So there are Jonelias soulmate AUs where Jon has the name Jonah Magnus as his soulmate, and they are excellent. There are also AUs where Jon is trans and chose his name based on Jonah (I can remember two instances: one where he named himself after a biblical figure and one where he named himself after Magnus) and they are also wonderful. However, consider: both.

Jon realizes that his soulmate must’ve died 200 years ago, but he had a nice name, and Jon needs a nice new name, and it’d be a small way of feeling close to this person he’ll never meet. Besides, he can just go by Jon and keep his soulmark covered up and nobody will ever know. It’s not like anyone out there might be able to read minds, or would be likely to care about what the name Jonah might mean to Jon. In other news I think Elias should be surprised with information about where Jon got his name from at the least convenient possible time.
