Übermensch ended the seven year hiatus of iconic second generation rapper G-Dragon, the name representing the idol standing before the world as someone able to surpass his own self, and contains eight tracks including two pre-released singles as well as features from Anderson .Paak on 'Too Bad' and Min Himari on 'Drama'. With their voices being opposed to one another netizens were doubtful of whether they would ever sing together, yet the melody created by the artists was nothing less than heavenly as not only did they managed to transition seamlessly, but their harmony when shadowing one another created emotional depth.

It was then revealed that the graceful dancer flowing around the set to illustrate the storyline was the maknae herself, with several videos being shared from his social media account of the two practicing partner work whilst giggling. Himari has always been described as entrancing when on stage due to her incredible ability to convey complex emotions through the use of bewitching expressions combined with unique vocal rawness, which G-Dragon could not seem to tear his attention away from.

Throughout the music video themes of purity were associated with the vocalist's character, such as; the brief appearance of angel wings, blue contacts peeking over white feathers and ribbons wrapped around her arms to depict softness. Coincidentally this seemed to portray the young woman herself, who people have come to know as someone that even the skies seem to love, and netizens have come to speculate that the rapper had found a muse in her very soul.

At merely twenty three years of age the maknae's influence can be felt throughout the industry with every passing moment of her career, and people are holding their breaths at what artistic expressions are to follow. In a collaboration with Make-a-Wish Foundation, the Glory Professional Alliance hosts an event in Shanghai so that the children could meet their idols and heroes. It was a normal publicity stunt and charity event until it stopped being one. Trust Ye Xiu to always derail the Alliance's plans, but this time no one could blame him, or Han Wenqing, for that matter. Who would expect them to be so good with kids?

Trying New Things 2: Electric Bugaloo!

Though it's not my first time making a quarto size book, it's my first sewn board binding and my first breakaway spine. Will not be my last. (I'm fact, as I'm writing this I've already bound another QZGS fic using this method!)

Much like Coptic, the sewn board binding technique bypasses the exact things I dread about making a case bound book: making the cover and casing in. Haven't gotten the hang of spines or hinges yet. Or pasting down the endpapers when casing in. (Art imitating life: my books aren't straight and neither am I lol)

Drumming things on (use of minimal glue, only on edges where necessary) is a lot less stressful and means there is less moisture to worry about. However I have my doubts about the structural integrity and longevity of sewn board binding when compared to case binding. With minimal glueing there's less holding it together, and the particular method of covering the boards means that they're partially exposed, in all their onion-y glory (by which I mean 🧅layers✨).

Onto the design:

The endpapers are an image of Glory's heavenly domain, acquired from The King's Avatar Wikia (I just cropped out the pro teams' logos, then resized and cropped to fit.)

The covers were designed as one image so that the contents will flow and connect from one cover to the other.

A major theme of this story, I felt, was connection: the kids are meeting their heroes; HWQ and YX stun everyone by connecting so well with the kids, playing with them, encouraging them, and inspiring them; YX opens up about his backstory and reveals a similar dream to a kid; that same kid going on to become a pro with New Excellent Era.

To pull some quotes from the story: "Everything started with a dream between friends… but now that dream will end with a legacy", "after all, you're never going to be walking alone. Glory has never been mean to be played alone", YX "[continued] inspiring new generations of gamers long after he had retired."

Following that theme of connection, the controllers on the covers are physically connected with a pinkish-red wire. For that I went with a red string of fate, thinking along the lines of fate and a love of Glory. The wire is also in the shape of a cancer awareness ribbon on the front cover (hence why the red is skewed pink).

The black and white controllers are like Player 1 & 2, and they're connected. To each other, to Glory.

I traced the gamepad icon with the pen tool in Affinity Designer, creating filled in curves of each component, for ease of recolouring and resizing without losing quality.

An equalizer background image, stretched and with low opacity, adds texture to the cover. It also reminded me of pixels from holograms. (The idea of the pros and kids' game playing out on stage with massive holograms really stuck with me).

I also wanted to directly reference Make-a-Wish in the cover design, so I looked up which font they use in the logo/branding. Search results turned up Georgia being used in relation to the brand, so I exclusively used that font on the covers. And added a little star above the 'i' in 'with', like in 'Wish' for the Make-a-Wish logo.

Ye-jun can click on another survivor’s icon to make them Concealed. When a survivor is Concealed, it will raise their undetectability to 75%. Whenever the Concealed survivor avoids detection, Ye-jun gains a stack which gives him an extra 20 points of stamina. Ye-jun has a max of 5 stacks at a time and loses the stack once the stamina is used up but can regain it.

However, if the Concealed survivor does get detected, the detection stays for the Concealed survivor 15 seconds longer than usual. This ability can only be used on one survivor and cannot be transferred if the survivor dies and the perk disappears once Ye-jun dies.

Backstory:

Ye-jun grew up in a well-off family that provided him with everything he could have ever needed. He knew he had it better than everyone but that still didn’t make him anyone spoilt. He still looked out for others and even shared what he had to those who needed it. Although, he still could say no if the time ever came. This made him generally liked among others even if Ye-jun only made his company reserved for a few.

One of Ye-jun’s surprising yet strong likes was his interest of pop music. He was interested in it and one day, he decided to audition for the position to be in a potential music group. Although he wasn’t expecting to get in, his talent and effort ended up landing him a position.

He soon met up with all his soon-to-be group members and he thought they were all polite and respectful but one of them stood out the most.

Dae-jung. 

He had this aura that just drew Ye-jun in like a fish on a hook. He was attentive, affable, easygoing, and not to mention drop-dead gorgeous. Before he knew it, Ye-jun had butterflies in his stomach whenever Dae-jung was around.

However, he knew that no matter how confident he was about his feelings and self-assured to take rejection, he couldn’t act on his feelings. It was only a matter of time before they became idols. And once they would make their debut, it was out of the question. But Dae-jung was so passionate about becoming one. He didn’t want to ruin his wishes before they could even flourish. So he stayed silent.

Eventually, their group, STAR*STRUCK made its debut and they became big. People loved them. Ye-jun and Dae-jung were soon big stars alongside their two other members Byung-ho and Han-gyeol. They were doing concerts, photoshoots, fan-meetups, making albums, even getting presents and letters from their fanbase. It became overwhelming.

But despite that, Ye-jun enjoyed every moment Dae-jung and him shared and he couldn’t wait for the next time they might lock a glance or have a conversation about whatever. This was all so exciting and new for Ye-jun to experience; he didn’t know how to contain his feelings.

He couldn’t contain his feelings.

Without meaning to, while Dae-jung and him were talking, his feelings bursted out. They were just leaning against each other while talking, Ye-jun didn’t mean to say he loved Dae-jung at that moment. Ye-jun grimaced, expecting a rejection at the very least and a scolding from the very worst.

“I love you too, Ye-jun.” 

None of the music STAR*STRUCK could produce could sound more heavenly than the words Dae-jung just uttered.

“H-Huh? You do?” Ye-jun blushed.

Dae-jung gave a nod back with a tender smile that could make Ye-jun’s heart melt.

Ye-jun soon started to smile. And soon, they shared a fleeting, but still passionate kiss.

Ever since then, Ye-jun and Dae-jung have been secretly dating. They didn’t tell anyone about it, not even their trusted members. They didn’t want to take even the slightest chance that they could be exposed. 

One day, they decided to have their first date. Of course, they first made it seem like they wanted the entire group there. But secretly, they planned it on a day where both Byung-ho and Han-gyeol were busy. They soon both went to a private spot on a hill. Just a simple romantic dinner for the two of them.

But when they woke up the morning after, they couldn’t have been expecting what came. They both woke up to a racket going on within the dorm their group shared. 

Their manager came in, revealing that their date had gotten out and how everyone was talking about it. They were soon swiftly fired for breaking their contract. Dae-jung and Ye-jun soon started to feel melancholic about what was in store for the future as Han-gyeol and Byung-ho left them to process everything.

As the two held each other for comfort, a white mist filled the room. And when Byung-ho and Han-gyeol went to check up on the both of them, there was no sign of them. Nothing that showed they left or were hiding, like they disappeared into thin air.

THE HOLY DISCIPLE AND PRIESTMARTYR SIMEON, KINSMAN OF THE LORD (107)

The Holy Apostle and Hieromartyr Simeon, a kinsman of the Lord, was Cleopas's son, the younger brother of Saint Joseph the Betrothed. Thus, Saint Simeon is Joseph's nephew and a cousin of the Lord. As an adult, he witnessed the miracles of the Lord Jesus Christ, believed in Him, and became one of the 70 Apostles. Saint Simeon proclaimed the teachings of Christ, was instructed in the truths of the Holy Faith, and denounced idol worship. After the murder of the Holy Apostle James (October 23), the first Bishop of Jerusalem, Christians chose the Apostle Simeon to succeed him.

The Emperors Vespasian and Domitian had ordered that all descendants of King David be put to death. Emperor Trajan (98-117) renewed that decree and certain heretics and others denounced Saint Simeon as a descendant of King David and a Christian.

The pagans arrested Saint Simeon, who was more than one hundred and twenty years old then. He astonished the judge and his attendants by enduring several days of torture, and then he was crucified in the year 107, during Trajan's reign, when Atticus was consul.

The Parisian Codices contain a Service in honor of Saint Simeon, the poem of the hymnographer Theophanēs. (Some Synaxaristes also commemorate him on September 18).

VENERABLE STEPHEN, ABBOT OF THE KIEV FAR CAVES  AND BISHOP OF VLADIMIR-VOLYNSK ( 1094)

Saint Stephen, Igumen of the Caves, Bishop of Vladimir in Volhynia, pursued asceticism at the Kiev Caves monastery under the guidance of Saint Theodosius (May 3). Saint Theodosius sometimes entrusted him to exhort the brethren with edifying words.

Before the death of Saint Theodosius the monks asked him to appoint Saint Stephen as Igumen, the domesticus (chief arranger for the choir). “He grew up under your instruction,” they said, “and he served you. Give him to us.” So Saint Theodosius transferred the guidance of the monastery to Saint Stephen.

During his tenure as Superior, he laid the foundations of a spacious church in honor of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos, begun under Saint Theodosius. The cells of the brethren were moved near the new church. At the front of the place were several cells for monks entrusted with burying the dead. They served the Divine Liturgy each day and also commemorated the dead.

In 1078 Saint Stephen was removed from office and driven from the monastery through the malice of an evil monk. He endured this meekly and without bitterness and continued to pray for those who had turned against him.

Saint Stephen learned that master builders had come from Greece with an icon of the Theotokos, and they told him of the appearance of the Heavenly Queen at Blachernae. Because of this, Saint Stephen also built a church at Klovo in honor of the Theotokos (in memory of the Placing of Her Robe at Blachernae). The monastery was founded in thanksgiving for the solicitude of the Most Holy Theotokos for the Caves monastery.

In 1091 Saint Stephen was made Bishop of Vladimir in Volhynia, and he participated in transferring the relics of Saint Theodosius from the cave to the monastery (August 14). He also labored to convert the inhabitants of Volhynia to Christianity.

Saint Stephen died on April 27, 1094, during the sixth hour of the night.

Other than Scripture, Darwin’s magnum opus, The Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, might be the most significant literary work in history. light of the unprecedented impact of Darwinian dogma, it would be reasonable to expect it to be solidly rooted in truth. “Abba, Father”

Today’s reading of the Scriptures from the New Testament is the 4th chapter of the letter of Galatians:

Listen. I am going to explain how this all works: When a minor inherits an estate from his parents, although he is the owner of everything, he is the same as a slave. Until the day set by his father, the minor is subject to the authorities or guardians whom his father put in charge. It is like that with us; there was a time when we were like children held under the elemental powers of this world. When the right time arrived, God sent His Son into this world (born of a woman, subject to the law) to free those who, just like Him, were subject to the law. Ultimately He wanted us all to be adopted as sons and daughters. Because you are now part of God’s family, He sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts; and the Spirit calls out, “Abba, Father.” You no longer have to live as a slave because you are a child of God. And since you are His child, God guarantees an inheritance is waiting for you.

During the time before you knew God, you were slaves to powers that are not gods at all. But now, when you are just beginning to know the one True God—actually, He is showing how completely He knows you—how can you turn back to weak and worthless idols made by men, icons of these spiritual powers? Haven’t you endured enough bondage to these breathless idols? You are observing particular days, months, festival seasons, and years; you have me worried that I may have wasted my time laboring among you.

Brothers and sisters, I have become one of you. Now it’s your turn—become as I am. You have never wronged me. Do you remember the first time I preached the good news to you? I was sick, and I know my illness was a hardship to you, but you never drew back from me or scorned me. You cared for me as if I were a heavenly messenger of God, possibly as well as if I were the Anointed Jesus Himself! Don’t you remember? What has happened to your joy and blessing? I tell you, the place was so thick with love that if it were possible, you would have plucked out your eyes and handed them to me. And now, do I stand as your enemy because I tried to bless you with the truth? I’ll tell you what these false brothers and sisters are counting on: your attention. They are ravenous for it. They are not acting honorably or in your best interests. They want to keep you away from the good news we proclaim so they can have you all to themselves. Listen, there’s nothing wrong with zeal when you’re zealous for God’s good purpose. And what’s more, you don’t have to wait for me to be with you to seek the good. My dear children, I feel the pains of birth upon me again, and I will continue in labor for you until the Anointed One is formed completely in you. I wish I were there. This letter is really harsh, yet I am really perplexed by you.

Now it’s your turn to instruct me. All of you who want to live by the rules of the law, are you really listening to and heeding what the law teaches? Listen to this: it’s recorded in the Scripture that Abraham was the father of two sons. One son was born to a slave woman, Hagar, and the other son was born to a free woman, Abraham’s wife, Sarah. The slave woman’s son was born through only natural means, but the free woman’s son was born through a promise from God. I’m using an allegory. Here’s the picture: these two women stand for two covenants. The first represents the covenant God made on Mount Sinai—this is Hagar, who gives birth to children of slavery. Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and she stands for the Jerusalem we know now. She has lived in slavery along with her children. But there is a Jerusalem we know above. She is free, and she is our mother. Isaiah wrote,

Be glad, you who feel sterile and never gave birth!

Raise a joyful shout, childless woman, who never went into labor!

For the barren woman produces many children,

more than the one who has a husband.

So you see now, brothers and sisters, you are children of the promise like Isaac. The slave’s son, born through only what flesh could conceive, resented and persecuted the one born into the freedom of the Spirit. The slave’s son picked at Isaac, just as you are being picked at now. So what does the Scripture say? “Throw out the slave and her son, for the slave’s son will never have a share of the inheritance coming to the son of the free woman.” So, brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman, but sons and daughters of the free.

The Letter of Galatians, Chapter 4 (The Voice)

Today’s paired reading from the First Testament is the 20th chapter of the book of Leviticus:

The Eternal One spoke to Moses.

Eternal One: Tell the people of Israel that if any of them or any outsiders living among them present their children as human sacrifices to Molech, they will be put to death. The entire community must see to it that he is stoned to death. I will turn against that man and cut him off from his community because he presented one of his children to Molech; he has desecrated My sanctuary and My sacred reputation. If the people in the community fail to handle the situation and do not execute him after he presents his children to Molech, then I will take the matter into My own hands and turn against the man and his family. I will cut him and all those who prostitute themselves with Molech off from their community.

Eternal One: I will turn against any individual who prostitutes himself by turning to mediums and consulting with those who communicate with the spirits of the dead. I will cut him off from his community. Dedicate yourselves exclusively to the one True God and become holy, for I, the Eternal your God, am holy. Keep My directives and practice My commands, for I am the Eternal who sanctifies you.

Anyone who utters a curse on his father or mother must be put to death, for he has dishonored them, and their blood is on him.

If a man commits adultery with his neighbor’s wife, both offenders must be put to death. If a man has sexual relations with his father’s wife, he might as well have violated his father; both offenders must be put to death, for their blood is on them. If a man has sexual relations with his daughter-in-law, both offenders must be put to death; for they have engaged in a disgusting act and their blood is on them. If a man has sexual relations with another man, they have participated in a detestable act. Both men are to be put to death, for their blood is on them. Any man who marries a woman and her mother commits a depraved act. He and both women are to be burned to death so that such depravity will not exist in the community. Any man who engages in a sexual act with an animal is to be put to death along with the animal. Any woman who approaches an animal to engage in some sexual act must be put to death along with the animal, for their blood is on them.

It is a shameful and dishonorable act for any man to marry his sister and have sexual relations with her; it doesn’t matter whether she is his father’s daughter or mother’s daughter. Both of them must be cut off from their community. Any man who has sexual relations with his sister will bear his guilt and suffer the consequences. If a man has sexual relations with a woman who is menstruating, he has uncovered the source of her flow and she has exposed it to him; both the man and the woman must be cut off from the community. Do not have sexual relations with your aunt, whether she is the sister of your mother or father. Any man who does such a thing has disgraced his relative. Both offenders are guilty and must suffer the consequences. If a man has sexual relations with his uncle’s wife, he might as well have violated his uncle. Both offenders will suffer the consequences of their sin; they will die childless. If a man has sexual relations with his brother’s wife, he has committed a disgraceful, dishonorable act; He might as well have violated his brother; they will die childless.

Therefore, keep all My directives and My rules so that the land I am giving you will not vomit you out. Do not follow in the footsteps of the people who lived in the land before you and whom I will remove from the land when you take possession of it, for they committed wicked acts like the ones described here; this is why I despise them. As I have already told you, “You will inherit the land that was theirs. I am giving you this land flowing with milk and honey as your possession.” I am the Eternal One your God who has set you apart from all the other people. Consequently you must know the difference between a ritually pure and impure animal and a pure and impure bird. Do not make yourselves detestable by eating an animal, a bird, or any small creature that I have designated as ritually impure. You must be holy, for I, the Eternal One, am holy, and I have chosen you from all the people of the world to be My people.

Any person among you who is a medium or tries to communicate with the spirits of the dead must be put to death. They are to be stoned to death, for their blood will be required of them.

Sexuality is a powerful force for good in humanity. But perversion brings impurity into the world; it defiles the moral and natural order of creation.

"Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh" (Luke 6:21). Despite the heartache of our present life and the grief we now bear, sorrow will not be given the last word, but rather laughter and joy... And even now, in the midst of our afflictions, we can laugh at the prospect of the coming great Day when all things shall be completely healed, the untrue will be made true, the crooked made straight, and our hearts deepest dream for love will be fulfilled...

Nonetheless we still weep because we see the world as painful, tragic, and filled with so much sadness; we cry out for deliverance; we mourn over our lives and for the lives of others we love... If you have a heart that still can feel, you know the crushing weight of sin, you share the agony of others who struggle with their sufferings; and you may feel nearly suffocated by the darkness, pain, and inconsolable despair. Indeed only those who are heartless can laugh at the troubles of this world, unmoved and untouched by the sorrows of others, perhaps because they are insulated in their moneyed indifference or else because they scorn life as "hard" and unforgiving, yet in either case we hear Yeshua add, "Woe to you who laugh now" (either in levity or in bitterness), "for you shall mourn and weep" (Luke 6:25). So you see how it is: God's people will always be “out of step” with this world and its godlessness and idolatry. Genuine faith is a form of protest against any interpretation of reality that denies or minimizes the truth of the Divine Presence and therefore it suffers as the world exchanges truth for the lie.

Indeed God's people are "strangers" in this world; they are estranged and live as "resident aliens" -- here, yet not here.... Those who 'settle' here, who lay claim to life in this world, therefore make God their stranger. Thus King David said to the LORD: "We are strangers with You (כִּי־גֵרִים אֲנַחְנוּ לְפָנֶיךָ) and sojourners like our fathers; our days on earth are like a shadow (כַּצֵּל יָמֵינוּ) without abiding (1 Chron. 29:15). Faith in Yeshua affirms that underlying the surface appearance of life is a deeper reality that is ultimately real and abiding. It "sees what is invisible" (2 Cor. 4:18) and understands (i.e., accepts) that the "present form of this world is passing away" (1 Cor. 7:31). The mode of faith therefore calls us to live as toshavim - sojourners - who are at an infinite "distance" from the world of appearances and who seek the Eternal. We are “just passing through” this world, as we look forward to our promised home in heaven (Heb. 11:9-10). Then the days of our mourning shall be turned to dancing and God himself shall wipe away all tears from our eyes (Rev. 7:17; Isa. 55:11).

A legend is gone. Multi-award-winning musician Zahara has left a huge mark on generations with her iconic voice. She belted out song after song and made a great impression on her fans all across Africa.

Singer Zahara passed away on Monday at the age of 36. As the news of her death spread around South Africa, fans remembered the afro-soul singer, who won 17 South African Music Awards, three Metro FM Awards, and one Nigeria Entertainment Awards. Zahara, whose real name is Bulelwa Mkutukana, was on the 2020 list of the BBC’s 100 Women. She appeared as a guest judge on the seventeenth season of Idols South Africa in 2021.

On Monday night, 36-year-old Zahara passed away at a private hospital in Johannesburg. Mpho Xaba, her fiancé, was at her bedside. The singer died shortly before 9 p.m. A source close to the muso told Sunday World.

Zahara was first brought to a medical ward, but as her health deteriorated, the private hospital moved her to the intensive care unit (ICU). The afro-soul singer’s condition worsened last week, and it was reported that she was unresponsive.

The popular singer-songwriter’s death was revealed yesterday, and since then, tributes have been pouring in nonstop. Notables from the music industry and fans of the artist now look back fondly on the singer’s life and career.

Fellow musician Lady Zamar posted a heartfelt message and paid tribute to the late musician on Twitter (X), writing: “Zahara did a lot for the music industry in South Africa… paved the way for so many others with her icon presence and guitar in hand. She will be missed. I never knew her personally, but her music was loud and brave. Ripzahara is praying for her family. She was love.”

Celebrities were not the only ones who paid tribute to Zahara; industry peers also poured in their condolences.

A lot of fans have since been paying tribute by sharing music videos from the late singer. They’ve been expressing how much Zahara has touched them through music. We have indeed lost a gem.
