JUST FOR YOU... I will reveal all the homestuck characters i’ve had crushes on because my homestuck phase (phase should be in scare quotes because it never *really* left but shhhh). i didn’t know what f/os were at the time but if i did they would have all been f/os

aradia. i drew her face badly on one of my pillow cases in permanent marker and slept cuddling it. i still own the pillow case and cant get it off

dave. i had a two year long WILDLY out of character demonstuck roleplay with a rando that was my main source of comfort during a rough patch at school. i woke up at 6am so i could spend an hour before catching the train roleplaying. i roleplayed from when i got home til i fell asleep, often at my laptop. i am so mad the site died and i didn’t save the logs. they were absolutely abysmal but they would have been so funny & nostalgic to look over

i also lusted for all of the dancestors. all of them. i had no taste and i have no idea why i was sexually fixated on them but i was. i was in the throws of puberty (along with some other stuff that would make this ask significantly less fun) and i just unrepentant LOL. the only romantic flame i held was towards damara, i wanted to hug her and Fix Her. i had a dancestor high school au in which i lowkey self inserted as horuss (idk why him of all people but i made my choice) and i probably still have the notebooks somewhere. you bet your ass i wrote that fanfic during the lunch hour while hiding in the library. i was a very cool 13 year old as you can tell

i considered rereading hs over quarantine but i’m so afraid of what it may awaken within me once again. near the end of my stay in the fandom i became a hardcore vriska stan and if i was to re-enter the fandom with f/o stuff in mind i’d probably make my self insert her moirail. your gamzee posting makes me so nostalgic, you’re such an absolute ray of sunshine and your ship is pure gold. i hope you’re doing well too bro!

Thoughts and questions on Volume 10, routes 1 and 2! ...finally.

-Back in Homestuck both Feferi and Eridan got the short end of the stick screentime-wise, but here, they both got a nice bunch of much-needed Interesting Stuff! It's a shame we're (almost surely) heading back to Earth now, to befriend the heck out of the alpha kids.

~ROUTE 2~

-MC expected the Heiress to be super awful, and then Feferi has literally 2 good endings (whose achievements seem to be reversed route-wise?) and her bad ending you get by actively choosing not to further interact with her. And of course, she's already very much against the Empire, even if she doesn't quite seem to interact with it...

-Maybe I read too many fanfics where all of the beta trolls rebel, but I'm kinda surprised that The Rebellion's still a Vriska & Terezi only thing. Let's hope we get to see if Fef does join up...

-Looks like the whole “Witches living in the middle of nowhere with their extremely powerful guardians” thing is starting to become a trend, huh? In Feferi's specific case her meteor probably fell right in front of Gl'bgolyb (a pretty damn large area, actually), who would’ve then immediately gone “holy shit a sky baby” and adopted her.

-Considering that the Condesce can just come down to Alternia and personally get rid of the Heiress (singular, explicitly), living so far from everything was probably a blessing in disguise. And maybe also NOT being involved with how the planet's run- though we'd have to ask a certain Trizza Hiveswap about that...

-She was planning on waiting thousands of sweeps before challenging the Condesce, though iirc the whole thing with Heiresses challenging HIC was something demanded by their shared lusus... She didn't really bother with future ruling plans in Homestuck because they were going to play SGRUB; though Glubglub also bonded more strongly with Feferi because HIC was too far from Alternia... enough to actively favor her over the Empress?

-We also get even more confirmation that seadwellers are OP: Feferi blows up a huge air bubble (that stays on the ocean floor) for MC not to drown like it's nothing, and she's very likely even stronger than Equius*. Meanwhile, Eridan gets thrown through a party cannon (that was just there on the airship for reasons i guess??) AND has Daraya's mall thrown at him by Sollux, and practically walks it off, though he does say later that it was close. You know who'd be a Great Additional Data Point??? Cridea Jeevik.......

-*However, they would not fight, as they both stan Nepeta. On a more serious note, having Feferi interact on-screen with the other trolls would've been very nice... she's hanging out with Sollux in Eridan's route but We Don't See It... We know she's friends with Kanaya, and she also had a pretty nice interaction with Vriska back on one of the walkaround flashes too,

-On seadwellers in general- neck gills are canon (though if i remember correctly a Very Old Tumblr Post, that'd actually not be the best place to have gills? Idk tho), as we can see in Feferi's route; and then we have Eridan, who we know has spent very little time underwater in his entire life, with his scarf *and* a high neck shirt. (this might just be me but. wouldn't it be super uncomfortable to have clothing touching one's gills??? i guess it would kinda depend on the specific take on gills, biology wise)

-Feferi owns a ~fancy air-producing conch shell~, so that's that for any fan seadwellers that Need to have landdwelling friends over.

-MC theorizes that there might be something that makes adult empresses evil... something external, such as a powerful curse of some sort... which would have to transfer from dead empress to freshly crowned empress somehow... really makes you think...

-Feferi can use one of Glubglub's eyes (?) as a crystal ball from which she can access the Actual Dark Motherfucking Carnival, and get metaphysical advice from there. And the one giving her said advice is our precious clown son Karako, who may or may not have gotten like 10 degrees on weird meta shit since we last saw him- assuming he's the same bapy as last time...

-According to Karako or whomstever is speaking through him, there's a creator above this world's creator, as well as another creator above him, and another one above her, and so on and so forth maybe? Wonder what's this setting up for........

-Feferi can either meditate her way up through layers and layers of meta, so she might access them and interact with them, or choose to change stuff in the Alternia she knows and lives in, small as it may be; both these endings have a lot of potential for cool stuff that I hope we'll get to see. Depending on the choice, MC is either a cheese or a marshmallow.

-In Fef's bad end, MC wonders about the workings and limits of their plot armor; they do give it a good whirl in this entire volume.

-I am incredibly pleased to announce that the ally/eely pun also works in Spanish (aliado/anguilado)

~ROUTE 1~

-We find out that both Vriska and Feferi have dumped Eridan- the first's likely busy being gay and doing revolutions with Terezi, but what happened (besides charming quirks such as charging for listening to him brooding) to make Fef break it off? In Homestuck she broke things off with him as soon as they were in the game and Glubglub didn't have to be fed 413 lusii a minute, but there's no SGRUB in Pesterquest; we see Fef's mom in her route, yet we don't hear anything about Eridan's whole Orphaner Jr thing...

-Regarding his additional lack of friends: it's perfectly understandable that Kanaya would drop him, considering she had to deal with a lot of his bullshit back in the comic, but I thought Karkat was actually friends with Eridan? Before Murderstuck of course, but that's obviously not happened in Pesterquest...

-Eridan's 13 years old (and also in charge of feeding glubglub, let's not forget that), where the hell has he found the time to make a nuisance of himself (to the point where employees in some places are legally allowed to stab him if he bothers them) on like half the actual planet????

-MC's reaction when confronted with a room full of fancy clothing is, of course, Big Hype... And wanting something new for their wardrobe.

-so, are Eridan and Roxy nb wizard solidarity?

-Chances are everybody’s already seen this by now orz but I need it to establish a base: Hussie's made an statement where he explained -amongst other things- Eridan's deal with Shrek, originally from [S] Collide. That post could be summarized as:

1) highblood lusii tend to suck ass because of high expectations and low emotional availability, & seahorsedad wasn't an exception; so when the trolls were looking up human stuff back in the meteor and Eridan found Shrek, he saw him as a Good Lusus Figure.

2) Sollux, however, has a good dad that loves and supports his trans son (as sollux trans confirmed) and is also Kinda Ogre Shaped, and Eridan resents him for that → rivalry

3) (it's also confirmed that the eridan from [s] collide was legitimately so happy to be spending time with his dad shrek that he never realized he was dead)

-So: where did Eridan (more like whoever’s in charge of the cinema actually?) get Shrek 2 from if he's never had any contact with humans in this timeline / reality / canon chunk??? It might be one of the Funky Timeline Changes we made in Aradia's route.

-Also: if Eridan knows Sollux is trans (implied in the post but not confirmed), then the conversation the two have later in the route (and specifically Why Eridan begins that conversation) kiiinda takes a dump on his talk about gender (which otherwise is a very good sign that he's got the potential to be a decent person IF he gets his shit together and also thinks about other things -most obviously the hemospectrum- with the same level of depth and all that).

-MC's had their first taste of their Homestuck memories. Let's see how they get them back this time.

-not to self plug (too much) but one of Eridan's fancy articles of clothing looks a Lot like an outfit that's appeared in Mirrorbent?? (← warning for a bit of blood) The one with the purple and yellow gradient in the rack furthest to the right... the one in mirrorbent is basically Gramma Loreto Rights: The Jacket

-After the rollercoaster of hapenings that is his route, Eridan finally understands that he's got to change himself and unlearn all of Alternia's bullshit if he wants his situation to change for the better. Can't believe it took getting An Actual Mall thrown at him to make him realize that...........

-(That mall is of course the one from Daraya's Friendsim- and she sure felt like a Destruction class back then... 2x hopeprince combo mayhaps?)

-Kanaya said in Sollux's route that it was less than advisable for him to overexert his powers, and the only thing he *doesn't* use here is his psionic blasts- hope he's fine! (then again this is probably our last volume on alternia and blah blah blah)

Life, mostly. I mean that’s tremendously vague, but outside of specific canons (like, Dragon Age: Inquisition inspired me to write Dragon Age: Inquisition fanfic) it is mostly like, life. Things that I’ve observed, things that I’ve experienced, things I daydream about, things that I think about other people experiencing, things that I research about life in general.

And mostly just a lot of ‘what kind of story do I most want to read at the moment’ or ‘would I want to read this story and can I currently read this story.’ If the answer is no to the last part, then chances are high I’ll write the story. If the answer is yes to the last part, then I’ll be lazy and read it instead. ;)

Oh and then music and art and graphic novels and novels and manga and anime and movies and television shows and scriptwriting how-to books and clouds and nature and people watching and etc.

Outside of Fae Tales, it was Cole from Dragon Age: Inquisition. He pretty much exists as a plot device in the game, and while his riddles are interesting, he’s actually a fairly poorly formed character, and I never really managed to make him anything more than that in Stuck on the Puzzle and I was aware of it at the time (people have written him really well, it’s just that yeah, he exists to catalyse plot for two other characters most of the time instead of as a character within his own right, despite having a really interesting back story and...forward story, lol.) I used him as a function, in the same way the game did, and always kind of hated that I did that.

Fandoms include: Bones, Homeland, NCIS, Marvel (Thorki - An Abandoned Blue Sky I even had up on AO3 for a while before I deleted it), Fae Tales (yep), Homestuck, BBC Sherlock, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Community, Glee, Profiler, Harry Potter, 30 Rock, Lost Girl, Fringe, The Office: US, Rise of the Guardians, Scrubs and Welcome to Night Vale.

Some of them are short, some of them are pretty long. The Fringe one is 10,000 words and still going.

So.

As for reasons I abandoned them, in no particular order:

- Got bored- Fell out of the fandom before I could finish the story- Realised the story would eat up two years of my life and didn’t want to give two years of my life to it- My writing was bad- My story was bad- Couldn’t think of a story and just liked the character dynamic and the story didn’t come to me when I started writing what a fail - No ending- Concept was good but never went past the ‘concept and a handful of paragraphs’ stage. - The ship is such a fucking rarepair that I disgusted myself and walked away lmao (see: Bones/Sweets and Michael/Pam).- It was het. Which I don’t write anymore.

I write way less WIPs now than I used to. I usually have a pretty good sense now of if I’ll want to commit to a story or not. And I have ways of thinking about story construction now that let me know if I have something worth committing to or not.

Momocon story time

So I recently went to my first con(momocon) and idk what to expect. Jenny is telling me that its gonna be way bigger than I could possibly expect, Erik is telling me that it’ll be amazing and have awesome cosplay and stuff. First day of the con Jenny and I decide to go as Tavros and Rose.

first experience at the con, before i’ve even registered is hearing someone scream “LOOK THERE’S ANOTHER TAVROS!!”. This is the first person I’ve ever met at a con, and they apparently go as tavros every year and even fell down the stairs one year. they really wanted to hug me.

next experience: Guy comes up to me while im playing EDH with Jenny and Erik and says “haha! Taurus, nice! Don’t Bull me around!” and then he walks away. He honestly didn’t know what homestuck was.

not but 10 minutes later: I see some guy in a crop top with satyr horns and then he locks eyes with me, runs at us in a full sprint and slides across the floor saying “I’m a sexy pirate, plunder my booty” while his friend the dave cosplay is poking his butt with a sword.

next this rose cosplayer starts freaking out and wants a picture with me bc im tavros, okay thats cool! they take a picture with me and walk away. I’m looking at their group as they're walking away and I notice an older lady walking with them and that's when I realized they were all like 13.

then I’m walking around the con with Erik and I see a dude in a kekistan flag. WHAT the FUCK. Next day while I was in the dealers alley looking for a Plushie to get for Jenny I see him again and call him a nazi.

All in all 10/10 I want to go next year.

I can get behind the idea of Church accidentally and bizarrely and inexplicably falling in love with Caboose in a purely emotional sense, and Caboose loves everyone on all the teams in his own way, except the ones his family (because that's what they are, his family) genuinely hates, and those he does his best to fuck up something fierce. but don't pretend that Caboose and Church having sex would be anything but creepy as fuck and completely out of character. I need to work on retaining the first dreams I have for the nighttime sleep, and not the dreams from the two hour “oh I was trying to get up but I didn’t so I fell asleep again” sleep.

Then again those sleeps are more vivid. I wonder why?

- A Naruto TCG online game, except the cards are integrated into a system like the fighting game. Chain of Memories for Naruto Nerds, as I could call it.

I was enjoying the game really well, and I was playing on a computer with my headphones on. Turns out that some of the audio was playing out on some speakers. I learned this just as two speedrunners were going to play some other computer game next to me. I paused the game and got nervous to turn it back on, even after I turned down, turned off, and unplugged the speakers, because the monitors next to me also has speakers; bigger looking ones at that.

I was a tiny Vriska. I dressed up in that myself. Everyone else was more realistically sized Homestuck Trolls, and the place was pretty well crowded.

I walked through the area after going down some escalators. I dodged bumping into everyone and when I passed by people who were trolls in a higher blood chaste than me I started to get nervous. But I kept telling myself that I was supposed to be Vriska “fuck you and your higher blood chaste” Serket.

I got to an elevator that would take me to a seating area, while I waited, I opening up the IM and read the rules and  wrote down a BUNCH of things that were a lot of @s and such:

When I got to a table and sat down, I realized some of the @s turned into hyperlinks, which meant real users, and I started getting nervous and regretting being so forward. However, one of the “owners” had come to me and told me hello, and gave me a bowl of dried numnums. One of them was a dried fruit-like chip, that tasted like a tomato and a cherry at the same time. I got the achievement for “Eating the Weird Fruit” woo.

I look over to the table next to me and it was the products from this weird subplot dream I’m not sure how to introduce. A McDonald’s like fast food restaurant was adverting Happy Meals but with...elvis hair on them. It was like a movie or a celebrity or I dunno.

Super Why had a new season reboot, where the characters were actually solving crimes and mysteries with their powers, rather than fixing old played-out fairy tales that get shoved down your throat for 10+ years. Their main antagonist was...Proto! He was an anti-hero of sorts who wanted to re-imagine the Super Why team with his “Powerful Changing Machine!” Proto was a little more stylized however, as was everyone else. They remodeled everyone to look less like 3 year olds and more like 10-13 year olds. Proto had curly hair now, and a tan compared to Super Why, but was still considered the “imposter of Super Why.”

Proto had a hand in technology, as is most supervillains tbh. He trapped the other Super Why people (idk what am I gonna call them the Super Readers after they were reimagined?) away in a room to watch him turn Super Why into a damsel in distress he can save and then marry. Super Why dodged lasers and computer screens around a large, dark circular room while Proto was in the corner laughing like a villain with a little controller or something. Oh yeah, Proto still had the accent but it was much better voiced.

Super Why was then trapped by floating ringlets and the TVs and lasers all pointed at him, surrounding him. They charged up aaaaaannnnddd

well I dunno. I woke up.

Also I remember shots of a basement, much like one I remember from an old friend of mine. Empty but full, dark but well-lit, scary but comforting. You know...weird!
