sotf surveys - Naruto: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow

Yo, welcome to a series about my reactions to the Naruto movies and OVAs. Today we will be reviewing Naruto: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow (legit thought about doing this right after I finished the movie while having dinner lol)

I had previously watched Naruto Movie 1 when I was younger so this was more of a refresher to me. I remember a few major details but the rest were cloudy so I had a few surprises which was exciting, this is the benefit of rewatching something you've seen ages ago and become encapsulated with it all over again. Let's get into it:

OH MAN, you can definitely tell this was movie quality animation. I did not notice how well it was animated when I was younger, they really used up the budget well. Animated shows like to cut corners when it comes to animating to save both time and money which can make the animation feel stale. BUT THIS OUGH, you can see the overshoots and the anticipation in the characters' movements which adds more to their personality, specifically Naruto and Sakura who are outwardly expressive.

SPEAKING OF EXPRESSIONS

FINALLY I KNOW THE CONTEXT OF THIS IMAGE, I've seen it around before but wasn't sure where it was from.

An example of animation that display's Sakura's personality is in a scene 11 minutes into the movie where Team 7 (minus Naruto) gets a debrief on their mission with the film team.

Just for those 7 seconds we see how interested and excited Sakura is being in a movie studio. If it were set on the show I feel like she would only look over her shoulder and that would be it. In movie form we get a bit extra, not just looking over her should but she's innocently rocking back and forth. In addition, we have some background characters moving around which makes the space feel alive.

Another thing to note is the fluid motion of a character or scene being carried over from one frame to the next also the physical weight of their actions.

My favorite example of this is Yukie getting drunk in a small bar, you can see in both her and the other patron are clearly drunk and it's not because of the sake present. Yukie would slosh around, jerk forward suddenly, and have a heavy hand. When Sandayuu and Sakura burst in you can see the weight of their movements as well.

I'm also a sucker for sound quality and the use of foley sounds in movies ever since I learned about it in school. The sounds in Naruto Movie 1 are DELICIOUS. I'm fortunate to have access to a surround sound software also the website I'm using to watch the movie still contains the original sound file so, audibly, it feels like I am in a physical movie theater.

Interestingly, noticed a few scenes used dolly zoom. Not much to comment about it, very neutral about it.

Ma ma, enough with the technicalities, let's get into the plot-

"I guess it can't be helped." KAKASHI!?!? STRAIGHT UP WHIPS OUT THE SHARINGAN JUST TO PUT YUKIE UNDER A GENJUTSU. LIKE I GET IT, GOTTA MOVE HER ALONG NO SENSE IN BICKERING, BUT LMAO

Baby Koyuki and her father :(( the whole dream/flashback was adorable, even if it was short-lived.

Time to be a little Kakashi-biased, mainly the voice acting teehee. I'd like to note that I'm watching this in sub so Kazuhiko Inoue I am all ears. This is the scene where the filming gets interrupted by the villains, Kakashi springs into action, with a quick and commanding voice directs Team 7 to protect the now revealed princess, Koyuki.

I need to remember the movies aren't canon- Kakashi copying Ice-Style? Not possible since it's known as a kekki genkai, though for the sake of the plot and theatrics Kakashi's allowed to use Ice-Style lol.

Gonna dip back into some technicals again for a moment:

One of my favorite tropes in shows and movies is the involvement of the behind the scenes team present on stage, regardless if it's the camera crew, the animation crew, the production crew, etc. It's a funny gag, letting the audience know how hard these people work to produce their shows and movies. In Naruto: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow is no different where they show the type of work they put in setting up the scene with backdrops and props, ensuring the actors are in costume and make-up, and the final touch is the lights, mic, and camera are a go before calling action. The movie takes it a step further and shows us how far the director is willing to go to produce the final chapter of their movie series, it's also a chance of a lifetime.

I love the initial exchange in dialogue between Koyuki and Naruto during the prison scene,

Naruto was uninterested in icha icha tactics and gets weirded out at how much of a pervert some characters like jiraiya and that guy with the round glasses can be. He does sexual things sometimes like the sexy jutsu but I feel like that might be him mimicking things he’s seen because he had no adult to keep them away from him? Having access to things at that age does something to your brain even if you’re ace (personal experience).

And i think it’s interesting how when given the opportunity he’ll choose to transform into a girl (like there was a time he was hiding from someone and he posed as one of two characters on a billboard and he chose the female character when there was a male character right there).

Icha Icha Romantic Novel Series (Naruto) Sims 4 CC UPDATED Improved textures and descriptions

Super weird download I know. Includes: Icha Icha Paradise, Icha Icha Violence and Icha Icha Tactics.

Made great improvements to the textures no longer pixelated images. Also made the descriptions of each book better, and added the Japanese titles. The pages use Japanese placeholder text textures💜

The books give flirty buffs the same as the Romance Novels and are Base game compatible. I did think about putting the cover on the back like the originals but figured it would look worse when placed down or when they hold it to start reading and decided against it. Only for perv ninja sensei. Remember to keep these reads away from your children sims!!😅

Two weeks had passed.

Two weeks in which you lay awake every night, trying to silence your aching heart and racing thoughts.

Sometimes he would stop in front of your door. You would hear him shuffling in front of it, before walking to his own apartment, closing the door behind him.

And it was quiet again.

But, tonight, you had enough.

Already standing infront of your door you waited for him to appear. You heartbeat fastened, when you finally heard him. Like the past two weeks he stopped right in front of your door. You heard him breathing, could almost smell his familiar scent.

Your hand stopped right above the doorknob, as something hit the door with a soft thud. You heard him sigh against it, as it must have been his head that had collided with it.

You swallowed nervously.

He was closer to you than he had been the last two weeks, yet you hesitated to open the door. Were you scared he would fall when you suddenly opened it? Were you scared he'd push you away again, if you did?

Before you could have made up your mind about it you heard as he moved away, unlocking the door of his own apartment. Your throat constricted, as tears stung in your eyes.

You had cried so much the last two weeks that you weren't even sure if you could produce anymore tears.

Lips quivering, you opened the door to see his already closed again.

Before you could have thought about it you rushed over to his apartment, closing your door behind you with more force than you intended it to.

Grabbing the spare key he used to have lying on the doorframe, you opened his door and let yourself in.

You had expected a lot, but certainly not this.

His living room was a mess - pillows scattered on the floor, the table in the middle of the room was full with takeout boxes. His favourite icha icha books were discarded on the floor as well, some still open.

He was an organized man, his apartment was always cleaned up and tidy. This, was far from tidy.

The shower was running, as you silently closed the door behind you. Taking in the mess you decided to clean up a little, since you had to wait for him anyways.

Gathering the things scattered on the floor you put them were they belonged, or at least were you thought they did. He was in your apartment most of the time, you had barely ever been in his.

After cleaning up the mess on the table you sat down at it, as the shower turned off. It took him another few minutes to leave the bathroom, in which you admired your work.

When he finally entered the living room freshly showered and in more comfortable clothes than his tactical gear, he froze in place when he saw you.

You swallowed nervously, not sure what to say. A "surprise!" was definitely not the right thing to say right now.

And it was quiet again.

"Hey." you finally managed to get over your lips, breaking the more than uncomfortable silence. His eyes scanned the room quickly, before he as well cleared his throat, awkwardly greeting you in return.

"I figured since you wouldn't come to me, that I'd come to you." you told him, though you weren't sure what else to say if he decided to talk to you. His brows furrowed, before he nodded slightly, jaw clenched.

Kneeding your fingers in a nervous habit you looked down on the table, regret filling you almost instantly. You had invaded his home and if that wasn't enough you had tidied it up without him knowing as well.

"I'm sorry." you both said simultaneously, causing your eyes to snap back to his, eyebrows furrowing as you tried to gather what exactly he was apologizing for.

Your breathing quickened slightly, as you bit your lip when he looked away from you. "Tea?" he asked almost nonchalant, before making his way toward the stove to boil up some water, not waiting for your respond.

Still, you nodded, though he couldn't see it, as he was currently standing with his back to you.

A few minutes of silence passed, that were only interupted by the clattering of the cups and the sound of the boiling water, before he placed a cup of tea in front of you.

He knew you well enough to know your favourite tea, always keeping some of it for cases like this.

He sat down opposite you at the table, placing down his own cup as well.

And it was quiet again.

You hated the silence, hated not knowing what to say to someone you wanted to share every little detail of your life with. So you did what you thought was the right thing to do.

You apologized.

"I'm sorry that I was so... clingy and basically crushed you with my attention lately. I just wanted to help you, take care of you. But I know now, that it was too much." you said, eyes fixated on the steaming cup infront of you, not daring to look at him.

His mismatched eyes narrowed at your words. What you were saying was nonsence to him. The silence wasn't your fault, still you took all the blame.

He was the one that pushed you away, who distanced himself from you, because he was scared. Hearing that you thought you did too much, that you might have overwhelmed him made his already aching heart bleed.

He wanted all that you would offer to him, no matter how much it was. He wanted you to take care of him, to cradle his head in your lap and sing him a lulaby so he would be able to sleep again.

He wanted you and everything that came with it.

The table shook as he abruptly stood, causing the tea to spill from your cups. You jumped back in shock, almost knocking your chair over in the process. You gasped, as some of the tea still managed to drip onto your bare legs were the dress had ridden up.

But his piercing gaze on you was even hotter than the freshly brewed tea.

In one swift move he stood directly in front of you, grabbing your face in his hands.

He couldn't believe the words you had just said.

"Stop apoloziging for nonsense." he told you firmly, his eyes never leaving yours. Your brows furrowed in confusion, his sudden closeness leaving you dizzy.

He wanted to say more, you saw it at the way his mouth opened and closed like he was a fish. He groaned in discontent, when he couldn't find the right words. Instead, he decided to let his actions speak for him.

And so he kissed you.

Your eyes widened as hips lips crashed against yours, leaving you breathless. After a moment of regaining your composure your hands found his neck, as you eagerly kissed him back.

The silence you were so used to vanished with a pang, as the realization hit you. Suddenly, it was loud. His breathing that rang in your ears, the sound of your mouths devouring each other.

His hands found your waist, tugging you closer, as his tongue met yours. When you both were out of breath your foreheads met, his eyes back on yours.

"I want it." he admitted out of breath.

Your heart threatened to explode, his words leaving you hungry for more.

"I want you. I want your attention and everything else. I know I said that I'm never gonna - but, fuck. I'm way too selfish to ever let you go, Y/N. You have no clue what you do to me."

You swallowed, tears of happiness flooding your eyes. You tried to blink them away, a smile on your face. Before you had the chance to respond, he continued.

"I can't sleep without you, I hardly did the past two weeks. I wanted to come to you, but I was just so scared that you would push me away. I know a life with a shinobi - a life with me - is going to be hard, but I'm willing to give it a try. As long as you want me, that is. I love you, Y/N. Please, don't push me away."

The tears streamed down your face, blurring your vision. You couldn't believe he thought you would ever push him away.

"I love you too, Kakashi." you confessed, a sound of happiness escaping your mouth. "And I would never push you away, I promise. I want this, too. I want you."

There were tears in his eyes as you confessed to him, a teary smile stretching his lips, before he kissed you again. This time slower, savouring every little moment of it.

When you parted again he hugged you, holding you as close as he was able to. He would never again do the mistake of pushing you away.

Never.

And suddenly, the quiet was saying more than a thousand words.
