Moriarty spoiler warning
So. YnM is definitely one of those morally ambiguous shows. And in more than just a 'vigilante justice' kinda way. Like, William was definitely a little douchebag, but also a product of the society he was growing up in. I doubt even as an adult he would end up seeing the truth like Albert already did. I have no doubt he would absolutely turn into their father as he got older. But god is it still kinda really fucking tough watching his big brother horrifically stab him. And as sad as that was and much as I'd say William didn't deserve to be murdered for the ways he's mistreated people, it's proof that YnM is clearly a show where no one is 100% right or wrong. William wasn't right for abusing the house staff and looking down on the poor, but he didn't deserve getting stabbed and then burning to death. Albert wasn't wrong for hating the very upper class he grew up in cuz they are shit people, but he wasn't right for personally stabbing his little brother with his own hands. And I can't even begin to contemplate where Moriarty falls(meanwhile Louis so far seems like he's just along for the ride). But at the same time it doesn't really matter. There's a lesson on classism to learn here, and I would say that's the only point. It's not 'what is justified and what isn't' or 'how far is too far'. It's that the class system is ultimately what caused all of this. Are any of the brothers' actions right or wrong? Doesn't matter. This is simply the fallout of a deeply flawed society that we're forced to watch unfold and we can't do anything about it.
