Mostly 9-1-1, but I've dabbled in Lone Star. I also have a podfic each for both One Piece and BG3. Before I got to 9-1-1, I mainly podficced for The Magnificent Seven: 2016.

What is the podfic fic you recorded wrote with the angstiest ending?

Pretty much everything I've ever podficced ends happily or with some sort of hopeful ending. I have to go with [Podfic] the nighttime fear (see it coming from the edge of the room) which was written by @extasiswings. It's a short introspective piece with no happy ending. I don't think there is another that ends unhappily for me to even consider, honestly.

What's the podfic fic you recorded wrote with the happiest ending?

LMAO! They're pretty much all end happily, as I just said.

Do you get hate on podfics fics?

No. Never.

Do you record write smut?

Oh yeah. I've recorded plenty. 😂

Craziest crossover?

I've only recorded one, and it wasn't crazy considering it was just a 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star crossover. It was [Podfic] These Are My Stompin' Grounds written by @benjaminrussell.

Are you fucking kidding me? How am I supposed to choose? Probably Buddie, even though that feels wrong because it's not even my current hyperfixation. I've never created as much for another ship though.

What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

Oh, I'm gonna finish all my shit. Don't you worry.

What are your podficcing writing strengths?

Fuck. Idk? I think I have good pacing and emote really well. And my editing has improved tremendously over the years.

What are your podficcing writing weaknesses?

I'm hypercritical and tend to overedit at times. To the point that it sounds unnatural. I'll also just shove entire projects to the side if I don't meet my own standards, so there are quite a few things haunting me from the WIP folder atm.

Thoughts on dialogue in another language?

I've very rarely had to record in another language. Especially in the last few years. For my Mag7 podfics, there's a bit of Spanish and a small amount French, and they're kind of embarrassing for me to listen to. I've honestly considered taking them down, but I know there are people who enjoy them. So, I never do. There's a bit of Spanish in at least two of my early 9-1-1 podfics as well. I always try my best with it, but I only speak English, so I'm always super paranoid about fucking it up. I'll avoid recording entire fics just because there are other languages in them.

Favorite podfic fic you've recorded written?

[Podfic] Carbon Date Me, Excavate Me written by @extasiswings and @letmetellyouaboutmyfeels is my fucking baby. I've listened to that fucking podfic so many times...

But my current favorite that I listen to regularly is [Podfic] nothing is safe written by @foxflowering which is my BG3 podfic. I have other BG3 projects in my WIP folder, but I'm so self-conscious about my ability to voice those characters that they're not coming out anytime soon. I was hyperfixated af on this ship for a while though and listened to this damn podfic on repeat. Also, @letmetellyouaboutmyfeels guest starred in it, so it has a special place. <3

I'm a writer....well, I’m working on it, I'm neither good at writing nor storytelling, worldbuilding or character creation, but writing is the only thing that when I do it I don‘t feel like I’m secretly wasting my time, so imma keep doing it

16) What are your writing strengths?

I think I’m good at dialogue, and I’m good at writing realistic situations. I try really hard to write technically well (lol that idek if I’m saying that right) so that things read smoothly. I think I write humor well? I’m not great at positive self talk, sooooo sorry

17) What are your writing weaknesses?

I sometimes struggle with the emotional/internal conflict parts of stories. I tend to get caught up in the external stuff and forget the rest. That’s one of the million reasons I love nic. She can point to a scene and say “ok but how does this make him feel?” and it magically makes me able to think about it properly!

18) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

This seems odd to me because people usually choose fics to read written in a specific language, and if the dialogue is in a different language, how would the reader understand? If we’re talking bits of dialogue sprinkled in, then maybe it would make sense if the writer speaks the language? Idk

Mid-Year Writing Round Up

Current word count for the year: 165,014 according to ao3, but since almost all of that was co-written/rp’d with @bites-heal , let’s say something closer to 82,507. 

if we add in unpublished stuff that i’ve been fucking around with though, we’d probably have to add that original 165,014 to the 82,507. if not more. x) i need to finish/publish some shit, but i’m unmotivated.

Number of stories (including drabbles) posted to ao3: 17, unless we count Drivin’ After Midnight as one story rather than a series, in which case: 2.

Fandoms I wrote for: Stranger Things exclusively, somehow.

Pairings I have written for: Harringrove exclusively, although i’ve had some Jancy moments sprinkled into some of that in the background.

Story with the most kudos: the first story of the Drivin’ series, Truth or Dare, by a long shot.

Story with the most bookmarks: Truth or Dare once again.

Story with the most subscriptions: the dramatic grand finale of the Drivin’ series, Hang On To Yourself.

Story I’m most proud of: idk if i have a story out for this year yet that i feel really proud of on its own. i am really proud of the work that went into Drivin’ though, from the general sort of planning/haggling that Mei and i did, to the writing, to the editing and the mood boards. but as far as stories on their own merits go, i think Hang On To Yourself wins in my mind.

What’s ahead: working on an immensely multichap thing with @emilylawless since this spring that we’re hoping to put out sometime soon, once life stops being so crazy (hah). besides that, i’d love to finish/publish any of the many wips i have on my own but god there’s so many idek where to start.

Yu Yu Hakusho sucked me in, taught me how to write (and by gods are my first fics terrible hahaha pls don’t read them), mostly wrote that for a while, tried InuYasha and Cyborg 009 (#TBT) oh and Spider-Man (the original hahaha), then Naruto sucked me in but I’m still working on that one, The Amazing Spider-Man (my shortest fic!), and somehow, BTS??

Including fics not posted? Hawaii 5-0 (another series, lol, if I ever get around to the rest of it)

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

Lawl, I don’t even have 5 fics so by default, all of them? 😂

Liability (Naruto) is definitely the first (it’s the oldest, ofc it is, but even on ff.net it’s the favest)

Fallen King (Uncanny Counter) is an obvious second

Winter’s End (YYH) an unlikely third (including ff.net bc... sigh)

The Kid (TASM) - still proud of that one tbh, my summary definitely sucks though

Alone But For One (BTS) - newest baby, my darling, could be replaced with a handful of fics on ff.net but I prefer this writing lol

5) Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

Yes, of course, comments are... a shot of adrenaline, I get so ecstatic and flattered that I feel I must share the joy?? Also a habit I carried over from ff.net (before they made it against the rules to reply to comments or w/e), and I’m also not overwhelmed with them like popular fics seem to be and unless you truly stump me... I’ll try to say something back (unless you don’t want me to and sign with ‘whisper’ like I mention that’s fine too)

6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

... Joke’s on you, of the 2 that are finished (on AO3), they don’t have an angsty ending! But skimming over ff.net... I remember... and I’d sayyyy Dreamless Slumber and Suzuka’s Choice are tied tbh hahaha. Same mood. (Wth happened to that formatting!? Oh gawd, don’t go fix it, LEAVE IT ALONE)

7) Do you ever write crossovers?

I hadn’t, and I had I think... one idea for one? I have maybe one or two ideas now but they’re not high on my writing list.

8) Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Yup. Mary-sued me right out of the fic, possibly writing I can’t remember now it’s been so long. Idk why I left that comment there, I reread it last year and it still feels as awful. But now I’m tempted to go back and respond with spite. But I won’t (but the petty part of me wants to lash back). ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

9) Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I used to, hormonal teenager and all that I guess?? Now I just... idek, that kind of relationship isn’t important for my stories.

Hahaha, no. Well, not to my knowledge. Don’t think my writing was good enough to be stolen (and didn’t we all just, piggyback ideas off one another and made them our own back then?), if I ever finish a fic and it gets “popular” (w/e that means) I might worry about it but ehh. Write your own stuff man, it could be so much better (not just writing wise).

11) Have you ever co-written a fic before?

I haven’t. I wrote a fic for an online friend and she was my go to for plot and things but that’s all.

... Um. I can’t answer H/C can I hahaha, I think it’s found family? Or just... solid, reliable friendships? Idk. I can’t analyze my writing for shit lol, readers tell me wth I write about pls

Yu Yu Hakushooooo. Damn you CN for never airing the eps after the Dark Tournament, do you know how old I was when I finally finished the damn show!? LOL

Liability is probs up there, but Fallen King is a close second (if only bc it’s my first chaptered fic without an OC?? that feels like an accomplishment in and of itself). But I also love the series my BTS one shot lives in, but the rest hasn’t been written (much less posted) yet so... hard to put that out there lol.

1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?

i formulated it for tumblr and and decided to use it for ao3 to retain my branding. it’s basically just, cool weeb idk it’s not even true but i’m owning it

2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/subscriptions/hits/kudos)

that would be the multi-chapter i guess. though i do want to maybe someday do actual math like. compare the kudos/comment ratio with the hits and then calculate which ACTUALLY performed the best based on that.

3. What is your AO3 profile icon, and why did you choose it?

oh it’s that one art i did of oikawa saying “4 YEARS WE’VE KNOWN EACH OTHER AND YOU DON’T WANNA SEE ME JUMP OUTTA DA CAKE” except i put a comic sans ‘excuse u’. not sure why i used it either; it makes me look sassy whenever i reply to comments but it got me a mutual (lolol hi vio) and people comment about it when they see it so No Ragrets

4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?

yES. the oikage ao3 community is so kind to me tbh ever since i posted my first fics. of course i love every single commenter i get (with one exception, maybe.) and i appreciate the diversity when i post non-oikage fics too. (those are basically my ao3 categories. oikage and misc JDFKSJD)

5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?

i reread my own fics from time to time for no reason and the ones that i come back to the most are from the p+c series i did for oikage week. i’m sort of proud of them? but i feel like they didn’t get as much feedback as i would’ve liked so i appreciate them in my own time. #2 and #5 in particular.

6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked?

i’m a picky person, so i only have 25 bookmarks, 8 work subscriptions, and 3 user subscriptions. the bookmarks and subscriptions may overlap

7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?

i am a private au royalty, and i have so many idek which to start, which i’m actually going to write, etc. i’m a sucker for complex and adventure aus, as well as the heart-wrenching ones

basically everything that i write yet don’t post. mostly because they involve my ocs. don’t get me wrong; i’m good at making ocs now i don’t mary sue or anything and they’re all really cool and story-relevant but people just don’t want/need to see that kind of thing, you know?

10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.

setting description, dialogue-heavy pieces, condensing a work to involve less words, romance in general u gh how an anti-romance as a genre person ended up here is a mystery to me, and just. writing in general. as far as i see, i still suck

20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?

everyone has to start somewhere, and i think a pretty good start before the actual writing is reading. reading is where the whole thing begins, and from it you can get ideas and styles and words, and develop your way of thinking. as for actual writing: it’s important not to pressure yourself to be really really good and that you find ways to have fun with it. write for your own reasons. look to improvement, but not to the point that it’s all you care about. it’s normal to get stuck, it’s normal to go slow. but if you really love it, don’t quit. keep writing and you’ll never go wrong. oh, and editing is your friend.

21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?

definitely plot out. it’s going to be impossible for me to remember everything on the fly, and ideas pop out at random times in the day and i can’t discard them, so each story has a plan. the level of detail depends on the complexity and my own creative ability at any given moment. sometimes tho i get ideas midway through speed-typing and just go with them.

22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?

no, not really bad. some kind of off-topic, yes, but not bad. i just don’t reply.

23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)

romantic things in general. the emotions and sensations that come with touch and affection, because i don’t write those based on experience.

24. What story(s) are you working on now?

…a lot. just. a lot.

bruh yeah. i even have projects that have spinoffs/sequels where i want to write the sequels before the actual project

ideally, that would be to write and then feel satisfied with what i’ve written, in terms of the degree of accomplishment (did i just finish a subsection or a chapter? get past a part where i was stuck?) and the quality. most days, it’s too high a goal.

infinitely, yes. it’d be a little embarrassing if i didn’t improve since childhood

I found the original questions on AFF a while back, and I thought since I’ve been tagged in so many meme things lately, I’d also tag a bunch more people in this one XD Since the questions were designed for AFF, I’ve reworked some of them to fit for AO3 writers. I also removed two questions rather than trying to translate them to AO3 terms.  So, I’ll fill out my answers first, and then put the blank questions again at the bottom for you to easily copy and paste! 

1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?

'Her dust is very pretty' is the last part of a Dorothy Parker poem called Epitaph for a Darling Lady. Dorothy Parker is the only poet I’ve ever liked. I usually detest poetry and find it stupid and annoying. But I like most of hers. I used this as my first tumblr URL too. It’s just kind of my name now. I’ve been using it since 2010. 

2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/subscriptions/hits/kudos)

Subs is Chemicals with 177, bookmarks is Neko at 116, hits is Chemicals at  18600, and kudos is Chemicals again with 694. Stats are weird. 

3. What is your AO3 profile icon and why did you choose it? 

It’s ahegao Kuroko lmaaaaooooo. I chose it cause I love slutty Kuroko. 

4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?

Quite a few actually. Maybe too many to list even... I’d say High_Noon and Goldfasan are the ones I recognise or see the most?

5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?

I don’t actually read that much fanfiction? Which might be odd for someone who writes a lot of fanfiction. Idk I tend to find a few really good ones and then reread them for eternity and never look for anything new. Though tbh I haven’t read fanfiction for a number of months now. I’ve been too busy, or too stressed (and definitely too autistic). 

6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked? Subbed to 7 fics (most of which are really old and will never be updated, or are friends’ stories). I have 231 bookmarks. Apparently. I have no idea what they all are, because only 30 of them are my OTP, and I only started bookmarking last year, and again, I don’t read much. I think AO3 is lying to me. Likely, as it lists my subs as 67, but I counted them and there’s only 7 in there plus 2 author subs. Conspiracies. 

7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?

I define AU as ‘completely unrelated to the main plot’ so, if the KnB characters were in fuedal Japan. I use UA (universe alteration) to define things such as if a KnB story followed the general main plot (basketball) but had changes to it, such as omegaverse (though I don’t consider ships UAs). With that said, tbh I don’t think I have one? I write a whole range of stuff. I don’t think I lean towards any particular AU or UA. 

8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)

9. Is there something you'd like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)

Honestly I don’t think I’m ashamed of anything by this point. I’m probably one of the most non-judgemental and open-minded people you’ll meet, so I kinda have no shame with that. Like, I won’t judge other people for having weird interests, and therefore don’t feel any shame for my own because I see no reason to have a problem with it. If people don’t like my writing they don’t have to read it. No one’s forcing them to. 

10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc. 

I’m mostly okay at replying to comments, sometimes I won’t reply if I don���t know how to respond or I’m busy/tired. Unless I feel like there’s no reason to further reply to a comment, I’ll usually try to reply later (sometimes months....). I need to get better at putting description in instead of just rushing through something and shoving it at the internet saying “I’M SICK OF IT JUST TAKE IT HOW IT IS”. Ideally it would be nice to update more frequently and consistently but that’s something that will never change due to my mental and physical health sooo. Whatevs. 

11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?

tbh I think it’s arguable if even the more popular ships I write are even that popular. The most popular ship I write is Akakuro I guess? I do write a bunch of rarer pairs (Mayumibu hghghghgh also Aoaka yes) occasionally though.

12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?

87. Which I feel like is a lot considering I did about 50 of those in one year. 

13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?

39 in Google Docs. Possibly. I’m half asleep and may have missed some. I have a crap tonne more in MS Word, but I don’t want to count them all. Oh, fyi, these are only for my current fandom. I have other stories in Docs and Word that are original or other fandoms. 

14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?

Write everything down. Either in a document or just in the notes on my phone. 

15. Have you ever co-authored a story?

No, but I’d like to. It sounds interesting. 

16. How did you discover AO3?

An uh, ex-something found it in 2013 and showed it to me. I liked it more than FF.net, which always gave me a headache with it’s shitty UI and layout, and Livejournal, which was either dead or didn’t exist for my fandoms back then. Does anyone still even use those 2 sites as their main story platform?

17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3?

Not at all. I might say I am possibly known or recognised, but I definitely do not think famous or popular at all. Far from it. 

18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?

Does anyone? I’m not published yet lmao and neither am I a Korean idol so uhhh, no, my readers do not have a nickname or fandom. 

19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?

I would say no. No one prompted me to start writing when I was little, I just did it cause I liked it. Even when I started writing seriously, and when I started writing fanfiction, it was all me. I guess there have been writers who have inspired me to get better though? Namely Mikssi and goseum-dochi. 

20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?

I was once told that if you can't think of anything to write just put SOMETHING on the page. Be it a date or a title or an idea. Just get something on the page. I now start every story by dating when exactly I started it (yes even the exact time). It's less intimidating that way. Writing down my ideas also helps me plan. 

21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?

I often have a general idea or at least ideas for future chapters. But mostly I just bullshit my way through it lmao. It often backfires. 

22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?

The only negative comment I've gotten on a story that really upset me was once being called insensitive when referring to sexual abuse. It really offended me because. Um. You... do not know my past experiences. At all. And I'm not going to bring them up because of that. But wow. And it bothered me too that they called me insensitive when I was just writing from experience. Like ok. Sure. Cool. I mean I could see where they were coming from, but I’m going to take a guess and say they had never experienced what I was writing about.  I’ve gotten a couple of other negative comments, but they didn’t upset or ‘get to me’ so much as just piss me off due to the stupidity of them. 

23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)

24. What story(s) are you working on now?

Uhhh, I guess mostly right now I’m working on Nano, and one other story. I have unfinished and ongoing things, but they’re on the back burner right now. 

25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?

To a really problematic degree. 

26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?

Definitely not. Way too much pressure. Do not need. 

27. Do you think you've improved as a writer since you first started?

My god, yes. From my early original (shite) stories of 2007-2009, to my really early (also shite) fandom fics in 2011-2012, to my explosion in the VIXX fandom (at least 80% shite), to now... My goodness. I’m actually in the half-hearted process of editing old AO3 fics to be easier on the eyes. Mostly that’s relatively minor changes. If I went back to AFF. Hoo. I’m highkey scared of looking at some of those again. 

28. What is your favorite story that you've written?

I guess I’d say Chemicals. It’s a story I always wanted to do, and I’m happy with how it turned out. I also have to make mention to NMT, since that thing was my life for like 2 years, and writing it helped a lot. I also am quite fond of what I refer to as my ‘cat vampire story’ aka this. I also don’t mind my story Wanderlust. I think I put more effort into that one than I do with most things I write. 

29. What is your least favorite story that you've written?

MMMMM I can think of it and I don’t want to acknowledge its existence at all. IT NEVER HAPPENED AND IT WAS A MISTAKE. Also NMT. 

30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?

Probably not published yet but goddamn will I try (not very hard though)

31. What is the easiest thing about writing?

For me it's writing dialogue. Chat room/text message based dialogue is especially fun.

32. What is the hardest thing about writing?

Starting and ending the story (or, if it’s a chaptered story, ending the chapter). Also liking your own work. And not comparing yourself to others. And holding onto the hope that maybe one day you’ll actually be successful and you should keep going.

idek. It’s fun? Satisfying? It arguably sometimes entertains people? Gives me something to do. Unleash all that creativity bopping around up there. idk. Do I need a reason?
