okay hi

did i promise to make an art... lore dump post literally last month? yes. did i not do it for nearly a month? also yes. and im Very Sorry.

anyway! onto the ranting

So starting off with the obvious, Nanehi's color scheme is based off of the Shawnee tribe's flag!

Obviously more desaturated, but the blue sweater and two yellow stars were meant to show that he's native.

Alright, going in page order I'm just gonna throw around some easter eggs or fun facts or commentary...whatever....

Because this is the only good image I can find of it, Nane wears his parents' wedding bands on a necklace. Because his parents are divorced </3

On page 2, Nane has a poster up on his wall which is my current sketchbook cover in my art class. I believe it's somewhere on my art blog

Nane has a ziptie on his backpack! It doesn't mean anything.

Page 6: The white text that says "what?" is actually a reference to the first debut of Nane - an askblog!

(technically his first word was "huh" but i changed it to what for plot's sake)

Continuing with the black spaces on page 6, the panicked eye doesn't really mean anything. However, the twisted light switch was supposed to represent the noose that shows up at the end of the comic.

For page 7, there's obviously the audience design to talk about, but the things I actually wanna focus on are:

The doodle on the top left, which is Nanehi saying that he thinks he has tinnitus [which he then goes on to immediately deny in the next page]

And the doodle on the bottom right. His fursona is a bunny and if I could, I would've tried to fit more bunny imagery into the comic. But alas :pensive:

Page 13: All the different colored text were the responses I got from a select few people. I showed them the previous panels of the page and asked them what they wanted [there is one distinct person I didn't ask but I will get to them later].

I also want you to keep the... 3rd shade of green in mind [the "i want to see where this goes"]

For this panel on page 15, I wanted it to be known that Nanehi isn't a real person, and they know it. Everyone else's face is squared, even the simply doodled character in the background and the barely visible person in the foreground. Everyone except Nane.

Page 16: Man that's just mold on his shower curtain.

Page 17: There's actually a lot I want to talk about with page 17. Firstly, the design of The Audience. It changed, clearly. Before it was that weird circle thing, but now it's more humanoid - to the point of having hair similar to Nanehi's. The reason being, it's not entirely The Audience anymore. It's The Creator too. Nanehi was based off my fear of being watched and constantly having an audience. The little amount of comfort that the figure gives was... sorta supposed to be an apology to the character- as cheesy as that sounds.

(Also the fact that their text originally said "didn't they already answer that" but was crossed out to say 'we'. The Creator disguising themself as The Audience. And truly, what is to separate them?)

Another thing I want to point out is the dark grey panel. It's the same shade of grey I used for the askblog, and he's smiling in that panel, because during the askblog he was much happier around the audience- or the concept of them, rather.

And then of course, the dark blue text that reads "I know how this ends." That actually wasn't a response I took from someone, but rather a piece of... I guess dialogue, that I felt like someone would say. That specific someone being my friend Classi, who was the only person besides me that knew how Watcher ended. Purely because she had a very similar character and we thought that they'd be buddies.

On page 18, we have 3 entire panels in a different style. That being the style of the askblog.

On page 19 we have this panel, which you can probably assume what it is. It, I suppose, could both be seen as Nane standing, back to the audience, or as Nane hanging without the noose. You choose.

And of course, the last page. For some reason this fucks me up. Because this is The Creator talking to Nanehi. The Creator knows that Nane has no say in how their story ends, but they're given the illusion of control, because that's all they've been looking for. They wanted control over something, so the only way to prove such control was to show The Audience that they could end the story whenever they wanted. He doesn't know that he was talking to The Creator, he just assumed it was still The Audience. He doesn't know that he didn't really have a say.

This was what he wanted. That's how he's ending the story

Sooooooo, what do you think of TGAA1? How are ya feeling--?

Oh I absolutely loved it. The other Ace Attorney games I haven't actually gone into blind (and I'm not making an active effort to avoid spoilers for Investigations, Dual Destinies, or Spirit of Justice, but I do steer towards avoiding anything too major or anything I can figure out the context of easily) but I went into TGAA basically only knowing character names (and, vaguely, personalities) and I've been actively trying to avoid spoilers. It is much more fun going into Ace Attorney games completely blind (especially when that game includes Herlock Sholmes. It's a lot more fun not knowing what to expect from him).

It's weird though, the entire time I've been playing it I've kinda forgotten it's an Ace Attorney game, even though court sequences are basically identical to every other Ace Attorney game. I'm pretty sure it's because of the setting (Victorian England with some steampunk elements and Meiji era Japan), but it feels so different from every other Ace Attorney game. That Victorian England with steampunk elements setting is part of the reason I love it so much though, I absolutely love the aesthetic of steampunk Victorian England.

I've always kinda understood that TGAA has its own kinda sub-fandom (and I guess you could argue that for the Investigations duology and the Phoenix Wright/Apollo Justice trilogies too, it's just not as obvious to me as TGAA's sub-fandom is) and I can absolutely understand why. It feels so different from the other games.

I was also correct all the way through about my mentality basically amounting to "came for Sholmes, staying for Sholmes" lmao. He is truly the character ever and I absolutely love him. You never know what to expect with him, it's always "alright so what's he doing now" when you see him in the background and it's literally never the thing you expect. Perfect for a Sherlock Holmes parody/expy honestly.

Also I would sell my soul for a Herlock Sholmes game where you play as Sholmes and just do investigations. I think it'd be really fun

EDIT: I never mentioned how I'm feeling, I'm feeling great, if a little like how many hours I've put into the game is unhealthy lol. It's keeping my mind occupied though so that's a good thing at least.

Juno is important. according to AJHQ on their insta, Juno is NOT an alpha but an ancient hero, which is interesting, because if Juno isn't an alpha, then canonically the arctic wolves has no alpha. for my AU, i've been considering reviving Juno, not because of author's bias, but because narratively, Juno is THE protector of Balloosh, the newest land added to the game. and I don't want to create an Arctic wolf alpha bc

A: shamans can't create anymore shamans after the phantoms (which i'm changing a bit)

B: that's boring

C: the implications of bringing someone from the past back to the present is somewhat horrifying

but yeah, Juno is OLDER than the shamans, and in my au I said "nuh-uh" because I couldn't think of a way of Juno being older that fits the timeline. correction, I just didn't like it.

in the game, they have two major connections to presumably (100%) dead alphas; Star and Fang, the direwolf and sabertooth alphas respectively. Fang is unimportant, and Star is mildly more important than Fang.

Now, while Balloosh really shines in the Juno Era to the Hexagram Era, it existed as far back as the Culture Era, if we're talking about it being established. the land Balloosh was established on most likely existed in the early history eras.

but anyway, to make sense of Peck, Greely, Gilbert, Liza, Graham, and Cosmo being the original six shamans, Star and Fang will no longer be shamans. they'll be important figures, like pack leaders (did sabertooths and direwolves form packs??), but not shamans. Juno doesn't exist here.

Star and Fang are older than the six in terms of age, just to establish that. Juno is younger in age. So how does Juno come to exist?

they're a gift from Mira. prior to this, Star and Fang joined their packs together and wandered just like that, a massive culmination of canine and feline. this most likely takes place in the Dominion Era, so collaboration between different species was unheard of. Star, Fang, and their pack was shunned, pushed to the far marshlands, but Mira had a sort of respect for it. so she gifted them Juno in the form of a feather.

this is also why Juno is nonbinary. they weren't created with a gender. (also they didn't feel entirely comfortable with gendered pronouns later in life)

these marshlands would also later become Balloosh, founded by Star, Fang, and Juno.

but anyway, Star carries around the feather with a piece of twine, treating it as the second coming of God, whilst Fang leads the pack with one of the leaders fixated on a feather. Fang found it redundant, and he always scolded Star for it, but Star herself did not care about what he had to say. Mira respected them. Respected them! if it wasn't obvious, this is from Star's point of view. to Fang, he acknowledged the feather as a gift, but felt that Mira's attention was fleeting. ultimately, in some way, shape, or form, he wasn't entirely wrong.

one day, during the Settlement Era, the feather glowed as bright as the sun, and soon it grew legs, and fur, and ears, and oh god it's a pup now. this pup was baby Juno, the arctic wolf born from a feather. Star and Fang became parents, almost. they were both a bit feral for Juno more tame demeanor, but they loved Star and Fang nonetheless.

I've cooked long enough. It's time to share some TADC ideas I've had for Wally to keep myself sane.

Wallys 'character' is of a puppet. It looks and feels like felt even though he's technically a digital program within the digital circus. He's short, standing at 3ft tall which also makes him incredibly light. He's prefect for being picked up and thrown.

Wally keeps to himself. Preferring quiet. Will join on the adventures sometimes if he's feeling it. However he isn't one for extremely chaotic ones that involve 'death' and 'killing'. They aren't for him personally.

He gives of vibes of being a human trapped with the circus, yet at times it feels like he isn't with how ominous he can be. It's almost as if he's an AI himself or an NPC who knows more than he should. He claims he's a human though like everyone else. They're certain he is. Just... How long has he been here again?

On this topic. He's seen a lot of visitors come and go. Because he's barely around at times, it's easy to forget he's there and still 'alive' within the circus. He thinks it's amusing when people are surprised to see him still around.

His room is rather simple. Two arch shaped windows on the seemingly overlooking a town. The imagery of the town seems to glitch and look pixelated sometimes. There's a big red chair in the middle with a little table with a phone on it. The phone rings sometimes. Answering it and you hear either static, glitching or faint muffled whispers. and in the corner there is a that doesn't look rested in at all. Throughout it there's plenty of art supplies scattered or various mediums. But painting seems to dominate everything followed by crayon drawings.

It seems the digital circus can't handle his paintings sometimes when he goes into extreme detail. Causing them to glitch out in someway. Sometimes into nonexistence. Other times into the floor or wall. It's hard to tell in this place. In worst case scenarios it seems the code glitches to the point the inanimate object comes alive... Or maybe that's Caines doing?

He doesn't believe that there is a way out. That once you're here that is you until you eventually abstract! Or the AI get bored of you and decide it's time to 'delete' your avatar.

Day 1

I guess I never talk about myself, not genuinely. I always tell people what I like, all my favorite shows and books. And I love asking questions, I like learning about other people. I love forests and sunsets and crackling fires. I love the smell of burnt wood, the feel of dirt and grass digging between my toes, wind messing my hair like playful toddler.

That's what I tell people, and it's all true but only talking about the happy things is all false as well. I don't really know the line between being optimistic and living a lie...

Ah well.

School's about to start, I need to text my friend. I can feel a thick cloud weighing in the back of my head in that compartment where his emotions are - or my connection to his emotions. My secret is I can't stop feeling peoples' emotions if I ever "mentally link" with them.

I don't usually talk about that, it's secret because it kind've scares people and then I can't stop feeling their discomfort. So you see it's very selfish when I try to help others. I need to to stay happy.

I message him and we talk for a while. He tells me a close friend almost died last night. I don't tell him I already felt that, and the sheet of emotions made my head hurt. Instead I listen. I tell him he has every right to break down, he deserves to take a break and let himself feel it and process. He doesn't have to always be ok. It's ok to be hurt and to lean on someone else.

I tell him it will be ok.

Is what I thought, when I started this over a month ago.

Reasons why I should've drawn only Triple Threat, rather than the entire Chain, is that this probably would've taken like, 3 or 4 weeks less than it actually did :D. (..that's not true, more like 2 weeks probably.) Ahaha

Still, I'm very happy with how this turned out!! :D

Warriors: Gay, painfully single. 

Time: Ambiguously queer, for the purposes of this art I thought genderqueer fit well. Ofc he's married to Malon.

Wind: Queer/Gay (He and Tetra are queer platonic besties to me) I didn't really wanna assign too much to him though since he's like, 14, so he just got a rainbow.

Twilight: Pansexual. Used to have a crush on Midna, later develops a relationship with Shad?? Idk, he can do whatever he wants.

Sky: Bisexual, Polyamorous. Man is totally dating both Sun and Groose.

Four: I have no idea what Four is. Vio is gay, Shadow is gay, Blue and Green are not into romance, and Red is pan. Demiromantic I guess, for all of Four? But like Four would never date anyone cuz the colors. So I just went with a rainbow.

Legend: Transgender, gay, asexual. My headcanon says he's married to Ravio. (For tax reasons, ofc.)

Hyrule: Aroace!! (Aromantic asexual). I'm sorry but I cannot imagine this little fae dating anyone. Queer platonic relationships with the Zeldas though? I can see that.

Wild: Bigender. I also headcanon him as polysexual but I forgot that I headcanoned him as that until literally writing this bit so uh... I forgot to add it to the image. Oh well.

"aren't you looking mighty fine today?" a familiar voice called out to you, the tone laced with tease. you immediately froze at the comment, too busy calming your racing heart that began to surpass the limits of beats per minute. "gosh, makes me wanna have you all to myself."

"nice joke," you mumbled. you took in deep breaths, quite hyper aware that your face is flushing redder than a tomato. "get back to practice, lara."

"aw, are you blushing, y/n?" her arm wrapped itself around your waist and pulled you closer. as if you weren't already close enough...

"no? what're you on about." you tried to break free from her hold, only to have her pull you back. as the warmth of her chest seeps into your back, your breathing falters and your heart began to stutter.

"lara, let go."

"you're so worked up today. what's wrong, hm?" she whispers, her voice leaving a tingling sensation on your skin. you let out a shuddering breath as you looked down to see her hands clasped on your stomach, the fabric of your sweatshirt wrinkling due to how tight lara was holding you against her.

"you two! stop flirting and get back to practice," sophia shouted, having been fed up with the lack of focus. what a save, you thought to yourself. lara reluctantly let go– but not without a pout, and went back to her position in the back.

"you enjoyed that, didn't you?" megan teased.

"great, another one." you rolled your eyes, your hands on your hips. what's with everyone and teasing nowadays? megan gave you a sympathetic pat on the back, something you don't need at the moment.

"why won't you tell her how you feel?"

"it's not that easy, meg. if she doesn't feel the same, everything will be ruined."

"stop being so negative would you?" despite megan's best efforts to play off the situation, you still can't help but feel your heart burning with want. you want to be able to hold lara's hand just because. you want to finally be able to kiss those lips you've been dreaming of at night.

and more importantly, you want to be able to call her yours. call her yours and say 'i love you' forever.

you lightly cursed under your breath when the keypad beeped too loud as you entered the passcode, hoping it didn't wake an of the girls. you held the handle and turned it, pushing the door inward to enter the house.

taking off your shoes and leaving them at the entrance, you tiptoed through the hall to make your way to your shared room with yoonchae and sophia. the leader might scold you later but all you need to do is to make it back in one piece.

"ahem."

"fuck." you turned around to see lara standing at her doorway, her duck onesie basically asking, urging, you to laugh and wake up the whole house. she raises an eyebrow, seemingly demanding to know where you were to be back this late. "i...was at a friend's house?"

did it seem convincing? no, definitely not with the way you were dressed.

did you try to make it seem convincing? well yes! you always gave your best.

"like hell you were." she looked at you up and down, and you swear, swear on your life, that she was checking you out rather than just looking at you outfit. "where were you? who were you with? you reek of alcohol..." she trails off, every gear in her head turning to know where you could've possibly be at this late into the night.

"ok, look. i was at some get together. it's no big deal, i got a little intoxicated but–"

"i don't care what you were doing. who were you with?" she interrupted you.

"why does that matter?" you furrowed your brows, your patience thinning by the second this conversation went on. "why do care about who i was out with?"

"y/n, just tell me! it's not that hard." her voice raised in volume and you hear sheets shuffling from yoonchae and sophia's room. you secretly crossed your fingers, playing out your cards, hoping that the leader didn't wake up.

"and it's not hard to tell me why you're so nosy about my life!"

"can't i be worried? you're probably hanging out with the wrong people if you're sneaking out!" lara exclaimed. now you're seething. how can she make assumptions like this? especially knowing how you were with people.

"tell me why you're suddenly caring now? out of all the times that you snuck out, i never once mentioned it. i never asked you who you were out with, what you were doing, all that nonsense. that's because i know you!"

lara was taken aback, the way you snapped was foreign almost. your calm, collected demeanor faded right before her eyes and she doesn't know what to do. your chest heaved in anger, your eyes began to get tingly and your vision turned blurry.

"why're you acting all jealous now?" your voice got quieter as tears prickled at the corner of your eyes. great, now the alcohol was getting to you.

"what do you mean?" lara questioned.

"what i mean is," you paused, wiping the tears from your eyes. "why are you only acting jealous now? i tried and tried to get you to be jealous by being close to the girls but nothing ever worked."

"and maybe, i thought you didn't feel the same way, but god fucking damnit, lara! you say one thing and your body language says the other."

"you– you like me?" she pointed a finger at herself and you shake your head. she didn't get the point. maybe she never will.

"fuck liking you, i love you."

lara's face fell and you hope she finally understood the reasons why you look at her like she hung the stars. like she hung your stars. the stars that hang in your sky and spell out her name.

"you're such an idiot." and with that, you turned around and went into your room, leaving lara to stand by herself to process everything you just said. you didn't pay attention to the empty bed on yoonchae's side, or the missing pair of noise canceling headphones on your desk, or sophia's bed having more than one person in it.

you had enough for tonight.

"good night, y/n." despite being muffled by yoonchae's hoodie, sophia's voice still rang through the silent room. it buzzed through your ear like another pop-up ad.

"good night, soph."

the next few days were awkward for you, lara, and everybody else. they all heard the conversation you two had, and no one dared to bring it up, not even the mighty leader. wherever lara stayed was where you would leave. you couldn't even bear to stay alone with her for a minute.

"hey, me and the girls are going out." daniela briefly told you as she put on her shoes. you stopped midway bringing the spoon full of cereal to your mouth, looking to the side to see everybody dressed up— but no lara.

oh no.

"im coming with–"

"no. your ass is staying here to work things out with lara." manon pointed an accusing finger at you, only putting it down aftee being told to by sophia. yoonchae only waved to you, quickly leaving because she wanted shotgun, the others racing after her.

"but–"

"you'll do what i say, y/n," sophia said before going out the door, completely leaving you alone with a sleeping lara in her room.

"well shit," you cursed. you hurriedly finished your cereal, placing it in the sink then rushing to your room. if you were in your safe haven, then no one can bother you until everybody gets home. great idea.

it was, in fact, not a great idea. when lara woke up, you heard her go into the bathroom to get ready for the day despite it already being twelve in the afternoon. you know her morning routine step by step, so after washing up, she'll definitely get breakfast. definitely.

she'll pass by your door, thinking you went with the others. you just need to stay quiet-

"i know you're in your room, y/n."

what. the. fuck.

"sophia told me you're here." of course she did. you slowly got up from your place on the floor, quietly sliding over to the door. "open the door."

your hand reached out but it never quite made contact with the handle. your nerves got to you. what if this go wrong? what if your friendship never goes back to how it was? what if, what if, what if...

"if you don't open this door, i will."

well, you can't have a broken door, can you? you finally held onto the handle, turning it and slightly opening the door, peeking out the crack to see lara.

"what?" you asked.

"let me come in."

"no."

"y/n, im serious."

"...fine." you stepped back and opened the door wider, allowing her to come inside. she sat on the beanbag on the floor, so you sat on the bed furthest away. neither of you wanted to address the elephant in the room, brushing off the actual elephant plushie sitting on yoonchae's bed.

"you're wearing my sweater?" lara started. you blushed and looked down to see that indeed, you were wearing her sweater than you stole from her.

"what about it?"

"nothing."

a beat passed and none of you said anything else. the silence was awkward and it was slowly killing a part of you. the part of you that wants to rush over and jump into her arms. the part of you that wants to tell her all your pent up feelings.

"so, you like me?"

"love, but who cares. wasn't it obvious?" you looked at her, her gaze meeting yours without even meaning to do so. you look away, but she doesn't. she keeps staring like you were the one who created her world.

"then it should've been obvious that i love you too."

"hm?!" you face scrunched up in confusion, looking like an frowning kitty. "you what?"

"i love you too, idiot." lara rolled her eyes, leaning back into the beanbag. "it developed when you stopped sleeping over in my room. i think it was because i missed having you as a pillow."

you couldn't help but chuckle, quickly collecting yourself and returning your face back to neutral. "why didn't you say anything?" the question was a bit hypocritical but you had a good reason for why you chose to stay silent about your feelings.

"better question, why didn't you?"

"i was scared. i mean i had every right to be. look at you, then look at me. a gorgeous girl and adam sandler female version," you confessed. your fingers fidgeted with the hem of her sweater, loose threads everywhere but you love it.

"what if i told you i like the way you look?"

"quit lying for once."

"im not." lara got up and walked over to you, sitting down right next to you on the bed. the mattress dipped from the added weight. "you're really pretty. if anything, i should've been the one who was scared to make a move."

"yet you made every move in a chess guide book."

"stop flaming me, would you?" she laughed, making you laugh along as well. she took in a deep breath, turning her head to look at you. "im sorry for getting a little nosy that night."

"forgiveness pending.."

"and that's fine." her hand found yours in the middle, intertwining your fingers with her's. her hands feel cold. she scoot in a little closer, her hips making contact with yours. "you'll forgive me in the end, right?"

"whatever helps you sleep at night." you joked. she lightly smacked your arm but even so, she still gave a little giggle.

"what does this mean? labels and all."

"we'll figure it out." you turned you head to finally face her, the distance between your faces just inches away. "but what we know for sure right now is..."

"that we can officially kiss and make up?" lara perked up, a little too hopeful. you smile, leaning in.

"yeah, sure. let's go with that." your lips finally connected with hers and goodness, you wished you spoke up a little sooner because kissing her felt just right. it felt like cereal and milk for breakfast, or a fancy steak dinner on an anniversary. or chocolates and flowers on valentine's day. everything perfect can't even sum up to the feeling of this.

and nevertheless, you want the feeling to remain the same forever and ever. in this life or another.
