HEY! you said that s3 brio was better than s2 & s1 brio, and I cannot let that go...bc I kinda agree in a lot of ways. We kinda got the fake dating au, the 3.04 money scene, and the 3.11 scene. I dont think anything can surpass the 2.09 kiss, but I would like to know why you think s3 was superior

Okay look, you make a fair point and I wobble on this stance whenever I look at gifsets BUT s2 brio walked so s3 brio could run (face-first into a wall at high speeds but I love pain which is a key component to understanding my stance here). 

Basically the version of Beth and Rio we saw in season 3 made me feel exponentially more stuff because there was so much depth of feeling to their relationship that hadn’t been there previous seasons mostly because it couldn’t have been, it’s the cumulative build of everything good and bad and it makes me feel I think literally every emotion all at once.

Tbh I drew my conclusion after watching the midnight bar scene in 304 approximately 43 times on a loop and personally feel that’s enough (not even taking 306 into account, or 305 for that matter. honestly the 304-306 brio arc was god tier). THAT SAID in terms of literal examples of content, @foxmagpie​ compiled a handy list in her tags:

and this list doesn’t even get into the amount of airtime 305 spent presenting the idea that rio loves beth for audience consideration (twice! with a lot of dead space around it to let the point land! that’s a lot in tv land!) (though, due to the amount of time devoted to it, it had to accomplish more than just the one thing and I think the other major point was symbolizing the death of the boland marriage but that’s a whole other post) (plus, obvs, foreshadowing lucy)

I also say all of this with the caveat that if the makeshift finale hadn’t ended like it did (making so much space for such a tonally shifted brio scene) and the show been renewed I probably wouldn’t be saying all of this but as things stand I’m extremely excited for s4 to follow the trajectory and possibly probably actually kill me.

ANYWAY, tl;dr there was a lot of brio content in s3 and while it certainly wasn’t nice, it was all weighted and deliciously angsty and saturated in feelings in a way the other seasons weren’t capable of being and that’s the kind of thing I live for both bc continuity! emotional development! narrative consequences!, but also bc, as established, I love pain.

3. Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?

< - < yeahhhh more than once whoops... I got Tired of reading meta i thought was nonsensical and seeing ships I really Don’t Like - this was before exclusion was something I had the ability to freely do, though, and now I wouldn’t unfollow, I’d just block the tags for things I don’t like, stay for the stuff I do. 

14. Unpopular opinion about your fandom?

I’m going to get drawn and quartered but Sterek... is too popular.... I said it yeah (I’m so sorry I’m pretty sure you like them ahh, I just.... yeah... it’s not even like Drarry for me like at least I used to ship Drarry (I admit now that makes me feel a little ill for Personal Reasons) I’ve never gotten sterek and it’s... like more than most of the fics... and it even appears in stuff that doesn’t tag it.... im not like. Angry but I am Salty... just look at the most kudosed fic on Ao3 for TW (with Stiles Stilinski/Derek Hale specifically excluded!!) and you’ll see what I mean... Please Tag Appropriately... also most of the content I’ve seen for it is like refusing to acknowledge anything after s2?? what’s up with that, also stiles was like, 16? and Derek was like 24??? which is REALLY PUSHING IT like legally in England that’s like... no, you know? I think it used to be 16s can date up to 24 but idk brain = dead I think it had something to do with parents?? and stuff??? but i think it’s been changed since, anyway point is,,, look Derek when he was sixteen was horribly hurt by a 24 year old woman.... and Im not comparing the two but there is No Way Derek would go anywhere Near a minor in that way that’s just... so wrong on so many levels,,, also personally I really didn’t see them as standing each other beyond what they both individually cared for Scott, which is just a me thing idk im sorry i don’t care for Sterek i deeply apologise... if only i could, it’s like 90% of the fandom but it’s... squicky to me, very sorry, idek why really bc i mean when time-travel or deaging is involved im ok with Steter so maybe im just a hypocrite who knows,,, i guess if i said id probably be more ok with scerek and im NOT a fan of sceo but i do like steo it might start to make more sense?? I’m like. I’m just picky. And very arbitrary, it’s a flaw, i do want to say i have NOTHING against anyone who does ship sterek!!! It’s just not for me and idk why it makes me uncomfortable bc you’d THINK steter would make me uncomfortable but it doesn’t so \_¬-¬_/ also im a stalia over stydia kind of gal,,, and a scira over scallison kind of gal... and a scydia over scolia kind of gal.... just like fyi idk it’s late im tired i got up at like six today now i really am just rambling whOOPS)

Like Garret Douglas idk Kate Argent and Geriatric Argent,,,, the Reprehensibles basically.... they are solely villains like actually totally evil and they’re really gross people so... no thank you

Completely unsubstantiated theory re s3 brio goodness given i haven't rewatched and cba to check: s1 and 2 have several scenes btwn them which start midflow, they're hanging in cafés or bars or on tables, and we don't know how the convo was going beforehand (sometimes we don't know how it ended/either, often @ end of ep). There's v lil of that in s3? Their scenes basically ALWAYS start with rio wandering along. So it's like.... We saw basically all of their interactions this time???

I feel like that’s that’s a pretty well-substantiated theory? Idk, my memory is shit and my rewatch has been spotty and hyperfocused, but I know there was the hashbrown convo (obvs the highlight of that interaction, I know what I’m about son) in 1 and the don’t say panties incident in 2. I feel like there were others but I can’t call them to mind? Either way, with the ~~~~partnership and montaging, there was definitely a lot more room for the possibility of casual interaction (and it was directly implied with all the meets with R on Beth’s paper trail I mean crime calendar)

But anyway, yeah, I think you’re right. I feel like any hanging out in s3 would've devolved p immediately into Rio being like “hey remember the time you shot me and left me to die” in response to literally anything Beth said since that was like, more or less what was already happening in at least half of the interaction we saw and that’s kind of a mood killer! 

I have no idea where I’m going with this. Idk, I like that s2 left a lot of room for spec and branching off with their relationship but I also really, really love that s3 took the approach that every moment of their interactions was too weighted and significant to miss?
