unless your character is introduced as deaf, aesop doesn't immediately assume that you can't hear. he doesn't really interact that much with the other survivors that much either, so it would probably take a hint from someone else to queue him in.

if he does find out in your first interaction, he's going to be embarrassed, to say the least. he'll probably avoid you for a little while, not because you did anything, he's just beating himself up.

i headcanon that aesop goes nonverbal quite a bit, so he knows a fair amount of ASL and BSL, not that he's really had anyone to get support from in his life during a nv period. If you don't use either of those, aesop is happy to pass notes while he learns your prefered variation.

during matches with you, aesop's anxiety heightens. i'm not quite sure what your character abilites would be, but aesop is nearly attatched to you by the elbow, waiting for the second either one of you gets a heartbeat. it's less a matter of him wanting you to be safe, and more a matter of needing you to be safe, damned be the consequences.

naib subedar

naib is interested in you from the start, and is determined to get to know you more. after your first match together, depending on the outcome, he may be a litte confused or irritated if someone got chaired or hurt when they shouldn't have, but naib is actually a decent person and doesn't get upset at you for things you can't control.

now, he's just concerned about the communication barrier! naib passes notes with you until he's able to speak in your preferred variation of sign language and highly encourages his closer teammates to do the same.

as time passes, sign language might actually become naib's preffered mode of communication; he's a quiet guy, and you're one of the only people he really sees any use in talking to.

matches really fuck naib up. his anxiety is already through the fuckin roof in these situations, but now he's worried about the hunter getting the drop on you. fuck.

does his best to stay in your relative area; there's not much he can do to warn you if the hunter is coming your way, so he'll try and steer them somewhere else and let you decode.

overall, naib is relatively protective, but he's not going to infantilize or baby you either- you're a grown person, and you can handle yourself. you've got his back, and he has yours.

Aesop was always alright with you choosing to be mute.

He wouldn’t force anyone to not speak.

The fact that he didn’t like talking and preferred more the silence doesn’t count as a reason to him.

At first, it may be a little complicated to communicate with each other-

Aesop cherished the chemistry between you and him, but the problem was that couples must have some communication in order to work certain things out together.

Such as how would Aesop know what do you need help with, specifically?

Aesop was not the type to invest his time on assignments that didn’t consist in embalming, but he would try to learn more communication methods for the mute during his breaks. Like the writing system Braille or sign language.

Of course, he would learn the basics first for important occasions and then learn the rest in baby steps-

That way, he would be able to maintain good contact with you during matches.

After years of being with you and learning more silent interaction tips, you both quite made some codes that you both only know.

You both would glance at each other, and Aesop would immediately know what you need after a second.

Studying your facial expressions and reactions over the years helped him learn to observe what things you seem to like and what are the things you dislike.

Both of you were very quiet people, so is a double trouble that your teammates may have issues with communication sometimes.

There were times Aesop wanted to know when a hunter is chasing you, so you both came up with idea of you bringing a whistle around your neck. That way, he may know where you are if you get chased by the hunter-

•He wouldnt be big on physical touch however, he would like to occasionally like to hold your hand.

•(if you let him) he would embalm you while you were asleep.
