ship tiem: saioumota

saioumota (shuichi x ouma x kaito) was suggested by anon! thank you for the message!  haha hero complex x professional clown x anxiety with legs go brrrrrr ill be doing the rest of the ships that were suggested in the order that I get them, so please wait your turn! also, forgot to mention this earlier, certain characters I just like to call by their last name, sorry if it’s annoying :,)

analysis:

ah,  yes, saioumota, the “these ships are good so why not make them one poly ship” trio. ill start by dividing it into all three of the ships: saiouma, saimota, and oumota.

saiouma, the more popular of the three, is quite the interesting ship. ouma’s queer teases throughout the story s u r e l y fuel this ship, although it can be taken as toxic. ouma takes interest in the ultimate detective throughout the entire story, trying to learn more and more about him while keeping his own personality distanced. i’d say cannonically this ship is very one sided, but i can see shuichi learning to see ouma for the person he is beyond the liar persona, and it being a healthy relationship for the both of them.

saimota doesn’t need that much explaining, honestly. i mean, l o o k a t t h e m???? kaito genuinely cares for shuchi throughout the whole story, and shuichi often finds himself relying on the other. 

plus, the “I shouldn’t be thinking of another guy like that” line was just,,, Not Hetero.

oumota is really interesting, to say the least. if you look at kaito’s love hotel event, plus their interactions in UTDP, you can see that kaito really does need some way to bring out his competitive side, and ouma could easily fill that role in a healthy way if they weren’t in a killing game. also, how they worked together in ch5 was really interesting. in the cannon universe, this ship is just two narrative foils and it’s cute so really nothing else needs to be said.

as a poly ship, their personalities bounce off each other really well and they just,,, boys. ouma would really love the constant attention (on the other side of that though, I can see him becoming jealous), kaito r e a l l y likes to latch himself onto other people and such, and shuichi just needs-no, deserves-the love his harem anime protagonist genes give him.

personal opinion:

im really mixed on how I feel about this one. ive only become interested in this ship because of the fact that the tags for saimota on ao3 and tumblr have exploded with this ship, ahah. the ship is really cute, and the aesthetic is very nice.  lowkey, i want them to live together and be happy and they all have this huge family with kaito’s grandparents and shuichi’s uncle and DICE and ajeagoegieoigeaiogohg but, i mean, as a filthy multishipper like i am, i honestly have ships i like even more than this one. y u h

headcannons:

shuichi really likes to be hugged and the others aren’t complaining

ouma and shuichi never sleep much so kaito makes them go to bed on many occasions.

ouma and kaito both can’t cook, like, at all. at least kaito doesn’t burn the house down making cereal.

kaito often leaves the other boys on read because he can’t figure out how to spell compliments. same bro, same.

ouma watches anime really loudly and kaito is like,,, “ what tf is this, ” then ends up crying over it for the next hour

ouma calls them pet names alot. most of the time they come off as stupid and/or insults but that’s exactly what he wanted.

kaito, however, is the kinda guy who would call you babe and dude in the same sentence.

ouma challenges them to play yu-gi-oh with him and shuichi ends up taking it really seriously, to the point of like, a full out battle. 

ouma makes fun of kaitos “bird hair” and takes his hair gel. also calls him gay as an insult and kaito is like “ binch??? you’re???? what???? “

shuichi is a literal disaster any time one of his bfs compliments him and is really worried that he isn’t doing enough for the others

so then he comes up with some sort of outing or something that 99% of the time just leads to chaos because it’s kaito and ouma let’s face it
