(  hannah waddingham,  cis woman,  she/her  )  —  🎬  just  announced,  prudence 'prue' atkinson  has  been  cast  as  miranda priestly  in  the  upcoming the devil wears prada  reboot.  the  fifty-one  year  old  is  trending  as  people  are  debating  if  the  swaying hips, pencil skirts, charming smile, the smell of chanel nr. 5, the colors of the polyamorous flag  that  they  are  known  for  is  enough  to  make  them  as  good  as  original.  a  quick  google  search  shows  that  their  fans  call  them  confident,  but  internet  trolls  think  they’re  more  attention-seeking.  i  guess  their newest  interview  for  variety  where  they  talk  about  coming out in the nineties  will  let  people  to  know  them  better.  (  storm,  26,  gmt+1,  they/them)

born in 1973 to a nurse and a bank teller, prudence grew up in a very normal household, she didn't have everything her heart desired but she had a nice childhood.

she loved acting from an early age so it wasn't a surprise she tried very hard to get into the industry at a young age. her parents didn't stand in her way, but didn't help her either. her career started in 80s commercials as a teenager and she had some very small guest roles as a teenager. she thought she wasn't going to get anywhere and almost decided to become a hairdresser.

on a whim, she auditioned with a videotape for xena: the warrior princess and GOT IT. in 1995, she started in her role as gabriella, which would change her life forever. not only did she gain a queer following, it also made her comfortable to come out publicly in 1998 as - at that time - bisexual. now, she identifies as pansexual.

her career seemed dead before it even started because of her coming out but prue found her niche acting in big and small queer productions until she landed a role in mulholland drive, a movie that went on to be a great success.

after that, she landed the role of alice pieszecki in the l word which solidified her status as a queer, most notably lesbian, icon. it was also in that period she got together with the woman who is still her partner to this day (wanted connection alert)

she never got married, doesn't have any kids, and just loves to enjoy life. last year, she made it public knowledge that she is in an open relationship after rumors she was cheating on her partner - which she most certainly wasn't.

she isn't the biggest star, but she is certainly well known, and now, being cast as miranda priestly is her biggest, most mainstream role in years. carol was only a blip, really - but this was a very big movie back in the day. it is terrifying to step into such big shoes, but she is ready to fill them.

She is an American actress. The Modern Mindutme Alphabet

The Modern Mindutme alphabet is one descendant of the Old Mindutme Alphabet, discussed in my previous post. It has 31 letters, adding six to the original set. A number of letters have changed their sounds due to the development of the Mindutme language, so there are now several letters with multiple possible sounds, as well as a few sounds with multiple spellings.

Several of the original vowel letters have differing sounds based on stress. The first sound shown below is for unstressed syllables, and the second is for stressed ones.

ix → yaqh [jɐꭓ] “spoon” — /i, jɐ/ ([ɨ] when unstressed and following a retroflex consonant) ul → wal [wɐɫ] “bowl” — /u, wɐ/ et → it [it] “foot” — /e, i/ ([ɛ] when adjacent to a uvular consonant, [ɨ] when stressed and following a retroflex consonant) ohis → oys [ɔjs] “pine tree” — /o, u/ ([ɔ] when adjacent to a uvular consonant)

ɛhɔr → ewr [ɛwɾ] “hook” — /ɛ/ (only occurs in stressed syllables) ɔne → one [ˈɔ.ne] “spear” — /ɔ/ (only occurs in stressed syllables) ɑl → al [ɐɫ] “food” — /ə, ɐ/

There are now six more vowel letters, each deriving from a ligature of two of the above.

it-al — /eə/ oys-al — /oə/ ewr-wal — /ɛw/

one-yaqh — /ɔj/ al-yaqh — /ɐj/. In the dialect of Voṣeaṣi, the capital city, this has become /ɛ/ or /e/, depending on stress. al-wal — /ɑw/. In the same dialect, this is /ɔ/ or /o/.

The consonants are in general less changed, though several have allophonic variation.

(The situation with retroflex consonants is not actually allophonic, but it’s a bit much to get into in this post.)

Though Old Mindutme had several writing directions, Modern Mindutme has settled on left-to-right. A brief note I forgot to mention in the last post: in Old Mindutme, several letters had multiple versions depending on writing direction. In general, et “foot” would point to the left in right-to-left text, and to the right in left-to-right text; likewise with wɔɔg, juket, rɛldɛn, nogɛ, veud, and kiɛt. When Modern Mindutme settled on left-to-right writing, most of these letters settled with the corresponding orientation. The only exceptions are waqhet and kyet, which happened to end up pointing to the left.

As discussed in this post, there are two styles of writing Mindutme. One is a disconnected “print” style, which simply takes the above letters and puts them together in sequence. The other, the kakhmikrn or calligraphic style, joins the letters together so that every word is a single connected unit, often distorting the letter forms somewhat to do this. A letter may be to the right of, below, or even within or around the previous letter, ideally fitting in with the general shape of the word as gracefully as possible. Whenever possible, strokes are combined to enhance the flow of the entire word.

Here are the modern equivalents to the sentences from the last post, in both styles. First, fya kren “I wrote”:

Some words can naturally combine more elegantly than others. This blog’s icon might be mistaken for a single glyph of a more complex writing system, but it’s actually the interrogative particle zvu:

A = Attractive (What do they find attractive about their partner?)

Physically: Jonathan loves Darlene’s eyes. The green color reminds him of the forest.  

Mentally: Darlene’s smart, perhaps not in the same way as Jonathan but he loves that she can hold a conversation with him. Also that she never bores him. 

B = Baby (Do they want a family? Why/Why not?)

The thought of having children never appealed to Jonathan, until he met Darlene. He realized that having a child with her would tie her down to him even more. Also, he liked the thought of continuing his bloodline, which is like a weird male way of thinking. 

C = Cuddle (How do they like to cuddle?)

I’ll just shows images of how Jonathan loves to hold Darlene ;)

D = Dreams (How do they picture their future with their S/O?)

Jonathan pictures a future with Darlene as his wife, them having a child together, and her focusing more on her wifely and home duties than her job. 

E = Everything (You are my ____ (e.g. my life, my world…))

F = Feelings (When did they know they’re in love?)

Can you call what Jonathan feels for Darlene to be love?

Hmm.

Well, if you do then it’s from the moment he first saw her.

I view Jonathan as the type to just expect Darlene to be the grateful one. In his mind he was the one who ‘helped’ her get pass her trauma.

Uhhhh yes Jonathan does have secrets from Darlene. I don’t think I need to say what these secrets are. 

I = Injury (How would they react if S/O got hurt?)

Jonathan would get so angry. And we all know how he gets when he's angry... o.O

J = Jealousy (Do they get jealous? How do they deal with it)

This dude is possessive and gets jealous easy. He’s like another version of Aemond, only he has fear toxin he can use. Imagine if they met and talked about their significant others. 

K = Kiss (How do they kiss S/O? How do they like to be kissed?)

Jonathan’s first kiss with Darlene will be sweet. He’s careful in not scaring her off and letting her make the first move but after that kiss the rest he pretty much tries to take charge of. 

L = Love (Who says ‘I love you’ first?)

Jonathan does. He says it once they’re together but he's been wanting to say it way before that. 

M = Memory (What’s their favorite memory together?)

The first time they have sex will be memorable for Jonathan.

Jonathan thinks that by spoiling Darlene that she’ll love and forgive him. But this dude gives her stuff that he likes more than she does...like excuse me sir. 

O = On Cloud Nine (What are they like when they’re in love? Is it obvious for others? How do they express their feelings?)

Jonathan puts on a different ‘mask’ when around Darlene. With her he’s a lot softer than how he is with others. I mean, look how he talks to Rachel. It’s the complete opposite with Darlene. 

Jonathan mainly expresses his feelings through words but also acts of kindness. He has a way with twisting words and doing acts of kindness that make him look like Prince Charming. 

P = Pet names (What pet names do they use?)

Jonathan calls Darlene, my darling and the iconic my darling Darlene. 

Q = Questions (What are the questions they’re always asking?)

Oh, the kinds of questions that butt into Darlene’s business o.O

R = Rainy Day (What do they like to do on a rainy day?)

Jonathan loves rainy days. Does that surprise you? It just gives him an excuse for Darlene to stay at his apartment to spend some time together. He makes them food, picks out books for them to read, puts on a movie, and then afterwards if they don’t head into the bedroom they nap on the couch...

I feel like Jonathan would be the type to hate feeling sad. It’s an emotion he’s not familiar with because of how well he's done with burying it down. When he does feel sadness he’d quickly do his best to change it into anger. And when he’s angry he tends to release that anger onto his patients through his experiments. 

T = Talking (What do they like to talk about?)

Jonathan is an intellectual. But the main topics he’d love to talk about is psychology or psychopharmacology. With Darlene he’d love explaining things to her. 

U = Understanding (How well do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?)

Jonathan believes he knows Darlene because of how attentive of a boyfriend and soon to be fiancé he is. 

V = Value (How important is the relationship to them? What is it worth in comparison to other things in their life?)

To Jonathan his relationship with Darlene is as important as his work.

Jonathan honestly is the type to want to sign the marriage license. He doesn’t want it to be a huge thing but obviously he’d still want Darlene to wear a wedding dress. He would made reservations at a fancy restaurant for them to eat at afterwards and then they’d head right into their honeymoon. However none of that ends up happening.
