His entire early childhood, it was just Percy and his mother-- she was a school teacher who had published a few poems, though they weren't widely known. It was her who instilled his love for the arts and poetry, specifically, with some of hist most fond memories being the nights when she read his favorite collection of poems before bed. Tragedy struck though, when Percy was ten or so, and his mother died in a freak accident leaving Percy orphaned.

He was sent to live with family members but nobody ever kept him for long, always insisting the boy was too difficult to raise or troublesome. Eventually, when every relative turned their backs on him... Percy was put in the foster system and this was a dark chapter in his life. He'd never be kept anywhere for long and it all came to a breaking point when his last guardian, Milton, nearly choked Percy to death. After that night, he packed the few things he still owned and left in the middle of the night.

On the run for weeks, he eventually found himself looking for scraps of food outside a circus when a few of the performers saw him and took pity. They brought him into the fold and welcomed him as part of their found family, he had to earn his keep but that wasn't difficult for a boy his age. It started with him cleaning up but he clearly had a way with people, connecting with them so he was given more things to do. He took to archery with ease, it was practically a reflex for the young boy... and then he found a gift for things like tarot card reading, palm readings, and reading people's fortunes.

The circus may not have been the most stable upbringing for a developing child, but they treated him well and he was never abused or went hungry. They never stayed anywhere for long, Percy found home in one of the caravans as they traveled across the countryside.

Years passed and he became one of the big names, The Great and Mystical Percy. He wasn't found by the city elders until he was well into his adulthood, around the age of twenty-five or so, that he discovered he was a demigod and they'd been looking for him since his mom first died all those years ago. Never staying anywhere for too long provided to be a bit of a challenge, but they told Percy how dangerous it was to stay with the circus... so he agreed to return to them and find a new start.

Awe struck by the city itself, Percy struggled to adapt to staying in one place for more than a week.. but he managed. He found a job working as well, a fortune teller once more. Even in a place as magical and mystical as New Olympia, there were still those who wanted their future to be told.
