guu. maybe just me but it is a little sad to see so much of the madcom fandom completely bulldoze any thought for the worldbuilding of the series in favor of shipping n stuff? of course (and of course i have to say it lest we have another "piss on the poor" scenario) im all for shipping don't fuckin get me wrong. it's just that the setting itself is also so fucking interesting n there's so much to do with it. the universe has been demonstrated to function like some sort of computer and you can glitch reality if you try hard enough, (the equivalent of) human beings are MASS PRODUCED AND COMMODIFIED (need i even SUGGEST the moral ramifications??), there exists a device capable of turning the sun sentient and said sun was beaten to death without fanfare the second it came alive, nevadeans Really Do just look like that in canon!, LIKE? all of it is so fucking interesting. idk. i just love worldbuilding w all my heart so dearly n id love to see more people working out their ideas of how things in their society function/playing w speculative biology, etc etc you know?

Scrooge: dagobert (also his last name is just Duck and not McDuck). Why? Idk actually. All I could find was "it's based on German."

Beagle boys: zware jongens. It means heavy boys but I think it's supposed to be like bad boys.

Flintheart Glomgold: Govert Goudglans. Govert is just an old Dutch name but Goudglans means golden glow!

Mrs Beakly: Baktaart. So uhm her name means bake cake 💀

Webby Vanderquack: Webby/Lizzie van der Kwaak. So first of, the reason I did /Lizzie is because Lizzie is her name in the og Ducktales! The reboot decided to go for the English name tho. Names with "Vander..." often have Dutch or German origins, but van and der are 2 seperate words so it's spaced out. And kwaak for another sound ducks make. Her last name means "of the quack"

Fethry: Diederik. It's just another (kinda old) Dutch name

Gladstone Gander: Guus Geluk. Guus is a Dutch name, and geluk means luck. It's not actually an origin reason they purposfully went for but I like how Guus kinda sounds like goose. Cause it feels like his name is based on the English phrase lucky goose lol

Launchpad McQuack: Turbo McKwek. Pretty straightforward

Gyro Gearloose: Willie Wortel. Hear me out. Willie is kinda like Will/William, and worten means carrot. His name is William Carrot.

okay so in central america they use vos mostly but they kinda suffered under the idea that tú was the more "correct" or "respectable" pronoun so it is still a player in now people speak

but I was just thinking about how that idea has affected the spanish I speak where I mean my mother told me she doesn't like vos and my grandmother uses vos with my grandfather but only has ever used it once with me and pretty quickly switched back to tú like I'm sure she literally slipped up fhyjuu it's too funny

but basically I'm like... it's so funny to me like bc for me usted is formal, yk standard for like people you want to show respect to, to keep at a distance or to be cutetsy or even sarcastic, tú is standard like regular speech, family members, friends, colleagues or like classmates and vos is for like super casual speech like, between guy friends like id say it to my brother but I'd say tú to my sisters ig??

idk it's wierd though bc I'd say tú is kinda like a preface? like everyone be using vos in central anerica but where gonna pretend we're "cultured" when talking to people from other places like if I hadn't done the leg work I'd have never heard it until like talking to some guanaco and I'm like... why u talk funny
