Since you uploaded that MMJ Miku beta design, do you know if there are other beta designs of the characters?? I'm curious since there's a little bit of concept art of project sekai.
Ah well project sekai featured in this one issue of a Japanese magazine called CG WORLD which is where I got that art from. That magazine is more focused on the costume designs though but it does have some concept art, but aside from WIP costume designs using the final character designs, all of it is blurred out unfortunately.
You can find some WxS beta designs, a Shiho beta design and some low quality MMJ beta designs out there (not entirely sure how people found these, I think they were left in a beta release and got datamined), but that’s all the unblurred stuff you can find.
And there are no VBS beta designs available. There’s some WIP costumes for Akito, Kohane, Miku and MEIKO (i posted her one ages ago), but there’s no actual concept art of them available anywhere.
I can go through what we do have though because they’re probably too low quality for me to post as an actual fact.
So these three images were in the CG WORLD magazine. You can tell who the members of Leo/need are based on the instruments (L->R: Saki, Honami, Ichika, Shiho, Miku), and MORE MORE JUMP! (L->R: Miku, Haruka, Airi, Minori, Shizuku) isn’t too different from the final designs aside from Shizuku, who’s blonde (probably because Shiho is). Niigo is harder to identify outside of Kanade and Miku. This art was also uploaded on TCRF and whoever put it there said that Mizuki is the brunette, Mafuyu is the one sitting next to Kanade and Ena is the one in the purple cardigan. It's not stated who is who in the magazine.
And here’s some actual beta assets. You’ve got WxS and Miku (there's two people in the back) here. Emu didn’t really change much aside from the eyes, but other than her...? (I edited this since it was posted don't mind the change)
We have the leader, who is literally just a palette swap of Rui's initial 2* with Tsukasa's face (excl the eye color which was given to Rui) and hairstyle. Possibly Tsukasa bc leader, possibly Rui bc design, possibly a scrapped character who was split in two
There's someone in the back behind leader boy and blonde girl wearing a pink-purple shirt and white jacket with a yellow tie. Clearly their color palette was used on Rui later down the line. Other than that there's nothing we can tell about this character, not even their gender. Possibly Rui, possibly Miku, possibly a third character who was scrapped/reworked
We have blonde girl, who's hair color and eyes seem to have been reused for final Tsukasa. Usually this is assumed to be Nene due to not resembling any finalised designs for the most part. I think she was probably scrapped, or heavily reworked and became Nene with some design elements passed onto Tsukasa (or Tsukasa was a girl?)
And in the back behind Emu is a girl in a green blazer and grey skirt that looks like a school uniform. Maybe this is Miku because the costume doesn't really match with the others? She doesn't have pigtails though, but no one here has pigtails. There's literally nothing identifiable about her.
Whoever these people are there were clearly a lot of changes made to WxS and these might not even be Nene/Rui/Tsukasa. That's definitely Emu though.
And here's a gacha bg and live bg demo for MMJ. The screen on the first image seems to be displaying a less-blurred version of their concept art. For the record, the illustrations in the second screenshot are from idolm@ster, they are not MMJ concept designs, but part of Shizuku can be seen to the right of the pink haired girl.
Possibly might've been named RE:START given the neon lights in the second image. Has some backing: their first event was called RE:START from Here!, and NaytalieN said in an interview that there was extremely little development on MMJ outside of character illustrations when he was commissioned for that event (and a couple statements imply the game was still in fairly early development too). Or it might've just been a catchphrase for the group or something.
And this. High quality beta-Shiho. This was used as a placeholder card art (surprisingly finished for a placeholder) for MMJ!Miku’s initial card, which by the way, looks exactly the same as the final version only it hasn't been finished yet. I’m pretty sure this is Shiho and not Shizuku because of the side ponytail and image color. But Miku is wearing a similar costume to the one in the MMJ concept art. I mean it was marked as placeholder and was not intended for use, it doesn’t really have to make sense. Also what seems to be a costume for Miku based on this card was left in the game and is on TCRF I added the screenshot below.
I haven't finished translating the CG WORLD article yet, but there's not a huge amount dedicated to character design, as I said earlier it's mainly about costumes. What I can tell you though is that VBS and WxS apparently took longest to finalise, specifically Akito and Tsukasa.
TCRF page for anyone interested
#asks#i read on twitter that when Yukkii was cast as Shiho she apparently wasn't even shown a character design because there wasn't a finished on#though i don't have anything to back this up it was just a random tweet i saw

Singing Among the Cherry Blossoms Event Story Summary
TL;DR: While practicing singing, Nene wonders if confidence is currently the thing holding Ichika's signing back. Miku suggests that she does street performances to practice in front of others. She struggles to get her voice out the first time.
On the way back, Ichika runs into Kohane performing Miku songs solo. She admires Kohane's confidence and skill, being so new to music. Ichika wants to sing like that for Shiho's dream of resonating with others and going pro, but feels she'll never get there. Kohane reassures her that she felt the same, but her teammates believing in her helped her get over that fear.
Ichika continues to practice street performances, slowly getting better and better. Her bandmates notice a significant improvement in her skill.
After a particularly successful session, Ichika goes to watch the cherry blossoms and reminisce about her friends. She decides to grab Miku from SEKAI to sing a song of thanks after all she's done to reconnect them.
Minori and Kohane end up running into Ichika singing in the park, so they ask to join. The three girls become friends. Kanade, who had just run into Tsukasa briefly, also overhears the group singing.
Fan translation (ちぜChize) / Official English YouTube Upload
Chapter 1: Ichika and Nene meet in the park to practice singing. Nene wonders if confidence is what is currently holding Ichika back. It had held Nene back before, but by remembering why she loves to sing, she was able to regain it. She doesn't want Ichika to dwell on that, though.
During rehersal, Leo/need praises the improvement in Ichika's voice. However, Ichika still feels like she has a long way to go before she can truly touch others with her music, like Shiho wants to.
Chapter 2: Ichika asks Miku for advice on confidence. Miku suggests trying to sing in public with street performances. The next day, Ichika goes by herself to play on Main Street. She can't manage to get her voice out. Nobody stops to listen, so she leaves.
Chapter 3: On the way home, Ichika runs into Kohane performing a Miku song by herself on the street. Once the song is over, Ichika goes to speak with her. She's surprised to learn Kohane is so new in music. Kohane tells her about her group's dream to surpass a legendary show. Kohane asks if Ichika wants to go pro with her band, but Ichika doubts she'd ever be that good. Still, she wants to help Shiho's dream come true. She's too nervous to sing properly in public, however. Kohane reassures her that she'd felt the same at first, but because her teammates believed in her, she was able to overcome it.
Chapter 4: Ichika goes to the street to try again. She manages to get her voice out, but when people start listening, she can't stop shaking. Still, she manages to reach the end of the song. The listeners enjoyed it.
Leo/need immediately notice the change in Ichika's singing. Miku and her decide to keep the street shows their little secret. Shiho thinks Ichika might be ready to go on stage.
Chapter 5: Ichika continues to perform on the streets, slowly gaining more confidence and crowds. Some even ask for encores.
On the way back, Ichika stops in the park to watch the cherry blossoms and reminisce on old memories. She's happy Miku's music managed to bring the four of them back together.
Chapter 6: Luka and MEIKO go praise Miku for being such a good senpai to Ichika recently. Miku's surprised yet honored, since she believes MEIKO and Luka to be far better mentors. They tell her that there's no true perfect mentor, and that everyone can help others in their own ways. MEIKO and Luka leave once Ichika arrives in SEKAI. There, she thanks Miku for all the help and asks if she'd come to the real world to listen to a song.
Chapter 7: Ichika shows Miku the cherry blossom trees. She thanks Miku for all the help she's given the band and plays a Miku song for her. While listening, Miku reminisces on the growth of Leo/need since they first arrived in SEKAI.
Chapter 8: Kohane and Minori end up running into Ichika, so Miku hides. They ask if they can sing with Ichika.
Kanade, who was returning from the hospital, gets run into by Tsukasa sprinting through the streets after nearly missing a meeting. She found the encounter strange. She also overhears the three girls singing Miku songs in the park, pleased by the tune.
Minori and Kohane ask Ichika to call them by their first names. Ichika asks the same. They decide to keep singing Miku songs together. Ichika briefly notices Kanade watching. Minori and Kohane leave soon after. Ichika thanks Miku for helping her make even more friends.

Now that all of the new unit designs have been revealed, I want to go through and give my thoughts!!
(Small note: I took several days to finally sit down and give my thoughts, and as I was writing several things were revealed, so if you see colored text it's because new information was revealed while I was writing and didn't want to edit what I'd already written)
This post does get long, so if that's not your thing, then feel free to scroll past!
Overall, I really like Leo/Need's new look! It feels more professional and cohesive but still keeps some of the individual charm the original designs had.
School Miku's original design is one I'm especially going to miss. I think if they kept the skirt the same, I wouldn't mind as much, since then you still have some of the same pop as the initial design. I do like the 39 patch on the sweater - it's a cute detail.
Ichika's original design is one I wasn't too much of a fan of. I don't really know how to explain it other than she stands out just a bit too much? Strangely enough, this new design has the exact opposite problem - Ichika blends in a bit too well now. I do think part of that is just from a portion of the outfit being obscured by the guitar, though.
Speaking of obscuring a portion of your outfit with an instrument, Saki now has the full fit on display! Her new outfit is pretty similar, though I do think the bow tie is cuter and suits her better. I will miss the cropped jacket, but I don't think that length would have worked as well with the new blazer. The double belt is also another neat detail.
Shiho is next, and I really don't have much to say about her. Similar to Saki, I think the tie switch was a good choice, but there really isn't much more to mention.
Moving on to Honami, I wish there were more elements of her original design present here. I understand why they aren't - they just don't fit as cohesively - but the puff sleeves and half-buttoned jacket thing were cute. It also just doesn't seem very practical to have the drummer wear full sleeves on a blazer? Like, yeah a lot of motion is just in the wrist, but there is some shoulder movement that would make the jacket bunch up and overall would just be uncomfortable... or so I'd think. I played flute, so what do I know.
I know the general consensus with More More Jump is that people don't like the blue, but I don't mind it thaat much. I do wish the individual members' colors were more apparent- you can still see them, especially with Minori's, but I wish they used the accents in more places. Overall very cute, though.
I also just wasn't a fan of MMJ's original designs anyway, so these are definitely a step up
Stage Miku's new outfit is beautiful, and I love the little homages to Miku's different voicebank outfits- it honestly reminds me mostly of her V3 design, but I can see elements of the NT design in there as well. The little hair braids are adorable as well. My biggest worry is whether or not the other Stage Singers will get a new design, as only changing Miku (and Rin?) (UPDATE: Yes Rin too) would lose the cohesion they had in that Sekai.
Minori's outfit is one I have mixed feelings about. I don't think it's bad - I quite like the look of it - but I can't help but feel like something is... missing? I guess? (It does look better in the 3DMVs, so who knows what this might have been)
Haruka looks lovely in this new outfit, though oddly enough, she is the main reason I wish that the secondary color of the outfits weren't blue; her color is lost. You can still see it in the plaid, but you really have to zoom in. The layers on the skirt are very pretty, though, so I don't mind too much.
Airi's outfit is my favorite, I think? I know the skirt is for certain - the train is a very nice touch, though I can't quite tell if it's asymmetrical or not (UPDATE: seeing the new 3DMVs confirmed it is asymmetrical). The underskirt is also really pretty, and I genuinely think the pink matches the blue more than Haruka's blue does.
I don't really have much to say about Shizuku's new outfit. It's quite beautiful, though she experiences a similar problem to Haruka. It's a bit easier to see her greenish-blue in the plaid, but you do have to look for it.
I adore Vivid Bad Squad's new designs oh my goodness. The initial designs were good, but I really like how these new designs (mostly) show another side to street wear- yes, the group had a similar style with the previous iteration, but VBS is a group where I feel the lack of cohesion fits them best.
Street Miku is probably the redesign I dislike the most, but most of it just how same-y the colors are. The trenchcoat looks really nice, and I do really like the pieces of the outfit, but I wish there was a bit more variation with the colors... that said, I do think I'll grow to like it. (UPDATE:
Kohane's new design is absolutely stunning. Her initial design was really cute, but when you look at this new one, you can just see the confidence she's gained. A lot of the design aspects are the same - mainly in terms of the top and skirt - but whereas these are hidden under the big jacket in the initial design, they're on full display with the new one. It reminds me of what happens when someone starts to dabble in a new style, growing more confident in how you feel with the style and how it looks.
As I'm sure several people have mentioned, An's design is reminiscent of Nagi. It's not exact, of course, but the inspiration is still very apparent. This design is also really interesting to me because of its similarly to her initial; the colors are used in the same way, something that really isn't seen in any of the other new designs. The shoes are different, though.
Akito is still wearing a jacket over a sweatshirt... for some reason. Moving on.
Toya is another character whose gained confidence you can see in this new design. Unlike Kohane's new outfit, Toya's is very different from his initial design. The only similarities I could really see are the wear on the knees and the overall color scheme (UPDATE: the 3DMV revealed there was still text on the back of the outer jacket, but my point still stands). It's not a bad thing that the two are so different, though. In fact, I think it's a really neat way of showing character growth - the two designs are different because Toya is finally letting himself be without fitting any one else's definition of what he should be.
Let it be known that I was terrified for WxS's new designs. Luckily, there was no need to worry, but the worry was there all the same. I quite liked how the original designs looked, since they fit the setting fairly well, but they were very disjointed and (to me) felt less like a troupe and more like one of those shows when costuming is based on what you have in your closet. In comparison, these designs feel more coherent and ask if the costume shop made them... if that makes any sense.
Wonderland Miku looks adorable. Her initial design wasn't my favorite, especially with the cowl and overabundance of baubles, but this one has a wonderful balance between whimsy and cute. Very interesting that the ears changes color, though... wonder what that means.
I've had to write my thoughts on Tsukasa three times because Tumblr refused to save it, but basically: looks nice. I like the addition of more contrast. I'm not typing this again.
Emu's new outfit looks nice as well! I like how they chose to keep the shapes, such as the skirt and sleeves, while adding more details that the other members share. The contrast of round and angular is also nice, and the colors aren't too bright. Very nice.
Nene's design also keeps the overall shapes, but there's a lot of new elements to it as well. Keeping the buttons and expanding upon the butterfly motif is very cute.
What we can see of Rui's design looks nice, which makes me a little scared of what the front may look like knowing the initial design (UPDATE: the front view isn't awful, but my brain randomly decided it looked like Dimentio and now I can't look at it the same way). The asymmetry is nice, and I like the diamond/rhombus motif throughout. I know the motif was in the initial design, but it's more subtle here.
And here we have the group I started with and grew to love, whose video I watched while in class... fun fact, the video also dropped on my birthday, so that was a fun little gift~
Now, my opinions on N25's original designs are overall mixed; I like the overall look, but I wasn't the biggest fan of how Kanade just had an oversized sweatshirt. Yes, it fit her, but it didn't really fit the aesthetic the others had, if that makes any sense. Oddly enough, I have the opposite problem now.
Empty Miku is probably who I have the least to say about. I liked the initial design, but I don't think it really fits the group anymore - and I'm not just saying that because everyone else has new designs. Her initial design is fairly simple when you look at it, and so of course she grows to have more detail as the group grows to accept themselves and their true feelings: the Sekai was empty, Miku's design was simple, but that's not the case anymore.
Like I alluded to before, I wasn't a fan of Kanade's initial design. I liked the idea, but placing her beside the other members of the group just made her stand out too much. It really was just the colors, if I'm being honest, since the rest of the group wore these dark uniforms while Kanade had her bright sweatshirt. With this design, the sweatshirt (jacket?? There is a zipper this time...) aspect doesn't stand out as much, though oddly enough, I kind of wish they leaned into it more.
I do like how Mafuyu is the one with the gradient now, though. I can't really say more since the profile view doesn't offer much? (UPDATE: after seeing more of the outfit I still can't really say much. The off center bow is a neat detail, as well as how the over skirt adds a nice asymmetry. It's a welcome change from the symmetrical uniform she wore initially).
Ena's initial design was one I really liked, though I didn't really realize it until now. It's simple in concept, but there's some neat detail that I wish was kept. I get that the new idea is to have them wearing something more casual, but I feel like they could have incorporated more elements of the initial design in Ena's new one.
I'm honestly not sure how I feel about Mizuki's new outfit. I miss the color their initial design had, but at the same time I understand the direction the unit is going in. I did like how personalized their initial design looked; it was unique, but still fit the themeing the rest (sans Kanade) has. The new design does scream "Mizuki" with its fashion, but I can't tell if this new design has to little or if their initial had too much; the new design looks like the rest of what Mizuki wore, while the initial really didn't share a lot of aspects with the rest of their wardrobe. That said, I can't wait to put the Hermit hairstyle on this new outfit because I have a problem.
I do want to try and find what flowers everyone has on their outfits because I'm weird like that and overanalyze the use of flowers in media, but I'll leave that for another day.

Random Relationship Headcannons! - Leo/Need
A Pink Original!
Hello! This is my first post on this Blog! I plan on slowly making one of these for each Project Sekai group. Some might be short but I hope you enjoy them all the same! :) - Pink! ♡
Ichika Hoshino
🎸• Ichika’s the type to be shy in a relationship at first, but open up more over time.
🎸 • She’d let you sit and watch Leo/Need practice. If you give her any compliments on her playing, she’ll be bashful about it and thank you. Your kind words help motivate her to play as well as she can!
🎸 • Her favourite way to spend time with you would be relaxing together and listening to Miku songs. She would make two shared playlists for when the two of you hang out, one for everyday and one for winding down together after a long day!
🎸 • If you ask her to play a Miku song on her guitar, she’ll gladly play for you! You could ask her for any song, there’s a high chance she’s know it already, but if she doesn’t she’ll happily learn it and show you the next time you’re together!
🎸 • She loves looking after her cactus, so if you get her another as a gift, she’ll be ecstatic! She would place them next to eachother in the perfect place for them to grow. She looks after them like they’re her children!
🎸 • Overall, Ichika may be a little shy in a relationship, but it’s easy to tell she loves and appreciates you! :)
Saki Tenma
🎹 • Saki loves you so much and isn’t afraid to show it!
🎹 • Loves physical affection, she would hug you all day if she could! She often throws herself at you to give you hug attacks!!
🎹 • She can be quite overbearing and excitable, but she can also be one of the most chill people ever. She’ll go from loud and hyper during the day to calm and relaxed when spending time with you in the evenings :)
🎹 • She loves taking you out on little dates to cafes, parks and shops! Sometimes she’ll take you out so that you can complete one of the tasks on her bucket list that she made while she was in hospital :)
🎹 • Since she likes hairstyling, she’ll invite you over to attempt looks she’s seen in magazines on your hair! It doesn’t matter if your hair’s long or short, she’ll find a style that looks perfect on you!
🎹 • Saki knows she loves you, and makes sure you and everyone around you knows it! She’s not shy about showing off her feelings.
Honami Mochizuki
🥁• Honami has a few insecurities about being in a relationship, but a little bit of love and experience shows her there’s nothing to worry about!
🥁• She would love going on walks with you! If it’s taking Shibao on a walk in the park together, or just a relaxing walk spent chatting with you, she’d love it either way! Beaches are one of her favourite places to walk with you :)
🥁• She’d love making food for you! She’ll bring snacks and treats she’s made for you to your dates together! She also likes cooking with you, making sweet treats with you quickly becomes one of her favourite type of dates!
🥁• Honami would love going out to see the stars with you. On late weekend nights, you would go out together to see if you can spot any constellations. She knows all their names, so she’ll point them all out to you!
🥁• You’d have to be well in to your relationship with Honami before she would show you her art, but when she eventually builds up the courage to flip through her sketchbook with you she’d be pretty happy if you gave her a hand with drawing! She doesn’t mind if you’re good or not, she’ll take any help she can get!
🥁• Despite her anxieties, Honami would try her very best in a relationship with you! She may be insecure and embarrassed at times, but she appreciates everything you do for her and she loves you very much!
Shiho Hinomori
🍜• Shiho is definitely a tsundere. It’ll take a while for her to properly open up in a relationship.
🍜• Like Ichika, Shiho would take you to Leo/need practices with her. She doesn’t mind the compliments you give her, but much prefers when you criticise her playing. It helps her get better! She’ll let you have a go at playing her bass every now and then and she’ll try her best at teaching you how to play. Even though she doesn’t show it much, she’s so proud when you manage to play what she’s been teaching you correctly!
🍜• She doesn’t seem like a physical touch person, but the longer you’re in a relationship together, the more you realise she’s just shy about it. PDA definitely isn’t her thing, but she doesn’t mind cuddling up in private from time to time. ( even if she does go red as a tomato from as little as holding her hand! )
🍜• She’ll take you out to ramen places every now and then. It’s nice, even though most of the time is spent with her analysing the ramen!
🍜• If you were ever in a boring class together, Shiho would offer you an earbud so you two could listen to music together! She has the perfect playlist prepared full of songs that are great for listening to during classes you’d rather not be in!
🍜• Shiho may not be the most affectionate in a relationship, but she shows her affection in other ways. To her, actions speak louder than words. you can see how much she loves you through everything she does for you!
Pink’s extra notes♡ - I had to study hard to make this lol, I don’t know too much about Leo/Need, so I watched the Journey To Bloom digest story and all of the Leo need self intros so that this was at least a bit accurate! Beelz helped out a lot with Shiho and Honami’s parts when I ran out of ideas lol. I hope everyone reading enjoyed! :))

Okay I finished Leo/Need. Final thoughts below the break.
Stuff I liked:
It feels very realistic.
I mean not the part about hatsune miku taking you to a pocket dimension created by your feelings, but like. I remember being a lonely teenage girl and, in many ways, Leo/Need captures that experience very well. The conflicts, the characterizations, and (with a few exceptions) the dialogue all feel very familiar.
The end wraps things up nicely.
There are some Project SEKAI stories (cough VIVID Bad cough) where the end feels a little rushed or anticlimactic, like the writers were fighting against that 20 episode format.
Leo/Need, on the other hand, felt very satisfying to finish. The band is back together, Honami has come clean to her other friends, Ichika told the others she and Saki have written their first song. They’ve tied up the loose threads while still leaving a lot to be explored in event and side stories. It’s very “the end of this chapter, the beginning of the journey,” vibes.
Saki’s fucking fantastic.
I love, love, love Saki. Her design, her characterization, her motivation is everything to me. The other characters I needed a bit to warm up to, but they do a very good job of making Saki bubbly, energetic, and endearing from beginning to end. She was, hands down, my favorite thing about this story.
Stuff I did not love:
It feels very realistic.
“But Walmart, you said you liked the realism! Why would it be a pro AND a con?” Well gimme a fuckin second here, let me explain.
Leo/Need is very true to the depressed teenager experience. There is miscommunication, there is weird, illogical snap decisions, there’s jumping to conclusions. It’s true to life—but that doesn’t mean it’s interesting.
For many of us, myself included, being a teenager was/is frustrating. It’s confusing, and lonely, and honestly, very annoying. It was annoying to live through and as much as I hate to say it, it was annoying to read.
There is no conflict.
The opening of Leo/Need sets you up to think these characters have had some huge fight. It’s heavily implied that Ichika in particular said something to piss Honamori and Shiho off. This would explain why she’s so hesitant to tell Saki what happened, because she doesn’t want her friend to see her as the villain.
The problem is, nothing happened.
There was no fight. There was no huge, explosive event. There was just three teenagers miss-communicating. This is supposed to be a twist, but it reads like a cop-out. It’s boring.
Again, this isn’t unrealistic—I’ve seen friendships fall apart over miscommunications and good intentions like this, especially when I was younger. It happens in real life all the time.
It’s realistic. But that doesn’t mean it’s compelling storytelling.
Saki’s fucking fantastic.
“Wait, you already did this one too, why did you put two things in both pro and con—“ shut up, it’s my list.
Saki’s great. She’s interesting, she’s multi-faceted, she has an in depth backstory.
Her returning to school is the catalyst for the entire story. I’m nearly every episode, her actions are what drive the narrative forward.
So why isn’t she the main character?
Reading from Ichika’s POV gives us a lot of flashbacks from when Saki was gone, but since the conflict is basically nonexistent, these flashbacks are arguably unnecessary.
Imagine this story reframed from Saki’s POV. Imagine hearing her inner monologue when Honamori and Shiho brush her off when she gets to school. Imagine her practicing that song to impress Shiho, knowing she’s pushing herself too hard, but thinking getting her friends back together is more important.
Imagine getting this sinking feeling in your gut knowing she’s going to push herself too far, knowing somethings going to happen. Then imagine that scene where she collapses from fever while they’re playing hitting that much harder, because you’d been dreading that moment happening.
Cool, did you imagine it? Did it make you feel stuff? Did it feel compelling and heartbreaking?
Cool, so I ask you again, why didn’t we get that?
Final thoughts:
Overall, I enjoyed this story. Really, I did.
Is it my favorite PJSK main story? No. Do I have a lot of criticisms of it? Yes.
But I like it. I like Saki, especially. And I think with the way the last few episodes wrapped up, I’ll enjoy the event stories a lot.
So yeah. If Leo/Need is your favorite, I definitely see the appeal, no disrespect at all. I didn’t come here to start shit, just sharing my thoughts.

So this HC is gonna be a sort of continuation of some of my previous posts and is going to be my attempt at getting all of the groups into one place. But what if Ken hosts a Hatsune Miku celebration day at his cafe? Part 1 of the answer here we go.
Some things that are just gonna be already established at the start of this: 1) Ken knows about the Street Sekai (and I guess the concept that other ppl could have Sekais based on the Vocaloids’ description of Sekais to him which VBS might not have even thought about). 2) He knows who Hatsune Miku and the other Vocaloids are & has maybe done some research about their real life counterparts. 3) He has some knowledge of VBS’s friends/family (like that Akito has an older sister who hates their dad, An’s friend Haruka, Toya has shown Tsukasa/Saki the cafe, etc.).
Anyways, I guess maybe the anniversary for when Hatsune Miku was released or some other special day for Miku is coming up and after meeting the Street Sekai version of Miku, Ken asks the VBS gang if they’d be alright with helping him make like a special event at his cafe in honor of Miku. As I guess a way of honoring her/thanking her as well as letting people show their appreciation for her since he knows Miku and her gang in the Sekai have helped his kids out a lot. So after some discussion, they agree to help out since all of VBS feel grateful for Miku and how her and the other Vocaloids have helped them. Ken tells them to tell their friends/family to come over too. Ken probably knows that this specific event isn’t probably gonna appeal to his normal crowd and his regulars so might as well spread the news about this event. So this is how we attract the other groups. Each of them all love their Sekais and respective Vocaloids so an event celebrating Miku would be nice.
Kohane would definitely want to give thanks to Miku so she tells her friends at Miya about it. Minori would definitely think it sounds fun and after double checking with Kohane, she decides to invite the rest of MMJ to come as well. They may have to move their schedules around, but I think they’d all want to show their thanks to Miku and end up going. Besides Haruka has been to Weekend Garage before and knows that Ken would be cool with more people coming. Shiho would probably take some convincing, but I think after she mentions it to Ichika, Ichika would definitely want to go. Ichika would then try to bring the rest of Leo/need to go, though I doubt it’d be that hard to convince them. I feel like Kohane would also let it slip to Shiho that the guy who owns the cafe hosting the event is actually a famous musician back in the day and that would help convince Shiho to go. Though Shiho was probably already planning on going bc she does want to show some thanks towards Miku, but she was being tsundere about it. So she uses the excuse of wanting to also meet Ken to go.
Toya probably tells Tsukasa about it, even if Toya isn’t sure if Tsukasa even listens to Vocaloid. Tsukasa probably thinks about it for a little bit and decides to go as well since he does appreciate Miku and the other Vocaloids. Besides, I think Kohane would also mention the event to Emu and Emu would text all of WxS that they should go. Rui and Nene are probably fine with it too. Akito probably tried to tease Tsukasa about it a little but Tsukasa ultimately decides to go.
So the thing with 25ji is that I feel like multiple ppl would have to mention it and work together to get them to go. An probably told Mizuki about it and Mizuki probably tells the rest of 25ji. Maybe Honami or Ichika mentions it to Kanade and Kanade decides to go since it sounds like some other artists may show up. Ena might decide to go after hearing about it from Mizuki and possibly Airi. The hard part is Mafuyu. Mafuyu probably wouldn’t be allowed to go if her parents heard about it, but I think if Shizuku told Mafuyu and Mafuyu told her the reason why, Shizuku might help make a convincing alibi for Mafuyu’s parents. Besides, I think Mafuyu would actually want to kinda go since she does care about Miku.
So yeah the big day arrives, and a decent amount of people show up. Some of Ken’s regulars pop by to see how it’s going but they don’t stick around for long. All of the groups show up and it surprises each of them that they recognize some of the other people at the cafe.
All the groups basically converge and end up talking all day. (I might make a later post to talk about some of those interactions, but there’s something else I want to show). Time flies and eventually it’s pretty much closing time. All of the groups are still there but everyone else has left. Someone from one of the groups ask Ken why he decided to make the event in the first place. At first it sounds like Ken just likes Hatsune Miku and Vocaloids, but then he slips and says something like “she seems like a nice gal and her and her friends would probably thank all of their fans personally if they weren’t stuck in the sekai”. And then everyone freezes.
Bc suddenly they’re all panicking and are like holy shit someone knows about the sekai. VBS are trying to do damage control, but it’s already too late. People are yelling/screaming like “DO YOU HAVE A SEKAI?” And people just being like YEAH BUT YOU DO TOO?.
After awhile they all calm down, but when they start talking about their Sekais, they begin to realize that the descriptions of the Vocaloids and the Sekais don’t match. The way they get there is still the same (with the Untitled song), but the personalities and settings are different. So ofc being the teenagers they are, one of them presses their Untitled and everyone gets sucked into the Sekai. Including Ken.
Anyways I’m gonna end Part 1 here. My brain power is low right now and I think I need to rewatch some stuff before moving on. If ppl are interested, I’ll do a Part 2 where we do a Sekai tour with the groups ... and Ken. Bc we need some form of a responsible adult I guess.

Stick to your faith Event Story Summary
TL;DR: Shindou asks Leo/need about their individual goals as artists to help better craft an image for their band. While Saki and Ichika are able to give an immediate answer, Shiho and Honami struggle with theirs. Shindou asks them not to worry and gives them time to think about it.
That night, Shiho continues to ponder the question. She goes to watch a new video from her favorite band when Rin pops in to check in. She asks Shiho more about the band and why she started playing bass in the first place.
Shiho remembers back to her elementary school days. In class, she'd struggled with a challenging handwriting assignment. She wanted to do the best she could on it, going so far as to skip a friend's birthday party to finish it. Though she managed to get something satisfactory by the end, she felt bad about making her friends sad.
Later that week, Shiho's father takes her to a livehouse to meet one of the bands he looks after, Iolite. There, Shiho meets Sumire, the bassist. She teaches Shiho a little about how to play bass, which Shiho instantly falls in love with. However, Shiho's hesitant to continue, fearing her intense focus would lead her to drive others away again. Sumire tells Shiho about her own similar fears. Still, Sumire knows music is the one thing she'll never compromise on. She believes that people truly shine when they stick to the things they love.
After the performance, Shiho tells Sumire and her father about how incredible the performance was. She decides to continue learning bass from Sumire to one day be just like her, performing songs that resonate with others and and inspire them to follow their own passions.
Rin helps Shiho realize that's exactly what she should tell Shindou. Some time after, Shiho tells the rest of her band (and the Virtual Singers) her revelation. They're all proud of Shiho and support her. Honami is still looking for her own answer and asks for a bit more time.
Fan translation (Kimane) / Song (purpose) 2DMV / 3DMV
Chapter 1: Leo/need all go to meet with Shindou about their debut. He shows them statistics over past debuts before asking what sort of music their band is aiming for. He gives them the example of an artist who values fan community and often sings Miku songs on livestream and a high school battle of the band winner who want to prove their skill. Shiho tells him their goal is to resonate with others through music, to which Shindou prompts for more. He asks to hear each of their individual dreams, too.
Saki talks about how she wants to cheer others up and Ichika about her goal of connection. Shiho and Honami aren't sure about their own goals yet. Shindou understands and tells them to take their time. He hands them some tasks to do before their debut in addition to this.
Chapter 2: The four head to SEKAI to tell the Virtual Singers about their meeting. Though Shiho and Honami are upset about not having their answer, the others reassure them and offer their help.
Shiho continues to think about her answer back home. She understands Ichika's feelings, but doesn't think that's her true feelings, too. Shiho thinks back on the resonating performances that drove her to play the bass herself, but doesn't think there's any meaning past that goal. Rin pops in to check on Shiho, since she'd noticed her feeling down back in SEKAI. Noticing Shiho had been watching the new release of her old favorite band, Rin asks to hear more about Shiho's past.
Chapter 3: A young Shiho tries out the challenge calligraphy ("響", reverberate) from a teacher. Though the teacher thinks her attempt is great, she's not satisfied with her result. Shiho asks for more time to work on the assignment, which she's granted.
Still, by the time of the new deadline, she's still not satisfied. Shiho hears some classmates talking about a birthday party that night, but she ends up backing out to finish her assignment. Later, while working after school, Shiho overhears some students talking about how she'd backed out of her promise to go. They're sad she won't join them, but understands she's working hard.
Chapter 4: Shiho doubts her decision to stay back as she walks home. She ends up running into her father, who was on his way to a live. He notices she looks sad and prompts her to talk about it. Shiho explains that she's sad she'd hurt them, but knows she wouldn't be satisfied with a half-completed assignment. Her father tells her to be proud of what she's managed to accomplish with her resolve, but understands her feelings. He invites Shiho to go listen to a band with him soon.
The day of the live comes. Shiho's father takes her backstage to meet the girl band performing that day, Iolite. The band absolutely adores her. The bassist, Kumo Sumire, approaches tells the others to stop doting on her.
Chapter 5: Sumire decides to chat with Shiho while the others do equipment checks. She was curious to meet the daughter of the musician she admires and that "little girl who loves lives". Shiho asks about why she plays bass, to which Sumire explains the supporting role and reverberating sound. She asks if Shiho wants to try playing her bass.
Sumire teaches Shiho how to properly play the bass. Shiho loves the way the proper sound echoes through her body. Shes a bit embarrassed by the compliments, but asks to learn more about the proper way to play it.
Sumire teacher her a basic phrase, to which Shiho gives her full focus. She thought it was really fun. Sumire asks if Shiho wants to play bass now. Shiho is reminded of how that same drive she felt when playing the bass, when working on the assignment, led her to ignore everyone around her. Out of fear of that continuing, Shiho declines the offer. Sumire questions if this is really what Shiho wants.
Chapter 6: Shiho explains how her tendency to focus on the things she loves to the point of drowning everything else out leads her to hurting other people. Sumire understands Shiho's struggle. She herself had become so engrossed in music that she'd ignored her former love of flower arrangement, a family tradition. She knows it made her mother sad, even though she'd understood why. Sumire continued with music, though, because she knew music was the thing that she'd never compromise on. When people stick to their faiths, they shine.
Chapter 7: Some time later, the live begins. The performance resonates within Shiho in a way she's never felt before. Shiho sees Sumire smile at her before starting a bass solo. Shiho's never felt so excited before and realizes the truth to Sumire's words- it's because she never lost her feelings that her band was able to put on this performance.
After the live, Shiho's father asks how she liked it. Shiho thought it was really cool. Sumire comes over to ask Shiho about the live, too. Shiho decides she wants to be just like Sumire, sticking to her own faith. Sumire offers to keep teaching Shiho how to play bass, to which she accepts.
Chapter 8: Back in the present, Rin tells Shiho that what she just told her has to be what Shiho is aiming for in her music. Some time later, Leo/need arrives in SEKAI at Shiho's request. She tells the others about her revelation: that she wants to give people strength to follow their feelings with her resonant sound.
The others agree with Shiho's dream. Honami, still, struggles to find her own answer. She asks if the others would wait just a bit longer. Saki asks to hear the story about Shiho's past, too. Shiho agrees, but only after they'd finished rehersal. Shiho then reflects on what she's learned recently, strengthening her resolve.
Meanwhile, Shindou thinks over what's next for Leo/need to do. He thinks he knows exactly who should be the leader of the band.
