically transition, they change their name legally and tell everybody "these are my pronouns". Others might not even tell people about their trans identity, might not seek any transition.

Transitioning is this... soup, and you gotta decide what you wanna put in it, y'know? I know a trans woman who doesn't want the surgeries, but is planning to go on estrogen when she's finally able. I know a man who's currently starting T and is doing all the consults, I know men who've gone on HRT but dont want top surgery or bottom surgery. There's nonbinary people who still love dressing "femininely"/"masculinely" regardless of their pronouns or agab or whatever.

Hell, a transition goal of mine is to be able to wear a skirt comfortably, to do makeup and have a beard. Some might not even change their name, some might bind so they can wear a dress or tuck so they can wear a suit.

Throughout all this, you don't owe anyone shit. You dont owe anyone, cis or trans, any sort of "conformity" to what they expect of you, because I can say two things with 100% certainty; 1) you are never gonna please everyone 2) it is absolutely none of their goddamn business what you do with your body, your gender, your presentation.

So, while you're navigating gender, transition, and all the wonderful things that come with it, make sure you're asking yourself what you want out of this, because that is what matters.

I think a really hard thing about navigating this stuff- for me, at least, and its entirely possible your experience is different- is that it feels really lonely trying to explore this stuff. Especially on tumblr, where there's all this pointless discourse on whether trans people are "deserving" of respect or transition, its really hard to figure out what you want when sometimes it feels like the world is telling you that no, you have to be this, but trust yourself.

Some people, when they delve into this, find that the way they see themselves, the way they identify and their wants out of transition change, and some people's views stay the same. Whatever way you go, remember that other people's opinions and however you may grow and change through this do not dictate the validity of your gender identity or experience.

You will always know yourself better than anyone else, you know what you want, you know who you are and your identity. There is not a person who gets to play "mind reader" and determine they know you better than that.

MINI BIOGRAPHY:

Born and raised in New York City to two professors, Oliver has always had a sort of middle child syndrome. Their older sister is a submissive, their younger brother a dominant, and he’s always been right in the middle of them, never quite as good as either of them. They were the problem child smacked in between two golden children, never good enough in school, sports, or hobbies as their siblings were. 

Because of that, their young adulthood was mostly made up of acting out - he got a stick and poke tattoo that said baby, done by one of his friends, on his bicep just to get yelled at - he craved at least some attention from their parents. If the only way to earn their attention was to do so negatively, so be it. The only time they truly felt a rush in their life was when they almost failed sophomore year chemistry. 

Between their 18th birthday and the time they moved out, they learned that they could earn some attention by purposely avoiding submission. Did it feel awful? Yes, but at least it got them some matzo ball soup and the order to find someone to get him out of this slump. 

By the time college rolled around, they stayed in the city, going to the City College of New York, studying public relations, until he decided that he was bored with it almost three years in; that they didn’t like their life in New York and what it was turning out to be. That’s when he packed up his things and moved to Silver Creek, wanting to leave his life behind. After all, what’s more different from New York City than a small town in Maine? And here, at least, his parents or siblings can’t push them to be more - or better - than they are. He got an apartment where he could live on his own, found a job, and has lived in town for the past four years. 

When things come to submission, they don’t really like submitting. People have told him that it’s because he hasn’t found the right dominant, and they don’t fully believe them. So he submits when he starts to feel sick, but prefers to avoid it outside of that. It’s also easier to avoid conversations about how they’re okay with being called boy and terms associated with that during scenes, but that they aren’t a boy if they just scene minimally. 

They’re a dog person, like the concept of doing pottery as a hobby (but not in practice, they’re awful at it in practice), and dabbles in photography but doesn’t claim to be good at that, either. Really, if he could spend all of his free time being with his friends, he would in a heartbeat. They’d also volunteer at animal shelters, but won’t talk about that, either. They have a stubborn appearance to keep up, after all.

While at work, they try their best to make people happy, if only because he can’t handle being yelled at by near-strangers. Is he happy to be there, though? Not really. It’s not their passion. But that’s fine! Most things in life aren’t his passion. That’s the outlook they’ve kept for the last four years, at least.

Friends! He’s lived in town for four years, he’s bound to have some friends by this point. They might get up to shenanigans, or smoke in town square, or really just listen to music and talk about life together. Whatever it is, Oliver’s a very loyal friend and he plans to remain that way for the rest of their life.

Some answers are long, so I’m gonna put it under the cut.

1. Apples or bananas? Apples (specifically granny smith or gala).

2. Favorite season and why. Autumn. I love the crunchy leaves, the pretty colors, sweater weather, hot apple cider, late thunderstorms, Halloween... basically, the aesthetic of fall is The Best and I really like pumpkin spice and pecan pie, both of which are hard to find outside of the season.

3. TV or movies? Hmm... I like how short tv episodes are but I also really enjoy cinemaphotography... So both?

4. Would you rather eat one thing for the rest of your life or be able to drink whatever you wanted? Drink what ever I wanted. I would get so bored of eating the same thing by like day four I’d regret everything.

5. Favorite song(s) and why. My dude, why. Okay here goes (in no particular order):

- “Waltz of the Flowers”, Tchaikovsky. It’s just really peaceful and relaxing for me, and I like to imagine dancing to it in a pretty ball gown with the love of my life (who I have to find...). It also makes me think of peaceful nature walks.

- “Wait For It”, Hamilton: An American Musical. Idk the lyrics just really hit home for me. Like, “I’m not falling behind or running late/ I’m not standing still/ I’m lying in wait” just helps me calm my anxiety that I’m not doing enough with my life. I really identify with Burr, honestly, for a greater part of the story. (But I’m opinionated af.)

- “Stars” from Les Mis, Collabro. Chills. Everytime. I love it so much.

- “Carol of the Bells”/”Wizards in Winter”, Trans Siberian Orchestra. My Christmas/winter holiday jams, and therefore I am lumping them.

- “No Place Like Home”, Todrick Hall. The beat, the tempo, the lyrics... and the message is rebellious and I love it.

- “Expensive”, Todrick Hall. It makes me feel badass and hot af.

- William. Idk I just really like the name William. It sounds kinda regal, but also common.

- Stevie. Considering it as my chosen name bc nicknames have gotten Out of Control with my college friends and I’ve never really liked my birth name. Long story short, we each have Avenger/Marvel nicknames (Save our dear Indy, for Indiana Jones) and I’m Steve. Cue gender dysphoria and never liking my name anyway, and suddenly I’m JaysaSteve and considering calling myself Stevie bc it’s gender neutral. Whoops.

- Anastasia. It is just a really pretty name imo. It also means ‘resurection’ which is pretty neat.

- Charlie. It’s neutral -- is it short for Charolotte? Charles? Who knows!

- Basically any name that’s unusual or not common. There’s a lot of names I like because they sound pretty to me. Others I like because of their meaning.

10. Tell me a story. *screams for an hour* 

Okay, story time. Every fall, the ladies in my family (and before I went to college me as well) go up to Warrens, WI, aka Cranberry Country, for Cranberry Fest. My first year was when I was in fifth grade. We got to the fest at about 7 am and started wandering through the rows upon rows upon rows of vendors’ tents. We came across one (that I now know is there every year) that sold shawls and covers and the like. I found a sheer black shawl with orange jack-o-lanterns on it. Since Halloween was approaching and is my favorite holiday, I thought about buying it. It cost $15 or $20, I think. But, since I had maybe $100 for the day and it was only about 8 am, my mom said I should wait, just in case I found something I wanted more later in the day. We could always come back.

So I decided to wait, and we left the tent. We fought down the rest of the aisle that was packed with people, but before we reached the end, an elderly lady got our attention and stopped us. She had a plastic bag in her hand.

I don’t remember exactly what she said, or really even what she looked like, but I’ve never forgotten her. 

She said she had seen me looking at the shawl in the tent, and that I really liked it, but then I walked away. She had hurriedly bought the very shawl I had been looking at, then rushed to catch up with my mom and I before we got lost in the crowd.

In the bag was the shawl. She gave it to me, a gift simply from the kindness in her heart. She expected nothing in return, just that someday I’d pass the kindness on to someone else.

When we caught up to my aunt and grandma at the end of the aisle, my mom had to tell them what had happened because I was crying.

People can be cruel, and that sticks with us, sure. But this lady did something kind simply because she could, and thought that I should have this pretty shawl that I had looked at with slight longing.

(Oh jeez, I’m crying now, almost 10 years later.)

11. Do you like where you currently are in life? No. I’m impatient to get to were I want to be (not living with my parents, a job I like, successful as a writer, an urban apartment, maybe not living in the US, living life as the nonbinary person I am and hanging out with friends...) and I’m just frustrated. I feel a little trapped, and I can’t express my gender at home because my family doesn’t understand nor do they really try to. I know I’m meant for bigger things but I just can’t get there *clentches fist*.
