Note
I really enjoy your technical writing talk, and I got into Black Sails via you, finishing it before reading your BS fic (thank you!!) -- how necessary is watching Stargate to catching on to your Stargate fic? A couple episodes? A season? Should I just get hooked and finish the show first? Should I read a chapter and want to know more and then watch some eps? Inquiring minds want a guide.
First of all, THANK YOU FOR WANTING TO READ MY FIC.
I have a guide for you! It is here. I think it helps to have a general Stargate background (like, there are references to the general Stargate mythos, drawn from SG-1 and Atlantis, as well as appearances by characters from those shows), but that guide should help? I know some people are reading without having watched any Stargate.
If you want to watch a couple of episodes of Stargate Universe, I generally recommend 1x08 and 2x12 as the best ones, although there’s also some good and plot-important stuff in 1x14? And obviously all the set-up is in the pilot, which for obscure reasons is a three-part episode. But it’s really not a good show, and the fic essentially uses it as the barest jumping-off point, so I would say: don’t necessarily subject yourself to it.

KILLMONGER: Once you've shucked off the mortal shell and all the associated endocrinology, your mind clears.
KILLMONGER: Shoulda let you heal me, cuz. Can't help my brothers and sisters there from here.
T'CHALLA: Perhaps you can help from here. There is a bridge, after all.
KILLMONGER: Yeah, the good ol' heart-shaped herb. I thought I destroyed it. And I thought it was only for after a challenge is won. Yet here you are.
T'CHALLA: Zuri knew when, and where, to keep a secret. And I did win your challenge. In the end.
KILLMONGER: Yeah I guess you did at that. Betcha didn't come see me to gloat though, you don't seem the type.
T'CHALLA: The point is, our religion has ancestor worship, and we have the means for actual communion with you in your world.
T'CHALLA:  I'm opening Wakanda's borders to refugees among your brothers and sisters in the outer world. They'll need their own tribe, a sixth Wakandan tribe. The Ocean People.
T'CHALLA: I come to you now to ask you to be First Ancestor to the Ocean Tribe.
KILLMONGER: My king.
KILLMONGER: Could be, a few, I'm their literal ancestor
T'CHALLA: I believe I've met one
Inspired by @idiagroena‘s Ocean Tribe headcanon here EDIT that URL seems to be someone else’s now. Drafted as a comic script which is why there's nothing but dialog (I don’t bother with stage directions in my scripts for myself because I know what I meant). Tagged “killmonger redemption aus” because that’s my existing tag but it’s source continuity compliant which was part of @idiagroena’s point. (punchline’s all mine though)
EDIT I did eventually draw it

you're still in Chi right??? if so that's Athenian Candle, home of the best customer service and ultimate best selection I've ever experienced in a spiritual shop.
They were pretty ridiculously nice, yes! I’m gonna go back, there’s a bakery like a block down that I really liked last time I was there, I’m gonna get cookies and candles!

Speaking as a person who accepts said proposals... if they liked it enough to accept you, they aren't going to care if you have to be reminded of topic. I've had more than a few people go "right... what did I say I was doing?" or "Can you email me my write up again?" Of course, when I send out the acceptance letters, I do include the workshop title, so hopefully you named your session evocatively.
Well, and I know definitely what my topic was, it’s just there was one part where they were like “What are the objectives of this session” and I gave them a four point list, and now I only know what two of the points were :D But yes hopefully they will include a copy of my form with my formal acceptance.

This is almost enough to make me reconsider my decision to be cremated.
I mean, you can have a casket and still be cremated! You’re just cremated in the casket.
So you could go full-irony and paint like, flames all over it.

DIdn't Sue Perkins make these as a dinner party centerpiece for "The Super Sizers eat The 1970s"?
I seem to recall, yes! So we’re only a little early for the fifty year cycle :D

I remember reading somewhere that there was a casket that came with shelves (or you built it with shelves) so that until it was needed for a body, you would stand it up on one end and use it as a bookshelf. I've always been more fascinated with the Catholic religious orders whose initiates put mattresses on top of coffins and slept that way.
Oooh, I love the idea of a bookshelf you are then buried in! Which means it also has a lid, making packing easy!

I have been thinking this over. I have some hot...
i think the milk powder+milk has somewhat magic thickenizing power but I don’t know.
I was wondering if the dehydrated milk proteins don’t thicken up properly and that’s why you’re supposed to add regular milk - but the cornstarch is in there for thickening, so . . . ???? Plus I know that one of the things I’ve heard about cake mix is that they could totally put dried egg powder in there and not require the addition of fresh eggs, but apparently the marketing people realized that even people baking from mix wanted to do more than just add water and stir, so I wonder if there’s something similar going on with pudding mix.
And if you DO need regular milk then why bother with milk powder in the mix. Something here seems ridiculously redundant.

I am slightly squeamish both ways: I like a strong wall of separation between most of my fandom shit and here, for better or worse...
I see. yeah I’m pretty transparent (and a little dangerously shameless)

“heros are primary colors villains are secondary colors” comes from four color printing, where green and purple had 2x the chance of a misprint per page, acceptable for the villain(a less popular or less long running character) but not the hero.
I love this bit of trivia! Thank you! My point still stands, that Hela could have been purple. The movie has such a distinctive visual scheme that this particular overlap irks me a lot.

can you throw an approximate timeline on these, even wild mass guessing?
This is a mess but I’ll try... some of these would probably have coexisted with the one before or after, like the direction of ᛉ/ᛦ was free for a long time. Also toward the end I switch from Danish to Swedish to Norwegian.
(I think you can make the image bigger now).

idiagroena replied to your post “for the sake of argument, I spent several minutes trying to come up...”
people who want more people-like-themselves (race-supremacists, those mensa people who think everyone is dumber than them and dumber=subhuman) tend to want a ton of women to carry their babies and not have a choice about it
I’m super curious why, if you’re someone who fully believes some people are Less Human than others, women and children inevitably fall into this Less Human group

@idiagroena Oooh, I need to get them, but I have been broke for awhile. I respect her work (what of it I’ve been able to grab onto) so damn much. ...maybe I should do my bi-yearly search for free essays by her. I’ve got more sources now.

what is this and why does it look like john silver grew a different face and is sitting in a diner with james flint (wearing a 21st c version of his pirate leather jacket)
That is The Exorcist and those people are Father Tomas Ortega (who has thrown away a promising life as an up-and-coming star of the Church to train as an exorcist) and excommunicated exorcist Marcus Keane (who is gay, sarcastic, unbelievably traumatized, draws birds in the Bible as a hobby, and compares the experience of seeing God’s face to getting the first hit of a drug, so I probably don’t need to explain that he is My Son). Not pictured: smooth, cool, ultra-civilized Father Bennett (who has always already had enough of Marcus’s shit); Scruffy Dad John Cho, who has a houseful of foster children that are getting possessed by demons.
It is a peculiar, wobbly, erratically interesting little show that would make for TREMENDOUS fic. The second season just started.

I don't know if youre about to Get On This Bullshit or not (please do) but consider Practical Magic(1998) against the canon/stereotypes of Exorcism Horror Films, including such beats is "is this really happening" "is this a metaphor for abuse" "who is competent/allowed/necessary to heal this victim" :)
The Exorcist does this too (I can’t tell from this message if you watch the show or not)— exorcism is pretty explicitly figured as being about rape and abuse, the lasting impact of trauma comes into things, and there’s a whole question of even different approaches to healing victims. I mean, Practical Magic is an upbeat romantic comedy, so obviously the two have very different tones, and The Exorcist isn’t woman-centric in the way that Practical Magic so delightfully is, although it does have some interesting women. But what I would love is for someone to take the characters and the concept of The Exorcist and run with them in the way that fanfiction can.

I don’t know what the hell I reblogged from you to be honest. I dorm give a fuck. This is tumblr- and shockingly when you post public things on a blogging site then people are -what?- gonna reblog it. You come into my ask box all shitty because I did what this site was made for??? You don’t have anything in your description that says “hey I’m a blog but for the love of god DO NOT reblog anything from me”.
Btw: if you had been nicer I might have been nicer but honestly you came in here all shitty, and then never even specified what it is that reblogged from you so that I could respectfully remove it.
So if you could kindly fuck off- that would be great thanks.

god I'm morbidly curious now but I would never fess up my own rp blogs for love or money
that’s not a sentiment I understand, roleplaying has never embarrassed me and I think I do very well with the characters I’ve stolen been given
