Civil unrest caused by a group of ronins known as the Espada. Lord Kuchiki needed a discreet team to escort his sister to the capital unharmed and following the recommendation of an old 🐈‍⬛ friend, he hired a no-name samurai who has a certain resemblance he can't place, what's the worst that could happen?

Finally, after 17 months, Rukia was back.

She brought his powers back, got a new haircut and a shiny lieutenant badge. Ichigo could see the pride in her eyes. She had also brought back his will to live but she probably didn't know that.

Inoue and Riruka were still passed out. Renji said they were leaving soon. Apparently, they were taking Ginjo's body to the Soul Society. Ichigo should care more about that, but his mind was occupied by the shinigami before him. Rukia was typing away on her phone, brows knitted in concentration. She would chew on her bottom lip, stop, and start again, driving Ichigo insane.

He had been thinking and dreaming and yearning for those lips for so long. If he didn't do something now, she was going to leave again and who knows when he would see her again. It was now or never. He had to make a move or he would regret this forever.

"Ru..."

"Oi! We're ready to go. Let's move out Rukia," Renji poked his head into the room, gesturing to leave. Rukia nodded and got up, giving the girls one last look. She then turned to Ichigo.

"See you later, Ichigo."

No no no no this was all wrong! She was walking towards the door, and he was going to just let her leave?! This was not how he imagined this happening this was wrong he has to say something he can't let her just leave not again not again not AGAIN!

His hand reached for her wrist which he gripped a little too tightly. He tugged at her to turn her body to him, which caused her to stumble into his chest. Her eyes were wide in surprise whilst her free hand held onto his bicep for support.

"Ichigo what..."

His lips landed over her bottom lip, pressing desperately. His free hand held on the back of her head, fingers tangling into her short hair, tilting her face to him. The hand on his arm squeezed, but there was no push. He softened the hold on her wrist, then let go, preferring to hold her waist instead. Her now free hand slowly snaked up his neck, settling at his nape, sending shivers down his back. He opened his mouth to catch her top lip, his brain in overdrive over how soft and warm she was. The smallest whimper came from Rukia and it took everything in him to not go feral then and there. He opened his eyes and saw her looking back, her eyes low and hazy. He slowly broke the kiss, his forehead on hers. Her cheeks were so red and she was pouting. He wanted to bite her lip so badly.

"Rukia,"

She just shook her head and kissed him this time, her head now slanted, deepening their kiss. It was as if they had the same idea - I want to bite that lip - they kept exchanging nips and sucking each other's bottom lips until they were red and swollen. Ichigo's tongue tentatively swiped at Rukia's lips, asking for entrance. With a gasp, she opened her mouth and pressed her tongue achingly slow against his, undulating sensually. Ichigo's hands were trembling. Rukia could feel her legs about to give out. They both moaned softly into each other's mouths.

"Rukia, you ready? We're leaving," Renji knocked, causing them to jump away from each other. Rukia looked utterly ravished and Ichigo looked like he was going to go Bankai on Renji's ass. Taking a deep breath, Rukia cleared her throat and smoothed out her uniform, noticing her sash was a little loose.

"I'll see you later, right Ichigo?"

"Of course you will."

She gave him a smile, which he retuned, and then walked out to follow the rest of the shinigami. Ichigo took a steading breath, running both hands through his hair.

Riruka was sitting up in her bed with her arms crossed, annoyed. "Perverts."

She had let his hands and lips taint her. Ichigo Kurosaki had claimed her and he had no intentions of letting her forget it.

what do you have to say about when ichigo was fighting grimmjow and was getting beaten up but he won bc of orihime pleas and cries? im not saying ichiruki is bad bc it is true you could say they have more time together (and emotions, feelings) but i think you can't deny either that ichigo won against grimmjow bc of orihime that time

Uh, what? You mean when she was scared of him & little Nel had to give her a push to cheer him on? 😒

Meanwhile, Rukia was never scared of him, never doubted him, & would've given him an encouraging speech right before he even started 😌.

I considered not answering this ask cuz it just sounds so... dumb.

But, I guess I can entertain this a bit...

Yeah, Ori contributed so much that Ichigo forgot to thank her, but he did thank little Nel.

Also, notice how he gave Nel AND Ori the same look 🫢

He's given the same look to his sisters too. Meanwhile, the way he looked at Rukia was so vastly different... 😩 Check out this post for example.

The funniest part is that the reason Ichigo fought Grimmjow in HM (and one of his main motivations to even go there—Ori getting kidnapped was the excuse he needed) was because he had a personal vendetta against him for hurting Rukia. But, Ichigo was in denial & claimed he only came to save Inoue until Grimmjow called him out on it.

It's basically like:

I also think it's funny how he asked her to heal him before the fight. He didn't face her directly & basically came off as: "Just heal me already." 🤭

Ori simply did the bare minimum in cheering for a friend risking their life. Anyone else in her place doing the same would have given some encouragement to Ichigo (I remember being so annoyed at her for fearing him while he was fighting the enemy. When she finally snapped out of it, I was like, "About time." 🙄).

(Btw, there is an interesting interpretation of Ichigo's reaction to Ori's words here. What she said may not have been the words Ichigo needed nor wanted to hear...)

You might think after this, Ori would have finally started to develop; if Kub0 had wanted, IH could have started to get somewhere... but what happened later at the dome & then the Fullbring arc told us otherwise (what happened at the dome should've solidified for everyone that IH do NOT work together & bring out the WORST in each other 🤷‍♀️). Ori did not learn a single thing... she even got worse in TYBW...

There's an interesting IR post here about Ichigo's potential love language being Words of Affirmation. And Rukia was the perfect person to fill his little love tank; her words always meant so much to him 💞.

Also, canonically, Ichigo spent more time around Ori's vicinity than Rukia's, & yet they couldn't develop any special bond. Ichigo spent 17 months without Rukia, but him & Ori still. didn't. get. anywhere. Ori had no development from her experience in HM & was still pathetically simping over Ichigo while he was none the wiser (and couldn't care less) 🙄.

Anyway, even if Ori had contributed greatly to the Grimmjow fight, wasn't it nice of her to help Ichigo avenge another girl? 😊

Isn't it funny that by making Ichiruki non canon it became far stronger than before?

A ship becoming canon is a blessing but also a curse in the sense it's condemned to be quickly forgotten: it became "real", so there's not much left for the fandom to add to their story: it stops being interesting, and, creating fanworks for them, kinda pointless; after a couple of months it just becomes a nice memory and fans are ready to move on. A popular ship becoming non-canon though? the fandom alone will keep it alive for years on whether by hyperfixated love or simply out of spite; since it never became real, there's a sense of freedom to create possible outcomes for them which makes it extra inspiring and interesting for fanartist and writers, and the fans who consume their content will always be appreciative of anything that could add to the characters' story they were eager to see but never got to.
