Meet :: LEXXA (as a solo artist) 🟣💜🟣
From 1989 to 1993, Alex was the former member of the duo group, ALERIE, that consisted of herself and her little sister Valerie. The girls acclaimed a crazy amount of fame throughout those years and became, not only a household name, but worldwide superstars. Yet and still, due to family issues and personal differences, the girls decided to disband the group. Alex wanted to venture deeper into fame and find her artistry and Valerie wanted the opposite. She was appreciative of their fame and stardom but wanted to live outside of that. So, the girls and their label decided to release their 5th and final studio album, SYMPHONY, in 1993. They promoted the album like normal, toured for the album and added their other songs to the track list and then parted ways.
With many accolades to her name, Alex wanted to build on that, pave a lane for herself, and establish herself as an artist. She was used to sharing the stage with her sister and them doing songs and music videos together. Yet now, she was on her own. She had to pave a lane for herself. The media was used to seeing her and her sister together but now they would see her alone, on and off the stage. She decided that a stage name was necessary. She chose on LEXXA because that was her nickname, mostly used at the time, for family and friends. (that is what name I'll be using for her from now on).
Her and her sister's tour ended in the latter half of 1993 and when it ended, LEXXA decided to get permanent residence in Bridgeport and bought a beautiful house for herself and her daughter Raine.
The entire of 1994, LEXXA worked on a few features that were released but she generally stayed out of the limelight and chose to focus solely on practicing how to become a solo artist. She bought Raine everywhere with her while she tirelessly worked on music. She was searching to find her unique sound and incorporated more dancing skills in her sonic routine. In that time, she wrote majority of her first 3 albums and had concepts to follow.
Firstly, I'll showcase some of her very first photoshoot pics as a solo artist. ((**** again, the women used in the pics below are more reference pics, hence them looking so different from the previous reference photos...and if anyone asks, the first one (photoshoot pics) is Jasmine Tookes & Beyonce.))
Then I'll show pics of her first 3 albums.... identified similarly to the posts of her previous albums with her sister. ((**** i'm not sure who the gorgeous woman is on the first 2 albums, but the 3rd one is Beyoncee, of course...and the photos DO NOT belong to me, I got them from Pinterest...))

LEXXA - 'LOVE&FAME' DEBUT Album - 15 Tracks
Album Description:
In January 1995, LEXXA premiered her single "FEELING (IN LOVE)," a standalone track that offered a glimpse of what was to come. With its strong hip-hop influences, the song captured the euphoria of being in love, featuring a slower piano ballad chorus that builds up to her iconic, bass-heavy refrain. While the album showcased a blend of pop, R&B, and hip-hop, LEXXA remained true to her signature soulful R&B sound. Her sultry voice and artistry truly shone throughout, complemented by remarkable features that added depth to this timeless collection. Before the albums official release, Her and her team released 4 singles for this album, (1) 'I Would Die for You' (2) 'Love Like This featuring Tenna Playe' (3) 'In Your Eyes' featuring Valerie & Bairra Angelista & (4) 'Never Leave featuring VETTE22.'
LEXXA's debut solo album, LOVE&FAME, was released on Valentine's Day, (February 14, 1995) to widespread acclaim. The media buzzed with excitement, recognizing her true artistic potential. Launched unexpectedly on a Friday, this album revealed a more experimental side of LEXXA, with producers Johnathan T. Rogers (aka JTR) and Kehlum (Divine) blending contemporary R&B with hip-hop influences. The album features a mix of mid to high-tempo R&B ballads and dance tracks with influences from 70s funk, 80s pop, and 90s soul. This album in its entirety, showcases a softer side of LEXXA while still maintaining her vocal prowess.
The album included energetic, club-oriented tracks like "Love Eternal," featuring the iconic 80s band The 5 Bridges, as well as other hits like "Love Like This" with popular reggae artist Tenna Playe and "I Would Die for You." These club anthems were balanced by soulful ballads such as "Love is Our Superpower," showcasing her powerful vocals and incorporating elements like Arabian scales and reggae beats. One of the album's standout tracks was the collaboration with her sister Valerie on the track "In Your Eyes." This song not only rekindled happy memories for fans but also became a radio sensation. Though they only produced a music video for the song, they didn’t perform it live until many years later in LEXXA's career.
Overall, LOVE&FAME was a fun and dynamic listening experience that expanded LEXXA's artistry beyond her teenage fanbase, attracting a wave of new listeners. LEXXA won quite a few accolades for this album, such as at the 1995 Grammys Award Show, LEXXA was nominated for 'Best New Artist', 'Album of The Year', 'Love Like This' was awarded to 'Song of The Year', and 'In Your Eyes' featuring Valerie, was included in 'Best Pop Performance by a Group or Duo with Vocals.' And lastly, 'Love Eternal' featuring The 5 Bridges was awarded to 'Best Pop Vocal Collab. LEXXA won all 5 awards that night.'

[Released in 1998]
LEXXA - 'EUPHORIA' - 2nd Album - 31 Tracks
Album Description:
It had been a total of 3 years since her last album and big debut despite how badly fans begged LEXXA for another album, she made it very clear that when it comes to her making and releasing music, she is never going to put out an album just to put it out, be on the charts, or make a check. She wanted every single album, every single track, and feature to mean something to her and most importantly, she always wanted to be proud of her work no matter how long it took. Quality over quality was always her motto. During these 3 years, she didn't completely go on a hiatus. She began working on acting career/portfolio by starring in a few TV show episodes, and did a few iconic Pepsi and make-up commercials.
Before the albums official release, LEXXA and her team released 5 singles for this album, (1) 'Rather Die Young' (2) 'Until the End of Time' featuring June Aubrey (3) 'Sweet Baby' (4) 'Love on Fire' featuring iconic 90s husband and wife duo, John & Macy Bridgerton & (5) 'Party All Night Long' featuring pop diva XNOVA.
At the album's release party, LEXXA described this album as being the older more mature sister of her debut album. LEXXA had started an on and off again relationship with her child's father, Matthew Hamming. They had a son together named Jacent. LEXXA was now 26 years old, and she felt very much grown and this album embodied that. The album was released on Friday, June 19, 1998. The media buzzed with excitement knowing that LEXXA was back in the music scene. LEXXA wrote the album expressing the journey of womanhood, motherhood, and triumphing through life despite the pains that come. LEXXA said this album helped her not to fall into a deep depression during her and Matthew's rocky relationship. She felt as though, she had to keep fighting and stay strong for her children, Raine and Jacent. When thinking about the production of this album, LEXXA stated how much she fell in love with Kehlum's (Divine) producing elements and it was imperative for her to work with him again on this album. Kehlum is accredited for every single track on this album. This album was heavily influenced by hip-hop, and R&B and based with hints of soulful pop.
LEXXA named the album 'EUPHORIA' because she said the albums instrumentals made her feel euphoric and she felt certain songs upheld the same tempo, such as, the lead single, 'Rather Die Young' & 'Diva.' The album kept the same energetic and club-oriented sound. Hence why LEXXA repeatedly put the same tracks this album as the previous one, but they were reworked and were solely redone by Kehlum, so they had a completely different sound to them and followed the hip-hop vibe of the album. Even though sonically this album was quite similar to the last, the subject matters were more mature. On hit soulful, tracks like 'Moonlight', 'Soul/Passionate', & 'I Never Wanna Leave My Baby', LEXXA tells a story about flirting with a man and taking the next step in their relationship romantically.
LEXXA again showcased her powerful sultry vocals and incorporating elements of Arabian scales along with reggae beats. One of the album's standalone tracks was the collaboration with her John & Macy Bridgerton on the track 'Love on Fire.' LEXXA had a lot of fun making this track in the studio and it showed when the track played. She completely let her vocals go on this track and had an insane pattern of head voice and incredible riffs.
Overall, EUPHORIA was again a fun and dynamic album that expanded LEXXA's artistry and continued attracting waves of new listeners. LEXXA won quite a few accolades for this album, such as at the 1995 Grammys Award Show, LEXXA was nominated for 'Best New Artist', (again). The album was awarded for 'Album of The Year' and 'Best Female Vocal Performance.' And the single, 'Soul/Passionate' was awarded to 'Song of The Year', and 'We Like to Party (Hey Aye), was acclaimed to 'Record of the Year', 'Dance All Night', went to Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, and lastly, 'Until the End of Time' featuring June Aubrey was awarded to 'Best Pop Vocal Collab. LEXXA won all 7 awards that night.' In her Grammy speech, she stated, "Oh my goodness. Again?! Thank you, guys so much. You all are too kind. I can't believe this. I just wanna say, thank you to Kehlum Divine for being the amazing producer for this album. Thank you to the incredible engineers, Mike Dowell, Christian Keegs, and Tommie Jameson. Along with the incredible writers for this album, Mariah Silverstone, Kaylah Brinks, Karerra Newman, Jay, Timbone, Nathaniel Peterson, Kelly Blue, Tru Amaya Richardson and anyone else I may have forgotten. I told my team; I was so pleased with the last album that I wanted to make a repeat of that, and WE DID IT YALL!!!! ***screams and bounces around on stage*** Thank you to the Grammys. And thank you to the wonderful fans. To many more years to come." ****holds up Grammy in the air towards audience***

LEXXA - 'BABYGIRL' - 3rd Album -
[Original] 16 Tracks / [Deluxe] 21 Tracks
Album Description:
Before the release of her album, from 1996 to 2001, LEXXA starred as Aaliyah Banks, affectionately nicknamed "Babygirl," on the beloved 90s TV show SWEET BANKS. Aaliyah was a fun, ambitious, intelligent, and outspoken teenager navigating the complexities of young adulthood. Ironically, her character aspired to achieve success in music and television—much like LEXXA herself. The singer blended her own experiences with Aaliyah’s, stating that this album was inspired by the kind of music she imagined her character would create. While the album may not have been as mature as her previous work, it was undeniably twice as fun, featuring funky, eclectic beats infused with contemporary R&B, sultry soul, and vibrant pop.
For this project, LEXXA assembled an entirely new team of writers, producers, and engineers, resulting in hit songs like "Your Babygirl," "(You Give Me) Butterflies," "The Way You Love Me (Love Me for Who I Am)," "A R T," "I'll Be Your Peace" featuring pop sensation Sterza, "Eternal Flame" featuring Midos, and the outro track "My Babyboy," which features Atlanta rap icon ATG. As a concept album, LEXXA masterfully executed its theme, seamlessly weaving her dreams and aspirations with those of her character. The narrative toggles between Aaliyah’s hopeful perspective and LEXXA’s own journey as an accomplished artist still carving out her path.
The album garnered significant recognition, earning three Grammy nominations that year and winning two. Although she was nominated for Album of the Year, she lost to T. Anthony. However, both of her standout tracks, "Your Babygirl" and "My Babyboy," claimed the titles of Record of the Year and Song of the Year, respectively.

WXV1 Week 2
USA v France
Prediction: France by 22 Tl;dr: Thinking about vibes here: week 1 went quite well for US given their opponent was #1 team in the world England, while France lost by a surprisingly large margin to Canada. Expecting US to be feeling a lot of confidence and France, while they have something to prove, have shown some vulnerability and a lack of variation in attack. Players to watch: (US) Gabby Cantorna comes into 12 and moves Alev to 13, a move designed to offer a second playmaker but one that could expose them on defense without Emily Henrich's solid positioning at 13 controlling the outside channels. Alev was huge last weekend on attack so expect US to try a lot through her. (France) Alev's French opposite Konde #13 will give her a real run for her money. France's 15 Jacquet is critical to their kicking game, which will be an interesting test for Mac in the USA's double fullback set-up.
2. Canada v Ireland
Prediction: Canada by 17 Tl;dr: I think Canada is underestimating Ireland with their roster, though I still bet on them to get the win on the strength of their overall squad and how well their system suits them. Canada makes changes at #3, 5, 7, and 11; who all had strong performances last week. But Ireland have a big psychological test to get back to business after such a historic win, they're used to defending other European teams who play in very predictable patterns off 10, and they don't have the depth/interchangeability of Canada. The Ireland 9s were also driving me crazy last week with some of their decision making, or lack thereof, I think because they're primarily 7s players. Players to watch: (Canada) Gabrielle Senft was really good at #8 last week. #9 Justine "Petty" is a great fit with their style and one to watch for how we want to play. I hadn't seen the #13 play 15s before and wow, Shoshanah Seumanutafa has INSANE FOOTWORK.(Ireland) #3 Linda Djougang, #6 Erin King coming off the bench, and #7 Aoife Wafer were stand-outs last week. Shoutout to Djougang and #1 O'Dowd for both playing 80 minutes at prop last week (truly insane), though that doesn't signal good things for Ireland's depth and means they must be a bit tired. Djougang defends like a pesky lock/backrow in open play, especially keen on blowing up rucks. 3. New Zealand v England Prediction: England by 19 Tl;dr: These teams faced each other in a pre-WXV friendly and England won 24-12, though that scoreline looks a bit generous to NZ since they were never within a try. I expect a similar outcome this time or bigger. The Black Ferns' talk after the Ireland game was about taking too many quick-taps and not trusting their set piece enough; so expect them to try to game/territory manage more but I think have less success since they're competing against the best set-piece team in the world. Players to watch: (New Zealand) I don't like the changes here. Kaipo Olsen-Baker coming into #8 - a strong carrier but pretty one dimensional. Demant moves to #12 with the young Hannah King at #10, bumping Du Plesses off the roster which I think is a shame. (England) Big guns are back for England. Their preferred 9-10 combo are back after resting last week: Hunt and Aitchinson. Marlie Packer your favorite mom/loud-mouth bully is back at #7. Both locks are icons of the game. #12 Tatyana Heard is worth paying attention to as they've begun to have her do more and more playmaking on attack, whereas she used to be there to just beat defenders.
